Liberty Diner in other cities:
The staff is always friendly and they greet you with a smile. After going several times they remember my name. Which adds an extra special touch. The portions are huge!!! A dinner could easily be two meals and often is for me. I enjoy the daily specials. Most are under $20 for soup, salad, entree, dessert and drink. The breakfast is breakfast. Its your standard fare. Every meal is enjoyable and keeps me coming back.
Good diner fare. Good coffee. Generous portions and breakfast was spot on. The only downside was some items being too salty, from the chicken noodle soup to the ham steak. Also, the home fries couldve been better. Other than that, great location with options for everyone.
Nourishing food at fair prices. Prime location just off Route 17. Fresh coffee and several options for tea. Ample parking, friendly staff and clean bathrooms. After his historic run for NY Governor, the Sullivan County Libertarian Party hosted Larry Sharpe here on October 18th, 2019.
We travel frequently and are trying to find a diner besides Roscoes. This was our 2nd try at Liberty. The first stop was lunch and 5 stars with that. However this stop was breakfast and our home fries were prior boiled and reheated half way. My husband did not get the omelette he ordered. The customer service was 5 stars, the cook was disappointing. 😔
Conveniently located right off Route 17 is an inexpensive, unprentious and cozy diner. As a local, I prefer the New Munson Diner because the food is a bit more fresh and has a lot more quality for the price. I celebrated my birthday with my parents as I particulary liked the double shot bloody marys served from their full bar. I reccomend the Cowboy Steak Wrap loaded with onions, melted cheese and tender, juicy rib eye. The wrap was smothered in a sweet, tangy homemade BBQ sauce. I took home a piece of NY Style Cheesecake and could not stop eating it until it was gone. The atmosphere is a family friendly, classic, traditional Greek diner experience with exceptional service.
This is so hard but I have to say something because I just don’t understand what happened to The Liberty Diner. When I first moved up here I would order 3 times or more a week, sometimes twice a day, always take out. The last few times I was extremely disappointed. I don’t know if they change the chef but the food all changed in the last year in terms of taste, consistency, the quality is terrible. Last time I ordered breakfast (pancakes, French toast, bacon, eggs) I swear it all went in the trash it was inedible. Last week a order a strawberry cheesecake and there was large chunks of cream cheese. Less cheese cake and more like slope. Their desserts use to be so good. I use to order there cheese cake weekly. Now it’s clumpy, not blended and undercooked. I couldn’t eat it. Unfortunately I will not go back there until I hear some changes were made.
Best place to eat in Liberty, hands down!! If you like the classic Greek diner, this is your place. And if you dont appreciate real diner food, there are plenty of average Italian type pizza places in the area. Everything down to the salad and french fries was perfect. Gyro definitely made right, not reheated from a plastic bag. I cant wait to come back for breakfast.
We stop here every Sunday we are set to return to NJ after camping in the Catskills for the weekend. The facility is clean and has small bottles of hand sanitizer at each table. The menu has a decent amount of options and the food has always come out hot and cooked properly. The table staff work their butts off and can be seen running from table to table. This can sometimes lead to a slight delay or break in communication, but when addressed, they always resolve any issues with a smile.
Absolutely wonderful food and absolutely wonderful service, one of the guests in our party had a gluten and dairy allergy and they catered to her needs and she was still able to enjoy a meal with the rest of us. The staff is absolutely wonderful and 100% worth the 30 minute drive from our campsite. Will be visiting again!
We went here during the weekend lunch rush so take that into account when I say this, but the breakfast dish I had ordered was awful. The hashbrowns were basically unseasoned boiled potatoes & the sausage was a large dinner variety while my over easy egg may as well have been called hard boiled. THAT BEING SAID!! the others at my table had ordered lunch foods and they both raved about the taste. Their dishes did look absolutely mouthwatering!!!Ill never go back here for breakfast, but their lunch and dinner meals looked good enough to give them another chance. Ill update this review if I ever go back!
I have never wanted to walk out of a restraunt before in my life. I waited 15 mins. For them to take my order and another 10 before i got half my drink order. After sitting for and hour and 15 mins with no food i finally walked out. I order the dinner special which came with soup and salad. I didnt even get that. I was extreamly disapointed and will not be visiting again.
You could go to a restaurant but Liberty Diner has the best food in Sullivan County, hands down. Family owned and run. Homemade turkey, brisket melts in your mouth. Fish dishes excellent. Just amazing. Never been disappointed. Theres plenty to take home. And its CLEAN!!! Good people, good service, good food, easy on your wallet.
The food was not very good. I got the fried chicken it was the worst Ive ever had. The inside of it was like mashed potatoes. They do have good desserts. Ive been a few times for breakfast and lunch, the breakfast is way over priced and wasnt good at all. The 2 ladies at the register were not very friendly, you are not going to get my money, serve me scrappy food and not be friendly. I wont be going back.
