Looking for good tacos or burritos then I highly recommend this place. I especially enjoyed the panko fish tacos and carne asada burrito with a nice cold side of coke!! It’s right by the imagination playground and across the street from the east river. It’s right on the seaport. Friendly staff and clean place.
Omg, we came here by mistake, and wow what luck we had!!Best tacos 🌮 we ever tasted, and the personnel was patient and kind, though we were skeptical of what to order. The place looks cheap but after the first bite it felt like 5-star restaurant!!If we get back to NYC I am definitely gonna come and eat here!Keep it up!!!
Kitsch place just off the water in Financial District with a very non-New Yorky vibe. For the price, not the best value for money. Happy hour special from 11am - 2pm for 3 tacos for $11.95 plus tax. Kind of pricey ($15 after tip) for nothing spectacular. Food isnt bad, but you can get better takeaway tacos elsewhere for a cheaper price.
The best fresh Mexican food thats just the right side of upscale. Prices are reasonable and the food is extra fresh. I seriously love the panko breaded fish (they bring out the fish per order) burrito or the cajun shrimp (same made to order) burrito, although this, the chicken, the pork, steak etc. are all equally good and available as soft-shelled tacos too. Grab a beer or Jarritos soda and a bag of chips (and a side of guacamole) and this is my go-to lunch spot for the week.
This literal hole in the wall Mexican place serves up delicious tacos, burritos and bowls. Some of the proteins are carne asada, pollo asado, panko fish, and shrimp. Toppings and dressings are included, although you will pay extra for chips and guacamole. Its a small space with very limited seating, but the waterfront park across the street more than makes up for that with great views and people watching.
Watching Kent assemble our taco, burrito and sopa order was like watching an episode of Top Chef. There was no slopping on ingredients here. Each ingredient was perfectly placed as if it were about to be photographed. It was beautiful to look at and it tasted incredible. The green sauce was amazing. I’m hooked. I’ll travel from Brooklyn to go there.
I recently discovered Luchadores, and it’s my 3rd time coming back. I work really close to them and even on my day off I came to get my tacos. The carne asada, short rib, and chicken are my ultimate favorite. Very well seasoned. The staff is really friendly and attentive. They have made it a point to remember me. Kent and his wife are incredible and I’ll definitely be coming back and telling all my friends about it! CHECK THEM OUT! Thank you Luchadores!!!
After a long day out on Governors Island and walking down the piers, came across this little summer hotspot. I had a chicken Taco and a carnitas quesadilla both of which were awesome. The tacos were small but super tasty and the quesadilla was STUFFED to the max. It was super busy when I got here and the one start I took off was due to the extra long wait - but other than that, definitely should give it a try.
Great tasting tacos, burritos, and bowls for dining in or take out. Im a huge fan of the diablo sauce and the chicharron is wonderful. Ordering individual tacos can get expensive - three tacos and a water ran me $20, but the burritos cost under $10; if you want value, get the burrito.
Had my suspicions about this place with how run down it looked. To keep it short, my whole family became SICK in the stomach with diarrhea after eating here and it wasn’t rocket science to figure out this place was the culprit. Burritos never get me sick but this place got all of us in and out the bathroom…a very unpleasant experience. I have suspicions that the food isn’t kept well hot since it is outdoors and the employees seemed to be touching everything with the same gloves. Worst of all the burritos were very average and the tacos were laughably small for 6 dollars. Definitely will never ever come here again
I had the panko fish burrito and was thoroughly impressed. The location is great for taking your food down to the waterfront and eating at one of the many benches. Food was excellent and at a very reasonable cost. They happened to run out of rice when I ordered but it didnt impact the burrito in my opinion.
I was here today and had the chicharrones tacos. They were a little disappointing, I found them soggy and not crispy at all. They had pork rind chips mixed with the meat which I found to be an odd texture. I also had a fish panko taco which I really liked. I also found that the little sprinkling of cotija cheese for $0.75 was just not worth it.
We showed up at 8:50 and we informed the employees we rushed here for food and David lacked compassion and was dismissive. He was very rude telling us he closed early because it was slow. Of course we got upset because of how he was talking to us and he tried to switch it around saying he wasn’t going to serve us because of our attitudes when he initially told us he can’t serve us because they were closing before their scheduled time. They don’t care about their customers at their establishment at all.
The prices are a little higher than Im used to, but its about average for Manhattan. The food itself is very good. And you get your food very quickly. Its kind of set up like if Chipotle was a decent restaurant and had actual Mexican food. Pretty good overall. The lunch special is a burrito and a soda, and the have Jarritos so Ill probably be coming back soon.
Amazing service, good selection of drinks and variety of food. I would highly recommend the horchata and their Mexican grilled corn. Its the best Ive ever had in NYC. During busy times the food can take up to 20 minutes, but it is always worth the wait. Plenty of outdoor seating, on colder days itd be best to get it to go with the limited indoor seating.
