I took advantage of the New York City Restaurant Week that was offered for set price of $20.21. So I gave Mabels Smokehouse & Banquet Hall a tryout on take out. Let me say, I was not disappointed in any way.Let me start by saying, the food was very good in flavor. The meal platters with meat portions and side orders were very generous. Plus they offer you some extra like pickles, coleslaw, pickled jalapenos, slice bread and extra barbecue sauce. This is a must try and its highly recommended as well. After this pandemic is over with, I need to come back to give inside dining a try as well.
I would say 3.75, (shrugs). The service was EXCELLENT! What a great crew, attentive and professional. The food was good, but not excellent. The side salad was embalmed with dressing that was too heavy, the beans are intense too, and the pulled pork/chicken too. The coleslaw was rich. And when that happens its just a bit overwhelming for the palate. Again, it was good, just way too many strong flavors together. I need to say this again, what a great crew!
The service here is great. Thank you Hope for patiently answering my questions and for the awesome service. The Brisket is moist and 😋 specially with that wonderful BBQ sauce. The prices are fair. Its a great space both indoors and outdoors with decor that feels like you might be in the midwest plus some good country music plays in the background.
Came here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon and got a table easily. I was surprised it wasnt packed, because the food was amazing. The brisket and pulled pork were juicy with a nice amount of fat. There are many bbq places in NY that serves dry and lean meat which I hate! I was jumping with joy after taking my first bite here. The pork ribs, however, was my favorite out of the three. Mac n cheese was surprisingly good despite the look. Corn bread was okay. Get the 3 meat combo and share it with a friend. It was a good deal in my opinion.
I never heard of Peanut Butter Pie until I got here. Its an interesting dessert item with flavors reminiscent of Reeses. The Beef Brisket Sandwich and Collard Greens were a solid entree. Lauren was also a nice hostess. Its best to come here during the weekdays as the weekends can be quite a cacophony of conversations and a hive of motion.
I’m having a hard time finding something I didn’t love about this place. The service was attentive and friendly, the music was spot on and made me feel like I was down south at a family cookout, and the food….. I go to a lot of bbq places but like I told our waiter this was by far the best I’ve encountered. So Smokey, and tender and rich. Simply astounding. This is truely bbq done right.
At first, I was required to order from the bar, which was a bit annoying and the bartender wasnt that friendly since he seemed to be way too busy. But once I ordered the food, although it took a while, it was damn sure worth the wait. Amazing BBQ food! Id would ask management to retrain that bartender dude though. Still thumbs up 👍
They had a pretty good selection of meats. A couple of friends and I came here on a Friday night for an early dinner. We got there around 6ish so there were lots of seats open, but the space itself is pretty big. They have long tables and at the front. In the middle there is some bar seating and some tables at the back. You order at the bar and they give you a number to put down wherever you decide to sit at. It was alright BBQ for NYC. My favorite side were the BBQ beans. They had a lot of flavor.
If you want to get stuffed until your pants button pops this is the place for you. They have very good bbq platters that serves more than enough food for two. We ordered a platter each and lets just say it kicked our butts. I would recommend this place if your are craving some bbq .
It feels like youre walking into a restaurant in the Deep South. Good prices, southern comfort food, laid back atmosphere. You can wear whatever you want here. Order at the counter find a table and they can bring your food to you based on your table number. You can also call ahead and do take out
BBQ is always Top Notch! Hot, fresh, and flavorful, Mables is my favorite place for BBQ when Im in the city. A relaxed atmosphere perfect for a group or just a quick bite. Has a full bar to meet all you drinking needs. I highly suggest the ribs and brisket! A must try for all BBQ lovers.
Good high quality food freshly preparedService can be more attentive .FOH of the staff can be more attentiveShort girl with dark hair and glasses had a poor attitude. Just because you have good food doesn’t mean people will return . FOH service is equally as important .
Everything was good to great. We had the brisket chili (really good), brisket (great), pulled pork (I thought was good, my gf not so much), ribs (she thought was good, I liked it but thought it had too much sauce), potato salad and yams (both really good and balance each other out. One is a little on the salty side the other is close to being too sweet). Ill definitely be making a trip back to have the items I missed out on.
Good food at this Williamsburg BBQ joint. Actual entrance is on N. 11th, not Berry. Customers order food and drinks at counter or bar and staff brings it to your table. Had the brisket and kielbasa combo platter and thought it was cooked well. Bare bones presentation. Tried the candied yams because they were hyped elsewhere. Tasty, but nothing special. Collard greens seasoned with meat as they should be. Would go back.
