We have been stuck on a the plane for over an hour after landing and we are still stuck. There is no gate for us to pull up to. The only update we are getting is that they hope a gate will open up for us soon. No one knows why we have not been able to get off the plane yet. The passengers have spoken to the staff and called the airport and no one is helping.
Highly convenient if you are mainly traveling to Long Island. No long security line. No rush. Smooth check in and security. Only few airlines use this airport. Frontier Airline has many online deals with cheaper tickets. You don’t get any city traffic (as in case of JFK and LaGuardia). You can rent a car or can take cab/uber.
This is the worst airport I think one could ever use been here 2 days for them to review my medical report when the doctor brought me here herself and cleared me to fly and I was on a budget but now Ive not eaten. In two days and these people just think that everyone must have money for then to detain you for 2.days and it dont take two days to review a medical report if I end back up in that dam hospital because of these ignorant people thjs airline will be Sewed
Surprisingly larger than I expected. Frontier airlines Gates are all the way in the back. Just keep on walking. The gate seats have no built-in arm rests so they are prefect for taking a quick nap. Long term parking is available. This airport is not walking distance from the Ronkonkoma train station. Grab a $20 train into NYC from the closest train station in Ronkonkoma
Frontier ran very late. The TSA workers were very nice,but the rep at the door started yelling at us as soon as we got to the gate. When I tried to explain our specific situation she really put me on blast.Also, the chair staff refuse to wheelchair me down. Disabled or not! They wouldnt even call another wheeler. ISP is hiring minimally intelligent staff to their discredit.
Great little airport. Although the gates where frontier boards is disgusting and old. Bad ventilation, freeze in the winter, roast in the summer. Bathrooms need a renovation... This entire end of the airport is very old. Southwest has the nicest gate areas.The restaurant situation at this airport is almost non existent. There is a bar with food and then there is Starbucks, a bagel type store and then a few closed up restaurants. Pizza closed. Fridays closed. I think it was A &W , theyre gone also. Empty restaurants and stores for years. The gift shops here and the sundry stores are really in bad shape. The airport really needs a bit of a boost to compare favorably with better established small airports.
Small, easy to navigate. Cant really get it wrong but it can get crowded when theres multiple flights going out. Do wish more airlines were able to fly out of this airport, though! Kind of a catch-22 there. Has a Starbucks and some odd stores, but what you can expect in an airport.
*Horrendous* customer service. Every employee I’ve come in contact with here have been rude and just unfriendly. I had my flight cancelled after spending 7 hours here yesterday, they were nasty to me then too, and I had to come back at 5am this morning for a 7:16 am rescheduled flight. I get that it’s early and everybody is tired but that’s part of the job when you work with the public and kindness goes a long way. This place is a joke and the employees don’t care about you at all.
Quite simply, the best airport in the New York metro area for non-stop service to Florida. For other domestic destinations, I still prefer MacArthur over the other major New York City airports. Id rather change planes in Baltimore or Philadelphia than deal with the hassle and congestion of the other major New York airports. JFK and LGA are disgusting and way overcrowded. MacArthur is a pleasure. Thats not to say that I wouldnt like better flight choices and more airlines there in the future.
Flying into this airport in the evening is like landing on the surface of the moon. Dont expect Uber, Lyft, a taxi or the hotel shuttle to pick you up from the airport unless you wait 45+ minutes to get to your hotel thats only 10 minutes away. Next time I will just fly into LaGuardia where there is civilization and transportation options.
The airport is great however the long term parking is completely shady. It says everywhere that they charge $17 per day including tax but we were charged $220 for 9 days without explanation. They tried to say that it was because we were on short term parking but they are interconnected, then they tried to say it was because of taxes which didnt make any sense since $17 per day includes tax. Check what they charge you when you leave the airport!
Clean, smaller airport. Very rigid check point. Or maybe I looked like I had a gun. Body scanned..OK. Body search and fingers swabed for gunpowder. I thought seriously..but went through it..wondering how some others that looked suspicious 🤔 went through with no gunpowder swab? Traveling..random acts of pat down..
I am looking at the answers to the parking questions. It is $14.00 per 24 hours in the economy parking lot with a shuttle to the terminal beginning at 4:00 or 4:30 a.m. I absolutely love this airport. The people are friendly, it is much more convenient than La Guardia or JFK, less traffic, and there are several airlines that fly out of there, especially Southwest, which is the best.
