Went on a champagne cruise following my nieces wedding. The boat only went through 2 locks, turned around, then back through the locks, so there was no narrative. But it made for a unique bonus in lieu of the typical reception line and handshakes.Sound system used by the DJ for the reception was a bit over-cranked. Made it difficult to understand the speeches by the party. Also maybe because there was a lot of echo in the hall, who knows.
This was the most amazing tour! I am so glad we went on it, and will never forget it. Our guide knew so much and presented it in such a way that it wasnt overwhelming. I cant think of another tour Ive been on where it cost so little and was such fun and we learned so much. I would gladly go back every time were in the vicinity. I mean, folks, this is THE ERIE CANAL. You know, the one with the song and all that.
Everything was fine me and my mom and her client along with a service dog in training that I’m training for my sister got on everything was fine then in the middle of the ride my mom saw a dog in a dog over the shoulder sling and then after the ride I go to the gift shop and talk to hidy and try to inform her about the law and handed her law cards for which she takes the law cards and ignored every word that came out of my mouth needless to say I will not be coming back because it is not right to be rude to anyone even more so a disabled person that’s trying to inform you on what the law is.
The Murphy’s have a great thing going here! Four generations know this iconic American treasure like no one else. Great people. I wrote them and actually called me back to make sure I understood the details as we would be driving there from Buffalo. Awesome cruise. Awesome history lesson. Almost two hours but not a dull moment with the oftentimes hilarious commentary from the captain. Don’t miss it.
This was afun trip as well as educational. I already knew a bit about the Erie Canal, and locks, but our boat Captain was very informative and I learned some facts that I never even had an idea about. The boat traverses locks 34 and 35 then on a ways further then turns around and back through the locks and further on under 2 drawbridges, then back to the dock. All in all it was about 2 hrs.
This was the last activity of a vacation to Niagara Falls. What a great way to wrap up a trip!! This is a leisurely 2 hour cruise in the Erie Canal. The captain narrated with a history of the canal and its construction. We got to go through 2 locks which was amazing. The cost is reasonable ($18 with AAA discount), there are snacks and drinks available (again reasonably priced), passengers are permitted to move from the bottom to the top level of the boat. We walked through the event area on the dock and it is beautifully decorated for a wedding or other event. Overall, this is a delightful experience - dont hesitate to take this cruise!!
Such a cool experience! I would say under the age of 5 might not have the best time, but definitely a great and affordable family outing. The Capitan is very informative and funny while running a very efficient crew. If I have any excuse to go back near here, I would go again.
I went here with a group to see locks as a fun thing to do before we went on some wine tastings. I didnt know what to expect in this and I was surprised at how much fun this was.We got to ride through the locks, which honestly I didnt expect. The Captain of the boat explained how everything works during the process in a very fun and entertaining way. I was amazed at how fast that water flows into the locks. We rode the canal for a while and they played a few songs, including that 15 miles on the Erie Canal song then we turned around and went back down the locks again. At this point I thought the ride was done, but no! We went down stream and went under the bridges that raise up for boats and got to see some beautiful houses and a church made from the stones that were removed to make the canal.I highly recommend this ride to anyone who can spend a few hours on it. Its worth more than they charge for the experience.
Lockport was very nice, except. Google had listed that the boat ride was open. We drove 5 hours to get there and it was closed. While we sat in the parking lot, we checked our phones. It said it was open. We walked around, in about 20 minutes we were done. We will not return to Lockport.
First time visiting this place, and all I have to say is AWSOME!! If you like a nice little boat ride (1hr. 45 mins.) And learn a little history this is it. I highly recommend for the whole family. Small restroom and snacks and drinks on the boat as well as at the shop.
My son wanted to go on the erie canal cruise for his 12th BIRTHDAY. Its a 2 hour cruise. Its beautiful and an amazing part of History! Its good for a date, family outing or to just enjoy the history of western new york! The also have a party boat if u want to have a party. Also there is the lockport caves u can take a boat ride in a cave that also includes zip lining! So, u can make it a whole day event!
We had our wedding here during the time of Covid. They worked with us to take care of everything we needed. They seamlessly moved the event outdoors and really made it so I did not have to stress about anything. They took thorough precautions about food handling and the bars all had sneeze guards that looked elegant so it did not look out of place at our wedding. I would 1000x recommend this as a beautiful wedding spot. The food was delicious and they are professionals!! Thank you so much to Mike and his team for allowing me to have to wedding of my dreams even in a time like today where I thought that could not be possible.
Captain Roger was an amazing and experienced host to our canal ride. We had an amazing time on the boat, well worth the money! Fun for all ages. Was highly impressed with his boat driving skills. He was able to keep all of us entertained while driving the boat, playing music, and telling lots of history about the canals and locks. 10/10 would recommend for a family activity.
Ive been on this boat ride before a few years ago. I enjoyed it! Today I went with several residents from a nursing home where I volunteer. The three men working on the boat were so accommodating to the needs of the residents, especially since all but one were in wheelchairs. Id also like to give a shout out to the three out of town tourists who helped wheel the residents on and off the boat! The whole ride was wonderful and informative! It was a beautiful day, making the entire experience even better. I would highly recommend going on the trip!
