I have been a client at leJemalik salon since they opened their doors in 2017. I go almost every month to do my hair and my family and I have booked the salon for bridal makeup. The hair stylists are very professional and I have always left the salon satisfied with the final results. The salon has wonderful and welcoming atmosphere and clients are treated as family. Huda and her team provide great service, they go above and beyond to make sure you look and feel beautiful when you walk out.
Let me start by saying that I wished I had read the reviews before going to this place. There are too many reviews expressing the same issue I experienced. I was very excited to try this place as it is owned by a hijabi and wanted to support her business. Unfortunately, Im completely shocked by the whole experience and her poor service. I went there with my friend and we were going to be a bit late, to our surprise the owener, Huda insisted we pay $100 for being late and it was one of their ‘policies’, but she never mentioned about such policy when we spoke to her to make the appointment and didnt see it on their website, she also made us each do a $50 deposit which we don’t think was necessary at all and again didn’t see it on their website.I showed the hairdresser a picture of exactly what I wanted my hair to look like. It was a brownish red balayage. She told me to take my time to look at the booklet and I had plenty of time to decide. So I took my time to look through while she continued to bleach my hair. Another stylist took me to wash off the bleach and put A TONER ON MY HAIR THAT I DIDN’T CHOOSE, I was so SHOCKED that they told me I had time and now there’s a toner for the balayage color on my hair that I DID NOT CHOOSE. When I voiced that, the hairdresser that bleached my hair and to whom I explained what I wanted said that She knows what I want and she knows how to do hair so I’ll get exactly what I want. But when she washed the toner off my hair it was completely different than what I wanted and the most upsetting part was I DIDN’T GET TO CHOOSE the toner color myself. Judging from the disappointment in my face and how unfair it was to me she did another toner on me to fix the mass. However, when the second toner was washed off, my hair was even worse, the balayage looked so poorly done and it was not anything Like the photos I showed. IT’S NOT ONLY me who had this experience, at least 5 people on the review section express the same issue. After this horrible experience I called the owner, Huda Quhshi because she wasn’t present in the salon when I got it done. However, her tone was very rude, disrespectful and stubborn. HER UNPROFESSIONAL AND POOR ATTITUDE WAS THE WORST PART OF THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE. She offered for me to come to the salon again to tone my hair which I refused (because it doesn’t make sense to trust them again with my hair after ruining it not once, but twice). She also told me that she spoke to the girls referring to the hairdressers and she didnt believe they would lie to her and she trusts them, implying I was lying. This was a complete shock to me, how instead of hearing the consumers concerns, she took side with the employees and it makes sense in a way because in that case she won’t need to return a single dime. Many people on this review section mentioned Hudas poor and very unprofessional attitude towards her customers. I should’ve trusted the poor reviews here that have vocalized these same complaints. With the insane amount of money they charge for their services, it’s ridiculous to have received that treatment. They really take advantage of the fact it’s few of the hijabi friendly places around. But honestly with the same amount they charge for their services, you can easily find a decent place that will accommodate for hijabis and niqabis. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.
I cannot thank Huda enough for the magic she pulled on my hair!!! I went in for a balayage due and she delivered. She got my hair from dark brown to light silver/purple and it looks stunning I couldn’t believe that it was real hair and not one of those model photos they use for commercials. She spent the entire day making sure my hair wouldn’t break or get damaged as she kept saying hair integrity is very important. Not only did she deliver my dream hair but she was extremely PROFESSIONAL. Wow what a humble human being. I will definitely go back again and I’ll never have my hair colored by anyone else! TRUST!!!
Excellent atmosphere, comfortable and hospitable. Was offered coffee while I was waiting :) They dont overbook clients from what I saw and they transition nicely with a little clothing boutique in the basement to browse while you wait.Excellent layered haircut, color and styling. They seem to be very quick (2ish hours?) with hair styling for all of those that I saw coming in and out while my hair was getting done. Do prepare to spend up to 5 hours for cut/color or just flat ironing thick hair as they do take their time. It is not a chatty atmosphere, just casual talk, which is nice and relaxing. Extra care was taken and nose/mouth masks were offered when hair was being flat ironed at adjacent booths for those sensitive to the smell. Also, if you want to get henna done, bring your premixed henna and they will do it for you! Just let them know ahead of time. I recommend light mountain natural from Amazon! Excellent turnout and a variety of colors!
