Been going to The Lemon Tree for over 10 years. The most affordable place anywhere. For under $20, which includes tip to the stylist & shampoo person for a wash & cut.Hannah, Kathy and Grace are amazing. Best to ask what the hair stylist would recommend. The ladies know their stuff.
I been going to this salon for a few years now...Salon and employees are nice but I’m only giving 2 stars just because of my experience with one particular stylist name Uma who was rude to me during my scheduled appointment. She was rushing right from the beginning from when I sat down on the chair. She stated she had appointments with other clients which was inappropriate since I made an appointment as well and deserve quality service. When I complained, the store manager changed the stylist for me which did a great job. She took her time and didn’t rush at all. Two stars just to improve the customer service of the salon.
My experience wasn’t good. I am not the type to leave reviews in general but sometimes things must be addressed especially when it has occurred on multiple occasions. While I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion and views, I don’t think that a professional environment is a place to express these types of vulgar comments. I don’t understand how this isn’t a given especially when your clients may have different political views than you. The country is extremely divided as of right now and I find it beyond unprofessional that these hairstylists constantly comment on how “disgusting” the opposing political party is the entire time I was there. I personally don’t appreciate being insulted while I am meant to be relaxing getting my hair done. As I said before, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but to downright insult the opposing party while you have a customer sitting there? Very childish. I don’t care which side of the political spectrum you’re on, you don’t go and downright insult people for a straight hour and make your clients feel uncomfortable.
Just got my highlights done for the first time and it was a good experience. I had Uma work on me and she was very nice and she explained what she was doing to my hair each step of the way so I wasn’t worried. I also got my hair trimmed from there and it’s so much better than getting your hair cut at Mahek or Dolly. They are professionals. Make your appointment before you go or they’ll make you wait.
Hi,I went in tonight for a trim. My sister had an appointment but my niece and I did not. The staff went out of their way to fit us in in a timely manner. The woman at this salon are beyond amazing. Super friendly always helpful. I never go to a salon consistently but I have been coming here for years! Bravo LEMON TREE NHP😍
I love lemon tree! Ive been coming with my mother for years for haircut. We stay loyal and we go to Dawn only. My mom loves her! Although my mom isnt fluent in English, Dawn takes her time with her, doesnt treat her differently and makes sure to satisfy all her hair wants! Same with me, Dawn knows Ive been trying to grow out my hair and she cuts only as much as she needs too, for a trim. Does not make it shorter than it has to be! ALSO, the reasonable price for both shampoo and cut, YOU WONT BEAT ANYWHERE ELSE!One time, my mother went to Uma and it was horrible. She did not cut my mothers hair evenly and left some strands longer than others. I had to tell her to even it out because she clearly didnt know what she was doing. -- SO DONT GO TO UMA lol!
The lady that did my mothers hair is named Grace. She didnt listen to anything she said involving her style.1. My mother stated she only wanted an inch cut. She did not show her the hair to make sure was what she wanted and ended up 2 inches short and not right.2. My mother asked to see the color for highlights and Grace said Ill take care of it. SUUUUURE. She made the highlights a pale blond to almost white when my mother always gets a more honey blond and caramel coloring. NEVER a bright blond/white.3. My mother told her she felt the color dripping and Grace said it was nothing. Also wrong.4. She wouldnt talk while doing the hair and had a very standoff-ish vibe that was uncomfortable for my mother.I was taken care of by the lady named Joy who did my hair WONDERFULLY and for now will be going to HER. Joy gets 4 stars from me. Grace I would give a WHOPPING 0 but mom says 1.
Good place to take your wife and kids to . I have an autistic son hes high-functioning but still Autistic trying to get him to sit for a haircut was impossible the girl Rosa that cuts my hair said bring him thats 5 years ago shes the only one hell sit for a haircut she keeps him engaged and his mind off having it cut. As far as the prices go best Ive seen. Im a widower so I dont know what womens prices go for lately but they always have some sort of womens haircut special. All and all a good family place. Not high end type stuffiness. You get what you ask for and pay for what you get. I have been a Customer since 2007
Like many during this time of Covid-19, I was reluctant, and remain cautious, about going to places that may not be following the strictest guidelines. This establishment should be the poster-shop for How to Conduct a Business during such a crisis. Every rule was followed to the letter - the cleanliness, the protective coverings, the sanitizing and the attentiveness to their customers well-being were, and are, exceptional.
I actually read some of these reviews with disgust.. it definitely isnt spa like treatment but at the end of the day its not spa like prices! its very reasonable you arent there all day, it all comes down to preference I happen to rather not spend 3 hours getting my hair done. As for the racist comment... that has no grounds they have a Hispanic black and indian employee and they do Many girls with curly hair including my niece which is mixed ethnicity with EXTREMELY curly hair. the ladies are nice its not a stuffy atmosphere, they dont make you feel that they are better than you, it feels more like family. oh and as for the comment about putting water in the color to make it last, all you have to do is ask them and they will explain what and why they are doing things. I annoy them with all my questions, and Im sure if it didnt work then you would have a total different complaint. I just didnt want new people to read those comments and think badly of this salon because I love it and so do all of my friends and family.
