I went to LArtusi with very high expectations, given what people say about the restaurant. Some dishes really surprised me with wonderful flavors. I like creative and surprising flavors so my favorites were the appetizer Fig&Pear Burrata Crostone, the Tortelloni pasta - squash, pear, walnut, parmigiano… and for dessert the Olive Oil Cake you definitely have to try it!!!
Get some pasta!. Get the Olive Oil Cake for dessert! Those were both great . They do their pasta al dente though, keep that in mind, Im not sure if you can ask for it to be cooked a bit more. But getting pasta is definitely worth it . I came here for my birthday with a friend. Theres a bike rack not to far away if youre riding, on West 4th. We sat upstairs, the air conditioning is better up there I think. We started with cocktails - I got the Beauregard, a blackberry flavored drink with some sherry in it that wasnt too strong and my friend got the Village Spritz which was really refreshing! He got 2 of those. We started with Blackberry focaccia. Its dense but has great flavor and was like $8 for 4 pieces. Get this because there wasnt any free bread. Then pasta! I had Cacio e Pepe. Delicious sauce. My friend had mushrooms Garganelli which was very earthy. I liked that too . For main I had Branzino with honey and Olives. Unusual but nice - this doesnt really come with a side so I got the Chicories which is their version of Caesar salad with bitter greens , you have to dig to bottom to get the flavor! My friend had steak with crispy potatoes. I tried the potato and they were nice ( but Id skip that sour cream tasting sauce they serve on the side.) For dessert we got the amazing Olive Oil Cake, definitely get this and make sure you get some of that raisins sauce liquid and some whip cream in each bite ! That makes it ! They also brought a complimentary Blackberry Thyme sorbet with a candle in it for my birthday!! That was delicious and refreshing too . And a nice thought. I also had the red wine by the glass called Vulture that was $16 and I liked it better than the cocktail I had . Earthy and strong. Anyway this place is highly recommend, especially for occasions . Lartusi is special. And our server Hollis was special too . Very nice.
Saying the food & service are great at L’Artusi, is like saying water is wet or fire is hot. Deciding to have dinner here is a fantastic idea. While I only tried several dishes as I drank at the bar (my martini was absolutely perfect) I have NO DOUBT, every dish on the menu is prepared with the same care & outstanding flavor as the mushrooms & burger were. I’ve been trying to get a table for 4 here for quite some time, so I popped in to see if I should continue to search … and this simple meal at the bar has emboldened me to keep trying!
Love the fresh pasta, it was delicious and very satisfying. The mushroom starter, while very original, fell short in my opinion (I was not expecting it to be so lemony, and the mushrooms felt dry and stringy). Would come back again for that pasta though, and the awesome bartender!
I can see why this place takes a month to get a table. The service was spot on and you can tell the pasta is made on property. Went for the brunch. The pancakes were PERFECT. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Def get the sausage too. They have fresh squeezed OJ. I’ll be back.
The service here is first class. And whoever is in charge of keeping water glasses full at this place needs a commendation and a raise; my glass was never empty (the true mark of superb service in my opinion). My spouse and I came here to close ot or first day in NYC, and were not disappointed. I mentioned the service was great before, but its worth mentioning again, its top notch! We started with the burrata appetizer, which was smooth and brimming with flavor, with just a hint of sweetness that set it off perfectly. Then, we got an update that our food was just about to be finished and would be out momentarily. Ive heard this many times from wait staff before, and it usually means that your meal is taking a long time and they are passively acknowledging this, but not so here. It was genuine, thoughtful, and quite accurate. Our food arrived very soon after. Lburger was surprisingly large, with a ton of greens and tasty melted cheese. It was quite filling, with just the right amount of greasy goodness. Enough to need a napkin, but restrained enough to not dissolve during consumption. The potatoes that accompanied were divine as well, a perfect pairing.
Finally visited L’Artusi. The TAGLIATELLE was with bolognese bianco, and parmigiano. Not heavily creamy yet the parmigiano cheese flavor popped out. As for the SPAGHETTI, to be honest, this dish didn’t meet my expectations. The combination of garlic, chilies, and parmigiano is everything that you can get at a regular Italian diner. It’s okay but nothing special to match the price point. CRISPY POTATOES with the salsa Bianca was delightful. The sour cream like salsa dipping sauce gave another bump. The highlight of today’s lunch was that famous OLIVE OIL CAKE! Golden raisin marmellata paired so well with the olive oil cake and crème fraîche mousse - slightly savory striking awesome balance with creaminess and sweetness! This place is always crowded so it’s better make a reservation. The waiters and waitresses were friendly.
L’artusi definitely has the hype, and for the most part i would say it’s warranted. the cacio e pepe was truly delicious, even though it’s so simple. the pasta itself is made perfectly, and i would eat it even if it was buttered noodles. the mushroom ragú was amazing too, and we were really glad we went with it. there is a bit of choice overload here, so i would suggest going with a larger group to try more things. the brussels were very good too- extra crispy. the only time i didn’t love was the ricotta toast… i felt like the bread was stale, and there wasn’t anything exciting about it (even though it was beautiful). overall, i would recommend coming here and ordering all the pastas!
Excellent experience. 1/7/22: Had the PASTATAGLIATELLE (w/ bolognese bianco, parmigiano), the PICI NERO (w/ crab, calabrian chili, garlic, tomato, nori breadcrumbs), the TORTELLONI (w/squash, pear, walnut, parmigiano), and the ROASTED CHICKEN (w/ hen of the woods, scallion). All were good but the tagliatelle and the pici nero were outstanding. Also had the TUSCAN KALE salad (w/ candied pecans, cherries, apples, smoked ricotta), and for dessert the OLIVE OIL CAKE (w/ golden raisin marmellata, madeira, crème fraîche mousse). Both were pretty good but not outstanding.
Incredible staff, the waitress was so lovely and genuine. The food was incredible, so fresh and delicious, the prices are reasonable, if you take into account the quality of food, service, drinks and the location of the place. I would most certainly recommend and will most definitely be returning.Instagram: @simplysaidy
L’artusi definitely met my high expectations! The pasta was amazing! We ordered the Wagyu carpaccio at the recommendation of our waiter. We felt like we couldn’t really taste the beef at all and the flavor of the toppings took over, but it was still good.We also ordered the tagliatelle bolognese, the spaghetti and the hanger steak. All three of these dishes were delicious! The spaghetti was slightly spicy. For desert, we ordered the olive oil cake and loved it.
Most known for dinner, but given how hard it was to book a reservation we had to settle for brunch. Reservations book fast and its no surprise, goven how delicious this was! Great dishes at reasonble NY prices. Beautiful decor and would recommend you sit on the upper floor, so you can see the sun naturally into the restaurant. Would recommend you stop in if you have time (and can get a spot!)
Some of the kindest and most accommodating staff (hosts and waiters)! Incredible experience and incredible food. We had to change our party from 5 to 3, and staff was very understanding and took us anyway. There are so many great Italian places in NYC, but L’artusi is one of the BEST! Will be back because of staff alone. :)
Amazing Italian food. We had scallops crudo, Garganelli (mushroom ragu, ricotta salata), and Pici Nero (crab, calabrian chili, garlic, tomato, nori breadcrumbs) . All super delicious! Waiter is friendly and professional as well. Outdoor seating has nice heat! Would definitely come back.
