Decided to give them a shot back in December and ordered the lobster grilled cheese, which in my opinion was a bit lackluster overall. For $13 I felt like it deserved a bit more lobster.Fast forward a few months and here I was hesitant to go back to try the lobster roll but noticed they also had a shrimp roll on the menu so I decided to gave that a shot. I have to say, the shrimp roll was pretty good.
Friendly service, delicious lobster (and shrimp), nice decor and a decent view, all in a small package. My companions and I recently chose to lunch at Luke’s. We would’ve preferred a warm, buttery, lobster roll, but Luke’s serves their shrimp and lobster chilled. The wait time for our food was about 10-15 minutes. Not a big deal, unless you’re as hungry as we were. The seafood was tasty and the buns/rolls were equally delicious. It’s entirely possible that I closed my eyes as I took each bite.Luke’s is pricey (to be expected since it’s quality seafood in Manhattan), but I like that they offer incentives. If you download their app they’ll give you a free beverage. On my birthday I was surprised with a coupon for a free shrimp roll.If you’re looking for a fresh (chilled) shrimp or lobster roll, this is your place.
Lobster delicious but didn’t like ambiance and the exorbitant prices didn’t help. Got the trio. Size was a lot smaller than expected. Shrimp no go and left it there. Crab took a bite would not order again. Bun nicely toasted. They wanted to up charge $8 for another mini roll lobster instead of the shrimp and crab. No fries yet on menu for a year? Staff friendly but almost not helpful. I would suggest lobster roll to go.RESPONSE: I can’t say I’ve been to many places with fries and lobster roll but would be nice.
Luke’s Lobster is simply delicious—I’ve visited their Upper West Side location and the food at their East Side location was equally tasty and fresh.Certainly don’t expect bargain pricing—which you shouldn’t for lobster and seafood. The lobster roll is great and staff at both locations have been kind and professional.Expect to spend at minimum $25 and that’s just for a small meal—if you’re going in there super hungry far more—but it’s worth it for a treat, and you can’t fairly expect quality lobster to be cheap!
Good sandwich with lobster even if i prefer the most simple one: just lobster without any sauce or topping. In here they put some pepper and a special sauce that cover a little the actual taste of the lobster.I suggest to go if you are going around this zone!the service a little slow in the evening/night!
I had a bad experience with this spot.I walked past the door around 7:45pm on a weekend night and it took 5 minutes before anyone showed up to take my order. When someone finally did take my order, I was asked to sign my receipt which asks you to tip. Its already expensive as is ($24 for a trio with fries and drink) and I felt swindled by their tipping practice especially since they dont even have table service here. One this one particular experience it took over 20 minutes to get my food. A group of four had arrived 5 minutes after me and had not only gotten their food first but had also finished eating before my meal was even brought out to me.However, I do like the ambience and Im a fan of Luke Lobsters buttered rolls so thats the only reason why I didnt give this place a one star review.
Had the lobster roll with clam cowder. Soup was delicious, a bit on the salty side, well flavor with ingredients. Serve hot enough to burn your tongue. As for the lobster roll, why is it so cold? Even the toasted bread is cold. Would be much more delicious is its hot and freshly made, feels pre-made and left in fridge.
I was a server in SF for several years, I don’t submit bad reviews lightly. $45 plus 15% tip for one walk-up counter lobster roll, a bag of potato chips, and a can of beer. The staff is aggressively unkind, for no reason at all. I’m honestly impressed. I love this area and the restaurants close by, but this place has got to go.
It is rare to find a good lobster roll in NYC, but Lukes has got it! Place is always packed out, but the service in my opinion is really great. I used to travel to Maine a lot, and some of the best lobster rolls I have ever had were there, but the lobster rolls at Lukes Lobster are not far off at all!
The lobster and crab rolls were seasoned well and fairly proportioned. I know the price seems high, but the rolls are quite stuffed with seafood. I think the lobster in the mac n cheese was lost. If they had just a little less butter, the crab and lobster would have shined through more, and its a shame because I can tell they are fresh and cooked properly.
I had New England clam chowder, a lobster roll, and a lobster grill cheese. The clam chowder has way too many potato but it was tasty. I suspect they put the ladle way at the bottom and grabbed too many potatoes. It tasted fantastic though outside of the imbalance of ingredients. The lobster roll was amazing and filling. It comes in two sizes and I got the smaller size. Huge chunks of lobster and everything tasted fantastic. The grill cheese was also great. Lobster is mild, so any strong flavors accompanying it seem to overpower the taste of the lobster but this grill cheese allows you to taste every piece of the lobster. They have benches to sit at outside and limited seating inside. As expected it is a bit pricey due to the menu revolving around lobster. I highly recommend the experience.
Lobster rolls in a pinch... We ordered 6 6oz rolls....Most were 7 oz with the bun. One was slightly less than 6 oz. (We got short changed in the lobster meat.....).They serve almost all tiny rubbery claws opposed to knuckle and tail meat. They are to heavy to heavy with the Old Bay seasoning. (Not a fan) I would rather have the traditional New England style lobster rolls. No, we wont be returning. Well wait for the Pearl Oyster Bar or Marys Fish Camp or another place to open. Alternatively, you can just have a fresh lobster. They should be a lot cheaper during the pandemic. The best part of the rolls was the neat packaging.