I had been getting my hair done here for years. I went in for a simple cut back in January 2018 and came out horrified. I had shown a picture to Uma of the long shoulder length layered bob, what I usually have done, and explained I wanted the layers a bit longer because the top layer of my hair is very frizzy and curly when cut too short. She cut ONE layer into my hair: the top layer so short it barely touched the top of my ear line, and kept everything else coming down to just below my shoulders. By the time I noticed what was going on, it was too late and it had already been cut too short. There was nearly 5 inches between the lengths of the two layers. I was miserable for months until I went back with another stylist nearly 7 months later and explained the whole thing. Instead of listening to me, she was conversing with other people and clients and she cut nearly the same cut back into my hair. Its now been over a year since that first cut and my layers have still not grown back the way I would like.
This is the most horrible place to go to. I went there for a haircut and the lady took a brush with a huge bunch of hair stuck in the brush. I looked at her mortified and she was so rude when I told her she needs to use a clean brush. I had to get up and walk out of there. It is like a horrible chaotic fish market with rude people talking over your head and cutting your hair. You will come back with a headache so save yourself the torture and go to a better place where they care for their clients and treat you with respect you deserve.
The staff is very stressed and they argue with their family by phone, in front of the costumers.I never saw this kind of behavior in a hair salon!I asked to make some highlights, to cut and blow out. Im Latin woman, I have natural and beautiful curly medium hair. I washed my hair before to go.The highlights were not I was expecting, but it happens... I just didn t see difference, because my natural hair color is dark brown, but I´m easy going person and I understand that the color can look darker in doors. The hair stylist doesnt know how to blow out well or she hasnt good will to work.I didnt complain, I wasnt rude. I just didnt like her job.She was lazy and didnt dry the roots hair, then it looks ugly: my hair was completely curly in the roots and slick on the endings! I can do better than her! I blow out my hair at my home less than 8 minutes only with the dryer! When I was paying, another stupid hair stylist just realized I wasnt so happy with the job. And she said, very sarcastic and rude way: Your hair is sooooooooooo curly. She meant curly hair is something disgusting!I know my hair is curly, but my hair is easy to dry and blow out. I answered: I love my hair like my hair is... It is natural curly hair.I left without to say bye, because she was being RACIST and tried to blame my curly hair for their incompetence to blow out well. If this people dont want to deal with curly hair, just let us -- the curly hair costumers-- know about this before. They dont work well , they do everything without good will and also they are rude people. I didnt like this treatment, because I didnt complain, I didnt use bad words, I wasnt aggressive and I wasnt impolite. I just didnt like the job, but I payed. I wasnt smiling. I was just quiet.Another Indian woman also cut and blowed out, and she didnt like the job, because she wanted slicker... And her hair was curly like the mine...I came back home and I finished the blow out in just 3 minutes without flat iron, only with the dryer!IF YOUR EMPLOYESS DONT LIKE TO CUT OR BLOW OUT CURLY HAIR, JUST GIVE A GOOD TRAINING AND MATERIAL FOR THEM!Today was my first time there and never more I will come back. I prefer to travel to NJ and cut my hair with the Brazilian Hair Stylists from Newark. They cut well and make wonderful blow out, besides they are VERY POLITE and professional people. They cut African, Chinese or blond hair with the same ability. I just went to Lemon Tree because I hadn’t time to go to NJ.Stay away from this place of rude and unhappy hair stylists!I dont want gifts, coupons or free hair cut! Never I will come back to Lemon Tree. Please, just give good training and let your staff know how to give good treatment for the all the costumers. It is the first bad review that I made in my life. I respect all the professionals, but I dont like sarcasm or racism.
They dont know what theyre doing even when they say they do- NO customer loyalty. I had been going there for years to the same hair cutter for trims when I asked her if she could do a body wave she said yes and i left with a BAD perm. I had tried her for a root touch up whend I saw her once put waiter in the hair color bottle to use up more of the dye left in the bottle. I stopped using her for root touch ups but continued seeing her for trims- I should have realized and learned then that she (Hanah)_ is not a good hair dresser!!!!!!!
Got there 15mins before my appointment. Had an appoint w fran. Spoke with the lady fran, she said it will be a few mins. While i am standing there a new customer walks in. And fran takes her before me. When i inquired why, she said she is backed up. As i stood there she writes in the new customers name above my name on the appointment book in a empty space. Never going back!
I go to Lemon Tree on Hillside Ave in New Hyde Park. I see Kathy. I have short hair that she keeps beautiful. I bring in my dye box and she colors my hair with my color. (So I can afford my hair to be done). She even gives me easy hints on how to care for my hair. You should try KATHY at LEMON TREE in NEW HYDE PARK. It is the ONLY PLACE AROUND. Trust me I have been everywhere from Franklin Square, Elmont, Garden City, Mineola, Hempstead and Wantagh. If you havent been to Lemon Tree in NHP you need to be. I give 5t out of 5 stars. Way to go Kathy.

