The best place to see S of L is on the ferry.
Very cool island and experience. The crowds are very heavy so be prepared to wait on good weather days.
Most iconic place to visit by Americans & tourists.the Liberty Island was earlier place for prehistoric site for native Indians, and n modern time period, it was French naval station, prison, gallows, later military fortification and now Known world over for iconic Statue of Liberty, beaconing people all over the world.......
It was a very special experience being there in person, and not just from pictures or tv. I think everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. We didnt go inside the Statue of Liberty, but honestly just being there that close was enough. They have a cafe & a gift shop (with LOTS of souvenirs) on the island. On the other side of the statue, you have the most amazing view of NYC! Perfect for pictures! Definitely would love to come visit again!
Its main draw is the Statue of the Liberty, probably the most iconic symbol of America. There is a nice museum at the base of the statue, a store for souvenirs and gifts, and a cafeteria. Expect scenic views at every turn.Reaching the island is by ferry from Manhattan or New Jersey. Security is tight, with visitors required to go through security before boarding the ferry and accessing the statues pedestal and crown from the base.

It was totally worth it.Drive to the island is short, if you sont want you dont need to pay to get in the statue.Its more then enough to go around it.

Such a nice place to visitBe please be ready for the following things;-Book in advance for admissions tickets for entering the statue ! Dont try to go there and buy ! The tickets get sold out maybe 1 week prior to the date you want to go, so you better book as soon as you know your schedule !-Be ready for a security check!-Book tickets for the cruise online, its a bit cheaper !By the way there is a lemonade shop there (forgot the name ) , it was so delicious that I ended up drinking 2 large size cups.

Beautiful and historic. Also a tourist trap, pay $18 dollars just to get there (for the basic cost not including food or better passes to actually get into the statue), deal with rude tourists, and waste time. Over priced and not worth the money.

An absolute must tourist destination. We walked a circle around the island, stopping to take many photos and videos as any tourist should for their first visit. We didnt go inside the statue but hope to on a return visit. There are several shaded areas to retreat from the sun and spots to soak in that Vitamin D while you admire that statue up close.
Privileged to be here.....Here only realised the colour of statue was never a green.When erected the colour was bronze and later because of oxidation it turned green because of corrosion.Authorities and people later started liking the green colour layer which in turn is actually protecting the statue from corrosion.Travellers can always view the Statue from ground but for pedestal and crown one need to book a slot atleast a month before.Statue ticket price is 20 USD . Which includes Ellis Island tour , Liberty Island tour and Manhattan

Ok so this is BS. Ive lived here for years and finally hopped the 20 dollar water taxi over to the park, only to find there is a FOUR MONTH waiting list to go onto the base of the statue and an even longer wait to go to the crown. Excuse me? Where is the LIBERTY in liberty state park? This place is the malignant tumor on the face of the federal parks system. I feel robbed beca7se Im spending 60 for 3 people to sit on the ground and look at the damn statue.MEANWHILE, the interior is very nearly empty. So wheres the wait you losers? For shame. This is not why my Irish immigrant ancestors helped found this country.

Of course the statue is the main attraction, but the island itself is a nice place to spend time, granted, its usually quite crowded with tourists.The ferry ride itself offers amazing views of the island, as well as of downtown Manhattan (if thats where youre coming from) and is worth the ferry ride in its own right.

The island was very nice to visit. You have to purchase a extea ticket to go inside the Statue of Liberty. If you have the city pass, its only good for visiting the island.

Definitely a must during a trip to nyc. However the prices are a bit steep, especially considering you have to get a ticket prior to visiting he island to be able to get up because they don’t sell tickets on the island apparently...

Liberty Island is a federally owned island in Upper New York Bay in the United States, best known as the location of the Statue of Liberty. The island is an exclave of the New York City borough of Manhattan, surrounded by the waters of Jersey City, New Jersey. Long known as Bedloes Island, it was renamed by an act of the United States Congress in 1956. In 1937, by Presidential Proclamation 2250 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, it became part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument and in 1966,[3] was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Statue of Liberty National Monument, Ellis Island and Liberty Island.
A great place to visit with an audio guide. The amenities and facilities are good.

The Statue of Liberty that weve all come here to see if on this island. This island is not very big. You can pretty much walk around it. Pick up your free audio guide upon your arrival. Go to the Statue at your allocated time. Join a free ranger guide tour. Its worth the time. Be sure to visit the museum and use your audio guide at the various sight in the island. Bring your own ear buds for convenience and comfort. Allow about 2 hours at least to do all this. Depending on the queue to get to the top or the pedestal level as well. There are toilets at the museum and the Statue of liberty - before you join the queue to go up. Be prepared for all kinds of weather conditions.

