AWESOME PLACE! On Tuesday my daughter was at the MGK concert and I needed a great place to hangout with my cousin while waiting. This is always my stop anyway when waiting for a train back upstate or after seeing a show. Sat on the upper deck for the first time, it was a GREAT people watching spot and atmosphere. I want to HIGHLY compliment our waitress Alexandra, she was so friendly and kind. I also want to compliment the manager, Ariel, who really knows about keeping guests happy. Considering this is probably more of a tourist place I was impressed with how they handled our nachos order being forgotten with a complimentary round. Hospitality training seems to be taken seriously here. DEFINITELY stop here sometime.
My first review was 5 stars but after visiting again tomorrow I unfortunately need to give a new review. The place has been under new management for 2 weeks.I really dont recommend it! We ordered a bucket of beer, and they all came open, according to manager Ty, this is NY law but we should have been warned.I have a pepper allergy, when I went to choose a French fries, the same manager Ty recommended me the one with parmesan cheese. On the menu it was written that there was pepper, I explained my situation, and he assured that there was no pepper. To my surprise, was super spicy, I felt really sick. When I explained what had happened, he just said that it wasnt spicy for his taste and apologized. I felt disrespected. For these reasons I amend my previous assessment. If anyone knows if the new owner has a new bar, let me know the address!
The patio seating is really nice. The service is pathetic. The guy who greeted us was nice and friendly but he was working downstairs. Everything is ordered by scanning the QR code. The collection of beers was decent but they were out of Heineken on tap. Wish the service was quicker and friendlier on the patio too.
Good Mexican place to get a beer and some other cocktail. Sadly the food is not really up to the challenge, it is ok but nothing seems to be done, more like opening bag of chips and salsa sauce.Other than that the service is fast, you pay with your phone with a qr code, some like it some dont. At least no mess up in the order and its coming fast.
Right outside the entrance was filthy with trash. I should have known that the experience wouldnt be all that. They dont offer menus instead tell u to use a Q.R code to order, Then dont mention that ordering that way you can only pay with card. My waiter was nice & helpful & the food was good but the over all experience wasnt good. I will not be returning.
Food was excellent as usual. However their new electronic ordering system is horrible. No personality behind the service, if you’re lucky to see a waiter. And they charge for refills of soda and chips and salsa is not complimentary.Overall great food but be prepared for not so great service and charged for everything single thing.
Group of 6.Wed just left the NYC Auto Car Show and decided to have a night on the town. After dinner we hit here for drinks. We were upstairs and the waiter directed us to order via the bar code. One of us arrived minutes behind and wasnt there for the waiters initial directions so he ordered at the bar for all of us, which was less complicated anyway. When the waiter returned there was a back and forth between them. Waiter insisted that we would be overwhelming the bar maid, although she was pretty accommodating and friendly. There was absolutely no one at the bar and very few people upstairs as it was cold. He then said wed end up waiting 20 minutes for drinks, we were indifferent about that. Wed have to move to the bar, were ok with that too. Anyway, it boiled down to the waiter saying I AM TELLING YOU TO SIT HERE AND ORDER HERE. It was the commanding tone that compounded it. The drinks were already being made but sorry, we left. My colleagues raised the race card while we walked to another spot but I am trained in international relations and served as a diplomat here in NY and looked into everything. Whereas they could be right about the racism, (hes white, were not) I didnt see that, I saw frustration and my conclusion was the waiter was trying to secure the tips. Drinking at the bar, probably meant the bar maid gets the tip and he really needed it. I stand to be corrected. Unfortunately, internal processes are not the concerns of any patron and that language needs to be checked. A little courtesy goes a long way in human relationships.
I’ve often had a pleasant time at this bar but today I realised they will force you out of a booth saying it’s only for “three or more people” when that clearly isn’t the case if you look Hispanic by the chefs or server. The drinks and atmosphere aren’t that good to want to return anytime soon. I speak Spanish…maybe I should’ve called that out in Spanish to them.
The place is centrally located, the rooftop is awesome. The food was all right and therefore the 3 stars. The guacamole was good, the chips were not. The fries were great but the burger was over-cooked. Everything looked awesome but tasted just ok. I might still go back. The service was very good and the staff, friendly.
Overall I was fairly happy with my experience here. I ordered a taco salad, the food came very fast. The taco salad was decent. The chicken was a little dry, however the greens were spot on. I especially liked the bowl. It had just the right amount of crunch. The place was fairly clean, however there were several birds of flying throughout the building. In conclusion, I was fairly happy with my experience here.
