I’ve been going to lemon tree for a long time , since it’s the only place my mom bought me as a kid . There are times I’ve left really happy there , and times I’ve left almost in tears . Most recently , I went in with long curly , one length hair . I said I only wanted layers , keep the length . The person doing my hair took off a solid 3 inches . That’s not keeping the length . The whole time they also seemed kinda condescending and telling me about my hair as if they knew how it would react , what it would do to a certain hair cut (they had short straight hair , mind you ) then as soon as they finished the last snip they told me that “all one length would have been best for your hair “ , which just isn’t true- and they literally just finished giving me Layers . as I said I felt very uncomfortable the whole time . When I got back in the car I was devastated . I tried speaking up but it didn’t seem to do much . I might go back there one more time for them to fix up some spots that aren’t laying right , but I think that experience has ended my lemon tree visits .
My stylist is Marcie and she is fantastic. I have always had great styling from her. She is sweet and energetic! All her staff are very nice!
Mostly a friendly place... I only go to my favorite hair dresser.. I get the very European attention . SHE takes her time and does my hair properly... no rush jobs. You need to select the person your comfortable with and be assured of a great haircut... her name is Aura.. check her out 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
I had gotten my hair done and wasnt quite pleased with it. I let it fester for 2 days and then called the salon to fix it. They were more than willing and when I went in they didnt hold it against me, in fact treated me like a usual customer and 3 of the women that worked there discussed what should be done to give me the results I wanted, the attention was lovely. The end result- beautiful! Exactly what I had explained and I felt that they rectified the situation as every business should. Im very pleased and I will be back!
Happy I was given the opportunity to have a hair stylist immediately take me in.No line. No waiting.And what a great job. My hair needed it.
I have very think and curly hair. I had Elizabeth do my hair and she LISTENS! She even asked me if I wanted a double shampoo, something Ive never been asked before. She uses a lot of product to get all of your hair. Gave me a perfect cut for my curly hair and it was a perfect cut for even when I straighten my hair. Her experience comes from herself and her kids so she definitely knows what shes doing!
When I am getting a cut; I do not like surprises and like to watch the process. However, Aura has now turned me away from the mirror; and we are now facing the window. When asked why she did this; I am reprimanded and she snaps and asks if I wanted to blow dry her hair (No, I teach) and further snarled: was I aware how hard this job was and she announced she would blow dry my hair how she wants. I was pretty shocked, as I had made an appt with Aura, and waited for Aura and we spoke about what I wanted and then a male customer came in and I had to wait for an additional half hour with color and the highlights I asked to save were gone. I wont be back.
So disappointed! i got “bob” haircut and at first after blow drying it looked good but when i went home and brushed my hair , it is so uneven and messed up! the woman that cut my hair Karen made me uncomfortable when i told her what i want and i ended up cutting my hair so short and now i hate it. now i gotta make another appointment somewhere else to fix my haircut. never going back there!
I needed a haircut, badly, for a long time. I went into The Lemon Tree because they take walk ins without too long a wait. First, I am very happy with the cut and the color -- it looks great and is what I asked for.My experience: I drove past on a Saturday, mid day, and it was packed! I put this cut off for what I hoped to be just one more day because their dozen plus chairs were filled. I walked in around 11:30am on Sunday and was able to be seated right away. But the experience of a visit to any business starts the moment that you walk in the door. I was the first person to speak - the receptionist and, I think, salon assistant were behind the front desk. After I said hello, nobody said anything to me so I said, would I be able to get a cut and all over color? The receptionist said, all over color, while the assistant (she could be the owner but she was sweeping up after all of the haircuts) just stared at me bc I walked in as they were chatting. Sorry. I said, long layers and black. She asked the girl sitting in the first chair if she could do my color, she said yes, and I walked over to her and told her what I was looking for and said, I want my hair the same color as yours. She went and mixed the color. Came back, caped the front of my body, and started applying the color. However, the back of my shirt was not covered. I sat in the chair with my hair touching my (dark gray) shirt and then walked across the room from the chair to the sink the same way. I was told to be careful and that its ok.Yes, I should have asked for the back of me to be covered.But, I shouldnt have to.She washed the color out of my hair. The shampoo part of getting my hair done is generally my favorite part. She did the whole scratching of the scalp and all that jazz but it was uncomfortable- almost painful*******The back of my head, where my skull meets my spine, is absolutely bruised. It hurts a lot.