Had a great time at the liberty island, home of statue of Liberty. The weather was awesome. Audio tour helped a lot.. airways will recommend to use it. Could learn lot about the history of the place. Great rush though.. had to wait to get into the ferry. Always will recommend to book online.
Must see! Great pics and views of Manhattan from there. Take drinks with you, there very very expensive.
Great place. If youre going up the statue be ready for some climbing, and some security. Bring only what you need camera and phone you have to leave the rest anyway and lockers are a pain. Staff very knowledgeable and for the most part polite/enthusiastic (other than security, very rude!).
Great time seeing how my parents arrived. The most impressive part was the tour of the old medical facilities. All in ruins but you saw the medical wards, surgical theater, staff housing, and offices . It was massive. The museum was very informative on the criteria used to see if you would be allowed to enter.
Its always a great experience. No matter how many times I see it I have to take a picture. The ones posted were from the ferry going to Staten Island after taking my family earlier that day. Visiting, tourist, or local its a great way to spend the day of you havent been in a while, or bringing someone for their first time.
Long waiting in lines. Some tourists really need to learn some respect. But overall a worthy experience, statue of the liberty is way prettier if you see it that close and the color is so vibrant. The museum got some nice first-immigrant luggages.
Highly recommend getting tickets ahead of time to go up to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. The view is amazing, and it’s so cool to get to be up there. The National Park Service regulates tickets well – it’s one of the few U.S. attractions I’ve been to that didn’t feel overrun with people (in part because the crown itself is quite small). Note that there’s no elevator to the top; you’re on your own with 350+ steps, many of which are on a small double-helix spiral staircase.
If you have a significant other then this can be a great place for the two of you to visit. Its so beautiful and can be totally romantic. Or you can just go alone and have an adventure. If you seek a perspective of history, then I suggest you definitely get a tour guide if you dont already have knowledge of your own. But if you just want great photos then I mean any and everywhere in NY is a great opportunity!

Great attraction. Just dont buy the lemonaid, it tastes reaally bad, feela luke it leaves a layer of plastic on my toungue.
It was busy but I liked the experience. Theres a restaurant in the island and they have a store for memorabilia.
A great place to visit! The only downside is if you want to go into Lady Liberty you have to buy tickets months in advance. You can go to the island the same day, but to go inside you have to plan your trip ahead of time.

This shot was taken while riding aboard the NY fire departments newest boat. It was a cool day in october but the views were stunning. I definitely recommend a visit to those who have never been to New York. Lady Liberty in all her greatness!

There’s so much to do on this island other than checking out, marveling at, and taking pictures of and with the Statue of Liberty. There’s a lot of space to walk and stroll around and just take in the atmosphere of New York City. And the island offers some really nice photo ops, especially that of the NYC skyline. This place is great to hang out at especially when the weather gets nice and you can really spend the whole day here learning about the statue and its history as well as New York City’s.
Very nice place to visit. The museum is done very well and they view is cool. Take the guided tour and learn SO much more. Get pedestal access, its the best way to expereince it all. Understand that there is a TSA like security check point at Battery Park loading area to the water shuttle and then again before entering the statue pedestal. Also, no food or drinks are allowed and no bags so youll have to rent a locker at the rate of $2 for 2 houra.
Must see for everybody, expect it to be busy on weekends and holidays. Make sure your phone/camera has full battery to take as much pictures as you can. Purchase your tickets directly from the castle. Do not fall for the guys in red or yellow golf shirts, they will rip you off.
The island and statue are awesome.. However ticketing staff is not helpful in giving rightful information. The ticketing officer doesnt show interest in answering any questions as simple as do we have any openings for crown visits.

The island is very clean and beautiful..........The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel......... There are some historical moments at here like.... The statue of liberty and other things....... We found it very beautiful....... thanks............
I have to confess we didnt get off the ship. We were on a five day break with loads to pack in. Photos from a distance but the ferry journey was bright, sunny and extremely breezy.
Unfortunately I cant review how the Statue of Liberty was inside, as it is currently being renovated, I can say that they do have some cute teddy bears stuffed animals dressed like a Statue of Liberty for sale. You can take pictures of the Statue of Liberty from all sorts of angles. And I would also recommend trying to get some shots too while youre on the ferry.
The line is forever on weekends, about a mile. Estimate wait time around 3-4 hrs. Make sure to check the ticket office closing time, they close quite early. But anyway, still a must-see attraction once in the states

It is worth visiting this island. In addition, there are amazing views of the Manhattan skyline and the New York Harbor. So, you can consider it as hitting 2 birds with 1 stoneNote: Use the promenade on the perimeter of the island for good close-up/selfie/group shots with the NYC skyline (and harbor) in the background.Keep your phones (and any other fragile photography items intact) as the pavement is concrete. A small drop (from about 3 feet) can damage glass components (such as the screen). Mine did!

