I dined here yesterday and was very disappointed. I came from out of town to visit my friend and I found this place on social media and wanted to go. We were shocked that there were reservations available on a Friday night considering the location but after our experience it made total sense. Once we were seated we were looking over the menu and I mentioned I may get the shrimp dim sum and my friend showed me a photo of it from online that she saw. Our server came over to our table and said “I saw you looking at the dim sum - don’t get it.” We were a little taken aback and my friend asked him what he recommended. His response was “well definitely not the dim sum, we aren’t an Asian restaurant so it’s not good.” He then proceeded to name about 10 items on the menu to NOT get so after that we ended up just ordering dessert and going somewhere else for dinner. I understand it’s a French restaurant but I feel you shouldn’t have anything on your menu that isn’t good? Especially at fine dining prices. The vibe in here is very stuck up and snarky and service is terrible. Will not be back.
This restaurant was a huge disappointment. The escargot exclusive, needed more butter and to be cooked a bit longer. Undercooked escargot is not a good idea. The tie shrimp and peanut sauce Was missing the flavor of the peanuts. My friends pasta dish was not much better according to him. Overall I give the food a really big time a radio between 3 and 4. On the bright side The space is very pleasing and the service was quite attentive.
Relaxing oasis after a day of shopping downstairs. Brunch after mass at St. Patricks across the street. Bridal party with all the beautiful ladies. The art deco decor is exquisite. The servers are exceptionally friendly. The French cuisine hit the spot with every tasty bite. Merci beaucoup! We love you!
My mom & I stumbled across L’Avenue unexpectedly and couldn’t be happier. The restaurant is situated in a private spot, away from the main shopping area at Saks. Food was excellent and so was the service. The elevated ambience and calming, glowy lighting make for a great dining experience. You can tell that a lot of thought was put into the restaurant’s layout and decor. Elegant but not stuffy, it is a perfect place to bring along your favorite person for a memorable meal. L’Avenue may just be my new favorite restaurant in NYC. I know I will be returning back many times!!!
I wasnt sure what to expect from a department store restaurant but heard good things. First off the atmosphere was beautiful and the tables spread out nicely. The food was exceptional with lots of options and wonderful drinks. The restaurant was very busy so service was good but not great. Its a bit touristy but I have to admit a highlight was the view as you look over Rockefeller Plaza and the great Christmas tree. Id definitely recommend for a special occasion meal.
Elegant restaurant with nice ambience. Food was delicious but our waiter was not the most attentive. Get the complimentary bread and butter - warm fresh bread with really good individually portioned butter. Filet mignon 5/5, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Spicy lobster pasta 5/5, huge chunks of lobster meat. Mashed potato side 3/5, too much cream. Green vegetables side 3/5, assorted steamed greens including snap peas, broccoli, and romanesco broccoli were fine but pretty bland. Overall, had a great experience and would recommend to go, especially to try their entrees!
This is just a great spot for food and for the senses. So about the food the sliced avocado is the best sliced avocado in the world served with a vinaigrette that is tart and savory in equal portions and perfect toast. And the vegan curried vegetables are pefect time after time on the best Jasmine rice in Gotham. The ceviche, the grilled duck are also extraordinary and the presentation is elegant and enhanced by a very friendly and will trained staff. As for the senses, the view is full Gotham especially by night and the diners are devils in Prada and fun to be with.
Burratta and eggplant so good. the lobster pasta was made to my liking which is not spicy.... morel rigatoni and king crab salad was good too. The ambiance remind me that Ive got to ski vail mountain, squaw valley and Northstar again. Wait staff had a good sense of humor. All in all memorable and will go back
What a MAJOR DiSAPPOINTMENT!!!I had friends in town and since they would be shopping Saks I thought drinks @ The Terrace ( located one floor down and outside ) and then dinner in the main dining room of lAvenue would be a nice finish to a nice day.MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!Actually the experience was so bad @ The Terrace we left without even finishing our drinks. Service was RUDE....served with a helping of attitude from server Stephanie.I can understand why the place was practically empty -- New Yorkers must have gotten the word and are wisely avoiding this train wreck. We retreated post haste to Osteria del Bianco, a few steps away @ 22 East 49th St and had a delightful evening. Ambiance, Service and Food outstanding!!! As always, they are pleased to welcome guests and provide a proper epicurian experience. With so many great dining options in the midtown area dont subject yourself to lAvenue.Instead of stars I rate👎👎👎👎👎
Would love to give them 5 stars, but couldn’t due to the amount of gnats outdoor.I understand bugs are outside however the amount of them was a bit gross. Some tables even asked to be moved indoors due to the big problem. Is there a reason why an exterminator couldn’t be called in?The waiter was very nice and knowledgeable!
We had lunch on Monday December 16th. Cocktails and service were excellent. The $39 burger came with fries that were cold. My omelet was dry and like a pancake( not the usual style). Upon leaving we complained to the manager and were told that many customers were not happy with omelet. He proceeded to take my email and indicated he would respond. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM. Very disappointing.
Honestly, had a fantastic time at LAvenue. The food, service and ambiance were all top notch. I had the ceviche to start, followed by the spicy lobster pasta. The ceviche was wonderful and honestly probably enough food for a whole meal. The spicy lobster pasta was in fact spicy, which was great for me because I like spicy food, but I could see how it could be too hot for some. I didnt order dessert but some at my table did and they all looked delicious. I also had a dry Manhattan and it was fantastic. Would definitely recommend LAvenue!
Have visited the place now a few times and invariably was very disappointed about service and food. Staff at the entrance is rude. They ignored us for a minute, chatting with each other before they even greeted us. Then they made us wait 10 minutes although the place was half empty. The Crispy Peking Duck had a rubbery, fatty skin and was clearly mislabeled on the menu. Avoid this place!

