I went to this on the open house New York weekend. It was an inspirational visit. A guide takes you through the rooms downstairs and gives an overview of Latimers life. There are great informative posters in the walls to supplement the tour. Though you dont get to go upstairs it is still a wonderful experience. Parking was easy on a Sunday in the street. Definitely worth a visit to learn about an American genius.

This place is amazing, very educational. Went to the Lantern event, and made lanters for Chinese New years (Year of the Pig= Prosperity). Just this place out!

He invented the precursor to air conditioning, which you have to appreciate in the summer. The displays are interactive and staff friendly

The Lewis Latimer house was a nice way to spend our afternoon! Not only was the house and man himself interesting, but Roxy, the girl who led us around, was so sweet and informative!

This is a small museum slowly but surely growing as they added programs for children. The museum tour is really nice and its a one on one tour as they patiently explain everything and answer all your questions. The people are obviously really nice and the yard is really pretty too.
