Le Pain Quotidien in other cities:
This is a great place for coffee and pastry, however, some of the employees need to brush up on their pandemic procedures as one guy brought out a tray of croissants, but his mask was down underneath his chin. Another employee, this time behind the counter actually used his bare hand to open a bag by putting hand INSIDE the bag, then put some pastry into it! Aside from that, we love coming here and look forward to the next time.
Needing to skill some time, I came to Le Pain for some coffee and a quick pastry, and I was pleasantly surprised. For being in midtown Manhatten, this place has PLENTY of space, and lots of seating. The place feels like an upscale Panera Bread, but is still casual. It was a nice place to hangout and do some work (and to take a break from the hustle and bustle outside).
Great place to have a brunch or a coffee with cake!! One of the best waffle, berries & cream I’ve ever tried! Loved the very tasty bread & pastry selection. But, do not expect a good service, specially when it is crowded. Anyway, this 5 star is for the great location and food but not for the service. ✨
I cannot explain how strange and uncomfortable this place made me.The food was good and I really enjoyed my breakfast, but I cannot get past how strange the experience was.I was on my own and was sat by the staff in a very big table right in the middle of the cafe, practically sitting in front of another lady on her own. The cafe was very empty and had lots of individual tables. The atmosphere and attitude of the staff did not match. The atmosphere of the cafe was made to be very sophisticated, playing classical music and everything. However the staff were quite loud and it just did not match. It all felt very forced and was unsettling.I can only describe it as if a non-European decided to open a “european looking” cafe but had never been to Europe.Overall, odd experience, good avocado on toast (this was just served on a small plate and the food barey fit on it which caused the waiter to accidentally knock a tomato off my plate)Also, $20 for the toast and a latte…bit steep.
I rarely give reviews, and the disappointment I experienced in this place leaves me no choice but to give a bad review so that other people won’t make the same mistake I did.First off, the decor of this place is really nice, bright and warm feeling, and it’s near my hotel, so I thought I’d give it a try. The waitress that guided me in didn’t have a bad attitude but there’s nothing good about her service either. She didn’t tell me about the self-help water or anything, leaving me thinking if she’ll ever serve water to me.And, the food. I had omelette frittata. It was not very delicious, and I think it’s hard for this dish to not taste good. I don’t know what was the problem. The eggs felt watery and it felt microwaved. The salad was ok but I didn’t like the dressing. I left the bread to take out for later, but the waitress just took my plate away without asking if I have finished. It’s really unprofessional and a bit disrespectful.Last but not least, the coffee (almond milk latte) tasted so terrible I couldn’t finish it even when I tried, and the almond croissant was sadly underwhelming. It doesn’t taste like fresh pastry at all. Oh, and the self-help water was tap water, unfiltered. In a nutshell, don’t go to this place.
There are no words to describe my experience, but there is a number; zero, nada, nolla!Prepare for an unnecessarily extended wait at the entrance as the “wait to be seated sign” begs for a human host to mount the perpetually empty host podium behind it.Forgive my curiosity, (this is the point where we should have left), but we stayed as the wait line behind us got longer. “Hmm…this place must have good food to compensate for their poor service”, we pondered. When a waiter eventually realized the (now much longer) queue, we are brought to one of the least comfortable tables I have sat in. To their credit, water and hot chocolate was delivered to the table within 10 minutes after we were seated. It was at least another 15 minutes before we could order; when the food was delivered, it was a full circle moment - the pain in their name was not in French, and I felt it. First star is because google does not allow zeros; second is for the waiter. Food was 4/10 at best. Will I return? I might…it is possible they are just having a bad day today…maybe on my next trip to New York.
This popped up on my radar while seeking breakfast options close in proximity to the art museums I wished to visit while in New York.I enjoyed the baked goods, especially the lemon tart and banana bread. For food, the smoked salmon here is superb! I had their breakfast bowl and a Benedict and that also was excellent. My first visit was so good I went back again a few days later. Definitely worth stopping in. Oh they make excellent lattes too!
I usually love this place! Perhaps the shutdown affected the quality, I don’t know..but this time around, when I got a salad to go, it came packed with greens and very little toppings. Also, it no longer comes with bread (you have to ask for it), and the piece of bread I got was so stale, I could barely break it off. The dressing was only halfway up in the little cup-dressing container and it barely covered the top of my salad. After just a couple of bites, I was left with plain arugula, for which I paid $15. Not cool, LPQ. You used to be my favorite! Also, what happened with your app? No more rewards?
The pastries here are sooo delicious!!! My mom and I loved the raisin pastry and the cheese danish. After having bad coffee at one of the coffee stalls in Bryant Park, we were super satisfied having the fresh coffee at this bakery. I would recommend this place for breakfast.
