Great place, tasty food, worthy level of service. My husband was so astonishing with wagyu, I can’t say the same about my pasta de bologna. Very small portion, I am small girl but I was really hungry after it ( This is one thing, that I would like to change. And fake flowers near the bars zone
Great fine dining. The staff was both friendly and professional, everyone was very helpful regardless of if they were waiting you. They have a a good wine selection, I recommend anything red. I had the opportunity to try multiple plates that were all superb in taste. Everything was freshly prepared and had tons of flavors. I recommend anything I had (see photos). They are definitely on there way to obtaining Michelin status.
I can’t say enough about this place. Best homemade pasta I have ever had. Great wine selection. Truly felt like you were dining in Italy. The best waitress we have had also. Alexandria was passionate about her job and the food she was serving, she took the time to educate us on the different menu items and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. Definitely check this place out and make sure you ask for her!!!
First of all, the staff is great. Despite Covid they’re knowledgeable, swift and warm. However, the food was disappointing. I was prepared for great Italian fine dining and got mediocre overpriced pasta on plates with an 80s aesthetic. The carbonara was almost flavorless except for pepper. The gnocchi with truffles- the gnocchi were over cooked! I won’t be returning.
Just a small snapshot of the fantastic dinner we had at Lucciola! Who wouldve thought there would be such a hidden gem in the UWS for fine dining without the pretentiousness and with an incredible wine list. But its the food and service here thats next level, our server Elio was charismatic and knowledgable, making for a wonderful dinner! Highly recommend the truffle & burrata pizza to start and the truffle, wagyu & caviar tagliatelle - the tri-fecta umami!
Fantastic, the finest salmon tartare and white truffle pinsa, spaghetti bottarga with caviar and uni, and wagyu filet mignon… the only thing more amazing was the experience we had with our sommelier/serveur Elio, pairing our meal with great Italian wines. Thank you for a wonderful meal and experience that took us back to our travels in northern Italy, Sicily and Sardinia.
Lucciola is one of the best authentic Italian restaurants in New York City and is a ‘must visit’ for Italian fine dining. It was such a pleasure to dine here as my wife and I enjoyed the delicious appetizers, pasta dishes, and desserts created by Chef Michele Casadei Massari. Our waiter, Elio, was excellent. He assisted us with the menu and made suggestions for pairing food and wine. We definitely recommend Lucciola!
F I could give it 6 stars I gladly would. Far and away one of the best Italian restaurants on the planet. And I have been to some of the best in the US, Italy, and elsewhere. The is food outstanding and the service is beyond excellent! Elio (from Catania, Sicily) , our server, was absolutely non-pareil both in knowledge of Italian food & wines as well as attention to detail. If you are looking for top notch Italian food and service this is your go to place.
We celebrated at Lucciola my daughters Columbia graduation and everything was perfect. It was a warm night and we had the chance to sit in a comfy bubble just for us - talking about being safe these days - where we enjoyed a few bottles of champagne while eating amazing dishes. My favorite? The spaghettone bottarga, caviar and Uni. My wife instead really loved the passateli a plate that we didnt get the chance to enjoy since we were in Italy a few years ago! Lucciola is perfect for special occasions! The staff really takes care of everything and makes you feel very important, Eleonora, was super helpful!
We went last weekend for a quick bite before a Broadway show and even if we didn’t have so much time they accommodated us right away. We shared two great Vermentino for Liguria and a pinsa with truffle burrata and it was amazing. Our server Alexandra was bubbly and very knowledgeable about wine. Here are some of the snapshots that I was able to capture.Trully enjoyed, and will be coming back, thank you!
One of the most authentic Italian food I had in New York City. I tried the Japanese Wagyu and my husband got the gnocchi with truffle and they really were something else! Amazing. Our waiter Alexandra truly made our experience unforgettable and the Chef made us feel so special! We will be back! We were sited in one of the outside bubble and we felt safe and warm.
In such a long time me and my girlfriend were not on a date night, of course we choose a snow day for! Well, worthy the effort to go out with such a terrible weather, we were welcomed home like in Italian kitchen were all the great smell and ambiance anticipate what a great meal we were on route to have, great start, great dinner and the sweetest and most carrying waiting service ever experienced in NYC. We had a “colossal” pasta with colossal crab king, unique. An amazing juicy hanger steak wagyu and suggested pairing by alexandra was a Calabrese wine named GB, what a punch!!! End of dinner : cappuccino spoon proof and tiramisu, since they were quoted on Eater as one of the best in town, loved it, not sure we ver had this kind of tiramisu, it was airy, not too sweet and felt made at the order for us, kind of really fun and super fresh! over great experience especially if you are from Abruzzo Italy and just got back from Italy and you still crave for pasta!
Visited on a Saturday evening and was able to secure an indoor table last minute, which was amazing.2-April-22Staff was helpful and attentive during the seating/coat check and initial water process. Our sever Anelle was fantastic. Knowledgeable, attentive and a perfect guide for our evening. We had a fantastic vintage wine and the tasting menu for two which was superb:We had a show after and I was worried on time, even with the tasting menu the staff was able to quickly turn around the multiple courses, which again where great! We look forward to our next visit and highly recommend if you haven’t tried!
Lucciola provided an incredible experience for my fiancé and I who were celebrating our 10 year anniversary. Eleonora and her team were able to put together a beautiful set-up while we ate dinner. She was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process and made sure everything worked out. Our waitress Alexandra provided amazingly kind service and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and taught us so much about the cuisine. She helped us pick out a wonderful bottle of champagne that we loved. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to celebrate or have a date night in the city!
I go to Lucciola for consistency of surprise: I may have the spaghetti bottarga five nights in a row —and be surprised by it each time. Incredible. I could eat there blindfolded. I don’t know how to talk about the wine in the same thought , except to say they serve stories by the bottle.
