I was so looking forward to my lox bagel from New York. I wish I had chosen a place with tables because I ordered The Traditional lox bagel sandwich and ate in the nearby park and it was a huge mess. The salmon and cream cheese kept sliding out of the sides and there were an excessive amount of onions on it. I really wish I had gone with the lox schmear under my circumstances. The salmon however was delicious and fresh along with bagel. I think had I had a table I would have enjoyed a lot more.
We recently visited the city for the first time!! What a wonderful experience we had! I can’t wait to come back to NYC! We couldn’t leave with out stopping in for one of NYC’s famous iconic Bagels! We did our homework and all all arrows pointed us to Leo’s Bagels! I had an everything bagel with sun dried tomatoes and garlic cream cheese spread! Best damn thing I’ve ever eaten!! Thanks Leo’s for completing our trip! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The bagels and their fillings are deliciousThe place was so crowded for a good reasonLong line will wait for youWe got smoked salmon and Hebrew Salami with spring onion, tomato on everything bagelThey are worth the wait but I wished for a second the bagels were a bit softerI had a hard time chewing the breadI would like recommend it
Leo’s Bagel’s was amazing - we got the Everything Bagel toasted with Tofu Scallion Cream Cheese, and the Everything Bagel toasted with Jalapeño Cream Cheese. The service was really fast, and we thoroughly enjoyed both. Definitely recommend for the quintessial NYC bagel experience!
These bagels are incredible! We got one plain bagel and was blown away with how good it tasted. The outside was the perfect crispness and the inside was very soft. It was busy Friday morning when we went but the staff did a great job of getting everyone through. I would highly recommend this place if you haven’t tried it yet!
A must when visiting NYC! Don’t be intimidated by the long line, it moves very fast. The bagels are delicious and the girl at the cash register runs that shop like a boss. We bought some bagels to fly back home with us and they were great. My favorite was everything bagel. Coffee was great too.
They arent as tasty as they used to be before pandemic. People still rave about them because there arent any other legitimate bagel options within their vicinity. Id give them 5 stars pre-pandemic but something happened with the quality after things reopened. Staff still works very hard and service is still good. Obviously demand still high too but if youre on the move to another city spot, try to find another bagel place so you can compare.
Great place to eat a bagel. Again, for us, the simpler the better. The plain bagel with butter is just amazing. The multigrain bagel could haven been more toasted to make it even better but it was also good. The plain bagel with eggs and cheddar was really good, according to his opinion ☺️ If you are in the financial district, please stop here🤤
The wait for their bagels was worth it. My mom and I stopped in on our last morning in the city for breakfast. We took our sandwiches to go and ate them by battery park. Definitely will visit again the next time Im in FiDi.Downside, no tables, so you will have to take it to go.
The best bagels in the area, and probably the city. We named our dog Leo (Im not kidding). The BECA and the Hanover Hangover are our go-to orders, but the scallion cream cheese is a favorite alternative for something lighter. The employees are so kind -- if you want a great bagel, Leos is going to give you exactly that.
Leo’s is a staple of lower Manhattan. Above average NY bagels at a reasonable price. I live in the area and probably order from here once a week. Have never messed up my online pick up order! The rest of my review is meant for new customers. Leo’s is a small place with the line almost always out the door. That said, if/when you go to Leo’s, there is no reason to hug the door frame like it’s your long lost lover coming back from war. The inside line can fit, maybe, 5-6 people. If you can’t clear the doorway, then wait outside until you can. The line doesn’t move super fast so you will still have plenty of time to figure out your order once inside. If the weather outside sucks then bring an umbrella. Plenty of people order pick-up and delivery so when you block the door you only slow down the process for everyone. Along those lines, if you’re in a party of more than 2 people - send one person in to order and/or just order online. It’s a SMALL space and all 6 people in your party do not need to wait 3 feet from the cashier. The order is still gonna take 15-20 minutes and you’re just blocking the pathway for people who ordered before you (online or in person).
The bagels are very good but (as others have already noted) very expensive when compared to other bagel shops and the place is kinda sceney so prepare to wait in line. That being said, the pastrami, egg, and cheese on a pumpernickel is 10000% worth waiting in line for and will cure a hangover. The service is 10/10. If you want a bagel here, order ahead and pick up and don’t think about the locational upcharge.Weekends are insane (read: 20-30 minutes in line) so seriously just place your order ahead of time and avoid the chaos.
