Annoyed that ive been living on the UES for 6 years and am just now finding out about this spot. if youre looking to step into a time machine and get a feel of old new york, come here. ridiculously good french toast, made-to-order fresh squeezed lemonade, and some of the friendliest people. genuinely so good. will definitely be back!
Good neighborhood spot for a casual lunch. My normal order is a caesar salad and a chocolate milkshake, which is always satisfying! Service isn’t always the fastest, but the people are friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant, so it doesn’t bother me as long as I’m not in a rush. There’s also nice outdoor seating, which is great on a nice day!
Cute atmosphere but overrated. The foods and drinks are overpriced. A cup of a bad cappuccino cost $8. Grilled sandwiches cost $21 without any side like fries. The pancakes are good though. But overall, ripped-off. And the cashier asked for 25% tip. That was the last straw. We’re NOT going back there again for sure.
What an unfortunate fall from grace. What used to be a neighborhood classic has become a former shell of a classic old-school diner. To start, the table we were seated at was sticky and still dirty from the previous customers. Not to mention the floor had food all over including where the cooks were working. Noticed cooks had no gloves when making food and putting together the food. Basic hygiene was lacking and was nasty all around. We each ordered a burger, plate of fries, and a drink. One plain burger and one butter cheese burger which was supposedly a fan favorite that turned out to be simply a cube of butter sitting atop a cheeseburger. No points for creativity, but its clearly as advertised so shouldnt have been surprised. Each plate of fries was $6 and for that size, the price in no way matched up to what was served. Potatoes were clearly old and even when asked for well done, we got floppy fries. The diet coke was also flat which means the fountain was clearly using old soda.In total, the bill was $50 before tip which is absolutely absurd considering what we received. I understand prices for food have gone up recently, but the burger was average and for that price, we could have gone to a proper restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal at a clean table.Would have given this a 2 or maybe a 3, but considering the price, what we received, and the overall cleanliness and vibe of the place, a 1 is generous. Will not be coming back here and will actively recommend any other place because there is no reason to return. Can only imagine what the health department would say if they walked in today. Sad to see, but with so many choices in the city, look for other spots as you will certainly have a better time elsewhere.
One of the best diners you will ever go to. Classic, may it stay forever just as it is. Have a black and white and a blt! Everything is great. Dont know if they still have the floding door sit down phone box in the corner of the main room... forgot to look last I was there (last week). Perfect egg creams, club sandwiches, pies... room and signage is probably original 40s or 50s? Love it!
Escape the glitz of the fashionable and the gentrified into this time-perfected comfort diner. Nostalgia, ice-cream, pies, coffee, milkshake, celebrities in baseball hats, Seinfeld, these thoughts came rushing to my mind upon entering Lexington Candy Shop. The indoor banquette seating is cosy but safe. Whats a diner without a booth? The owners were friendly in that old New York way. I went straight for the classics: an apple crumb pie and the cinnamon raisin french toast. The french toast alone was worth the visit. Knowing this was probably not a treat to have everyday justified the price. It was the Upper East Side after all. But I rather support local, small landmark establishments like this than an overprice latte frappawhatever. The french toast was sinful and satisfying especially with the butter and (real) maple syrup smothered on. The apple crumble is soft and it crumbles easily, so if you like your crust hard, youve been warned. I enjoyed it very much. Finished my afternoon treat with a refillable regular coffee, life is good again.