A must!! We had an amazing dinner experience! Great authentic food… oh so good! And our server Elio , superphenomenal - on point recommendations and very knowledgeable. He made the whole experience so much more special - definitely a memorable evening. Highly recommend. We will be back!
Excellent meal, excellent service. We had the zucchini with burrata, which was elegant and delicious. We followed with tortellini and shaved parm, which was authentic and clearly made with great attention and care. We also had the boneless Wagyu ribeye—absolutely gorgeous, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. Service was very attentive, especially Alexandra our waitress. She sent us Vin Santo on the house! Wonderful experience.
Returning to NYC after spending almost 2 weeks touring Italy, I was desperately craving a real authentic Italian meal. A friend highly recommended Lucciola so I decided to give it a try.. and all I can say is WOW! What a meal! Everything was perfection from start to finish. First when we arrived we were sat in a table that was inside in individual pod making it very covid safe !Then our server Alexandra came by to discuss the menu with us… she was so delightful and passionate about the menu that hearing her describe each dish made me want to order everything on the menu! But after careful deliberation, I went with the Lobster Tagliatelle and Spaghettone. Both were cooked al dente and paired with the perfect complementary of sauce.. I was in pasta heaven!!!I highly recommend to anyone looking to satisfy that urge for a truly authentic Italian dining experience!!
I went alone tonight after I red about the chef on the NYpost, wanted to try his truffle dishes, great experiences, i was alone outside and they took great care of me, what a great treat! The home made Tortellini are so so authentic and tiny, made me think of a Bologna trattoria in the winter nights when i was a student visiting. Best Italian Restaurant and Best Pasta I had since I was living in Milano Italy, very generous truffle shave despite the huge cost surge asI red today on the newspaper and I was confirmed at the table , worth the trip and prices, good job!
I’ve never wrote a review, but, there is a but, this time I was moved to, probably the worst night to go to a dinner, we did plan for so long that despite weather, wind, rain and alerts we did decide to go, we had to call to check if they were open, the answered with a kind voice telling: yes we are but if you prefer to reschedule just let us know we understand how the weather is. In 2021 such a kindness and customer oriented answer feels warm , the warmer it could be in a night of friendship and get together of a group that decide to meet in the cutest restaurant of the block. Since we arrived we were welcomed and felt so so warm we basically had all the restaurant for us and a couple of table more ut of a total of maybe 20 chairs, so so cute and charming, so Italian ! Lots of Parmigiano Reggiano to the point they have a full wheel with the face of the chef on top!!! After being debrief about all the specials and their “must try” we got a few minutes to think and decided to go with the famous truffle pizza for state to share, then tortellini and gnocchi with white truffle, following we got burrito and prosciutto di parma aged about 900 days, we didn’t know was even existing, tasted great not sure if any better than another good prosciutto, but washtub cut and great smell and color, so we loved, all paired with a Bottle of Niiccolis Amarone, felt a perfect pair, when we ordered the wine our glasses were sort of upgraded to a thinner lighter version , decision of the chef and owner hims self, greeting at the table and telling us how he loves to match proper glasses with wines, a sort of pairing of the pairing, how fun! Dinner was above any expectation, service was classy and solid, waiters very very knowledgeable, kudos kids! We were told they are doing their best to achieve their dream: Michelin StarNot sure if this I’m writing will help for, but would be so great to think of that my first and probably only review will help for, fingers crossed keep up the amazing work of passion and all you have, luccila his in our hearts, we’ll be back for more! Proud Chef and owner, yes the tortellini form your hometown were delicious as anticipated.
My brother recently graduated from college and we celebrate at Lucciola with the whole family. Let me tell you, it is not disappointing! The wine list is so extensive that I was able to find one bottle that I had in Italy years and years ago. I couldn’t believe it! Alex, our great server, paired with great steak and meat based pasta. We will remember this special occasion for a very long time. Not to mention our hostess Eleonora she was very welcoming
Me and my gf got engaged and went out to celebrate. The food was great and the service was even better. When they heard about our engagement they got us a dessert and two glasses of champagne on the house which was very nice of them! We initially sat inside, which I would not recommend because the kitchen doesnt have good ventilation so the smoke gets into the restaurant itself which is very disturbing (my eyes were watering). We asked to move outside and they moved us and were very nice about it. Very recommended place!
What an amazing restaurant with a super talented chef. I highly recommend you try this place and make it a favorite while your at it!! Beautiful place with a great atmosphere. Drinks are great, staff and service is very good. Highly attentive server and bartender. One of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan.
Some of the best food Ive had anywhere in the city. Specifically the Zucchini Burrata is one of the best dishes Ive had. The homemade pasta is also top tier. Really feels like a fully authentic Italian meal.Anelle on the wait staff was very knowledgeable, took great care of us, and gave wonderful recommendations for food and wine (of which their selections are extensive) based on our questions.Honestly the only downside is the location of the restaurant isnt near much else and the street view isnt amazing if eating outdoors when the weather is nice. The restaurant itself is phenomenal though and well worth the visit.
We booked at Lucciola because I had an offer through Amex.I had really high expectations from the place because of the high reviews so I was excited to try. Which is also why Im leaving such detailed reviewAt arrival my first disappointment was the location which was dark and quite frankly smelled a little, I later learned was because of the kitchen. At one point the quantity of smoke in the air was really tough for me to tolerate. On the bright side the menu was extremely interesting. We ordered sea plate, burrata and spaghettone plus two desserts. My husband and I eat a lot outside so we were super excited to try these dishes. My votes are- sea plate 3 (not worth the price)- burrata 3 (I tried better once in NY)- spaghettone (solid 5+++ this plate was outstanding)- creme brulee and chocolate budino 4The real shock for me was the bill. We spent 300$ (two glasses of wine so not even a bottle). A bit too much compared to same segment in the city. The personnel is really good, everyone is kind and welcoming. Really good people.Net net our experience was ok. The smoke from the kitchen was the factor the really really annoyed me. My eyes at one point were burning. The chef though is INCREDIBLE. The pasta dishes are so worth it!!!!