My mother recalls coming to America,from Italy as a little girl, and how everyone went to one side of the huge ship. It was to see the Statute of Liberty for the first time. 70 years later its as vivid to her as it was back then.
Too crowded with lines too long
I can here in the summer of 2001....im from Atlanta, we have our own culture too. But there is no place in of itself like New York and particularly Ellis island. Man, I can still remember the waves crashing up against the ferry. Climbing the spiral staircase to see the skyline. A lot has changed in 17 years but the memories are still vivid and will never fade.
Absolutely brilliant, dont miss this trip on the Stratton Island Ferry to Liberty Island. Big queues but well worth the wait. Statue of Liberty is awesome, if you want to go up to tbe crown its extra and advisable to pre-book.

A little dirty, but the view was great and thats what I came for. Also just standing there and realising the history if the place is really crazy. It makes me proud to be an American even through all the struggles the country is going through.
The Statue of Liberty is such an iconic feature of America you just have to go there while in New York. It was a lot smaller than I imagined but absolutely a work of art . I couldnt stop taking photos .Excellent.
Another must do when in new York.You can do the ferry trip as an excursion which we did and I recommend as you get close (although you can no longer go up it) or you can get a cheap ferry to Starting Island and you pass by closely.On Liberty island there are restuarants to get food and drink and a decent gift shop ?Be it fairly expensive)
A must see while in New York! Statue is beautiful, museum in pedestal is nice! You can just visit anywhere on the island. And, as long as if you have tickets (which need to be reserved months and months in advance) you can visit anywhere in the statue!But big, big minor: the organisation with Statue Cruises and National Park Services is horrible! Especially the service in New Jersey and in tent near the statue.Biggest issues:Lots of unnecessary queing, which make a visit to Liberty Island and Ellis Island last the entire day.No where good information about boat schedules, all needs to be asked at info counters. Specially in New Jersey site.Will call tickets at New Jersey have no advantage over normal ticketing, at will call desk normal tickets are being sold too.They make you pay for obligated lockers to get into pedestal and crown of the statue! And only payment in cash can be done! So bring in some dollars.Lockers are in an overcrowded tent with an overcrowded souvenir shop and overcrowded security check. Staff is loudly yelling all the time to move forward, but theres simply no space to move.Museum in pedestal shows a lot of the statue, but many artifacts from exhibition are missing, even though mentioned in audio guided tour.
If you have never been before its a must. Its a beautiful place and imagining all the people who passed through this site is a very emotional place. What this location symbolizes speaks for itself.

Theres just so much feeling, or lack there of, defending a nations right to defend itself. No words can describe the change in the country the day those towers disappeared from the skyline. God bless America.
Thankfully it was a sunny day as otherwise the trip across would be choppy. We got there as soon as the ticket office opened and checking the later ferries coming over they were packed. We sat on the top of the ferry and sneakily listened to one of the tour guides on the lower deck giving the history of both here and Ellis island.
It gets extremely crowded, visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid large tourist groups. You`ll also be able to take great pictures of downtown from Liberty Island.
A must do trip for families of this national treasure. Make sure you reserve your spot months in advance. If you show up the day of your and try to buy tickets you wont be able to go up in the statue.
I grew up in Elizabeth NJ and never had the opportunity to visit her:( I know there was a battle over whos state Shes in from the looks of it there is a state line surrounding the island inside is NY, jump in the river and your in NJ? Come on now sSHE belongs to all of us! We should make it a separate Federal land since she was given to the people of the USA not a state.
Just a short ferry ride and youve arrived. Was amazing to see finally however the island is a little small and the gift shops and restaurant was mega busy but I guess thats to be expected :)
The view from there is amazing! Is a nice trip pretty much anyone can afford and besides, its a nice to learn something about one of the most important icons from USA.
Had an awesome New York adventure with friends. It was super hot so luckily it was cloudy. The ferry was crazy crowded but overall great experience.

You must see this at least once in life! I grew up always remembering seeing this fine pady in Ghostbusters and loved getting to see her up close! Such a beautiful island and the ferry ride makes it all the better!

I love the Statue of Liberty! Who doesnt?Definitely schedule your trip in advance and purchase tickets online, so you can avoid the loooong line for ticket purchases and standby ferry rides. Id recommend going first thing, so you can move on to Ellis Island quick enough.It gets super cold waiting for the ferries to the island/back home, so try to dress appropriately.The Statue of Liberty is a must-see, but if you dont have the time or funds for a visit, hop on the Staten Island Ferry for a quicker, FREE look at her from afar.
Bring your own stereo headphones for the audio tour. Audio device uses 1/8 inch adapter. Book crown access tickets 3 or 4 months prior to trip.