I love the atmosphere. Its a very nice place and very nice people working there. I ordered the Luke trio and was quite surprised at the size of the rolls for the cost. These are like 3 roll sliders for $20 also the seafood is cold. The actual roll was good. The food would have been much better if the crab, lobster and shrimp were warm. Although, I loved the environment I didnt think these sliders were worth the money.
The service was excellent, very friendly atmosphere and decor was relaxing & welcoming. The staff was super friendly. I had a lobster roll, which was ok, but I tasted better. I wasnt too keen on the seasoning - it couldve been better. It seems that a quick dusting of some type of seasoning was put on top. I would definitely pay them another visit & try some other goodies.
Good lobster rolls! Not cheap - but I remember getting a cheaper lobster roll off a food truck in LA some years ago and being disappointed in the amount of lobster. This one did not disappoint. They could use a few more options for main and side dishes, and drinks - but the focus here is on the seafood rolls, and the one I had was GOOD.
This place rocks! These lobster rolls are perfection! The roll was delicious and toasted to perfection, the lobster chunks were huge and covered in butter (whats not to like?!) and the ratio of seasonings to mayo is simply beautiful! Its simple food, done well, made right! If youre a lobster lover this tiny joint should definitely make your bucket list!
I love a good lobster roll. I also love a good crab roll and shrimp roll. Lukes has it all, along with crab claws and Maine Root soda! I always get the Noahs Ark and share with another person. It consists of one lobster roll, one shrimp roll, one crab roll, two bags of chips, two drinks and 4 crab claws. The rolls are cut in half so it is perfect for sharing! Theres a meal that is exactly half of this if you want the selection of all three shellfish but are dining solo. The seafood always tastes fresh and delicious. The bread is never too oily. And the seasoning is always perfect, not too much and not too little. The ONLY reason I would say not to try this place out is if you are allergic to shellfish. And even then, if youre only kind of allergic, it might be worth the few hours of the allergic reaction. Also must note that I am a HUGE fan of this location, definitely my favorite.
This place was such a nice little dig. The Lobster rolls were unbelievable and I had to go back and get another order. I also tried the triple rolls with crab, lobster and shrimp and it was sooooooo good. I wish I had my pics I took to post but I cannot find right now. The menu pictures are accurate here anyway. A little $$$ but you get what you pay for! Keep this place alive, totally worth it! num num num
Lukes Lobster has the best lobster rolls Ive ever tired! This place is a little hard to find because it is between the avenue and it is such a small place. It is easy to walk pass and miss it. But the rolls are so great! They pack the rolls with either lobster, shrimp, or crab meet. My favorite is the lobster rolls. The rolls are also nicely buttered and toasted! The only bad thing is the price. I mean it is a good price for fresh lobster meat but I cant afford to eat it all the time. They are $15 a roll. The rolls are also kind of small so I am still hungry after eating them. But they are too expensive to eat more than one.
Just off 2nd avenue, Lukes Lobster - the f first of many branches to be built around the world, offers that quaint, tranquil, relaxed environment to savor in complete abandon some of the best lobster rolls this side of Manhattan. Always juicy, tender and cooked to perfection, theyll happily use any holiday or event with a seafood theme to offer some kind of discuss on their trademark lobster rolls. They are just the right size to satisfy a quick ocean craving but be ready to shamelessly order a second serving for a complete full stomach. And their selection of beers pair oh so wonderfully with any of their menu items. Go there for the food, the chill space and the great food.
Great lobster! My favorite spot for rolls and clam chowder, and reasonably priced in my opinion for quality of food and neighborhood. Keep in mind it’s a small single register counter, so be prepared to wait a little during rush hours but a wonderful spot to dine solo or on a date.
Came here in the winter and was delighted with the lobster griled cheese. It was rich creamy with large chunks of fresh catch lobster. Of course we had to get their lobster roll too and although it was my first time eating a lobster roll being usually not a fan of lobster. I was delighted and the fresh toasted bread with the lightly marinated lobster was refreshing. Even though it was 40 degrees outside I didnt mind eating this cold plate because it really warmed my heart. My friend who absolutely hates seafood gave it a try and was very impressed although he loves grilled cheese.
Pretty good lobster roll.but i had to lower my rating because even for lobster this is ridiculously expensive. When we paid we thought that the chips that came with the roll was just an alternate term for French fries...nope..it was a bag of chips lol...we spent 40-50 (with no beverage) for two small lobster rolls and 2 bags of chips