Great little spot close to MSG, we had quesadillas, nachos and margaritas right before The Misfits & Rancid show (10/19/2019) .... solid great food. Yes, we had to look around for an available table (self seating) but the staff was super friendly and attentive once we got their attention. Food was tasty and the drinks were just right, not watery at all. We left the place happy and excited for the night! I recommend it!
Mindblowing place . Its not too high rooftop but the place really good. Music system good. Employees really good. Food l love that , really yammy food. Love there passion fruit margarita. Awesome atmosphere . kasadia and french fry wow. Price range not too hight for this place . I Love this place for the night time coz you can see the light of beautiful New York city 🌸
I have been here a few times for lunch and the reason I keep coming back is for the view from the balcony on the second floor. Its an open view and you sit up high looking down at the city around you. I wish the food came out quicker as this place gets very crowded for lunch and people need to get back to work on time. Also, the food doesnt have anything special about it, in fact, Chipotle would be a better spot for Mexican food.
The word Cantina typically invokes that of quality Mexican cuisine. This place falls well short of even mediocre if you have ever tasted decent Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere is vibrant enough aside from the rap music playing at 80 dB. The salsa is from a jar and tastes like ketchup mixed with onions. The service was decent at best but there was a nice assortment of drinks. Once concern was that we sat at the bar and noticed that the bartenders and wait staff were tasting drinks before running them out to customers. They at least used straws with their fingers beforehand but still disgusting. If you are just looking for a good margarita or a beer before hitting Madison Square Garden, this place will suffice. If you are looking for a good meal with decent service at an affordable price, keep on walking. This place is overpriced and the food is just not that good.
“Prime location at 34 st X 8av but good for a couple of drinks..thats it..!!”We were crossing 34th St near Madison sq and we saw this rest.. decided to go there.Though it was may and the temp was 15 C still we went to the rooftop. no seating preference.. seat urself as soon u get one.We got right at the railing.. perfect.. we ordered the draft beer, mango fusion mojito with chip and salsa. The issue was with entrees.. we ordered three things and none of them come out good.Royal wrap (chicken burrito)- fish taco and it was below par.We returned fish taco as it was not at all good. The server was good though.. I got one beer on the house.I guess, This place is good for a couple of drinks with a friend. And an extra point for ambience and location.
Ive been going to Lucy’s for quite a while now and recently I have been experiencing little to none attention from the waiters. Ive been there during busy times (and is understandable a little wait time) but also during slower times and that is unacceptable waiters simply pass by you and don’t even acknowledge you nor follow up on your drinks we had to call them several times to assist us!!! .. very disappointed. While my drink was over I saw my waiter in a corner dancing minding her own business and not assisting our table.. smh but when it comes to being us the check the want to heart and circle the 20- 22% tip box. Really??
Good spot to go to before MSG. Nice staff and open air upstairs. Service was pretty quick. Prices were good. The margaritas were not very good. But they had tequila in them so it is what it is. If I was just coming here for beer or if I tried the food (which looked pretty good) I would probably give it 5 stars.
Im not the type of person to leave reviews, let alone bad ones, but ! Loved the staff they were very helpful, but this review is because of how THE MANAGER treats people when its an inconvenience to him. He seems OBSESSED with his authoritative position threatening to call the cops, instead of being helpful. When I misplaced my purse with a lot of valuable information (SS card, passport, and wallet) and needed help looking for where I left it last. I told him I just want to find my stuff and I will leave. Before this encounter ... I politely asked the people sitting near where I was ... after I left the bathroom if they have seen a bag and they said no. He threatened to call the cops on me for harassing customers. I asked him if anyone made a complaint and he said no, but you need to leave. My intentions werent to make a scene, which of course he did directing all eyes on us. He was treating me like a crazy person, (and yes I was tipsy, but what human being will be okay if they misplaced all of that stuff). Very rude and weird way to treat a PAYING customer that just needed help. I told him I live in LONG ISLAND and cant get home without my stuff. He said he didnt care and told me to call tomorrow. My bag was found by a waitress in two seconds and thats all I asked for.
Service was horrendous. I cannot judge the food other than the nachos because we never received the quesadillas and burritos we ordered. We were late to our event because we were waiting so long for our food, which never came out for the hour we were sitting there. The nachos were delicious so it is a shame we did not receive the other food. The manager did take some of our drinks off the bill, and for his customer service it is 2 stars instead of 1.
Im glad I finally tried this place, since its so close to where I live. This was my 2nd time here, and I got the shrimp tacos. First time around a had the fish burrito, both REALLY good choices! The only downfall is that the first time I came in the waiter forgot I was sitting outside and had to remind him, and waited a while for my food. Plus the people who Ive had serving me werent the friendliest. Maybe Ill do take out next time!