*******Once that was done, the haircut went pretty quickly. She asked if I wanted a blowout and I asked if she had time. I thought this was standard with a haircut otherwise youd be walking out with wet hair but I dont do this too often so maybe Im wrong. At the sink she mentioned that I had a lot of hair (it was very very long) and asked if I style it. I said I dont and that it doesnt even hold curls. She said that having straight hair is nice. So, when she was drying my hair, she curled it. She was really rough with the brush - pulling REALLY HARD and brushing and getting stuck in tangles. I muscled through it. But that hurt too.It looked really pretty when all was done. Ive since combed out the curls and I really like it but it wasnt a pleasant experience. My scalp hurts a lot and nobody was friendly. That matters and thats what brings someone who has walked in for the first time back.Im giving three stars because of the lovely cut and color I received. So, go here if you need your hair cut asap but wear an old shirt and bring a cooler bag with ice.
The store smelt horrible. When I was called down to get my hair cut the woman at the counter literally told me to be nice about the result of my hair cut. The lady that cut my hair completely disregarded my requests on what I wanted done with my hair and, in the end result completely botched my haircut. NEVER GOING BACK!!!!
Been here before and usually have a good experience but went in for a trim yesterday and got a serious hack job. I dont think I ever had my hair this short ever! It will grow back but I wont be going back....actually I wont need a haircut for probably a good year.It seriously is like a hair cutting college except the customer/victim is paying.
She shaved off my hair on my neck ruined my hair and I wasted $30.... I made huge mistake going to Lemon tree in Riverhead.... I am not going to Lemon tree anymore....
I went here after growing my hair out for 8 months until it was finally the right size for the cut I wanted. I showed the lady a picture and she just cut my hair on top to about a half inch. I was soooo pissed off and the fade was an uneven buzz job on the sides. So pathetic.
This place is horrible idk becuase i went to have a color correction done last christmas i had an appiontment and everything and the hair stylist cane up to me and was like asking what did i want to get done i told her a color correction wanted to go lighter and cooler with my color she took one judgemental look at ny hair and was like how is it possible you got that blonde and i was like unmm? Bleach im guessing she didnt know what to do she walked away and began talking to other employees there and i felt really stupid standing there and i did exactly what she wanted me to do walk out
Lemon Tree hair salon is the worst ...They do not listen to the customer as to how they would like their hair cut,,I used this place in a pinch for a quick haircut,,but they failed, but after using this same Lemon tree before ,I should have expected this as I have never ever gotten a good haircut from them,stay away at all cost, cut your hair yourself before entering this place
I had never been here before, I just moved here from cali. I go in and no one greets us. Two stylists and 1 receptionist just stare at us. We say hi and the reception asks what do you want? My husband gave him a surprised look and says well she wants a hair cut. One girl days go to the back. I ask excuse me, and she just points towards the back and says shampoo. Shoulda left then. I brought a very clear photo of the cut I want from 4 angles- a short inverted Bob with a front side bang, lots of layers all over. She barely glanced at it and just cut the back straight across and then blunt cut the bangs straight and was like done. I repeatedly asked for her to part it on the side and cut from the because I only wear it on the side. After the 4th time she snapped at me, ya Im gonna part it. She half parted it not in a straight line and when I asked for the sides to be tapered she pulled the across my face and ran the scissors down the length and said all done and snapped my cover off. No blow dry, no mirror to see the back. I got home and cried. Its uneven everywhere and the back isnt even layered. Its an awful cut and not at all what I asked for.
This place is great and Aura is the best! My hair is very thick and very long and she did a great job. Its like watching an artist when she cuts hair. She is great and I recommend her to everyone!
Worst Haircut Place! Layers does not mean having a 5 year old go chop chop chop! I foolishly listened to their recommendations and couldn’t stop crying afterwards. Will NEVER go back there!
Went in and was completely ignored. No one at the reception desk. Three hairdressers sat in their chairs talking and did not even glance my way, much less ask if I needed help. Perhaps they were on a lunch break but at least have the courtesy to say, “Someone will be with you shortly.” Walked out & will never go back. Horrible customer service.

