Lex Hotel NYC in New York
The hotel was located in a central location close to restaurants, shops, and a Subway station which we took daily to see the sights around the city.. The room was very clean although small. The front desk staff was very friendly and accomodating. Continental breakfast served every morning and a wine reception every evening from 5 to 7 pm. LaGuardia Airport was 15 minutes away.
We booked this hotel 1 months in advance. When we arrived the man at the front desk told us that the booking agency canceled our stay. We asked why? He tried to find someexcuses. After all we didn‘t had a hotel to stay and it turned out that the hotel was overbooked with 7 rooms!!!! Never again!
Great location next to anything and everything you could possibly need. The room was a perfect size. More than enough room for 2 people. There was a good-sized closet to hang a few items and store some smaller items. However, please note that there were no draws to put clothes in.The bathroom was big and spacious. The shower was nice and hot. Maybe even too hot! I had to turn it down to cold several times. The toilet had an almost turbo flush. Ive never seen anything like it in my life. The room includes a safe, bottled water, normal toiletries, an iron, and ironing board.Coffee and tea are not included in the room, but if you call the front desk they will delivery your coffee, tea and water 24 hours a day.
Great staff and attention to detail! Highly recommended for short stays in the city while being close enough to all the action. Room was a bit chilly. Rooms were nice, clean, modern city hotel rooms with a minimalistic touch. Definitely would stay again. Again, great staff and customer service.
I really liked this for a basic, exactly what I need, hotel. When I travel I just want a clean room I can sleep in comfortably. This hotel was very clean and the staff was great. Totally would have been 5 stars if they had a bit more to offer with breakfast, like yogurts or something. Their breakfast was really just basic pastries and some apples/oranges. They had a neat lounge area on the roof that was very relaxing.
We had the cheap room I assume. ( flight canceled, last second booking)No amenities in our room. No fridge or microwave; however front desk sent up hot water and paper cup so I could mix my coffee. However I did love everything else. Shower great, service was wonderful, very polite and friendly. Would stay again no hesitation with proper time to get one of the larger rooms.
First time NYC and this hotel was the best choice for location and price. The room was small but very comfortable especially the bed. The only bad thing about it is that it does not have a small fridge. So if you go out to eat do not expect to bring any leftovers. However, the best part of this hotel has to be the staff service. I especially want to thank Peter who fix my glasses with some superglue. You sir are the man.
Lex Hotel had great rooms and very reasonably priced. Easy access to subway and public busses. Lots of restaurants nearby. I wanted Indian cuisine and there was so many. The staff were very friendly. We got the smallest room (cozy queen) and it was sufficient for two people. The doors were very heavy, we couldnt hear our neighbors. Breakfast was served at rooftop, had pastries, coffee and orange juice. Rooftop view was nice. The check in time was 3PM and checkout was 12PM. There are two sliding windows for fresh air and natural light. I think the following can be improved. 1. Addition of exhaust fan in bathroom ( we opened windows for fresh air, but it would be hard during winter months) 2. There wasnt power outlets on one side of the bed.
I was reading a few of other peoples reviews and it surprised me this hotel was referred to as a “luxury hotel”. This hotel is no where close to being a luxury hotel, period. The staff is very nice and friendly but the rooms are extremely basic and pretty depressing. Don’t get a shared room, the walls are literally paper thin. Our flight got cancelled and we got s room here, at first we got s shared room and had to change rooms as we could clearly hear the conversation of the people next to us. For the price and for what it is it’s fine but it’s most definitely not anything close to luxury.
Honestly, we were pleasantly surprised by the Lex Hotel NYC after reading other reviews. The price was right (and included pastries & coffee for breakfast), our room was quiet (especially surprising since we were on the first floor) and the staff was very friendly, delivering ice to our room and bringing extra towels when we needed them.We were a few blocks away from the subway and were pretty close to a lot of the things we wanted to see. All in all, we had a great experience staying here.
Tiny rooms and they could never get my heat to work properly. Every night it was loud in the middle of the night, either from trucks or people making noise coming out of bars. The day staff was nice but the evening staff seemed to be annoyed when Id ask for coffee at 5 am (I was on a work trip) after it was promised to be available 24/7. Mediocre breakfast (those same stale muffins you would get at a Motel 6) and few amenities. I would definitely not stay here again.
