If you like Play the Game, youll like this place. Similar vibe but a much bigger selection. They were very accommodating to my family and didnt have issues with younger children. Tons of memorabilia and collectables, at reasonable prices. The next time were at Destiny USA, well definitely be stopping by.Edit: Stopped by on 2/26 Same great selection and staff. This time we were able to browse a bit more because we didnt have our children with us.
Theres some very neat collectors items in this store. Im a huge fan of the movie Trick R Treat and was super excited seeing the Sam doll for it here. If I didnt have my little kids (3 & 1), I could have stayed in here all day! Loved the comics section as well as retro games they had. I knocked off a star since some of the stuff seemed overpriced...but its Destiny Mall, so not shocking. Great place for collectors & Ill be back!
I drove almost an hour and I was not disappointed. Great selection and walked away with my Batman Who Laughs origin comic. Ive been wanting this issue for some time. I also love my Lego Batman Who Laughs. The works were very knowledgeable and let me open up the comic to see more detail. Wide selection of awesome comic merch as well!
Great selection and friendly and helpful staff. We are always able to search and find something to purchase as a gift for others. With good product turnover so there is always something new. Prices are reasonable and it is always good to help the locally owned businesses.
All modern figures in this place are priced based on ebay sold listings, even stuff thats currently available at retail. I 100% understand using after market prices for stuff thats no longer in production but still sought after. Star Wars Black Series currently available through other online outlets at $19.99 - $22.99, this place wants $40 - $50+ for. When I asked the guy behind the counter said Well we arent the same as Big Bad Toy Store. We have to pay more for our inventory. Go try that BS with someone who started collecting yesterday. This place is operated by scalpers. Period. What a joke.Ill drive all the way back out there tomorrow to purchase the figures I need. Im even willing to go a little above current retail, say $26.99 per figure, and spend at least $100.....but Im not paying $49.99 for a figure thats going to have a release at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Game Stop locally. Not to mention various e-retailers like Entertainment Earth, Big Bad Toy Store, Dork Side Toys, Amazon and several others. If its that important for you to get top dollar and price gouge, just sit on your inventory for a few months when you get it, wait for it to no longer be readily available, and then ask market prices. If thats agreeable Ill change this review and leave a 5 star positive one. I get the hustle. I understand profit margins.....But the way this is being done? Shameful.
My son and I spent $240 at Larger Than Life today. The staff was extremely friendly and invited us to join the commander and modern community there. We felt very welcomed and prices seemed fair. However, the only complaint, I asked for the stores best price on Zendikar Rising box top foil Scalding Tarn and Verdant Catacombs, I was quoted $220 -$250 for those cards. I asked the employee if he was looking at Zendikar Expedition prices or Zendikar Rising box top prices. Employee told me that prices are consistent with TCG pricing. His mistake was unfortunate as I would have spent another $220+ to purchase those cards if he would have taken the time to research the correct cards. Otherwise, an excellent experience.
The guy running the store was incredibly helpful. He made several trips to the front of the store with us to find the exact Lego Character that we wanted. First 1 character then a few minutes later again. He didnt get bothered, like I certainly would have, I was very apologetic for making him go back and forth. He took it in stride and performed his job very politely and professionally. He seemed very knowledgeable also about generic questions regarding Marvel and DC characters. Kudos for such a great job.
There are two locations, one in Destiny and one in Great Northern. Compare prices at both locations before you purchase, they dont always charge the same price for the same item in the same condition, but they will price match their other location (cell phone pics help).Their selection is pretty good, but do your research, especially with Funko Pops. Behind-the-counter and Chase items are sometimes overpriced without much flexibility. Over all both locations are staffed with decent people who genuinely like the hobbies that likely brought you there in the first place. Cant really say that about boxlunch or other conglom-o-shops.
I suspect a few of their products arent authentic, including some of the stickers, plushes, and Pokemon figures. Ive seen at least one Nintendo cartridge that appeared dubious. Often reproductions are extremely difficult to spot without opening the cartridge up, and you have to know what youre looking for. Ill personally pass on anything high dollar here after that experience. (Yes, reproduction NES carts are absolutely illegal to sell due to Intellectual Property laws.)I cant say one way or another if the store is aware of these items being unofficial, and Im not saying that everything here is bootleg, but it couldnt hurt to bring a knowledgeable friend if you shop here.I issued a single star rating due in part with my interactions with staff unrelated to the issues listed above.
Service was, well, nonexistent. We were there 30 minutes and never acknowledged until we brought our purchases to the counter. Even then the was no greeting or friendly exchange, merely a total stated. We got the impression the employee had no desire to be there. And this was after he had just come back from lunch, during which we waited an hour while the store was shuttered.
Went in found a freddy kreuger we wanted to buy for 150 dollars then the employee came over and was very rude apparently we werent supposed to touch that box but it didnt say anywhere not to touch it. it was one of two on a shelf? Anyways we left and you guys lost a 150 dollar sale
The absolute worst customer service I’ve ever had. Drove 2 hours to see their collection of Funko Pops they had, and also to try and trade my own in. The employee with the glasses, pink hair, and septum piercing was RUDE as hell. They asked us how much we were looking for, when we said our price, the employee laughed, rolled their eyes and said “absolutely not” in disgust and just walked away. Not to mention they were on the computer the entire time with ear buds in. Looked and acted miserable when we asked questions. My other friend had asked if they would want her Funko and a trade in value for it. The employee snatched the box out of her hand, went to the back, and 2 seconds later came back and said “zero % interest”, and that the box was in horrible condition when it wasn’t AT ALL. If you want customers to have a good experience, hire employees that actually want to work