First time back in a few years and it did not disappoint! L’Artusi has to be in the conversation for top 5, maybe even top 3 pasta joints in the city. Its consistently mentioned, and for good reason. Squid ink + crab pasta was the highlight for sure, lots of interesting textural and flavour combinations going on. Drinks were also very solid, i especially enjoyed their take on a mezcal negroni which is basically liquid catnip to me. The ricotta was very finely whipped and came with an out of left field grape mostardo which balanced it nicely. Wholly recommend, this place is a New York classic for a reason!
We booked the wine room for a post-wedding family dinner, and everything from communication to the food was phenomenal. Leah and her team made the evening fantastic. They accommodated a nut allergy (by offering to make separate dishes that were nut-free!), had personalized menus ready on our table, and all of the food was exquisite. Everyone (and we had the entire range of food personalities) loved the dinner! We also did outdoor dining here, just for fun, and the food experience was equally good. Its a gem!
It had been a while since I ate at L’Artusi because reservation was hard to come by. My good friend was able to get an outdoor table there for lunch today. Service was excellent. We shared tuna crudo, crab meat Calabria chili pasta and Delicata squash. The quality of the ingredients were first grade but all the dishes lacked flavor. Couldn’t really taste the Calabria chili at all in the pasta dish.Hope this was an one off miss of the kitchen!
LArtusi! We finally got here! The reservation process for this place is utterly insane. They open at 9 am something like two weeks in advance. My girlfriend and I both had Resy open and refreshed at exactly 9 am. We both failed on our first attempt and then I was successful with a 5:15 outdoor reservation on a Thursday. ALL reservations were gone in under 40 seconds. This was our most recent and most serious of 3-4 attempts to get a reservation here.Needless to say, my expectations were sky high. I cant give less than 5 stars because the food was genuinely very good. But almost nothing could match that expectation. I will note the indoor dining experience probably would have been much nicer. Its a sleek indoor space. The service was fine, not bad not good. The drinks we got (dont remember which) were refreshing but unspectacular. The Wagyu Tartare, Garganelli (mushroom ragu) and Cavatelli (pancetta, tomato, chili) were EXCELLENT. While delicious , the Cavatelli was spicy for me, but very spice sensitive - a non-issue for most people I think. So all in all, go here. Its great. But maybe wait for the hype to die down a bit, if it ever does.
It was a private event. It was upstairs from the main dining room. When I have been to private events in Manhattan, at an upscale place, most rooms are very private and yes, also very beautiful, but they lack the intimacy of sharing your experience with the rest of restaurant. Its uniquely comfy. My biggest 5 star review, is for the staff. The the staff was very attentive, they were very helpful, and you could obviously see that they were working together. There was no tension between them, and they made the experience very inviting. They were very accessible, and BONUS... theres a bathroom upstairs!!
The food and service here is excellent. LArtusi serves the best of Northern Italy with unique cocktails and delicious pasta. I havent tried dessert but the couple sitting next to us had the gelato and said it was great. This place also has outdoor seating with heaters.
Great service, and good dishes overall! Was slightly disappointed by the cacio e Pepe and the dessert, but the ambiance and kindness of staff makes up for it. I highly recommend l’Artusi for a date or lunch between friends. The heirloom tomato and burrata is to die for, so delicious!! The wagyu pretty tasteless...
I had dinner with my wife, together we have a restaurant in Brooklyn and we know what cooking means. We were lucky enough to have the chefs table and we saw the perfect organization, the harmony. The experience was excellent, from assigning the seat to the quality of the food, to the speed of preparation and the quality of service. The place was full but everything worked perfectly. In the end we thanked the chef and came home thinking we had found our favorite place. Top.
Food was too good! I got the burger and honestly best burger in NYC (in my opinion) and my GF for the pasta (cant remember which one) but she absolutely loved it. Desert was the salted caramel chocolate cake and that was too good. For starters we got the Wagyu which wasnt anything special (probably wouldnt order it again)
Sophisticated Italian with a chic ambiance in a trendy neighborhood. Inconvenient that you have to pay for bread but the asparagus and mushroom appetizers were phenomenal. However, the squid ink and branzino were missing that “wow” factor introduced with the appetizer. The cinnamon cookies were excellent and quite possibly as good as or better then Levain. Overall, very tasty food but the portions are small.
L’artusi is my spot forever and ever. I was there for lunch and Cynthia our server is just the sweetest person ever. She noticed our first round of drinks were smaller than usual and then comped us another round. Exceptional customer service, very tasty meals and beautiful ambience. The bucatini is my fave but you can’t go wrong with any of their meals. The best Italian spot in nyc!
One of my favorite restaurants in nyc. The pastas are always fresh and tasty. I did wish they had a working heater a couple of months ago when I went and was sitting outdoors. I wore my jacket the whole time. I didn’t mind since the food was great and the waitress was nice. I’ve been to L’artusu more than 5 times, and each time was great. It’s my go to spot when I have visitors coming into town.
I’ve had L’Artusi on my list forever and never made the time to go and now, I wish we’d gone sooner! We get the hype. The food was phenomenal and the service matched. Amelie was our waitress and was so attentive, helpful and kind. If we don’t go back for the food, which we 100% will, we’d go back to see her. 11 out of 10!
Amazing place. The ambience is great for a date or a small gathering with friends/family. The wine selection is endless and it’s amazing the detail each page has (over 20 pages). The fig and pear burata was to die for, the sourdough bread was fresh and added a bit of crunchy to such a fresh dish. For dinner, the tagliatelle and bucatini are a most. Simple, but delicious. And to finish, for dessert you MUST get the olive oil cake. It’s light and fluffy and you will not be able to stop eating it.
My boyfriend and I got takeout at L’Artusi to celebrate a special night and the food did not disappoint! To start things off we got the ricotta which was rich yet refreshing with the strawberry vinaigrette. We couldn’t pick two pastas so we got three! In order of favorites 1) Mushroom Garganelli 2) Pappardelle Ragu 3) Squid Ink. The mushroom was so fragrant and creamy, I could eat it everyday! We look forward to dining in next time. :)
So delicious I came back twice in my one week during my visit in NYC! Loved the burrata with strawberries (so fresh, great meal opener), the pastas are delicious (the spaghetti was my favorite), the hanger steak was really good too (the garlic sauce was bomb) and the olive oil cake is a must and I dont even eat olive oil cake! The cocktails are also phenomenal I had the espresso martini and the gin tonic. A MUST in west village!! Also special shoutout for the best service I had in NYC too :)
Man this place is exquisite, like by far the best restaurant I’ve ever been to in NYC. Came here with my girlfriend yesterday and everything was delicious. We got the focaccia and crostone to start, that was the best $24 I ever spent on a slice of bread and I could eat at least 5 more of them. Next came the pasta, we ordered the tagliatelle and garganelli. If you get one thing get the tagliatelle, best I’ve ever had. Followed that up with the hangar steak and venison osso bucco, both were still pretty good but I think we were on a high from everything else we ate that they kinda fell flat for us. Then we finished with the olive oil cake and salted chocolate cake. Bro. There is a reason everyone recommends the olive oil cake, it is a must. Do not share it. Eat the whole thing yourself. Oh and the service was amazing, the bartender is hilarious and the drinks were delicious. 10/10 this place will be seeing us again.