The food was ok I would only go at happy hour it is not worth the regular price. My friend and i had to ask for utensils to be brought to us even though everyone else had it on their table and the waiter was very pushy because he had to leave and I felt very rushed to order our food as well he brought us the check early. When he left we had another waiter come by and ask us if we wanted anything else we were done eating and we were finishing our drinks just chatting for a few minutes but I could tell they wanted us to leave because our food was done we were planning on getting a few more drinks but the vibe just said to leave, So we just packed it up and left. I was a bit confused as to the check because I’ve never seen a cc processing fee on my bill at any restaurant before, I used my debit card so I was a bit confused I’ll have to look into that.
Bad service.... I sat for 20 mins before I got up to the bartender to ask for a server, 3 tables came after me & got served first ... my drink was not from happy hour & my drink was the only one without a garnish ....server was clueless ...I’m a mixologist at a restaurant myself so I appreciate a good service ...not in this place
The food at this restaurant was decent for the most part, and the prices were affordable. I arrived with my date at around 9:30 and we were asked to show our I.d. , which was not an issue . After providing the hostess with proper identification we were instructed to take any seat that we wanted . Our waitress came to take our order surprisingly quick , and checked on us often for the duration of our stay . However when it came time to pay for our food our waitress was preoccupied with other customers because it seemed as though she was the only waitress on staff that night . The restrooms at this restaurant are two floors down and in somewhat of a secluded area but if you follow the signs its easy to find. All in all the restaurant isnt a bad place to stop if youre in the mood for a quick bite to eat. P.S. the tacos bowls at this restaurant are well worth the price.
Its exactly what to expect when youre in midtown NYC! Crowded with tourists, standard bar food, but overall a good set up with patios on the roof and a covered patio out back as well. Luckily it was cover for the massive rain storm that hit, and they did a fantastic job quickly bringing out a pump to remove the water from the patio. We had a group of 20 and they were very accommodating, servers did a great job hosting. I would hold another pop up event here again just based on that fact alone.
You actually order on the app via the QR code on your table. They do have a roof top option or a dine in option. We ordered the guacamole and chips for an appetizer and I had the skirt steak burrito. I would highly recommend!! The food was delicious and even though I hate not having a wait staff they were still attentive and refilled our drinks and cleared our plates. Its right next to Penn Station so its convenient for a quick bite. The service was fast!!
They botched a gin and tonic. Tables were sticky. Burritos were decent. All utensils were plastic. Servers/tech support were friendly but few and far between. I hope restaurants steer clear of the digital ordering, it kills the atmosphere. Bathroom is also straight out of a horror movie. NOT friendly to those with disabilities.
It was such a weird experience. The food was fine—the weird part was the service. After I spent $8 on a regular draft beer and waited half an hour to get it, a random 30-something blonde server accused me of lying about not having received it in the first place. I was trying to be cool about the delay and instead I was called a liar for their mistake? The decent food wasn’t worth the bad vibes.
When it comes to outdoor dining, Lucy wins hands down! Service and the food? Well, lets say there is space for opportunity. Menus can be scanned directly from your phone and you have to pay to place an order. Super convenient. However my server was dry and had a slight attitude when I was asked questions about the happy hour menu. Honestly, it pained me to tip for service she didnt provide. I was better off with take out if I was going to be treated like that. We are customers supporting a business during these times. Where is the love! Lol. I order the shrimp tacos. For about 18 bucks, I couldve gotten something better from Taco Bell.
Great spot for meeting or waiting for trains by 34th street. They now do QR code orders and have it delivered to your table. Happy hour is $8 mojitos and margaritas. They have $6 “top of the house” shots which switch daily. Chicken tenders are alright. Food was nothing spectacular but wasn’t bad.
Well where do I start.. place is nice and cozy but service is really bad considering the fact that we were ask for a credit card in order to take our order ..according to their policy 12 more tables are being served without asking for a credit card or vaccination card also . I love the food but service. Is just awful 😕😞. Sorry but we had a bad experience.
I’m a fan of any rooftop, and the atmosphere here does not disappoint! The drinks were delicious, highly recommend the Pineapple Express. The salsa is interesting, unlikely anything I’ve ever had before. Not what I think of when I think salsa, but it was good nonetheless. Great stop before a game at Madison Square Garden!