The food was excellent and the service was fine! Definitely a nice place to have breakfast or lunch at when youre visiting New York and have a small or medium-range budget for foods. Could be a little cheaper but eh, this is New-York, you dont expect anything to be cheap!
Not a great experience - will never come back!Went there with my family on July2nd for breakfast, and was seated at table in a pretty cold room. The cutlery was dirty and we politely requested a new set, which the waitress delivered while rolling her eyes. In addition to this we had to witness a loud verbal quarrel, btw. the very same waitress and another employee, which is simply unbelievable. As a consequence of this experience we decided not to tip! When my wife paid the bill, and the waitress realized that we had no intend to compensate her service she not only started complaining but raised her voice and let the other staff and guests know, that we were not tipping. The manager did not intervene - neither at the time of the employee quarrel as well as this completely outrageous attitude towards a customer. Clearly this place has very low standards.
The breakfast sandwich with crispy bacon is quite good. I added a cup of chicken soup and small cappuccino to make a full meal. Everything is lovely here — the artisan breads, pastries and coffees. You’ll find plenty of organic, local as possible, beautiful breads, good grains and healthy greens. (As illustrated by my pics)Our server was most attentive to every detail. I will be back!
Nice place, a lot of options for breakfast and brunch. The pastry seemed a bit dried out and not fresh. The lemon ginger honey tea is not well balanced, it is too sour. My chia pudding was delicious! They are a carbon neutral cafe, which I really appreciate! Service not the greatest
There was no host when I arrived, so I ordered at the counter. The cashier gave me my food cold / wrapped in plastic, and when I asked for a plate she gave me a cardboard plate to eat from while everyone else ate from real plates. The host was hanging out in the back (not at his post) and explained to me that I should have ordered from him instead of the counter if I wanted real plates. It was an uncomfortable experience.
This is my first visit on 12 Feb 2021 since NYC lifted the ban on indoor dining. The food 🥘 and coffe were good—I had the:Avocado Toast-Super Seed Bread-Hard Boiled Egg-Smoked SalmonThe super seed bread Tate fine but a bit hard to cut even with the knife. I would definitely return to this location.
This place is great! We had two things we needed to do. Charge our phones and get to MSG on time for the game (basically gave them 10 min of make our food). The host sat us at the exact place we needed to be and the waitress made sure that our food was ready for us with time to spare. Only four stars as I did not check out the washroom situation. Would be 4.5 stars if I could.
There are many outlets of the Le Pain Quotidien. But, I have to say that this one stands out. Amazing place in the heart of the city! Hardly expected the kind of space. Was quite a welcoming spot after a tiring day. The service was excellent and we got amazing suggestions. Went for one of the vegetarian quiches and avocado salmon tartines. The salmon was done to perfection - thinly sliced, rightly smoked. The quiche was how a model quiche should be - not too thick that a knife cant cut through and not so soft that you have to spoon it. Prices were fine. Overall experience was quite good, though the restroom was not that clean - perhaps that particular moment. Will surely come back!
Cozy, calm, and relaxing place to catch a late (8pm) dinner after ice skating at Bryant Park...They have an excellent assortment of salads and breakfast dishes; I had the waffle with speculoos and banana, and my bf had the Cobb salad and a quiche; we both thoroughly enjoyed all of our food. I also had the Belgian hot chocolate- I liked the way they serve it (in a little jug next to the cup of cream); it was good albeit bitter: I personally prefer my chocolate to be a little sweeter. The server was extremely attentive and friendly, which was a nice plus. The prices are substantially higher than something like Panera or Au Bon, but I do think the quality justifies it.
The lower rating is due to price value and poor service. The food was tasty but paying $30 and getting a couple eggs, bacon and bread and coffee for breakfast I expect to get a lot more. The place was mostly full but not overpacked. The wait staff ignored questions mid order and just walked away not just from me but i saw it at other tables too. Waiters rarely returned to the tables. When they did there was never any cordiality. They rushed off before you could request anything else. It took about 45 minutes to get these eggs and bacon after ordering. I saw tables around mine getting quite impatient with the food times and lack of service. Even an expensive place in nyc would have cost $10 less than this and have given more food. All that being said I did enjoy the ambience. The place seemed clean and well lit. The coffee was robust and flavorful.
Absolutely wonderful!!! The environment is calm and welcoming. The customer service is phenomenal, they always have the customer first in mind. The food was beyond delicious. It could not have been more perfect! I would gladly come back anytime just to experience this restaurant again. HIGHLY recommend!!!
