We recently hired M Mazza Paving put in our new paved driveway and we are extremely pleased with the quality of work. We really liked that Mike the Company’s Owner sold us a product that fit our needs. We will definitely be using M Mazza for our future paving projects.
I hired Mike Mazza to pave my driveway, which turned out to be a very bad decision. His initial attempt at paving my driveway resulted in a 6 inch wide wavy seam down the middle of the driveway and significant texture issues, scuff marks, and rake marks across the entire driveway. When I questioned the issues, he acknowledged the poor quality and agreed to try to fix the problems. He gave me two options 1) scrape off the top layer and repave or 2) cut back the pavement around the house, stairs and road, and repave over top of what was there. I chose to have it cut back rather that have the top layer scraped off and risk having the base layer even more uneven than it already was. Im not a paving expert and would not have been able to decide one way or another without Mike Mazzas confirmation that the driveway had sufficient slope where it could be cut back a few feet and repaved with proper elevation, drainage, and tie-in to the house, stairs, and road.Unfortunately, he decided to just add another layer of asphalt without properly cutting back. The attempt to fix the problem not only resulted in the same issues with the seam, scuff marks, rake marks and texture differences, but the additional topcoat was not cut back and tapered properly around the garage, stairs, and road. The garage now has pavement over the siding and trim where it connects to the driveway and the pavement slopes towards the garage door on one side. The additional pavement around the front steps results in the riser that meets the driveway being shorter than all the other risers in the stairs. The end of the driveway also has a large bump where it connects to the road due to the additional pavement applied.Due to the significant issues, I had another reputable pavement contractor look at the driveway. He said the only way to fix the problems was to completely remove and repave the driveway. He thought the driveway looked like a rollercoaster and it appeared that the base gravel was not graded properly, and without proper grading, the driveway would never be right. He also stated that the seam in the driveway was crumbling because the pavement at the seam was overlapping and the driveway was not rolled with a large enough roller. He also confirmed the issues with the garage slope, large bump by the road to remind you of the poor job every time you drive over it, and tie-ins to the stairs and house. He also noted several leveling, grading, and pitch issues in other parts of the driveway that were not obvious to me until he pointed them out. After he went through the list of issues, he asked if Mike Mazza paved the driveway without me ever saying a word about who did the work. When I said yes, he went on to say that its a young crew just trying to get started and the driveway was probably too big of a job for them since they didnt have enough experienced workers or a large enough roller to properly roll the seam. He felt the driveway may last a few years but the areas that are crumbling would keep doing so until there was a hole in the driveway.I tried to contact Mike Mazza several times in the months following the paving job to resolve the issue but he has never returned any of my calls. If you want a driveway that might last a few years at best, I recommend Mike Mazza, but if you want something that will last, look elsewhere.

2017-08-29I hired Mike Mazza for a few jobs but the biggest was a retaining wall in front of my house. Mike was very knowledgeable about stone selection and gave me a lot of tips when I was picking it out. He also guided me to make the best decisions when faced with options when building the wall.He and his crew were very nice, always on time and finished the job when expected. They were very conscious of keeping things clean and left my property spotless when they left. I would definitely recommend them. In fact I will be looking to hire them again next year to create a new driveway for me.

2017-11-02Mike Mazza and crew did a fantastic job with my new stone patio. They worked hard to meet my time constraints, consulted with me regarding the various options for types and colors of pavers and design / layout, did high quality work and came in on budget. I highly recommend them and am very pleased with the result!

2021-06-14I hired M Mazza Paving to repair and pave my existing 10,000 sq/ft parking lot and to help fix issues a previous paver left me with. Mike was very knowledgeable and took his time to address my concerns when he arrived for an estimate. He always answered my calls as we kept in touch while I waited a short time for him to arrive and do the work. His crew was professional and friendly and they all worked well together. I’m very happy with the paving and I no longer have water issues that were the result of work done previously by another contractor . I recommend M Mazza Paving to anyone and can confidently say Mike will do well by anyone he works for .

2021-05-28Called to get a quote for our driveway. Mike answered, sounded very nice and said he would stop on his way back from a job he was doing that day in Northville. He stopped outside our driveway for about thirty seconds that evening. He never called. My husband tried calling a week later. He didnt answer the phone this time and hasnt returned either phone call. Not a good way to conduct business.