Decent bbq spot with a good selection of food to choose from. Pulled pork was good, Cole slaw was very very good, corn bread good. Service was ok... You get a menu, walk up to them and tell them what you want and theyll bring it over. Other than that no real interaction as someone else pointed out. Had the two platter meal with a beer and left hungry... (Cost about $30 for everything)
As a visitor from the UK, I was really looking forward to eating at a BBQ smokehouse. I came across Mables using reviews on Google where the aggregate rating was 4.3 so I thought it was a sure thing, but I was SO disappointed! I have had better smoked meats and BBQ in the UK.The mac n cheese tasted like it came from a packet, the brisket taco was incredibly bland, the wings were tough and dry, and the BBQ sauce was too acidic and did not have a smokey taste. If youre in the area, stick to pizza!!
Not a good BBQ joint, my meat did not fall off the bone, no beef rib options, the Mac and cheese tasted like microwave Mac and cheese..No love given to it or real cheese. The corn bread was tasteless. The waiter was nice but never came to ask If we were ok ...or how was everything. I would never return 180.00 and I like nothing ...never again
Had a late dinner at this rustic restaurant. The staff is very friendly and inviting. The food was amazing. Brisket and Ribs were tender and delicious. Kielbasa was soft and juice. Overall the food and service was great. Will definitely recommend and will be coming back for more !!
The barbecue was the worst I’ve tasted anywhere in nyc, comparable to Dallas BBQ. Stay clear of both. We orders the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. They ALL tasted like they were basted in some kind of discussing fat. The cornbread was the best thing on the menu. The service was good.
Used to love this place. Went in on a Monday and was one of three parties there. Food took 45 minutes to come out as order after order went out for delivery. Eventually the waiter noticed we still haven’t gotten our food and pieced it together the bartender forgot to put in our order. When our food finally came out the order was wrong. Getting the check took another 20 minutes after specifically asking two waiters for it. Comped the drinks but insanely bad service and food has gone way down hill. Measly portions of subpar bbq. The velveeta Mac and cheese is good but you can’t credit this place for that. Will never be coming back.
Worst food I’ve had since I’ve lived in New York. My ribs were cold to the touch, all other meats were lukewarm at best. Service was astonishing terrible, non attentive and rude as could be in the very minimal interaction he had with us. The Mac and cheese looked like frozen Mac, it was just so bad. Take your money literally anywhere else.
Great food! We arrived right when they opened at noon, so we had the servers full attention. The food was reasonably priced, came out quickly, and was delicious! I wish they had unsweet tea, but I guess that would be an unSouthern thing to do? I had the pulled chicken sandwich and it was very good. The cornbread was moist & yummy too.
This restaurant straight up robbed me when I ate there in person one time. I payed $100 dollar bill by card, and tipped $25 in cash. When I look at my card charges online I was charged $130. I called and asked to speak with a manager twice, the manager was never there. I was told to leave my name, number and email and the manager would get back to me, nothing happened. I had to get a refund through the bank. Also the food is good when in person. But if you order through Uber or other services, the sandwiches come ice cold, literally every time. Very disappointed.
I read all the great reviews so I ordered from here but the ribs had little meat on it and smokey flavor which I was not expecting. The braised beef was disappointing also. Maybe my expectations were too high. But the Mac and cheese and yams were good. I will not be going back.
I enjoyed myself so much last Saturday. We all had taken advantage of the brunch special consisting of those well-seasoned brisket sandwiches: I had the delicious cornbread while hubby and a family friend had the mac and cheese and potato salad.Hubby described the side dishes as on point. I had a hot coquito drink that was pretty good.Of the two waitresses on staff, the one who waited on us was amazing. That is, despite being short-staffed and serving food outside. It was pretty chilly out there. But when the weather gets warmer, we could comfortably sit outside and have brunch again.
This is the best BBQ we’ve found in the city. It’s Oklahoma-style BBQ (sweeter sauce). You can’t go wrong with the pulled pork or chopped brisket sandwich (and a sweet tea for the drink). For the sides, get the mac & cheese and cornbread… For starters, the chips and queso are great to share.
Food taste amazing and the servers were extremely friendly and helpful. The food prices was really reasonable. I would recommend the Mac and Cheese, Cornbread, and Ribs for anyone that is visiting. The tables outside were distanced properly and the servers disinfected the tables before we were seated. They also offer takeout in case the tables outside are full. Overall a great experience and I would visit again!