This was my first time visiting this place, because I was craving for diner food! I obviously ordered their famous pancake, but I don’t find it interesting because I can get it somewhere else for way cheaper. It is really pricey:// the service was okay. Keep in mind that it is a very old and local place, maybe that is why they don’t care about customers because they know people (tourists) WILL visit. Not really welcoming when you enter the place… :(
Eating here I couldnt help but think that this is what food used to taste like. Oh sure the decor recalls an old time candy shop but thats not what the throwback comment is about. The actual food tastes like what I imagine food used to taste like, just fresh, well made and not trying to be complex, what food was before they started adding fillers and hormones. They clearly source their ingredients from quality sources (beef used in burgers is angus, they used Bassets ice cream an amazing Philadelphia ice cream company in their milk shakes, etc) but they let the ingredients speak for themselves and dont complicate them. We ordered a tuna melt to try and wouldnt you know the celery in the tuna salad tasted as fresh as could be, it hadnt been sitting in some fridge for a week. As a diner aficionado, is such a thing can exist, I lament a bit what has happened to diner food. Most diners these days just order from one or another outside source and just do the finishing touches at the diner. Clearly most diner hamburger patties are ordered frozen and grilled onsite not here. About the freshest and homemade thing at a diner these days is the eggs, which you still have to crack and cook at the source, thats what distinguishes the food here. It tastes like what I imagine a diner in the 1930s-50s used to taste like, or like I had a chance to visit Mcdonalds when it was a stand alone burger shop. The milk shake was $10 dollars but what a great milk shake and came with what used to be standard at all diners, a side car (the metal glass) with any leftover shake. (which was enough to refill my glass almost twice!) The shake itself tasted like chocolate throughout. Most diners use inexpensive ice cream so you sip and the first taste is just generic sweetness then a hit of chocolate, but here it was rich dark chocolate on every sip. The cherry coke was made on site, they didnt just serve you a canned cherry coke but rather used what I imagine where marachino cherry juice added to regular coke, it makes a difference! About the only complaint I had was with the french fries, which were good, but air fryed and so were never going to be as good as deep fried fries. Oh and they dont come standard with a jumbo burger, they have to be ordered on the side. (and are a little small portion wise) Overall the prices are a bit steeper than you might pay but considering how high diner prices in Manhattan have gone, its actually fairly comparable. Sure you get slightly smaller portions but what you do get is fresh and tasty, and well worth the price. Add to that the old time decor, and you have an absolute winner.
Stepped into this soda shop and was immediately transported back to the early 20th century! The space is small, but the food is big on flavor and the staff all have big personalities to match. The hubby and I popped in for a quick brunch; he had a Turkey Club and a Rootbeer and I had a Vanilla eggcream and Pancakes w/ cheese eggs and sausage. Oh my gosh! When I tell you EVERYTHING WAS WONDERFUL, I mean everything...From the best sausage I have ever had in my life, all the way down to the butter I used on my pancakes. If youre looking for some great diner fare, this place will not disappoint! It aint cheap though,“ (we spent $60 on the above items) so come ready to spend a little more than might at other candy shops....it will be worth it.
Horrible experience, one of the worst experiences with customer service that weve had at a restaurant. We asked for our food to go because we had a bus to catch soon, so we started our food inside. An elderly gentleman who seemed to be in charge kept looking at us and rolling his eyes and sighing, then charged us for an extra burger and got an attitude when I pointed it out. He went on to say me and my family were horrible and caused nothing but problems since we got there by ordering to go and starting to eat inside. Our drinks didnt get there until after we finished eating. We even threw out our own garbage. Awful experience overall.
If you fancy a jump into the past, this place is perfect. Its a tiny old style luncheonette, a bit out of the way, great for breakfasts and lunches. The menu offers a classic after the other, including ice cream sundaes, burgers, soups, omelettes and of course eggs and bacon and french toasts. The staff is incredibly polite, the coffee is good, and in the windows you can find an astounding collection of Coca Cola bottles from all over the world.
Nice classic and nostalgic NYC diner. Prices are a bit higher, even for this area. The Ice Cream Soda and Floats are very small. I had a salad, which was very large and good for the $10+ price, but far more than one person could eat. I really came here just for the soda jerk service... It was okay, but not worth the $8-10/drink cost. The selection was also incredibly limited. Waitress was lovely and all around things were good, but I was expecting a bit more.
Incredibly cool and historic place. I loved that aspect of it. The inside was also very cool to experience first-hand. It definitely feels like a step back in time. The service was friendly and efficient. The food, however, I found to be very average and extremely overpriced compared to the typical luncheonette/diner in NYC.
This place transports you back in time. I felt like I was in a movie. Food quality is okay, but is overpriced and small serving. Their milkshake is okay as well, but not delicious enough for the price. The servers are quite friendly and accomodating. If they had more affordable pricing, I would come back.