When I am in nyc I stop and buy. The best. Back in NYC seeing friends and the first stop was Leos, I had to get my bakers dozen, everything, pumpernickel, sesame and garlic bagels 🥯. Always a line and fast paced. Lots of options as sandwiches or smears. One of best bagels in the world 🌎 👌 🙌 ❤.
Unfortunately not to recommend,t incredibly unfriendly and incapable staff. We ordered two bagels - while one arrived immediately, the other one was promised to come in a minute. 15 minutes later and several requests from our side, the cashier asked for the FIRST time in the kitchen if they, maybe lost the order. Turned out they did - and it took them another 5 minutes to prepare it. It was handed over without ANY excusing words and my comment was answered with a shoulder shrug. It can happen to lose an order - if it is swiftly dealt with and handed over with a sorry, no problem. But the attitude and the way this was handled is shameful
Went early morning when they opened. Line was reasonable and moved quickly. Staff was friendly and helpful. I got a beagle sandwich with Smoked salmon and it was good. Also got a regular beagle with plain cream cheese also very good. I would recommend this place and eat there again.
Amazing choice of bagels - more than 10 different kind of bagels. It is very hard to select which one you would like to try ! You can have sweet one or a salted one - there is a large of option on toppings ! You can also have fruit and yoghurt. The staff is friendly and very quick. After 8.00 you can expect a small queue due to the success of the shop !
First place we stopped for breakfast when getting into town for vacation. Bagel breakfast sandwiches were really good. It was really busy but the line went really fast. No room to eat there, but that seems to be the norm. I would recommend this Place to anyone looking for a good quick bite to eat.
I love lox on a good bagel! And this was it! Omg! These bagels (and lox) were so fresh, big and fluffy! The cream cheese, capers and lox ratio were so perfect! The bagel was so big, it’s a totally shareable portion! They had a rainbow bagel and since it was different we had to give it a try! It was so yummy too! We had it with scrambled eggs, peppers, cheese and ham. They were amazing!
Having lived in NYC for the past 10 years and having eaten a lot of bagels, this is hands down my favorite bagel spot!!! My go to is either multi grain or health grain, extra toasted, with delicious spinach dill tofu spread, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, and cucumber! Crunchy, creamy, filling, delicious! Very quick service. Grab your bagel and coffee and enjoy at any nearby park :)
Breakfast with a friend in the Queen Elizabeth II Park several steps away from Leos. I asked for the soup of the day but was told they dont have any at this location. Is there another location of Leos? The everything bagel was crisp on the outside and chewy inside, perfection. Yes, Russ and Daughters cream cheese is better but Leos is right around the corner. Stop in to Leonidas by the park for a coffee, its incredible. The line moves very quickly, dont be put off by it.
Great bagel shop with some old school bagels. Lines can be long, very long, in the morning so if youre going for breakfast budget extra time. Theyll often thin out by 11 or 12 so if youre just looking for a bagel fix go later. They also have plenty of vegan schmears and toppings if thats your jam (and theyre pretty good too). Worth checking out
Look, Leo’s is great. But, if you’re from NJ or, dare I say, Long Island, you’ve had better bagels before. For everyone else, you’ll probably put Leo’s in your top 3.If it’s Saturday or Sunday morning (and you’re hungover) set an alarm for 9, order on seamless, fall back asleep and it’ll be there by 1015. Order any later and you’ll be having bagels for lunch.
The female who works at cashier very professional and active but a couple of staff works in the back they are kind unprofessional with the delivery person, the order was ready they keep it for long they dont even care just give you order like nothing happens, I dont whats wrong with back room staff! today the second time they couldnt find my order and I have to wait 40 minutes until they make it all over again they need someone who pays attention!!!
Stopped by Leos to get breakfast before our bike tour and the first thing we noticed was the line was out the door so be prepared for that. I tried one of there breakfast sandwiches on a bagel and while the sandwich was big and I was given alot of food I was disappointed because I asked for no cheese but I was still given cheese. Overall pretty good though.
