Looking forward to a pleasant evening last month with a friend, another widowed retired teacher, we decided to try a Hicksville restaurant recently rebuilt that supposedly had good food. The food was good , but otherwise an unpleasant evening & we were sorry we stayed. The Head Waiter, so full of himself, admonishing us for not ordering drinks & then lecturing us about the restaurant, trying to convince us that this uncommon restaurant did not encourage lines of people & once 40 patrons had arrived it closed its doors. Struggling with some digestive issues, I no longer order appetizers. but may have a taste of my friends. Aware of this, she said, we will split the melon appetizer & he replied, then there will be an additional $7.00 charge. She laughed, said she did not want it then & we placed our entree orders. She never requested a larger portion because we were sharing or even an additional plate - it really is not an uncommon request. As I never am able to finish my entree, I requested a take home container when finished & was greeted with such distain, I did not think I would get it.Unknown to us when we arrived, we realized the owner was seated at a table & in conversation with guests he obviously knew. It became very apparent who he was as the evening progressed. It seems he has a Dress Code in order to be seated & if you do not meet his standards, even if your spouse has been seated while you are delayed parking a car, your party will have to leave. The owner lectures you, admonishes you, and then has you leave. It is so embarrassing and demeaning for these patrons and uncomfortable for those of us having dinner and observing this. There is NO sign as you enter the establishment or anywhere to indicate any rules indicating his Dress Code. Am I against being properly dressed? Not at all, but not the demeaning way he goes about it. I might add, the patrons told to leave were neatly dressed - middle age plus adults in SS collared shirts. A late arrival to the table the owner had been in conversation with, arrived in a SS T-shirt with arms covered in tattoos. Evidently friends can live by a more casual dress code. Fortunately there is one other server who knows how to communicate with customers, and she took a dessert order, sans any lecture, & without a request brought 2 plates & forks, so we could share a dessert.Looking for good food, want to share a dish, and be welcomed by a friendly gracious staff - You cannot go wrong with - Angelinas in East Norwich, Angelos(formerly Bravo Nader) in the town of Huntington and Branzinos in Huntington/Melville. Wonderful food in all three, and no demeaning lectures. only wonderful service. Yes, Branzinos noise level can get to you - BUT - when we left Luigi Q there were only 11 other people there & they too have a noise problem on top of everything else. BON APPETIT!!😇
Carol Voelgers review was spot on. Yet somehow I see a 1 review wonder is at the top here using a photo to get there... claims there is a new owner... really??? Carol Vs review sounds more like this place and with the exact owner in the background.Years back, The outside is as far as weve got at this restaurant. The owner said as we walked toward the door for lunch, excuse me... but where are you going, not dressed like that sweeping his hand downward calling attention to beige summer shorts.. he was highly indignant we were in casual summer clothes. In mid afternoon!. Mind you we are both Nassau residents, homeowners, fully employed and parents.. not dressed in any type of rude or offensive clothing. We literally were Un welcome. I said, come on Mike lets go to La Parma. Yeah thats right... they wish they had the biz of LaParma, everyone does.. and we are always welcome in our perfectly Long Island style summer attire. Its a shame because I am sure from what I read there may be some good old fashioned Italian food.. but we simply will not go back to patronize a place where an owner is so discourteous. Imagine that.. demanding people dress in warm long pants in summer, and or no sandals. In the day time!!!The owner needs a lesson in manners.. and has the right to post a strict and stodgy dress code if he so chooses... but his dramatic reaction was offensive, not polite. Who knows, maybe as a boy he bussed tables in some restaurant in Rome or NYC at night and saw people turned away.. and tries to emulate the days of some big formal restaurant.. but this is right here on South Oyster Bay Road and it seems ludicrous if honest to try to regulate the attire of Nassau residents. If the owner wants to apologize for his discourteousness, I am happy to return and try this restaurant... but that most likely is never going to happen... so I will always see that annoying restaurant across from where I shop for years and know we are not welcome.Could you imagine?
This is a smallish old school Italian restaurant which could use a little modernization in décor. The food, while pricey for sure, is exceptional, done perfectly. The menu presents a variety of good choices and some wonderful appetizers. The wait staff is competent. I would definitely return here. If you are looking for hipster fusion, a bustling crowd and other gimmicks this is not your place.
Last night a group of people went to Luigi Q and had a terrible experience. I should have realized this restaurant was not popular since we got the reservations the last minute. When we walked in, they wanted to sit us in the middle of the restaurant. WE asked to be placed at 3 different tables only for Luigi to come running over yelling at the waiter. Right there and then we should have walked out. I must commend the two waiters, they were wonderful. The food was good but the owners arrogant attitude overshadowed anything good. The owner played great hostess to his 2 tables that were regulars. BUT did not bother coming to the other few tables that were in the restaurant. When we left, I asked why he would not sit us at the tables requested. His attitude was disgusting,,,he said it was for his regulars (even though 2 tables