My brother and I wanted that old-fashioned “soda-shop and sandwiches” experience and thought the Lexington Candy Shop would deliver based upon their “over 93 years” in business. They had a nice atmosphere, nice menu, but fell flat on the food and certainly the prices. $9.75 for a very watery, thin, not-so chocolate malt that I had to ask for twice after placing my order and it not being delivered with our meals. Bread, though grilled, was stale; my brother’s grilled chicken sandwich lacked flavor and was thrown-together. Really disappointed in choosing this place for our lunch (and our cash).
The place is great: an old time dinner, right in the middle of Manhattans upper east side, four blocks away from the Metropolitan museum. The food was delicious. Weve tried the burgers, with french fries, and couldnt be more happy about it. Tasty and juicy, great burgers. The negative part of this place is that all the fumes and smell from the cooking stay inside. I still smelled the food on my skin and clothes a couple hours after Ive left.Anyway, except from that, a great place.
As first classic American diner exoeriences go, a pretty damn good first classic American diner experience. Has the decor (down to the photos of famous people whove been, nostalgic newpaper clippings, 1950s decor, and those weird round metal stools fixed to the floor with padded leather seats), the insanely positive friendly service, and even the welcoming regulars. Not to mention a sandwich / fries / milkshake combo thats kept me full eight hours later. Good stuff!
Old school new york! Great egg creams and shakes.... classic cheeseburger with butter melted on top. Nothing better than a NY diner type place that has been around for nearly 100 years. Im pretty sure they havent changed the menu either, which is a good thing. Also a huge fan that they cook their food in butter rather than gross seed oils.
Kicked me out mid breakfast due to my appearance. In all of the changes post pandemic this place still has great food but the service has gone down hill. For 5 years, I went here 4-5 times per month for breakfast. Tried to address the staff issues today now that I have returned to the city, with the manager who was there every time I went in all those years and he told me to leave. He said “Look lady I’ve been here 31 years and this is the first time I’ve ever laid eyes on you.” He then blatantly looked me up and down and stared at my chest. I was excited to return to here but this was a joke. He told me breakfast is on me and you can leave…I had not even finished my breakfast The cook even gave me dirty looks outside. Disgusted. What a prejudiced place!
Classic neighborhood luncheonette. Founded in 1925, it shows. Delicious hamburgers. Fountain drinks (malted shakes, cream soda..)Perfect hamburgers and soups. Daily specials. No latte, or espresso...coffee from the big vat.Fascinating Coke bottle collection in the windows. A true treat for nostalgia
Im going to say,This place is not that great. The food is mediocre at best and the wait staff is lovely. But it is only worthy of one visit and youve pretty much experienced it all.Although, i hope they never close because they are a gd institution. (Secretly want to love this place but i cant.)Edit: just went back and Im pretty sure i got robbed. The Fing sandwich i got was $20!? It was sad and tasteless and they dont even give you fries with that ... i just dont get this spot. How can it suck so hard!?Edit two: F’ing still hate this place so much!!
Bring some cash for tips, theyre really quick and good with their orders. (but I did go when it wasnt too crowded or busy)The milkshake was fantastic, the sandwich was fantastic, it was a little pricey, but hey youre in New York, most things are pricy. This meal was definitely worth the cost, it was both filling and tasty.
I’ve been coming to this Diner since I was a child. When you walk in you feel like you’re home. The bar stools and the ambience take you back to the 1950’s. This is a real Classic Diner Joint that serves incredible food, ice cream, and more. In addition, the ambience is in another level. The decor of this diner trumps every other diner I’ve been to. If your in the area and looking for a breakfast spot, this is the place to go. Top Notch
Just excellent! I sat inside at the counter and ordered a bacon egg and cheese with some cinnamon toast. The food was downright simple, no frills, just what I expect from a diner. I came for the history so I was super excited. Don’t skip on the fresh squeezed orange juice! Great stop before heading to Central Park.