Our waitress was super busy with a full dining room and the covid requirements and yet she managed to take our order quickly, drop off our food promptly, and look after us throughout our meal. And all that with a cheerful attitude and a smile at 10pm on a Saturday. The food was great too, but the waitress knocked it out of the park for me!
Excellent in every way!! I had several meals here during a weekend stay in the area... Fast and courteous service followed by a meal that is cooked to perfection and there’s plenty of it too!Prices are extremely reasonable... I will most definitely come back time and time again when I’m in the area!
A great spot to grab food! Went on New Years Eve during a trip, and the service was great and the COVID-19 safety measures made me feel safe while my friends and I were eating. Their menu is large with an emphasis on Italian and Greek foods, while also having the usual dinner selection. I would go back the next time I drive through Liberty.
You can always count on a FANTASTIC meal here. The staff are kind and accommodating. If you EVER have a problem they do not hesitate to correct it. This establishment is THE BEST DINER locally. Dont forget to stop at the dessert carousel while you wait on your order..... trust me!
The people who came in after us were served and finished with their food before we even were attended too. I never had someone come around and ask if I needed any more coffee. I had gone to the counter myself and asked for more after waiting 20 minutes after finishing my coffee and still waiting for food. It took 45 minutes for our food to be served. It was cold and not that great. I asked for apple juice for my toddler but was given orange juice. The waitress didnt use a pad to even put the order down.
Specialty combo order it online an it even makes you pick from French fries or homemade fries also lets you pick toast then when i go pick up i just got eggs, tomato, avocado and cottage cheese, so i went back to tell the lady that Im missing my toast and home fries and the lady tells me that it doesnt come with it, try placing the order your self and youll see that Im correct maybe the website is wrong idk but if is wrong then i wouldnt pay 12.30 for that
I have been a loyal customer of Liberty Diner for many years. Each time I have a meal, the service is always very good with the wait staff being very attentive. The food is always fresh and the portions very generous. Well worth the money. Its the only diner I eat at and actually go out of my way to get to. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
The menu is, honestly, too expansive. Not expensive, but expansive. Too many options to choose from. Cocktails are expensive and thats the only reason for only 4 stars. Food is delicious and portions are large. I read many reviews suggesting this place as a pit stop and I agree.
The surrounding towns dont really offer much in the way of traditional diners, so this is your only real option. Its hyper saturated with locals as a result. The food is good, havent had a bad meal, but mostly just standard. Theres no special marker that makes this place stand out. Service has improved over the years, their current wait staff is the best its ever been. This is a good place to group up or have a relaxing meal with the family.
Good food, great service. My kids and I had breakfast for dinner, my wife had southern fried chicken. My vegetable omelet had a farms worth of vegetables. The wifes chicken was perfectly cooked, the batter had a sweet taste that made us wonder if maple syrup is used in the recipe. The kids pancakes and French toast disappeared so fast, we never even saw them.
This diner was a quick stop off on a road trip for us. It was conveniently located and the servers were very quick to seat us and were very nice. My go to diner fare is a Gyro platter. I was pretty excited about it , and then I found bone shards in the Gyro meat. The manager removed my meal from our bill and was very kind about the situation saying that she was going to talk to her distributor.
Ive been going to the liberty diner for years and have yet to have a bad experience. Even during rush hour they still keep their composure and handle what needs to he handled. Im not going to lie, there has been some times where it may have taken a little longer to get some more ketchup or something silly but overall its a good place to eat with a lot of variety.
This Place is what Dinners are all about just like the Old Days. Home cooked meals with top restaurant experience. Staff and Food above and beyond. Place bring your whole family for dinner or special occasion without breaking the bank. Great choices of specials for everyone to choose from that are also all good when you do or everyday choices to choose from that are all delicious and inexpensive. What a Dinner is suppose to all about Food, Atmosphere, Experience. Family and Friends Time or even alone because at Liberty Dinner is the PLACE TO GO
We absolutely love The Liberty Diner! We live in Cochecton and drive 20 minutes just to eat here... The servers & owners are so dang nice.. We just love them all.. They literally make us feel like we are family.Now... Lets talk about the Food... Ive yet to have a disappointing meal.. Ever! I highly recommend the Steak Ceasar Salad with their Amazing house dressing or the Oriental Chicken Salad with Sesame dressing... And be prepared to bring most of it home.. They are huge!!!