We had several dishes family styleHangar steak, Brussels sprouts, the crudo fish, the red snapper and the pepe pasta.Everything was on point. We love the fact that the menu only has a handful of items for each section and yet they cover everything youd want.Of course the olive oil cake ended the evening.Great wine list too. We choose a bottle from barolo region.Definitely on our NYC list.
We arrived a bit earlier than expected, place was packed so they werent able to seat us early. Awesome interior, perfect for a date night. Tables were a little too close together. Service was quick and cocktails were very good. The roasted mushroom was a little disappointing and lacked flavor. The burrata was amazing and much better than the typical burrata plate at an Italian restaurant. The three pastas (gnocchi, tagliatelle, bucatini) were all great and cooked perfectly. However they werent too different than other great Italian restaurants - so I wouldnt try to hunt for a reservation again. Dessert was okay imo (chocolate cake and olive oil) but my wife thought the olive cake was to die for.
Potentially the best Italian in West Village? I’ll let you decide. I had the chestnut squash tortelloni and of course the olive oil cake. The tortelloni was perfect in every way. I can’t even describe how exquisite the flavor profile was, every aspect of the dish was excellent. I think it had brown butter, sage, lemon, and hazelnut. Wish the portion size was double of course! The olive oil cake was unique and a must-try. I wouldn’t put it as one of my top desserts (since I like chocolate), but I would recommend it.
Reservations now available on Resy! Great outdoor seating setup with plexiglass dividers and space heaters - food was amazing as always! Loved the lamb ragu/ricotta pasta and the branzino. The house ricotta is a must, and the olive oil cake is a perfect way to finish the meal.
We must be the exception? Or we are spoiled that Italy is a two hour flight from our country. This is not what Italian food tastes like. I had high hopes because of the spectacular reviews. What can I say:The buratta with strawberries was so I’ll prepared. Chunky pieces of strawberry. Cheese had zero taste… everything just tossed together. The bolognese papardelle was alright. The veal chop was horrific. Asked for medium rare. It came well done. There was so much cheese. The cheap kind of cheese. Then there was a layer of some kind of onion stew with a Marinara sauce over it. On and then they threw some kind of bacon on it. Again, always the cheap sort of bacon.Service was so rude. The man who opened our bottle of wine was chatting with his friends at the bar as he was opening the bottle for us. Didn’t even look at us. As if we were animals. Just very weird experience. Maybe it’s because we went at 10:00 and everyone wanted to pack up shop and leave ???Selection of wine was excellent.Just very confused that everyone loves this place.
All these years later, still my #1 restaurant in NYC. Nothing I can say that hasn’t been said a thousand times already. If you haven’t been yet, it’s time, and certainly worth the fight on Resy. You won’t be disappointed. Focaccia, mushrooms, spaghetti, pork chop, olive oil cake, heaven.
Of all the acclaimed Italian spots in NYC, L’artusi lives up to the hype. The Heirloom Burrata is an exceptionally well done, elevated take on a classic dish. While everything we ordered was amazing, the Bucatini was by far our favorite, followed by the Pici Cacio e Pepe and Tagliatelle. Most importantly - if you leave without ordering the olive oil cake, you’ve made a mistake.
Excellent service and beautiful venue. The two stand out dish was the chicken and tortellini. Both deserve a 5/5 for creativity and flavor. The wagyu tartare was delicious but a little too much bread. The rest of the dishes was good but nothing to write home about. Feel like this place deserve a 5/5 but I didn’t feel the balance and synergy between the dishes and for the overall experience didn’t come together for me. Perhaps it’s because of this covid era.
Lovely restaurant with great ambiance. Very busy on weekends, but waiting for a bar seat was absolutely worthwhile. The food and wine was all very well priced. The staff was helpful and nice. The pastas all looked so great it was hard to choose, but we left absolutely satisfied. I recommend the octopus, spaghetti and ordering a dessert or two.
Saturday April 16th 2022 at 9:00pm. It was our third time attending Lartusi. We have previously had great experiences. This time was the opposite. We had reservations for 9:00pm, we got in at 8:55pm and the hostess told us to wait. I then asked her how long it would take before we could get our table and she rudely responded that were early and I need to wait. It wasnt so much what she said but the condescending tone and the raising of her voice that we did not appreciate. I asked her to speak to a manager and she responded : I am the manager. We were seated upstairs at the very last table near the bathrooms. This table had obviously been added in order to accommodate more people. It was very uncomfortable and crammed. We proceeded to speak to the manager. He was very kind and informed us that the hostess downstairs was not the manager. He gave us an appetizer, free of charge to make up for the rude hostess. He told us he was unable to find better seats for us but he was able to move us two seats over. Im unsure what was going on with the air conditioning that night but it was very very cold. I had to eat with my jacket on the entire night. We ordered approximately 300$ worth of food and drinks. By the end of the night, we tipped 17%. In my books, this is sufficient. Once the waitress noticed she said : out of curiosity was it me or because of the entrance. We were shocked. I am of the opinion that 17% is sufficient, especially for the type of evening that we had but to have the waitress tell us that it wasnt was very rude, in our opinions. After three great visits to Lartusi, the 4th one has ruined evey other visit. I will not be going back and I am DEFINETELY NOT recommending this to anyone. Service is of huge importance and they failed at it on this night.Kindly note, the food was good. No complaints on that front.thank you!
I have been here 6 times and that says how much I like this restaurant. Delicious Italian food served with a good variety. Love their spaghetti and mushrooms with fried egg on top. Garganelli pasta is amazing too. We got beets as well which were very refreshing, along with kale ravioli. For dessert we ordered the olive oil cake, hazelnut torte and the budino which was like a mousse. Every single dish was perfectly balanced. Portions are not huge so you can order a few things to share. Latte goes well with the desserts to get that too!
Beautiful, rustic setting with amazing food! The service is great, the ambience is romantic with a buzz in the air. I called a week in advance and was able to get a reservation (which I hear is impossible), but they accept walk ins for their bar seating as well (its a large area and has more then 16 seats so you have a good shot). The food was excellent! Everything tastes homemade and healthy. We ordered a lot of dishes and everything was delicious. Its so good, Im going back again this week and getting a seat at the bar! =)@traveleen_gurl
This is one of my favorite Italian food restaurants downtown. It makes perfect go to place for a date , or just business dinner with clients. Make a reservation in advance , it is always busy . All pasta dishes are good , some of the apps are really delicious as well.
This is a great Italian place! A great ambience due to the combination of authentic Italian and authentic New York, great Italian wine and a great playlist that includes great r&b classics, but still fits the atmosphere. The waiters are very knowledgeable, know their wines and what dish matches the other. I highly recommend sharing some pasta dishes. This way you can enjoy more of their fabulous creations. Somehow the chef here managed to keep the sauses very light, even the creamy sauses, and just the right level of umami. This place is always packed to book early or be prepared to hang around for a while.