A short ride from NYC. This airport offers shorter security lines and overall simplicity. The food options are slim but tasty. The Frontier Airlines gates are the most distant from the security line. Ive used this airport on 2 occasions, utilizing the available long term parking.
Terrible experience. The lady at the southwest desk that checked me in due to kiosks not being open was extremely rude and unprofessional. The lady at the security line was the same way. I even greeted everyone I came in contact with and was respectful so I dont understand why the customer service was terrible. Im very upset with the way I was treated for absolutely no reason. Definitely makes me not want to use this airport again and will make sure everyone knows about the experience I had.
This is a great airport. I have had great experience. This has only happened to me once my flight had gotten canceled or delayed for a long time or something like that and da staff was so kind enough to just let my mom and i go home (about 20min). The next day when we came back everything was on target we got to our flight and still had plenty of time to catch my connecting flight to Knoxville TN. Overall this is a great airport i definitely recommend this airport to everyone!!!!
I have flown through this airport two times in my life (both Frontier flight)The first time happened 2-3 years ago I along with my Dad & my younger brother moving to Florida (the flights were booked, cats had went to the vet the morning before).My Dad gets a notification the day before we fly out and our flight was delayed due to crew call-in possibly from a Halloween party (it was the 30th).Didn’t matter to me so we get to the airport and we get to the TSA checkpoint (bless their hearts) they loved my two cats (they had to come out of their cat carriers).Some of the TSA agents did a little pet to my cats and absolutely made them calm (even though we had to give the cats vet prescribed drugs so they wouldn’t be to noisy on the plane)Everything went smoothly after that.The second time (June 2019)Went smoothly I flew from Tampa and had a nice walk from one end of the airport to the other.
Southwest is the main carrier out of LIMA. Frontier and American also fly out of ISP. These same carriers also have flights out of LaGuardia but if you live somewhere between these two, I think youd be crazy not to use ISP. Plenty of parking, small TSA security lines and a short walk to the arrival and departure gates. Not many places to grab a bite, so eat before you leave home!
Interesting arrangement... We all know you can’t take liquids through security. A public establishment and there are no working water fountains inside if the security area. The only water fountain inside of security is out of order. Here’s the catch, $4.69+tax for a small bottle (16.9 oz/500 ml) of water! Freshen up before you go through security. Admin says that is the only working water fountain at the airport.
This is the first time Ive been to this airport and I travel ALOT so Ive seen many different airports. This is probably the worst experience of my life. I arrived 2 hours before and they said check in was closed and that I had to run to get past TSA. When I get to the gate. They said well you should have been here earlier and its your fault and that they shouldnt even let me on the plane... Ive never had this kind of experience. Ill think twice before I come here again
I’ve never had any issues at this airport and I’ve been flying my entire life through Islip. During my recent trip , the TSA staff were SO NASTY AND DISRESPECTFUL. There were SEVERAL TSA staff members that were just so rude and nasty to myself, and my family. I flew on 10/13/19 mid afternoon. During one of the incidences, my mother was trying to make conversation with one of the male TSA just explaining how different MCO airport had differed from ISP. His response was “I don’t care about Orlando airport” and totally dismissed her conversation. It was just one thing after another with multiple TSA staff. Their attitudes and nasty sarcasm just really disgusted my family. Wasn’t a pleasant experience at all.
Not enough employees. Had a 4:55pm Frontier flight Monday April 30th with a TSA prechecked boarding pass in my mobile phone and no baggage to check; so I get there at 4pm to find the TSA precheck line closed and approximately 60 people on line with ONE security liune open and all mioving at a snails pace. I start mouthing off since Im gonna miss my flight at this rate and they finally open the TSA precheck line.after 20 mins of stressing out on the slow line. Plus the employee who I showed my irritation to didnt even bother to let me know when he opened the line .I was told by other irritated passengers who agreed with my frustration. Everyone was working as quickly as they could but there was not enough of them to handle all the passengers. Dont they know by purchases how many to expect? Looks like poor management to me.