We sat down at the upstairs outdoor patio and loved the atmosphere. However the service...or lack thereof...and food was a different story. We were told to download the menu on our phones..which is customary these days due to Covid but to order on our phones was new to me. The waitress told us to order on our phones and they would bring us the food and drinks. My beer arrived and I asked for an orange...never received it so I went to the bar myself to get it. We had almost finished our beers when the nachos finally arrived...cold and stuck to the foil they were cooked on. Noone ever stopped by to ask if everything was ok. We left as soon as we could. I would NOT recommend!!
Ordered through doordash for pickup, food was ready in 1 minute for at least 45 minutes. When I went in to check the status it had evidently been ready for at least 10. I ordered a burrito and guacamole with chips, the housemade tortilla chips tasted housemade 3 days ago as they were stale to the point of inedible and the burrito was well sub-par. Additionally, I had to go back in after picking up what shouldve been my full order as theyd forgotten half of it. The only decent part of the meal was the quac, which at that point I shouldve walked down the street to Chipotle and gotten a better burrito, equally good guac, and astronomically better service. The icing on the cake is, when confronted about the service issue, the individual I assume to have been the manager on shift was overtly passive aggressive and flat out rude. Dont waste your time or money.
This place is nice. I have the chicken taco and it was dry... I had better. The music was good and diverse. The drinks were delicious and social distancing was implemented. The service was mediocre... I had to chase after the waitress a couple of time to get service at my table so I went to the bar instead. Other than that Ill recommend this spot.
Amazing place, exelent service !They have this online ordering system , wich works amazing! Food comes out fast and it is very delicious. The drinks were on point and servers taking a great care of everyone!Definitely visit if you around!!!!Thank you for the great time!!!!!
Been stopping in at this place for the last 10 years. They have a cool rooftop by penn station that offers a cool laid back vibe. I always only order a few things off the menu but their House Salad is OFF THE CHAIN!! The dressing is a sweet and tangy chile vinaigrette that compliments the salad and is almost drinkable. I always get it with the pork carnitas and extra tortilla strips. Its the perfect salad. The burrito, Nachos, and honey cornbread is also deeeeelish. The service is a little lack luster of youre coming to converse with the servers or bartenders but otherwise they are pleasant. Never a bad experience here. Check them out!
Stopped here with 2 of my friends just to have some quick drinks. We got a pitcher of red sangria. It was delicious. We also ordered nachos which were extremely tasty. They didnt feel heavy and were just the right amount. Definitely give this place a try. Its a very cool hang out spot.
Great place. Bartenders are friendly. Great happy hour specials 7 days a week. Amazing in summer. If they have for winter secure thick plastic with plastic roof secured to their walls so could keep roof top open all year would be perfect. Tim the main manager to awesome!
Pretty pricey. However they have happy hour. So recommend going during that time. If you miss happy hour and your with a group of people. Theyll ask to sit at the bar to be able to individually pay. That was kind of difficult when you have a group of 8 people and their is no room at the bar. That roof top tho 👌 Fuego! Def love to go here when its warmer.
Had a great lunch today with friends. The food is pretty good. The prices are very reasonable. Getting a $10 drink at a Manhattan open door space is a good deal. But the service was what made me excited. I think our waitress name was Any. Very attentive and always with a smile when she passed by. You could see the whole staff moving fast. Will definitely go back.
Food was extremely dry and extremely plain and pretty terrible overall. It definitely didnt taste like Mexican food, which I dont think is a lot to ask for from a Mexican restaurant. The bathroom is in the cellar of a restaurant, past their trash and empty beer barrels and next to a parking garage. Our waitress was nice, the rest of the way staff would keep coming over and looking at me and the rest of my table. They never said it or did anything but it made us feel like we werent wanted or they were suspecting us or something and it was very uncomfortable and put us off. The whole experience was awful and I do not recommend anyone go to this restaurant. My only guess as to why theyre still open is that unsuspecting tourists keep giving them business. No one should go to this place. Its not worth it on any front. Avoid at all costs
I showed up with my boyfriend for lunch. we were greeted at the door and told to sit wherever. we ordered our food online and paid before receiving it. also got 2 drinks a beer (was good) and a vodka lemonade it was ok. our food came shortly after and i suppose this place is more geared towards drinking because the food was subpar. Better place for drinks and chips/guac only, any other food is overpriced. Drinks also overpriced. Honestly just find a different Mexican resturant. Kindof a cool atomosphere but also gross.
Service was awful. Took 15 minutes for anyone to come over after we sat ourselves. Food was mostly bad. Nachos were ok, tacos had burritos were not good. Drinks weren’t very good either. We waited over a half hour for someone to bring us the bill. They still didn’t. We had to come to the waiters to even get a bill. I’ve never eaten at a restaurant where they require a credit card to open a tab to eat. MakeS sense since the service is so bad I’m sure they’ve had people walk out.