Will definitely stay here again. Cant really complain about anything. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Rooms are very spacious and clean. Free breakfast, aka pastry and coffee, basically just enough to kick start your day. Really good WiFi. Free wine and cheese on Tuesdays was much appreciated!
Nice high end boutique in East Manhattan. Check in was simple and without fuss. There is a continental breakfast that is pretty sparse. The rooms are very clean. The bathroom is very modern with black tile in the shower giving it a very luxurious feel. There is access to the rooftop where continental breakfast is served. There is also complimentary wine reception every evening from 5-6 pm, also on the roof, weather permitting. Overall I would stay here again.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was quite comfortable and liked very nice. This is a great spot at a very good price for this part of the city.My one gripe is the ridiculously counterintuitive mechanism they have for turning on the shower. Somebody took the idea of minimalism to a bad extreme. Its a small thing (unless youre spending five minutes standing in running water trying to figure it out), but they really should change those out as soon as possible.Otherwise, a great experience.
Beautiful hotel, exactly what youd think of for a modern NYC hotel. Only spent a night there but wish my stay had been longer to experience all the amenities they had to offer (the pamphlet mentioned breakfast and a wine hour in the evenings). In the warmer months they have an open rooftop.
This is a simple but price worthy hotel with friendly staff. The room I got was in the basement with no view, so that was a letdown for me as a first timer in New York. But the street outside is nothing fancy, so that didnt bother me anyway after the first night. The bed is quite hard but comfortable. You have a range of pillows to choose from with different levels of hardness. You get a fairly big Samsung Tv with good picture quality and, depending on the room, a sizeable bathroom. The rooms are tidy and well cleaned regularly. There is a complimentary breakfast at the hotel. Its very limited and only offers coffee, milk, juice and a few pastries. No cereals, no bread. At least its free.I can imagine myself staying here again. But it would not be my first choice. Overall a nice hotel and if you only need a place to sleep between the days, this is a good place for that.
Rooms are small - not even desk/chair space included. Ran out of wine for evening social hour, and again, no space for a lounge and no hotel amenities. Theres no valet parking, and in addition to arrival/departure drop-off being dangerous and inefficient, the parking garage they contract with has maintenance issues. I would not recommend given their price and the numerous other hotels in the area. Wont be returning, unfortunately. Thanks!
I stayed at The Lex to attend college tours with my daughter and had chosen it due to its great location and boutique style atmosphere. The accommodations are clean and comfortable, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. In particular, Derek went over and above to make sure we had everything that we needed and made us feel like it was no inconvenience at all. He is the epitome of great customer service!
I discovered this hotel on NightNight, it was featured among the coolest affordable hotels in NYC. Definitely a gem! Good vibes, great location with the Flatiron and Madison Square Garden a few minutes away. Rooms are simple but have nice design touches--wooden floor, black tiled bathroom. A little complimentary breakfast is also available in the morning. Really awesome value for money! I highly recommend.
The staff is amazing in this hotel, everyone is so friendly and everything in the hotel is GREAT! Location, rooftop, breakfast, coffee deliver to your room, wine hour and the most comfortable beds. I will definitely make this hotel my to GO PLACE when Im in Manhattan.
I booked a room here for the wrong night, and after realizing it literally about 15 minutes later, was told by management that they would not be willing to give me a refund because its their policy.Youd think boutique would imply something about having a human touch, but it couldnt be further from the truth. Incredibly greedy, dishonest people. Enjoy your 1 star :-)
My husband and I stayed at The Lex NYC for five nights in March 2017, and what a terrific visit. The hotel is centrally located with ready access to public transportation for visiting spots in uptown and downtown. Check in was a breeze, and we immediately felt welcome and comfortable. The room was modern and exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort and cleanliness. The modern decor and comfortable bed made me feel like a got a real bargain. Our room was on the 6th floor above Lexington, but the city noise didnt bother us at all. We slept like babies after long days filled with lots of sight-seeing.We often try a choose hotels located away from the larger tourist areas to get a real sense of an individual neighborhood. The Lex fit the bill. Lexington Ave has plenty of small restaurants and 3rd Ave provides a wide variety of small eateries as well. The Hummus Kitchen and Penelopes which are both only 5 minutes away, and the food in little India is fantastic. We discovered a old fashioned pinball arcade right around the corner - what a fine discover indeed.