Was very impressed for a diner as they can be hit or miss.First off, props to the waitress for putting up with some of my aunts crazy questions and assumptions as she used to work at a diner. Everything she said the waitress acted politely towards and had a lot of patience!I had the tuna melt with onion rings. At midnight, with all the cravings, you couldnt beat it! Yes, were the onion rings frozen, fried to order, but did they also hit the spot? Absolutely. My open faced tuna melt was exactly what I wanted. Fresh, not dry and the bread was toasted perfectly, not mushy as some can be!Would return again.
We stopped on our way to NYC. Great food. Wonderful attentive service. We were too full to try dessert and were going to stop on our way home, but made the huge mistake of trying Roscoe Diner instead. Awful experience there! I encourage people to go to Liberty Diner, Exit 100.
Great food, thought service was evidently biased. Server interacted minimally. Post meal, cleaning up the table didnt seem a priority. Paying the bill at the counter was an equally cold experience.Perhaps this diner too is not used to seeing many visitors of colour.I responded in my way by tipping upwards of 20%. Building bridges, not walls 🤗
They had decent (but not amazing) pot roast . The mashed potatoes were slightly off. They were so kind as to give a replacement. The replacement was griddle potatoes (which was decent). They give a lot for the price.A very good value, but hit and miss.I would have allocated 3.75 stars, but that was not available, so I allocated 4.
My sister and i had a really good time at this place. we came because we were waiting on a ride and all we wanted were milkshakes, which we got and which were delicious. the service was friendly and fast. we came on a friday night at around midnight and it wasnt too packed. overall would recommend!
Not sure why this place has good reviews. Its run down, shabby, dated. The food is avg at best. Have had 4 different things there and they were all bad. The cashiere is aweful and acts like customers are an annoyance. Be sure to visit on Drive Your Car Into the Diner Night when one of the locals will crash thru a wall into your booth.
Pancakes. I ordered apple cinnamon pancakes. Pancakes arrived with an apple pie like topping. I couldnt taste cinnamon. The pancakes were cooked on a surface that had cooked onions. Not a flavor I wanted. Had to wait longer than expected for a side of cottage cheese. We were allowed to sit and dine at our own pace. Friendly waitresses.
Nick (the owner) is a real hands on operator. This is a family business reminiscent of the old style diners. This place has its roots in the City and the food is good. The staff keep the style of NY Difficult to a T and everything feels very comfortable. This is a must stop for anyone driving on 17.
Had to go to traffic court in the town. I live hour and half away. I was not attracted to the area and was skeptical about eating anything around. I Google a diner and this diner was closest, so I said a prayer. I must say that what I had hoped to be a decent meal, turned out to be a extremely delicious meal, from the biscuits and gravy, to my salad with grilled chicken. My friends burger with onion rings were also top notch. Im craving more 3 days later and Im now sad I live so far away.
I had not been to this diner in over 2 years because it always appeared dirty to me but decided to try it again last Sunday evening. It was very hot outside and the diner was very busy. We are patient people so not too upset it took the waiter almost 20 minutes to come take our drink order and also took our food order at the same time. I ordered scallop scampi (it was on the menu) and my husband order meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Now we have been waiting 40 minutes, still no coffee. My husband asked if they had run out of coffee. Our meaIs finally arrived and I received 6 grossly overcooked shrimp in a barely warm slimey sauce and my husband received dried up meatloaf with linguini. He sent his back to get requested potatoes and received them without any gravy or butter, waiter then asked if he would like gravy. The waiter kept apologizing, but still anything we needed, coffee refills, bread and the like, we had to ask for, never offered. The final straw was when I was charged $19.99 for my gross meal. The girl at the check out did not greet us or ask if everything was alright, not one word was spoken to us other than the amount owed. Unfriendly, overpriced and food not good. Never again will I go there.
Best cheese cake in the county. I really love there eggplant and spegetti also there cheese burgers and Curley fires are always on point. Looking for a quick meal with great service this is the place to go. Customer service is always great. Angelica is the best waitres shes nice and always has the best service. I highly recommend the liberty diner.
The food is fair. The staff reflects the locals. A bit of a trailer park crowd. The Bus Boys work hard and the cashiers are friendly. The food is diner food a little on the expensive side but since they are the only game in town, you do not have much of a choice. The internet used to work but that too has gone to hell. The desserts are good though.
Food was okay but the service really needs to get it together, I know its hard to find people to work for you to promote your company but I really prefer going to a diner where I know that somebodys going to help me with the specials and you get my drinks correct and then I wont have to repeat myself over and over and over.
Hostess just threw our menus on the table waitress was slow and inconciderate was out here for a job so Im glad to say that even if I had to come back here Ill never eat there again. Plus paid for 2 cheeseburgers that we didnt eat cause it was horrible $25 bill lucky I left a $3 tip. I usually tip %10