2020-12-13I have been getting my hair colored at this salon for about one year now and love it! During Covid pandemic they take all the necessary precautions and I feel very safe. The prices are fabulous and the stylists are great! Personally, Heather colors my hair and does a wonderful job!!

2020-07-22I have been going to this Lemon Tree location since I was a kid and I love it. I just went back for the first time since it reopened and I felt very safe doing so. They have you call to check in when you get there to make sure social distancing can be followed in the salon. Everyone was wearing a mask, the salon was very clean, and the employees were disinfecting after each customer. The service is always great and Fran never disappoints! Would go back again without question.

2020-07-16Went back to the Lemon Tree after salons were reopened. The salon was clean and social distancing measures were in place. I was very pleased with the service and my hair looked great after not being to a salon in over three months. Agatha never disappoints, and everyone had on masks. I had a touchup and highlights and the compliments I got from hubby and coworkers makes me feel great.

2020-07-23Being a healthcare worker during the recent pandemic, I have become extremely conscientious of how businesses are operating. Lemon Tree lived up to all of my expectations during my recent visit after the salons were allowed to reopen. They really go the extra mile to ensure the safety of both their clients and staff. Even while following all protocols, they still give the same personalized and fun service I have come to expect over the years. They get an A+ from me and I have no hesitations about returning for more services!!

2020-01-01I originally gave a good review because I bring my mom with alzheimers but last visit my mom wasnt treated very nicely. Shes 81 years old and the person was usually nice to her. So were going to a different location now. The pricing is good, the girls at the shampoo station are very kind and the guy at the front desk is always super polite. The only suggestion, bring your own shampoo, for the price youre getting for a cut and blow, theyre not using expensive shampoo and it dries out the scalp.
