Las Margaritas in other cities:
This has to be the worst Mexican joint I’ve ever been to in my life, the food is horrid and the margaritas are neon yellow with sour mix. I always try to give another chance or two but, it’s consistently bad. The staff is very nice but, i’m hungry; check out the canned pork or beef I have in front of me. #gross
Stupid rules + staff with no common sense = bad experience. My brother, wife, daughter and I walked in at 6 pm on a Saturday, big mistake. In order to get the margarita “special” (ten dollar discount) we had to sit at the high bar table, my wife is pregnant and we had my toddler with us so sitting at the high table was not an option, so we sat literally 3 feet away... and the place was empty. Apparently that doesn’t count for the margarita special and the woman in charge couldn’t understand our situation and said those are the rules and she can’t change them.I was very nice and explained we would happily sit there but couldn’t bc the high chair would be below the table so we wanted to sit on the very next low table. What if I was in a wheel chair? Then what? She went on and on that it was “Not Possible” to change the rules. So we left... didn’t eat there and walked right across the street to Oliver’s and had 8 margaritas and 3 entrees and were treated very well.Point the of the story... skip Las Margaritas and go anywhere else.
I cannot express enough how disappointed my wife and I were with this place. We arrived at 12:15pm on a Saturday on the first beautiful day of 2021. The restaurant is named Las Margaritas. They were out of frozen Margaritas. How??? I ordered a Margarita on the rocks instead, and it was a gross sugary drink from a mix. The menu said it was $9 but I was charged $10 because that’s the Brunch price. Huh? We asked for chips and salsa to start and they brought us stale chips and a shot size cup of Salsa. We asked for new chips and another round of salsa hoping for better luck. Nope. We were charged $5 for each terrible round of chips and salsa. I ordered off they’re incredibly limited menu and was supremely disappointed with my enchiladas. The sauce was strange and the chicken had little flavor. The rice that camewith the dish was crunchy. We were the only people in the restaurant for the first 20 minutes and the service was terrible. I had to get up and find the waitress to re-ask for the water I had waited 10 minutes for. How does this place stay in business?
Don’t go here. And if you are here save yourself and leave. The food was so nasty it had no flavor at all and left a bad aftertaste in your mouth. My table ordered six things and everything was horrible. Even the drinks weren’t good. The server and manager lacked customer service skills. They brought out plates that were dirty with old food smudges and crumbs. We couldn’t drink out of the water glasses because it had a foul odor. I left feeling nauseous, I might have food poisoning. I spent the rest of my night vomiting after eating here.
Inconsistency is the word to describe this place. During happy hour theyre going to serve beer for 4 $ this not the issue. The issue is there going to charge me 40% extra to change it into a chelida Basically just add lime juice and salt. This is a Mexican restaurant and they also charged us for chips and salsa. When I go to the BS fast food chain green cactus they dont even charge for that. A positive I will add is that they were cordial enough to replace my soup that had a bee fly into it. Like I said to describe them as inconsistent.
Was looking for a place to wind down a weekend and came across this place. Given its name I thought theyd have a good choice of margaritas but Not. Plus the two types of margaritas I had where nothing special. The calamari and tacos appetizers I shared with my buddy were just so regular. At least the staff were nice and did not rush us. Maybe because they were not busy . Note - a little girl next to our table had part of her bday celebration there and the parents i guess with her requested a cake (not my choice to celebrate a young kids bday) but the staff could have at least given the nice kiddo with a more enthused bday singing since there were at least 6 of them .
I came with high expectations from the reviews I saw here. The margaritas amazing. But the food, nothing I enjoyed. My friend and I order nachos and guacamole, elote and fried calamari as appetizers. The guacamole was flavorless not even mashed, the elote was tasty (the best out of everything) and the calamari the breaded taste bland, flavorless and I thought the sauce and lemon will fix it but no. We order the parrillada for two or something called like that, here is where the flavor went away, wow!! Not happy at all with the food, however the customer service was great, and for good margaritas I’ll totally recommend it.
Food was exceptionally bland. Worst restaurant food i’ve ever eaten. I ordered the shrimp tacos and the ingredients were obviously old. The lettuce and avocados were brown, the shrimp was over-cooked, and I found a shell in my food. My friend ordered the enchiladas and the taste of the salsa verde was horrendous. The piña coladas were watery. We were offered dirty plates with food on them and charged $7 for a bottle of water. Food here is inedible and manager lacked customer service skills. Our total for 5 people came to $165 for 5 entrees, an appetizer and 3 drinks.