Came here on a hot day after walking around in Central Park and paying a visit to the MET. An ice cream sundae was clearly in order. It came to us in a traditional sundae serving glass with ample whipped cream, chocolate syrup, vanilla ice cream and a maraschino cherry. No nuts, which surprised me, but I guess some diners just dont put peanuts in their sundaes. The chocolate syrup was high qual, not overpowering cheap syrupy stuff that youll sometimes encounter. The ice cream itself was toothsome with good flavors, textures, and structural integrity. The bathroom sign is somewhat confusing as the word NO is pasted above the bathroom sign and opening its door will reveal a defunct kitchen area. However, if you walk past it, you will find a bathroom that you can, in fact use, as the waitress kindly explained to me. As with all diners, how one is supposed to pay was not super clear so we just asked a server to bring us back exact change and left the tip on the table. I recommend this place for anyone looking for an authentic old school diner experience. Its a worthwhile thing to add to any itinerary of an upper east side excursion.
Everything was horrible. The service, the prices, the wait time. I was in the back of the restaurant and had to call for the waiter every time I wanted something. The water was like warm for crying out loud. The AC was off or broken (neither of which would surprise me), and they didn’t have any salad dressings. The waiters were highly uninformed not being able to list any of the salad dressings, and to top it all off. When my water was poured, it was spilled all over my menu, and when someone cleaned it up, they threw the napkin onto our table and left it there. AND they got the check wrong, the table and the price.
This place is unreal. The milkshakes are always 10/10, burgers are among the best Ive ever had. Have stopped by for a milkshake and brownie, very soft and warm and filling! The prices reflect do not reflect value, the expense is actually cheap compared to the experience and ambiance. There are very few places in New York that offer the quality and years worth of tradition in one place ESPECIALLY in terms of food. Family friendly, prepare for a good time.
Walking into this very cute old style candy shop diner place was nice, their decor and tiny seating areas looked cozy and inviting. The waitress was nice, but noticeably new. What a rip-off..$13 for 3 eggs with some American cheese melted on top, with coffee and two sausage links the total came to $23. To be fair, the food was good, but its hard to screw something that simple up.But when it came time to pay, the owner hands me back my cc receipt to sign, with no tip line. As I had no cash, he lectures me on proper restaurant etiquette, which in his mind is to always leave a cash tip. I almost always do, but in cases like this its convenient to just add to the check. He then directs me to go across the street to the bank, mentioning that hes not in the business of losing money. With prices like that, buddy, your additional 2.5% on a $5 tip does not outweigh repeat business, and an honest review of your poor customer service attitude.TL;DR High prices, bad customer service. STAY AWAY!!
We had my daughter ninth birthday party there. It is better then a themed party as the kids get older. Everyone is helpful and nice. The food is good but made with butter. You have to be specific when ordering. The food over all was good. We have had lunch there before and after. It is one place I would definitely go back to. We enjoyed eating at the counter to.
This restaurant has a great 1940s vibe. Service was great! Food was great! A bit pricey but is average for a Manhattan diner. The menu has regular diner food like breakfast, burgers and clubs. I had a BLT that tasted really good and a vanilla milkshake. It costed $9 and change but it was enough to fill three glasses. Overall great experience!
Born & raised in NYC there is nothing like a classic NY dinner. You can tell the staff have been around for a while and enjoy there job. In addition the decor of this place is great, and gives it a homey feel. This was just what I needed, as NYC has become filled with hipster restaurants that do not embody NYC culture. A good breakfast at a solid price!
This is an old school diner, and soooo delicious. Everything is fresh, and you can definitely taste the difference. The lemonade is to die for, it is so good. It is rather pricey, $7.50 for a large, but worth it. So refreshing! I also got a breakfast sandwich, which is so good on a roll. The couple next to me loved the rice pudding, and they savored every bite. Definitely a smaller place to eat, so might get crowded fast on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Definitely worth the wait though, highly recommend!
Ill preface this review with the following - I adore and appreciate all things Old New York. With that said, this place was a bit of a let down, specifically from a food perspective.Pros: Customer service was great and our waitress fantastic! Walking into the restaurant is like stepping back in time.Cons: Expensive (lunch for two people cost almost $50 (sans tip)!). I know price is subjective, but some how our meal didnt feel like a great return on value (beyond the obvious, which is that we were eating in an almost 100 year-old institution).Food was ok, not great, just ok.Notes: The place is small, so if you plan to attend during peak times (I arrived just ahead of the lunch rush), plan to wait, it gets packed. If you plan to use the restroom, please note, it is also small.Overall, I enjoyed the ambiance and experience, but would not return.
