Lost And Found in other cities:
The chefs, passion, love and attention to detail was evident in every bite. He warmly welcomed us with a bow of beans deliciously seasoned and shared a sample of one of the 2 specials of the night.I ordered the kale salad and tuna, both prepared perfectly. As I watched the artichokes and fritters (?) being prepared, I wished I had more room to try them.Great atmosphere in this intimate space. Put this place on your list!
I didnt eat as I spent an hour looking for the place and I was only 1/2 mile away when I started walking toward it. I had a 5:00 reservation...I got there at 6:00 to a cramped space at the end of the bar against the wall. I chose not to stay. They need a better sign. I walked by it twice. It looked like a lovely place to eat.
Excellent experience all around. Amazing flavors, very interesting dishes, and great & friendly staff. By far some of the best food you can eat on Long Island. The rustic quirky interior is a great fit for the eclectic ever-changing menu. (Dont expect to go online and find their website with a menu to pre examine, and if that bothers you then go somewhere else! You have to be willing to be surprised and try some things you never have before, or some familiar dishes with a new exciting twist, but youll be damn glad you did at the end.) Sit at the Chefs Table (4 seats total) if available, you get to see the chef de cuisine in action, interact with him, and get surprise samples along the way if youre lucky. Except for 1-2 plates, everything is a sharing dish, so order up a bunch and try as many as you can! All without breaking the bank. This place has immediately become a repeat visit for date nights. (Best experienced with 2 or 4 people, but there is one table for larger parties.) Call as far in advance for reservations as you can, since this small dining room fills up quick!
Without a doubt the best dining experience you could ask for. Alexis just produces flavors that no other chef I have ever seen has. Once you come once, you will be telling everyone you know its one of the best restaurants you have ever been to. Great job Alexis and Crew!!
The food is fine but the music was impossibly loud, making it hard to hear. Worse than that, I heard the owner refer several times to illicit drugs and ridicule diners before and after they left. I was very uncomfortable and felt like I had crashed the owners one-man show.
Great food with awesome service. The menu is seasonal, but everything on there does not disappoint. The plates are smallish in size so it gives you the chance to try a little bit of everything. And what you order comes out randomly so you never know what plate is going to be brought to you first, how soon, or when they will come which allows you to enjoy the pleasant ambiance of the place. Or If you prefer you can watch the chefs go to work in the open kitchen. Great for any occasion!
Went in on Tuesday night and arrived for tapas night! Very unexpected but very welcomed. And welcoming! The staff was super friendly and informative as to what was going on. And the chef was pumping out delicious and satisfying small plates. Not from the area but left such a good impression that I’m craving to go back!
What a treat! The food was amazing, the entire team is a cohesive machine like Ive never seen before. Anywhere. Outstanding experience all around. Dishes were perfectly proportioned and wonderfully composed. Even the Playlist was awesome. We sat at the bar and got to watch chef/owner Alexis at his craft. If youre just two, this is a great place to sit.... And watch an artist at work!
Where to begin when you talking about Lost and Found? The best way to start is with the word “perfect”. Merely saying Alexis (Head chef and owner) is a “wonderfully creative chef” is an insult to his artistry. I’ve been to Lost and Found multiple times and had the pleasure of this past Sunday (2/16/2020) of sitting at the chef’s counter. Being this close to Alexis I was able to witness firsthand his mastery inside the beautiful open kitchen. While quiet French music played Alexis danced his way around the cozy kitchen preparing each and every dish with his full attention and care. He makes everyone who enters his restaurant feel comfortable and seen.Being a vegetarian people always ask me “what do you eat when you go out?” and at Lost and Found I’ve had the most unique and thoughtful vegetarian dishes. Crunchy fresh bread with salted butter, Rustic potatoes, broccoli shining like the star of a meal, garden fresh ratatouille and burrata that rivals the dishes I ate in Positano, Italy! I’ve only enjoyed dessert one time and I chose a decadent custard Paired with a cup of black coffee, it was the perfect way to end another perfect meal.Although I myself don’t enjoy the dishes cooked with meat and fish just by the plating and murmurs from guests at nearby tables, I can confidently say you’ll find something that will make you want to savor every bite!Lost and Found’s dishes are meant to be shared so go with a small group! There may be a wait yet every minute will be worth it! Enjoy a glass of wine and marvel at the beautiful art covered walls! If you want a more intimate experience with the Chef (as I did) I do recommend you make reservations at the Chef’s counter at least a week in advance. I believe your experience will be full of excitement and happiness. You’ll leave with a full heart alongside a full stomach!*One more reminder, bring cash! No credit cards accepted here!
Lost & Found is a secret 5 star restaurant in the West End of Long Beach. Between the Chefs food and the attentive staff, its a definite staple of our community. Make reservations in advance and dont plan on checking the menu out before you go. Fresh meat, fish, poultry, and produce, determine the menu for the evening, just prepare to be stoked on the atmosphere and above all the food 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙.
Monday is tapas night and the choices are terrific. Just wait 10 minutes and all new offerings are up on the counter. Each one better than the last one. A wonderful option in Long Beach. Been back a few times just for the tapas and the very helpful staff. Tuesday is taco night. Have to go back.