So my friend and I made last minute appointments for our graduation makeup. Coming from NJ I was dreading the commute but when I first came in, I automatically felt welcomed and extremely comfortable!! The place is very hijabi friendly and completely closed off so no one from the outside can see you.Aishah did my makeup and I wholeheartedly trusted her. She really emphasized my eyes and did a beautiful job (that my husband told me I looked 5 years younger on facetime 🤣). Aishah was very patient with me and really has a true talent.I was not sure what color hijab to wear-Huda and Aishah were really thrilled in helping me pick out a hijab color to match. We also had some issues with our photographer and Aishah was so kind to recommend us someone-thankfully we were able to resolve it. I truly wish I knew about this business when I got married! My pictures turned out perfect I’m so glad I found out about this place. Also, they’re so understanding!! I had to pump for my little one and Huda let me pump in the private room and offered to put my milk in the fridge till we were done. I don’t think I can find better hospitality than at LejeMalik! I look forward to booking my magic sleek treatment with them in the near future!Thank you so much Aishah and Huda. ❤️ This place is very hijabis dream come true!
I booked an appointment for a balayage and olaplex for my hair and keratin straightening for my sister. I was happy to finally find a place for hijabis that seemed professional and well-run.The place looks nothing like the images on Le’jamlik’s google profile; the lobby is cluttered and dusty, the salon chairs aren’t even pink anymore from how dirty they are, all the tools and product bottles are scattered around the counters haphazardly. There was lots of hair on the floor from previous clients, the straightener had heavy oil build up which caused it to very painfully tug at the hair, making my sister’s keratin experience very painful and unpleasant.I showed the hairdresser a picture of exactly what I wanted my hair to look like. It was a balayage with three different gradient shades of dark brown, light brown and blonde. She told me she coulddo it so she bleached it once. When she washed and blow dried my hair I couldn’t believe she was done. It looked NOTHING like the picture. My hair didn’t have a single shade of the ones in the picture. It was a yellow, brassy color and looked haphazardly dyed in strips. I told her it looked wrong and I wanted it to be fixed. She said my hair can’t be lighten to the blonde shade in the picture I had showed her so I told her to just take the yellow brassiness out or at least mask it with a darker color so the final result would be a light brown. She then “toned” my hair. When she washed that off and blow dried my hair, I was still left with a very similar color as the previous; yellow, brassy, but now with reddish parts. I cut my losses and was clearly not pleased with the results so the hairdresser had me talk on the phone with the owner who told me there’s nothing she could’ve done differently because “the result is 60% reliant on your hair and 40% on the hairdresser.” She then offered to continue toning my hair which I refused (because it doesn’t make sense to trust them again with my hair after ruining it not once, but twice) and walked out with only a $20 discount on an over $400 dollar encounter between me and my sister.I should’ve trusted the poor reviews here that have vocalized these same complaints. With the insane amount of money they charge for their services, it’s ridiculous to have received that treatment. I’m very dissatisfied and disappointed with the quality of care we received. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Honestly the best place for hair, makeup, the works! Especially recommend for my hijabi sisters! The vibe, the beauty, the workers all make the experience twice as amazing. The founder huda is especially so kind and so sweet. She makes sure each and every one of her customers has a great experience and leaves satisfied. Her skills are phenomenal and so is her personality! 10/10 they’ll be seeing me again!
So far I’ve gone to them two times. The first time for an olaplex treatment and the second for balayage. Both of my experiences have been beyond amazing. They are extremely professional and friendly. The owner did not do my hair, however she engaged in conversation and got to know each of her clients. I felt more like I was spending time with my friends in the salon then actually getting my hair done. She is amazing mashallah and so it the salon !!!
Loved it!This was my 3rd year coming back here for a balayage. I knew I wanted to do a cool ashy tone, but itd be a challenge since I had a red balayage. BUT Rifat did an absolutely amazing job getting my hair to an ashy tone Im in love with. Shakila (I might be spelling her name wrong so apologies 🙏) was there to quell my worries about being able to pull off an ashy color with my warm brown skin. Rifat worked with me to get me a stunning ashy color I love and I appreciated the clear communication about the reality of what we could do with my hair given the circumstances.A really warm and welcoming place especially for us hijabi women :)
When I initially found this place online I was overjoyed that such great services would be offered to hijabi women, however my mothers experience here was quite disappointing. In all fairness the staff was very nice and welcoming however their proffesionality is up to debate. The hair stylist cut my mothers hair in very uneven manner without even consulting for approval (took a handfull of hair and just chopped it off) anyone in the field know just how unprofessional this is. Additionally she was not able to get the right dye balance for the hair turned out rather orange with grey hair still remaining uncovered. After three hours she fully redyed her hair ( once again very unprofessional) and therefore as a result it appears very damaged. I would not recommend this place to anyone, most definitely not worth 95 bucks.