Love this place cause I can get in quick, easy parking and few people are usually in line so it is a quick in and out process. Hate this place too because so few people travel through here, they are a mess when they have to handle a larger (not large, just larger) crowd.I travelled through this airport on Wed, Oct 17th and stood in the TSA Pre Security check-in line. When I almost got to security, I got an email and text alert that my flight was delayed, so I figured I would leave the line and take a work conference call, then go through the TSA Pre Security line again since it was much shorter than the regular line. After about 30 minutes, I figured I better get back in line. I went to the TSA Pre line, but airport security decided to close that line so I had to go and wait in the regular line and it WAS LONG! The regular line was so long, it extended past the roped off entrance. Why would they close off the TSA Pre Security line when the regular line is extra long? It makes no sense. All the while, I saw plenty of TSA security personnel walking around, talking to each other and generally not so busy that 1 person could not walk over and tend to the TSA Pre Security Line. 40 minutes later, I finally passed through security. Anyone going through this airport knows that 40 minutes through their security line is ridiculous.Get it together Long Island MacArthur Airport security! I know you will not do anything, but I thought people should know that airport security here is unpredictable and they better plan for it.
Make sure if your taking an evening flight that you eat before heading to the airport. This was my first time at this airport and I was running a little late, so I did not eat dinner. Boy! I wish I did, food court NOT opened, not even a coffee shop. It’s a very small airport so when you arrive two hours before your flight, there isn’t anything to do. Make sure you download Netflix movies. TSA workers not nice.
This was my first time flying out of ISP, and the ease and convenience it provides for people in the area is unparalleled. Check in was a breeze, and I have never before boarded a flight so effortlessly. I will go out of my way, and pay a little extra to fly out of here in the future.
ISP is by far the best airport in the NY metropolitan area! Flying out of here is the most hassle free experience because TSA lines are never too long nor gates far away.Additionally, Village Taxi offers a $5 flat rate for each passenger traveling between ISP and the Ronkonkoma LIRR Station. It makes the airport very accessible from places like NYC.The one downside is that their destinations are quite limited aside from cities in Florida. Nevertheless, I really hope they can add more domestic destinations in the future.
My flight was just cancelled 1 hour before departure with American Airlines. I took half a day off of work. My brothers rehearsal for his wedding it tomorrow at 10 am and my new flight wont be getting in until 2pm. When i asked the representative why the flight was cancelled she said due to heavy traffic which sounds like poor planning to me. When i said if they have any CSAT policies she said whats that? I explained that it is customer satisfaction. She said yes, we are booking you on a flight tomorrow for free. This has been a poor experience for me and a well deserved 1 star.
This airport is also called Islip Airport because its located in Islip in Long Island.Very nice airport. At one point this airport was busy and it was expanded because there was many airlines using it to travel to NY.Many of the airlines were acquired consolidated under a bigger airline carriers. Also few of the airlines stopped flying to this airport.Its very sad to see this airport not working at even its half capacity.If youre heading to Long Island this should be your target airport as its very convenient and easy to use and faster to get to.
A few years ago we stopped coming to ISP because the non-stop flights were higher price than LGA. We found out that Frontier flies direct to ATL and were pleasantly surprised by the low cost. But the main reason we will come is the great fast service, convenience to eastern Long Island, and not dealing with the hassles at LGA again. Would love it if Southwest had ATL non-stops, it was a long layover earlier this year with them.Very modern Airport, good wheelchair assistance for family member on last trip. Most car rental choices good. An updated food court would be a welcome bonus but still 5 stars for the service and no hassles at security.
I left my tennis raquets in the overhead bin last night on the plane. Came back today to ask around. Frontier had no one at the desk yet but the Police Officers wee there. Officer Burns went above and beyond. He took my # and actually went to the gate and spoke to someone and got our raquets off the plane. So happy he was working today and went above and beyond for us.
Small, convenient airport. Works really well for me to get from Tampa to NY. The airport isn’t huge so it doesn’t take forever to get to your gate. The only negative is how long it takes to get your bags at the baggage claim. Maybe as much time it takes to get from ny to florida lol.
Ugh! Worst. Firstly, I am traveling with 4 children (9,5,3 and 2 years old), Frontier doesnt serve anything for free so I walked with a bottle and half of water which was taken away from me at TSA even though I explained that I need it for my children. The water bottles werent even open, i asked if he can test it and he said no. A little while after i saw another TSA agent test a bottle of water for someone else. Ridiculous! The bathrooms in the terminal are small and dirty, doesnt have seat covers and just old. Horrible experience.