Terrible service and food. After taking our order, the server threw the straws on the table, later she mixed up our malted drink and milkshake. The burgers come with no sides but the quality doesn’t not justify the price. Limp buns that flatten paper thin upon touching them. The patty was served bleeding raw and when we informed the server it was undercooked, they cooked it again and served it back to us with the blood soaked bun. The fries were not even ready when we finished our burgers and drinks. Don’t waste your time here.
Its a diner, but unlike most diners in NYC. Classic diner food with a friendly lifelong staff who, not once, has screwed up my poached eggs (how are they so consistent?). Their bacon is just how I like it too - not too crispy, just a hint of chewiness. While I could hang out here all day on a Saturday and be happy, stepping foot inside, even for a second, will impregnate your clothes with the smell of diner food.
I appreciate how authentic theyve kept the place physically, but theyve overdone it with the World Famous and celebrity status far too much. The menu is basically an advertisement for all the shows and movies theyve been in. And, as a result, the prices are totally gouged. $7 for a cappuccino? $10 for a cup of fresh grapefruit juice? $10.50 for a build your own bacon sandwich? Its a little absurd. The $6 cup of white bean and escarole soup was, however, delicious, and the staff super friendly.
Charming place to have lunch--a real blast from the past. My wife and both had the butter cheeseburger and it is so good. Worth the bump in cholesterol. Prices have definitely kept up with inflation, but still worth going. The milkshake machines look original, so Ill have to return when Im ready for one. Signs will definitely make you think that they dont allow anyone to use the restrooms, but just ask and theyll let you.
Came for the milkshakes they were very yummy could have been a bit thicker though. The gentleman cook was very friendly and the staff seemed like they had all worked there a while. It gave a nice traditional and local feel with some older people there who were obviously regulars.
If youre an oldie and you love the settings of an oldie restaurant this is a place for you to go they have ice cream soda floats. The only problem is the size. this restaurant was probably about decades ago and so is a little bit small because people were smaller back then.
Im not sure what everyone is hyping this place up about. Its small and the service I had was terrible. After ordering I was told that there is a minimum of ten dollars per person to sit at the tables and that I could move to the countertop if I wanted. I told her if thats the case you can cancel my order and Ill leave, was then told not to worry about it. I ordered the chicken salad club which was decent but not worth 12$ without fries or a salad or something. My girlfriend ordered just a plate of fries, for 5$ you get a tiny round plate of heated up French fries straight from a bag you can buy at the grocery store. Taste and quality were similar to the frozen fries bag similar to ore el Ida or whatever they were.I have two stars because the set up of the place was nice, other than that I dont care how good their shakes are for 8$, Ill pass.Never stepping foot back in this establishment again and wont recommend it to anyone who wants decent diner food. Also, dont know why its one dollar sign for price, this place is definitely pricey and not worth it.
I enjoyed it very much, and the atmosphere was classic New York City back in the day... Only one in there for a egg cream. Ended up having lunch! One fat cheeseburger and my egg cream. A neighborhood type diner. If youre into that sort of thing I recommend going and just enjoy yourself and have a meal.. MARK..
The milkshakes here are very high quality. I recommend trying the butter burger, a burger with a knob of butter melted on it. You can almost taste the calories, but it is delicious. The fries are a bit of a let down though, they just seem like store-bought crinkle cut fries.
Nothing quite as difficult as walking in to an all time favorite American dinner and having to decide what to order! The burgers are amazing, not that filling - which is brilliant cause you can enjoy their milkshakes and lovely cheesecakes! For those with a sweet tooth, their donuts are yummy too!
Heres another place in Manhattan with VIPs pics on the walls and it totally let you down. The milkshakes are good but the food is really average nothing special. The burger is small and cooked too well. The club sandwich is mediocre with no side. You can totally get the same product to an anonymous diner in the worst suburbs. Too pricey for what you get.