Hard to get a table, so I resorted to walking in at 5:30. Even then, I just barely got a seat at the bar. The people behind me were told to wait another 90 minutes. It was worth the wait! Highlight include the home made ricotta (a special), roasted mushrooms and tagliatelle (cooked in a white sauce instead of the usual red). To finish, I highly recommend the olive cake - theres a reason theyre know for it!
LArtusi is an exceptional restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere are all outstanding. Right when you walk in, the staff are attentive and do everything they can to ensure you are having a good experience. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and offer great recommendations. They were very accommodating to me as a vegetarian and are attentive towards allergies.LArtusi offers a unique and modern take on Italian food. You wont find traditional dishes here. The recipes are complex and exciting while still comforting the palate like Italian food should. The food at this place is so delicious. Even the bread and olive oil is memorable. The butter lettuce salad is a stack of whole butter lettuce leaves with a creamy dressing and blue cheese. It is such an interesting way to eat a salad and it works well. The Brussels sprouts are cooked well and packed with flavor and sharp cheese. The spaghetti is perfectly cooked and the chilis add a good bite of flavour. The ravioli is rich and creamy with a bit of sweetness. The dessert we had was so decadent and delicious. We had the dark chocolate mousse dessert. It was so smooth and chocolatey and rich and creamy all at once. Every bite was superb. The crispy dark chocolate cookie added a nice crunch to it.We were also brought complementary ricotta cheese with crackers as well as a small dish of another type of buttery ravioli that was very tasty. They have an extensive menu of drinks that are also just as outstanding.LArtusi has some of the most inventive and delicious Italian food Ive ever eaten. The food and service are all executed perfectly. Every moment spent here and every bite of food is an absolute delight.
We were here on Sunday brunch and were really hungry. Ordered steak, breakfast and ricotta crepes, steak was too tasteless for me, not enough salt or pepper and small. Potato over-roasted as for me, eggs were good but nothing special for that place. Maybe we should have ordered pasta but there is no big choice for brunch. Small brunch menu in general.
I loved this place back in 2010, and I still love it now. The food here is fantastic. Whenever we come to NYC, this is one of the places on my list. From the crudo, to insalate, to the various selections of formaggio, pesce, e carne, you will have a tough time choosing what to have. They also have quite a selection of wines, and many years ago I sat in the wine library for dinner and it was quite lovely. Last night we had little gem salad with green goddess, Parmesan frico, and radish; bavette pasta with Manila clams, jalapeño, and breadcrumbs; finally, the red snapper with corn, fregola, heirloom tomatoes, and Manila clams. For dessert, we had a 1er Cru Champagne to go along with our hazelnut torta with salted caramel gelato. Delizioso!
Beautiful dishes and excellent portioning for dinner. Had the dayboat scallop ceviche and then the venison special. People also raved about the orichete. We were floored by the dellicata squash raviolis they added to the table. We shared the budino, lemon cage and olive oil cake with friends and loved all of them. Have to come back again!
This place was so disappointing.. you walk I and it’s so loud and dirty looking. I get the beef carpaccio which was pre made and skimpy for 25.00 after that we left and went for a good dinner. II wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!!Do not believe the people on Instagram, they get paid by restaurants to hype it up. This place sucks!!!!
Upon checking in we were quickly taken to our table. Many have made a note about the noise level but understand this isnt quite fine dining, you still will be able to hear everything and have a great time Dinner service was phenomenal. Each dish felt properly sized and aesthetically (hunger inducing) pleasing. The roasted mushrooms were a great starting point with a nice level of heat to them. The orecchiette and gnocchi were sublime. These small pasta bowls filled with so much favor, pasta cooked perfectly al dente such a rich texture youre sad that you have reached the bottom. The steak was one of the best steaks Ive ever had with crispy potatoes that took the old steak and potatoes match to a whole new level where the potatoes sat evenly with the steak. For dessert the olive oil cake was airy, moist, and was a perfect way to end the meal. The wine list is extensive so make sure to have a few youre interested in as they may be out of one or two. Service was on point. Not once did we have to ask for a single thing, our glasses were refilled often and we were checked on periodically to ensure our evening was going well and that everything was fine. The problem we had was deciding our dishes and leaving others for another visit. A real gem here and a new staple of our favorites. Intimate and casual.TL;DR: Food is awesome eat everything and cake!!.
L’Artusi has easily become one of my new favorite restaurants. Right off the bat, the waiters were so cool. The ambiance is amazing and the drinks are great. The ricotta antipasta was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The garganelli and cavatelli pasta dishes were phenomenal and the olive oil cake was perfect. I give this place a 10/10 and it is going to be my go-to spot to take friends that visit nyc!
I came here for a very late dinner. We sat near the front. This is Italian food but fancier. The portions are small, almost appetizer portions at entre prices. You would not expect anything less. I was a bit shocked, but came to accept it. It was about quality and not quantity.Things I orderedRoasted mushrooms - very good and good flavor and some spiceSpaghetti - I was suspicious of paying 18$ for a small plate of it, it was very good and great texture. I would recommend itRoasted pork chop - this was the biggest dish and biggest piece of pork chop Ive ever had or seen in my life. The pork chop has Apple, raisins, and becaon. Very good but the pork chop was medium and had some blood, but the waiter assured me that it was safe to eat.Side order of brussel sprouts - it was great but it seems a bit too greasy, there was too much oil.Dessert hazelnut, chocolate with salted Caramel gelatoMost of the dishes had Parmesan cheese shavings, Im not big fan of cheese so I would ask for less if it next time. This was a good place for high end Italian food, if you want something less pricey and more casual try Carmines.
Had a 2:30 reservation showed up a few mins early, got seated. Seating upstairs very tight worst I’ve seen in nyc for a high end place. Anyway, sat down waited a while before we got water and the waiter took our drink order and food. Took about 20 mins to get the drinks. Food came out shortly after. Food was a bit small in portion the crab pasta is beyond expensive as if it was lobster pasta. My wife was still hungry when we flagged the waiter it was 3:04pm and he said sorry kitchen is closed didn’t attempt to see if they would make us anything. We spent more time waiting than dining. Would not return, very expensive 100 dollars for 2 drinks and an app and one pasta. Go to Morandi or if you want to be in a fancier spot carbone is better service and food.
This restaurant is as good as they come. Every time that I’m in New York I look forward to going back there. Recommended dishes: their vegetarian pasta, the mushroom and eggs appetizer, and I heard the steak is great too. Can be hard to get a Rez, but if you get there around six for dinner there’s a good chance you can get bar seats to eat.
L’Artusi is a West Village gem. For starters, the way to get a reservation is to stay up until midnight to make a reservation a month in advance. Alternatively, you can walk in when it opens at 5:30pm and get a seat at the bar, which is an amazing experience. The first time I went, we got seated facing the kitchen and got to watch the chefs prepare our food!Food-wise, they always have a ricotta cheese starter that’s a special, that comes with thin crackers and a strawberry jam. Get this, and get the roasted mushrooms with pancetta, fried egg and ricotta as well. I don’t like mushrooms and I love this mushroom dish. For pastas, the pici with lamb neck ragu, mint and ricotta was my all time favorite pasta I’ve eaten from here. We also got cacio e pepe, which was a special, and it was so much lighter than any cacio e pepe I’ve ever had; it was great. For dessert, the olive oil cake is so unique and moist, and a fantastic way to end the meal.