Really poor service and product. Ordered turkey chilli and was told there is no soup today. Ordered a couple of hot dogs and was told there would be a six to eight minutes because the machine was broken. Pick up my hot dogs and they were rubbery the potato buns were dry and the dressing was not fresh.I would have taken them back but the line was too long and the staff appears to be very inexperienced.Go to another vendor as these people are not ready for prime time.
More than anything, the service is outstanding. I hope those guys get good salaries because they work intensely and always courteous and professional. The food is really fresh and nice. Got salads (one lentil and one Brussels sprouts). They do push the *add-on smoked salmon*. We did get it. It was a fair amount of slam on for the extra $.The place doesnt get insanely loud and it was just a nice place for lunch. It got busy around noon-2pm and there was a line to get tables.
Le Pain has a way of doing a vegan brunch that Ive seldom experienced elsewhere. Their use of fresh and locally sourced items really adds a nice touch to their plates. They have very generous portions and what you get is always delicious. Their use of flavours is top notch. Its definitely a top spot in my book for vegan eats in the city.
Great place for breakfast or lunch!Food 9/10 - nothings perfect, but it was delicious and uniquely special. Skillet-Baked Eggs were great!! + the waffle 😀. So much bread lolStaff 10/10 - theyre people, they were helpful, fast and polite 🙏 Carlos the manager was awesome also.Atmosphere 10/10 - great place! Not a local, but this is a well set up joint. Very consistent with all their locations. If you wanted to sit in a cafe all day, these are the cafes for you + wifi 👍🏼Price 9/10 - Was well worth the value.Coffee 7/10 - Its organic, thats about it. Pretentiously, its not Australian coffee but its getting better ☕️😎🙏
My first and probably the last time in this place, the service was pretty slow and the food was cold, the restrooms was really dirty, I asked the waitress for move my party to another table because they put us on a table in the way of the kitchen and she was pretty rude, even yelling.I was not comfortable!
Latte coffee to go and a pain-au-chocolat to sit in Bryant park with. Been before, a few times, so I knew I could rely on the quality of the coffee and Croissant, but as usual for this store, the staff are indifferent to the customer. There is no customer service at this location. Its a shame because I really want LPQ to have five stars. But it needs work
A disappointing experience in midtown NYC. The food was OK but far from GOOD. The toast was bitter and overroasted, the egg was not fresh, and the chicken was not tender. It’s definitely overpriced and the server was always trying to kick us out. It’s a good place to go if you want to train yourself yo be thick-skinned.
I had high hopes for this place it looked classy and everyone seemed to enjoy it but I did not. I ordered a Belgium waffle it took 45 minutes which since we were on a schedule took forever. Anyway when I got my waffle it had sugar crystals and I didnt even eat it.The only thing saving this place from 1 star is the orange juice.
Been here before COVID and it was much busier. Yesterday, although, they were only doing outdoor seating when we came. For some reason they were no longer serving any kind of drinks. We could only buy what was already bottled. It might’ve been a really busy time considering it was thanksgiving yesterday, but they only had a few pastries left and it was barely 530pm. Staff is nice. Pretty average price for juices and pastries. Convenient location and nice staff. I would return again.
Very disappointing experience waited a long time to be seated and our food wasn’t worth the wait. My breakfast bowl was cold and my wife’s quiche was barely warm. Attempted toFlag down our servers with no success for a few minutes so just ate it. Our coffee only shows up moments before our food as well. Then took 15 mins to get our check after waving at our server with credit card twice. Our server also had zero personality
Always love getting my breakfast and a nice little snack from the le pain restaurant chains... but recently at this location i have been having issues with my orders. Since the one on 44th and madison is closed on saturdays and sundays i usually come here for breakfast but i had to wait 30 minutes for oatmeal and didnt complain about it, And to top it off the lady making drinks had a serious attitude problem... i know people go through personal problems at home but shes got serious issues and this happened twice with her. Great food but some staffing adjustments is needed.
I am really love the food here. It is my favorite place. Unfortunately, since the lady hav been working here for a few months. I am really uncomfortable to step inside to order food to eat because her personality is too aggressive to customers. Not a big voice, kind of yelling when she try to communicate with customers. One day I walk to her window that she works at. I don’t know that one just for the card payment, not cash, so I handed her cash. She got so upset to me, and blamed me like you don’t listen to me what I said that this window is acceptable only card. I have to say “take it easy” to her. She acted like a kind of the end of the world. Then the white lady offer to take order instead of her.Today I go there at 8:50 am . I saw her again. I feel really unhappy, but I need a goodfood.I am standing nearby the door while I am waiting for my good coffee and delicious bread. She plays really big role , and walk to me and others ppl who are waiting for food to go. She asks us to see the vaccination card. My understanding is if we order to go no need to show the card. And nobody ask me to see it if we are not sit inside the restaurant. And it not make sense if we has to wait outside because the restaurant is huge. We are unable to here them when the the food is ready to pick up.Your foods are really good, but unpleasant the lady employee.Thank you
The manger of the le pain quotidien store next to Bryant park is extremely rude and inconsiderate. We were three families with two toddlers and three kids. She didn’t offer us a suitable table and insisted to have us seated at a table for four. Above all of that she almost shouted at us when I told her that this doesn’t make sense to have 11 people with kids and stroller to be seated at a table of four. Shouldn’t be a manger at any level. Though, one of the waiters was very nice and considerate and supportive but she didn’t allow him to help in spite of his two attempts to talk to her. Bad store manger ever!