Excellent food and drink, outstanding margaritas (hence the namesake) but Ive had mixed to mediocre service. A friend of mine and I were sat outside around 640PM recently. Within a fifteen minute period give or take afterwards, tables near us were sat, as happens, its a restaurant nearing the end of happy hour. From what I could tell, the section we were in was different than the other tables as far as server assignments. My friend and I put in our app + dinner order during this time. We waited around 45 minutes for the appetizer order of nachos to come out, during which time the other tables around us received their food, not just apps, but their full entree meals. I didnt want to be that guy, but after a certain point we had to say something and inquire about our food. The food was brought out hastily not long after and was worth the wait, but by that point I was no longer Team Margaritas as I was when I had first walked in. Id gone in with a friend hyping up the place as some of the best Mexican food in Astoria and left pretty disappointed by the service. Things happen, restaurant work is hectic, I understand that, Ive been there. I wouldnt dissuade others from going here as I can see theyre a respectable establishment with good food & drink, but to wait almost 50 minutes for an appetizer is ridiculous at any restaurant.
Always wanted to eat here. Took my family for dinner here on Sunday. It was awful. The waitress was unmotivated to say the least. The food tasted like someone warmed it up instead of making it fresh. The nachos were nasty. How do you mess up nachos?! The tacos were these small round flour discs that were gooey with hardly enough meat. And dont order the pork ones with pineapples the fruit is to cover up the pork flavor. The only thing good was the drinks. Margaritas! Tasty, strong, Id wouldve ordered the pitcher if I known the food was going to be soooo bad.I was truly dissappointed in this place.
Ive been visiting this place now for 13 years, Ive watches the place grow, the staff grow and Ive met the owner plenty of times and hes helped me put birthdays and other events together. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu, the skirt steak is to die for, calamari is well cooked and the tacos are mouthwatering. They have a great selection of alcohol and make a strong house pitcher of margaritas. You will have a great time whether you are going for lunch, brunch, dinner with friends or just enjoying happy hour. Check this place out. Ive been a patron for so long I always make sure to drop in and get a bite when Im in the area.
The food was absolutely horrible. The rice came out smelling like rice that was sitting out for a week and tasted like rice that went bad. The enchiladas had a sauce that was watered down and wasnt good at all. We told the waitress that the rice tasted as if it went bad, said she would talk to the manager and nothing happened and we were still charged full price. No debes comer aquí
The place like someone said is very welcoming, first time I was there nobody recommended me, it just looked a great place to eat and drink from the front, but when I was there I thought why is no busy or full at peak time 8 -9pm saturday night, the service was friendly great! Then later I noticed that it might be the food; tacos al pastor definetly tested they were not mexico style, the meat flavor was strange, also the onion steak plate definitely too simple, flavor was okey, the calamari was great! Any way I wrote this review because it might be helpful for you guys to see from a customer perspective and maybe someone can start testing and watching the food that is being served so you guys can have more businesses, since you already have a great location. I might come back for a beer and calamari, but the food I might try a different plate but most likely I will have to wait a little and try another time
This place was a total disappointment. The restaurant looks great from the outside and seems like the perfect place for brunch/lunch or dinner outside enjoying the nice weather. But don’t get your hopes up, this place was a horrible experience for me! The food was not fresh at all!! First of all NO BURRITO. Second, everything on the menu had meat so I asked if they could be flexible by replacing the meat by vegetables (that was impossible). Then she finally agreed with me to have some grilled peppers or something on the tacos. When our dishes came it looked so bad! My tacos was fulle with frozen over cooked cauliflower and broccoli (disgusting in a taco!), and my friend’s food tasted like it was just taken from the fridge still cold! Not mentioning that it was pricey and even the Margaritas was not good! Not worth it at all!! Save your money!
Street parking but depending on when you come it is not difficult to find parking at all. there is also meter parking around the area.Booth sitting they are very comfy and you also have that option.Loud music, if you came here for a nice romantic night and to get to know your crush, think twice. this place has a loud music agenda here, this is a place where you will scream at people across the table.Margarita flavors, one of their specialties here is the variety of margarita flavors so be wearing and go for a different type of drink.Special and special drinks they have some great specials so make sure to ask the waitress about before you make your drink order.Very accommodating for reservations, they always make sure to get all guests a table, I love that about them.Great food, the food here is pretty great, very expensive for the area where this is located but they never let me down as far as flavor. The menu has shrunk a lot since I last been here last, but that in my opinion is a good thing, I dont have time to be going through a billion pages of menu. The service is pretty good the waitress was very quick to come with menus, take our drink orders and the drinks came out very fast.I was impressed with the service specially cause it was a busy day and valentines day at that.COCONUT FROEN MARGARITA- pretty delicious, its like a pina colada with tequila and no pineaple juice, this is my favorite frozen flavored pina coladaENCHILADA DE MOLE POBLANO- here is my go to plate, I love the mole sauce they have here, I got with cheese inside, it was nice sweet and spicy, I just wish there was a bit more sour cream on top of it but none the less it was pretty nice. It came with rice and beans on the side but the enchiladas didnt even need that they stood on their own.Now here is an issue... or 2 lolThe music needs to be better for sure, and it would not hurt if they had the music a bit lower. But the big thing was that they had made the sides of rice and beans smaller and then charged 8 dollars for extra.... on the dinner for 2 they send only one order of rice and beans and nearly one person can eat it.... its not enough. They need to rethink the serving....I love this place, but they need to think a bit about the pricing per side serving cause this kind of thing can and will make people unhappy but other than that, I love it here.