Had high expectations for a great dinner at Lost & Found. We wish they stayed lost...Had a reservation, no greeting or welcome when we walked in, but shown the communal table and we sat down. Took a while for a server to come by. He took half the tables drink order and walked away leaving us confused. Came back to open our bottle of wine, but not knowing or able to open it, disappeared so someone else could open it. Did not explain himself, so we asked what happened and he responded that someone else was opening the wine. The we had to remind him to take the rest of the tables drink orders. We struggled to read the menu as it was a photocopy and very light and difficult to see. We were told about the 2 specials- never explained or prices shared with us. There was no coordination or management that we could see on a Saturday night. The food came out slowly, huge gaps of service, but everything was good, not great, but good. After 7 items served, our sleepy waiter determined it was time to refresh our plates for our final course of the Filet Mignon special. The plate arrived- 4 or 5 oz max- of a sliced piece of filet. We all just looked at it....if this is a sharing concept, please...someone recommend that this plate was not large enough to share. It was good and properly cooked. The the bill came, we were all surprised to see the steak dish was $45. We had to say something. The server brought the chef over, who immediately was defensive, comparing the costs to other high end restaurants. She explained that she cooked the steak properly, which we agreed with, but were confused that this tiny portion was presented as a sharing plate for 6 people. At this point, our waiter came by and remarked that he was pretty sure he told us the price of the item- which all 6 of us agreed that he did not, or give us details of the small portion size. Upon leaving, we could clearly see the kitchen staff and servers all whispering about us. SO unprofessional and rude. We still wanted to leave on a positive note and share what we felt was constructive criticism, but one member of our party went up to speak to them and at this point, the waiter again said that he was sure he told us the item was $45. The chef then responded that she was done with this-goodbye. We were neither rude or disrespectful. Lastly, we had advised them of a peanut allergy in our party and felt it was not professionally or seriously addressed, so that member of our party only had the chicken to try. Truly wish that this was the experience we read about in other reviews.
Wow!!! Great restaurant. From the Kale Salad, to the shrimp confit, to the hanger steak with chimichurri sauce, to the awesome desserts, this restaurant nailed it. Maybe it seats 30-40 so dont show up without a reservation. There is no menu on line as they change it regularly we were informed. Hope they dont change it too much. Whenever you walk out of restaurant with complete soul satisfaction cause the food was so good you have a winner. Lost and Found is a winner.
Great quality food. Lots of unusual and healthy selections. Two complaints are that it is supposed to be tapas style but a lot of the dishes arent put together in a way that is easy to divide, and that there is no dessert menu. Practically surrounded by bars/clubs for after dinner.
I feel like this is a type of place you either love or hate. The plates are small and everything is a share(tapas) plate(the plates were a little small for a sharing style). Nothing on the menu really apealed to my senses. My partner enjoyed it thoroughly. We had the burrata(tasted fine) paired with fruit coated in a vinaigrette, right away my palate was not pleased. The potatoes were okay, I ate them..I was really hungry, but totally sub par. The outside was nice and crispy though. Then we had the main dish, the steak(sirloin?). That was okay. I did enjoy the taste, some of it was fatty and I did not like that it sat in this red/orange oil. That grossed me out and it gave it a bad taste. Again, I was hungry , so I tried to dry the steak off of any excess oil. The bill came to about $67 for three plates and a glass of wine. So it was also a bit expensive for the amount of food and taste for my liking. Again my partner liked it and she would have giving it 4 stars. I also think her taste buds are not as sensitive .😉.😁.😊.🤣. I would have gone to Grotta Di Fuoco down a half block, across the street.
I wanted to give this place five stars...the food was great..but, and this is a huge but, we had a reservation on a Sunday night at 6. A reservation we made a full month in advance. We ate and drank quite a bit, and accumulated a substantial tab, for which we tipped more than fairly. We were rather rudely informed that we needed to leave because they allow 2 hours for a reservation. We are not a demographic that should be alienated. This could have been handled a lot more elegantly. Total turn off.
Great. Best place in LB. They put cushions on the seats and it wasnt so dark, either. But its all about the CHEF and his heavy metal/hard rock music played throughout dinner incessantly. Hey, $220 for three ADULTS who may want to NOT hear this stuff..ever hear of jazz, mood music, or classical, guys? Keep up the great food work but please work on your musical selections. Yecch!
Love the food. Service seemed a bit indifferent but warmed a bit. Baccala fritters are delicious. Enjoyed duck confit, roasted cauliflower, bibb salad, striped bass special, sea scallops with pistou were perfect. Another breathe of fresh air in Long Beach dining scene.
Was turned away when several seats were open and available. Host was literally thinking about weather she wanted to seat us or not. I guess you pick and choose your guests. Total turn off. Guess what everyone’s money is green. Will never return. Trust me your food isn’t that good to have a turned up nose attitude.
Just ok. More hype than substance . Hostess was great, waiter was awful . I like small menus but catch of the day being Pollock is a joke .... If you dont want pork or stake you are out of options.anyway I think wild feast is better and their new raw place by dough hut too.