We set down at a sticky table. Soon as we set down, a fly came stay at the table too. I’m so concerned that the fly would got stuck on the table since the table was so sticky. We ordered the wings, the ribs and the brisket. The food is just ok. The ribs dried all the way and was very burned. I’m a little disappointed.
Okay food and slow service. Brisket was really good and that’s about it. Everything else was average. Tried the pulled chicken, candied yam, potato salad, Mac and cheese, wings, and salad. It’s not a place I will look forward to going back to but I wouldn’t not go back either.
I missed Mables so much!! I always get double the brisket, the kielbasa and a ton of sides. So many extra sauces and garnishes too....plus i had the Frito pie made like it should be from the Frito bag!! So YUMMY. Theyve got a sweet staff, too- maybe the nicest in the whole neighborhood besides the cute guy at the Cafe Beit take out window...🤣🤣🤣
I absolutely love Mables, in fact we used them for food for our very small, socially distanced wedding during the lockdown.Their food is outstanding, the ribs fall off the bone, the candies yams are to die for. They have an excellent selection of drinks, I suggest the bloody Mary. You cannot go wrong with a trip to Mabels Smokehouse, dont forget to tip your server.
Nice place, food is good but I was not blown away. I love good BBQ brisket this was tougher and drier than I like. Had the potato salad and mac & cheese were good. The slice of white bread on the plate seemed like they were trying to make statement than anything else. The prices were a little high for the quality. If youre looking for amazing BBQ in NYC keep looking. If you are looking decent BBQ and a nod to hipster Brooklyn, you found your spot.
I stopped by yesterday at around 630 pm. Place was empty. That made me very happy and it was happy hour. Sat with my partner and we decided to order food. We had to go do that at the bar. I ordered a pull pork sandwich and they didnt offer fries as a side, so i settled for the mac and cheese. The food came quick. The bun was a potato bun with seeds. Instead I think you guys shouldve used a brioche bun because the meat was very tasty but that bread.. horrible. Also, the mac does not taste authentic. Straight out the box maybe. Other than that, I had a good time.FYI-- the drinks were good & my partner enjoyed his food. Which satisfies me enough to come back and try something different next time.Until then.
Rating 3.5 Ribs are small but juicy! Not a ton of meat on them so you can eat all 5 in one sitting. The char I wasnt much of a fan of and skipped around it. The Bbq sauce is not sweet but quite vinegary (not spicy). I wish they also had a sweet & smoky version to choose from. Sides are hefty imo. The collard greens were great! The beans were pretty decent (bacon unnecessary). Wanted cornnbread, but 2 small muffins are $7! Way overpriced when you can buy a whole box of cornbread mix for $0.95. The outdoor seating was spaced, open for ventilation and had overhead heat lamps! Def a plus. I dont live in the area and wouldnt make a special trip back. The meal was overall decent. More meaty ribs and diff sauce would have made all the difference.
I want to.give it 4.5 stars, but no such luck. Anyway, the place is awesome. Super chill and casual. The service is kinda weird, in that they seat you upon arrival, then you have to go to the bar yourself to order not only your drinks, but your food too. Then throughout the meal, if you want to add more food, or get more drinks, yup, thats another trip to the already super busy bar. That aside, the food is very very good. The ribs, sausage and both style wings were the clear winners, with the brisket and pulled meats in a distant second. The sides were all delicious while the potato salad was the clear sides champ! Oh, and the cornbread was great too. Come here for a great/fun time and bring your thinking cap, trivia games running over the speakers. 4.5 stars!
…. My OL Betsy was faster than this old Mabel! Was told 20min p/u - walked in exactly in 20 and still waited and extra 30 minutes for a manager to give me a Baseless and Rude Answer - This is classic; when the Owner Neglects a successful restaurant- I should of gone to the spot on metropolitan ave ….
Worth the trip and money for Ribs, collard greens, and Old Fashioned Ice Tea.Sauce is unique and out of this world. Depth of flavor, ignore any bad review!Every side is delicious. The rest of the menu is decent. A little dry for my one experience. I tried it all on the family style.Ill come back and order ribs. Best in NYC
Its like walking into an rustic and industrial space. Service was very welcoming and patient as you decided what you want to order. Portion sizes are pretty friendly and shareable. The brisket isnt too fatty and the crust is not as peppery as most places. The crust leaned on the sweeter side. The meat is tender and juicy. The queso is classic and no frills but just want you want, cheesy goodness. The corn bread is tender and has a crispy exterior. It leans more on the savory side and good corn flavor. Its a good choice for BBQ and if you need a huge space for large gatherings.