I love LPQ, and normally enjoy the Bryant Park location. Thats why this was such a disappointing experience: they served my food in an unclean container. I was genuinely taken aback when I took this out of the to-go bag at work. When I asked the cashier to please add lemon to my iced tea, she was as kind and polite as I was. However, her colleague rolled her eyes at me and mumbled something under her breath before (literally) throwing the lemon into my cup. She was quite young (18-21), but that is not an excuse for ruining the reputation of your brand. I will not return to this location, as the quality has taken a sharp U-turn.
Since the Pain Quotidien has been sold to an American company the customer service and quality has literally plunged! The one next to Bryant Park is probably the worse one. We were waiting to be seated for at least 10 minutes until I grabbed the menu myself and took a table. I had to wait another 15 minutes to have someone taking my order and clean the table. Another good 10 minutes to receive a tea spoon and another 10 minutes to receive what I had ordered. I am a regular customer but now it’s over!! Never again!! I would strongly suggest you to go a few steps further away to that Danish bakery Ole & Steen where you will be treated well and with a good customer service.
Although this bakery is pricey good food comes with a price, especially in the big city. Both coffee and baked goods are excellent. Cant go wrong here cant go wrong here. Hope and deserves more patronage throughout the pandemic. I was the only one in the establishment at 10:00 a.m.
Used to be my favorite breakfast place... My husband and I are very disappointed. Serving sizes/portions are ridiculously small (look at the itsy bitsy quiche portion that they actually serve you compared at what is showcased at the entrance) but the price is still the same, pretty expensive and absolutely not worth it. The classic breakfast (which included a selection of breads, butter, a choice of croissant or pain chocolat, tea or hot chocolate, juices, and big marmalade and chocolate spread jars) is not anymore on the menu... Its a shame... The service is a little slow even when the place is not busy. But the guy who took care of us was very nice, smiling, so the star is for him. Ive read they have been bought by Aurify which is horrifying if you ask me. The Belgian quality and Bakers at heart concept is no more... instead money-making opportunities is king. Good luck with that.
The restaurant looked very nice when we came in, we got a table very quickly and the waitress took our order nicely. After that, we waited over 45 minutes for our food to come. First just 2 weeks of the 3 meals we ordered and after another 10 minutes the third one. They also forgot the bacon with the dutch pancakes and the egg was not boiled good enough resulting it being uneatable. Definitely would not recommend. We did get a discount on our bill.
Terrible service! We went to the small kiosk inside Bryant Park today. The service was awful, they guys in there just didn’t want to work. Me and my wife wanted to get sandwiches, they just didn’t care if we get something to eat or just better go away and leave them alone. They were rude and with zero care for customer. We would not come back to this place ever, they ruined our aftenoon.
Good food. Had a good experience last night. Waiter was very kind and friendly. The young man believed to be the manger was a sweetheart. They made my day last night. I only would suggest they should have more then one waiter at night. Both of them looked tired running to all the other customers there. They did a great job maintaining good service. But they deserve a break and they could of use the help.
As a owner of a restaurant I felt I had to write a review base on the performance I saw take place last night. I saw only one waiter and one manger. It was extremely busy. I have to applaud there team work and work ethics I thought I was going get slow bad service but they was extremely on top of it all gust was greeted promptly and serve on a timely matter. The manger was going to every table to make sure we was taken care of waiter was fast friendly took our orders with a smile. I believe also there he was a dishwasher guy. I saw him come out the kitchen just to help clean tables and bring drinks. Amazing how your team at night work well and smart. How ever in the mornings a different story. the take out area all staff seems lost and not caring always unhappy. I do not see mangers walking around. I advice what ever they got going on at night should be brought to the mornings.
A very lovely and elegant place. Healthy menu and very good selection of spirits, coffees and tea. Staff checked on you periodically and did not rush you. Wifi available. My only issue is the restrooms. They were tidy but not clean. The walls need to be scrubbed and an hourly checkin is needed. The trashcan outside the restroom was overflowing with used hand towels. The restaurant is awesome but that restroom can upset your stomach.