Visited Lockport with my scout troop. We took a tour of the caves & learned some pretty cool information that I didnt know about Lockport and the canal. Got to watch 3 boats go through the lock system while we ate lunch. Will probably return with my wife for a day trip to Lockport this summer.
Toured on 9/4/2018. A relaxing, informative and pleasant tour. Snacks and drinks plus a restroom was available. The tour guide (John) did a nice job explaining about the canal and its history and was easy to hear. They only small improvement could be to offer seat pads. We took the smallest boat but was reasonably easy to board even for someone with some mobility issues. All staff were attentive and helpful. Highly recommend this tour of youre in the area.
This was far more fun than I thought it would be. The captain was very informative in his explanations of how the camel was made. The ride was very fun. Going through the locks was enjoyable and really fun.Everyone on the boat was friendly and enjoyed the trip and we all had a really good time. Meet some new friends and had good conversations.
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. It was so cool! The tour guide gave us a very comprehensive history of the area, while also being very personable. The first maybe half mile of the tour was walking--a fact that was a disappointment to some of the other people in our group. The cave in and of itself was very interesting. We walked down part of it, and then there was a boat ride at the end. A really wonderful experience overall :)
We did this ride with an organization called Operation C.O.M. and we enjoyed it so much. My 4 children and my husband and never been on so it was interesting for them all. My only complaint was we couldnt hear what the captain was saying on the loud speaker (it wasnt that loud). So we missed out on the history portion of the tour. But I got some pretty great photos!
My husband Chris and I got married last October at the Lockport Locks, and cannot express enough how absolutely wonderful our entire experience was with this venue. Mike was so patient and helpful, especially considering that we live in Alabama and were planning our wedding from afar. He was always flexible in communicating with us, and working around the times that we were in town. On the day of our wedding, everything was absolutely perfect! They made sure everything went to plan, and that everything was taken care of for us. We opted to take the boat ride, and to have our ceremony at the venue. Everything went great! Our guests are still talking about how unique of an experience it was, and how much fun they had. The food was amazing, and the staff was so attentive and polite! I cannot say enough good things about this venue, or our experience working with them. Thank you so much, Mike, for all of your help and support for Chris and I as we planned our wedding, and for helping to make our day more wonderful than we ever could have imagined. October 7th, 2017 will be one of our fondest memories for the rest of our lives.
Great afternoon cruise. Nice crew and very informative. Cruise last around an hour and forty five minutes and you go through 2 locks and down the canal for a bit. The boat turns around and you go back through the locks again. Snack bar and bar on the boat, very friendly staff. Interesting day.
We had our wedding here in June 2016 and would recommend it to anyone. We were married outdoors and the area was beautiful with colorful flowers and a waterfall. The area was quiet and everyone could hear our wedding vows without a problem because Canalside supplied microphones. There wasnt any boat traffic at all. Everyone loved the boat ride for cocktail hour and this made it very unique for all of us. The reception was indoors and it was very nicely decorated with white tableclothes and white chairs to match. It looked very nice. We were supposed to be done at 11pm but ran over until about 11:30. We never felt rushed or hurried. The coordinators were helpful every step of the way. If you want a unique wedding at a beautiful place, go here! Highly recommended.
Absolutely awful from the start. We put down a deposit for our wedding and left with nothing in writing, not even so much as a handwritten receipt. We were told a contract would be mailed to us which we did not receive. When I called to get something in writing I was first told we never paid the deposit, then I was told my wedding was not a priority to them. This was followed by months of phone calls and emails with no response. When I finally received my contract, it was incorrect and I had to call multiple times to get a corrected copy sent to me. The complete lack of customer service and communication led us to find a different venue which was the best decision we could have made. If you are looking for a venue that is professional and happy to give you the best possible experience, look elsewhere.
There is really nothing to this tour. The vessel goes up and down 2 immediate locks, which was the most interesting part. To be honest, it was interesting for about 30 seconds. The rest of the tour was really drab. The tour guide seemed irritated by questions. And the particular deck hand on my tour made and received numerous phone calls from his cell which overpowered the guide, so even if I wanted to listen to the guide...I couldnt. I would have rather educated myself on my own on the really neat bike trail that runs along side of the canal for miles and miles.I was deciding between this tour and the maid of the mist tour at niagara falls (which is only 15 minutes long) and I really regret choosing this one.
Our office booked a two hour cruise ride with Mr. and Mrs. Murphy. They were excellent hosts and very accomodating. Mr Murphy was the captain, he was friendly and very nice to work with. He arranged for us to have our own private boat, drink service onboard, and was flexible with the time. I definitely recommend this cruise for your next office or family event!
Did the Locks Cruise with a group of friends and strangers. Everyone was talking about going again. They have a BEAUTIFUL wedding venue available. We never even knew about. Seriously thinking about getting a group together to do a dinner cruise! Small nautical themed gift shop too, complete with ice cold drinks AND ... souvenir sweatshirts ! lol
Awesome sight to see operations of the 5 lock system for the barge canal and restored original Erie canal. A must see to watch demonstrations of the erie canal lock system being done like the olden days by hand. Plenty to do and see here. Stop by the flight of 5 winery.