Wings are the best I ever had, theyre smoked then grilled not fried, so they are tender, juicy, and delicious. The brisket was even better and all the sides were amazing, even the collard greens are something to crave! The service was surprisingly fast and very friendly, I look forward to coming back in the near future 😋
Down and dirty BBQ joint. No frills, but great food. We had the ribs and brisket - both were amazing. Order and pay at the bar. They also had a good selection of drinks with a couple of more unique beers and ciders. If theres a down side, its not a huge place so I imagine it could get pretty crowded, but we went as a group of four and found a place to sit right away. Our recommendation is to do a tour of the Brooklyn Brewery nearby and follow it up with some good BBQ.
The best food ever. I had the ribs, corn bread, and baked beans both visits and the meal was consistently good. The service was wonderful on a weekday lunch hour, not so great on a weekend dinner (the woman at the counter was quite demeaning and rude, and Im still not sure why. She refused to put in a dessert order for me and referred to me as girl, that girl, little girl. Very odd behavior.) Again, the food I got was great.
Pretty awesome choice for some BBQ when in Brooklyn. Service was homey and prompt. Food was decent and portions were abundant. Easy to miss at night, especially in weather, so keep an eye out; it is between the Brooklyn brewery taproom on the corner and the whisky bar on the other corner.
The atmosphere of this place is really nice, it had a very western pub feeling. We used the yelp check-in to get tacos were really good. Our party order ribs and 2 sides of mac and cheese and sweet yams. The ribs were really tender and sauce made it better. It wasnt over sauced or anything. We enjoyed our time here. It happened to be Monday night trivial and we joined in for a little bit and that was a fun time overall.
Love this place. Word of mouth: My neighbor told me about it and while not Tennessee style (my fave bbq) Mable’s is still the best in Brooklyn. Yesterday, I had an order mixup that had nothing to do w the restaurant but rather the fault of a third party delivery service, and Mable’s totally went the extra mile. Really appreciate it!!
I went to this place with my boyfriend. We got the Saint Louis ribs with Mac and cheese and corn bread ( just one plate for the both of us) was enough. The food was on point and they have good customer service. My boyfriend and I got out of the restaurant and said We are definitely coming back . In addition, they have brewery 🍻. Yay!
For some reason I never felt welcomed at this establishment. I only dined in once and recently ordered to go. Even picking up food, I didnt feel like she was happy to see me, as if I was disturbing her. Not sure if Im going back but the food was okay. I would recommended the sausage and the Marconi salad.
Went there while waiting for friends. It exceeded our expectations for sure! The food was great and the drinks were cold. They had the nicest staff and were very welcoming to us. We had a 2 year old with us and they still were very nice to us! Will definitely go back.
The ribs were very good but the sides not so much. I prefer a baked mac & cheese, but the collards were actually pretty good due to the bacon theyre cooked in and its a pretty good amount of food. Big downfall is the fact that you have to order your food at the bar as you maneuver around the people sitting at the bar.
Great meats, decided to have a second order of the pulled pork after having the pulled pork sandwich & finding it so nice. BBQ sauce was really tasty as were the pickled beets I had. The cornbread was a bit bland (as noted by some others), Ive had better.Place was very quiet but it was early in the evening, and that wasnt a bad thing as it meant ordering was quick and easy and the staff were friendly and attentive. Very useful spot for before or after drinking in the Brooklyn brewery next door!
Enjoyed the pulled pork and brisket. The portions are certainly generous. You will not feel as if you overspent here. You order at the register and they deliver to your table. Communal tables are available in a casual, laid back atmosphere. The barbecue is good but not great but I would definitely go back.
My God... the brisket here is amazing! So soft that it nearly melts in your mouth. I came with a group of 14. We had all decided to go with the family style meal, which gave us a variety of meats and sides. The meat had me on cloud nine, but the sides were hit and miss. The mac and cheese, potato salad, and sweet potatoes were amazing. The rest werent bad, but it left me wanting.Great selection of drinks, friendly staff, and a setting that almost has me thinking Im in Texas. I couldnt ask for anything more.