I came in to get my curtain bangs cut i came out with my whole hair choppy and short in random areas of my hair i had to go to another salon for 2 hours for them to get it fixed they had to cut almost 7 inches off my hair the salon was absolutely shocked about what happened to my hair and made their best attempts to fix what was done
Horrible experience with the woman June, she was Very unpleasant. I asked not to blow dry my hair, so she stopped, for some reason still charged the $7.
Fantastic prices BUT, my hairdresser is why I go there. Great place, friendly, many hairdressers. Full service salon . They are run perfectly. I throughly recommend this salon.

This place is not the same anymore really rude had us wait 30 minutes and the salons people was just sitting around doing nothing had a lame excuse of it not her turn had to wait for the other salons person I ask the number for the supervisor and they said they dont have it i would never go there again worst place ever😠

2022-07-07My sons hair got completely butchered and i showed a pic of what i wanted short on bottom long on top and it kept getting cut shorter and looks uneven and beyond horrible i would never recommend this salon or location specifically

2021-10-14I went in without an appointment and asked for a haircut and i told the girl if she can cut my hair to just even out my hair and told her i didnt want layers or for it to be short and after she cut it one front piece was shorter then the other so i asked her to fix it and she said she’ll fix it and not make it short i got up when she was done “fixing” it and it was really short uneven and couldnt be fixed so i payed and left and now i have a uneven bob

2021-07-31I went in for a cut and color, i just wanted my bottom part buzzed down along with what i thought was a fun cute fall look. That is NOT what i got!! As you can see i have short hair. The stylist left bleach in my hair for 3 yes 3 HOURS!! Bleach should NEVER be left in hair my lenghth for longer the 15-20 minutes. My stylist was trying to lift the previous color which was red however it was quite faded since i colored it about 3 months prior. She incubated my hair for about 30 minutes since incubating hair helps lift the hair and makes a more even bleach. My appt was for 430, i showed up at 415 and did not leave till after 7. With what I wanted done, I did not find this unreasonable since stylists take more then 1 client and stack appts. However, my stylist was outside the salon most of the time talking on her phone while i was under the incubating machine. That was very unproffesional seeing as she said if you need anything, just let me know. Well i cant exactly do that if she isnt in the salon. I understand stylists cant replicate a picture, however. In the pic i showed my stylist multipul times, i did have higher expectations. My hair is now beyond brittle, fried and beyond repair. I did not get my hair dried at the salon, because i could tell how damaged my hair was. When i got home, my hair was falling out in small clumps. My color was left on for over 45 minutes and and should have been washed out after 30. This is beyond ridculous. My hair is short from me over bleaching it a little over a year ago, i finally grew out all the dead hair only to be brought back to square one again due to lack of care by my stylist who name i believe is Elizabeth. If where my hair was being dyed red anyway i really dont understand why bleach was left on so long. I did not ask for a platnium card level hair on any part of my head. I dont understand how a carmel blonde and dark eggplant color ended up a piece of hair being platnium bright red, and neon orange. Yes she did get the purple correct but thats really it. I am now stuck with beyond repairable hair that i cant even brush after a shower because it just pulled out in a clumps.

2022-02-20I don’t like to put anyone down but I’m sorry I wasn’t happy with my hair, my hair was long and all I asked for was a trim with layers that was all.. if you don’t know how to do so please put the scissors down and back away from peoples hair .. I was really upset but I could not wear my hair down because it wasn’t even so I had to cut my hair one length.. I get it that my hair will grow but it’s just the point.. u take the money fast do the job right .. thank you..

2021-06-26Rosalie was terrific! I just wanted the back of my hair trimmed, and wound up with a new hair stylist! She corrected my usual cut, restyled it and gave me pointers on how to use paste! I loved her and will definitely be back!!

2021-12-29Burned scalp with dye, did not use color that was asked for, roots are orange, hair not parted correctly, asked for trim and 4 inches was cut off, rude service, used dirty rag to clean hair, soap still remained on back of neck after rinse.