2022-03-20Hands down the best dining experience for quite some time! Its a small place, which actually works to the diners advantage. Small means individual attention to get your order exactly right. Starts with amazing bread, tomato and fresh lightly pickled cucumber plate. Salad was fresh and light. We had the swordfish and lamb sausage with a side of asparagus and were by no means disappointed. Everything was perfectly prepared. Our waitstaff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The Chefs clearly love what they do and love to educate their staff. The wine was reasonably priced and delicious. We finished with a cheesecake that was decadent. Portions were perfect. We left happy and satisfied but not stuffed. Make sure you allow a week to get a reservation but we got lucky on the standby list. Perfect blend of elegance and atmosphere with a casual dining feel. This place could compete with any of Manhattans finest restaurants.

2022-04-30My fiance and I had a fantastic time here! We sat at the bar which overlooks the kitchen. We were warmly greeted and got to speak with the owner, who gave us a passionate and very helpful wine recommendation that was ultimately much appreciated. The menu is a very interesting one with a variety of unique small plate appetizers and entrees. We ended up ordering four small plates and one main between us which was plenty for us to share. Each was fantastic and they timed it perfectly so they came out one at a time so you could enjoy each of them individually. We really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and hospitality and cant wait to come back!

2021-09-03Where to begin. Andrea at the door did an amazing job getting us seated inside, even though we had no reservation. (do make a reservation anyday they are open between 4-5) Alexis and Danny are true maestros, everything we had was absolutely delicious. We will be coming back very soon and cant wait to invite friends and family. Our new favorite restaurant for sure.

2021-08-08Overall we had a wonderful experience here. The atmosphere is unique and the food is very good. We were sitting at the bar so got an up close look at the chef in action. He was also very friendly and warm, which was appreciated also. My only suggestion would be to get taller bar chairs. But overall I’d definitely go back and suggest others to visit.

2021-06-24Popped in for a quick espresso while waiting for brunch reservation across the street. Was pleasantly surprised by how cool the vibe was, how friendly the staff was and how delicious and bespoke the menu sounded. Ended up staying over an hour, ordering food and will be back again!

2017-02-04Went there last night with a party of 8. This was my first time. At first the menu was a little overwhelming because so many options and not your everyday dishes. The waitress suggested we get the chef choice. Basically the chef just showcases his menu. Every dish that came out was amazing. The flavors were unbeliavbel and I consider this dinner as I. My top 3 and Ive eaten in many restaurants across NY, Vegas, and in between. I cant wait to go back.