The food was ok, nothing to talk about. The brisket was a bit tough and hard to cut, it was like cutting into a steak. Def not the melt in your mouth experience I was expecting. The portions was good. As for customer service there wasn’t any real interaction. We were given menus upon walking in but after that we were totally on our own. Not too thrilled about the space or decor.
The best BBQ in all of Brooklyn!! Try the ribs, or the brisket.. Or the chicken, because they are all amazing!! Smoke chicken wings are life changing... And dont forget the mac n cheese!!!Awesome staff who is quick and helpful, and a great staff to help you, and awesome music to listen to while eating.
Reeeeeally good bbq. I mean really good. The service is excellent as well. Very friendly & attentive staff. I stopped by for lunch with my husband & daughter on the 4th of July & enjoyed some brisket. It melted in my mouth. It wasnt overly seasoned either, which I very much appreciate as brisket can sometimes be salty. The sides were fantastic too. I had yams & cornbread. The yams had marshmallows & pecans in it. What a lovely recipe! The cornbread was fresh & moist. Just talking about it is making me want to go back today.
The service here is horrible. I came last night with my husband to celebrate my birthday and we finally got to order our food and drinks with a waitress. As we were waiting for our food to get prepared .. the general manager decided to kick us out because I had a bottle of water from outside. The general manager had the nerve to tell me to finish drinking my water bottle or they will not offer us any service meanwhile we just finished ordering food. The general manager was extremely disrespectful. I will never come back here again. It’s sad to see how the staff treats their customers and most of all the “GENERAL MANAGER”. Very unprofessional!! I WOULD NOT RATE ANY STARS FOR THIS PLACE!
I dont know how anyone rated this place less than 5 stars. I think they need to visit Mabels again. Tuesday nights are my favorite at Mabels. Try the brisket, Mac and cheese, and BBQ baked beans. Seemingly simple food with perfect flavors. The ribs, pulled pork and sausage are also good. Extremely quick service and friendly staff.
Delicious. After seeing an interview if the owners on the news I had to try it out. I had the brisket with cornbread and mac and cheese. The brisket was so tender and flavorful. The house BBQ sauce was great the cornbread (in mini muffin form) was good not dry. The platter also came with pickles, cole slaw, and 2 slices of white bread. Full meal, good price, great food.P.S. shortly after i walked in two other patrons who had seen the same broadcast walked in to dine. They spoke to one of the owners and she was very personable.
Its self service... Seating system is strange. One person from the party has to stay seated so they can hold the table. Both my friend and I got up to look at the food options and someone had taken our seats, we had to ask the hostesses to remove them. Food was ok, staff is nice. Pretty casual spot
Have had problems with them in the past but when the food is good, its good. However, this time was the last straw. Ordered at 8:35 and didnt get the food until almost 11pm. I called and got a long story from the manager that i didnt care to hear only for her to say shed call me back after she spoke with the driver (who allegedly got lost), yet she never called back. The driver FINALLY decided to show up, only to not have all of the food we ordered. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Through all this madness & sadness hubby & I wanna to keep our favorite spots alive so he said we should to order from Mables I say sure, so placed an order with sweet Ashley at 1:30 to be picked up at 3:30 got there decided to order my fav Cherry Limeade to go . Came home heated up wings we ordered both flavors they were absolutely delicious, ribs and all sides were a party in my mouth so thank you for your service and letting us feel as if EVERY LITTLE THINGS GONNA BE ALRIGHT 💜 be safe & see you soon and thanks Ashley
Went with 3 friends, wanted some ribs and brisket, they were out of both. Still had pulled pork, so I ordered a couple platters of that along with a sandwich and a few sides. When the food came, they didnt have the 2 pork platters. Turns out they werent even on the ticket. I specifically remember asking the woman at the register, and this is enough food for the four of us? She said yes. Now since we havent paid for the platters they cant make them for us. Several different employees come to the table to try to resolve the situation, all equally unhelpful. Finally figure out what to do, but by then they are also out of pulled pork. This an hour after we got to the restaurant now. They end up finding some secret stash of the stuff and eventually get us our food, but the service was very poor. Music was so loud I couldnt hear myself think, let alone communicate. At least the food was good.