The coffee was delicious and the pastries were good, but our server seemed in such a rush the whole time. It made us feel like we should hurry up and finish our drinks already. Nevertheless, we were able to sit down for a bit and use the lavatories before moving. Can definitely recommend as a quick stop before or after visiting the library across the street!
Fresh, tasty options with a large vegetarian selection. Very kid friendly, inclusive of a kids menu. The tartines, soups and salads are consistently good and the seasonal options are always fun to try. Be sure to ask for the bread spreads, the dark chocolate spread is our favorite. You also cant go wrong with any of the pastries! They also have plenty of seating. Just wish the service was quicker, although our server was perfectly nice.
Think you should only come to this location if youre planning to sit down for table service. The counter is slow - sometimes the server isnt there at all and the line builds up. Take away food is over priced and not that great - $7 parfait is 90% granola. Also worth noting that the $4.50 could brew tasted like iced coffee after the ice has melted. Regretting not going to Blue Bottle next door. Line might have been long but at least you know youre getting good coffee.
Weird that there are multiple reviews saying they had vegan optionS. Walked out of my way because it was the only thing open near me that had reviews saying vegan options implying there was a variety. Went in there and the only vegan thing they had was some off salad I was not in the mood for at 9 am. Avoid if you are a hungry vegan, unless you want a plain salad with beans before 10am
Got seated at a table and ordered a croissant and iced matcha latte from the QR code. After 20 minutes, I got worried that I was supposed to have put my table number in so I went up to a server letting him know that I might’ve made a mistake. The server told me that the QR corresponds with the table number so I’m all good. 35 minutes later I still don’t have my crossiant and latte despite me being the second person to sit down and only 3 other tables full. Went up to cancel my order and my order was just sitting at the bar.
After the 2 hour bike tour we were starving and decided to stop for a break and have lunch at that small but lovely bakery in rustic chic style. The weather was pleasant so we sat outside. My boyfriend ordered the smoked salmon bowl with iced Belgian mocha and I had the warm grain bowl with sweet potato & Brussels sprouts with essential green juice. The plant-inspired dishes were very tasty and gave us enough power to continue with our bike tour.
This cafe is only a couple of minutes walk from where I stay in New York. Over the years I have eaten here a lot, especially breakfast. The food has always been tasty and fresh if a bit expensive. Last year, the service was so disinterested, the staff so apathetic and offhand (while still expecting 18% tip) that I thought I would never come back. However, today I surrendered to convenience and it tried again. What a difference the new manager, Jerry, has made. The service was prompt, friendly and engaging. The food remains very good, and the atmosphere was buzzy. There were many customers: tourists, regulars, old and young, all seeming to be enjoying their meals. Ill be back tomorrow.
Overrated breakfast. It’s convenient when your near Bryant park but I’d pass and go elsewhere. Also the food took long to arrive and the staff aren’t too welcoming. Even after waiting for 40 minutes for a piece of bread I had ordered to arrive they refused to cancel it so that I could leave ... the bread didn’t even taste that good 😶 Id recommend you to pass this place and instead grab some great bakeries and fruits from the Whole Foods (1 min away) and then have it at the park!
First time here. Place looked beautiful. The staff was very friendly. I like how I also saw the mangers helping. My waiter seem extremely busy. I thought i was going to wait a long time for someone to greet me and take my order. But I saw management was on top of it. He was was walking To every single table making sure everyone was taken care of. Less then a min he came to my table and took my order. I believe his name was Jeffey or jesse. I was amazed how all the servers was smiling and so energetic. The food was delicious. I will be coming back soon
LPQ never disappoints, but the visit today felt special because it was my first in-door dining experience at a restaurant since the start of the lockdown. After jumping through a few compliance hoops, I enjoyed a breakfast that helped me remember the simpler world we lost and might some day rediscover. Thank you.
I love the menu at Le Pain. The food us always fresh and delicious. My favorite is the bakers lunch. It is soup(your choice) salad and avacado toast. You can go healthy / vegan or something w cheese and bacon. There is something for everyone. All of the baked goods are delicious, and they make the best gazpacho in the warm weather. They have great coffee, wine and beer also. The wait staff are always friendly and accommodating.I highly recommend.
First visit, not a busy times. The small treats we ordered were good enough, but the incompetent counter service made me wish we had gone to the place a few doors down instead. The unfriendly young woman could not remember our order: three mini tarts, iced tea and chocolate milk. She could not ring us up. She called another worker for help and was bumped from the register to making drinks, where she started to make hot chocolate for us and had to be corrected again. It was aggravating to have to repeat a simple order several times. I think we were overcharged as well, but decided to let it go, I was already so over the place.