They dont open on time and we know at least one of the security guys cant tell time. He yells at the people who are lined up in the TSA line We open at 4! as he walks by a clock that says 4:05...He makes everyone walk back out of the line. He was unnecessarily rude. Only reason you would want to use this airport is its cheaper to fly into and a little less crowded than the others.
Awesome, airport, one of the least time consuming airport i have ever flown into. My Apartment was 5 mins away from the airport and had a year parking pass for the airport parking. From parking to gate it took me roughly 20 mins every time i fly out of that airport, if you think you have time on your hand when your flying in check the flight options to this airport, also the LIRR is 10 mins uber ride from the airport, just take train right to Penn station, train every 60 mins.
Small airport, a little over an hour from Penn Station to the nearby Ronkonkoma Train. TSA was incredibly pleasant during the check in - reminds you of a more simpler time when flying.The only reason why this place doesn’t deserve a 5 star is because every food/shopping option closes here at 6pm.Fun Fact - Someone told me that there used to be a TGI Friday’s here but had to be shut down because of the numerous complaints of people having way too many drinks.Not to say that’s the only reason why it’s dead here, but I can believe some variation of that.
Security is slow and inefficient. Show up early. They have two lines—one has 300 people waiting in it and the other (TSA pre check) has one person every 45 minutes. They must not notice how inefficient this is. Result is a long wait with all the kids going to see Mickey.
Great airport with no flights. Southwest screwed all of central and eastern Long Island by pulling almost EVERYTHING out of this airport. There were enormous upgrades made for Southwest which moved to LaGuardia, a decrepit third world facility that is horrible to get in and out of. There are a total of 24 flights a day at Islip now, inbound and outbound combined while LGA and JFK are overcrowded. I miss the 2000s when you could catch numerous flights to Chicago and elsewhere out of ISP.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT FLY FRONTIER AIRLINES. I haven’t even gotten to the gate yet and I’m pissed off at the extreme incompetence of this airline. They do not care at all about you or your experience. They charge you for everything. They tried to charge me for a seat selection TWICE!!Yesterday I showed up no more than 5 mins after my family did to wait at the counter for 20Mins while there were no employees to be found to check me in. This resulted in me missing the flight. They tried to tell me that they don’t let anyone in after 45 mins before the flight. THIS WAS A FLAT OUT LIE! I then indicated to them that my family is on the flight and just arrived at the gate at 3:40 for a 3:50 flight. Their face dropped because they knew I caught them in a lie.Now today I’m at the airport yet again waiting for their employees to actually do something. And yet again with the lies. I was here at 12:45 waiting for someone to show up. When they came out I was asked “what’s the issue?” Really? What’s the issue? This is how you speak to someone who hasn’t said anything yet? Then I was told 1:15 is when they check people in. The representative the day prior they check people in 6 hours prior. So I wait. And I wait. Then I find out they don’t even do anything until 1:50. Nice so now the line is increasing and no one is saying anything or coming out to communicate to anyone. A woman asked the frontier rep came out to smoke a cigarette outside about what’s going on. She told her about this insane policy of not checking anyone in until 2 hours before the flight and said that she said it twice. ANOTHER LIE!!! I then said, “ you are a liar. I’ve been here for over an hour and NO ONE came out.” She just looked at me and her face dropped realizing that I caught her and just scurried away.I tried to check in online and they tried to charge me for my seat selection AGAIN!! I paid for it yesterday!! This experience just keeps getting better!I’m waiting and sitting down because I have an injury on my feet and I can’t stand for the exorbitant amount of time that they expect you too. The line has become insane because these employees are incompetent. They treat people like cattle and not like human beings. The line was out the door and now it’s down the hallway!I went to the bathroom and came back and the line is still insane. What is wrong with them. The employees are in the office the whole time this huge line is there but they refuse to work because of “company policy.”Do not fly them. I’m following up with complaints to every entity that I can find. I believe that they are scamming their customers.
The woman at the American airlines with blonde hair and the bad tan gave me such an attitude and disrespect because I arrived 2 minutes late . I didnt need it knowing my whole business trip was ruined and I couldnt attend it anymore . I had to reschedule for NEXT MONTH. How about working on your employees attitude towards customers along with other convenient things. Thanks.
Really couldnt ask for more. Feels like taking a bus and security is always a breeze with little to no lines and close proximity to the gates. This has been my secret hub for many years for a hop, skip, and jump to FLL on any given weekend whether planned or last min. Best part is I usually get a great fare to boot!!