2022-05-03This store suffers from two and a half things: the mall hours, the prices, and the shopping experience altogether. The first two are the main issues, and the third isn’t too big of an issue, which is why the rating is two stars. The mall hours aren’t much in there control, so I’ll leave it there. The prices are downright criminal at some points. Sometimes it feels like I’m being scalped while shopping at a retail location, and that’s not something I’m very excited about. Lastly, the employees are just there. They’re cordial at checkout, but offer nothing beyond that. I ultimately don’t think I can detract for that since it isn’t really a negative, but their main location(and plenty of other locations in Syracuse) offer a much better experience.

2022-07-09Highly overpriced on EVERYTHING! Prices come from reseller markets then marked higher even though many of these items are brand new and/or recently released. Both locations for this store set their prices this way, but almost everything sold there can be purchased at better prices locally or online. If you can get staff to help you, consider yourself lucky. 1 star only because zeroes are not available.

2022-07-02Nice and clean, decent items, but the biggest issue that doesnt give it 5 stars is some of the prices are WAY too much. Ive seen the same exact items in other comic stores for half the price.

2022-07-16Not even worth the time to try and sell anything to themTried getting me to part with two pretty expensive pop figures for next to nothing (30% of latest eBay selling) , then tried marginalizing me walking away from the trade by saying “we are a business”You can do better than 30% seeing what you’re selling them for, and showing me listing on eBay only shot yourselves in the foot, I know where to now list mineAlso , didn’t appreciate you taking them both in back for inspection, then one suddenly has a new tear on the underside as you’re quoting meAvoid at all costs

2021-05-14This is the best place to find pokemon trading cards, magic the gathering events, new release comics, Manga comics, collectible action figures, video game systems, arcades and funko pops. They are the biggest toy store in Syracuse NY

2022-08-14Good selection, your going to pay up for it though. expect to pay over market value for most items but theres a good chance youll find hard to find items here.

2022-05-14Great selection of comics, retro games, figures, and even some old arcade games that work! They also have some manga but don’t go expecting some huge selection of that specifically. Overall really cool and interesting store.

2022-03-29I was there earlier today around 3ish and had some cards for trade in. At first I wasnt going to get nearly a fair price and when I mentioned that and pointed out a few high price cards and showed my tcg player list and everything matched up, he was more than happy to adjust the store credit to a fair amount. I didnt even question his second offer. He took the time to listen to me and actually check that what I was saying was true and then gave me a fair price with out having to haggle. I am very grateful for his customer service skills and time he took with me, and the fact he did take a moment to look through my tcg play list to give me a more fair offer. Everywhere else I have been so far has not dont that. I usually feel like I have been ripped off when j leave, its not a good feeling. But today I felt valued and was more than happy to take all my trade in store credit and spend it right back the same day. I will from now on be going there for all my TCG and Collectible purchases and accepted trades!!!! Sorry I didnt get your name, but thank you again and you deserve a raise, your gonna make them money if u keep it up!!!!

2022-05-25Walked in and walked out. Selling figures for literally a little more than 2× the cost then what they go for lol. Why is a Carbon Boba Fett $60? When I bought it there 2 years ago for MAYBE $30... Never seen it listed anywhere for that price. I wish the owner(s) had more knowledge of what theyre selling.