Very good wine recommendation, server was great, apps were great, but the food was....trying too hard? Spices weren’t balanced, just overwhelming. Spice on both our dishes was a crust rather than a seasoning, and just somewhat jarring. For context, I went there Tuesday night, its Friday? And can’t recollect exactly what I had, other than the impression of the spices. Oh, and the ravioli - can definitely recommend that, they were gone well before I got a photo. If it wasn’t so hyped and pricy I’d give it 4 stars, but considering the reputation, the wait (even after our reservation time, not too long, but not a great attitude about it either....) seems like I’m supposed to be impressed, and while it was certainly good, I really wasn’t.
In a faceless plethora of restaurants in Manhattan, this place is astonishingly good. Everything we had was amazing from the Wagyu beef tartare to the pork chop. The crispy potatoes might be the best potatoes I’ve ever had. Finish off with some olive oil cake and the night can’t get any better.
Out of all the outdoor dining experiences, this is certainly one of the nicer (and safer) ones. Partisans for each sections, overhang covers and heaters by each table. L’artusi has always been a classic, and they do their best to create an enjoy, outdoor experience - even in the winter.
I have read way too many reviews about Larthsi, I think that’s why I had a very high expectation for it being the best Italian spot in NYC. It ended up being very disappointed. In my opinion, the food is very average and even on the salty side. The only dish I liked was the octopus. The pork chop wasn’t too flavorful and don’t bother to try… I don’t think I’ll come back but this is only my opinion given a grain of salt
Absolutely amazing.-Outstanding service-Warm greeting upon arriving-The food was mouth watering delicious-The cocktails were great! (I recommend Violet Skies)- The venue was clean-The chef inspected every plate before sending to the table-A very organized system that allows a seamless flow throughout the kitchen-Your plates and utensils get replaced with fresh ones-The tables/placements get wiped after each dish-Your water gets replenished at the right time-Everything from my palate to the cells in my body were really happy-Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Please order the mushroom plate..i dont even like mushrooms but for some reason they are fire here. You really can not go wrong with any of the pasta as they are all fantastic. The ambiance is amazing and very hip/chill. Their house cocktails are tasty and original. What mare this experience the best was the amazing staff and service.
The service here is just as impeccable as the food! I felt so well taken care of by our servers and every single thing we tasted was flavorful and delicious - including the carbonara, spaghetti, brussel sprouts, ricotta appetizer, and gelati! The servers are very aware and professional and kind - when they saw us exchanging gifts for our anniversary they even brought out a free extra scoop of ice cream. Very impressive service and food.
So good that we went twice in the space of a few days. First time, where we didnt have a booking, we put our name down at 6pm and had to wait a couple of hours. Worth the wait though. Amazing Italian dishes, fantastic pasta and great desserts. Service was impeccable and atmosphere is classy but unpretentious.
Phenomenal brunch. One of the few places on Yelp that has a 4.5 star rating. This rating is well worth it.I usually go for brunch where I order the potatoes and creme fresh and biscuits. Both dishes alone are enough to keep me coming and I am never disappointed by the food. The ambience is also great. The place feels modern and very clean.
Food was great. Had beef carpaccio, butter lettuce, tagliatelle, pork chop, and olive oil cake. By far the best pork chop ever! Service was impeccable...she was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. Only issue was tight quarters and bus person bumped me several times without acknowledging otherwise a must try! 4.7 stars :)
I really enjoyed my meal here! Service is excellent. The starters were divine. They put down our order wrong and brought out a starter we hadnt ordered, but were very gracious about it and gave it to us for free. My only complaint was that the pasta dishes were too salty, which is why I knocked off a star. Otherwise, highly recommend! Not as expensive as I thought and portions were quite generous.
Highly trained staff, a great environment. We sat at the chefs counter and watched incredible dishes being produced, the head chef was a maestro conducting his orchestra of willing cooks. One of our favorites, it is a given that the food is always very special, its that you leave having experienced something very special, this is what makes LArtusi great.
My absolute favorite restaurant in all of Manhattan! I go at least once a month (I went at least once a week when I lived closer). Amazing, hip atmosphere within a non-revealing entrance. The bar is a great place for drinks (best margarita in NYC, amazing wine selection, all the goodies) and appetizers or your entire meal.Food recommendations:Cheeses! The La Tur is my favorite, and each cheese comes with a pairing of the kitchen’s choice.Mushrooms & Egg—before I had this appetizer, I disliked both eggs and mushrooms. It’s so delicious with wonderful flavors and everyone should try it!Carpaccio—a Classic with their twist of tiny croutons...yum!As for entrees, there are so many choices, but pro tip—the tagliatelle is fresh and savory and always a must for me!If I didn’t skip all meals for the day to save room for dinner here, I sometimes skip entrees to have room for dessert because they are so delicious! The olive oil cake is to die for and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Absolute must, and definitely recommend the gelato too!The food is so good that I rarely stop to take photos! 😋P.S. Reservations can (and are) made up to a month out and they go FAST, so put in your reso sooner rather than later!
Came for a hangover fix and left a changed person. By FAR my favorite Italian spot in the village. Their pasta is chewy, fresh and wonderfully balanced. The sauce is comfortable and refreshing but never overly-cheesy (as some Italian restaurants overcompensate with). They’re known for their mushroom appetizer and with the crispy edges and loads of cheese on top - it’s easy to see why.Everyone in the restaurant is having a good time. It’s really one of those places you love to be in. Can’t wait to come back.If you see a reservation get it immediately, you won’t regret it.
We walked in and got an outdoor table in the late afternoon. The wine was tannic and tasty, the food was amazing - unique mixes of ingredients you wouldnt normally expect, but coming together so well. Weve since tried to recreate the dishes at home! The mushrooms are very savory and unique and the tagliatelle was one of the best Ive had since Bologna...great restaurant. A bit more pricy but decent.