Huda at Lejamalek is truly an amazing find. She is so kind and courteous and really listens to what you want. I came on for a crazy hair color, and she was very excited to do it, and made me feel comfortable the whole time. Her salon is clean and inviting, and she is truly professional. Rafat cut my hair, and she was good as well. Overall a really good experience!
Let me preface this by saying that usually the staff is really friendly and understanding and the atmosphere is nice. This place used to be really good but their quality of service has significantly declined. I have been a customer for 2 years now and today I had an exceptionally bad experience. The staff member that washed my hair today was really rough and didn’t seem to be trained professionally. The water, which was really hot, went into my clothes, ear, face. A good portion of my back is still wet. I had to stand for a part of the haircut because the chairs were too low. The entire haircut, wash and coloring process was very rough and amateur. I asked for layers but I was not satisfied with what I got, which was basically a trim. This is a good business run by Muslims and for that I want to support them. I’ve had some bad experiences here before but the good parts and cheap price always brought me back however today I felt that Le Jemalik really needs to set higher standards for their service if they are to be recognized as a proper hair salon.
I had my hair done almost one year ago (yes took me this long to write a review because I was hesitant) Staff was super nice but technique and results were absolutely horrible.I asked for a hair cut and balayage.I BARELY get my hair colored (maybe 2 other times in my life) but needed to use the last of my gift certificate before it expired and was confident the salon would deliver. Was given a coloring first , in which she had to use EXTRA product (and charged me for it too cuz my hair was long, but couldn’t that have been avoided if I got my cut first??!) I didn’t say anything because 1) of my inexperience and 2) I assumed she knew what she was doing.I wanted purple balayage but was told my hair was too dark, so I settled for “caramel”. I walked out after 8 hours with orange and yellow hair (because some parts of the bleach did not take up color) and some of my baby grays were still... gray. Im not the type to complain, hence my review after almost 1 year and also could not bear to spend another minute in the salon, and also assumed ... well what else could be done to fix it, if she couldn’t do the job properly in the first place??I took a lot of time out to travel to the salon, as it’s reallyyyyyy far from me. But tbh, will not go again.Very disappointed.
They ruined my hair, this Indian lady has no experience in cuttery and cuts randomly from different angels. She messed my beautiful long hair. I asked for layers and now I have some hairs until my ears and bottom hair until my back. She didn’t have the correct tools and It looks horribly messed up! I will be going to different salon to get pixi cutt which i was never aiming for!! this is the worst experience of my life..NOT to mention the horrible treatment from staff the Muslim girl! Stay away from this Place!!!
So DISAPPOINTED. I booked an appointment for myself and my mother. The staff was so polite and we received immediate service. I really wanted to love this place, but honestly after the hair cut I recieved wont return. What should be a three layered cut with long u-shaped layers, is a very angular v-cut with straight chunks cut into it, similar to—well, a staircase. After showing the stylist a picture and addressing the lack of layers with her, she adamantly assured me that the step-like framing was layers and it would look like the picture if my hair was shorter. (My hair is slightly below mid-back.) I told her that I asked for three defined layers and this cut was one layer. Then, she started cutting again without confirming anything or asking for my consent. Its still the same, only steeper and choppier. At the expense of rudely causing a scene in front of the other clients, I waited until she was finished, paid with my mother (the total was $64 for the both of us without tip, my hair cut being ~$35) and left.Ill have to wait a month or two for my hair to grow out and pay for a private room at another salon to fix this. Please just pay the money for a private room or trim your hair at home. Im sorry to the business. What they are trying to do for the modest community is great, but it would be unjust to others to condone this quality of service. My hair is mutliated. It looks like it was caught in a vaccume and I had to cut it off. My moms hair, once straightened, looks like an uneven, shaggy mop cut. Every inch or so the legnth of her straight cut changes.Edit: A tip for those trying new salons. Ask to see the stylists license/certifications which they recieve upon graduating from their respective styling course. (Its illegal for a person without a license to practice cosmetology or hairdressing.) I forgot to this time, please dont make the same mistake.
This place is horrible! They are thieves. My wife did the Japanese Hair straightening which is supposed to keep you hair straight for a year. When she came home, there were parts of her hair that wasn’t straight. We thought we would wait a few days and see what happens. There was also a stench of chemicals in her hair but we also said we would wait a couple of days. After a few weeks we went back and the lady at the counter was flabbergasted by the way my wife’s hair looked. She couldn’t believe it! She told her she just works here but she is sure if she told the owner she would give her a refund. My wife took the number of the owner and called her. She was very rude, disrespectful and stubborn. She wouldn’t return a single dime. So I paid almost 500 for absolutely nothing except chemical smelling hair. We walked by a couple of days ago and now she has a sign on her counter that read NO REFUND. I highly recommend you never go to this place and I wish no one has to go through what we did.
