Lowes Home Improvement in other cities:
This place has TOP NOTCH associates. I am normally more apt to use HD as they are almost always the closet store. But if this was my local Lowe’s, I’d drive the extra mile or two to go there! The employees seem genuinely interested in helping you find what you need and when asked, they actually knew what aisle I needed. We really appreciated that as we were visiting from out of state and on a tight timeline! So we really appreciate Lowe’s in Cortland. You were a pleasure to do business with!
If I could make this a zero I would. Never order anything from this store and expect it to be on time. Also never believe them when they say your order is in. Waited over two months for one window, was told it was in when I called. Got to store to be told it was not in and gotta phone call that it would be a week more. Very poor communication and real lack of effort to make customer service a priority.
The Cortland Lowes is a very clean and well-run store. The employees are almost universally friendly and knowledgeable and its easy to find someone to talk to about any type of project. The merchandise is moderately priced, and there is a good selection of products and brands to choose from.
Depending on the time of day, Lowes can be a 5 star or a 2 star establishment as it relates to customer experience and service. Managers who are typically on the PM shift have a tendency to allow their subordinates to act in a manner that is unethical, judgmental, narrow minded and ego driven. In many instances they put Lowes Corporation and uppper management at risk and in a position where the results of these actions, which are carried out by these employees on customers whom they have a personal agenda to harass can and will more than likely sooner than later end in litigation. Lowes, in every case that goes in this direction, will 100% of the time bare the financial burden as it relates to the level of payout, based upon the monetary value of each action and where it sits within the federal and state human rights laws and regulations that protect people who have been negatively affected by these employees actions. Their ignorance is a huge liability for Lowes. Having to endure such actions should be taken seriously and legally acted upon by the people who are affected. However, if you can avoid the PM shift and your time allows you to shop on the am shift, your experience is great! Upper management is spot on and the customer experience is great as a result.
Really good store, has a great variety of supplies for home improvement. Staff was very helpful in finding what I needed and I love the fact that they support our military. Almost gave 4 Stars only because there was at least 8 people in line with only 1 register open, not sure why, but the cashier was very speedy and go through the line in a decent amount of time. Will be going back due to the fact that their bath section, tubs, showers, ect., are a bit cheaper than Home Depot.
Cortland Lowes...went today, couldnt find what I was looking for, a sales associate, Brian asked if he could help and ended up getting on his hands and knees to find a tire for my lawn mower. I mentioned that I kind of wanted a push mower and he showed me a Craftsman that was on sale...bought that too! He loaded it on a wagon and another sales associate and Brian helped me get it into my Jeep. Good shopping experience.....cant get my push mower to start though....😒
After spending over $1000 on a stove and having to wait more than two weeks, rearranging work and summer camp to accommodate the delivery on July 30th... Lowes emails me two days before delivery to say my delivery is rescheduled for August 14th. EXCUSE ME? Are you going to pay for the work I missed? We had an agreement and they unapologetically broke it. AND Ive been on hold for almost an hour. Buy your appliances somewhere else.
I got a vanity from lowes in Cortland. Upon taking the vanity out of the box the back was broken and sink was cracked. Obviously was a return they just put back on the floor to be sold...Called, didnt seem to be bothered by the broken item or even a sorry... and no more in stock, refunded my money but was horrible getting ahold of anyone or even trying to get another one. Never had this experience there before. Usually theyre good but this time they sucked.
We went to Lowes to look at brand new kitchen appliances. We were debating waiting a month to buy them but there was a sale and the service seemed satisfactory at the thistime. Now we regret it. Overall the initial visit was satisfactory. The associates were kind and helpful and we felt at the time we were given the correct information. However after that visit the more information we got from subsequent people and phone calls made us very frustrated with the little knowledge and lack of communication we had previously received. The price of items changed daily, the things we needed (extra) stuff we didnt know about kept piling up and we eventually cancelled our installation of two items because of this. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told the supervisor would do it for me and then was told nothing could be done about the situation. The only helpful associate at Lowes was Travis the manager when I called back for a second time- he was helpful but unable to do anything to change our mind on canceling the installations. We are very upset with the service we received and do not feel valued and we do not trust the Lowes company anymore. We will definitely consider going elsewhere for larger purchases from now on.
I used to love this Lowe’s for all of their great plant selection and how well they take care of them. The staff has always been very kind an helpful. Lately thought I’ve noticed that they have a fungus gnat infestation in all of their plants and I ended up bringing one before I noticed and infested all of my plants with them.
Go to buy lumber and the website said there was over 100 at the location. Walked around the lumber and saw none. Finally found someone and asked and they said it was outside. I went outside and didnt find any either. Asked someone outside and kinda looked around and said oh its in lumber. I said no Ive been down there and they pointed me to the outside. I then got a oh , well yeah were out then. Really bad customer service and clearly no one updates on hand inventory. Dont get me started with the paint dept.