Clean place but food was not up to standard. Not real Mexican food. We order nachos expecting a huge plate (like you would anywhere else) and recieved 8 nachos. I had to ask the staff for the complimentary nachos in a basket, instead of just receiving as it should be. Wont go back at all.
I still give this place two stars because I went back with my co-worker for an early dinner and drinks. I ordered the sangria because I dont care for much else on their drink menu. I asked for it without all the oranges and limes. It still wasnt very strong. The food is just ok. We ordered fajitas. Me the chicken and my friend the steak. I like that they had different vegetables like mushrooms in the grilled veggies. The place is cramped and we were sitting right next to a jukebox. People kept climbing over us to put money in to play music. The waitresses werent very attentive and again be prepared to leave smelling like food because of the sizzling platters of food that arrive to the tables.
Margaritas are pretty good, didnt get a chance to try the food. They advertise good happy hour prices, but when I dropped by on Columbus Day a few weeks ago I guess their happy hour switched. No one told us though so my friends and I wound up paying full price for a few of our drinks.
Las Margaritas is a surprising 5 Star Mexican Restaurant in the heart of Astoria, Queens. I came here with my fiancee on a date, and was genuinely surprised at not only how nice the entire restaurant was, but also how good the food was. If you are looking for good Mexican food, and/or a place to have a romantic dinner, this is a perfect place for you! The service was on point, and they also make very good margaritas as one would hope given their name! I look forward to coming back here again soon!
This place is so trash and its sad because they have such a good location and dont have good food , I live by fresh pond and they just opened one there and their food is amazing so I thought the one in Astoria was going to serve the same good food but nope they sold me little tacos and undercooked churros and charged me more and the one in fresh pond actually serves normal size tacos not minis for less money and the waitresses were kinda rude and made me feel rushed when ordering. Horrible place
The place has a really nice spot on a corner with outside seating. That said my last time there will be my final.Their already too high prices just got even higher but the final straw was when we ordered our usual pitcher of Sangria it wasnt Sangria ! What they now call Sangria is red wine with some pieces of fruit they threw in on top.If you want to charge exorbitant prices at least give a quality drink. Adios Margaritas.
I visit this place with 4 of my friends on 5 de Mayo(first time there). We order a Guacamole, 2 giant frozen Margarita and a platter. The frozen Margaritas are $30, but no where in the menu they tell you that if you want a flavor is $18 extra. Our Bill came up to $250, for 2 Margaritas 1 Guacamole & chips, and a Platter... So if you want to get rip off by paying $50 dollar for a flavor margarita, this is the place to go.
This place is great, especially in the summer when you can dine outside. the margaritas are fabulous, and the food is just as good. The steak fajita is the best ive had. The prices are a little higher than other mexican places, but not astronomical, and its well worth it. The atmosphere is perfect for a date or a group dinner.
Food is not good at all. The chicken in my sandwich was undercooked. And the sandwich wad soggy at the bottom and dripping who knows what. I barely took one bite. The fries tasted like they have been cooked in recycled oil. Chips and salsa were ok. The taco was bland and flavor less. I think Ive learned my lesson about going to places without the grade A blue sign in the front.
Got camarones al ajillo, terrible !! The sauce not even close as the real Latin one, rice was mushy and didn’t smell that l was from the day,,, l had passion fruit margarita recommended by the bartender, literally was made in less that a minute, l knew it was a bad sight, really bad and watery,,, therefore l will not come back to this place, can imagen how bad and dirty is the kitchen and the bar looks the same as well...
Just had lunch with bubby. Greasy nacho chip. Order a torta forgot to put the jalapenos. The chicken in the torta was brown old and stale. The French fries greasy and bun. The chef in the Tuesday brunch cant cook. My husband had Steak and rice and the refried beans were not pleasant. Wont be going to this place again.
Worst service ever ...the food got to the table first than the waiter. Drinks I waited like 20 mins even for a glass of water. They never said last call. The worst part was that I was trying to sorprie the person who I was with paying the check to another waiter ( which I tip the %40 of the check...) And even tough I did that they drop the check again in the table to my friend . they screw the surprise
I was here for 5 de mayo Me my girl and I were looking to have lunch why not, we got to this place somebody sat us down and that was it! we were sitting there waiting for almost 15 min. they didnt even offer us water service its horrible here not coming back to this place