2022-06-19My friend invited me to try this restaurant. I like the decor and design since I walked it. Good lighting and beautiful decor in every corner of the restaurant. Friendly hostess and great service. We enjoyed our our food and vibes. Food is good for me not excellent. Drink is way too sweet which I couldn’t finish it. (77’blackout), my friend ordered same drink, and couldn’t finished it either. No one came check if we enjoyed our drink or not.The service is good but it’s pretty rush us by trying to take everything out of the table without asking if we finished it yet. One of my friend were eating her food, but they were trying to take every side dish out which made my friend feel really bad and lose her appetite. Another one was eating her bread but they took her plate then she told the guy she was still eating butter with her bread. It was not a big deal, but I believe it could be better.

2022-06-24Fantastic views and a casual menu for this top of the store restaurant with an amazing entrance and ambiance. When in good weather, ask to be seated in the terrace where you have the best views of Rockefeller center and the city. It also has a nice elegant bar for drinks that opens in the afternoon. Friendly service and a casual menu that is in pair with New York and the location. Good selection of wines on the high end price but worth it, cant go wrong. Food is excellent as expected and it is recommended at anytime of the day, we had brunch and was fantastic, specially in the terrace. The inside restaurant is very elegant but lacks the views you have from the terrace. So many places to visit in NY, this is one for sure.

2021-12-15Walked in to have drinks and were quickly greeted by 2 very rude hostesses. We were informed that we could only stay till 3:30. Completely understandable since they were having a private party. However…It’s not what you say, it is how you say it.We were then seated in the middle of the bar area when clearly there were other cozier seating areas available. We were offered a drink menu which only offered champagne and wines. Many other drinks available. We are at locals who come in to Manhattan often. We had never been into this bar and thought to give it a try since we were right across looking at the tree.Very disappointing!

2022-06-055 stars for their rigatoni & cocktails & pretty much everything else! Everyone from the security to the hostess to the servers were so friendly. The ambiance is incredible, feels really elegant and cosy at the same time, like you’re in a close friend’s fancy living room. Also weird note - but the bathrooms are stunning.Food wise, I had the rigatoni so I can personally attest that it is incredible. I came with a large party and someone else at the table tried it and switched their dish lol (so guessing the bolognese she ordered wasn’t as good, but it was off menu so it doesn’t count lol). Others had the filet mignon, spicy thai beef and chicken and they all said it was amazing. I don’t remember being super impressed with the burrata but would definitely return in a heartbeat for that rigatoni again! And definitely to try other things on the menu - and of course for the gorgeous ambiance.

2022-03-05We live in a world where mediocre food and service are marked by a high price tag. What if we lived in a world where they would actually take away entitlement and serve you the food you pay for and actually provide you with a high standard of dining? The restaurant cant provide high quality food. The presentation lacks attention. When you take a bite, you wonder what happened with the fresh flavors, fresh pasta, and good quality wine. The only thing keeping this restaurant going is the social hype. There are three positive aspects: a friendly hostess, good lighting, and a stylish interior.

2022-03-28I was invited to dine at L`Avenue, which is a French restaurant located at Saks Fifth Avenue. This is a great dinner spot for those wanting a nice evening out, whether it’s with friends or a date. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is a mood. It’s warm, dark and intimate. I loved everything from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. And for those that love to take photos, get your cameras and phones ready because there is a photo opportunity at every corner. Remember to also go downstairs for the bar area! L`Avenue is exactly what you would expect from a French restaurant, fancy and upscale, yet worthy. I ordered the following:– avocado tuna– chicken spring rolls– spicy thai beef– tom yam chili sea bass– famous cheesecake– Saks Smores (SOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!)The portions are great for sharing and it’s a dinner to be enjoyed, and not rushed. This is a place to splurge but I promise it’ll be one of your favorite dining experiences! And I honestly can’t wait to go back again 🙂

2021-07-19The views of the Rockefeller center are nice but must be better from the terrace downstairs . We went twice in the week. First time had a cheeseburger that was very good. It had guacamole that made it special. The other day I had the salmon with a sweet sauce that was 7points. Oh the lime cake was a perfect dessert!