Love the Noahs Ark deal. The crab roll is maybe my favourite instead of the lobster roll, but the bread is so light and delicious and the blueberry soda is a treat. I wanna try the chowder next time. Lovely place to sit and chill and cool staff. Super fast service too.
I was having a craving for lobster, but I didnt want to go through the whole ordeal of finding a place that serves it, and paying an exorbitant amount for some upscale seafood dinner. I wanted something casual, and I found it at Lukes Lobster. I ordered the Taste of Maine for about $25 which comes with a 1/3 of a lobster, 1/3 shrimp and 1/3 of a crab roll, chips and a drink. It was nice to be able to sample each of the popular sandwiches served. They bread was light and buttery, and each of the filling were very meaty and lightly seasoned and dressed so that the taste of the seafood stood out. The portions were okay. Ive had larger elsewhere, but I was pretty full by the end. The only thing is that it was hard to find a seat without feeling elbow to elbow with the other diners. I know that is common in NYC, but it was still somewhat uncomfortable. Id go back though. It was great!
The portions are abysmally tiny for their price. I ordered a lobster roll with a side. One might expect a serious sandwich for the price. However, my expensive roll was a few pieces of very watery tasting lobster (which means its probably not as fresh as it should be, and likely frozen), on what appears to be a single toasted white bread slice. The only saving grace that earned them that one star, was a very tasty bottled soda. I highly recommend the blueberry drink even though its 40g of sugar.
This place is good! Not a lot of space inside to sit down, so you might want to take it to go. Food comes out quick. It was my first time having a lobster roll (or lobster for that matter) and I liked it ok, but the crab and shrimp rolls were awesome. The menu was a little different from the website when I went - no claws, so the combos were a little cheaper. Buns are hot, seafood is chilled, and it all works. They also sell Maine Root sodas.
Delicious!!!! But pricey for the amount of food you get. Salty New England lobster hut feel -- although kind of small and not much seating. They dont over-mayo the lobster rolls like some lobster shops. Just a smear of mayo on the bread and then some delicious cold lobster meat on top with old pay. Perfection!
I take everyone who visits me in New York to Lukes. Their lobster rolls are my favorite seafood. The shrimp rolls are also great, though I dont care for the crab. Clam chowder is excellent. So far Ive filled out two punch cards (10 lobster rolls and get one free), and Id be at at least three if I could stop losing them. Theyre expensive, but I dont care. If I lived closer Id eat here once a week.
Is this place authentic? My fiance and I went to Bar Harbor, Maine for a week where I ate lobster everything single day. I found myself saying, This tastes like Lukes Lobster, only to correct myself that its actually the other way around. Is it good? Ive completed nearly 4 Lobsta Mobsta cards (which is essentially 10 meals of crab, lobster, AND shrimp per card) and then some because I always forget the card. So Ive basically had about 50 meals here and only here at this location. Yeah, its good.Is it a good value? Its seafood from Maine cooked in NYC. Im not going to pretend its cheap but its definitely a good value.
This establishment is a cozy, clean, hip place to go to for scrumptious seafood. Also, they have now added french fries 😊 to the menu. The staff is very friendly and professional. Whether youre stopping by for lunch, dinner or on a date, you will not be disappointed with the service or the food which is so dam good.
Ive come to learn that everyone has a favorite lobster roll - people quibble over the buns, the seasonings, etc. My standard lobster roll is Lukes. The lobster is from Maine (his father was a Maine lobsterman) and is sustainably sourced, theres just a little bit of mayo on the buns, the lobster is drizzled with a touch of butter, lemon and spices, and thats it. Although the price seems steep at $16, its a lot of meat, and there are plenty of lobster rolls in the city that cost $25-$35. The lobster rolls here are my summer go-to. Bonus: this location has a restroom! (New Yorkers know thats not always the case.)
Steamed Shellfish Combination - As good as the Lukes Lobster Upper East Side was, this combo turned out to be even better! The broth was thin but was packed with herby and lemony flavors. Plenty of green-lipped and black mussels, steamer clams, and prawns for everyone. This was absolutely a welcome surprise!Lukes Lobster Upper East Side
Delicious you need to try this place at least once addicting flavor it’s that good cheers guys at Luke’s 🍻p.s. anyone talking about the price and portions being high and small has no clue what they are talking about. The cost of bringing lobster and serving it at that low of a cost is a gem because most restaurants can get away with giving less food for higher prices.
Went here with a girlfriend last Friday and had a great time. More of a summer spot but we were in the mood for seafood. We both got the Lobster combo which was just the right amount and the seafood was so fresh. More of a low key ambience than I was expected but still enjoyable.
