Always the best tasting food the best price and the largest quantity. Everything seems to be homemade. Cant say enough good things about this place. Family-owned family-run. UPDATE: after eating here at least 30 + times I can safely say this is the best Hidden Gem in all of Monroe County. Since theyve opened is my number one place to go for breakfast or on Fridays for the unbeatable fish fry not only is it massive but it is the flakiest and best-tasting haddock I have ever had I prefer the breading because it is a very very tasteful.
This probably the best breakfast diner in the state = and Ive eaten most everywhere. The last two times I was there I had Polish sausage and eggs .. And this morning the farmers omelette with marble rye toast (without hash browns or home fries, which are incredible). Whiten the waitress was delayed in picking up my breakfast by 30 seconds, one of the cooks came out of the kitchen to serve me and refill my coffee!!!
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT - NOT IMPRESSED. Got there at 6 pm. 3 in the party. 1 order was a fish fry the other was a Western 3rd was just soup. 7:15 the order came. A piece of fish and the western. Waitress was reminded about the fries and soup (which should have come first). Western in any restaurant Ive been in, is egg, ham, peppers and onions. Nope here it was a panini with chicken, bacon, cheese and bbq sauce. Guess i need to read the menu but Ive never known a Western to be anything else. Fries, soup, and roll never came. No waitress checked at all. Had to get up to ask for boxes. We sat by kitchen and heard other mistakes going on. Total disappointment - wont go back
Service was nice. Obviously a local place. Locals get served and fed first. I ordered the Homemade Corn Beef n Hash. Why you would make it taste and look like its from a can is beyond me but oh well. Locals like it thats what they make. Cute and cozy enough place. No one ever asked me if i enjoyed or liked my meal. I left over half of it left in the plate. I would have to say the food was ok. Edible and will make a good poo later for sure. Ill post a pick of it. It will probably look just like the original Corned Beef Hash. Stay tuned to find out.
Been going here for years !!Food is excellent, as is the service, and the prices ! Always open to variations and substitutions for menu items, coffee is always fresh, servers are very attentive, and friendly. Restaurant is always clean, restroom is acceptable, and clean.Owner and his family are, and have been the same for the 6 years Ive been going there ! I would DEFINITELY stop by and try it... Im sure youll agree with me !!!
Updated:Weve eaten at Maas dinner at least 3-4 times in 2022 since new owners. Still enjoy eating there, the menu is the same as far as I can see, prices may have changed a bit on some items but we understand and still very reasonable and fairly large portions, I still always have leftovers 👍 Theyre closed on Mondays, open Sunday 7am-230pm and Tues thru Friday, Saturday 7am-8pm. There are busier times and days but you can usually find a seat. They are in need of help as many places are and the staff are working Very Hard and theyre down to earth too. Love to hear some of the back and forth conversations between staff and long time patrons !!! Yes it gets hectic when very very busy and sometimes only one waitress but it doesnt deter too many people, its a smaller diner plus small parking lot .. Now thats its Spring and its getting warmer well eat there more often ... Come by, Enjoy the Food ... I think youre going to like Maas ☕🥞🍳🥤🍔🍟🥪🍜🥘🍺😋Old Review @1yr ago:Still love Maas, staff fantastic, food Excellent, they managed the social distancing issues but you may have wait times depending on time/days visiting. Sadly hours changed .. Closed Mondays, Tuesday-Thursday and Saturda&Sunday close at 230pm, Fridays 8pm and prices great for the amount of food you get, always have leftovers !!!
EDIT Jan 2022:Ownership/Management changed. The menu is the same, but the food is of poorer quality, like they use a different supplier or something. We keep trying to give it ‘another chance’, but every time at least one item is missing from the order. We literally place the order, then bet which items will be missing this time.I very frequently order the ‘piglet plate’ and it’s different every time: the amount of food, how well the fries are done, the taste of the Mac salad. My wife orders the Greek Salad often; will the dressing be included? Will there be feta cheese this time? Will it be mostly field greens or straight romaine? WHO KNOWS!Shame, it used to be a great restaurant.Original review:Maa’s is back! Maa’s is back! When they closed for COVID-19, my wife and I were so worried that they might not open back up. Not only have they re-opened, but they didn’t miss a beat. The food is just as amazing as it always has been, and the staff is still the best around! They have the drive-thru window open now, so do yourself a favor and pick up the best diner food in the country.
Losing Maas was really hard for our family. It was a quick place to grab dinner or lunch. I was surprised to find that they were open tonight (Friday, Nov 9) until 8:00. We ordered takeout. I ordered a battered fish fry and told the woman I spoke to how the fish frys used to be. Well, now i’m Telling her that the fish fry I had tonight was the best I’ve had since Mass closed for the pandemic. Delicious! Thank you!
Really impressed! I had been meaning to go here for a while and I finally found time to make it work.Got hash and eggs. Hash wasnt the best Ive ever had, but it was really good. They do a nice strawberry and banana pancake which is quite delicious.I put a hurting on as much as I could, but I couldnt finish both dishes as the portions were healthy!
Very affordable, really quick and friendly service. Greasy spoon, retro vibe. Coffee was decent. The breakfast melt was awesome and super filling. It had a mountain of fluffy scrambled eggs, two types of gooey cheese, and smokey ham. The bread got a little soggy on one side, but the sourdough was still tasty. My boyfriend let me steal some of his hashbrowns and I would like to order those next time. The home fries were good and very soft, but the hashbrowns had a nice flavor.
Great experience! Friendly servers , great cook ! . I was not expecting my food to be so perfect ! I ordered a short stack and got a giant pancake ! Which I loved . The food was delicious and fufilling . I will be visiting again soon ! Definitely worth the drive . If you haven’t stopped by yet you definitely should u won’t regret it I promise !
Oh yum. A classic diner decorated in good 50s / 60s style. The wait staff there is fantastic. Fast and friendly. The menu is very unique! Many choices that you will not see at any other restaurant, especially for breakfast. Prices are quite reasonable and the portions are more than ample. Dont worry if it looks crowded. The fast service moves people through pretty quick.
This is the best diner around! I have never gotten anything I didnt like, and they will customize without giving you trouble or charging extra. Breakfast always available. Portions are large, the price small for what you get. If you are going for Sunday lunch be prepared to wait, but otherwise I have usually been seated right away. The staff are friendly and fun.