The mushroom appetizer was excellent. The Chiara pasta was just ok. Did not appreciate any chili. Everyone liked the the Bolognese...the chocolate was disappointing..had a frozen taste..the olive oil cake was wonderful...they do not have bread surface .. criminal....one should not have to pay for bread....the server was pleasant ...my son waited a month for this reservation...over rated
Local West Village gem, place is same experience as was over a decade ago. Small notes.. odd do not provide bread for the table however can order from menu. Make up for that quirk with a pleasant surprise where 2nd bottle of sparking water considered refill so couple bucks off - nice touch. Order pasta, any of them! Maverick manager is awesome
What an interesting experience…This place has been recommended to me by so many people. SO many. I finally felt like tonight was the night to indulge myself in some yummy pasta.I get to the restaurant and the hostess seats me at the bar. I’m served by a lovely waitress who, while curt, seems certain I will have a great dining experience.I decided to ask the waitress for a full slate of recommendations as it was my first time dining here. She suggested the Gimlet, Heirloom Tomatoes + Burrata, and the White Wine Bolognese. The drink came … it was nice and strong … I could taste both the Gin and the St Germain. It was by far the best thing I put in my mouth all night. The tomatoes and burrata are next. Here was the beginning of a downhill experience. The burrata tasted of … nothing. For a moment I truly began to think I had Covid and had lost my sense of taste. It was like drinking plain milk, but coagulated, and doused in bad, sour balsamic vinegar (which had attempted to come to the rescue and failed.) The tomatoes did not taste fresh, or crisp, but instead like they’d been sitting out for a while. Again, the bad balsamic vinegar could not compensate for the lack of flavour here. There was also some stone fruit — I think it was plums — which had been soaked in vinegar as well. That was the worst part — I regretted putting them in my mouth every time, just like the weird, also soaked, croutons.PSA: Burrata and tomatoes doesn’t have to be complicated…. the ingredients, if good, should speak for themselves. This did the opposite.Next - the white wine bolognese. I thought the concept sounded interesting on paper. It let me down very quickly in real life. It had neither the hearty, rich flavour of a bolognese, nor the aromatic sweetness of a white wine. It was described as elegant… I don’t know how this cheap wine sauce could ever translate to elegant. It was beige and watery and disgusting. It kind of felt like a recipe NYT editors created to fill space in the weekly newsletter, not having ever actually served it to someone... Such a let down.I told the waitress I wasn’t satisfied and, *without question,* she offered to replace the dish for me. That’s good service. I ordered the mushroom pasta. Again, what a total let down. Lifeless mushroom ragu with an odd, gloopy, school lunch texture. Again, no taste of actual mushrooms. Again, I thought I had Covid. Visually, it looked as unappealing as it tasted. Such a shame.Once more, the waitress noticed I wasn’t enjoying myself and she offered to replace the dish before I could even really complain. At that stage though I just didn’t want to waste any more time or food, and I asked for the cheque. The manager then came out to ask about my experience, and I told her how I felt. She didnt charge me for either of the pasta dishes (as expected) and surprised me with a complimentary olive cake (unexpected!) I ended up giving it to a homeless person outside the restaurant, so no feedback there (but supposedly its their signature dessert.)Initially I thought I could give this place 3 stars: one to the manager, one to the waitress, and one to my Gimlet. Honestly that just felt like too much. I’m sorry. The waitress and manager did what I would expect at any restaurant charging their prices, but that absolutely cannot justify their terrible standard of food, and the price point they charge for truly mediocre (at best) Italian. Nonna wouldn’t just be disappointed… Nonna would be angry.Glad I finally tried it but… as far as pasta goes in NY, this is some of the worst I’ve ever had. You can literally go anywhere else and at least either price point or taste will be better. This was not the elevated dining experience that either the price point or hype commands.Did it once, and never, ever again.
This is actually my bestfriends favorite restaurant and I was indeed hooked with their pasta dishes. It is also good that they have gluten-free and vegan options. Perfectly excellent in culinary that I would love to recommend to everyone I know who will be visiting NYC.
I came in with my baby when it was freezing and snowing outside. The restaurant was empty and when I asked for a table, the hostess had the manager come and lie to me that they were filled with reservations. This was noon on a weekday. Thanks for kicking me out with my baby in the snow.
The food here is amazing. I had the chicory salad (its salad - it was as good as youd expect; dressing was lightly lemony and not over powering) and the seasonal ricotta gnudi which was wonderfully balanced with creamy ricotta cheese, savory mushrooms, tangy red onions, and sweet pops of corn sprinkled with herbs and all served over a rich broth. It was just slightly spicy which was a nice surprise. The chef also sent out a sample of the red pepper ravioli which had a wonderful smokey cheese sauce. Really wonderful food. I wanted to try dessert but I was stuffed with pasta - will have to save room next time! The place is definitely popular and quite noisy inside since its filled with happy diners.
L’Artusi is named after the famous Pellegrino Artusi. He was an Italian businessman and writer, best known as the author of Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well – a quintessential cookbook that gave cooking an artistic turn. I have a copy at home and I address it at every occasion.L’Artusi is a luxurious place giving us a modern take on traditional Italian cuisine, combining comfort and creativity. They provide a classy menu with a high percentage of personal favorites. Starting with the exotic pear and rosemary sourdough focaccia, and the roasted mushrooms, to the amazing beet casunziei and traditional spaghetti. They have a separate “executive chef” taking care of the past, so expect everything to be top-notch.The secondi are of very high quality as well! The hanger steak, the roasted chicken (despite sounding ordinary), and the charred octopus are amongst the finest in town! The L’burger is a superb and “fast” addition to the menu without being the least classy. The dolci or desserts are of finest Italian quality. Have you ever tried olive oil cake? No? Go and try theirs, it’s amazing. And the salted chocolate cake. Doesn’t taste salty at all! And grab a blood orange sorbet along the way!
5 categories, 5 stars to earn:1: Menu - 1 Star. Went for brunch on Sunday. Good options and availability.2: Ambiance - .5 star. Open kitchen feel, small. Basement type feel.3: Service - 0-.5 stars. Server seemed hungover. Didn’t really care. No menu tour.4: Food Quality - 1.5 stars. Really amazing food. The pork burger was AMAZING. Start off with the pastries. Our party of three shared entrees and it was the perfect way to enjoy multiple dishes.5: Would I go back: .5 stars. Yes, but would probably sit at the bar and have a more casual meal. The food warrants a return visit.
Really enjoyed this place, would definitely recommend! The place was busy on a Friday night but we got seated quickly at the bar. Larger parties seemed to have to wait a bit longer. The atmosphere was cozy with dimmed lights and the smell of food emanating from the open kitchen.Drink and food menus offered a large variety of options. The extensive wine menu offered many excellent vintages, and the cocktails looked amazing. The food menu was also extensive with many pastas, as well as an ample variety of meat, fish, and veggie dishes. They had three additional daily items which all sounded amazing.Service was excellent, drinks came out quickly, the main course took a little bit longer due to the full restaurant. Servers were very accommodating and helpful.
We came here for an early dinner and it was simply perfect. Firstly the food is exceptional with a special shout out to the Ravioli special stuffed with house made ricotta and egg yolk - it is sensational. Everyone bangs on about the olive cake for dessert but try the lavender ice cream as well, it’s packed with flavor and will send you to all sorts of places. Our sever Dennis really added to the experience as well. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and always ensured our glasses were full with the Lambrusco we ordered. Good job sir!
My business partner and I had a wonderful experience here in January while visiting NYC for a conference. We sat at the bar and received incredibly attentive service. We sent colleagues there the next night and they had the same wonderfully attentive experience. The vibe was cozy but lively on a cold (thankfully not too cold!) winter night. The food was delicious - really everything we tried was so good. Thanks for getting us out of mid-town and giving us an awesome NYC meal to remember!
Very lacklustre experience, unfortunately. Dishes were either over-salted, lacking in flavor, or not as described. Really wanted to like this place (post-Covid). While this may not be an annoyance for some, the fact that they didnt use the right type of ice to make certain Italian cocktails, stood out to me.