I spend a fair amount in Lowes being a contractor. when I go to the cash register with several hundred dollars worth of PEX parts that I could have ordered online and saved at least 20 to 30%.... And they cannot even provide me with a bag to take them to my vehicle unless they charge me is ridiculous, insulting and now has me ordering things online...... I do not agree at all with the pop psychology and cultural trends regarding making people pay for a bag to get their purchased goods home.......
This Lowe’s is wonderful we bought kitchen cabinets a few months ago and when we were leaving to take them home one fell out of the back of the truck before we left the parking lot, they replaced it when we went in and told them what happened. We shop there several times a week and will continue to shop there. Wonderful customer service.
While I find most big box stores to be sorely lacking in initiative, customer service, and overall knowledge where employees are concerned, Cortland Lowes is the best in my area. Specifically Jeff, Sam, Sarah in pro services and Marty, are old school service providers and have never walked away from an opportunity to get me what I need.
There is a lot to look through. Im always lost in here. You want to find something small? Better ask someone or just already know where to look.Staff is and has always been helpful and polite. Very easy to spend way too much. Came in looking for a faucet and now I have a new fridge
I was disappointed in the recent service I had. We bought a new washing machine. We got to pick the delivery date. The company decided to deliver a day early. Also we were not told that the company would be actually doing 2 separate deliveries. We got a call the day before letting us know of the delivery. Then the day of we got a call 45 minutes before the 1st delivery. Once the first delivery happened, we were left without knowing when the 2nd delivery would happen (that day or the actual day that we wanted). Both deliveries done efficiently and all delivery people were kind.
I am not a large company but outside of specialty lumber and equipment suppliers I spend on average 80-115k in building materials Between HD & Lowes per year. I have used numerous stores throughout NY,PA,DE, and FL. Yes there are always some great stores and then some average stores but my trip to the Cortland store left me wondering how this store manager maintains a job. The floor employees here have mastered the art of Looking busy while doing nothing more than walking laps past customers needing lifting/loading assistance, Re-stocking inventory laying in mass on the main walking areas of the aisles, and material carts strewn across the parking lot. Customer service here absolutely means if you don’t service yourself you won’t be served. If you don’t have time in your busy day to play hide and go seek with a customer service rep or honeIng your loading cart maneuvering skills passed needlessly closed aisles and on floor re-supply then I would pass this store by. Thankfully for me a HD store is only an 8 minute driving distance.
Worst shopping experience of my life. They are short staffed, and the people there dont seem to know how to order an appliance. The clerk helping me was on the phone and helping another clerk while attempting to process my order. She had too many things to do, which tells me its terrible management. I got on the phone with Best Buy and got a much better deal, and they actually knew what they were doing! Will NEVER go to Lowes again.
Worst experience I’ve ever had. My family ordered a stove was delivered a week ago and no one has come to hook up the stove I spent almost $1,000 on. I can’t cook my own food because of it, so I have to waste more money ordering out. VERY UNACCEPTABLE since I have to order out 2-3 times a day to eat
Lowe’s in cortland nice, after Find itemsLooking for but always no on asks if need help n cannot ever find someone. Appliance awesome n paint but other area not so much. Or help with loading lumber items. Instead of helping lid truck watch n wait even when congested. ☹️
The store was a mess, all blue lumber carts were outside along with most regular carts. We had to wipe down our cart as there were none ready already wiped for customers. MANY ( mostly younger males) didnt look busy and most were not wearing their face masks over their noses! Its ironic that the sign at the cash register tells customers that they must wear masks according to CDC guidelines..and that means over your nose and mouth so you dont breathe into the air and potentially expose others. I would not ask an employee a question because his nose was exposed so Lowes lost one more sale. The message I get is that management doesnt care about the safety of their shoppers.
Lowes is a good place for appliance purchases and much much more. It is the old fashioned hardware store amplified by 100 times. The staff is helpful and friendly. From time to time, there are very good sales going on. I should say there are items that you could find in the old style hardware store cannot be found in Lowes or these other big hardware outfits.
Poor customer service. Asked some questions got wrong info asked someone else got sent to an isle then just stood around for half an hour looking for what I wanted and finally finding it. Was looking for a funnel. Shouldnt have been that difficult for the staff to either help me find it or give me the right info.
Employees on the floor seem to dodge customers rather than seek them out to see if they can help. Go to the competitor and youll see employees eager to help you. Its frustrating at Lowes when you really want to purchase items, but dont have a lot of time to search. Cashiers seem cheerful and competent.
I did my research and placed an order for store pickup online. When I got to the store there were designed parking spaces and the desk was at the entrance of the store. Showed my confirmation email and ID, signed the paper and an employee carried it to the car for me. Extremely easy, fast and friendly!