2022-05-15Everything was 5 star : food, service, and decor. The desert to top it off was a homemade Napoleon Pastry was so good it reminded me of deserts I had in Italy. Upscale dining room with nice selection of music. Plus Fine selection of wines. The owner Luigi stopped by to make sure we were enjoying everything. Yes we will be back!

2021-08-20Had a wonderful dinner at LuigiQ. Fresh mussels bianco with toast tips on the side to start. Followed up with a grilled veal chop. Outstanding !! Service outstanding . Previous reviewers unhappy with no children policy…. All I can say is there are plenty of kid friendly establishments. I like to enjoy my dinner in a nice, quiet and relaxing environment . Owner very proud old school gent who cares about quality. I’ve eaten here many times, never a bad meal. It’s not the Olive Garden so for those of us who appreciate an upscale environment after a long day or week at work this is the place. Wonderful selection of Scotches and Ports and house made desserts kill.

2022-07-17Such a good experience, so good Im writing this in the car ride home. Luigi was hilarious and a wonderful host, very tolerant of a rough-around-the-edges member of our party. You can tell they really stand behind their food, and I see why, everything was delicious, and they were honest about what was fresh. Didnt break the bank either, so Im happy to say we will be back.Update: been a few more times and its consistently great. Always try one of the specials

2021-11-29First time at Luigis We got the double cut pork chop, Monkfish special, fresh pasta Alfredo and baked clams. Everything was very good. I ordered the pork chop medium and it came medium well but still juicy, flavorful and tender. Everything else was cooked perfectly. Well be back!

2021-05-185 STARS: Fabulous, Fabulous dinner experience! The food was excellent! The service was impeccable! It was my first time at the restaurant, but it will not be my last. I highly recommend Luigi Q for a special dinner out. The dining experience is worth every penny. Try the baked clams, they were out of this world. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The cheesecake was delicious. I cannot say enough about Luigi Q’s. Treat yourself, make a reservation!!

2021-04-17Our second time here, I had to bring my dad who is from Italy because this place blew me away the first time. Forget the fact that the ambience is beautiful, chic, upscale yet comfortable and relaxing. Now let’s move onto the food and service. Nothing short of perfect! We shared a sausage, pepper and baby shrimp appetizer suggested by Giovanni, who is a spectacular, knowledgeable and completely professional server with a great personality along with Alex who assists in any way needed....we then moved on to the “must have” tomato salad...this is prepared and left to marinate in a delicious blend of herbs and olive oil that will bring you back to mammas cucina from the first bite...the flounder absolutely is now one of my favs! The Veal entree and Lobster dish we also shared. Equally delicious! Finally for dessert, the best and lightest napoleon we’d ever had...all this and table side visits from Luigi making sure we were enjoying our meal....I guess the only thing left to do would be, to make my next reservation 😉 enjoy! this experience will not disappoint

2021-01-01I was lucky enough to eat At the Recently re-opened Luigi Q the other night and was treated to some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten. The bar was beautiful and had a few cocktails before dinner. The wine list is extraordinary and had great wine. For the meal the lobster ravioli was amazing and I cant wait to go back for more.