One of the most delicious bagels Ive had in life. I could taste the freshness in every bite. I got the whole wheat everything bagel toasted with sun dried tomato and scallion cream cheese with a side of fresh grapefruit juice. My partner tried the sesame bagel toasted with garlic cream cheese and a fresh orange juice. They were both great! The lines are sometimes long, but it is totally worth it. It is ONLY take-out and they dont have much space or seating inside. I chose to walk a few streets and eat it on the pier by the river - a great decision, indeed!
Wish I could give them zero stars, I cannot believe that people think this place is good. A sesame bagel with a bit of cream cheese is $6, that is crazy. A bit of cheese spread cost as much as the whole container in the supermarket and their bagels taste like nothing. you can literally get the same thing at every NYC deli. Not to mention the line for this place, this whole drama about Leos bagels is ridiculous. I guess thats bc there is really not any other bagel place around. also, it grosses me out that I see so many rats around that store at night.
A little more expensive than other bagel options but the food quality was pretty good. We really enjoyed strawberry cream cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel. We also did a Classic Club on an everything bagel. The bagel itself was good and so were most of the ingredients but the turkey was super dry. We had to add mustard to make it eatable.
Long lines, definitely order ahead. Loud music + facemask (is a must) + glass to protect employees = very hard to order your food, then when you go to the cashier they ask you AGAIN what did you order. Why can I just order at the cashier and then wait for my food? Whenever I visit Manhattan again would probably stop here again
Even later on a Friday morning, the line was out the door and down the street a bit. Their bagel sandwiches are delicious, and they had a good variety of options for cream cheese and toppings. The employees are polite and welcoming, but definitely have an emphasis on moving quickly, which I love.
Long lines in the morning. Takes atleast 20-30 mins to get a bagel. The employees are friendly and helpful. Bagels are big and filling. Didnt understand their toasting process coz I ordered double toasted but the bagels were not that toasted. They also have coffee and sandwiches.
Small shop like most. Bagels were good but a little too hard for me. I got the olive cream cheese and that was amazing! Will go back just for that in the future. There were a lot of people working and it seemed to run efficiently but I think more than one person should have been doing to walk in lines. There were alot doing pickups and stuff with the line 30 people deep.
Ordered my bagels for pickup because I was staying close by. They were 20 minutes past the estimated time (55 minutes after placing my order). It was very crowded and I wasn’t in a rush so gave it a pass. However, when I finally got my bagel, I only got one of the two I ordered. I called back twice from my phone and once from my friends phone and was put on hold the first time and hung up on the other times. Couldn’t go talk in person because I had to leave the city so I paid for a bagel I never even got. Terrible service. The bagel I did get was good, but don’t recommend the place.
While the bagels are delicious, I went for lunch and ordered lox on a bagel. What I received was a toasted bagel with melting cream cheese. This would not have been an issue if this was hot out of the oven, but sorry having the veggies wilting and cheese on the hands.
Bagel was larger than most delis but the long wait on a line that stretched outside. I would reconsider placing an order in the winter or if youre not using the app to order online but they dont take pick up orders via phone calls so the service is very poor and 1 dimensional. Noting special just a long wait
Visited around 9am on a Saturday. There was a line, but it moved fairly efficiently. Time waiting in line until receiving 3 bagel sandwiches was roughly 30min. Bagels and ingredients tasted fresh with good flavor of bagel toppings, good chew to the bagel, and ingredients also tasted good. Would visit again.
Avoid. Waited in line for 20 minutes. Asked for a simple order (toasted bagel with butter and a toasted muffin). The bagel was hot, no crisp. And the muffin was hot too but no crisp with the wrapper still on it. Can’t see what they’re doing back there but hope they’re not using microwaves.
Super hip bagel spot in lower Manhattan. Coach Hub & I lumbered into here after a great day of Lady Liberty activities. Our dogs were barking after many steps, and these robust babies took the edge right off. Theres a great little pocket park next door to finish off these monsters.
Took 2 hours to get my meal, and the staff screamed at me on the phone. Told me, “Well then don’t order from us.” Interesting motto for business. Food tastes so good, it’s unfortunate that staff is so incompetent. Tip from an ex restaurant worker: If the store is too busy, TURN OFF DELIVERY SERVICES
I’ve tried multiple times and these people NEVER make my egg sandwich the way I ask. It’s not complicated to make an egg sandwich and they always get it wrong. I’m tired of being disappointed. They get one star for their bagels, which if you get nothing on them and don’t ask for it toasted, are okay. But the minute you ask for it toasted or an egg sandwich they’ll mess it up. Don’t bother, there’s a deli a few feet away that never screws up your order and the staff are friendly.