Is there such a thing as good service at Le Pain Quotidien? Ive been to more than 3 branches in New York, and the staff are just exceptionally rude and inattentive. This particular branch has a rude host taking care of the table service, who yelled at me and dismissed me when I asked if I could be seated around 2 hours before it closed. I was at the open seating area and wanted to move in to spend more time because I needed to charge my phone. I was willing to buy something more. But the host was so mean, told me that I cant sit there though I wanted to order food??? He didnt speak English well so I understand if he was stressed out, but theres no excuse to be unnecessarily rude??? Youre in the service industry. And the cafe was so empty too (it was 7 pm on a weekday). The staff at the cashiers were so taken aback by his rudeness, but it seemed like those folks were subordinates. If this chain wasnt located in a touristy area, I doubt itll ever survive.
I really like this chain of dining establishments. However, I have found that the level of service is drastically different from location to location. At this particular location, I sat for nearly fifteen minutes before someone realized I had not ordered yet. The section I was sitting in was not crowded at all, I was one of three other patrons in the rear of the restaurant. That aside, I really enjoyed my Cobb salad and coffee.
Certainly gets a bit crowded given its central location to the park. That being said, be sure to grab a seat before ordering, especially on a weekend or holiday. Otherwise, welcoming staff and excellent quality food. The perfect place for a cozy meal after a cold afternoon outside.
Staff wasn’t very friendly. The food is OK. Very simple, bread is hard, salads are dry and bland. Should be a lot better for being in midtown. For the price i expect better. I’m local, I’d get halal before I put up with their snobby attitude and zucchini noodles again.
Spent $23 on a very disappointing breakfast. The egg in the breakfast sandwich was barely cooked, I’m not just talking about a runny yolk, the whites were runny. The cafe mochas tasted sour, maybe it was the milk or maybe it was the espresso machines had not been properly rinsed after cleaning. The only thing that was worth the money was the scone, probably because it had been baked elsewhere. The problem is poor training. The girls in the booth were nice and pleasant, one girl looked lost and looked like she was learning and figuring it out as she went.I went back and asked to have the mocha exchanged for a regular black coffee and the one girl who looked like she was in charge was quick to fix the problem and even offered a baked item for the bad experience.
Ah, the lovely Bryant Park location. Quaint. Friendly service. The hot honey lemon ginger is sour, sweet, and spicy - a delightful dance for the taste buds. Its not a hint a lemon, so if you are not into sour it may not be for you. The drink is a personal favorite of mine though.
Excellent breakfast. Eggs with avocados and fried onions highly recommended. Service somehow slow for a Friday morning but server was very pleasant and knowledgeable . Cannot comment on the service at the counter though but could see there was a lineup of around 10 people most of the time
I came here for a nice breakfast after being very well recommended. Very disappointing experience. The food is ok but the service it’s just bad. You have to wait 30 min to someone take your order and then another 30 min to be served. The waitress brought us coffee and when the food came, the coffee was cold already.I saw a guy next to us complaining to the manager and a minute after she was just talking and laughing with another staff like nothing was happening. They completely forgot about us and we paid a lot because this place is VERY expensive. Maybe it was a busy day and time, but overall I left the place all frustrated and sad.
I recently had a very bad experience here. It started out well, with an attentive waiter placing me at the large table in the middle of the room. However, the second waiter who took the order simply forgot about it. After people sitting left and right from me who had arrived considerably later got their food (some of them ordered the same dish that I had ordered), I complained to the waiter. He simply responded that this could happen in the rush over lunch. No apology, no freebie. LPQ is always a hit or miss, in our experience largely depending on the management of the particular place and their hiring luck respectively. This one is a definite miss! Avoid as their are plenty if other good to great options around Bryant Park.
TLDR: Dont order the open ham sandwich.Coffee was good, nice ambience. And really lovely wait staff. However, I ordered their open French Ham sandwich and it was downright depressing. Serving size was tiny, very thin slices of ham and bread. Looked like it was made in a sad kitchen. Friends meal was great though. They did give us free dessert for such a long wait for our food though!
The management of this place is terrible. I’ve been ordering delivery from this place almost every day for the same things. For over one week, they don’t have one particular item that I want - they don’t update their menu on GrubHub, and they call you every time after you place the order and each time tell you different things. Sometimes they just give you a replacement without asking you, sometimes they ask you about replacement but refuse to give you what you want, sometimes the replacements are not available either. It’s such a headache dealing with this place. So much hassle.