We love the food and drinks at this luncheonette / soda fountain. Everything is top quality and delicious and they have been doing things the same way for decades! I can never decide between the pancakes or the French toast, but I can never pass up the vanilla milkshake! .
The food is mediocre and the portions are tiny. Our server did not refill our waters once and we tried getting their attention bc we needed ketchup and were ignored 3 times. Unless you want to pay 15$ for a tiny cheeseburger and frozen fries. Save yourself . Don’t go here.
One of my most favorite places in NYC. Each time I am visiting the city I drop in to order delicious pecan pancakes with butter (they serve breakfast all day long) and coke with chocolate syrup. They also have delicious burgers. The interiors are amazing - same since many, many years, full of retro furniture. Strongly recommend. Especially to the fans of Woody Allens movies. ;)
Average greasy spoon, as you enter the establishment you get a whiff of fried oil scent. Pictures on the wall suggest that many a movie have been filmed on location. Food is average at best with prices that do not match the quality and effort churned out by this old place...Thank you Upper East Side.
While the food is phenomenal the prices and space are a bit much. when you walk in there is an ATM and lottery tickets. the dim lighting and lack of hygiene are not great. If you want to have a little breakfast or a snack this can be good, but a with company this may not be the best choice.
This is one of the few remaining classical diners that can be found in nyc. For almost a century the Lexington candy shop has provided the people from the upper east side a place to sit down have some coffee and eggs and take a break from the day. It is hard to miss both of its windows are lined up with a massive collection of coca cola bottles and i would wholeheartedly recommend the lemonade whenever it gets too hot outside
6 reviewsShare reviewComplimentSend messageFollow Warren A.1.0 star rating 2/17/2016I would give it a zero, but that would be misleading. We have eaten here before and thought the atmosphere would enough to compensate for the food but we were wrong. The roast beef must have been from the V-[J Day celebration. They served french fries directly out of plastic bags, but that is no excuse not to cook them and the plate of onion rings reminded me of the old joke, Not only were they awful, but the portion was small. They stuck together in soggy lumps and were difficult to peel apart and did even cover the small plate. I think they were $5.95. A SIL had a burger, which looked and tasted like one of those discs who used to operate those old machines in Coney Island. It was the most complacent and dismissive meal I have had in NYC in a long time and I grew up here. You know the old saying, you cant eat atmosphere, well that would have been better, especially if you like peeling paint.
Came here at the recommendation of a guide book. Its a classic soda/burger joint. Very old style, nothing fancy .... but thats not why you come here. We enjoyed the experience. We were trying to compare it with Margies Candies in Chicago.... similar classic places but not really the same.
0 STARS! I received the worst and discriminating service visiting this place. I had to seat myself, and after 5 minutes of sitting down I had to ask someone to give me a menu. Another 5-7 minutes pass and I had to ask someone to take my order. They were refusing to serve me and I thought it was disgusting. You can take a wild guess what my skin color is, and I was the only one in there. I watched how the servers treated everyone else and it was of course a better service then I received. Were in 2017 racism should be dead!
Great experience here! And what brought me here is the fact that this is the lunch place Robert Redfords character in Three Days of the Condor goes to order lunch before the fateful killings in a great classic film of the 70s. It was a sad comment on todays society that no other reviewer mentioned it...guess people are too busy watching the Kardshians. Anyway, great diner!
The service and pricing at Lex Candy Shop imply that you should feel honored they let you dine there. No coffee refills is poor practice for a diner... and the part where the server Debbie obnoxiously asks how much you want to tip her if youre paying with CC before she runs the card is unprofessional- she blames it on their credit card processor yet Ive never seen this at any other restaurant. Great building and history but this place wouldnt survive if they didnt have that.
The only thing the Lexington Candy Shop has going for it is the nostalgic feeling it brings back. Outside of that the prices are typical, high-priced Manhattan prices. The meal portions also bring back nostalgic feelings, as they are straight out of the Great Depression. Service - well I sat at a dirty table and the schmuck of a water who was rude at every step of the way didnt clean it. He instead placed my coffee cup on top to try to hide it from me...To make a long story short - you can do much better on the UES.