2021-06-29I went there Sunday for Lunch a friend! Food was terrible! Small portion! I ordered 4 chicken tacos! Come 4 mini chichen soft tacos! Guacamole was old and dark. I had to send back. I ordered chips with red sauce! The sauce was cold and tasted terrible. They gave a sauce to use on my tacos. Looked horrible and tasted even worst. The only good thing was the chips and the margarita!!! Never going back there

2022-06-26Went with a group for taco tuesday, we were seated immediately because the restaurant was empty. That was the end of quick service–we waited about half an hour to receive our food (only 20 tacos) and were disappointed with the size and quality of what we received. We would have been satisfied with the food if it had been a short wait, since it was pretty inexpensive, but the speed of service just ruined the already mediocre experience.

2022-05-06I have lived in Astoria for a decade so I’ve had my fair share of trips to Las Margaritas over the years. I usually always get the fajitas which never disappoint me but I came here today and WOW. I had the most delicious chicken fajitas I have ever had. Its been a little while since I was last here but they were so flavorful and I think they have nice prices compared to the area. The real reason I am writing this review is because of their new server, Alejandra. She is the best representation of professional hospitality that I have ever had here in 10 years and anywhere in quite some time. What a breath of fresh air! If you want to forget all your problems for the day and just be taken care of by a pure angel just come here and ask for Alejandra !!! Thank you !!!!! Amazing service. My job in Manhattan would take you in 2 seconds

2022-06-20The environment is good, I’ve definitely had better enchiladas than theses. The flautas appetizer is way too small. Staff is nice and they try.

2021-05-01Wow- such a bad experience; party of 4 plus my infant who slept in his stroller was counted as a total for a party of 5 so they can include their gratuity. Our waitress switched on us because of the language barrier which is completely fine & understood.. no one came to ask how the food was. The beans were disgusting it looked like paste; the fried calamari was over cooked and burnt & let’s not mentioned the boil in a bag looking rice. I returned the whole plate - they took it off the bill thankfully but still kept the gratuity included and I can see why because without it they probably wouldn’t make any tip money.Las Margaritas what happened to y’all?

2022-03-25I invited my co-workers to this place and the sorrows that happened with the bad service they gave us. They never gave us cutlery, I found a hair in my food and ordered a hamburger and I never got it. the waitress treated us very quickly, she made us feel that we were nobody in that place.

2022-03-19The service and the attention is very bad and slow. The tacos are very very small and don’t have the guacamole. It took 15 minutes for them to bring a can of Coca Cola I do not recommend.

2021-06-26Atmosphere was not bad, music was very good. We ordered the queso fundido with beef. There was no beef in that at all. The chips with guacamole were not bad. But the chips were a bit staleWatermelon Mojito pitcher was deliciousThe strawberry and mango frozen margarita was not good honestly. The passion fruit would be your best choiceWhen we asked out server to please take the drink back she offered to change itWe assumed we wouldnt get charged seeing as how we did not want another drink we just wanted it removed from the table for space. She charged us for it.‼️‼️‼️Concerns were the bathroom, very dirty and the floors were extremely slippery. Trash bin was overflowing with tissue and the toilet paper rolls were not wrapped and put on top of the toilet. I washed my hands in about three separate occasions and saw no change until about closing time.‼️‼️Also Im not sure who this man was but there was a hefty man with a white dress shirt standing by the servers entrance that was watching my friend and i the whole timeIt was very inappropriate and uncomfortable. I am not sure why he was watching us and wasnt told anything. Im not sure if he worked there and thought we werent gonna pay but it was very unacceptable‼️‼️

2022-04-16Birria tacos did not taste great at all. Also the tortillas were hard and a tasted stale. For the price we paid, I was highly disappointed.