2022-06-11We had a lot of fun here. I really wanted to experience the locks, and I was not disappointed. It blew me away to see how fast they filled and drained. 3.5 million gallons in 8 minutes! If you look at my pictures, you will see one with a green bridge just above the water, and another with the same bridge waayyy over the water. 8 minutes! The boats captain was pleasant and enjoyed his work. He narrated throughout, though it was often hard to understand over his microphone system. We very much recommend this tour.

2021-08-16Very relaxing and memorable excursion. The captain and his two mates made the tour through the locks so informative and special. I really enjoyed the guided tour information provided by the captain and the nostalgic music of the years gone by.

2021-06-05What a amazing tour of the Lockport canal!! I wish it was longer and offered alcohol but even without it, it was the bomb 💣 and you cannot beat the price. If I could give them 100 stars I would.

2022-05-18We had a fun time. It was a small group on tour, but the captain was very knowledgeable and fun. It was informative from both a historical and current standpoint. Highly suggest, especially if youve never traveled through a lock before.

2022-06-08The cruise was informative and a great first hand experience of the engineering of a lock system. The staff went way above and beyond to help my partner and I get back to buffalo via bus and train, after lyft brought us to Lockport but could not get us back. Dan, again thank you so very much for the information and great help.

2020-08-10Boat ride lasted for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Was fun, relaxing, and informative. The captain takes you up and down two locks (basically, an elevator for boats) with the boat rising about 50 feet higher than the starting point. Drinks (including alcoholic) and light snacks are available for purchase on the boat as well. The boat has two floors that you are able to freely walk up and down throughout the trip. Crew was friendly and knowledgeable and the price was fair. Would definitely recommend trying it out.