Stayed for a week in Nov 2016. Great location - moments to two train lines. Friendly and professional staff. Decor was modern, clean and better than those at comparable price points nearby. Little touches like a random wine and cheese night were appreciated too. Would not hesitate to recommend.
What an AMAZING place to stay. I travel all the time for work and this is a steal. The rooms are huge for New York City, the staff is a class all their own and the customer service is incredible. I had a problem with my blinds and after making a call to the front desk they replaced all of them, not just the three that gave me trouble, and wrote me a personalize note with a treat.
Fantastic hotel! Brilliant way of focusing on the experience rather than boastfull sizes of rooms or views. Rooms are tiny but in an amazing fashion, it works efficiently and effectively. The tech is fantastic. Im pretty sure the lights auto iluminate on entry. Lights are independent but can be intelligently controlled from other outlets. Its a fantastic system, that probably saves management tons upon checkout. USB outlets, Ethernet port (cat6), responsive electric heating and cooling, HDTV with HD channels AND side HDMI input. It does all of this while maintaining a beautiful aesthetic. Also the key cards are boldy completely blank. No swiping, just tap to unlock. Love the look of the key cards. Rooftop access is wonderful. Free breakfast was delicious. All around, the ideal hotel for modern needs. Would recommend to a friend and to myself. Will probably return. One thing I would improve is the elevator, its a *little* slow, but gets the job done and didnt feel rickety in the slightest.
I live in the east village but I originally stood at the millennium hotel downtown and we decided to book this hotel last minute because my girlfriend didnt want to go back home to Jersey and I already had checked out downtown so we saw this hotel. Do not let the lobby and photos fool you. our view was the alley way and we had a balcony facing the alley also. the air conditioner kept turning on and off. You guys probably might not believe into supernatural but we kept hearing footsteps in the room and we didnt go to bed till 4am like deadass if you looking for somewhere to stay at the last minute do not I repeat do not stay here. It as definitely not COZY enough. If anyone has anymore questions feel free to comment on my review.
Thought this hotel was a nice hidden gem in Manhattan! It’s a small boutique hotel but it was great! The rooms and bathroom was clean! Unfortunately due to the weather the rooftop was closed so couldn’t check that out! Derrick the front desk guy who works at night was friendly...also having free breakfast is a plus!!! I wouldn’t mind staying here again next time I’m in the big Apple
I attend a meeting once a year in this part of town, and staying at The Lex is absolutely my favorite part. The rooms are clean, quiet, and beautiful. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome - as a returning guest this includes a hand written note and treat in the room.
Stayed at the fantastic Hotel Giraffe for a few days over the New Years period. Booked some months back due to the peak time. Everything from email booking to getting a taxi to JFK at the end our stay was effortless. The staff were professional and helpful. The 2QB room had extremely comfortable beds - enjoyed a completely peaceful sleep....
I had a fantastic experience at the Lex. Starting at check-in everyone I encountered was friendly, helpful and beyond accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast in the lobby was nice, good coffee and some pastries that didnt taste like they came out of a plastic wrapper along with fruit and tea (there may have been more but I got down there after the breakfast hours had ended.) Great location! Plenty of restaurants nearby (try Bao Bao Cafe next door!) and easy access to the subway. I honestly cant think of any complaints! Ill definitely be back!
This was generally a very good experience. The room was clean and comfortable, especially the bed which was terrific; the staff were friendly and helpful; the location was good - very near a subway and a supermarket/pharmacy and many attractions; the price was expensive but not untypical of Manhattan. What was exceptional was the breakfast and evening when they had...
Had a booking here for work travel which had to be cancelled. Previous email communications with the hotel have worked fine, however when trying to cancel these two 12 night stays there has been no response. Have emailed 24th June, 1st July and the 6th July but received no response. Will be trying again today.
Literally just left after 4 nights in February and more than happy to share how much we liked the Lex. First and foremost - the staff is terrific - first class service without the price. Greeted by each person as we came in and left, even if they were assisting another guest. As we came back, theyd offer coffee or tea an any hour. In fact they offer coffee and tea just about any time you can imagine. Rooms were efficient, clean and very comfortable. Location in Kips Bay Area is great jumping off point for visiting the city, especially with stops for the R and 6 lines not far away. Be sure to check out Madison park across from the Flatiron Building - lots to see there including Eatily. We grabbed great thin crust pizza at at Vezzo which was maybe 4-5 blocks north on Lexington. Jazz Standard was also great, 2 block away, for some jazz and BBQ if you are hungry. I also liked Gregory Coffee on Park and 24th if you are looking for a nearby alternative to Starbucks. For the price this hotel is really hard to beat - cannot wait to return and try any of the numerous Indian places in the immediate area.