Placed an order the day before for 7:45am and included an 18% tip for a company meeting. Order was delivered 90 minutes later even though they were given two contact numbers. If you are looking for subpar service; an apathetic attitude from the manager, your food delivered late and cold; this is the place for you. This is the second time I’ve ordered from them. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME – ORDER FROM FRESH DIRECT.
I usually love this place and come several times a week. But I ordered pickup today for the first time to avoid the line since it’s cold outside. Order was supposed to be ready at 1:10... I was still waiting at 1:40. They hadn’t even started making it.. but at least 20 people who walked in got their bagels immediately. Incredibly frustrating. I would’ve left if I hadn’t already paid online.
Almost always a line here in the mornings but they are experts at getting you through fast. Big bagels that are usually warm if you come early. Don’t be put off if the servers are brusque, they have a lot of people to get through but are actually quite nice. About $6-8 for a breakfast sandwich. Not the greatest bagels in town but the best in the area.
The bagels are fine, but not revelatory. I’ve been coming here for years; because of their poor logistics getting your food is always a struggle, but today was the final straw. My pickup order was 45 minutes late and was “just a few more minutes” for the duration. The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. When I asked for a refund, my order was magically ready in 2min.There are comparable bagels in the area. No need to waste your time on Leo’s.
Long line, gf has a severe dairy allergy we told them to add tofu vegan cream cheese and confirmed a few times, they still gave us regular cream cheese and she had a bad reaction. Heavy traffic shouldn’t be an excuse for poor service. Disappointed. Also out of everything bagels.
One of the very few places down in the financial district to get a good snack on the weekends, especially during the day. Perfectly placed to pick up a bagel and maybe a coffee to take over to Governors Island for a picnic. Great size, texture, and cream cheese choices and pretty standard pricing. I think you can order online which could save a minute or two.
Great place for a bagel. Any type of bagel and spread is available. It’s a tourist place as well as locals stopping in for breakfast so it can get crowded. But they seem to move the line along quickly. Very generous portion sizes. And price is good for NYC! If your in lower Manhattan looking for a good breakfast this is the place!
Bagels were okay but this is NYC there’s good bagels every few blocks. Employees were extremely rude, I can find a better bagel without the attitude. Learn to treat people with respect if you want their business or just bc it’s the right thing to do. I’ve never given a bad google review I don’t usually complain my only other reviews are 5 stars.....but this encounter really left a bad taste in my mouth there’s no reason to be rude and rolling your eyes just because you had to yell out an order 3 times before it was claimed. Mind you she was yelling out plain bagel with butter when I got everything.
I’m mildly obsessed with Leo’s Bagels. The counter staff is always friendly and on point and the bacon, egg, and cheddar bagel sandwich is what dreams are made of. My only negative and reason for not giving five stars is that the line is absolutely the worst. I think the staff does their best to move everyone as quickly as possible but it’s still so difficult to grab a bagel before work unless you set aside 30+ minutes because the line will snake past the building. I almost wish they had a second location because between the tourists and people trying to just grab a bite before work, there’s no way to be quick about it. Otherwise, they’re wonderful!
Good service despite the line outside, but the food was unedible. Had to throw away my 17$ salmon bagel + coffee. Sandwich was cold, the bagel was tough to eat and not fresh. Worst coffee I ever drank in my life. I heard NYC has great places for bagels, this is definitely NOT one of them.
Orders are consistently incorrect and the staff is rude. Dont even think about ordering for delivery unless you like big fees and waiting 120 minutes. As others have said, the bagels are good but bagels are good at every deli corner in NYC. Dont waste your time or money here.
Asked for an everything bagel with plain cream cheese. He asked if I wanted it toasted and I said no. It took awhile to get my bagel and even the person behind me who got a toasted bagel got her bagel before me. I finally got my bagel and took it to work. Opened the bag to find out they toasted my bagel. It wasnt just toasted it was black and burnt. I tried to eat it anyway as I was hungry but it tasted horrible. I couldnt taste the bagel, only the burnt flavor. It was also nearly impossible to chew. It was like chewy leather. I had to throw it away. Ive had better bagels at Dunkin Donuts. With all the good bagel places in the city, go somewhere else!
