Going to L’Atelier is the best decision we have ever made. All of the teachers care so much about the students and my daughter loves to go to school from day 1. She didn’t speak any French and her English was also not good since we speak mostly mandarin at home. But the nurturing environment makes her confident and comfortable about speaking up. After less than a year she is able to sing French songs, count in French and understand some basic French. Unfortunately we are moving to San Francisco so my daughter cannot continue here anymore. We are super sad about leaving L’Atelier. Hopefully we can find somewhere similar in the Bay Area.

L’Atelier has been a great fit for our son and family. The three teachers, Emmanuelle, Cecile, and Aurelie have been wonderful, creating an enriching environment where the kids learn not only French, but also are excited about learning. Our son has made leaps and bounds in his French ability in the past year, and we intend to send our daughter as well. Lastly, the other parents at the school are a diverse and really nice group. We are very happy to be part of the L’Atelier community!

Our daughter attended LAtelier during the 2017-2018 school year in their morning Petite Section. I can not say enough wonderful things about this school, program and the teachers. Our daughter adored them and going to school each day. The activities were excellent and well-rounded (the science activity would always connect with the reading/art activity, etc). Pre-writing is a huge focus and I appreciate this and I can see how much confidence it has given our daughter in terms of drawing and being more creative. My childs comprehension of French hugely improved and I think because of the immersion experience at the school, she is finally speaking more French back to her father who speaks to her exclusively in the language. The teachers focus is not on opening schools all over the city or creating a flashy program but on quality. And they have created a special and unique experience that our family will never forget. Their focus is on the children and their development. I also appreciated how professional they were in terms of timely email response if there was ever any issue big or small. If you have to choose between any of the French programs on the UWS, this one is Im sure the best.

My daughters both attended Latelier and loved it! The teachers are enthusiastic and well educated, and they take their work seriously. The projects and curriculum are beautiful and well designed. My daughters both learned a lot of French despite limited exposure at home. The community is lovely and warm in general, and we made some good friends there.

I can’t say enough about L’Atelier. It is such a warm environment, created by the three teachers and co-founders, Cecille, Emmanuelle, and Aurelie. My son has been there for two years and he is speaking French fluently. He will be staying for Pre-K, given how much he is thriving in their environment and the fact he can continue to be immersed in the French language and culture. They have a well thought out age appropriate curriculum to prepare them for writing, math, science and even have the added benefit of a kitchen for them to cook and an outdoor space for gardening and play time daily. Their school is very inviting, spacious and sunny with several separate dedicated spaces: a play space, classroom setting and “library” or reading room. It’s in a townhouse which gives a nice warm feeling for kids their age, which was in stark contrast to some of the more industrial buildings or small dark spaces that I saw in other programs. In addition this, it is a nice community. The parents are diverse and have been lovely. L’Atelier is truly a gem on the UWS and arguably in this city! I congratulate you on discovering it and hope you would consider it as I have to educate your children at such a crucial time in their development.

I was raised in France and lAtelier reminds me so much of the French maternelle schools. Its the real thing. The three teachers of lAtelier are incredibly caring and professional. Out first son attended Petite Section in 2016-17 and then Grande Section the following year and usually came home with a smile, beautiful and original art projects and better social skills. As far as acquiring the language, I speak to him in French only and his mom, who is his primary care giver, speaks to him only in English, and lAtelier helped make French his first language.

Weve had two of our children attend LAtelier, and both had amazing experiences. The teachers are as kind as they are professional. Our children loved going there every day, and, most importantly, learned so much more than we expected. When our third little one is old enough, shell definitely be attending also.

L’Atelier is a true gem. The three incredible women who run it are native French speakers who have created an immersive & nurturing environment and an artistic & academically strong program. We have been delighted by how our daughter (now 3) enjoys writing her name, singing french songs, and planting flowers in the garden; not to mention observing how her French conprehension has blossomed. I highly recommend L’Atelier!

We absolutely love this school and so does our son. The teachers are so caring and energetic. They have a great curriculum and my son has grown leaps and bounds in french, but also in his fine motor skills, math and pre reading. They really have a great course of study for the little ones, which was hard for me to imagine when we applied and our son wasn’t yet two years old. He’s been challenged and also cared for quite a lot. We would recommend this school to anyone looking for a nursery or pre school that will have elements of real learning, a family atmosphere and a truly nurturing environment. The teachers are all real professionals in early childhood development and we feel so lucky to have found them. Beyond that, we’ve found a great community of parents - many of them with two working parents like us. Thank you!!
