Usually I have a bit of doubt on funky place such as Lil Debs Oasis but no, this place was amazing. Must have tried almost entire menu and every single item was good. We especially loved the fragrant rice. They only take reservations for 4 so get there early. Cocktails were a bit disappointing but other drinks were funky and interesting.I believe street parking only.
Latin-Asian-Middle Eastern fusion in a bright, bubbly, funky environment. My only regret was that I was dining alone and couldnt order more dishes to share. The staff was friendly and helpful both as to food and beverage choices. I had the kibbiche and the seafood consomme. You could taste the freshness of every ingredient. Presentation was the perfect blend of art and homey. Eclectic and oh-so-original cocktails, liquors, beers - I tried the kimchi martini which paired beautifully with the kibbiche. Yum. BTW -- If you are a conspiracy theorist, you might want to look for a Cracker Barrel.
Loved the music - not the food. The place looks like a diner transformed into a 90s LGBT community party. The music is fantastic & the decor is fun. It was also full of people when I went there (Friday night). I ordered one of the salads of the day, highly recommended by the waitress (which was awful) & a vegetarian dish which was supposed to be Colombian, which I also didnt like at all. I also had two different beers - none of their beers are local nor fresh, which is such a huge shame, considering the number of microbreweries around. Why do I need to sit in Hudson and drink a beer inported from Mexico out of a bottle or can? They are very proud of their wines & talk about them at length. Overall, I am not convinced about this place and would not go there again, although I did like the atmosphere. I would also agree with some of the previous reviewers - its overpriced. I paid $40 for a dinner I didnt even enjoy. The salad was just sad.
Ive been to Lil Debs several times now, and aside from the restaurant being absurdly cute (it may not be everyones aesthetic but its definitely mine, and the only place in Hudson where you can feel like youre near a beach in January), they also have great food.Even though its one of the simplest dishes, my favorite thing on the menu is the yucca frita with their addictive salsa verde. I like that while the menu isnt huge, they have a really cool variety of food, including llapingacho, which is hard to find. The drinks are also delicious and unusual, plus they have some cool non alcoholic drinks.
Soooo goood! Awesome staff and food! Everything and I mean everything was delicious. Amazing flavors. I wanted to try more things on menu! Will definitely return! The wine pours a bit too small. Small place with small menu but with just enough variety. Tamale, plantains, greens, red snapper and the banana dessert were so well seasoned and creative. Id definitely return. Interesting cocktails. A definite experience worth the wait if there is one.
The food is delicious, very well paired flavors. Very welcoming and friendly staff, but a bit late with our order. I had the Spiced Lentils and The Grilled Octopus on a bed of bitter greens and a lemon vinaigrette smoked avocado dressing which complemented the dish very well...
My sister, wife and friend of ours had a fabulous dinner at Debs Oasis. I own two restaurants in California and my wife and I have eaten at many high end and world renowned restaurants and Debs is every bit as good. The food is creative, fresh and seasoned perfectly. The service was very friendly and attentive and every staff member was knowledgeable with the food and beverage. The food has many influences from around the world and its a very unique menu. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Everything is super delicious, and its a fun little place to dine in. The garlicky greens on my plato tropical were SO good it made me angry... in a good way! Local beers on tap, creative dishes, and a menu that isnt too long and complex. Unlike any place Ive been to before. Already planning another trip back.
Every dish we had was innovative and delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were a large party (9) and they had no trouble accommodating us and bringing out our dishes quickly. The best part was the downright addicting crispy potatoes. Already looking forward to my next visit here
Amazing. We got one of almost everything on the menu, had to get a second ceviche, plantains and potatoes. Mocktails are on point, and the cocktails are also good. Mead was very interesting. Honestly everything here is delicious, but be prepared to spend Manhattan money.
Very poor dining experience tonight. The food was not Latin, but a sort of Eastern European and not particularly tasty. Portions were meager and lacking innovation (though that should be expected for Eastern European food). While the cocktails were not bad, the wine was flat and not worth the price.Ah yes, we were also charged for a beer (we did not order) on the bill AFTER having given our credit card.Overall unimpressed. While we had high hopes, we were disappointed. We’re not able to recommend or to visit again.
This is one of the most creative, welcoming, delicious restaurants in the world. I’m 3,000 miles away and I think often and fondly of this place and the day I can come back and order four portions of plantains in a row again. If you sell gift cards or have any way to support you guys online please post details. Stay well and please stay open!
I disagree with their food ontologically. I see so much more room for improvement. Instead of postmodern cultural robbing. Good service...Edit: In regards to your response their are many factors to be considered. I have been to lil debs many times all before the pandemic. We must consider several things when discussing colonial frameworks. For one, there is the myth of authenticity. I would argue that it is equally harmful to reach for a rejection of colonial elevation only to seek a sort of purity. Best expressed, I think, by Edward Said, non-marxist though he was .In regards to your chef there are other factors to consider beyond their origins. For starters, as I am sure you are aware, there are many nuanced dynamics in Latin America. Is the chef a white colonizer or a brutalized indigenous person? where do they sit in between? But more importantly, you are still the capitalists, I believe white settler colonists, who are shaping an engagement with colonialism. Sketchy if you ask me.I also want to add, I do really appreciate your work with the community.