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. The food is always incredible and the atmosphere is amazing. I’m not usually a mushroom person but their mushroom salad is delicious. I also love their crudo and any of their pastas. It’s hard to get a reservation but you can always try to sit at the bar. Depending on the day the bar fills up so go at 5:30 when they open (or even before 5:30 and wait on a Friday or Saturday night)
Made a reservation & Sat outside - heater worked well & service was very attentive & friendly (thanks Will for the recommendations & great service!).Enjoyed the ricotta & quince (addictive!), Roasted mushrooms (one of their more popular dishes), & tuscan kale salad as starters.Had the butternut squash ravioli (flavorful but a bit heavy - definitely suggest getting a couple pasta dishes to share), cacio e pepe, spaghetti. The spaghetti was my fave - simple but done well. And the olive cake - phenomenal. Id eat it just with the creme & skip the sugary raisins/currants on the side.
Great pastas, we tried the special squid ink pasta of the day with sea food and it was great, so was the gnocchi. We are planning to come back to try the rest. Charred octopus was great too. Wagyu beef was on the salty side and was better with alcohol. Overall the meal was great, so was the service, just a long wait sometimes so better get a reservation in advance.
Excellent establishment. Started with the octopus and olives appetizer which was very interesting and flavorful, especially the accoutrements included with the appetizer. Now, the highlight of the night. The pasta with the mushroom bolognese was unreal. Would definitely recommend if you are in search of modern Italian dining with a twist.
Nick our waiter was absolutely fantastic and made our experience here. Thank you for being so kind, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was AMAZING! So fresh and so many flavours - get the mushrooms and any ravioli special they have on the menu!! When we are in New York again, well definitely be booking for another meal! :)
The beetroot salad was incredible and really the most memorable. The spaghetti and gluten free garganelli (with plenty of mushrooms) were also excellent. Also ordered a side of the carrots without any regrets. The sorbets for dessert were the only thing that didnt quite meet the standard of the rest of the meal. It was crumbly and frozen, a common problem with restaurant offerings. Good flavours though.Overall great experience. Recommend.
I came here with a friend about a month ago and had one of the best meals I have had in New York to date. It was a Thursday night and there was no wait for a place at the bar. We shared the Spaghetti which came in a nice white sauce, the ravioli pyramids which came in a very well seasoned cream sauce (with pears for a sweet addition if thats what youre into), the beef carpaccio (loved the crisps atop), and for dessert we had the olive oil cake (so incredibly smooth with just the right amount of sweetness). All-in-all the food was outstanding and I would love to go back to try more. The ambiance was quiet, dimly lit, great for a date. We met some really friendly guests as well and also happened to see Lady Gaga, and I know why. The food was spectacular. I tried a glass of white wine, couldnt say which, but it was nice and the collection was quite large. Definitely recommend.
We did a group dinner in the wine room (upstairs in the back) with a fixed menu. Food was amazing - starters, pasta and main course - all of it. I particularly loved the mushroom+egg appetizer, beet salad, sausage pasta, spinach stuffed pasta with squash or carrots and the steak. Vegetarian dishes were also great. Service was great too.
In all ways fabulous. Big but cozy, stylish and just a bit of a scene but not overdone, kick phenomenal bar, service attentive but not too much. Not outrageous menu or prices, not outrageous or skimpy portions, everything is just right. And the food is fabulous. Go for a date go with the parents, go with friends, or just by yourself.
Most obnoxious booking system!!!!They never answer the phone. Instead u have to listen to a long recording for nothing. They open reservations 2 weeks prior. For some reason my Resy account generated an error. Couldnt reach the restaurant or resy.No other restaurant is this difficult to work with.Terrible waste of time!
Dining here is a life-changing culinary experience. The wine list is specially curated, complete with a map of Italy showing the regions from where the wines come as well as what types of foods pair best: this is extremely helpful to the novice. The food is more than just delectable: the mouth waters before you even see the waiter approaching your table. While not especially extensive - which in a way is better - the menu is very complete, in that it has a wide variety of items for folks of every proclivity, including vegans and vegetarians, meat eaters and fish lovers alike. The truffles appetizer is absolutely astounding, and the pasta dishes are as good as what weve eaten in Positano. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly!
Three of us dined here off spec at 1830 one Friday evening, we were appointed a table with a two hour slot. It appears to be a popular restaurant in the West Village. We had the ricotta and Carpaccio to start, which we shared, then we shared three pasta dishes. The special seafood pasta, the beef and the mushroom, all were excellent providing an amazing blend of flavours. We finished with the raspberry sweet and the corn sundae, both were a fitting end to a lovely meal.. The wine list is extensive, with no house wines available, I chose a montepulciano d’abruzzo “concrete,” which was a nice red, however at $65 one of the cheapest! Overall an enjoyable meal in a relaxing environment with really good produce and excellent service.
The restaurant offers limited choice for vegetarians but for non-vegetarians there is a good choice of dishes. We had booked our table in advance. The place was very lively even for early sitting. The bread was great whilst we were going through the menu. We ordered beets-pistachio butter, scallop crudo, spaghetti with garlic, Ricotta morels peas parcels and tagliatelle bolo. Salted chocolate cake for desert was great way to finish off. Everything was very well presented, tasted great and received service with smile from Hollis. I will recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.
Right now this is my favorite restaurant in NYC. Every dish is prepared with that extra intangible, Why cant I do this at home? element. Pastas are all as good as it gets. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is perfectly trained and the best part is the value. I never leave with that all too common feeling that even after a good meal I have just being gouged. Love Love Love.
The place is big with a semi-private mezzanine for small parties and events with mix of pleasant natural and artificial lighting.Staff was extremely nice and very accommodating. They were also fast and highly professional. The owner came around a few times to check out if everything is fine. That was really personable and nice. The decorations were modern and soothing and the sound system was excellent. The place was very clean and the temperature was comfortable. The food was really good and the drinks were mixed right.I highly recommend this place.
It doesnt get much better than LArtusi. As our waiter said when we asked him to describe the type of cuisine: Italy being massaged on the shoulders by France while waving at Greece. The food was amazing. I mean really amazing. Everything we had - from apps to entrees to dessert was fantastic and full of flavor and fresh. Plated and presented beautifully. The service was impeccable. The decor was lovely. Highest reccomendation.
This has been a favorite place in the city for almost a decade. We always look forward to coming back. Everything from the consistent staff (minus the host at the front desk) to the incredible food is always makes us feel at home. The staples on the menu are the mushrooms with the egg, the spaghetti, and the olive oil cake. We love sitting at the bar and chatting with the amazing servers as well as the general manager (who weve known ever since he was a bartender there)! Reservations are hard to come by so be prompt in making them. Only tip: the hostess at the front desk should be a lot more hospitable to long-time patrons, especially when theres a bit of a wait. It takes away from the otherwise fantastic experience and doesnt start the meal on the right foot. Keep up the fabulous work - cant wait to come back for years to come!!!
What a wonderful experience. Arrived without a reservation and got a seat at the bar. Bartender was incredibly helpful with menu selections from wine through desert. The staff’s pride in the food and enthusiasm to please customers truly elevated everything. What a joy! Get a cheese plate and don’t forget the Brussel sprouts.