The location was pretty weird, it doesnt look like a hotel at all but when you get inside youll see the resemblance. Overall the rooms were good and clean. The only problem I had was the fire alarm going off halfway through a shower and everyone else had to stop and head outside instead of getting ready.
Now aside from the fact that there is no bar fridge in the rooms ( cool drinks and such). It has a good location , close to most attractions and transport. I was not satisfied with my room upon arrival ( in town for a week) so I asked at the desk and the lovely Angelika arranged a better room and has gone above and beyond with any questions , requests I have made and is quick, friendly and ready to assist is any way she can and all with a smile . Angelika is an asset to this hotel and just has it all humming in the blink of an eye. It is not four star but then again they dont have Angelika !
We had a wonderful family Christmas in New York with the family, that we really made by the fantastic welcome and ongoing customer service that we received from the team at the hotel. A special call out must go to Chris, who managed to secure a fantastic table at Wolfgang Steakhouse on one night and then the next night found...
Never returned my deposit..Claimed there was smoking in the room due to a cigarette butt that had fallen out of my empty pack from smoking in front of their facility..There was no trash can, and I didnt throw it on the ground.. Seriously upsetting they kept my $160 on false claim😡
I spent a week with my wife at this hotel and I can’t but praise it. The hotel was reasonably priced, spacious enough, clean (especially when there was no information about the beds) and well located, plus the customer service was excellent. The complimentary breakfast included pastries, coffee, juice and cereals, giving you just the right amount of power for your morning walks in Manhattan. I also recommend getting up on the roof of the hotel in the evening to admire the city lights. If youre planning a trip to New York, you want to stay in a hotel in Manhattan and your budget isnt particularly big, you dont even have to consider hotels other than this. I would stay here anytime again.
Great hotel, clean, modern, great location in Manhattan. The price is very affordable for a beautiful, well-equipped room and a BIG THANKS to Patrick from the reception who is often there to answer your questions and make you smile. The only small negative point I would say the breakfast, it will miss a little more American diversity.
Recent structure in a great location, in a quiet area, close to the subway, super markets and numerous Indian restaurants. The rooms are not huge but clean with queen beds. There was no fridge but every day 2 free bottles of water are left.Unfortunately, it also has some rooms in the basement on the same level as the technical rooms with little light coming from the shaft ... not at all nice ... before booking, I recommend requesting a room on the upper floors. We had reserved one of these rooms but asked to be moved. The staff gladly answered our request.Breakfast is continental and is served in the small hall.Excellent reception!
Much older near Times Square at the same price point? I stayed at the dorm, but the quality of the accommodation changes as I get away a little. (Of course, transportation is best in Times Square..)This is a boutique hotel located in a quiet and clean neighborhood. There are many delicious restaurants nearby and Madison Square Park, so its great to take a walk around the neighborhood. The walk was wide, so it was very comfortable without getting hit by people. There was also a train, so there was no big problem with moving. It offers a light breakfast and wine, and it is also great for viewing the night view from the rooftop. The friendly and quick staff are also the best. (Of course there was no bedbug)
From the 13th to the 21st of August we have stayed very well .. Clean rooms ... Very pleasant breakfast ... Young and very helpful staff ... At the Chek out .. It is also possible to leave the luggage in the hotel for a last trip to the city before leaving ... I highly recommend it ..
Centrally located hotel, the nearest metro stations are just around the corner. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace in good weather and is a good base for the day. Coffee and tea is brought to the room during the day, here you have to give only at the reception desk.
The central location of the hotel is a huge advantage; proximity to subway stations as well. We have come to appreciate the always extremely friendly and very helpful staff, who offered their help immediately in all questions. The 24/7 drinks service was not exhausted, but at normal times he worked flawlessly. The breakfast was sparse in America (coffee / tea / orange juice, croissants and fruit), but still - especially in the rooftop - delicious. Our room was always clean and nicely decorated. There is nothing to complain about! The next trip we will return there.

