I have been going to Little Venice since I was a young child. We would either eat there or take out at least twice a month. It was ALWAYS my favorite Italian Restaurant. The food, the atmosphere, the people were second to none. My most recent experience was none of those things much to my and my familys extreme disappointment. We drove over an hour looking forward to the dinner we all have enjoyed many times. I have come to accept the new atmosphere, even though it has none of the charm of the old restaurant, however it was tough to accept the food that was served. Three of our five meals were cold, they were served within minutes of receiving our salads, we were never offered waters and we had to ask 3 different people for bread. I understand staffing is an issue across the country, however, at the time we visited there were only 4 table occupied including ours, so I dont think the staff was overwhelmed. The current owners are making changes that are definitely not improvements over Rockys way of doing things. I will have a tough time convincing my family to make the drive again. Please Little Venice take a hard look at the way you are doing things - I have recommended to many people that they make that drive - after this I cant do that.
Went to eat here last night and it was excellent! Loved the interior of the restaurant and all the original artwork! We got the bruschetta, lasagna, ravioli, fettuccine alfredo and pizza and they were all delicious. The portions were generous and perfectly cooked. I will definitely be back!
We had a family gathering and I was excited to eat when looking at the menu, but disappointed with the taste and temperature of the food. The back room was nice and private. But maybe 2 out of 15 people liked the food. Personally potato wedges were cold and dry, and the meat didnt have much flavor. The cocktails were average at best. We wont be returning.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening here at Little Venice with our group of 16 ladies! We were placed in the perfect spot for us, the food was delicious and the waitress, Morgan was AMAZING! To have to take care of a table of 16, on top of others she was covering, is a lot to have on your plate and she took such good care of us. Very professional, helpful, and accommodating. Ask for Morgan if you head out for a wonderful dinner at Little Venice in Binghamton.
This used to be one of my favorite places with consistently delicious food. New owners now charge for a bagged lettuce salad. Today my chicken cutlet was over cooked and served somewhat cold. The meatlog had literally no flavor to it. I have eaten there for 40 years and I’m sad to say the prices have gone way up and the quality of the food has definitely gone down. Disappointed!
The service was fine, the restaurant was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. The food was not good. The house marina sauce is very sweet and the fettuccine noodles were over cooked/soggie. Everything was bland and lacked seasoning, didn’t taste like authentic Italian.
A lot of people recommended this restaurant in Downtown Binghamton so we went for Valentine’s Day. My fiancée ordered shrimp scampi which was very bland. Pasta seems to be made from scratch. I ordered Mama’s chicken cutlet and it was very bad. The breaded chicken tasted like it had been fried in old oil, and the white wine sauce was not appealing at all. I give it two starts because servers were very kind. I don’t think I’ll be back.
Usually the food is excellent, however this time; not so much. My manicotti looked more like stuffed ziti (flat shells). Usually the manicotti has the typical big shells. My friends fettuccine was undercooked. It was a shame, due to Little Venice is known for their excellent food. (Also, Id like to point out that I much rather give compliments on here)
A few years ago my husband and I went to dinner at Little Venice thinking it would be great, it was packed with people. I ordered the fried fish, big mistake. The batter was dark suggesting the oil was old. I was nauseous and felt horrible for days. Saw my doctor that prescribed high dose antacid, didnt work, hospital scan showed 1 fatty liver lobe and this food threw me over the edge. I could not eat there again.
BEST RESTAURANT EVER!Although I havent lived in Binghamton in well over a decade, Little Venice is still (and probably always will be) my favorite restaurant in the world! The sauce: 10/10The fresh pasta: 10/10The staff & owners: 10/10For those like me who need their spaghetti and meat log fix from another state- you can order Little Venice to be frozen and sent to you. Tastes just as good as it does in person. You just cannot beat this place!
This restaurant is famous for a reason. Their sauce and their pasta are second to none. And the atmosphere is unlike anything youll see anywhere else on Earth, the walls lined not with replica paintings, but original, real ones. From Buffalo to NYC Ive not had better pasta anywhere.
My Son lives in Binghamton and this was his first time here .How Lucky were we to be with them ❤ What a beautiful restaurant with Great food. Loved All the Art work ..A truly beautiful atmosphere. Service was Great and the Food delicious ... Fresh Pasta..None better. If you are lucky enough to live near Go there !!@
I went there Saturday December 4th and the bar lady was very rude tried to do a gift card that I knew if I did $100 I get a gift of $20 but was not trying to give it to me was very upset but a young lady named Cage helped me right away made sure to give me the gift of $20 no questions asked, even apologized for the other lady’s mistake. Sweet young lady.
The home made pasta was an excellent surprise. Highly recommend the pasta. However, when we arrived we were told we could wait an hour for a table or sit at the bar despite the dining room being half empty. That was a disappointment as this place is known to be a landmark establishment in Binghampton. To our delight, the barman was very friendly & provided excellent service. The waitresses were very cold & ignored us. Skip the formal dining room and sit at the bar. Youll be happier that you did.
Food is not fresh, the woman who seated us slammed our menus down and greeted us with an attitude and made us feel like we weren’t good enough to be there. Food came out within minutes of ordering and someone with common sense would know it wasn’t fresh if it didn’t take long to come out to us. Both myself and the woman I came in with ended up bagging up our food and throwing it in the trash and the bill was $60 for the two of us. The only pleasant part was our waitress Nicole. She was the only good part besides the cleanliness of the dining area. It to mention when we got there we waited in line and watched the gentleman in front of us have to rehab his own order because they didn’t close his food properly and he spilled food on his clothes. I will never come here again should of went to Olive Garden would of paid the same price with better quality .
Went here based on a co-worker’s recommendation who grew up in the area. When we first entered the restaurant the hostess seemed very friendly. We were asked if we had reservations which seemed a little odd given that they weren’t even at 25% capacity. None the less, we were seated at a table. After about 5 minutes of waiting someone left bread on our table and walked away. Not wanting to eat bread without drinks we patiently waited to be asked our drink order. Another 15 minutes went by and no one ever came by to ask us about drinks. The staff did not seem overwhelmed and there appeared to be plenty of staff, yet none of them seemed to be interested in our table. We finally got the hint after 20 minutes of waiting that, even if our order was taken it was not a good sign of how the rest of our service would be from that point on. Upon exiting the restaurant the host asked us how everything was to which we replied we don’t know because we were never served or asked for our order. We decided to go to Cracker Barrel up the road and we’re seated, given our drinks and food in less time than we waited at Little Venice. Yes, I know Cracker Barrel is not the same food as Italian. However, we had a very pleasant server who acknowledged us from the time we sat down and throughout the entire meal. The locals seem to like this place. Maybe they are treated differently than people passing through.I cannot rate the food as we were never served.
They have incredible staff and super nice...BUT, the meal I ordered wasnt to their usual qualit y . I had dinner there a few months ago and ordered the same thing and it wasnt good then either. The alfredo sauce sperated, tasted watery and it lacked lacked flavor. Disappointing again.
I from Atlanta and I stopped at this restaurant because someone local recommended it. I must say I am not pleased!! That was the nastiest shrimp scampi I’ve ever tasted!! It was definitely over priced. The service was exceptional but I suggest hiring a new cook!! ASAP!!
We dined-in at Little Venice during the Fall 21 Restaurant Week. During the lunch hour, the 3-course diffuser menu was only $12. We got the meat& cheese logs and the soup of the day as appetisers. That was followed by pasta allá vodka and their eggplant parmigiana. Dessert was two tiny cups of delicious chocolate mousse and tiramisu. If theres one thing that little Venice is known for, its the Red sauce. That beautiful sauce on the eggplant parm and fresh, house-made spaghetti was the highlight of our lunch. The rigatoni with the vodka sauce was a let down, bland but very creamy. The soup was passable but the fried logs were good. The sauce that they served with the logs was delicious, it was a pity we didnt hold on to it when the mains arrived. It a very good restaurant, I wouldnt judge them by the restaurant week options. If you go there, order something with their red sauce (preferably their meatballs or parmigiana options).. End youre meal with the tiny tiramisu and an espresso. And buy a bottle of their sauce on your way out.
Cocky waitress young women out her bottom in my husbands face then she got all mad we didn’t call ahead sorry didn’t know we had to rude attitude quit your job if you don’tLike it . 2nd waitress was ok but snippy overall good food but get better waitress with better attitude l
I know this place has a loyal customer base, but the food was absolutely horrible. I ordered the spaghetti & meat logs with a side salad. The pasta was overcooked to the point of being chewy, & the sauce was very bland with no flavor profile. This review may seem harsh, but it is my honest review. If you are charging $16 for a spaghetti dinner, the quality should reflect the price
Staff was slightly rude. My salad was mostly lettuce very unimpressive and the volume of salad wasnt able to be covered by the small cup of dressing I was given. Not impressed. Flashy interior doesnt always mean quality food. Dining room didnt appear to be full even with covid lots of empty tables for dinner time. I would look for better in the area.
Quality has gone down here big time. Used to a fine Italian eatery. One of the best in town. Delicious fresh tomato sauce. Last 2 times Ive gotten take out the orders were messed up. THEY SENT THE FOOD OUT MESSED UP. Got Manicotti that was all burnt on the bottom. Literally black burnt sauce all over the container. Ordered the supreme garlic pizza; they only put peppers and cheese on it which was undercooked by at least 5 minutes. Disgusting. No standards anymore!!
The food was bland, no flavor. The soup... I had no idea why it was made like that. The spaghetti was cooked so terribly, I really dont know how you can mess up spaghetti. We couldnt even finish the food, we ended up throwing it away because we didnt want to feed it to the dogs. The waitress was sooo rude, gave attitude and barely tended to us. (even though we were one of the last people there) I will never go again, or suggest other people do the same.
Went here for Valentines Day as multiple sites listed this as one of the best restaurants in Binghamton. We were seated at a typical pizzeria style table and were given menus but no water. After sitting with the menu for about 15 mins the waitstaff comes to take our order and lets us know theyre out of everything we wanted to order. Also, their menu is different online and the dinner I had planned on ordering wasnt even on the menu. I would have ordered a bottle of wine but I received no wine list. Actually there was no drink menu at all and had to guess if they served beer or not. After spending $60 on cheese, spaghetti and room temperature soup served in a thimble, my date and I couldnt get out of there fast enough. I dont usually go out of my way to leave bad reviews but for you, Little Venice? No problem. I could have had a more romantic Valentines Day dinner at a White Castle, and the food would have been better too.
Great Italian food! Ive been here twice recently, had the eggplant parmigiana and the house ravioli both were phenomenal. The prices were reasonable considering the portions were fairly large. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. Overall a great experience. 5 stars earned.
Save your money. I am super shy and hate sending food back - I got the shrimp scampi and the noodles were like hard mush...if that makes any sense. I am unsure as to how you mess up noodles/pasta of all things. It was disgusting. I didn’t eat a bite and I sent it back - the waitress never questioned as to why I sent it back untouched. The gelato was grainy and the salted Carmel was literally super salty...ew! So much of my money wasted. Upsetting.
I placed an order over the phone at 6:20 pm. I was told 50 to 55 mins. I arrived to the restaurant at 7:15 pm. To my surprise the order was still not ready. I waited 20 mins than asked the waitress the status. She said they are packing my order. So I figured ok 2 mins. No I waited another 25 mins. I finally got my food at 8pm. After waiting so long I was very disappointed with the noodles . I ordered shrimp scampi. The noodles were stuck together as if it was sitting in the strainer for a while.
Not horribly impressed. My wife received multiple recomendations for this place from friends and coworkers so we decided to give it a try. It may be a case of some things they do well and others not so well. Weve bought their red sauce before and enjoyed it so we gave it a shot. I ordered the Alfredo with chicken and was disappointed. The sauce seemed to have already started to separate on arrival and the chicken was tough, the breading also slid right off the chicken and was soggy. My wife had the chicken and was also less than impressed, neither of us finished. We decided to order desert being less than satisfied with the meal. I ordered the cheesecake and she got the tiramisu. I wasnt fond of the cheesecake but it was more of a tart cheesecake and may have been better with the fruit compote and I think its just my preference and other may really enjoy it. My wife however said their tiramisu was on point. All the recommendations we got spoke of the chicken parm or lasagna so maybe if we had ordered one of those our experience would have been better. That being said the bill for our meal was definitely higher than our meals warranted. We will likely give them another chance because of the glowing recommendations we received and next time try something with red sauce. If so I will try to remember to update this review.Update:The morning after our visit I started experiencing horrible abdominal cramping and digestive issues. At this point, Ive been tied to the bathroom for 4hrs and miserable. I plan to avoid this place like the plague going forward.
Pasta is homemade, ambiance reminds me of a little place in Little Italy I used to go too. Service was a bit slow, but she was really nice... They need to hire more wait staff. But no complaints at all... Well definitely be returning! (PS...the meat log is a large meatball shaped like a sausage so it stays moist) and get there early for pizza.
Their food is god awful. I ordered pasta alfredo and the alfredo sauce was basically water with clumps of alfredo cheese in it. I then gave them another chance and ordered a hamburger. The hamburger came back burnt, blackened, and overcooked (I specifically asked for the burger to be cooked MEDIUM). The booths are not sized in any way for people who suffer from obesity. Dont eat here. Eat at Tonys in Endwell instead. This place is god awful.
We were driving through Binghamton and decided to stop here for dinner based on positive reviews we read. To say that I was impressed with the homemade pasta, sauce, and chicken parm would be the understatement of the century. I have looked far and wide for Italian food that is this good and I honestly feel like this could have been my best Italian meal Ive had in my entire life. I dont say that lightly either; I grew up on Long Island, visited NYC a lot, and felt like Ive had the best there was for Italian food.Put it this way: were going to be driving through Binghamton again tomorrow on our way home and I am already thinking about what Ill be ordering tomorrow. The sauce is sweat, rich in flavor, and absolutely delicious. Their in-house meatlogs are just log shaped meatballs that are cooked evenly, tender and are flavorful. Their chicken parm is tender, breaded perfectly, and swimming in their delicious in-house sauce. And enough cant be said for their homemade pasta, which is unmatched. The prices are extremely reasonable (I dare say a bit low, considering that a dinner portion of chicken parm is at least $8 less than I would expect to pay elsewhere), and our family of 4 had more than enough food to eat including dessert for ~$80. THATS a steal!
Just ordered from this place for the FIRST time terrible experience. Lady who took my order RUDE manager RUDE. I ordered 2 meals and got no soup for either to go. Called back and the lady straight out said the soup is complimentary like it wasn’t a big concern to her? I paid almost $50 for just a couple orders of pasta and a kids meal couldn’t even get my soup why would I want to go back to get it will RUDE service. Offered me a can of sauce for the inconvenience I’m not I’m driving 15 min there to fix your mistake I don’t want my money back I wasn’t some responsibility of making sure your customers are happy offer a dessert I work in an Italian restaurant and we give our guest the best dining and to go services.( also meat sauce smells like puke)
Rigatoni was good. So glad it was warm this time!Would give 5 stars, but salad was small.pieces of lettuce(?) with lots of small broken up red cabbage and carrots. I believe I got the end of the salad bag all small bits & pieces! I would have said something to get a differentt salad. However, I did not see my waiter around nor could I find a nearby waiter to ask for mine.
Food is wonderful!!! The waitress was friendly and sweet. BUT the hostess/manager was less than to be desired. To us she couldnt even pretend to be polite. But as we sat and were waiting on our food to others she just piled on the charm. I couldnt figure out what it was we did to warrant such treatment. Hopefully from this review she will consider her treatment of all.
First time we have eaten here and the whole family loved it! The homemade pasta was excellent! Sweet, tomato sauce was just like my grandma used to make! The breaded chicken, ravioli, and alfredo were delicious too! Server made us feel like we were the only people there. It is a great family-owned restaurant and you can tell they put a lot of love into everything they do! Cant wait to go back!!
We were really looking forward to our first dinner inside since everything had closed. Our experience unfortunately was not good at all. Upon arrival our server sat us down and didnt give us her name or offer us any drink menus/waters. We were not informed of any specials of what the soup of the day was or anything like that. Once we asked for a drink menu it wasnt even 2 minutes before she was asking us if we were ready. I exclaimed that we hadnt even had a chance to look over the menu yet. The whole time we felt as if the waitress was trying to flip the table as fast as she could. The food was also not good, very basic and bland, and my dessert order was wrong. The food tasted like it had been re-heated or left out too long. The whole experience left us very dissapointed and wasnt worth the over $70 we paid for it. We wont be coming back.
Amazingly delicious, home-made Italian food. Not only is the food amazing but their portions are outrageous. Appetizer and a main course? Food for tomorrow. This place is great, with table seating for 2 all the way up to approximately 20 or 30 with special rooms hidden away.
Back in the day this place was cozy and had that old school ambiance. The food was great and perfect every time. Since the renovation and the changes, it gotten extremely expensive 15 bucks for spaghetti? The atmosphere is no longer unique and very cookie cutter, luckily they kept all the wonderful oil paintings. Dont get me wrong I still love their food, been eating there since I was a kid. It has just lost its way.
It was good, I wouldnt say its the best Italian food Ive ever had, seemed a little pricey for what you got. Nice waitress! We had never been there but heard great things. I had the homemade spaghetti and meat logs, my cousin had the chicken parmigiana, and he said it was dry. My husband had a salad, he said it was ok the bread was good, but it wasnt warm, which we thought was weird. The garlic knots were good. I imagine they would have good pizza!Would we come back? Im not sure we would... maybe one more time? But not sure.
Great service the waiter was nice and attentive. Very cool guy. But the food was absolutely disgusting and the chef should be fired. I could’ve cooked a better pizza myself. The pizza, a simple margarita pizza, was slathered in disgusting canned sauce that tasted like vomit and the dough so thin it soaked underneath the sauce. It’s really easy for someone with a brain to make a a decent dough to sauce ratio that doesn’t fall apart. In addition, I asked where all the cheese was because the main part of the margarita pizza is the cheese. The waiter says that’s how it’s SUPPOSED TO BE. And then comes back with grated cheese on top. I’m sorry but I’ve had dollar pizza on the side of an NYC street next to a dumpster that is better.Staff is super nice and the interior is nice. The place looks like it would serve good food. But it falls short in every way after you receive the water. Only part that was good was the bread and butter. Barely. No qualms with the staff. Just get a new chef because your service is in FOOD. And simple Italian food may I add.Should’ve went to the Subway up the street.Don’t come here.
We always looked so forward to going to Little Venice. Usually for special occasions. We went on this past Sunday with family and friends. originally it was for 4. the number changed after we met our family members there. A couple of long time friends. We had been seated . when we told the hostess the change oh boy ! attitude for sure because she had to move us. after she seated us at the new table She VERY sarcastically said enjoy!! VERY diasappointed, not the little Venice we are used to (oh by the way my in laws are regulars too. THEN it get more disappointing one of our group asked me What you going to get. I told her oh I always get the fried fish it is delicious. Oh thanks so much I didnt see that so she changed her order (the waitress was fine with the change. Then the meal came when I saw the plate with the fish dinner on it could not believe my eyes . Nope not the regular fresh breaded fillets. it was two pieces of what looked to be like the fish you get in a McDonalds sandwich. certainly not at the McDonalds price. it was eatable BUT CERTAINLY NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE and yes even at a higher price :( really disappointed with the experience. We will give Little Venice a rest for some time in hopes they go back to the usual fried fish dinner and hope the hostess can take some happy pillsKen M
With 5:30PM arrival, the place was quite crowded and the bar, with several seats, quickly filled up. Id say that Italian and Mexican foods are two of my favorite foods and I travel, so I eat out often. But I was disappointed with my visit tonight. My salad was okay, nothing really exciting, but the Italian dressing was flavorful. Some fresh bread was served, but it had a chill to it with only butter to top it. My lasagna looked good and was tasty, but the noodles were mush with no texture. Perhaps another dish would have been a better choice.
The food here is usually great, the pasta is excellent. But, I had a steak last night and it was horrible. It had no juice on it, was severely dry, thin and not very warm. We did complain and they replaced it, but its just not a good steak for 26 dollars. I wont order a steak there again. Stick to pasta and you will have no complaints!
The best Italian food ever. My favorite dish is their manicotti! So incredibly good. I now live out of town. Whenever back in the area, this is a must visit on my to do list. Love that I can buy their sauce and bring it home to enjoy some back home goodness here in Colorado! See you next time Little Venice!
I have gone to Little Venice a few times and was disappointed every time. The sauce is too sweet for my taste and the pasta was overcooked. I had lobster there twice.... it was undercooked both times.... I wont go back.... but thats just my taste and my experience.... maybe other people would have better luck!
I am from out of town. I went recently with my family for a late lunch. I love the looks of the renovation. There were some major changes in things since I was a little girl. The food was decent and nothing really special. I was sad the bread comes cold. We asked for a warm loaf where we were told the bread isnt baked here but the server was willing to microwave it. Where did the charm of warm bread go? The art is great in this place.
Great Italian food, the pasta was truly homemade, the sauce and meatlogs were excellent. I was in town on business travel with coworkers and some of my family in the area recommended Little Venice. We all enjoyed it. Only caveat: it fills fast. We lucked out and were seated immediately.
We were a party of nine and as soon as we walked in we were greeted with attitude. We ordered two family platters for the appetizers and the calamari was over cooked. We asked the waitress for a new one and when she told the chef he told her that’s how calamari is cooked and we would receive the same over cooked calamari again. My cousins got the original chicken parm, it was rubbery, half warm and half cold like it was in the microwave. My mom got fettuccini alfredo and the pasta was rubbery. My father and sister got chicken cutlets and it was over cooked. My roasted potatoes were again over cooked. We were all disappointed with the food and we will never go there again.
I would give a ZERO if I could. Ordered over $100 worth of food and didn’t get all the food I ordered. I called the restaurant and the manager was very rude. I asked for pasta instead of the potatoes and still received potatoes and was told there is nothing she can do about it. After refusing to take no for an answer she said “ if it make you happy I’ll change it for you” with an attitude. They replaced the pasta but I was still missing my garlic knots and mozzarella sticks. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN.
Homemade spaghetti and sauce was delicious, as was the chicken parm. One member in our party ordered mashed potatoes....all of us were shocked they were instant potatoes! YUCK! Real mashed are are so damn easy and a place of that caliber should know better than to try serving instant potatoes. It was restaurant week and the specials were excellent as was our server.
Atmosphere is fun. The food is incredible. We split an appetizer basket and had 2 sodas as a quick meal before a Ponies home game...despite that being a $20 tab in a restaurant that can and frequently does move $150 dinner tabs, we were not rushed to free up the table and the service was exquisite.
Went for a large group gathering, and they were able to accommodate us very well. The servers were very good, they made sure to keep coming back to see if we needed anything else the whole time we were there. They were also able to efficiently get all our orders in and processed quickly. The food was even better than I expected, and the portions ranged from just right, to huge amounts extra that they had no qualms giving us containers to take home the extras. It does appear to become a pretty busy place as the evening goes on, so a reservation is recommended.
Im really shocked by some of the poor reviews. Little Venice is an excellent restaurant with great food and service. The regular sauce is on the sweet side but if this is not your preference tell the server and they have a much less sweet marinara and other alternatives. The meat logs are amazingly good, as is the pasta. They have an extensive wine selection. Servers are attentive and friendly, and despite being downtown parking is easy. Definitely give them a try.
Really appreciate this restaurant, lots of great memories ❤ with my family and friends. LV has been in Binghamton for years and years. Used to feel like family, times have certainly changed for sure! 0h the foods good, even though they have shortened the menu and jacked up the prices. Guessing that must be the covid pandemics doing. People just arent going out to eat. LV will always have a place in my ❤ 🤍 💙. I will keep going back for my ravioli...it is the best!Suzanne Furney
Atmosphere was terrific and service good but food was brutal. Who runs out of pizza dough at 6 pm on a Friday. Homemade pasta was extremely pasty. 1/2 soda products not available. Oh and gelato is not supposed to be runny. I eat out often and all over New York State and I have never been so dissatisfied that I felt I needed to write a review.
I have been to The Little Venice years ago and it was barely so-so.... I went today for my wifes birthday (her choice) I was truly AMAZED at the difference. It is beautiful inside and the food was much better, everything is homemade secret recipes, and I couldnt be more happy about it. I will definitely be back again very soon.....
The service was outstanding. The manicotti was excellent. The chicken fettuccine alfredo was horrible. The pasta was clumpy and not cooked quite enough. Not nearly enough sauce and not very creamy. Would not get that dish again. Other than that, a very pleasant experience.
Seeing the sign saying how long the restaurant had been in Binghamton, I figured it was worth a try. I ordered eggplant parmigiana, a salad, and steamed broccoli. Salad was iceberg with some odd pickled things on it, not appealing or appetizing, and blue cheese is only available as an additional charge ( Why?). Strike one. Steamed broccoli, fresh, well steamed, no seasoning whatsoever, probably best part of my meal. Eggplant was not fresh, was very stringy, hard to cut/eat. Disappointing. Their sauce is good, as was the bread on the table. I feel this is a restaurant that has a reputation and rest on that, instead of continuing to offer their very best.
Of all the great Italian places in the area, I think this one is the all around best. The sauce, the homemade pasta, wine on tap, pizza egg rolls, fantastic chicken cutlets...all around just a great place to eat. I always joke they have a little sweat shop of Italian grandmas in the basement cranking out homemade sauce and pasta lol, like that scene from Happy Gilmore with Ben Stiller in the nursing home. However they get it done, I dont care cause it is delicious!
Take out tonight. Less than average. Nothing exciting. Just got a full order of Rigatoni with red house sauce and a side of the meat logs. The sauce is way too sweet for my liking. I think a bit pricey for what you get. Also, I got a connoli and that was the only dessert you can buy for take out. They have other desserts if you eat in, which I do not quite understand that reasoning. I asked the bartender who was serving the dine in desserts and she said she did not know, she was not the owner. I had to return because they did not give me any plastic ware or butter! I think that is pretty poor customer service for what you are paying for. I have to go back and ask for it??Not going back.
If you enjoy a really good red sauce and a variety of homemade pasta dishes, this is the place to go, for sure. Their amazing sauce is thick and sweet and unlike anything I have had anywhere else. I find myself craving it a few times a year. Their homemade spaghetti, linguini, lasagna, ravioli, manicotti, etc are exceptionally good. This is the only restaurant I can think of where Id be content ordering just spaghetti. The meat logs are an interesting and very well done interpretation of the meatball. Their soups are also very good. That being said, this is not a seafood or steak specialty kind of Italian restaurant. If you are not intending on getting something with red sauce, I would go somewhere else. Thats not to say the non red sauce items are no good, just not what they do best. I have tried different things like shrimp scampi, and always end up a little disappointed and wishing I had ordered the pasta lovers meal. I think the pasta is surprisingly good enough to earn them 5 stars just for that.
From years ago when the Carulli family was in charge, up to this day, the best Neapolitan fare locally. Clearly poshest, warm atmosphere, paintings on the walls, menu, wine, and dessert presentation and selection are primo..Take my word for it: Va bene e va Picola Venezia. Cordiale Saluti, Lorenzo -
Weve been going to Little Venice for years and Ive never had a bad experience. I love their Alfredo sauce and ravioli while my husband swears by their chicken parmesan and the classic meat logs. Their pasta is homemade and therefore thicker than what the average person is used to, but its very tasty.
We dine here a lot. The food is always good and consistent. The staff is friendly and helpful. Their sauce is unique, unlike any other pasta sauce Ive had. Its a must try. The restaurant has a a nice bar area in the front and traditional dinner seating in the back. They also have 2 nice size banquet rooms that probably fit around 20 people. You can order take out and they cater. A must try if you are in the Binghamton area looking for a good meal.
Very surprised about our experience. Although the food tasted good it felt like a high school cafeteria. No presentation, none at all. I am not so concerned about presentation but we basically got a chicken patty (great taste) slapped on a bun and a bowl of pasta smothered in sauce. The quantities were way too small and price was not consistent with amounts. I have been to a number of places like this and can tell it is basically a local favorite that has brand loyalty but not the real deal when it comes to price, quality and overall experience. Way better places for the Italian lover/foodie.
It was good...a nice Italian resturant. The atmosphere is beautiful with old paintings and stained glass. The wait staff is professional. The food was good...but not exciting or anything new--just good Italian food. Getting in and out is a littel tricky. My parents didnt really like their meal.
The soup was supposed to be a chicken noodle of some kind, it ended up being a slightly chicken flavored broth water with over cooked mini bow tie pasta. The pasta was so over cooked, it was disintegrating in my mouth. The pasta however, I had the fettuccine Alfredo with mushrooms, and it was delicious! The Alfredo sauce was the richest and so full of flavor, it was the best Ive had to date.
Based upon my first and hopefully last experience at Little Venice I feel they put more effort into the art selection upon their walls than they do into their food and service. Plates remained at the table for the entirety of my meal, including a bread plate that stayed by my side long after the bread was gone and the bill was being paid. I ordered their eggplant parmigiana, in spots it was fork tender, in others the butter knife I was given was not enough to cut into what should have been soft white flesh. The breading was mush and colorless. And the cheese was barely melted. I could not tell if their sauce was naturally wet and loose. But their side of spaghetti had a moat of water in the bottom and the main course was rimmed with an orange oily mess. Even their salad tasted like it came straight from the bag into a bowl with jarred peppers set atop it. I am not impressed.
The most unauthentic Italian food I’ve ever had. Their signature chicken parmigiana was two microwaved cigar shaped nuggets that were dry as dust. The homemade pasta may well have been homemade, but definitely not that day or even week. It was served with a minuscule amount of sauce that made it taste pasty. Even the bread was store bought and bland. They sell their “own products” such as jarred sauce and pepper flakes. Save your $$$.
Havent been here in years. Not for any particular reason. But man oh man now that weve rediscovered Little Venice we will be coming to or ordering from the fantastic Italian Restaurant quite often. Their meat logs are yu-uh-um-MY!!! And who knew Meat Log Egg Rolls were even a thing... well they are and they are a really great appetizer but you need to share because the portion size is huge. Havent been disappointed yet!
The food was so terrible! The Hamburger was very soft, and it tasted really wierd. My brother got the fettuccini Alfredo, and he said that the mushrooms were slimy and store bought. I got the garlic bread appetizer, the bread was soft and was filled with garlic juice, also the cheese on that was a little bland and it kept falling off of the bread.
Im not originally from this area, but I have always heard the Little Venice was wonderful fixture in the city of Binghamton. I have now lived here for more than six years, and I can tell you I wouldnt know what I would do without my meat logs and my homemade raviolis from Little Venice they are my fav. Oh wait I have another, their eggplant is absolutely out of this world always fresh never soggy. If you cant find something good Italian at this restaurant then you dont know Italian food! Our lunch 4 birthday celebration was as always excellent. The ladies and gentlemen we were running the show at lunch time really know how to get you in did she fed well and get you back to work in time. Quality is never sacrificed over-service but their service is excellent.
Definitely gone down hill. Started going to LV 20 years ago and can say along with remodel there is a level of arrogance about the food and service being so great that they dont have to do much to impress. Not true! Our service last night was probably the worst in my life. They have tons of staff but its difficult to actually get help. For the sake of time Ill just sum up; homemade pasta is cheaper and more enjoyable if you just purchase a pasta machine and stay in. You cant run a business based on history, youre only as great as your last guests experience and this guest say no bueno!
I took calamari slightly breaded; they were heavily breaded.I took a margherita pizza; the crust was tasteless, the tomato sauce was sweet (awful) and there was far too much of it. The mozzarella was cut in strips, it was not a lot (and is not a problem if the rest is good) but it was drowning inside the sauce because it was too much.Little Venice has been very disappointing for even these simple dishes...As Italian, I always hope that something of Italian is remained in a place that claims its Italian origins, but as a lot of time has already happened, this place is Italian only in the name.Ah, and of course it was too expensive for what I took seen the quality.
If I could give this zero stars I would. My boyfriend and I have been to many restaurants together and this has to be the worst overall experience.Upon entering the establishment we are blown in the face by a very loud machine, from there we were ignored for a solid five minutes before someone barked at us to travel to the back of the restaurant and find a host.Once we get to dining room we are forced to wait for three hosts to stop arguing with each other before we are told again to find a host and sit down. We awkwardly stood at the cash register until somebody sat us. The waitress dropped the menus onto the floor next to the adjacent table and then looked at us while we picked them up.Were served cold Italian bread and butter packets. You would think that an Italian restaurant would provide olive oil. After ordering the margarita pizza and the meat-log sandwich (with cheese and french fries) we began to think that maybe the food would make up for the lousy service. The atmosphere was certainly nice. Our food took a while to come out and once it was served there was barely any cheese on the pizza and it was missing basil. They forgot to provide plates and once they did they brought us dirty ones. Not once did the waitress check up on us. The meat-log sandwich did not have cheese on it and the serving of french fries was meager at best. When we asked them to add cheese to the sandwich they slapped on a thin slice of mozzarella and stole away the bread from half the sandwich. Their sauce is way too sweet and everything is overpriced. We were very excited to be going to this restaurant, but we will never come back again. I love to eat and I have never been this pissed off with food in front of me.
Without question one of the best Italian restaurants Ive ever been to! It had been a very long time since Id been there (Im from out of town). Went with a fairly large group (including 3 children) and everything was on point! Anytime Im back in the area I will be returning!
This was one of my favorite Italian eaterys. However my past few visits have been a little disappointing. I felt rushed while eating, the portions seem to have gotten smaller, they are charging for extras (if you dont get Italian dressing, there is an added charge), and the prices of the dishes are high. I liked the homestyle Italian cooking, and the value.... however it is not that anymore. I will splurge once in a while when I am craving their sauce, and continue to love their recipes... however the prices and pushy service have turned me away from being a weekly or a few times per month customer.
I have to be honest, it was not good Italian food. I am fairly certain they put brown sugar in their red sauce, which is enough to make any Italian grandmother cringe. The veal I had was extremely tough and over cooked. If you are looking for a meal to fill you up at a good price then this is it. If you want to experience real Italian cuisine, save your money.
As I went to Little Venice for the first time i had my hopes that there would be good food here and that I wouldnt have to wait very long. But as i was waiting the time slowly drew to over an hour. that was when the waitress told my family and i our food was not even close to being done yet. She said that some of the meals were under a heat lamp. My family wasnt to happy with that so we just decided to leave after hearing that. The waitress wasnt the problem but the cooks were. We tipped the waitress and just left deciding to never go to Little Venice ever again.
Food was good but not exceptional. White staff forgot to return my credit card with a final bill which ended with me having to return to the West Restaurant two hours later. When the return credit card no Im sorry basically blamed her mistake on me to an extent. Popular spot but watch your check.
Stopped by this place on my cross-country drive home for the holidays.Decor & atmosphere was good. Split pea soup was fine. Bread was supermarket quality -dry, tasteless, no substance.Ordered shrimp scampi, but it was utterly terrible. Shrimp was stinky, and home-made noodles were just a mushy, sloppy, soggy, mess (confirmed by other reviews below). The whole dish was drenched in olive oil (the dish literally came in a pool of oil). The seasoned garlic supposed to be the dishs flavoring wasnt nearly enough and the mass of tasteless, soggy noodles were too much to eat.Asked the waitress for an exchange. She was busy and I was alone so overall service and attentiveness was subpar. Got baked scallops instead. It was like $25 for six little pieces of overcooked scallops that were again, stinky. I did finish the dish because this one was edible. The side of broccoli was cooked appropriately (i.e. not over-boiled), but they certainly could do better than 3 little pieces of broccoli on the side for such an expensive dish. They charged me full price for the exchanged dish. I left a 20%+ tip because I used to wait tables and it wasnt the waitress fault, but I wont be returning to this establishment. Simply terrible food for way too much expense. The food overall, might be acceptable at a third of the cost.I love to support local businesses rather than chains and make it a point to support them. However, private businesses need to up their game to keep people like myself investing in them. From what I saw, their head chef needs to re-assess their quality urgently.
Pros: Great service and friendly. Large menus and lots of options.Cons: Undercooked very doughy pizza with lots of grease on the cheese. Likely fake cheese.Salmon had white film like it was previously bagged frozen. Well cooked salmon though and somehow made flavorful with lots of garlic.Chicken Pizzatoria was bland and dry.Cant recommend, clearly not trying in the kitchen.
The service was excellent for a large party of 22. The room was private which allowed us to be comfortable visiting without interrupting other guests. However, thats where it ends...we ordered a $16 shrimp scampi and once placed in front of us had a mere 6 shrimp and the pasta was mushy. The veal parm was chewy. The kids cheeseburger were served on two slices of bread. For the cost of the food, the quality is significantly lacking!!!
Since the first visit to Little Venice, I try to make this restaurant part of my plans when in the area. The staff, including the owner, is extremely nice and personable. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is fabulous. Its also NOT a chain restaurant which gives it another reason to go. Little Venice has been around for decades and is a staple in the Broome County area.
Food was very good. Huge portions, however you can get half orders. The food was delicious and very filling. The wait staff was very pleasant. However, it was a Wednesday afternoon at 4 and we didnt make reservations and the host was not that friendly, she asked if we had reservations and we said no AMD she informed us they were very busy, but no tables were filled. When we left at 5 the tablea were still empty, but overall a great experience.
How a place like that can be full of people? Our food was disgusting. I ordered a 9 oz steak for $30. You could tell it was frozen, defrosted and then frozen again. No taste, and a weird texture. Also you could tell the pasta sits in the fridge (for who knows how long) and then is warmed in a microwave. It was sticky and stuck together. Kinda reminded me of old chinese noodles. Also it arrived cold. It was funny because when the waitress arrived with the food she said watch out its very hot. Luckily they refunded me for the steak which shows me they knew it wasnt a good product. Its a shame because this place is a scam. I have been to Venice and nasty meat logs dont exist there.
I have little negative to say. I will say the side salad was almost entirely iceberg lettuce with two little peppers and three thin strips of what appeared to be sauteed bell pepper. The bread was clearly baked fresh and delicious. My main course was fettuccini Alfredo. It was the best Alfredo sauce Ive tasted in years. The fettuccini itself was a bit of heaven and was perfectly cooked. The serving was plenty for three people, and I was saddened I have no ability to store the excess for the next day.Dont go for the house salad, but do go for the main dishes. If I ever return to Binghamton, this will be part of my itinerary. Someone really knows how to cook Italian.
Food was good for a red sauce joint in upstate NY. Living in the NYC area ,I set the bar high for Italian . Really nothing special, bread was just plain, not warmed. Tasted more like white bread. Soda was completely flat, no carbonation at all. Caprese salad was ok .tomatoes were bland. I would expect better tomatoes in the summer. Chicken parm was nothing special and fresh pasta tasted the same as any other. Service was good
Very poor service, soup tastes like it’s from a can and salad was equivalent to my high school cafeteria. I ordered the Pasta with Meat Sauce after passing up the enticing “Meat Logs”. Noodles were chewy and almost stale while the meat sauce was bitter and tasteless.
First time here. The menu is HUGE! I ordered the classic chicken parmagiana with a side of pasta. The flavor was exceptional. However, the chicken was very dry, a little overcooked. The bread they bring out as an appetizer was good, but the butter was HARD, couldnt even spread it on the bread.
Very Average. Its too bad because the place is cute inside but the food was nothing special and the serice even less so. Pasta was overcooked, dinner was served cold, server couldnt answer basic questions about the menu. And while we couldnt get her to clear our dishes after dinner, she couldnt wait snatch up our bill after we had paid. Also didnt appreciate her leaning over my food instead of going behind me put other dishes on the table.
People not from the area should definitely seek out Little Venice and get spaghetti. The sauce is unique to little venice only! They also serve gelatto which is tasty and have a full bar.My favorite part however is the beautiful collection of art. They can host large parties
Little Venice is one of our favorites, the homemade pasta and meatlogs are awesome. The menu has numerous choices ranging from pasta, to steaks to fish. The staff always makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in until the moment you walk out. The portions are large and well prepared. The sauce is key to a good pasta meal and theirs is certainly one of the best around. We dine here often as they are accommodating of large groups, accept reservations, deliver food quickly (but never rush you to finish). Our favorites are chicken cutlet parmigiana, ravioli, meat log egg rolls, chicken caccitore, scallops and of course the homemade spaghetti and meat logs. Be sure to save room for gelato or one of their mini deserts. If you have not been here you must visit.

2022-05-24The balsamic reduction on my half of pizza added tons of flavor and complimented the chicken slices. Very friendly staff! Nice evening to eat outdoors. Loved the building history - Moog Synthesizers

2022-04-19A very decent place for an Italian bite in Binghamton. We had a late Sunday lunch recently and there wasn’t a wait. Nice wine list. Service was slightly slow but it also looked like the waitress was swamped with tables. Food was good - just wish they heated the bread in the basket. Got gelato to go and it was delightful

2021-09-26We went for an early lunch, The ambient and service was really great. The food portion was very generous with the complimentary bread and butter. I cant say its very delicious since the tomato sauce was covering the Italian spices of the dishe.

2022-04-26I, was super impressed with Little Venice. I remember not feeling that way the last time I ate there but that was probably a decade ago.The atmosphere was great, it felt like we stepped back in time and got to visit a very classic, prototypical Italian restaurant that you see so often in movies. The food was absolutely delicious. My salmon was cooked perfectly and my daughter almost finished that giant bowl of rigatoni 🍝Our server was fantastic and all of the employees treated my daughter like a little princess (I was able to let them know it was her birthday when I made the reservation 😁), they even brought her out ice cream with a candle and sang Happy Birthday to her.It was a great night and a great experience. I highly recommend Little Venice. We both had a great time. Liliana said she wants to have her birthday dinner there, every year from now on. Of course I told her we can absolutely do that.

2022-02-14Went for a last minute meal before catching a bus and was so pleased with how kind and accommodating the staff was! I was feeling a bit pressed for time to catch the bus while we were waiting for our waiter to come back so another lady came to help us even though she had already finished up her last table. She was outstanding and made sure we had takeout boxes and the bill in a timely manner. The food was also delicious, I got ravioli with red sauce.

2022-01-08This is an absolutely magical restaurant! The food is spectacular. Homemade pasta, incredible. The staff was really welcoming. Its beautiful! Spotless. The art is amazing, I would have gone just to look at the paintings. And it was reasonably priced and very comfortable. If I could give it 100 stars I would!! I wish it was closer to my house, Id be there all the time. It is now my favorite restaurant.

2021-09-20Super Italian Restaurant! Their tasty sauce is THE BEST! Every time we visit family in the Binghamton area, we make it a point to eat here. I had the Lasagna, could only eat half. The other half was the next nights dinner. Even better the 2nd time round. 😁

2022-04-16Our food was barely warm when served. The chicken for the parmigiana tasted like it was cooked the day before, which I don’t get — all you have to do is fry it to order. The famous sauce was just sweet and lacked flavor. I get it if you’ve been going to this place since you were a kid, but for someone expecting some tasty red sauce Italian it was a disappointment.