What a freakin awesome restaurant. Easily one of the most unique, coolest atmospheres for dining in Hudson. The food is always good, and the wait staff are fun and usually seem to be enjoying themselves. A favorite spot for my partner and I to do Saturday nights out on the town.
Yummy food, I must admit, but little else. Very hesitant to return due to the prices, paper and plastic serving dishes, and uncomfortable seating. Food mostly served cold.Compost cocktail- I thought was supposed to be a joke? Tastes the way the water seeping out of a compost bag smells.
One of the best dining experiences of my life. The food was absolutely incredible and I would eat that whole fried fish everyday of my life. Service was perfect; warm, kind, and welcoming. And the freaking VIBE was everything I dreamed it would be, dope music and decor to die for. They are 100% killing the game here, inspiring to say the least.
We were extremely disappointed in the waitress / cashiers attitude. Maybe she was having a bad day, but its no excuse to be rude to customers. Let me start off with, I hate writing a bad review during a pandemic because we appreciate and support small businesses. WE ALWAYS TIP HANDSOMELY WHEN IT IS DESERVED!We ordered items from the menu *for takeout* and upon checking out, she stated, are you tipping 20%, 25%, or 30%? I noted there were signs that all indicate, you bust your own table. Knowing we were taking the food away, we did not tip. She said rather loudly, WHAT, NO TIP?!Firstly, people do not have to tip if they are taking something to go.Secondly, you do not state that a customer must tip over 20% as if youve served us to some amazing standard.Thirdly, if you instruct people to bust their own tables, WHY DO YOU DESERVE A TIP? Ill even give the benefit of the doubt and say, okay, the staff needs to wipe down the table for COVID measures, fine- YOU DONT ORDER EACH CUSTOMER TO TOP YOU OFF AT 20%!LEARN SOME MANNERS WITH YOUR ENTITLED EYE-ROLL.For every customer coming here, I get it- You would want to support your local restaurant, but in no way should a business bully your customer to tip when you have not provided an additional service. If the food had been stellar, sure, we would have given you something extra, but your attitude sucks! Now, onto the food:Stuffed tomato $12.69. This was a good stuffed tomato, but $12.69? Nah, this markup was insane for a tomato. See photo. Its -- a tomato.Buckwheat Flatbread $15.69. This was a good flatbread. Again, $15.69? Sorry, it was small and we can get some pretty damn good flatbread elsewhere.Scallop skewer $15.69. This was labeled as a large. NOPE, dont expect something large. Its a typical skewer... its a good skewer and Ill give credit where it is deserved, but we have had some delicious seafood for well under this price point. See photos. Ill give you the benefit of the doubt on this one and maybe seafood is a bit more pricey now, but dont advertise your scallops as large.Listen, I get the restaurant is good and many people appreciate it, but if you are reincarnating as FUEGO 69, go and REINCARNATE your attitude with it.The other servers seemed pretty nice, but Id consider my review when she bosses you to tip 20% and give her back some attitude!Total: $47.60 for a bad attitude, small tomato, small skewers, and small flatbread. Check out the photos. Photos wont lie to ya! Also, the water was dirty in a dirty plastic cup.
Eclectic vibe, colorful atmosphere, vibrant staff and delicious(!) eats. The 1/4 chicken with hominy was very impressive, as were the plantains with cilantro yogurt. The waiting room upstairs felt incomplete, but apparently they just took it over, so I’ll give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to its potential.
These women are incredible, they have created such a fun, unique and inviting atmosphere within this little space. The dishes have so much authenticity and flavor. The ingredients are all so fresh and are prepared with love and care you will think someones grandmother is in the kitchen ( the recipes are actually from one of the owners grandmother). The closest thing to central / South American cuisine I have had since traveling in the Americas. Try the sweet plantains, youll want a second order. I had the mojo chicken it is a full meal with color and flavor to satisfy a hungry man. Thanks for bringing something so new to a city with too much of the same. Truly my new favorite place to go.
Come for the ambiance and service. The mixed drinks are so so, beer selection is good if you like sours like I do, food is well executed and thought out but really expensive for simple fare. Great people, but at this price point, Ill prob only come back for a couple apps and beers.
Come for the vibey fun atmosphere, and stay for the incredible food. Lil Debs doesnt fit neatly into a specific culinary category: its a wonderful mashup of Mexican, Peruvian, Caribbean, and southeast Asian. A great wine list and big-hearted staff will put a smile on your face. Always get the insalata del dia and ceviche del dia!
Theres no words to describe this place - its so amazing! The food, th decor, the staff - everything is phenomenal! If youre in Hudson, make sure you dont miss it. They dont take reservations, but theres a waiting room upstairs that is as charming as the restaurant itself.
A very unique experience in Hudson, a town most notable for trendy, more typical cuisine. The restaurant is run by a charismatic group of ladies who described the cuisine to me as Latin American Comfort Food though they definitely sample from many cultures cuisines. The vibe seemed sort of Cuban-influenced Miami, maybe a little bit Pee Wees playhouse. Its definitely located off the beaten path, and fairly small inside, so keep that in mind if you go on a busy night with a large party. Counter seating, plus maybe 6-8 small tables. They offer truly unique drinks, like the Leche de Tigre, a sort of Tropical Fire Cider, and there are always a few revolving specialties on the menu serving whatevers fresh in the area at the moment. Good music, friendly staff, fast service. Its cash only, which can be tricky to navigate with a larger party or a large bill. If youre stuck waiting for a table, theres a bar next door thats cheap, and the folks at Lil Debs will come get you when a tables ready. All in all, definitely stands out in a crowded Hudson restaurant scene.
Awesome! This place is insane. Hannahs food truck (two years ago down on Catskill waterfront) all grown up. Delicious, amazing spices and sauces, super friendly staff, and a bargain for the quality, insane flavors, and portions. Go now! Seriously. Before it is overrun..