Not a huge fan of Mables. Went for a friends birthday on a Thursday night over the summer and the place was fairly empty for most of the night.Summer + BBQ = Empty does not compute in my head. The food was...OK, I guess. Got the pulled pork with a side of corn off the cob and mac and cheese. The pork was fine. Nothing special, ate every bit of it, but wasnt so good I wanted more, even though I was still hungry. Id get into more detail, but honestly it just didnt stand out.The corn was also fine. It was definitely fresh and had some butter. Being off the cob was interesting and appreciated.I did not like the mac and cheese. For me, the pasta was overcooked and the sauce was more creamy than cheesy. That may be some folks ideal dish of mac and cheese, but its certainly not mine. A bit of crunch to add texture may have made it more palatable. The bar was a bright spot. They had some sort of cherry limeade on special that was quite good. After I got sick of being made fun of for drinking something that wasnt manly enough for my friends there was a decent selection of whiskey.Maybe it was an off night for Mables. Or maybe it was one for me. Either way I dont see myself returning.
Slow but yum. Had ribs and wings, both extremely delicious, no real need for further saucing. Succulent and rich, the pickles made a good counterpoint. Mac was solid, though not out of this world (could use some crispies), I dont know how the corn bread was as my bf ate all of it, so I guess that means good, right?
WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. Came in and said food would be ready in 45 minutes. Ive been here TWO HOURS and have yet to get my food. People in the table next to us have been told 3 separate times that they were out of brisket, only to have other tables get brisket. Every time I went to the counter to ask when it was going to be ready, they kept saying it was next in line to come out. Apparently had a big catering order right as we ordered, but they still should make sure the people in store arent being ignored. Do not recommend if you want to actually eat in a timely manner.
It was my first time eating from this place. I ordered takeout through their app. An app that they advertise on their website. Ordered two plates to be picked up. They send you an email with estimated time it will be ready. And then another email when your food is ready. We live about 10 minutes away. So when I received the email that our food was ready, I sent my husband to go get it. When he got there the food was not ready. In fact they had not even started to cook the food. Which was already paid for during ordering. Not only was the food not cooked but the staff was confused when they were told we ordered online! So it took them another 10 mins or so to figure this out. (Now I will say the staff was friendly and the atmosphere while waiting in the restaurant was nice)Finally my husband gets our food and takes the less then 10 minute drive home. I immediately open up the food to eat and while the top of it was hot and middle is cold. Refrigerator cold!!!! I was really pissed. Very small portions and cold food!! After reheating my food, I was still disappointed because the food did not taste good at all. My husband and I only picked through to taste it but untimely decided to go to our corner bodega for sandwiches. Expensive food that taste gross. Never ordering from here again.
My husband and I are visiting from London. We stopped by for a drink and were super impressed with the hospitality and friendly staff! We also met the owners (Megan and Geoff) they were so lovely! Well be back before we fly home to try the food. It looked so tasty! We will definitely recommend to other friends visiting New York.
Say youre in the neighborhood and have cravings for great BBQ meat, then Mables Smokehouse & Banquet Hall IS the place to go to!We had a 3 Meats 3 Sides De Lux Platter:- St Louis Ribs: 😋 soft and tasty- Pulled Pork: 😋 sweet and saucy- Brisket: ☹️ dry and blend- Creamy Mac N Cheese: 😋 its really creamy!- Collard Greens: 🙂 some vegetables cant hurt- Country Black Eyed Peas: 😐 just OKand were mostly satisfied. There definitely are better BBQ places but this is still a good one.
OOOOMMMMGGGG. If youve been to dinosaurs, this place is WAY better. I had the chicken which was seasoned beyond perfection. It had a jerk youre of taste you it. The ribs were falling off the bone south just the right hint of bbq and wood. For sides I had the sweet potatoes. It had a hint of brown sugar. The Mac and cheese was good. The greens were good. Overall, I loved it. 5 stars. I wish I could get paid to eat here. And this is a real review, not some employee.
I’ve yet to try the food, but passing along some constructive feedback on customer experience. We placed an order for take out sides: baked beans and corn bread only. Both are pre-made. I’ve been waiting for 15 minutes because the line cooks fulfill in order of receipt regardless of what the order is. The risk of an open kitchen is you can see when people are standing around. Recommendation would be to have a fast lane type arrangement for take out similar to other counter style restaurants. Food looks good, so didn’t want to provide a random 1 Star.
Favorite barbecue in NYC hides behind a confusing address and ordering system but the pulled pork and the yams make it all worthwhile. Brisket, collards, everything you need in the platter. The friendly bartender keeps you coming back even when you pay $30+ for the plate (maybe that’s why you have to order from the bar?).