TSA here is horrible, rude and slow. Im certain theyre racist, I asked for a pat down (aka opt out), I had to wait over 20 mins on the side. Then, I was called by a white guy, who just started at me and disrespectfully curled his finger at me, gesturing to come. He then proceeded to explain the pat down process, zipping through it in an incoherent manner and wouldnt make eye contact. TSA complaints are long and numerous over a span of many years, just add this to the list.
Small airport in the middle of no where. May be a good option if you are visiting the hamptons or long island vineyards, but otherwise its far from the new york city. This airport is local, so not that many gates and cant really get lost, unlike La Guardia or JFK nearby. At the same time, its hard to find cheap tickets (they are typically more expensive that tickets to JFK or La Guardia) and will most likely have to fly with a transfer. Not many snack options in the waiting area either. Overall, if you want quiet, this is the airport to use for travels out of eastern long island area.
TSA Supervisor Tom Fitzpatrick confiscated a keychain pen laser pointer in the shape of a bullet under the guise of it being a replica weapon. A replica gun is a replica weapon, something shaped like a bullet is not a weapon. Even on his sheet there was a section for replica weapons and one for actual ammunition. No section for replica ammunition because its NOT A THING. An arrow without a bow is useless. I asked him multiple times to show me where this policy was printed and he said they were not obligated to share their policies with the public uhh what??? Told me to check the TSA website, which I did and its not there. I asked him if it is in fact there to please show me and he refused. It was just lazy entitled TSA workers trying to look like they were doing something productive other than stealing peoples things. What Pizza Hut were these bums fired from that made them free to take their job here?1/14/16 Update: flew through LGA, JFK, and CMH with it with no problem. Check your egos, ISP TSA agents.

Worst worst the worst !!!! No communication between front and back !!!! Our bags made the flight but we did not !!! long line on check points and plains leave without at least 20 passengers and nobody can do nothing about anything !!! Never fly from MacArthur airport !!!

2022-05-08This is hands down the calmest airport I’ve ever been to!. It’s quick, no long lines at tsa, you won’t have trouble getting dropped off directly at the entrance. As soon as you walk in you will see all airlines, it’s pretty hard to get lost there. Highly recommend flying out of this airport if you don’t like the fast paced over crowded airports. It was actually cheaper to fly from here compared to the other airports.

2022-04-18Delayed flights. They also lie about when the doors actually close. The agents at the gate were rude. They were verbally aggressive with some people, and unwilling to help out some others.Its great that they dont have long lines, but youd still have to wait hours if you fly with Frontier.

2022-02-21I hope this airport gets more attention is very conveniently located in the middle of the island close to the Ronkonkoma train station. The lines are short and destinations are few however the airport is very well kept. Looking forward to to my next destination from this amazing Airport

2022-04-29I have used this airport many times before, but this last time I attempted to use Southwest airlines. To say my trip did not go well is an understatement! Southwest has stripped away any and all customer service. Wait times over phone are extremely long so I decided to use their phone App to book my flight. Well something went wrong with the phone application, and the wrong date got booked. Was it an app. error or human error I dont know, but I needed it fixed. I tried to get customer service on the phone, but the southwest personnel on the 1-800 number advised they have no ability to fix my issue they can only book reservations. I was directed to customer service online that only takes emails...no incoming calls. I am still fighting via 1-way email to get my money back or at least a flight credit. And this process is so slow so in the end I had to book my flight elsewhere for less. Southwest built their business on customer service, and now they have none. Buyer beware!

2022-05-17Bluepoint Restaurant Bar is a hidden gem inside MacArthur. If ur flight is delayed.. this is the place to be.. staff is awesome, food is great, the drinks are amazing

2019-12-06The only redeeming quality about this airport is the fact that its small. If you land hungry and thirsty good luck, their only food is available for departing flights. No water fountains, no benches anywhere outside.... its like any places on LI, not well planned or developed. There are car rentals.

2022-01-09Everything was great, except for the fact they confiscated my military coins that I work so hard to get. Every opportunity Ive gotten to call them they dont have answers for me. Its not like one or two it was all of them. But at least they left me the bag they were in. I wasnt given any information that I cant have coins in my bag. Its very irritating and upsetting.
