Ordered for delivery here once. Not a good value at all. Food is relatively expensive for the area and the delivery charge was ridiculously high ($4) especially when you consider that they arrived 20 minutes late beyond the already-high 80 minute projected delivery time for a Monday night order.Quality of food:Gaeng mussamum - 3/5... broth was flavorful but way too much dry chicken and not enough potatoes and onionsPad woosoon - 3/5... noodles were dry, probably because delivery took forever, but it had decent tasteShrimp tempura roll - 0/5... I dont know...this isnt shrimp tempura nor is it a roll. The shrimp looks like it had been cooked over and over 4 or 5 times and the sushi rice had no flavor whatsoever and no stickiness so the whole thing just kept falling apart. There was no avocado and I couldnt tell if the veggies were cucumbers or pickles (I had to pick them out because they werent fresh).
This whole dinner experience was bad.Food: got the sushi combo, definitely not sushi grade. Fish was chewy and pieces were not evenly sliced, which i would agree is the least of the problems if we had enjoyed the overall taste. The rolls - did not reAlly find any fish in there, maybe it is by design but quite surprising especially when ordering sushi combo.Service: extremely slow and inattentive. At the end, had to wait for a few minutes to get their attention, and even after we did, took more than 5 mins to get the check and credit card back. Bottom line: did not finish the food, and after we decided it was time to go, took more than 15mins to actually walk out.
I drove 20 minutes to get to this restaurant and plugged $1.00 in the parking meters for 2 cars arrived at 3:01 pm with a group of 5 people. They said they were closed!Their front door and add said they close at 3:30.They could not explain except they said this is what they do every day!If this is what you do then change your hours on how you advertise because it is a big inconvenience to the people that want to eat at your restaurant that supports you!We then walked to the Wild Ginger and had a great meal.
I usually order from here while at work. Food is great. But I ordered yesterday for delivery to my house and it took 2 hours after being told it would arrive in 45 minutes. I ordered at 12pm. At 1:05 I called and the lady said few minutes. Called back at 1:30 and she said a few minutes. Called back at 1:50 and she finally said she will call the driver to check. Got my food at 2pm. 😡
I went here on a friends recommendation and after my meal tonight this is my new favorite sushi restaurant! Sushi is very fresh, good portions and good prices. They have a great deal...$15 includes three regular sushi rolls, salad and miso soup. There specials are to die for top recommendations: Lover Roll, Supernova and Flying Crab Roll. Cost per person is mid level pricing (30/person w/o drinks). But if you use the specials then it comes out to less. Atmosphere is also nice, check out the outdoor area in the back. It is very nice!
I work 4 mins driving distance from it , I said let me try this place. Thank god I did the food is delicious and is my second favorite Thai place. there is a thai place in Manhattan that i have not been able to find near by me , but this place the basil sauce with jasmine is on point brought me back to real thai food of my experience at that thai food in Manhattan. so excited. they delivered the food asap. love it !!!!!!!!! the prices are reasonable as well.
Rock shrimp was not it was mini shrimp clumped together in a thick dumpling dough with exactly 2 baby shrimp for each 5 inch clump of overtired dough. Salmon bento box was a good size though it was disappointedly not fresh woth an aftertaste and the teriaki sauce was soooo thick. Friend had shrimp teriyaki also complained about sauce being excessively thick and viscous so u couldnt taste anything else. The size of the shrimp were decent. I eat Japenese 2 x week and have tried all the local areas and unfortunately this was least liked even among the less then average places. I saw some awards from 4-5 Yes ago but its not for japenese but fusion which may be why as they had a smaller pool to contend with. Maybe it was once good but in truth it was bad as completely unacceptable. DISAPPOINTMENT
Good Sushi and Thai mix. Our favorites: Thai Crab Cake, Tuna Tortilla, Big Tuna Sandwich, Sashimi Wrap, Flying Crab Roll, Panang Curry, and whatever duck special they are doing. What makes the food even better is that the place appeals to adults rather than teen-age girls. so you can enjoy your meal without sitting next to a table of squealing, children like so many of the other sushi places in Great Neck.
Gotta give em 5 stars because the number of things theyre doing right to draw people in and serve a high quality product outweighs the smaller incongruous things that befall almost all Asian fusion joints.Have the volcano (roll) if youre a heavyweight like me. Hahaa! But if you eat with your ego ... dont order anything else until you see this unbelievable FLAMING plate.

2018-08-02The restaurant is nicely decorated and the lighting is perfect. They have a really good selection of food, which I can guarantee will all taste great. I came in a group of 3, so each of us ordered one dish. Despite that, the portion sizes are quite large, so we had to take some home. Im looking forward to coming back for more XD

2019-03-10Coming here for dinner is always a pleasure. The prices are very reasonable, and the Asian fusion cuisine, mostly Thai, is excellent and portions are generous. The wait staff are welcoming, helpful and friendly. A lot on the menu is marked as spicy, but still there is enough to choose from thats not spicy . They have beer and wine but the one complaint I have is that the beer is usually not as cold as it should be . On Saturday evenings after parking meters dont apply, there is plenty of on-street parking. Its a good place to go with friends and not have to contend with noise in having a conversation. The decor is simple and neat.

2020-05-16The best food in great neck. We’ve been going here for the 3 yers we’ve lived in town and it is by far our favorite food. Cajun shrimp app is incredible, the curry puffs are a personal favorite, and chicken skewers are always nice. I sometime can’t stop thinking about the coconut pineapple fried rice or the drunken noodles, and my wife always gets the pad Thai which is the best we’ve had in a long time. Service can be shaky, sometimes the check take a little while, but they are always super friendly and welcoming. Also, get the Thai tea!

2019-06-27Delicious food, generous portions and friendly staff who are eager to please. All that and reasonable prices make Laverne a winner! The ambience is not fancy but very pleasant, with lovely background music that enhances the dining experience. Lots of menu choices, plenty of sushi (tasty and fresh) and an expansive selection of Thai dishes. Five stars for sure!

2020-02-06I have known this place as a Thai French fusion restaurant that also serves sushi. I have not tried the sushi here yet. I mainly stick to the Thai part. I would like to try some of the French infused dishes but I have not gotten around to it.I do love the Thai dishes that they make. The Pad Thai and deunken noodles are really good. The fried rices are really good as well. The last time I was there I got a for a mock duck in a ginger sauce which was really, really good. The mock duck was very tender and kind of duck like. I would definitely order again, and try it in a different sauce. One of the other standout dishes I have had is the soft shell crab salad. Love this dish!!!! The only problem is I have to pick out most of the peppers, it gets a bit hot if you dont. One of the go to places near me.

2019-12-07Two days ago was the first time in this good restaurant. But It is definitely not the last. We enjoyed the evening a lot with the efficient service, with the first-rate cuisine and booze and with the modest charge. We will no doubt go back there soon.

2016-08-10Awesome customer service. If theres a problem its because a group of 20 people showed up with out a reservation. Thats how awesome it is. Best Thai food in Great Neck. Better than Wild Ginger especially Pad Thai. Im a big guy and sometimes its too much for me.