If youre a sucker for seafood, then youve come to the right place. Lukes lobster lets the flavor of the seafood speak for itself. With some butter and the barest of condiments, their lobster rolls are simple and delicious. I always get the Noahs Ark-because I like to try a little bit of everything-lobster, crab and shrimp. This place shows that you dont always need fancy decor and complicated flavors to drawn in customers-sometimes simplicity is the best way to go.
Been there first time last week, tried Noahs Ark. There are 6cm small 4 pieces of different sandwiches in that menu. Tastes ok with cumin which they put in the rolls but as I said the portions are small and expensive. Their white cowder soup is delicious. You better try that soup. The far eastern server girl was nice, she has given us white chowder soup to try as a sample.
Very misleading almost fraudulent menu offering posted to Google. I ordered the Taste of Maine expecting what was described on Google menu listing. This is the equivelent of ordering a happy meal and the server however pleasant and friendly, charges you for the burger then when you receive it she chooses then to tell you that the drink and fries are ala cart , tranlation: will cost you extra. They no longer offer crab claws . . . big disappointment. The food is not bad, but it is not a legitimate culinary experience. The menu basically warns you that the soup is not made on premises but canned: made by Hurricanes soup.If you dont cook, you will enjoy it, but if you do cook, you will hate paying for something you could have made better at home for less.
The price keeps creeping up, but the lobster quality is still unbeatable. Clam chowder is a recent addition to the menu that is excellent and can be added to any meal for a few well-spent dollars. The style is not-too-creamy with potatoes doing much of the thickening in a cross between New England and Rhode Island-style chowder.
This was a wasted trip to Manhattan for a small bowl of lobster mac and cheese which had only two small, and I mean miniscule pieces of lobster claw. No shredded lobster, and barely a hint of essence of lobster flavor. They should be ashamed of charging 15 bucks. I would not recommend this place to my worst of the worst enemies. 😲😬😝
Im a sandwich guy, and lets just say, the Taste of Maine was near the tops on my all-time list. I think they put crack in the perfectly buttered and toasty bread that delicately cradles the fresh seafood (which is not held back by overseasoning). Yes, its pricey...but I cant make these sandwiches at home.
A little slice of Tuscany in NYC.The best fresh mozzarella, home made sausage, sopresatta...I cant get enough. The guys behind the counter are so friendly & helpful - after only a few times here, they remember you and love what they do. Freshest ingredients. The ONLY down side to this place is its is CASH ONLY. I would rather pay with card b/c I would buy almost everything in the store!
Amazing... Just amazing. First time here and service was outstanding, food was worth every penny. I highly recommend this place to everyone whos looking for quality fresh, delicious seafood. I dont have a problem with the portion and price when the food is this good, no exaggerations, but this is just my opinion. If the price is lowered or stays the same I dont mind. As long as the food is as good as this you can have my money!
Ive been coming to Lukes Lobster on the UES since they opened, about 2 years ago. All this time theyve been a goto spot for me - I know that if Im craving a lobster roll or lobster bisque I can go to Lukes Lobster and my craving will be satisfied for a reasonable price considering the quality and quantity of food youre getting. Well unfortunately, the other night I visited Lukes after a brief hiatus and was unpleasantly surprised - my usual, the Noahs Ark, had a change for the worse. Although it remains at its usual price of $38, the Noahs Ark no longer includes 2 orders of crab claws. While this doesnt seem like a big deal this tips the scale so that the price of the Noahs Ark is just too much for what youre getting. Especially considering the recent glut of Maine Lobster, if anything their prices should be decreasing for the same amount of food. I also had a crab bisque that was terrible. I unfortunately wont be going back.
When “you can’t make it to Maine”, this “standout” seafood chain’s “real-deal” lobster rolls – “chock-full” of “succulent” meat with “no filler” – are just about the “closest you’ll get” (and “priced accordingly”); the “utilitarian”, counter-serve setups suggest “takeout”, though wine and beer poured at some branches encourages lingering.
I had hair in my soup. The guy who took my order he did not get it right. For a small store the service was slow.It took 25 minutes to get two combos.Cold food took to long!! I will never go back. And noboby had on hair nets or gloves.Their attitude was cold and distant.NEVER will I go back there.
Checked this place out after searching for the best lobster rolls in New York, I wasnt disappointed .. But I wasnt satisfied either.. The crab roll I ordered was actually the best Ive had but I paid almost 20 dollars for something that left me starving after... I think they need to have slightly bigger portions... This was literally a hotdog bun stuffed with crab, a nice butter hotdog bun but its still a hot dog bun... Not Big Enough Lol.