Customer service isnt very good. I couldnt find anyone that knew anything about power tools. And the cashiers didnt seem to know much either. And lastly I had to ask someone to get the attention of the service desk because they only seemed interested in talking to each othwr
If you do not know what you need good luck getting help. None of the employees ask if you need help and if you look for one they usually do not know anything about what you need. Yesterday the garden cashier was sitting on the floor texting and barely even looked up when we arrived.
Lowes has really gone down hill. Dont get me wrong most of the time the people their are very friendly...however the corporate direction the store has taken is awful. Its become completely in personable. Over the past 6 month I have bought a high end stove...(which was over 2k and the door keeps falling off) and a washing machine. I might has well have bought the washer online or from a robot. It probably would have been a better experience. They dont even stock half of their appliances anymore and I will have to wait 5 days to get. We are buying a new one to replace an old one. We were hoping to take it home the same night because ours was broken hence why we went to the store...guess next time we will just order online I suppose.
EDIT: changed my review completely.I know this might not get anywhere, but I hope a reader takes advice. I beg of you, DO NOT WORK HERE. MANAGEMENT IS CORRUPTED. THEY LOVE TO FIRE PEOPLE OVER THE SMALLEST THINGS.. FORCE THEIR WORKERS TO MAKE UP LIES AND STORIES TO GET EACH OTHER FIRED.. fire people over for having FREEDOM TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT ON A BREAK AND LUNCH. A bunch of cry babies. Smfh.
We recently ordered glass shower doors and when we went to the store to pick up the sales associate and I decided that we should send them back for another set do to the box looking like it had been opened returned and damaged. We waited for the new doors to come (or so we thought) just to find out they tried selling us the same box of doors. I’ve shopped at Lowe’s long before the Cortland store had opened and shop there for not only my personal goods but for the companies I own. Time to go back to buying locally.
I go to this place all the time. The employees are very helpful and will go out of their way to help you find what youre looking for if they think it is in that store. They have a lot of items for every project and have employees that are good with helping with projects.
Had a few returns that were purchased at another store but they totally denied my returns saying they are too old (1yr?) to do anything with. Didnt even offer to put it on a gift card or anything!! Now I have to drive 45+ minutes to Ithaca so they can take care of my needs. Cortland Lowes sucks badly.
Four stars because they have everything you need for your projects. However, finding someone to help you is a process. You could find someone, but they usually dont know how to help. I wish they would train their employees to be knowledgeable in the department they are working in.
The employee was very helpful especially when the electric stove my mom wanted wasnt available for a week and a half he found her another one similarly priced and in the color she wanted with an earlier delivery date and was very patient while she decided if she wanted it which she did he was also very pleasant and courteous
Not this store but the card people do not care if you use lowes or not and my boss went to a lowes last week and they said his check wood not go threw machine he told them that they had to do it manual because he use to do it a lot there they said no so he went to a local appliance store and spent his $800 their oya they took his check #16005 lost two good customers this week

2022-06-01This Lowes location is always clean and usually has exactly what we need. Customer service is hit or miss depending upon who and when.We dont often ask for help but last time we were there we needed some assistance finding a particular part. We approached a group of employees who seemed to disperse once they realized we had a question. One gentleman did eventually come over and help us find what we needed. On another occasion we were helped by a gentleman in the freezer/refrigerator section. I cant remember his name but he was a dark haired gentleman from Brooklyn. He was very kind and helped us when we needed help picking out a freezer and came out of his dept to also help us pick out a door. For the most part, this is a wonderful store.

2022-05-31I just want to give Lowes a shout out for the EXCELLENT service I got from Sales Specialist Mr. Sean Cummins!I went to Lowes in Cortland today looking to replace a hinge from a screen door I bought there a few years ago and found out I could not buy one and would have to re-drill my door hinges to fit what was available. He said, “ wait let me see what is kicking around.” He went through drawers, moved boxes, searched shelves and low and behold he found the hinge I needed in a parts box! Then, he just gave it to me!It’s guys like Sean that keep me coming back to Lowes!! I need to bake him cookies!!

2022-03-05You know what youre getting into. Do they have what you need? Maybe, but if not they probably have something that will work. Be sure to pick out your own lumber!

2021-11-16Only giving two stars for the cashier who helped me find the right unit and the price for the unit was good the negativity of this review falls upon the installation team. Do not go through Lowes for installation at least not of a water heater. I purchased the water heater AND installation, they dropped off the water heater. did not call me or knock on my door to start the quote for installing. when I called the representative they said that someone didnt update my file to include the installation so they thought they were just delivering. after being transferred about seven times and put on hold God knows how many times; I finally got another representative who was just going to start a new service call and she told me that it would be $775 to install the new water heater. I told her that she could forget about it and I would figure it out. sure enough, I called around to about 10 different plumbers in my area. since I already have the new heater their prices ranged around $150 to $200. Been without water for 3 days, 4 months pregnant, and about ready to lose my mind.