2022-06-05The service was incredible. We asked for lots of honey mustard, and it was the most mustard I’ve ever been given… a carousel of honey mustard. Now I prefer a homemade honey mustard so that is a consideration but I still give it 5 stars. See photo for the amount of honey mustard.

2021-09-06During our road trips, my wife & I like to randomly check out diners for breakfast.Liberty Diner didnt disappoint us.I ordered the 2 eggs sunny side up with chicken fried steak, home fries & whole wheat toast. My wife ordered scrambled eggs with spinach, cheddar cheese, home fries & gluten free toast.Needless to say, our breakfast was delicious & fulfilling. We added Liberty Diner to our list and will definitely stop by again on our next road trip.

2022-05-30Excellent diner, food was great, the service was very friendly and the portions ample. Not a bad menu either. Lots of choices no matter what youre in the mood for...we had burgers, a pot pie and a chicken caesar salad at our table and everything equally appealing.

2022-03-21Nice homley diner in town. The food was good, as well as the atmosphere and staff. Our waitress was very nice and took her time as we went through the menu. They have a nice selection of pie to compliment the dinner menu.

2022-05-29The waitress was attentive, we left her a decent tip. The food was ok for not wanting to cook myself and ample portioned. We ordered cheese sticks and fries with gravy for first dish, both good. I ordered a grilled shrimp gyro, my Husband a well done burger with onion rings and my Son, a steak wrap with onion rings. The onion rings were soft and the onion rubbery. The gyro was more salad than shrimp (2-3 shrimp) and came with a salad and a veggie type fries. The steak wrap was greezy but ok .. couldve been seasoned more.. not bad, but not GREAT.

2022-06-27Food options and quality were EXCELLENT!! Service was sub-par. I exercised lots of patience because it appeared they were under staffed, which I have noticed has become the norm for lots of places in the restaurant industry.

2020-12-31Delicious and creative. They offer everything! We ordered the potato skins, breakfast sausage gravy biscuit, and Monte Cristo sandwich (roast turkey instead of the labeled ham and cheese) on challah bread. No cutlery, yeah!