2022-05-16Lobster cant taste bad so obviously it was delicious. the sampler was a good way to try out the shrimp, lobster, and crab (each piece was 2oz whereas the regular size was 4oz & larger size was 6oz which just has more meat). this place is if youre willing to spend a good amount of money for yummy sandwiches. understandable for fresh seafood. but hey at least they give you a free bag of chips lol

2021-09-12Simply the best. 4oz lobster roll and a glass of rosé. The lobster is generous and buttery, the bread warmly toasted to perfection. They’re quick w service. It’s a nice treat to myself.

2019-02-03I’m not a lobster/seafood fanatic but the lobster rolls are 5 stars, perfectly seasoned, full of flavor and not overdone on the butter. Shrimp and crab rolls were good but nothing crazy. As some have mentioned, the portion sizes are small and did not fill me up. Lobster roll is on a hot dog size bun. Given the price point I was expecting a bit more, would have paid an extra $5 for a hero sized roll. Better for a lunch or someone who prefers a smaller portion.Decor was inviting, small place, normal service. Hybrid of casual fast food and sit down style (waited 8-12 min for food to come out). It’s in the category of ‘am I suppose to tip or not?’5* for the lobster roll quality and visual appearance of food.4* for the rest of the food and atmosphere3* for the price to portion ratio ($$$ is probably more accurate)

2018-04-22Honestly, would’ve given them a 5-Star rating if we just had the lobster roll. It was absolutely stuffed with thick CHUNKS of soft sweet sweet lobster and it was just delicious, especially if you enjoy being able to actually taste the lobster and not be overwhelmed by the butter and sauces/mayo that some places tend to stuff their rolls with to overcompensate for the lack of lobster meat. NOT here.Yes, the portion size is slightly small for the price BUT the flavour more then compensates for it.The lobster Mac and Cheese, on the other hand, lacked much lobster. There were only two pieces in ours, in fact. But the m&c was creamy and soft so it wasn’t bad overall, just expected more lobster.Staff are super friendly and amazing too!

2018-04-15Amazing lobster roll, tons and tons of tender, juicy lobster meat cooked to perfection in a roll toasted with garlic butter, with thyme and herbs sprinkled on top. With a side of chips and coleslaw, what more can a man ask for?Coleslaw was as one might expect, crunchy fresh cabbage and carrots in a savoury tangy dressing, topped with some cracked pepper.A big plus is that the Lobsters come from a sustainable source and are farmed ethically. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area!

2018-05-27A small but very good restaurant in the style of a fast food lobster place. The menu is limited to a small number of items. The lobster rolls are great and the cole slaw is very good. There is no wait staff but the kitchen will bring out your food. There is only a handful of tables here.

2020-11-21Was in UES yesterday, our old neighborhood, decided to walk around and ended up having dinner here.First time at a Lukes Lobster so I was trying to not have the highest expectations versus what weve enjoyed in Newport, RI. Turned out to be really good!I ordered the lobster roll with bisque and drink, opted to upgrade to a 6 oz rosé for an additional $8. Hubby had the crab roll + lobster mac & cheese. And yep, strategically always good for sharing everything! Their bisque was deliciously comforting. The lobster mac & cheese was actually surprisingly really good. Hubby enjoyed the crab roll and I also loved the lobster roll. They have a small outdoor dining area outside and on a beautiful not so cold evening, this was absolutely perfect!Staff were also great. Polite, smiling, actually liked taking care of customers type. May actually use that loyalty card as it works for UWS branches too! On our way out, we waved and thanked the team who took care of us, with a quick thumbs up! Thanks guys! This will definitely help satisfy our New England cravings until its safe to be traveling again! Well be back!

2022-09-17Best lobster Ive eaten ! Cooked just right and delicious. Service was great and cordial and fast.