2022-03-19This place is incredibly fun with unique decor, cool music and friendly service. Super fun to hangout with friends. The cocktails and food on the other hand, not exactly the best or a good reflection of the prices. It was also quite slow between dishes. Overall, it was ok only, shame because the place is super cool.

2022-03-28Eclectic atmosphere, spectacular and unique dishes and very friendly service. A must if you are visiting Hudson. Very small dining room so get cozy but plenty of bar seats.Loved the blooming onion and the whole fish fry is the best on the menu. Just go, youll love it.

2022-06-10Lil Deb’s is the equivalent to a 1980’s Miami fever dream, all bottled up into a tattooed filled, mullet-having, jean shorts wearing, LGBTQIA supportive tapas bar! With disco lights, flamingo pink and aqua blue façade, booths surrounded by souvenirs and pictures of folks having a good time, you are welcomed by smiles and the smells of good food.Enjoy having shareable plates of fried sweet plantains, crispy potatoes, octopus tostadas, and more!

2022-06-25I appreciated the color and creativity here. Fun atmosphere sitting in the courtyard at community tables under a fruiting mulberry tree. The food and drinks however were disappointing. The cocktails were colorful and fun looking but lacked flavor...one was even served Luke warm with no ice. The food most certainly did not match the price point. Tried several dishes with our final dish being The hen of the woods. It was almost fully raw when we cut into it and left my partner and I feeling Ill. We told the server that we would like a refund on that dish and they simply denied that it was undercooked and took it back to the kitchen. We were refunded for the plate and tipped with that meal reflecting it in the overall price. *If you fudge a meal in the kitchen then own that and please dont make the customer feel like they dont know what undercooked food looks and tastes like. Simply eat the cost of your inattentive chef and get the customer what they need to be happy. This place seems like its relying on its allure to drive there business. Time to step up the game here. Wont be back to try again given how many incredible dining experiences that can be had in the Hudson area.

2022-03-27What a great place. So glad to have found it. Great food, amazing hosts, incredible drinks. Could work the vegan options more. Amazing music and decor. Quirky hip vibe.

2022-06-29Food is amazing, staff is great. Really fun vibes. Wish the wine was kept in a cellar as it was all really warm, but the cocktails made up for it.

2022-05-21My wife has been here before, this was my first visit. Busy spot. Amazing atmosphere. Friendly staff. We had really quick service. Octopus tostada, BB salad, rice/beans/greens, and whole fried fish were all very tasty. Would reorder all of these items. Everything was fresh too. The dessert with the spicy drizzle on the sweet cream ice cream I would eat daily. Definitely new favorite spot in Hudson.

2021-10-09One of the best restaurants in the Hudson Valley. Incredible food, wonderful staff, and a queer safe haven if I’ve ever seen one.

2022-05-20Food was flavorful, true, but the almost $30 soft shell crab looked like a wet deflated balloon and nothing even close to what they posted on IG. I know it’s called “soft” shell crab, but it’s supposed to be crispy. I’m fine with donating money through menu items but I’m not fine with a restaurant spending $$$ on getting fancy photography taken, and then turn around and serve customer something that probably should never have left the kitchen. Makes me question their priorities is all.