A very busy place with nice bagels. I just got me a simple cream cheese bagel for 3.54 dollar. They havent much of a seating area so you might eating elsewhere or on the way to work.Edit: after I went there for a couple of times I got annoyed by the busyness of this place. You usually wait in a line for 20 minutes till you can order. I can recommend another less busy place but it is more towards midtown its called Brooklyn bagel & coffee company.
I understand that they are a busy place but their behaviour with us was just unacceptable. We waited 45 minutes for an order before being told an ingredient was missing. When asked to replace it with whatever was available, because we had waited for so long, the management got rude and hostile; essentially they asked us to leave because we were disturbing other customers. The joint deserves less but atleast they gave us some order before unceremoniously asking us to leave.
I had forgotten how popular Leos Bagels is when they are open. The last time I was there, I was on my way to an appointment, and there was a line literally out the door. Although I had my bagel sandwich in Leos Bagels, one who does so needs to be prepared to say excuse me and thank you a lot. I did not use the bathroom there, so I do not know if one is available for customers to use, but up the block, one can buy something at Hanover Gourmet Deli and use their bathroom. I do look forward to returning to Leos Bagels. I received a delicious bagel sandwich and service with a smile.
I live around the corner from this joint, and the bagels and spreads a very good, but not spectacular. They are priced as if they are transcendant. And there is almost always a long line. I often find myself walking out of my apartment wanting a fresh bagel, but see the line and end up going somewhere else. So, bottomline: good bagels, but not good enough for a local to stand in line.
If you work in the Financial District, I am sure you are familiar with the heavenly bagels baked here at Leos. If you are not, then head over there as soon as you have your next bagel craving- its worth it! Also, Ive been pretty addicted to their double chocolate chip muffins, definitely give those a try if you have a sweet tooth! Fair warning, there tends to be a line, but it moves along pretty quickly!
The bagels are good, but the $7 breakfast sandwich I just got was garbage. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese. Half the bacon was burnt, the other half was not fully cooked. The egg was extremely overcooked. I ended up eating the bagel by itself. Also, I placed the order online and I requested that a slice of tomato be added to the sandwich in the special instructions because it wasnt one of the options listed. Of course that wasnt done. Picking up the order was a hastle. There was a line out the door and no separate line or instructions for people who are picking up orders that have already been paid for. Overall, this sandwich wasnt worth $7 or the time I had to wait to pick it up.
Horrible Management.!!For Seth, the Owner: l live in the building where one of your stores is..(Fi Di). Your managers accused me of stealing rice pudding!! UNBELIEVABLE! Have been a good customer for many years. Theyre liars, chased me out onto the street, physically accosted me, and they all should be fired. Id have called the police, but was off to an appointment. Seth, please IM me on FB Thanks!
This is the best Bagels shop in New York. The uncut bagels are kosher certified. The freshness of the bagels and the rest of the gourmet stuff is unheard of. If you havent tried yet the white fish salad with capers bagel you havent experienced the most gourmet $9.99 food in New York. This is the best white fish salad ever, creamy and fulfilling but not too much, savory but not salty. Avoid coming during rush hours and always come before 5pm. One of my favorite places in the world, especially as a New Yorkan.
I was at work when someone brought bagels from another place. When I went to grab one, someone told me, You havent tasted a real bagel until youve had Leos Bagels. I eventually gave in and went to work early so I can stop by to order one to see for myself. I ordered an everything bagel with salmon and cream cheese and let me tell you something, I had an out of body experience. It was the best bagel I have ever had. I am considering putting Leos Bagels as a weekly fixed expense.
Pretty Good!!! I work in the are and pass this establishment everyday and witness long lines. I wanted to know what the hype was so decided to come back when the crowd died down (10:00am). The line was considerably shorter. I asked some of the patrons on the line if the bagel were really that good and they reassured me that they definitely were. I ordered a cinnamon raisin with cream cheese and avocado, orange juice and a Figi water ($12.00). I was pleased. Generous amount of avocado and cream cheese. This bagel is actually very good.