No wonder this is probably the Italian restaurant with the best rep in all of New York City. We were lucky to be seated immediately despite not having a reservation, but keep in mind this was 10:30 PM on a Monday. We had the pici and a daily special (a speck carbonara), both of which were spectacular. The wine list is extensive and detailed, featuring varietals from all over Italy. Service was kind and attentive, too. Overall an exceptional dining experience that crowned an exceptional last evening in town.
The Hanger Steak is one of the best meals Ive ever had in NYC. I had to order some broccoli to make up for the crispy potatoes the restaurant was out of (I think the potatoes would have been a better accompaniment) but nonetheless, it was a fine meal. The steak, which I ordered at medium temperature, was delicious. Juicy and soft to chew. My wife and I sat at the bar because the place was packed, also because we didnt make a reservation. Didnt matter, we received great service. The waiter/bartender was super nice. I recommend this place.
Im in the minority but thought this place was way overhyped. The reviews are glowing, however that wasnt our experience. The food was alright - we had the beet salad but the beets were overcooked. The kale salad was good but not great. I had cacio e pepe, it was salty. My husband had the pyramid shaped pasta with kale inside. The sauce was underwhelming. It was so super loud. The bathroom upstairs was a little dirty. The server was nice and the GM was kind enough to listen to my feedback about the food and our experience. For the price and experience, there are so many better options in the city.
My favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. I highly recommend the roasted mushrooms above anything else—even if you dont usually care for mushrooms. Above all, the execution in each of the dishes and overall is really impeccable. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the food is some of the best I have ever tasted. I will definitely be returning.I also recommend the olive oil cake for dessert.
Youll need a reservation for dinner, but its absolutely worth the wait. This is hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. The entire experience from the food to the drink to the team is simply extraordinary.Let them help you with the menu and do try the mushroom app with poached egg. Its the type of thing youll have trouble sharing with your companions.
Best restaurant Ive been to in a LONG TIME. YUMMY & GREAT VALUE FOR THE $$$. Trendy, modern, Professional staff...there is a GREAT YOUNG bartender. He is awesome. Even the hostesses are pleasant. Its hidden away, but that makes it even more intriguing. Great spot for a first date. Call for reservations or be prepared to wait a bit...the bar is also in high demand.
Italian restaurant on a quiet street in the heart of the West Village. Good date spot.Excellent food, decent drinks list, good ambience. Would recommend sitting at the bar if you’re a couple. It gets very busy, so you’ll need a reservation, or be prepared for a long wait. You can put your name on the door (they’ll take your number) and head elsewhere for a drink while you wait.Recommend.
Amazing everything. Service, food, drinks, environment!!What a wonderful place to f sad ones an evening. The wagu beef tartar ... amazing. The Squash .... incredible. We had 6 people, so we got to try a lot of different pastas and they were all incredible!!! and do not get me started on how amazing the staff was.I can’t wait to go back!!!!Thank you for a wonderful evening!!!!
A phenomenal dining experience. The escolar ceviche, golden beets, wild mushrooms, squid ink pasta, and olive oil cake were AMAZING. The entire waitstaff were super attentive and Joses recommendations made the evening exceptional. Im very, very glad I booked this dinner reservation 1 month in advance. It was TOTALLY worth the wait.

2022-06-15Yum!! Started with the focaccia which was a unique combo of blackberries and black pepper - very good but wish they served it warmer. Watermelon and beet salad was lovely. But the pastas were fantastic — highly recommend the spaghetti which had a delicious crunchy top. Service was great except I didn’t like that they didn’t even offer us dessert but instead just quickly brought over the check when we finished with the main courses. As per other reviews it seems they are quick to usher people out the door which isn’t right. Knocking 1 star just for that otherwise would give 5 for the food.

2022-04-03I can say their burger is top 12 in NYC and the hanger steak was incredible as well. The burger was so juicy and the side, potatoes, and the sauce were great! Especially the hanger steak… melts in my mouth..I’d love to go there again.Thank you!!

2022-06-02Two thumbs way up! Epitome of class and elegance without the stuffiness of an upscale restaurant. The pastas were incredible, the service was impeccable and the dessert was solid too. The ambiance is perfect for date night, catching up with friends or just an outing for good food. Would highly recommend this to anyone in NYC.

2022-01-18Longtime neighborhood gem that has gone viral with Instagram-types, L’Artusi continues to serve modern Italian fare that is phenomenally delicious. The pastas are homemade and impeccably delicious. The apps and small plates were creative and made with fresh ingredients. Loved the Tuscan kale salad and the crostone. The chicken was my favorite main.Service was a little slow, but it was very crowded on a Saturday night. The ambiance is next level. Definitely worth going if you can get yourself a reservation! And it’s EXCELLENT to bring a date you really like!

2022-07-06Wow. Just wow. This place is amazing. Easily one of the top 5 pasta places in the city for me.AMBIANCE + SERVICELocated in a two floor cute building with beautiful decor and intimate spacing, this place is a stunner. I love that they incorporated skylights to add an airiness to the restaurant. The staff is impeccable. I loved our waitress and she was incredibly helpful in navigating the menu and picking a few dishes we would like. She was super kind and helpful throughout our dinner. Moreover, at this price point, I was surprised by the attentiveness we received. Our water was continually filled, our table was cleaned between courses. Everything was wonderful and perfect.FOODThe food matched the service. I dont understand how some reviewers are saying that this isnt anything special -- because it certainly is. The food was 10/10.We got the carpaccio which was a perfect, light way to start the meal. Then we got the mushroom pasta with shavings of riccota on top which was wonderful. We also got the Nero squid ink pasta which was a real winner as well. To finish it off, we got the signature olive oil cake which was delicious. Will be back here to try the other dishes including the sorbet dessert and the other pastas. One thing I have to say is, definitely get the pastas when you dine here! Cant go wrong

2022-05-04We FINALLY got a reservation here and the wait was worth it. All our friends have told us to get the Wagyu Carpaccio but they were out unfortunately. Ended up going with the Burrata to start which was fresh and delicious. Had to get a couple pasta dishes and went with the Capellacci and the Garganelli. The latter was my favorite but both very good. The Scallops take the cake here. The carrot purée was out of this world. The Brussels sprouts with lemon and pecorino were amazing too. So so so good and will be back.Contorni- Brussels Sprouts w/ lemon, pecorinoPesce- Scallops

2022-07-03Came in for lunch on a weekend and was surprised I could get a seat at the bar with no wait. Started with some drinks which were excellent then the ricotta which was average. The tagliatelle was amazing so I highly recommend ordering that however the carbonara was a bit salty but still good.

2022-06-17Started off a little rocky as nobody was taking our order, but the food was delicious. We ordered two pasta dishes and wanted to soak up the sauce with some bread. We asked the server for some bread and he said there wasnt any unless we bought a large focaccia bread. He hesitated and then before we said anything, he told us to hold on and went into the kitchen. He came out with a small plate of bread and it ended up being complimentary! Huge thanks to the waiter and he was very kind.We enjoyed our time here and while the dim lighting isnt so good for taking photos of food, it creates a great atmosphere for date night!

2022-04-24Really delicious Italian food. I can highly recommend the spaghetti. The service was friendly and welcoming. I would say it’s a little too expensive, but that’s more an individual opinion. We sat outside, but the place also has a nice Interieur.