I am guessing this French cafe has adapted its French attitude as well. The staff is definitely not very familiar what a good service should be like. Not only the waitress disappears on you after taking your initial order but also is having an attitude each time you ask her for something. She suggested a dish to me, saying it came with bread and butter, I got no butter. After asking for some she told me they were out. Yet 15 minutes down the road I get a piece of cold solid butter for my 3 inch bread leftover.Cappuccino served without sugar (I found that on the next table over) nor a spoon or at least a wooden stick to stir it. Not to mention a guy that cleans tables who literally invaded our table by swiping everything off it without giving us a second to respond that we were NOT finished with out food.First time in this place, enjoyed the food that was spoiled by clueless rude staff. Thanks. If you are looking for a peaceful breakfast time avoid this place at all costs. Never again for me!!!
Love this place! Bakers Lunch is always delicious, the ingredients are minimal, fresh, healthy, organic and vegan! Literally everything I could want to nourish my body. Even the kitchen staff came out to answer my questions and they were friendly, kind, patient and knowledgeable. We accidentally stayed past closing but they didnt rush us out. Apologies and thank you! :)
Been here a few times and normally quite satisfied. However this time not so much. The restaurant was half full so not extremely busy.I was having breakfast alone and asked to be seated by the window. I was informed that those seats were reserved for customers that ordered ”to go”. Can not see the logic in that and denying a customer wishes is really not conducive to achieve client satisfaction. It took 10 min to get a cup of coffee. I can almost understand that because I ordered it to be as strong as it can legally be brewed. The coffee was good.In the mean time I was literally passed a set of eating utensils across the table landing half way across the table. The utensils were wet. It would not take much longer to dry them off and place them correctly to the right of the client.I choose the skillet eggs with salmon and a side of bacon. As the food arrived I also asked for a glass of orange juice. The two eggs were the smallest eggs I have ever seen produced by a chicken. There were about seven or eight very tiny strips of salmon. The bacon was five paper thin slices that you literally could see through if you held them to the light. They were very dry and virtually had no taste. The orange juice never appeared so I had to ask for it again.I will choose a different location for breakfast next time.
Good food but a very long wait on their to go line. For a while it was just one associate who was doing something with the register before even helping a line of 5 customers. Finally a second cashier helped but it was still a line of like 4/5 people. They definitely seemed under staffed for the lunch rush. I’d skip this place if they’re busy.
The lemonade is delicious but sadly the woman who served us had the worst attitude. The woman in front of us pointed out the difference in the price on the menu vs what she was being charged and instead of explaining that menu prices don’t include the sales tax, she lectured her about how she’s in America now and that everything has tax. Then she was just rude and unfriendly to us. Hot tip: you serve a lot of tourists every day, so smile and welcome people to this city or get out of people’s faces. Even hotter tip: don’t hire people like this.
The cost of the food is a little pricey for not being used to New York City prices, and I was fairly disappointed when my $7 Belgium waffle was about the size of a tea cup saucer, BUT let me tell you—that was THE BEST waffle I’ve ever had! Although it was small, it was so dense and delicious that it totally made up for the price tag. My sister had the avocado breakfast sandwich and had about the same reaction—the portions might be small, but the flavor is BIG 😛😛
This is a very spread out restaurant right at the side of Bryant park. A great hangout location and the food is not typical. You have a new experience here and have to also deal with the boisterous atmosphere when its full. The service is prompt and the portions are sizeable and affordable.
Delicious. Four different people, four different palates, and all four of us loved it. From the Belgian Hot Chocolate to the French Cream Donut to the OUT OF THIS WORLD UNIQUE AMAZING french toast, it was all great. Careful, the salad dressing has a mustard taste not mentioned.
There was a long wait to get in here, around 20 minutes for breakfast on a Sunday morning at 10.30am. I enjoyed the poached eggs with mixed toasts, and the avocado on toast that my friend had looked good too. Everyone raved about this place so Im glad I checked it out for myself.
Me and my friend accidently found this cute little cafe kind of place during our sightseeing in New York. Le Pain Quotidien had many choices for both eating and drinking. We tried their croissant, muffins with americano coffee. The food was good and bakery items were soft and appropriately sweet, not over the top sweet and not too bland, just perfect. One can safely try this place.
A man at a register kicked me out for sitting at a restaurant for about 2 hours. I ordered food and was talking to my sister on a phone, after about 2 hours he came and asked to leave saying that they have limited sittings available, however , the restaurant was empty.I was a regular customer who was going frequently, after what has happened today , I won’t go there again.Thank you
Its not often that I give a full five star review to a franchise restaurant/chain, but this Le Pain Quotidien (say that fast three times) is absolutely amazing! The service is incredible, nice, and patient, the interior is nicely put-together and clean, and the coffee/tea selection and taste is superb.
Simply fantastic spot, I love it.Their apple cider is one of the best I had.I also tried the Paris ham and chedder open sandwich. It is as simple as it sounds but every ingredient is so good and fresh that it makes it such a wonderfully simply bite that is being overlooked at first. The interior could not be more warm and cozy, especially at night. All wooden, with charging stations for your juice loving gadgets, in the main big table. Service is very good. They also have pastries and bread which are perfect.