My goodness! It was such a pleasure to work with Huda. She is truly talanted at what she does. There’s no words to do any justice for her beautiful work. You can tell she puts her all into what she does. My make up lasted all night and so did my hair. After working with her, there’s no one that will be beating my face besides her from now on. There was also no trial, just trust, and believe me, my make up and hair looked even better than I had imagined. Who ever goes to her is in amazing hands. Lastly, not to mention, her Salon is wowzersss, you feel like a princess as you’re getting dolled up! Mashallah!
I love this place. I got magic sleek done there. My hair was so breathable. They shampoo my hair well with great shampoo sulfate free good company for my hair. They didnt rush my service and gave me lots of attention and care to my hair. Bushra is awesome hair stylist. Follow her at hairbybushrra on Instagram
I LOVE Le’Jemalik salon! Huda, Aisha and Bushra are all so kind and make you feel at home! Bushra did a ombré ash blonde and layered cut. It came out soooo beautiful ma sha Allah. She does an amazing job! I love how honest they are about everything. My hair turned out better then I thought it would Alhamdillah! I defentialy will be coming back and I recommend this place! 😁
I was very happy when this salon was opened but very disappointed on my first visit the ladies were very sweet but sadly they are very unprofessional, the hair dye they used on my hair was far WORSE then any drug store dye and the cut was horrible! I was very upset with my results I had to redye my hair which caused me more money and a lot of damage!!! Save your money and time!!
Had a wonderful experience got my hair colored first time and Bushra was very nice and helpful she knew exactly what I wanted which is why I went back again after a few months and my hair got over bleached and ruined so bad I had a lot of hair loss its been a year now and my hair is still damaged definitely not going back again.

2021-06-19Read the reviews! The girl who did my hair was nice however, I don’t believe she had much experience in doing a balayage because she also had to consult with the owner who was not able to help with the color I was trying to aim. She could’ve said the color I wanted was not possible instead she said this is the best she could do because at the end of the day she just wanted $$$. The balayage was so bad that I had copper color showing within 2 weeks, so I had to color my hair a darker shade. Also, my sister called to request an appointment and each time she was told “no” instead of providing the best time for an appointment, clearly they also lack customer service. If you’re considering this place please just go to another hair salon because this one is not it……..

2021-05-01This salon never disappoints. I came here several times along with my mother and sister and never leave unsatisfied. Huda and her team are very professional. She always gives the best recommendations and products that are tailored for my specific hair type. It is very easy to get appointments and the salon always runs on time. I rarely ever wait for a long time. The salon is very beautifully set and follow COVID guidelines to maintain the safety of the customers. This will always be my familys go to salon.

2020-02-19The place is pretty. I’ve colored my hair here before. I did not come back because the coast was way more then I expected and prices are not clear at least when I did my hair. There was another stylist guiding her so I felt like I was an experience with the new products. I booked her for my wedding. I liked my final look but it was not the look I was going for but it was a nice. her makeup is beautiful!! I’m not in-love with her hair service. However, my whole mood was destroyed on my wedding day because we were being rushed out so I did not get to get dressed in the salon and neither was my two bridesmaids that got their hair done. Their hair was real frizzy after one hour and looked a mess in all my wedding pictures. The rest of the bridesmaids hair looked amazing. I don’t often write reviews but I’ve had a bitter experience as I could have gone to many other great artist who may have not set my mood off so badly. I was so upset and rushed my family out and then Hoda came over and said that I can get dressed there which I did not take the offer because I was already disgusted that at 2 pm you are behaving so annoyed and asking for my bridesmaids to not get dressed and the overall rush did not do well with me I have anxiety and I felt like they pumped up my anxiety so bad I could not think clearly. So yeah I don’t know who else felt this way but I can not support someone who takes all this money and then doesn’t not show their customer enough respect or gratitude. Even though I have wanted my makeup done here again I refuse to ever go back.

2020-09-05My mother and I had an appointment today for a cut and blow out, when we first walked in our temp was taken, and we were told to wash our hands after that the women began with my hair and did an absolutely amazing job she was so quick and efficient she moved onto my mother and was sure to keep that same pace we were in and out within 2hrs. I wish i had gotten the name of the women who did my hair she was so kind. This was the best experience that my mom and i have ever had at a hair salon. I definitely cannot wait to get my hair done again here!!

2020-09-11I have had my hair done here a few times and customer service was amazing! They truly listen and care about how you want your hair and makeup to look.