It was a nice experience. Definitely a must do in NYC. Smaller than I thought it would be, and didnt get to go up as high as I thought I would in the pedestal, but still a good experience. Clean grounds and nice staff.
I loved the history of how the Statue of Liberty came to be where it is right now and what it represents, and to get the chance to visit such a historical structure of symbolism is a great feeling and opportunity.

Boats to and from are regular. There is food available on the island and of course the iconic statue of liberty. A must do thing if your visiting New York.
Super views of the Statue, Ellis Island, and NYC. Easy to get around and see the museum. The museum is occasionally hands on which made it more engaging for my young kids.

Water ride nearer to statue of liberty is enjoyable, .it is free ride .one must visit this island to witness symbol of liberty.there is always scope for improvement hence 4*.
We didnt actually go on the island we were on a Spirit Cruise and it got real close to the island and from what I understand it is much better to do the cruise and to actually go on the island and go up to Statue of Liberty

Its great to see Lady Liberty up close. Crown visits are usually sold out few months in advance so if you really want to go there plan with that in mind.

Ive been here twice... and Im not even a New Yorker! Top tip: Get the audio guide and bask in the rich history of la liberté éclairant le monde, and find out why copper looks so blue. Do remember to drop by the gift shop for Statue of Liberty chocolates.

The United States Lighthouse Board had responsibility for the operation of the Statue of Liberty until 1901, when the care and operation of the Statue was placed under the War Department. A Presidential Proclamation declared Fort Wood (and the Statue of Liberty within it) a National Monument on October 15, 1924, and the monuments boundary was set at the outer edge of Fort Wood. In 1933, the care and administration of the National Monument was transferred to the National Park Service.On September 7, 1937, jurisdiction was enlarged to encompass all of Bedloes Island and in 1956, the islands name was changed to Liberty Island. On May 11, 1965, Ellis Island was also transferred to the National Park Service and became part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument

Not the best experience... had tickets online and then got offered to get my tickets refunded and wait an hour fifty minutes to repurchase the tickets. Never got in there and probably never will try again.
A must if you come to NY. The ferry ride is nice and Ellis Island is worth the stop.
The place was very clean and there was a very beautiful landscape to look at. This is a very good place to relax if you need to.
I visited Lady Liberty five years ago and had an amazing time. Beautiful statue.
My nuts itch please help, I expected the statue to itch my nuts for me but it did not, 1 star, never visit, no nuts are itched here.

We came in March..cloudy day really means bring warm clothes and head gear for ears...wind is brutal.

Not to bad ok if you what and need to know the history of this place but hard to get off give yourself more time to do so.
Interesting to see the French built statue and everything that goes with it. Have to go through heavy background checks to get up on it though.

2022-06-18An excellent island to obviously see the statue, but also walk around.Theres fairly quiet seating areas, as well as grassy areas you can sit on (watch out for the geese!). Its worth visiting in its own right, although youll have to go through a security screening process at the start.

2022-04-08Got to see the iconic Statue of Liberty here. Unfortunately I didn’t go inside the statue because I found out you have to buy tickets way in advance. Good times here 🗽🗽🗽.

2021-08-09The Statue of Liberty National Park is a super cool trip. It’s not quick but it IS worth it!The ferry trip was lots of fun and although you may get tempted to not go if you are prone to being sea sick, it was a smooth ride. And very quick.. I would think that was only about 10 minutes.The Museum is awesome! First it’s air-conditioned which is a nice relief when it’s really hot!But also an insider tip, get some Bill’s lemonade. My wife’s first response was: “wow!” And my cousin said: “best I’ve ever had.” It’s fresh squeezed and so it’s not about the sugar taste. There’s a reason there’s a line. Try it!Get the pedestal ticket for the best views!Lastly, in the museum watch the free movie. It’s super inspirational!If this has helped you, please give it a like!

2022-06-28It is a compact island that has a lot to see. There are lockers to put your things into before going inside the 4 floors of the Statutes pedestal since you cant bring much with you inside. There is a restaurant and gift shops available.

2022-06-15We used the Go City Explorer Pass for visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. On Liberty Island we visited the museum, which is really informative and beautifully put together. Then we walked to Lady Liberty, just a beautiful statue and worth visiting up close.

2022-05-18Amazing experience!!! Lady Liberty is absolutley beautiful!!!! Pictures do not do her justice in person the experience is magical! What are you doing even looking at reviews theres no down side in going to Liberty island. Expect that the front of Lady liberty and the gift shop close at 5:30 so go early to take pictures, admire her beauty and go to find cool stuff at the gift shop.