I have had great experiences at le pain at other locations, but this one is by far the worst. I was the only one in line and waited ten minutes before even being attended since workers were talking amongst each other. When they finally took my order, I had to repeat it 3 times before the cashier was able to put it in. Then a customer behind me ordered and they made his drink before mine. Another 10 minutes until I asked why his coffee was made before mine if I only ordered 1 and him 2 cups. Customer spilled his drink all over counter so I had to wait even longer for them to make mine. Barista had an attitude throughout this whole process. Terrible experience
Something really bad happened to this location, which used to be quite good: they ran out of red wine that was on the menu; we waited 10 min to get attention (and it was less than half full); them we waited for 40 min to get our 2 salads; then the salads turned out to be just tasteless, then we could not get a check for a while... Unlikely they will see us again.
Croissants are amazing, coffee is ok. The rude waitress made the whole experience unpleasant.I wanted to sit at the bar but I was told that you must get the food to-go to sit there, by the time I got my order the bar area was full, and this waitress would not allow me to sit at a table unless I made a second order for eating-in.

2022-03-18With this restaurant just down the block from the hotel, we decided to give it a go before leaving the city. The dining room was very nice with lots of community tables. The staff and service were a little wanting. For instance, we asked for the bread that came with a dish on two occasions but never got it. The steel cut oatmeal with walnuts was good but not great. I also understand the mushroom quiche was a 7 of 10. The latte came out bland. It was fine for the experience but wouldn’t go back again.

2022-09-18Simply exceptional. As I walked past Le Pain Quotidien I gazed beyond its front and witnessed an spacious cafe with personality and a long line. I noticed that there were three ways to get food: going to the fridge and picking up a sandwich or salad, using their app or wait to be seated. Thankfully, this day I was able to obtain a table and what a wonderful experience it was!The service was top notch, the waiter balanced his tables with grace always keeping a steady momentum without rushing me while taking my time looking at the menu and its wonderful offerings. The food tasted as if experiencing a banquet in Mount Olympus. A fresh salmon perfectly seasoned, breads and mustards that I had only experienced when traveling in Europe and a macchiato that hit all the right notes from the right acidity, perfectly balanced with milk to the appropriate portion size. This slice of heaven has a communal style of sitting, so keep that in mind if youre not comfortable sitting close to other people and download the app to pick up your banquet to go and enjoy it outdoors. If youre into Salmon words are not enough to describe what youll experience if you request it. Otherwise, treat yourself to a surprise from their menu. You wont be disappointed.

2022-01-22I loved it!!! Perfect place right across Bryan Park. The chilly soup was nice and hot. I had a ginger type of tea to warm me up, just right... I love bread, so I felt in paradise. Im definitely coming back here.

2022-07-14Super cute rustic cafe next to Bryant Park. The classical music is calming, the coffee is amazing and the service is on point. It gives you a sweet escape feeling to an upscale experience for great prices after a long day. Perfect for some peace or a coffee date. I definitely recommend you coming to check out this gem yourself.

2022-06-30It was pretty good. We were sited right away and the service was good, a little rushed but for a place as busy as this it helps thing move faster for everyone. The food was delicious and the coffee was just as good. I would recommend this place if you have the time for a sit down breakfast.

2022-03-24While the location cannot be beat as it is right across the street from Bryant Park the food breakfast is a bit lackluster. I chose to eat indoors and was hoping for a great breakfast. The coffee was very good and was an interesting cup to drink out of. I ordered the breakfast bowl and when I tried to order without sweet potatoes I was told the it was pre made, so it couldn’t be customized. It was supposed to come with a sunny side up egg and what came out was a completely cooked egg with hard yoke which made the bowl a bit less appetizing because of the missing yoke. The one saving grace is the bread and danishes which look amazing. I purchased a cheese danish for my partner and she said the lamination was very good. Not bad for a quick bit but expect premade and not made to order food.

2022-03-27Food was pretty good but nothing to brag about. The servers seemed to get into a fight about who was going to serve our table which resulted in about 20 minutes with neither coming to help. This obviously soured our experience unfortunately. Can’t beat the location right up to Bryant Park

2022-07-01Great spot for some good pastries and bread. Didn’t love the salad but it was ok.The whole wheat sourdough bread was absolutely amazing! Crunchy on the Paige, soft on the inside.Almond croissant was delicious but needs more almond paste inside of course!Lots of options here. Seating inside but not paid. Staff was pleasant.Great location right next to Bryant Park.ApplePay accepted.