Food wasnt great, wont be going back. Scrambled eggs were kinda hard cuz they were overcooked. Pancake was kinda rubbery and hard to cut. Home fries needed to be cooked longer. Disappointed since weve heard good things and as far as diners go, its a little pricier than most.
I am giving this place a 3 rating because of my meal. I ordered the prime rib and it came out not the way I asked it to be cooked and it was cold. I sent it back and it returned cold. However, the taste if the food was good. My wife ordered a Cuban sandwich and we both have to say it was delish. Servers were very nice.
Not enough time to gloat about this place. BEST Diner in the city, county, PERIOD! best and biggest plates and plate sauce, even compared to Charlies.. At charlies you get 1lb. of food for $11 here you get 3lbs. for $11 and everything is homemade even the potatoes. Breakfast is amazing as good as Billys down the road if not better. Staff is all family and show that they care about their customers. Best fried pickles, awesome burgers. i can go on and on. I know my food!!
Food was great. Portions huge. My waitress didnt seem thrilled to serve a solo diner when place was fairly full. Service was slow and she didnt ask how meal was, nor refill coffee until I flagged her down. Also, I mentioned getting food to go, but she dropped my check when she finally got m coffee refill, so I had to order from cashiers when I paid and the waitress brought takeout with an offended glance and said, I would have gotten that for you. Figure she was tired as it was only an hour before closing, and staff see friendly with regulars, so maybe it will be better once they know you
Very good food, so family oriented, could not ask for a better dinner that is like walking into your mother or grandmothers kitchen and getting a home cooked meal, also try the Fridays fish fry, so big for the price that we could make 2 meals out of it. Thank you to the servers and to the random regular that helped my son out if his seat, something that if my son dont know you or is comfortable with you, would he let you do. Like I said very family like atmosphere.
A good place to get ignored. I was visiting from out of town. Ordered coffee sat with an empty cup at the end of my table for over 15 minutes. Finally had to go up and get my own refill. Food is ok. But they only stop to drop it off and no follow up on the meal. Waitress was too busy on her cell phone showing pictures to another table. Unacceptable. Rude.
I am the toughest critic that I know. I worked in the Foodservice industry for 10 years I know how things should be done, now that being said I have come to this place quite a few times. The same woman takes care of me every time I wish I remembered her name because Lord that woman is worth remembering shes literally the best waitress Ive ever had the food here is always fantastic the staff is always friendly and on time and and on point and I just I love this place and if I wasnt trying to lose weight I would probably be here every single day
My family and I went to this Diner for the first time, they took our drink orders but never came back to take our meal orders. When I asked for the check for our drinks they were quick to get rid of us and said that the drinks were free. They have much rather dismiss us than to serve us. We were the only Hispanics just saying. So so sad
I like this place for the Veggie Burger with the fried Mac & Cheese ball on it. Was really disappointed cuz we placed our order & 5 min later they came back & said there was no Mac & Cheese balls. Its something I eat like once a year So its the reason I went. For breakfast, they have the most enormous pancakes Ive ever seen. Prices are moderate. & you get a ton of food for that price. Its a small place & tends to get busy, so be prepared to wait. If you have more than 4 ppl, Id call 1st. Its really not that big. Few counter seats, maybe 8 booths max & like 5-6 small tables. If you havent been, its worth trying. Something for everyone, not your average diner.
Another awesome visit . As I tell everyone be hungry when you arrive . They use Viking sized servings . Which I appreciate that . My better half always notices that they use a very fresh cut of meat for the burgers and they are always so juicy .The waiting staff and cooks are so nice and welcoming! They are always on top of it if you need anything they will be there even before you ask for assistance .I appreciate the good food no special names just some stick to your ribs goodness. They will also accommodate for low carb just by asking . I usually get burgers on a salad minus the bread . no funny looks no question just enjoy . Thank you Maas for being there to feed my face . :)
Have gone many times. Recognize most faces. Excellent food, friendly and quick service, and great value for the usually large portion sizes.EDIT: After months of staying in, we decided after waking up to order from Maas. After driving a bit, we realized that her being especially susceptible with the diner being open again was a scary risk. Yes, one that shouldve occured to us earlier. She called to cancel the order, offering immediately to still pay in full. The person in the other line was furious and nasty to her and Im not sure Ill be back, pandemic or no.
This place needs to expand so bad. The food is incredible and the place is always packed. Ive had lame service a few times but that could be sure to them busting at the seams to grow. Shouldnt detract from what they have going for any meal of the day. Pure awesome## A year later.. still fantastic. Love this place.
Always love this place. Tonight I was pretty mad. From the time I walked in it took 40 minutes to get food. Had to wait and wait to be seated. Then it took for ever to get waited on. Then it took a good 20 minutes to get the order. One good thing. The food was great as always when I finally got it.
This is like having breakfast lunch or dinner at home the waitresses there are fantastic and the food is just incredible the soups are all homemade and so is everything else down to the potato chips and if youre in the mood for pancakes or breakfast instead of a lunch or dinner try Andrews favorite my personal favorite banana pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream on it yum!! Go there every chance I get...
Huge portions of wonderful SAD (Standard American Diet) food. I had the Cuban Panini and my dad had the meatball sub. Neither of us ever touched the other half of our sandwiches. Both of our lunches were delicious. If you ate one meal here per day for a month, you would give the guy in supersize me a run for his money. I havent tried the breakfast, however the lunch is well worth the money.
Waitress lacks organization skills.Slow to make it to my tabe. ( 5 tables in all seated)Tryed changing what I ordered.Food slow to come out.Weird name calling every time waitress came to my table.Would not let me order when I wanted to order. Waitress came to my table 6 times before taking my food order.
Not very pleased that I got over charged and was told first it was right. Than after talking with the manger it was not right. Was told reast beef dinner does not come with soup and than was rudely told and than showed by Allison that I was wrong. I was not pleased at all.