2022-07-20No frills type of place, but dont let that throw you off. We stopped in for drinks on a hot 90 degree day. The bartender was phenomenal. We went up to the rooftop and it was so cute with lots of seating. The drinks were good with lots to choose from and the price was just right.

2022-07-09Nice bar in a small building. Although the building only has one floor there is a rooftop bar. The traffic sound is very loud as it is so close to the street. The staff was very friendly and fast. It is a good place to drink a coronaritha.

2022-03-22Had a great time here. Nachos were solid, drinks also good. Interesting vantage point for watching street action as well.

2022-05-23Came here on a Thursday during happy hour. I ordered a coconut mojito and chips with salsa. The salsa looks like it came out of a jar for $8 happy hour price, normally $14. The mojito I thought was supposed to be $8 during happy hour but because I got it with flavor it came to $15. There was nothing on the happy hour menu that stated flavored mojitos were not apart of the happy hour. The drink tasted good but I was disappointed by the trickery. I don’t recommend the salsa

2022-06-05The food is okay, nothing special. It’s the service that sucks. I came here with a friend and we both ordered off the app at the same time. Instead of letting us know there was confusion with orders, his food came out 30 minutes after mine. I’m sure the online ordering concept is nice but in this instance it was a fail. Appetizers came out at the same time as entrees. Bring back waitresses who can at least keep track of food coming out of the kitchen. Would never come back.

2021-09-17I just needed something to eat after a long morning in the city. Was looking for somewhere with good salads on my google and i walked passed this place. Immediately liked the vibe sat up on the rooftop and enjoyed myself. The food was plentiful and great. The mojioto was delicious. Will definitely try to go back again.

2021-08-20Located near Penn Station. Great place to grab a quick bite while on a layover on MTA North or Amtrak. The rooftop is great for people watching - its massive. The food is good and the service is decent. Moderately priced Happy Hour.

2022-06-21La Barca was closed and Google directed us here for drinks & tacos on a rooftop. Theirs is located on the second floor with a view of street traffic. Our waiter informed us when we were seated that he was the only one on staff for 10+ tables and using the QR code would bring the food out more quickly than ordering thru him. He didn’t mention the service fee charged per order. So to avoid multiple fees, we placed everything in one order; passion fruit margaritas, Baja sliders, skirt steak tacos and chicken burrito and would ordered additional drinks thru him. The drinks were good. My tacos came out first although the Baja sliders were our starters. The “Baja” sliders implied fish but were beef. They were good and we declined the offer for a refund despite the confusion. The skirt steak in the taco was over cooked and dry. Overall, was a good experience but I wouldn’t return or recommend.

2022-03-22Order online, at picking up they notice was a to-go order, they had to pack everything to-go after placing everything for dine in, missing utensils, napkins, no to-go drinks, pur first time and we order online with out the QR code. That was the mistake. They didnt know what the orders was for.Food was okay.Better dine in.
