I was having an issue with my Mastiffs fur, she was shedding a lot and the vet recommended a shampoo for use. I called to check if the store carried it but no. The young lady over the phone was beyond helpful in helping me find a shampoo for my dog. I explained to her what was happening and informed me of an alternative shampoo I could use. I went to the store later that day to purchase it and she started asking me more questions. We got into a conversation about possibly a food allergy which my vet also had mentioned. I must say I love coming to this store. The staff is ALWAYS helpful and never rude. I truly had a wonderful experience there and I am happy to say...that same day I gave my Mastiff a bath and her coat never looked better. It was a drastic change not once did I see her scratch herself. I was very pleased with the results and I cant thank the staff for there sincere help....
I have been using this grooming shop for many years and had been pleased. Then it was difficult getting an appointment, finally got one and when I brought my dog there I was told I dint have an appt. Another customer was there with similar situation. Lately I called at least 3 times and nobody has returned my call..Time to try new shop!
Rita has been with our dogs since the very start and she is just awesome! She sees our dogs quickly and is patient , and always does an exceptional job! Our little fifi looks beautiful and smells great after each grooming session! What they sell in the store is of high quality and markedly cheaper than other stores.
Best groomers ever! I have 2 large dogs who can be a handful and the staff is great with my them. I have even had issues where an emergency bath was needed and they squeezed my dog in to there fully packed schedule. They also had better prices then the other groomer. I have recommended them to many people who have thanked me for sending them there!
I had the worst experience at this excuse of a dog groomers. I have my own clippers at home and clip my poodles coat regularly. About a year ago, our clippers broke and we spent a few months letting his fur grow out before taking him to the groomers. After we picked him up, the staff complained that we have to bring him in every 4-6 weeks because he can get matted if we wait longer. Since then, we bought another clipper and have not needed their services. However, our clippers cord snapped and decided not to let his coat grow out before taking him to the groomers again. When I called to make an appointment, I was informed by the staff that they will not let us book an appointment anymore because we waited too long to bring him in! As the owner of my dog, I think I have the right of deciding when I want to take him to the groomers. They dont know how we care for him at home, and its disgusting that a business will try to blackmail us into using their services more often, then refuse it all together when their requests are not complied with. Since their motto is spend more money here or dont come at all, I will most certainly not be using their services again. I will definitely be sharing my story with friends who use their services as well. As for the owners coming online and claiming some of these reviews are fake, this review is as real as their policy of spend more money here or dont come at all.
I have been coming to this CLEAN & CARING business since they opened and would highly recommend it! I came here following my groomer who came from another facility. They are sympathetic to my puppy mill rescue dogs anxieties and I would not bring her anywhere else! Today I witnessed a groomer coming to the car of a dog owner who could not get out of the car because she had her hip replaced. So she pulled up and they came out to get the dog. Where else would you get that kind of service?
My dog has been here a couple times. The staff is super pleasant and professional. I love that theres a lil store next to it inside where you can pick up treats, toys, clothing and necessities. Really cool and friendly people. They are very gentle and caring with the dogs, and do a great job with the grooming. Very satisfied customer here.
Ive been bringing my dog here for just over a year and she always comes out with a perfect haircut from top to bottom. I feel comfortable dropping her off. My dog can be a handful and its nice to hear when I pick her up that she did great. The girls are always cheerful and their prices are very reasonable.
Tbh Im only writing this review because of how unimpressed I was by another local groomer. I took my puppy Thalia to new hyde bark for her first time getting groomed and they did an amazing job Thalia was clean smelled good and felt softer than any other time Ive felt her and I was beyond happy and it was quick. Unfortunately new hyde barks I believe are closed on Mondays and I took Thalia to another groomer who not only took over 6 hours but also left Thalia looking unclean she had loose fur on her and alot on her leash and they sprayed her down with so much perfume it was overbearing and she wasnt even as soft. Moral of the story always go to new hyde bark
My neighbor recommended this place and weve been bringing our shih tzu here for about 2 years. They are very professional, price is reasonable and the wait time for an appointment is not too bad considering I need weekend appointments. My dog is a little wild - one groomer cut her badly and one said they couldnt deal with her. So Ive been very pleased with this groomer!
I used this grooming service several times by recommendation from my sister who was a longtime customer of the facility. We were very happy with the service we received from this facility especially with the groomer, Melanie. However, I called to make an appointment for my dog today and after giving my name and my dogs name for the appointment, the receptionist by the name of Asia (Im not sure that is the correct spelling) thought she put me on hold and left the receiver off the hook instead.She proceeded to ridicule me regarding a previous conversation I had with another receptionist on a previous call. She was unaware that I heard the whole conversation. When she got back on the phone, I made the appointment anyway and asked if I could speak to her manager. She told me that her manager just left. I then told her that I overheard her ridiculing me and how upset and disgusted I was by her unprofessional behavior. She then apologized without any remorse whatsoever. I was so infuriated by this despicable experience that I called back and cancelled my appointment even though I really appreciated the work of the actual groomer! Word to the wise: if you are going to ridicule a customer, make sure you know the entire story first and the customer doesnt overhear the conversation.
Took pet there for the first time and had a terrible experience. One worker Michelle who was working on my pet did not follow the first set of instructions, and you can tell she did not take her time to clean his face, or even see if his eyelashes, and near his mouth was even. We took the pup back to get him shaved down more and cleaned more that same day, and as my mother and I watched, we saw that she was on the phone taking care of personal business while grooming our dog. All the other workers were taking there time and being patient, and here she was being very nasty and rushing. Once we got home we realized she cut him too low in some areas, cut most of his tail after we specifically said not to, His face was not a clean cut. Overall Michelle was very unprofessional, and we were not pleased with his end result. One of the other workers tried to ask us how often we get him groomed as if that means anything... were the owner, we decide that, he didnt go in there with matted fur or anything, so there shouldve been no issue. Theyll never see us again thats for sure.
I’ve been going to New Hyde Bark groomers for years. My little girl used to get groomed regularly, however they always took hours (4+) to get her done. Due to age and an immune illness, my little girl can not stay for long periods of time so she needs to be seen just for a haircut, nothing more, in and out. After calling for over three weeks for an appointment, and supposedly getting a call back about availability and coordination with the groomer, a call that I never received, I had to call, they finally gave me an appointment with Rosie. From the time I got there Rosie was angry about the appointment and asking me why was I given this appointment, “I told you she has to be a late appointment”, mind you I’ve been calling for three weeks. She continued with “I’ll see her today, but I will not do this again”, flapping her arms around. So basically it’s my fault that they gave me an appointment. When she finished, I tried to talk to her so that we could coordinate an appointment for the future, she said “I don’t have time to talk, I already told you when”. It’s bad business to treat clients this way. I always try to treat people with respect. It’s a basic rule that businesses should always follow. I told the receptionist that I don’t believe that I would be returning. She tried to be accommodating and said that she would scheduled me with another groomer if I’ll like. I’m just not comfortable going back. Rosie complained that she was too busy, well her schedule just opened up, and I suspect that many other clients will go elsewhere due to her bad attitude and unprofessionalism.
Since the original owner sold the shop the new ownership have no idea how to run this business. Drop Dog off at 10Am called at 1:30pm was told dog would not be ready for another hour the Grimmer a little behind three and a half hour unacceptable ask if owner or his wife was around to discuss the matter said he would not be around until friday go figure my dog last day at this unprofessional place.
Horrible new management - they cut my dogs nails which caused him to profusely bleed, and did not share the slightest bit of empathy. The new management is absolutely horrendous, while their previous management was absolutely sublime. My dog is a frequent customer here for the past 8 years and we shall not be going back.AVOID AT ALL COST.
There is no place else I would take my pups! Melanie treats each of them (my three ‘teacup’ Yorkies) as though they are all her own. Most importantly, my pups react very well to Melanie! I would not leave my pups if they showed any hesitation or fear/nervousness when seeing Mel, but they wag their stubby little tails in greeting. High praise indeed!
Been bringing my dogs for years... I have a very large anxious dog who is handled with care and love, this was a first for Sam. Beyond grooming, Sam after a $600.00 vet bill for IBS, Jackie (the owner) provided a homeopathic remedy, immediate results! Who knew a $4.00 can of pumpkin puree - I cant say enough positive things about New Hyde Bark, my dogs get groomed by Mel who is awesome!
Horrible! I brought my dog there as a puppy when they first opened and when I picked her up her legs and paws weren't even groomed! When I asked why they said my dog was very uncooperative and didn't like her paws touched! That was the first I've ever heard of my 6 pound dog being "uncooperative" to me it sounds like a sorry excuse for being in a rush or lazy! And the prices are way too high to have a less then perfect job! And after speaking to several other ex customers of them, I was told that their dog was picked up the same way, the hair all uneven and patchy and the paws not done at all. For over $50 for a tiny dog ill go somewhere else!!
Love this place. I have a 9 year old shih Tzu and they treat him like a king. You can tell they really love dogs. very friendly and not expensive. I would and have recommended them to my friends. They also now sell food, so its a one stop deal. they sell toys and treats too. Love them. :-)
Six months ago I would have given 4,-5 stars, but something has changed there.Rude and not at all professional. Current receptionist has no clue what shes doing. Rosie, the groomer is quick with her barrio attitude characterized by palms at you and hips sideways. They talk about you in front of you in spanish. (Im Hispanic but dont look it, and speak the language fluently).IF THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT HUMAN CLIENTS, HOW ARE THEY TREATING YOUR DOG WHEN NO ONE IS AROUND???
I would strongly suggest not bringing your dog to this dog groomer. The staff is unprofessional and the wait time is absolutely ridiculous. I even heard one of the staff members tell one of the dogs to shut up when he/she was barking. They are very unprofessional and definitely not concerned with the well being of the animals they groom. I am very disappointed and will not be returning.
I was a loyal customer for years under the old owners, but the new ownership has changed my feelings on New Hyde Bark. They changed policies without informing their loyal customers, and the new front desk person was extremely rude when I brought my dog the last time. I will not be going back to New Hyde Bark.
Even though Baby, my shih tzu hasnt been groomed here in a while due to my conflicting schedules. Jackie and Mel are the absolute best! Baby HATES to be groomed however when he walks into NHB his tai starts wagging! They treat Baby like the 👑 He Thinks he is...No complaints here..
BoriKuba is an 8 month old Shichon, who is afraid of clippers. There had been two failed attempts by other establishments, but after corresponding with Larry, I decided to try once more. We stayed in the vicinity fully expecting this encounter to be unsuccessful. To our surprise, Bori was completely done within the hour. WE are very satisfied, will be back, and will spread the word. Thank you!
Most unprofessional!! After paying an exorbitant amount for grooming (they totally overcharge) and never call to confirm appointments or call... Will actually bar u you from bringing in your pets as they failed to do their job and confirm appointments that get made months in advance. Will never work with these people again!
For ME at least...its convenient to be able to drop my dogs off in the morning and pick them up later on in the day instead of having to go back out an hour or two later. They have cameras on the dogs in the back too which at least keeps another set of eyes on their condition in case theres something going on