My family and I had a blast in Manhattan and to culminate the night we decided to eat at this place which has a different vibe than the rest of NYC. for a second I thought I was somewhere else and I think that because the theme and the size of the place makes you feel like you’re in a small town, but obviously it is located on the middle of a jungle of concrete. I had veggie tacos and to be honest they are the best veggie tacos I have ever tried. Although this place has good things to offer rather than bad ones, there are a few things I did not like. The space is so small and there are so many people packed inside which makes the waiting a living hell. The other bad thing is that this place is far away from my house and I wishe I lived nearby to go there every day. Good job guys!
Good tacos - we had the carne asada (a bit tough) and the Cajun shrimp (excellent). More expensive than Los Tacos No. 1. Two tacos can be enough to be a decent meal. Guacamole is a bit expensive at an additional $2 per taco. The line wasnt long (2 people ahead) but it took 10-15 minutes to get the tacos, partially as the shrimp gets heated up on the grill again before they serve it.
The customer service was excellent. The tacos were a bit overpriced, but maybe its because of the area. Spent almost $30 for 1 shrimp taco, 1 pork taco, 1 order of tortilla chips with cheese sauce we didnt like, a jarritos soda, and a beer. The chicharrón taco was delicious my daughter liked the shrimp taco, but both couldve used a little more meat. I didnt like the cheese sauce that came with the chips at all. It tasted like fake cheese, tomato, and water. They probably should cut down on the amount of water/liquid they add and maybe use a different type of cheese. Overall, I would return because I love the seating is outdoors with a covering that looks like a plastic igloo and the service was great, but I will try the burrito next time.
Wonderful service, I came in last minute on a Saturday night with a group of people and had beautiful service. Although they ran out of almost everything, the sweet and courteous chef, Ken, offered to make me their panko fish taco and it was delicious. He really went out of his way. For that act of courtesy alone, this is the type of business everyone should try to support and emulate. Highly recommend and if you want great service, ask for Ken the Taco Man.
This is a massive surprise I really loved the food. Perfect flavour perfect value for money. This would of got a 5 without question if the staff would of not be as though they were being made to work. The man who was taking the orders was a miserable as they come and the others were similar. Thank heavens the food is the important thing. I would still go back.
They have a three for $12 special on tacos. I got the Panko fish, chicharron, and carne asado. I loved the fish. It was lightly battered and crispy and the fish was flaky. The carne asado was great, too. Very flavorful. The chicharron wasnt what I expected. I thought it was going to be crispy pork skin, but it looked like pulled pork. Id get the carne and fish next time.
Awesome little corner to get some authentic mexican chow at the South Street Seaport. This place is busy but they keep the line moving. Your plate is loaded with greatness for an affordable price. There is a chill atmosphere from the small bar area inside the building to the street side tables and the retro 1960s airstream that sits on the corner. The crowd is normally super relaxed and friendly. Definitely a little gem hidden in the Seaport.
Excellent place for a quick lunch or after-work snacks. The Panko Fish burrito is among the best Ive had. The vegetarian option (Portabello mushrooms) is not as exciting but decent. Expect some wait time (10-15 minutes) during lunch rush hours, especially if its nice outside
Theres a 3 taco lunch special and damn are those tacos tasty! Full of meat and punched with spices. Cover them with some epic sauce and youve got a match for your tongue. The famous cod tacos were a bit bland, so Id recommend you try the others. OR better yet, get a burrito! Theyre so big and so filled with goodness. Carnitas burrito FTW.
Stumbled upon this place by Pier 15 and tacos and burritos neon sign got my attention. I opted for chicharron taco and veggie for my wife with is based off a grilled sliced portabello and other veggies to taste which my wife really liked!. For my inlaws which live in mexico I ordered carne asada nachos with all toppings and 2 tecates. They mentioned meat was well prepared and enjoyed it along with nachos. Good sign. 1 only thing is that I wish chicharron was more a authentic pork rind with salsa verde or Roja rather than a shredded pork consistency. Would do a 4.5 but im confident with a 5 star. Thank you!
One of my favorite spots for quick Mexican dishes like tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and Nachos (not sure if this is traditionally Mexican lol) They operate a quick and tiny assembly line that gets food in your stomach very quickly. The panko fried fish in the burrito is my favorite item on the menu. Pair this with a grapefruit Jarritos and youre in for a great meal.
I am giving this place 1 star just because I cant post a review without ANY star.this used to be a great place with excellent food. not anymore.I waited 30 minutes for 2 tacos.there are 6 (six) people behind the counter getting in each others way3 (three) of them eating their own food literally on top of what they were supposed to serve to clients.only 1 (one) actually preparing food. at a very leisurely pace.dropped guac right back in the container. in plain sight, not even trying to hide it.the tacos were horrible. and by the time i received them they were cold as ice.I decided to try their arroz con leche. disgustingi highly recommend you walk a few blocks more and get really good food.not here.
This place is NOT THE SAME ...What happened?! This was my favorite neighborhood spot. The food was delicious!! We just went back tonight after they reopened and the menu changed for the worse...prices went up, portions are half the size, the short ribs and the regular carnitas are gone. What a bummer. I loved that little place. We went once a week in the summer. I had to get a second dinner after I ate tonight. :(