2021-12-23Its really disheartening to see another one of my local eateries prepare to close its doors for good. But here we go again, if you havent been here in awhile or at all theres not much time left to do so. This diner had a classic look both inside and out from the quasi retro exterior to the counter service available inside. Your breakfast standards are offered but the specials are what kept me coming back. One of my favorite dishes in Rochester is located here and its a play on poutine. An extra crispy home fry potato base, topped with cheese curd & hollandaise sauce. Finished with poached eggs and bacon. Biscuits on the side complete this guilty pleasure. It can be a bit of a salt bomb but why are you thinking about that if youre at a diner to begin with. Please keep supporting local businesses!

2022-01-16This diner is small and looks a little run down. But the food was really good. One of us had the home made pancakes, 1 banana walnut, and 1 meatlovers. They were bigger than the plate. Then the other person had the fish dinner. The fish was perfectly battered fried and with 2 sides. It was all very tasty.

2022-03-18I hope this was an off night as this the worst dinner experience Ive ever had. Service was slow and inconsistent. Ordered a fish fry. Finished my fish and never got my soup or fries or dinner roll. So I only had a piece of fish. No refills on coffee. Since new owners total thumbs down.

2022-04-13I love this restaurant and have gotten several others hooked on it, too! The food is never greasy and it tastes amazing! I havent found a diner that even comes close!

2022-04-24Tasty diner style burgers and solid breakfast food. Friendly staff. Just be warned, even though it looks like a place that would have milkshakes, they dont because they dont have ice cream. Dont let that stop you though.