2022-04-26These two stars have nothing to do with the actual grooming. One star each goes to the two staff members who helped jumpstart our car. As for the grooming, I would have been better off going to a barbershop. No disrespect to barbers. We brought our golden doodle and shih-pooh for grooming. The golden doodle was matted so they completely stripped her coat and left her unrecognizable. No effort at all. Her face was completely trimmed and not a whisker in sight. My shih-pooh was unevenly trimmed with stringy pieces left uncut on her ears and snout. The final touch on our shih-poo was the nail clipping in which they cut her so deep that it left her bleeding. She was still bleeding when we got home and leaving blood trails around the house. I should have went with my gut feeling when greeted by one of the groomers who was unfriendly. We felt extremely rushed. They have been unresponsive by phone to no avail. Do not bring your dog here if you are looking for love and care and actual grooming. Anyone can take a set of clippers and cut off hair. #unluckypaws

2021-11-16We usually come here for grooming and they do a decent job, but 2 weeks ago my puppy left their shop traumatized and uncomfortable. Took him to the vet after a couple days of sleeplessness and found out he had gotten an ear infection (on both sides!) and had painful skin loss near his sensitive areas. I was horrified, and when I contacted their office we were assured to have the vet bill covered. However, it has been almost two weeks since then with no reply even after multiple calls and emails. Very very disappointing experience.

2017-08-10Had my dog groomed here, I was was very pleased with the service. The price was very reasonable and she looked like a new dog,🐶. They even gave her some cute bows 😍. This will definitely be our spot and I will be recommending other to take their pets there.

2022-01-24Friendly, local spot, with great service. Slightly higher prices than you can find online but its worth it to support local businesses! Never had my dog groomed there but the grooming facility is in plain view of the store floor and the dogs always look relaxed and like theyre having a great time.

2021-01-27We are first time dog owners and we were looking for a groomer. We came upon New Hyde Bark from a friend who said to look into them. From the initial call, to the first groom to today when we picked up our little one from her second grooming, I have to say, they are great!!! Very professional, very nice and they do an awesome job. We were lucky enough to be introduced to Kim who is one of the groomers when we went for our little ones first grooming. Kim is great with our little one, does a phenomenal job and has a great personality. I rarely write reviews but they deserved to be recognized for a great job. I definitely recommend them.

2021-06-01I am writing this review for my sister and her family. They took both of their dogs to New Hyde Bark Groomers about 2 weeks ago. Their large dog jumped out of the tub several times and has been limping on his back leg ever since. They had no way to secure the dog to ensure that he couldnt jump out of the tub. When dropping off their small dog, my brother in law told the groomer he wanted a small trim. The dog was unrecognizable when she was picked up. The groomer even cut her whiskers! We have used this grooming facility in the past and had a fabulous experience but understand that it is under new ownership. Its safe to say that we will not be using New Hyde Bark groomers ever again.

2021-05-22My dog is a nervous and scared dog. They took there time with him and amazingly was able to be given a bath and cut. Came out with a very cute bandana. So clean and handsome. Great job will take him back.

2016-07-07Though getting an appointment is not the easiest (since they are a busy establishment) my dog loves it there and comes out happy and looking wonderful. The owner is a loving dog owner and shop owner. I will never forget the first time I went there as a new pet owner and how she put me completely at ease. My dog has an excellent temperament and is very easy to deal with. My vet recommended this groomer to me and gave it high ratings. I am happy to say they live up to that high rating.

2017-03-11New to Yelp but felt compelled to write a review. This is by far the best groomer I have ever been to. Staff was friendly and interacted really well with my dog. His coat looked amazing and he came out smelling nice and clean. Prices are affordable and they have a shopping area that will fulfill all of your needs. I will definitely be back.