Lucciola is the place to go for a special night out. Elio, our server, was both informative about the menu and charming as well. The pizza is a must order. It is among my top five most delicious foods I’ve ever eaten. Share it though, because more good food is coming. If you are dining with a friend/partner, I recommend each person getting the pasta dish they want, and then sharing a protein. Splurge on the wine!
I truly believe this is the best Italian food I have had in the city! What started as a curious neighborhood walk-in, has now turned into a monthly ritual!First of all TRUFFLES!!! Need I say more?! Most of their dishes consist of the freshest and tastiest truffles I have ever had in my life. They add such a unique flavor to the meal that is just irresistible. Additionally, being a traditional Italian restaurant, most of their ingredients are imported direct from the source in Italy to add to their seasonal dishes, this is also true for their large selection of wines available. The pastas and entrées are so well made that you will never want to have a similar dish at any other restaurant. The menu truly caters to every type of palate and I guarantee you will find something you love at this place. This is a great space that a family or couple can enjoy a peaceful dinner, whether it be indoors or on their outdoor patio. I am always eager for the opportunity to invite family or friends to this place because they are usually blown away by the quality and richness of the food and service at this place. My fiancée and I found this place around September 2020 and have kept supporting it ever since, knowing that we would never want it to close like many other restaurants in the city due to the pandemic. I hope this review shows you how passionate I am about this place and that you love it as much as I do!
Luciolla is an AMAZING restaurant to come to when looking for authentic Italian cuisine. Each dish is made with as much passion and care as I could hope for.I love the variety of dishes they offer from Italian pasta to Japanese steaks AND another NEW MENU with seafood dishes made into Italian cuisine!!! You can tell all the ingredients are all high quality as well.I brought some close friends of mine and they enjoyed every moment. The waitress Alexandra walked us through the entire menu and was so kind and helpful. She even presented us an Ice Wine from Romania! The energy was amazing. You can tell that the staff OVERALL really LOVE what they do in the hospitality industry. Luciolla is definitely a Michelin Star worthy restaurant! I can’t wait to come back and bring family!
Amazing restaurant!!! We really enjoyed the food and the service was absolutely perfect!!! From the bread you get at the start of your meal to your last bite, I enjoyed every bit!! Our server Renatto was fabulous, he knows the menu very well, and was very helpful, and attentive. I would love to return!
Love Lucciola. The menu is incredible as well as the wine list. The balanzoni (spinach tortelloni filled with martadella and ricotta) are unreal, as well as the squid ink tortelli with lobster tail. The Rosso di Montalcino by the glass and the espresso by Filicori coffee completed the experience.Chef Michele Massari and the sommelier Alberto Ghezzi really nailed it.. 👏👏👏👏👏
I had the Tagliatelle Al Ragu Bologonese which was quite good and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We were also able to walk in without a reservation around 6pm on a Wednesday. It would be better to make a reservation.Personally, I thought the food was just okay. I loved the texture of the pasta, but I felt like the flavor of my dish was lacking and it wasnt hot. Additionally, the plate was $27 for a pretty small serving. I think some of the ingredients are imported from Italy and the ones that arent are locally sourced, so that could contribute to the price. Having been to Italy before, the pasta seems comparable, the flavor not so much.TL;DR: Lucciola was good enough to try, I wouldnt go back.
Just finished a wonderful dinner at Lucciola. The flavors were authentic and full-bodied, and the atmosphere was very nice. Note, they incorporate very high-end ingredients in their dishes, so expect to pay a little more than you are use to for similarly named dishes at other Italian resaurants.Elio was our server, and he was excellent, great recommendations and a very nice personality.
Amazing dining experience, the food was traditional and authentic. Alexandra was pleasant and knowledgable, she recommended the sfoglino tasting menu which did not disappoint. Everything about this meal was unique and unlike any other dining experience Ive had. Will definitely be coming back.
Food was good, service was good, guess I expected too much when I saw 4.9⭐️. Everything was good but nothing spectacular.I recently visited for my birthday dinner, mentioned that it’s my birthday upon reservation. No one said anything to me, no dessert plate or no even a candle on tiramisu I ordered while they served something(I didn’t see) with candles and happy birthday song for other table.Maybe because it was Saturday night, I felt they were rushing. We still had one focaccia on the plate but the bus boy came in to our bubble to ask if he can take the plates. I understand there’s 2 hours limitation but still I did not appreciate that.Way too much sauce on the steak that I thought I ordered wrong, also they brought me wrong octopus dish but I didn’t mind the one the brought with pasta so I didn’t say anything.Over all, cute bubbles and tent (seems very tight but cozy) even on a snow day, it wasn’t cold at all. I would be back again but might not be for special occasion.
(Not sure why there are so many fake/robot Google reviews for Lucciola, they certainly don’t need it.)Excellent food and service. We celebrated my husband’s birthday here and were really pleased with the whole experience. The seasonal king crab leg risotto with white truffle was HUGE and absolutely delicious. The tagliatelle ragu was just OK. We were very comfortable inside our bubble seating despite the cold, rainy weather outside. Tables/bubbles are very spaced out and it feels very safe. Will definitely be back for happy hours and special occasions!
We decided to try this restaurant based on its reviews - we were very disappointed.Beware of the reviews of this restaurant.-over 50% of the reviewers on Google have 2 or less reviews…. That seems shady, especially after reading the reviews…🧐-Prices are absolutely insane - I ‘m ok with high end, but there prices are just “uncalled” for.-This restaurant was previously reasonably priced, now they have lost their minds.-waitress was extremely pushy about ordering appetizers… a bit uncomfortable.-they talk about trying to get a Michelin star… we waited over 1 hour after placing our order to get our food.. told us they are short staffed… at these prices you shouldn’t be short staffed. Btw there was like 4 tables in the whole restaurant.-my family all ate at separate times, as the food came out 1 dish at a time — Michelin would laugh at you for this. Not to mention some of the dishes being cold.-since we waited so long the chef sent out a salad the size of my palm for a table of 6… what a joke.We will definitely not be returning. There are MUCH better options out there!
We had a wonderful and delicious dinner. The pasta was very flavorful with the fresh truffle and cheese. All ingredients were imported direct from Italy, and their local sources. The wagu steak was seasoned to perfection. The wine selection was fantastic, and the tiramisu was the perfect way to end the meal. Our server Anelle was very knowledgeable and attentive. We will be back to this fine dining Italian establishment on the UWS.
Amazing food in an authentic Italian atmosphere! Chef Michele over to be a great Chef has a great knowledge of Italian food and of regional specialities! Every dish has a story and you will listen every story from Elio or Chef Michele that will turn your dinner to an authentic culinary experience! A MUST if you are in the City!!
We stumbled on the restaurant last evening when we could not get into The Mermaid Inn we ventured somewhere else and had something but what we had was just not that good. Still feeling un satisfied we continued to search a suitable spot to warm up and get some food.Had it not been cold and windy I may have never ventured into Lucciola. I am pretty tired of mostly going to Italian restaurants. I am not into Wagyu or Truffles which at first glance of the menu seems to be the primary focus. The prices, again at first glance seemed high for diners seeking refuge from the cold with some warm comfort food. Logic dictated that this was not a spot for for me.Logic was wrong, our guide for the evening was Elio (our waiter) who made what was supposed to be a quick in and out of the city with a stop for food into a very special night. The food and wine that Elio guided us into were simply superb. We had the Zucchini and Burrata appetizer, then on to the Tagliatelle and the Carbonara. The recommended wine was wonderful and a bargain. The star of the evening ended up being the Tiramisu`. The last thing I wanted or needed. Its seem boring to order and to hear every waiter say theirs is the best! Elio said it was better than his grand mothers. I cannot attest to that BUT it was the best I have ever had at any restaurant.I did not read any reviews prior to eating there so it was such a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere, food, service we all wonderful and all things considered it was such a bargain to feel transported to Bologna for a few hours. I will be back as this is a truly special restaurant, especially after the past 2 years its nice to have found this gem.
Lucciola is definitely on my top 5 favorite restaurants in NYC. Every single dish was fantastic, and the staff is super kind. I would recommend the fresh truffle burrata pinsa and the passatelli alla crema di parmigiani (although everything on the menu is excellent). The tiramisu is also a must-have. Our server, Anelle, was so sweet and made our dining experience even better!
We had the baked zucchini, tried the duck, carbonara, and tagliatelle pasta, steak, and tiramisu. Every single ingredient was high quality and even something as simple as balsamic vinegar made such a huge difference for the steak. Our server Anelle was so knowledgeable and spot on with her recommendations!
Lucciola is my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. Chef @michelecasadeimassari only imports the freshest and most authentic ingredients straight from Italy. His flavor profiles are incredibly and uniquely Italian and his wait staff, specifically, Elio, is a fountain of knowledge and shares his passion for this incredible food. We started with the fabulous Fresh Truffle and Burrata DOP Fasano Pinsa which brought me back to Naples and Torino. Then we proceeded with the amazing Spaghetti Fresh Cacio Pepe with freshly shaved white truffles- a treat! We also had the Passatelli Alla Crema Di Parmagiano Reggiano- a very rich yet delectable dish. And Chef let us try the most unique pasta dish I have tasted. The Spaghettone Bottarga Borealis, Caviar and Uni- he so deftly and delicately created this incredible dish with just a touch of the sea, using anchovy caviar, and delicately blending the sea urchin throughout the dish. It was like enjoying the finest caviar, flavor-wise. He also offers a super delicious gluten-free pasta which is unparalleled in flavor. Tray yourself and get here soon!
During COVID-19, we sit in the individual clear tent, service was great. Main courses were black truffles tagliatelle duck rillette and 60 days dry aged French ribeye, both were great. However, appetizers octopus was either overcook or too old. It was not that fresh and slightly cold. Dessert was big disappointed. Creme brulee was cold and top was burned.
Our dining experience here—eating fancy Italian food in a two-person camping tent under a party tent facing Amsterdam Avenue—was A+ if only for the novelty. I’m glad I got that pandemic experience. And our fresh shaved truffle burrata pinsa (shaved truffles over burrata and tapenade on crispy flatbread) was a beautiful appetizer. We thought our pasta main courses (tagliatelle al ragù bolognese and passatelli alla crema di parmagiano reggiano PDO) we’re good but not great, and on the whole not quite worth the cost. Might go back just for the appetizer, which really was memorable.
Warm-hearted service + heated outdoor bubbles! Its tough in the restaurant business in NYC right now - so Lucciolas efforts to make their heart-warming food and excellent wine list accessible despite COVID-19 and the weather are all the more appreciated.I love their food - an eclectic mix of excellent, authentic pizzas, weather-busting pastas and some excellent entrees... not to mention one of the best Creme Brulees Ive had anywhere. Indeed on my most recent visit celebrating my sons birthday, we had to go for double dessert! Now to the bubbles - these work really well and are now even heated. Just make sure you have warm footwear and keep the entry zipped up if its cold. It was sub zero outside, but with sensible clothing we were more than warm enough in our bubble for eight.Couldnt recommend it more - thank you all so much!
This restaurant deserves three Michelin stars! The food is the best quality we’ve had in nyc. Our waitress Alexandra remembered us from months ago when we first came here. She is an absolute gem. She is knowledgeable about every wine and item on the menu and makes you feel like family. We highly recommend the white truffle tasting menu. We will definitely be back soon.
Food is good, prices are unreasonably high and the Patio seating is very cold. The Staff members are very attentive. Kitchen messed up on our pizza order but they responded quickly and resolved the matter in minutes! The lack of heat and the unreasonable prices is the only concern.
Recently had the pleasure to savor the spaghetti bottarga at lucciola in nyc. What a treat! And even better, our server Jessi was fantastic. Helping us understand the menu choices, his knowledge of the food, and his attention to detail is second to none! Go to lucciola and ask for Jessi... you’ll be glad you did!
The real deal! Best Italian food in New York, and America! I’ve been to Italy many times and Lucciola’s pasta tastes exactly like what I’ve had there! Steak was phenomenal too! Better then many 5 star steakhouses I’ve been to. And our waiter Elio was so warm and hospitable, a true Italian gentleman, which made the experience that much more enjoyable! They should definitely be Michelin star!
I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the dishes recommended by Alexandra. I had a 3 course meal, with a couple of beers. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. Ideal for those who want a romantic night out. I will definitely come back with the first occasion!
Best Italian Restaurant, authentic fromthe region of Emilia Romagna, hand made tortellini, tagliatel and tortelloni and all of that, great wines, suoerb service , feels being back in Italy, perfect for a dinner experience in the name of quality, wine paieing, story telling and leanring a bit more of the northen of Italy cusine and very intereting meat varaiety, lots form Japan and tons of caviar and white truffle, very unexpected for an UWS restaurant, not sure how many will adventure up here budlt definetely worth the trip, even better if you love eating local food with a great che behind
Ok, lets just get this out of the way, the place is a bit pricey, for a three course dinner, we spent $100/pp on wine + cocktails and $100/pp on food/tax/tip). But if you are looking for a special occasion type of place, with truly amazing food, attentive, sincere staff genuinely interested in delving a great experience engaging when they rightly detected we needed some help and left us alone when we didnt, then this is your place. (And, if like us you are covid-cautious - then add a + for the outdoor experience even in 10F degree/windy conditions). Wine list is extensive and the staff has great knowledge across the list (they have opinions and are wiling to offer them!) and around 2x retail which is a bargain in Manhattan. We ran out of room and so never sampled desserts, a reason to return. But did have some space left for dessert wines which were tasty as well.
My partner and I had Lucciola on our restaurant list for some time and finally scheduled a date night. We sat indoors and really enjoyed the intimate setting. As first timers, we were somewhat intimidated by the menu but our server, Elio, did a magnificent job at giving detailed descriptions of the menu items. The food was great: very simple but very satisfying. Overall, we really enjoyed our time. We will be making plans to return in the near future!
First of all, you are welcomed by the amazing staff who are super friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was warm throughout. We had the pleasure of having Elio as our waiter who went above and beyond to give the authentic Italian experience. He asked at the beginning if we had any allergies or food restrictions, and actually cared about it! This rarely happens these days most restaurants rely on you doing your own research! But not here. They CARE about your experience. He walked us through the menu and explained all the different dishes available according to our preferences. We went with the truffle burrata pinsa which was great! I loved it. My wife doesn’t like burrata and she admitted is was good! We then had the caccio pepe with white truffle. Best. Pasta. I’ve ever had in my life. We finished our night with an amazing japnese wagyu steak, cooked medium-rare, perfectly seasoned and tender. The side was the potato gruttin which my wife enjoyed while I devoured the steak.10/10 best Italian place I’ve been to in NYC (sorry Serafina! Someone finally beat ya). The experience, service from Elio, atmosphere, and food is unparalleled.I would definitely come again!
Amazing wine, food but best customer service. The Chef took upon him self to provide us with the best experience. Help to pair the wine choice with our food. They made us feel special!! Thank you very muchWe will be sure to make a recurrent visit every time we are in New York City
5/5 - great food, great atmosphere, and great staff. Incredibly authentic Italian with elegantly presented and dishes that have so much depth. Would return again for sure. Had a great experience with Alexandria as our waitress, she was super knowledgeable and gave us thorough detail about all of our courses. Looking forward to our next visit!
I can only scratch the surface on what an incredible experience it is to come into this restaurant for a meal. What I thought would be a great meal evolved into something more, I truly left the restaurant feeling like I was the most important person they have served and Ive never been here! The food is amazing, but the service staring with our server Elio is what truly sets this place apart. Elio provided excellent recommendations, and went so far above and beyond you have to experience it to understand. If you are exploring Italian food in the area, you will absolutely not go wrong here and you will have so much more than just an amazing, authentic Italian meal.
We had dinner there last night, anticipating a wonderful experience based on the reviews. Unfortunately, we were very disappoint for the following reasons.1. I was the first to arrive, for a party of two. I was dressed casual smart. I requested to sit at a particular section. Mind you I have reservations. The maitred I.e. the person in charge of seating the customers refused, saying that there is a party. As the evening wore on, I noticed that She seated other better dressed couples at the section which I requested. Noticing this, i felt that she had treated my request unfairly. By the way, the party was in a completely different section. Hence her excuse to me held no substance.2. The food was rather bland, and was only so so. However they try to elevate their food to a higher level by claiming that the the ingredients come from different regions of Italy. I frankly could not discern any difference, that justifies their exorbitant prices. Hahaha. It is a pure marketing gimmick.3. The table that they seated us was ...hmmm beneath the level of a 2 star restaurant. A table totally without charm...a complete opposite of those tables inside their restaurant...which the matte d refused to sit us either. Our table felt like eating at a Diner. Except that it is multiple times more expensive at this restaurant.4. We requested for forks for our desserts. Our waiter has the audacity to tell us that you cannot eat this with a fork. Just bring it. It is not her place to tell us what we do. We are the paying customers. And yes, one can eat tiramisu with a fork. Try it sometime. All in all, it was a very disappointing experience. We will never go back again to this hoity-toity restaurant. Totally charmless. Slight contempt, very expensive. ( special pasta with one stone crab claw and shrimp = $69.00).
Excellent Italian on the UWS. Service and food was superb starting with the hostess/manager moving us inside because it’s so hot in the city. Our server Elio was phenomenal. His storytelling of the food made us feel like we’re in Italy. The charcuterie board rivaled any we’ve had in Europe. The pastas were homemade and delicious. Cannot wait to come in the fall and try the white truffles. On a final note, the background Elio gave us on Bologna and the chef only made the truffles taste better. A true gem.
Great atmosphere, a special place where you can learn about food, wine and Italian design. Michele is a star and a waterfall of energy and knowledge. A foodie epicentre in the upper Manhattan, highly recommended. Alexandra, our waiter added warmth, friendly yet professional service, 5 stars all around
Had the best time; the restaurant was as close to a true Italian dining experience as you can possibly have outside of Italy. Really enjoyed the evening, and especially Elio, who spent so much time talking with us about our selections and wines. We cannot wait to return!
Just had dinner with my friend tonight in this beautiful italian place . The ambience was cozy and the service was incredible !!! Everybody was so attentive and made us feel like VIP s . From the hostess to the servers, Chef, everything was excellent ! The food is outstanding and for sure unforgettable, I wish my plate was never ending.I will high recommend this restaurant.
A true authentic Italian experience. I come from just outside Bologna in Italy and I miss the cuisine of my home town dearly. Going to Lucciola was truly like being back home, the handmade tortellini were just like grandma used to make but elevated to new heights thanks to chef Michele Casadei Massari. His skill, expertise and friendly demeanor provide a fine dining experience that also makes you feel like you’re at home amongst friends. The highly curated ambiance and the attention to detail makes Lucciola a unique place in which to enjoy a really amazing meal. Impeccable service. Ten out of ten.
Lucciola was amazing, one of the best Italian I’ve ever had! The service is amazing and the quality of the food is spot on. Every dish we ordered was fantastic. I could definitely come back again. Elio was our waiter and took care of us very well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone I know.👏Thank you so much for the best experience.
Lucciola is one of my favorite places. Elio always makes us feel at home. It has a great wine selection and the food is excellent and authentic. In general, I avoid Italian restaurants in the US because I’m gluten free; however, Lucciola has a large selection for gluten free guests ( like restaurants in Italy).
The best Italian restaurant in NYC! Food, ambiance and staff are divine. Alexandra is a gracious and delightful maitre’d and chef/owner Michele uses the best ingredients in his superb cuisine. Will return often for the wagyu steak and pasta topped with white truffles.
Dining last night in Lucciola it was a great experience , from stepping into the bubble, the dinner went like an authentic journey to Italy. The selection of wine and food definitely it’s outstanding and thanks to Alexandra which explained and guided us through the menu, we went for the black truffle pinsa ( which was my favourite, something really unique) the yummy tagliatelle with lobster and spaghetti bottarga.Definitely 5 stars and recommend it for everyone looking for a fine dining , great ambiance and top service !
Loved this place when I came to NYC for vacation. This place was highly recommended from a friend. I ordered the cacio pepe white truffle and it was one of the best Italian dishes I’ve ever had. The wine list was great and I ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon to pair with my dinner. Alexandra took care of us and her service and knowledge of the menu was amazing!
“I was here last week and it was a wonderful experience. The handmade tortelloni were one of the best I tried outside of Italy. Our server Jessie was attentive and fun to talk to. He suggested us the best wine for our dinner. The wines list is massive, there is no italian label that you will not find!
It was yesterday, September 1, and a historical weather event was in progress. We had a reservation for 5, 3 adults, 2 teenage girls. They wouldn’t let us cancel despite the adverse extreme weather conditions unless we paid a $40 per person cancellation fee. So we went (none of us live close by). I was shocked by the prices. The average price for a pasta dish was $39!!! Pasta!! Pasta pomodore (for the uninitiated spaghetti and tomato sauce) was $25. And that was the cheapest dish on the menu. There was no wine cheaper than $69/ bottle. The Chianti we ordered was at best mediocre. The food was decent but the portions small. My 14-year old ate a sandwich after we got home. The service was decent too although our server talked too much. Was it worth getting drenched for? No! Would I go back? Definitely not! Manhattan has better options.
Great UWS restaurant.I was there last night and I had the amazing tortellini with parmigiano reggiano. Such a treat. Jessy, my sever, was attentive and polite. He suggested me to start with prosciutto and burrata, just like I had in Italy, and paired it with the best wine.I cannot wait to be back!
Came to NY for the first time ever with my girlfriend and Elio helped make dinner a memorable time for both of us. The recommendations were on point and the food itself was even better. A little expensive but every once and a while its no big deal. Definitely will return again.
We don’t normally trek into the city from Westchester County, but we decided since it was our 12 year anniversary, we would make an exception. We came across a restaurant that had over 1000 reviews and thought it may be too good to be true with a 4.9 rating. We were greeted by an amazing server, Elio, who immediately took us through the menu specialties. He was so incredibly knowledgeable about the food selections and the farm to table experience that the restaurant is known for.We don’t traditionally spend the time to write reviews, but we eat out a few times a week and this was by far in all our years worth the accolades of superiority and was certainly one of the best dining experiences. The service was superb and the food was of the highest caliber we have experienced. From appetizer to dessert, and of course the wine, we couldn’t be more pleased. It was a taste of Italy on the upper west side of Manhattan. Thank you Elio!
I have to say the restaurant is hit / miss. Ive had one or two fabulous meals here. However, the night we came, the kitchen was in a state of mediocrity. The lobster pasta dishes were almost tasteless. And, the cacio de pepe was boring. However, the thin cut wagyu was outstanding. Punch line: we spent $1,000 and only 2 out of our party of 5 were happy. Not sure what else to say...
I was a first time tourist to New York, this place was recommended to us by my girlfriends sister who lives near there. We split a few items, truffle burrata, the tortellini, and then the filet. It was the best meal I had on our vacation there. Our waitress Alexandra was rad, and she even had the chef come over and hang out for a bit. We felt like celebrities! We will be back for sure!
This restaurant was one of the best foods and experiences I have had in NYC. our server Elio was amazing!! He gave us a whole experience and was extremely helpful with making food decisions. The porterhouse was like butter, the truffle was perfect, and the pasta was fresh. 10/10 would recommend. Ask for Elio on the way in! Made everything worth it.
If you are looking for real Italian food this is the place for you!Great Italian doc products and amazing service. Our guide for the night, Elio, helped my American friend to pick the right dishes and, with his savoir-faire, convinced me (a sceptical Romagnolo) to try the tagliatelle al ragù (bolognese sauce). I want to thank him, because this dinner reminded me of my home country.P.S. Wine pairing was spectacular! Barolo - Brunello di Montalcino - Amarone... What else?!
I have a great dinner in Lucciola last night. The food was amazing , ( Chef was taking care of every detail on the plate. )For appetizer we have “Black burataa “ and for main course “Chillian Seabass”. Our server Alexandra was super friendly and nice, she was recommended nice wine wich was perfect match with our food. Woow, we definitely gonna come back , and I added this place on my favorite spot.
For an over $500 dinner for 4, this restaurant was very disappointing. A reservation for a table in a “bubble” to be safe but also watch street activities turned into a bubble under an opaque white tent! We felt completely isolated. Service was slow without waiters checking on us for long periods of time. But the worst experience was with the food itself. Each one of us complained from very salty tasteless food that only impressed on the menue. As New Yorkers, we had rarely experienced such disappointing environment and food with a very high price tag.
The foods and drinks were very good and excellent. I thanked this restaurant a lot, for they were perfect when looking for the best quality of food to eat. Even the waiters that get my order was very kind, careful, and accommodating. Besides, it was a great place needs to visit by anyone. By the way, thank you for making my day splendid and wonderful. Great service!
So to start off , the ambience was top class , staff was very friendly , especially Alexandra ,she was very attentive and offered some amazing suggestions . My girl friend and me had a great time , and will deff come back to try that delicious carbonara pasta and that incomparable duck . All in all great experience and I would greatly recommend to anyone looking to trying great Italian food , deff will be back !
Perhaps we went with high expectations because of the 4.9 stars on google but Lucciola really disappointed. We ordered the zucchini parmigiana, 3 cheese tortellini and the spaghetti pomodoro. The zucchini was very watery, tortellini super average and spaghetti literally tasted like someone put canned tomatoes on pasta. For the 50 minutes it took for our plates to come out, the food wasn’t worth it at all.
Worst experience ever. I don’t know how they have a 4.9 on google. Food was the worst I have ever had at a restaurant. Son and his girlfriend ordered the pasta carbonara. They said tasteless. My ragu bolognese was glue-like. The meat had no structure. Almost like it was reconstituted from a powder. Tasted terrible. There are so many wonderful restaurants in the city. Run from this one.
I had a great experience at Lucciola with the staff, the food and our server! We loved Elio, he was very attentive and kind. My husband liked the fresh shaved truffle burrata pinza (we ordered it twice)! All the wine recommendations were on point and Elio knew exactly what we would like based on our taste. Lucciola is definitely one of the best Italian Restaurants I have ever been in New York!
Met a friend here for dinner and I will definitely be back. Our waiter, Jessie, was so friendly and gave us great recommendations on both the food and the wine. The homemade tortellini I could eat everyday. Heaven! The Florentine steak could make a grown man weep. Cooked to perfection. Like I was back in Firenze. Grazie Mille!
Overpriced by a factor x2 ... Not prepared for it.I could only allow myself a Pasta main at $42,As any other normal entree was $79-$90 and up.Yes, there was one dish, salmon at $39. One choice. No salads at all. Starters were nice but $19-$29, We spent way to much on this timed experience.Bill was $240 for 2 with tip. No bottle of wine.I don’t get it. We ate in a pup tent. No desert and we shared a starter with 2 pastas and 2 drinks and one wine. Not enjoyable, as the prices were a turn off to ordering what I actually wanted to eat.
The service at this place is wonderful. But I was very disappointed in the taste of my truffle risotto. I was very hungry that day and was salivating for this dish, one of the most expensive on the menu. But I was disappointed because there was no flavor and seasoning.Maybe next time.
Last night we celebrate my granddaughter’s birthday at Lucciola Italian Restaurant. It was a magic night! Drinks and food were excellent! The perfect combination of the aroma and flavors. Galician octopus was so good that my granddaughter eat it all, the fish and the Ribeye were exceptional. Also the dessert was yummy, gorgeous presentation. Service was great, waitresses are very knowledgeable and make us feel so comfortable. Long story, short It Was A Magic Night! Definitely will be back soon! Thank you!
Lucciola is one of the most authentic and special dining experiences you will have in New York. The food is fresh and prepared with love, as it seems in every bite there is attention to detail and genuine passion behind the food. The service is incredible, especially Elio (our server) who charmed us with his carefully considered recommendations and deep knowledge of ingredients, regions, and the craft of food and wine. We ate and learned at the same time. Grazie Elio!
Lucciola Italian is my favorite restaurant without a doubt! I love the variety of food that you have. In this place, I tried Italian food for the first time, and I loved it! I definitely recommend it for lovers of Italian food. I recommend the Spaghetti Pomodoro ... It is the best!Very good Prices!
A highly recommened spot, one hidden gem! Food is absolutely devine and deserves a Michelin star. One of best restaurant in the area. The food was delicious and beyond my expectations. The drinks accompanied were well balanced as well. Very satisfying and pleasing to the eyes, you can expect to be wowed. The atmosphere and ambiance was perfect. I felt comfortable, the place is polished with a spectacular beautiful view that can really make very great Instagram shots. The interior design is classy, modern and very stylish. To all the teams, you guys should see me around again very soon. Well done!
My father & I had a wonderful dinner at Lucciola yesterday evening and we were particularly impressed by our server Elio who took excellent care of us. Elio explained in great detail the Farm to Table menu, introduced us to orange wines, provided complementary fresh-out-of-the-oven bread in addition to limoncello capping off our meal, and was extremely attentive & engaging throughout. We look forward to returning soon and under Elio’s care!
I love Lucciola Restaurant! It is definitely one of my favorite places. I have eaten at many Italian food places, but this is the best! The food is spectacular and the customer service is very efficient. I recommend it 100%. I recommend the Pomodoro spaghetti. Is incredible!
Fabulous urban oasis in the heart of the Upper West Side. Service is courteous and attentive, menu is full of mouthwatering dishes by chef Michele.Feels like being back in our beloved Italy (and the music keeps the mood and feeling up!).Dont miss the opportunity for a delicious Italian meal, and enjoy a bowl of pasta al fresco!
I went to this restaurant to book a family dinner reservation. I was shocked by how easily and effectively their workers accommodated me. He was really helpful and managed to immediately book me an appointment. The food they gave us was fantastic and tasted like heaven. Many thanks for the warm service.

2022-07-13Last night while visiting NYC we had a chance to get a table for 4 and was the best thing we did while in town! Service, food, presentation, details , ingredients quality and wine list are just amazing! We had a wonderful time and Chef Michele was so kind, knowledgeable and charming we will never forget and come back. Lucciola food speaks by itself for Chef work and passion and detail orientations, such an hidden gem that deserve Michelin star recognition asap! Staff well trained, polite and into what they do, it means a lot these days seeing a restaurant of this kind being in the Upper West Side and being so genuine authentic.

2022-07-08My friends and I had an incredible dining experience at Lucciola. The menu represented the chef’s Italian heritage (specifically his hometown Bologna) and each course was prepared to the highest standard.I specifically want to highlight the staff’s exceptional job during this enjoyable evening: we had entertaining conversations throughout, they crafted cocktails based on what we liked and gave us samples. We mentioned at the beginning that this was our first time in New York and offered us a very special welcome gift in form of a dessert.Overall, an absolute gem of an Italian restaurant, fantastic hospitality and excellent food.

2022-01-11Great dinner experience - amazing Italian food with a very nice wine selection. Elio made the whole experience even better with the great recommendations provided, which were spot on. The restaurant definitely deserves a star, which I am sure they will also get in the future. Highly recommend going there - I will most definitely come back!

2022-05-21This is seriously the best Italian restaurant Ive been to in the states! Everything there is incredible, the wine selection is absolutely insane for a small restaurant. It feels like youre at a small restaurant in Italy and the food is perfect every time. My expectations are always exceeded!

2022-01-08Lucciola is an amazing, authentic Italian restaurant on the Upper West Side. Chef Michele masterfully creates dishes that employ the best on offer for the season. Elio is a phenomenal server who remembers your favorite dishes and always has the best suggestions for food and wine pairings. He elevates the dining experience at Lucciola. Tonight’s dinner was a delicious zucchini parmigiana to start followed by tagliatelle with mushrooms and truffles. Outstanding!

2022-05-25I love this place. Quality food, great service and a feeling of home. My mom and I usually go when she is in town visiting me and everytime Lucciola keeps surprising me. We also request Alex as our server because she knows our tastes and she lets us try new wines recently acquired from the Chef! ! Looking no further and book now!

2022-01-28Had a wonderful experience here! Came with family while they were visiting and we enjoyed dining in an outdoor heated bubble. We ordered a bunch! And it was well worth it.Our waiter was very helpful in suggesting a few wines that would pair the best with everyone’s meal choices. Once we narrowed it to 2 choices, he brought out a sample of both before we committed to a bottle. Extremely helpful because the one I thought I wanted to order ended up being eliminated 🤣We did not feel rushed, courses were brought out with just the right timing in between. It was a very social night! My only complaint was the A5 Waygu ribeye that was ordered was a little tough. Definitely was not worth the 150$ price tag. It did not taste like an A5, especially from Japan. The carbonara was amazing, don’t let the plating fool you, it is a full portion! We also had the hand made cheese tortelloni with pesto and another pasta dish. All were very nice.Everything else was delicious! And a great meal to end the holiday with family.

2022-02-13We had such a great experience at Lucciola. Anelle was an excellent server and guided us to the best tasting combinations of food and wine that we could imagine. We enjoyed the zucchini and burrata(amazing), lobster tagliatelle, spaghetti pomodoro, wagyu hanger steak(which was lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly-very flavorful!), and tiramisu for dessert. Each course was equally delicious, I honestly can say that we enjoyed everything. The atmosphere was relaxed yet upscale, and the heated outdoor bubble was really fun. We will definitely be back to Lucciola soon!