Great local staple. Old school soda jerk and eberything you would expect from a diner. Prices can get you though. A large soda runs almost $5 and there are no free refills of it. The food was delicious and just what I needed. Friendly staff. The place does get crowded and a little cramped. Thats a good thing thougj becuase it means its popular.
I wanted to visit this place with my family but they said they do not have space for the stroller and offered us to leave it outside. I tried to explain that we are coming to have a breakfast but the guy even did not let us get inside and replied in a rude manner that he believed - this is the reason why we are here. I guess thus is not last coca-cola in NYC.
The milkshakes are thick and perfect, served in the oversized canister that they are made in, the way I remember milkshakes being served when I was a child. The Lexington Candy Shop is the last old fashioned soda fountain of its kind, and is a place I love to frequent when Im visiting New Yorks Upper East Side.

2021-12-29Authentic candy shop with lots of great traditional options! A bit pricey, but it’s understandable for the area and ability to preserve such a classic experience. The Chocolate Coca Cola was really good! I also ordered oatmeal which was a bit bland. Overall, shop is decorated very nicely and employees were so sweet!!

2022-07-12NOT Nostalgia - NOT Retro - THIS is Real-Old-School - - - It took me home.I had their Original French Toast with Sausages and Coffee. Then I finished with a hand-made, at-the-fountain Cherry Lime Rickey. Everything was excellent and I left completely satiated. On the way out I hit the Candy Counter and got Ol Fashioned rolls of Lifesavers and a pack of Chuckles.I will be back ! ! !

2022-04-12I didnt eat or drink anything here I basically just checked it out because it was a movie location used in the film three days of the Condor with Robert Redford. Still looks the same from the outside. It was fun to see it.

2021-10-25Old school very small diner that makes good looking food, super fast. I heard the milkshake was the thing to order here but i wasnt in the mood this time. French toast was better than the pancakes but both were pretty good. Probably $2-4 more expensive per item than most other places but nyc diners thats kinda par for the course. Not somewhere ill go by myself but with a group or a special occasion this is a good spot to show off UES living. Which is weird bc you wouldnt think of a diner that way but i think the legacy, location, and price make this more of a treat than a regular go to.

2021-11-25NOT A CANDY SHOP! We went here thinking it would be a Willy Wonka-type place and its not at all... its a little diner.. but this is not a bad thing. The food is WONDERFUL and the service is top notch. I recommend a float or milkshake of some kind as theyre delish.. I ordered a Cherry Pepsi and it was real Cherry Pepsi... best Ive had EVER! Its not the cheapest place to eat, but you certainly get what you pay for. In service, food taste, quality and speed! I recommend highly... still not a candy shop...but will be returning soon nonetheless!

2021-07-19I loved Lexington Candy Shop! Outstanding service and friendly atmosphere. Food was delicious and we felt appreciated. Both the original French toast and strawberry pancakes were cooked just right and I wouldnt hesitate to order either again! Will definitely recommend to friends and be back next time we are in the city. Thank you so much!

2022-05-31I wanted to love this place. I mean, look how cute it is!! But it loses all of its charm when you realize that two eggs and some bacon costs $15, three very plain pancakes cost $17, your waitress never brings you your water, and then when you ask to pay your bill, the man behind the counter rolls his eyes and yanks your debit card out of your hand. Oh, and the tips are cash only, which he will make very clear.I’m really not a harsh critic, this was just such a letdown that I wanted to share with the class.

2021-07-19YOU MUST GO HERE!! It’s a perfect place to stop to have a bacon egg and cheese and freshly squeezed orange juice right before going to the Met.I was in awe in that I felt like I stepped back in time. The folks working were hospitable and seemed to have such a great time working with each other. I loved the vibe and the food was lovely. Will definitely be back again!

2021-04-04Taking a break after visiting a museum, and found this gem. Service was friendly and fast, food was good and fairly priced. My son raved about how fluffy his pancakes were, the fries were cooked well, and my salad was filling and delicious. Check it out!