2022-01-24Patrick at the front desk was the best! Staff is so incredibly friendly. Room was super clean, which is great and very comforting during these times with covid. Breakfast was okay, wish there were a little more options. But overall we had an amazing stay! Definitely coming back in the future

2022-04-19This hotel, though dated and a bit shabby-chic is in an ideal location. The staff were super helpful and nice. The advertised wine reception was non existent as was the rooftop deck (closed), breakfast was the usual coffee, juice and croissants. I liked having coffee every morning.I had a room on the first floor it was huge and it was the quietest room I have ever slept in, couldnt hear any of the typical NYC sounds, slept like a baby. Hotel staff deliver ice and whatever else you might need. 5 plus stars for them!! Would re book......

2022-02-27The staff at the hotel is amazing and so very accommodating. We arrived very early for our stay and they had a room ready no problem. The prices are good, rooms were clean and it was centrally located to where we needed to be. We will definitely be back!

2022-05-09Would like to start off by saying that the front desk staff was super accommodating and friendly! The best part of my experience. The first weird vibe I had was when you enter this hotel onto maps and it takes you to an entirely different address 10 blocks away. This is a small thing but as someone who’s worked for a small business owner I know this is a very easy fix and it seems strange to me that they wouldn’t change that.I believe the photos posted by the hotel online are extremely misleading. The entire building felt run down and definitely lacking in cleanliness. The first room I was put in smelled so badly of B.O that I had to ask for a new room. Again, he was very accommodating and immediately gave me a new room - not his fault at all. The new room did not have the smell.I had the queen sized bedroom. It feels weirdly small in there…if I opened my full size suitcase to put on the rack, you would have to go up against the wall to get around it. I know it’s NYC but the price I paid for the room + the photos online definitely made it seem much roomier. The bathroom was clean and roomie on a more positive note. I usually take photos of my hotel rooms but it was so disappointing that I didn’t think to do so.There’s a sign in the room that says join us on the rooftop for a reception from 5-6. But when you ask about it downstairs they say the rooftop is closed right now. I feel like simply removing those signs from the rooms would solve a lot of problems. Not to mention, photos of this rooftop are heavily featured online as well.Breakfast is extremely basic. Kinda what I was expecting though again, I felt the photos online were misleading.Ultimately the prices here were very similar to the chains near grand central or Times Square, but I chose this place because I wanted a more boutique experience and better location. I would NOT recommend this place if that is what you’re looking for. The chains are a better bet. If they lowered their prices or redid the place to look more like the photos, it would definitely be worth it.

2022-01-08The only positive note was the very friendly staff. The hotel room was old, small, with a horrible carpet and no place to put the luggages and bags. Also the quality of all facilities was way below average. Some people like the area, but personally I found Midtown Manhattan one of the least, dirtiest and less interesting parts of NYC. Moreover, I was very annoyed to pay $22.95 mandatory Service fees per night, given the overall poor maintenance and how old and dirty the room is. Unless you need to stay right behind Baruch College, Id never recommend this hotel. Too expensive for a 2-star quality hotel.

2022-06-11Positive: The staff was top notch! Very friendly and helpful with everything!! The location was safe and in walking distance to many things. Negative: The room was disappointing. You almost trip into the bed when you open the door. Needs updating. No soap. Limited towels and washcloths. AC was not working the first day we were there.

2022-03-08Decent hotel, not fancy, well located in the center of Manhattan.I appreciated to have the breakfast included. For sensitive sleepers, bring your earplugs and/or ask for a quiet room in advance. My room was on a low floor on Lexington Ave. This is by the traffic light so you do have these trucks accelerating from a stopped position at all hours in this City That Never Sleeps.

2022-05-24Positive: The location was great! Nice and safe area of town. Negative: The continental breakfast was not what Im used to. Not enough food choices, no place to sit except in the lobby . I would rather have had a coffee maker in my room.

2022-05-07The staff at the hotel was exceptional and extremely accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied and I want to thank them for all their hard work.