New owners, same great place. Sure the burritos arent as big as Chipotle but the quality far outpaces most mexican spots across the city. While they were shut down I went everywhere for alternatives but this place is the real deal! Glad it reopened, I will be here weekly as I did the old spot!
Very interesting place, not so big. I was excited to try the food out , but didnt like it as much as I expected to. I do like the idea of the trailer parked outside and you get to eat inside but they only have about 3 tables and it wasnt even cleaned. There are places to sit inside where you order the food but its really small.
This is easily one of my favorite places in the FiDi (Financial District). The burritos are delicious, with fresh ingredients and amazing flavor. They are sizable as well, so you feel as though youve had a full meal and the price was reasonable.Try the Diablo hot sauce. Not terribly hot but a lot of flavor add.The only reason for the lost star is the wait. As I go mid-day for lunch, I have seen the wait get as bad as 45 minutes for a burrito. Its admittedly a tiny place and they are quiet popular ... By product of which is a pretty decent wait for you food.
Came here on a Sunday evening, they were out of shrimp and another protein so we ordered the fish tacos and the steak tacos. Tried to order chicken tortilla soup, which was written on the chalkboard menu but was told, with attitude that its seasonal. Uh ok, then wipe it off your chalkboard menu then? Thats the point of chalkboard. But also, which seasons do you have it then? Such a non-answer.Fish tacos were clearly pre fried, while crispy, it was cold and not pleasant. The steak tacos were ok. Id skip this place, there are way better tacos in Manhattan (Los Tacos No. 1, Tacombi) that are also not $5 each lol.
I was very excited to try this place with the weather finally be nice for siting outside. ButI was very disappointed. I ordered a burrito and some desserts, my friend ordered tacos and chips and Guac. They were out of chips, guacamole, and the roasted corn [which we had suggested as an alternative] we were told this after we ordered and paid. The food was alright, its more for the atmosphere- the place is cute I have to hand it to them, but I was all in all disappointed.
Went to El Luchador in 93 degree heat - it was worth it, IMHO. I got a carnitas taco which was juicy and had nice color on it. Avocado salsa, onions, cilantro and crema were the toppings; ask for double tortillas for a more traditional experience. Trust me, youll need the extra one because they are NOT cheap with the meat and toppings! I had enough filling for two tacos (SCORE!!) and all for $3.95, pretty standard for the city and surprisingly reasonable for FiDi. Love the seating area which faces the South Seaport and the tiny trailer that has seating inside. Definitely a summertime favorite if they finally start serving beer!
Funky hole-in-the-wall style Mexican with cool airstream outside you can eat in. I sat at one of the little tables outside and watched the world go by and admired the view of the tallships. Vegetarian burrito was one of the nicest Ive ever had, big ol portabello mushroom in it and plenty of tasty cheese and seasonings, as well as pick-your-own hot sauces. Very reasonable, especially given the area. Id visit again in a heartbeat.
This place is literally an amazing gem. The great decor that gives off a very chill vibe in a hectic part of town is a pleasant environment to eat this amazing AND cheap food.Definitely recommend it. Do it. Treat yourself.Btw, the horchata is actually good. Really good.
Food is great but waiting for your food takes forever. Ive waited up to 30 minutes once during lunch on a weekday. So keep that in mind if youre planning on coming here during your lunch break. If you go during off-peak hours its still a little slow but should be no more than 10-15 minutes.
Always close early. It’s not even 8pm on a Friday night and they’re closed. This is the third time this week I’ve tried them, and it’s happened in the past as well. They say on their website that they’re open until 10pm. The food is great but they need to get their act together with business hours.
Let me start off by saying I am from Jimenez Chihuahua Which is in Mexico.I literally just finished eating/not eating here...they took their sweet time handing me my food. I saw my quesadilla come off the grill and sit for about 6 min getting cold. Now the food Is HORRIBLE!!! Im from Mexico, the seasoming they used for the Carnitas, Carne Asada was horrible. Not to mention the quesadilla has mushrooms in it. Since when did Mexicanos start using mushrooms for a Quesadilla. Never the last time I checked.Lets put it this way this place makes Chipotle look more and taste more Mexican even down to the guacamole and the crema they use.The only good thing the Green salsa thats it period.People need to start rethinking the fact of using the words Taco and Burrito before you put them on the menu. Take a trip to Jimenez Chihuahua or Ciduad Juarez Hell go to a place called El Ranchero in Irving TX and learn what those things 1st TASTE like and 2nd LOOK like. Learn the art before trying replicate it.Overall this place is a disgrace to my Country and Culture
This is my fav mexican spot ever. They have Luche libre masks everywhere which I was infatuated by! I love wrestling. The place was tiny but the food was delicious. It is walking distance to the watermark bar where you can lounge out, cop a tan and possibly grab a cocktail.
Horribly, horribly slow. Line wasnt long, they just take too long. If you are on a tight NYC timeline, youll just have to skip this one. I ended having to get a refund because my good didnt come out. When I talked to the employee about he clearly showed that he just did not care.

2021-09-28Stop the PRESS! This is a jewel of a small restaurant! We did not know where to eat. We stopped a local who lived in the area and asked what is a good restaurant. She recommended Luchadores. At first, I was concerned, but big surprises come in small packages. The service was great and the food was amazing. Thank you to the local who recommended this. We will be back!

2022-04-06Subscribe to my youtube channel ABoricuaLifeinUSA and Instagram. This is a hard review..its the little things that make me give it that rating. The chicken tortilla soup was great except that it was slightly cold. It needed to be hotter in temperature. Flavor wise was excellent. Large chunks of chicken and the tortillas was crispy. The taco on the other hand was nothing special. It was good, but not great. It needed maybe a spicy sauce. I asked for the spicy sauce and it was mild. Customer service was good. Price was about 12$ for soup and taco. I might go back again..give it a try..

2021-11-09Seriously great food. Love their outdoor picnic-like setup, too. Enjoy the view of Pier 17 or take your food across the street to look out over the water while you enjoy!

2022-02-17This review may be biased by the insane 60 degrees weather I got to enjoy my burrito in during the middle of February. Amazing spot to stop by to grab something quick, fresh and tasty to bring to the pier and eat. I loved it. Will be back again for sure during the warmer months.

2020-11-12The tacos were good. The tortillas were fresh. It is a gloomy day today so not many people around. Ordered and ate quick. They have seating area outside. I saw they have beer and soda as drink options. Also had the chicken tortilla soup, my husband enjoyed it.

2020-11-07Love this place. The food is always so delicious and flavorful.. they have a decent selection of beers to drink with your meal too.. They used to have a vintage RV that you could dine in but with everything understandably that was too small a space. Still love the atmosphere

2021-01-17Convenient location. Right off the pier where in the summers can be very busy and congested. Food is good but not excellent for how much it is worth. $10 for 2 tacos. Ok, as a Mexican we are used to having a traditional balance with meats and condiments. Don’t get me wrong. Food is good. Not bad. But too expensive. If you just got paid or don’t worry about your wallet then you should be ok. Otherwise don’t say I didn’t warn you.

2020-08-26We tried the carne asada, pollo asado, cajun shrimp and panko fish tacos and they were delicious! The panko fish was fresh out of the fryer, crispy on the outside and juicy as soon as you bite into it.The shrimp had a nice kick to it. The pollo and carne asada were char grilled and lightly seasoned. It is a popular spot in the neighborhood. Good food at great prices across from the wavertree ship.

2021-04-13Very strange location for a taco spot. Hole in the wall feel, but great tacos. Next to Ipic theater, in South St Seaport, so the views were phenomenal. Tacos were good, but the tortilla soup was amazing