Line was out the door, but for good reason. The bagels my girlfriend and I got were very good. Even with the line out the door, it moved pretty quickly, I dont think we waited more than 20 minutes on a Friday morning. Great stuff, would come back if I was in the area again.
Delivery is ridiculous.... dont even bother ordering from the website.... there is no care when you call them to ask about the order.. placed an order at 830am... it is now almost 10am.... if you order delivery order through one of the delivery apps... door dash, grub hub, sure they might charge the restaurant a fee but at least you get a refund from them... LEOS BAGELS has no compensation whatsoever... its ridiculous.....
Not worth the wait in line. I get being busy and how an employee can feel rushed but theres never an excuse for not caring when a customer gets the wrong order. To tell me this is what we made and we have a line so we cant give you what you paid for, not cool. Of course this is after waiting 20 minutes just to get inside. So disappointing, I had read up on Leos and found the story so interesting and was truly excited to try for the first time. I will not be returning, honestly the bagel wasnt that great outside of it not being what I wanted. The cream cheese had a really funky flavor as well, its almost like it was picking up the flavors of everything else in the cooler. The coffee was great though, Ill give them that. So wish this was a good review, I really wanted to like this place.
Don’t by the gluten free bagels! They are not made in premises but they do not state that any where on their menu. I bought a dozen and they came in plastic bags from Udi. And to make matters worse, they were frozen! If I wanted Udi bagels, I would have gone to the store.
Very overrated IMHO. Bagels were not at all fluffy and lacking any real taste. Also got here at 7am so it’s not like they weren’t fresh. Kind of reminded me of cafeteria-style bagels - look good from afar but once you bite in it’s like oh nvm. I’ve had far tastier bagels in the NJ burbs.

2022-05-174.5 stars, the bagels are tasty, lighter than those on the west coast, but not the lightest I’ve had in the city. Fillings were pretty plentiful, and I appreciated that for an additional charge, you could get different types of smoked fish. I ordered the everything Nova bagel and it was pretty good, but I felt there wasn’t as much fish as I wanted.Sandwich before tax and tip: $14.75. They were busy, but the line moves pretty fast, about 2 minutes per person.Overall would (and will) go again!

2022-04-05This place is great, I’ll definitely be back! We got the Beca (substituted the cheese for Tofutti cream cheese) and The Maven. It was nice to see dairy free options, and the bagel overall was flavorful and just what I needed. Definitely recommend to stop by if you’re in the area, just beware it can get packed.

2022-02-23The best bagel Ive tasted anywhere. Amazing fillings. Try the roast beef. Literally the best in NYC if not the world. Generous fillings and theres just something special about these.

2021-12-26Great bagels with delicious cream cheese. I ordered the cinnamon raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese. The cream cheese was piled on to the bagel, like all other bagel places in New York, which is great because I do love my cream cheese.

2022-06-28Best bagels ever!!! I could eat them all day, every day. The Hanover Hangover is massive and it could feed two. Super tasty. Busy at breakfast but the line goes quick and it worth to wait.

2022-02-27Went to Leo’s on Sunday around noon, the line was long but overall moved fast. Order for pickup to skip the line! Lots of options and a pretty cheap spot for egg bagel compared to most joints. Very satisfied with their offerings and speed. Delicious! Pictured: whole wheat everything with 2 eggs and cheddar cheese.

2021-12-06A fun and tasty bagel shop with a lot of character. We enjoyed our food. NOTE, the line can be super long sometimes. I recommend ordering ahead of time online and doing an in store pickup (just be sure to order ahead as the wait might be more than an hour). Everything was very fresh. There is no indoor seating. Take away only.

2022-05-04I was in the city for the weekend and found this place. Amazing food and service! Judging from the line out the door, I wasnt the only person hungry for a good bagel! A special kudos to the lady at the register for keeping everything running smoothly! 10/10!

2021-12-09If you get around this area and see people all walking toward one direction, they are probably heading to Leo’s bagel. I got the whole shebang, the bagel was filled with scallion cream cheese and smoked salmon. Very delicious. And don’t worry, the line moves pretty fast

2022-06-23Went on a random weekday morning and the line was around the corner already. thats how you know its GOOD! giant lox bagel is the move. there are tons of options - bagel bread, spread, meat to build your own.