Table layout is poor. Server overlooked our table twice while trying to bring out our food.Server misheard our order and thought we got a a brisket platter and two sides instead of a brisket platter and a rib platter. Our bill was $40 for a half pound of meat and 4 small sides. Also, pricing online is out of date. Sides were $6 each now they are $8 each. The brisket tasted like black pepper and the texture was decent. Creamy Mac and cheese and candied yams were decent but not worth $8 each
The pulled pork is pretty good (not the best). The ribs leave a LOT too be desired (had to forcibly pull the meat off the bone). They were out of the brisket. The portions are comparable to driving a Smartcar through Texas. Food is worth 3-4 stars, portions worth -1 for the price. All 4 of us left hungry less $70.
The baby back ribs were absolutely spectacular. My only regret was ordering the brisket. It resembled tri-tip and its dryness wasnt what I expected. The sides are delicious and the ordering process is pretty straight forward. They also go hard with a texan theme that seems pretty accurate. It is wicked loud if you go on a weekend.
Loved Mable’s! Their brisket is moist and smokey it taste delicious with their jalapeño vinegar. A platter comes with 2 heaping side portions and 3 accompaniments of slaw, pickles and pickled veggies. We tried the Mac and cheese and bet’s potatoes salad and both were out of this world good. The Mac and cheese was creamy and had a hint of spice while the potatoe salad was great for balancing all the smokey and tangy flavors. Not only is their food delicious but they have a full bar and great list of canned and beers on draft. Will definitely be coming back to this Brooklyn bbq joint!
I went here based on Tracis review. The place was packed. The hostess was super nice. We ordered a full rack of ribs with a side of brisket, along with potato salad, mac n cheese, Frito pie, and an icy cold draft beer. The food was delicious. I was definitely leaning toward the ribs. There was very little to no fat. The rub made the ribs taste delicious. It was served along with a tangy bar-b-que sauce. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Frito pie was just okay. It is basically chili with Frito chips on the top. There are large tables with chairs. Some of the tables are communal tables. There are tables and chairs for smaller parties (2 to 4 people) on a slightly (three steps up) higher level but it was cold, as it was near a window. The restaurant is very nice. Large full service bar. Prices are reasonable. I would go back. I highly recommend it.
Do not come here if your looking for good soul food. I had the slab of ribs, Mac & cheese and potato salad. The ribs were okay, but the sides was horrible. The Mac & cheese was like kafts out of a box. The potato salad is disgusting, no taste at all. Wont eat here again!!
Service was great as they always kept the tables clean and cleared after our buffet style bbq. The place is set up with long picnic tables and benches which is great for large groups and parties. They also kept the hot trays full as well. We had the ribs, brisket, pulled pork and sausage with sides. My favorites were the brisket, pulled pork and hot sausage. The brisket was lean and juicy and matched well with the house bbq sauce which wasnt too spicey. The sausage had a nice spicey kick to it. Favorite sides were the pickled beet salad and the collard greens. For dessert we had peanut butter pie and key lime pie. Not a standout but adequate dessert. Come for the brisket and pulled pork.

2022-05-17Decided on a belated birthday dinner here and everything was excellent. I’ve ordered from here in the past but have never been to the location. It’s open with bench style sitting and cute mix and match chairs. It smells AMAZINGThe menu is very much a la cart and everything on this menu is delicious. Since there were five of us we ordered plenty, ribs, brisket, pulled chicken, corn bread, collard greens, candied yams, Mac and cheese and some cocktails. My picky eaters loved everything.

2021-10-29Got recommended this place and did not disappoint! It was a perfect ending after the sauna from the Bathhouse next doorGot the brisket and St Louis Ribs platter. Moist, flavorful, and just the right amount of sides and portions. Their peanut butter pie is very decent too. Just go already! :)

2022-03-02*Second order through delivery:The strew with cornbread was crazy! Lots of ingredients in the strew, chunk meat, potato, and carrot.I also like the cornbread since they remained whole corns to add the texture. It was soft with chewy corns between.Smoke house salad was classic. A little bit pricy but it was worth to add meat. Sausage was juicy and tasty!*First-time order:Need more rib place like this one! Ordered through delivery, rib & brisket platter with collard green and candied yam.🦴I highly recommend their ribs since I haven’t had any rib that is juicy for a long time. Buy they did it!Brisket was ok, above the average. It was soft and moist. And for the sides, love the 🍠candied yam! