Lobo in other cities:
I am very dissatisfied and not returning. The food was just OK, the waiter were wonderful but what bothered me was the bill. At most restaurants hot sauce and other sauces are left out, here when I asked for some sources I was billed, when I asked for 2 different types of chicken on my order i was billed and when I questioned them I was ignored. I am not happy with my experience and will not be returning.
The best Tex Mex I’ve ever had. Cash only but absolutely worth it. I used to live down the block and regret not going there as often as possible. I often go back because in addition to the food they make awesome drinks. Possibly best chips and salsa I’ve ever had. Treat yourself to this amazing spot in one of the best parts of Brooklyn.
Maybe its just nostalgia, but Lobo is one of the best Tex-Mex restaurants Ive ever been to. The service is great, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is just right. It isnt fancy or mind-blowing, but if youre looking for a casual place to have dinner with friends or family, this is the place to go.
Excellent cocktails, but my wife sent back the fish taco because the fish had gone bad. It really soured the experience of a fun atmosphere near the Cobble Hill movie theater. Cash only, by the way, and a longish wait on a Saturday night. My food, a beef burrito, was fine--but a very large portion. Would I come back? Maybe not.
Definitely a solid choice for lunch, as I enjoyed my shrimp salad, but I did not like their guacamole at all, and the flavored margaritas were just too sweet for me (I know, its a preference thing). For my second margarita, I chose the original, and enjoyed that much more.
Im giving this place 5 stars because I think it succeeds in what it does. Its a low-priced casual Tex-Mex restaurant. There is better Tex-Mex in the world, but for the neighborhood its in, it works. The atmosphere is great and sometimes you just need chips and salsa with your meal. Also, they play really good music (according to me), so its very pleasant to go into a place that doesnt make a huge deal about itself and just strives to be a relaxing place to get some enchiladas and drink a marg. Being from Texas, the food here isnt blowing my mind, but its good enough and the feel of the place is right.
Cant say enough good things about this place; there really arent any other good Tex-Mex places in Brooklyn (this end of Brooklyn, at least). The place is very spacious (second floor is huge and theres an outdoor garden), the margaritas are delicious, and the food always comes out in huge portions — a welcome relief given that surrounding restaurants charge the same price but give you half the portion.I usually come in towards the end of the week and hang out at the bar which is really an excellent centerpiece when you walk in: a great, big wooden bar with the Texas longhorn hanging in the middle of it. They have only one TV in the place (at the end of the bar) as far as I know, but the bartenders are nice enough to put on any game you want, so thats a big plus. Its just a friendly, welcoming place I cant think of any downside to this place. Although, one reviewer said that they were disappointed that the cash-only mandate wasnt stated more specifically upfront and, on that one point, I can commiserate; I was a bit surprised when I first learned that, as well. It COULD be in larger print on the menu or, perhaps, on the door when you walk in, but, hey, not a big deal.
Worst mexican food I have ever had. Friends and I ordered so many different dishes and not one was satisfactory. actually the Steak tacos were ok. Guac is weak, quesadillas are filled with Velveta. I didnt have a margarita but if you drink a few of those, which are supposedly good, then sure, the food might seem fine.
Nice place for a cozy date. I had the bama, which was delish. Drinks were good as well. They sell margaritas in a giant glass (think texas big). A little bit on the pricey side, my only gripe was they accepted cash only. Restaurants still do that??? Overall, the atmosphere was great.
Service 1 star food quality and taste 3.5 stars. They need to get a system together because everything right now is confusing. Cash only... order at the front... figure somehow out that its self seating... the owner should invest into a food truck instead of a restaurant.
Eh, Im a little disappointed that I was disappointed in this place. Was really craving queso and, after reading some decent reviews, queso was the first thing I saw on their menu. So, my boyfriend and I gave it a try. The queso was good, not mind-blowing good, but good enough. The salsa had a nice bite to it and the chips were fresh. But, I ordered the carne guisada tacos. In a normal case, theres a ton of flavor in this dish, but it was majorly lacking. The meat was good and tender but there was just zero flavor. My boyfriend had the pulled pork burrito and said the same - it just needed more flavor and spice.Went to pay and found out they only accept cash... but they have an ATM upstairs. Of course they do. I get that some places do this, but for a sit down place I expect to see somewhere before ordering that its cash only. Guess if they told you then theyd lose a lot of business soooo, it is what it is.All in all, Im not pressed to come back here but Im glad I tried it, it was good service and decent queso.
OMG! My 👍 go to fave place. I think everyone in my circle of friends and family has been dragged there by me. I started in 1997 when I moved to Brooklyn, and have been going ever since...20 years. I even had a major birthday there. Big kudos to them as restaurants in New York sprout (and wither!) all the time. The food is always great...and generous. The margaritas are rumored to be the best around. Im the oddball Martini drinker---If my Martini is any indication of the overall drink scrumptious-ness, then the margaritas must be amazing!
Tex Mexico is everywhere in the continental United States. But in Brooklyn it takes on a more advanced flavor profile then most other burrito dens. The flavor of fresh limes cilantro and chilis are complements to the char grilled meats that accompany your dish if you choose. The smartly laid out fare is easy on the eye and plentiful. The staff is well tuned to guide you towards a good meal. The drinks will not disappoint either. Try one of their famous Cadillac to wash down the freshly fried chips brought to every table.
We wandered into Lobo for brunch. Standard brunch with a TexMex flair. The only disappointment came from the biscuits and gravy. These came with a small dollop of gravy on top which tasted mostly canned. I usually expect these swimming in gravy and tasting a little more home made.
This was the worst version of Mexican food I have ever had. My friends and I ordered a variety of food and these were the results: The chicken tinga tacos is an overwhelming pile of bland chicken. The guac lacked any flavor. The quesadillas were filled with Velveta? And the mac and cheese could have been prepared by a 3 year old. Saving grace is that the staff is pleasant and maybe the steak tacos. But I have no idea why this place is at all popular.
Looks divey from the outside but inside is a pleasant dose of Tex Mex kitschiness that fits right in for Brooklyn brunch spots, particularly the 2nd floor which I didnt even know existed. Staple ingredients served up many ways and in good portion. Was able to walk away with leftovers and a happy stomach. Unfortunately didnt get to try the tequila or any of the mixed drinks which seem to be the star of this place but I wouldnt doubt the care the staff puts into making their drinks as their service was albeit a bit slow since we came near closing time but very friendly. Just be warned, its a CASH ONLY place.
Of all the places I miss from my 11 years in NYC....I miss Lobo the most. Just started working remotely for a company that is in NYC and have had the pleasure to visit regularly again. It is still just amazing. Best Margaritas ever! Nothing compares in or out of this city.
Greattttt food. Great drinks. Great people. Loved it here. I love food and this place is it. The drinks were strong and cheap. All I eat was chicken, I got the fried chicken. The gravy was great. Tasted good with mashed potatoes, chicken and greens. Friendly people always making sure we were ok. Ill be back.

2022-07-07Great infused margaritas and bean/queso dip. Chicken in the mole enchiladas was a little dry and the portobello chimichangas were just alright. Would prefer they be served with rice and beans rather than a bland salad. Would return for the queso and margaritas.

2022-06-27They were very helpful, gave me recommendations and prepared something to personalized to me. I didn’t have bloody Mary’s but saw a lot of people ordering one and my friend told me they’re pretty good. I’d come back to try more dishes.

2018-01-11First time in this restaurant. It has a very cozy ambient. Waiters dont bother. Today they had the Margarita Happy Hour and its pretty much the best ones ive had so far. The bartender definitely knows how to mix it up the right way. For plates I ordered The Wolf, Pollo Borracho and chilli with cheese and chips. I thought it would be around 100.00 for this dinner and was way much less than expected plus tip. The food was perfect and it seems the chef was working hard to bring the food with the highest standards possible.Highly recommended for groups, couples and even family.

2018-05-15The only Mexican spot in NYC I’ve found that brings you chips and salsa without you asking (for free!). Food was great and service was fast. $15 or so per plate.Only downside is it’s cash only.I’ll be back for sure.

2016-09-06The place has nice decor, really cozy. Outside patio area as well, which is a plus. Got greeted by the hostess and bartender as soon as I walked in. Although, the waiters were sitting at a table on their phones half the time. Drinks were given to us right away, Texas Tea was tasty. Appetizer came almost instantly. Chicken quesadilla was great. I order the enchilada and two taco combo. It was good but my chicken tacos had hidden bones in them. The refried beans were very obviously spoiled and smelled rotten. The waitress just believed I didnt like them. Hopefully no one else ordered them! I would have much rather been offered another side dish, rather than just getting a side plate to scoop off the beans myself. And still having rotten remnants on my plate.
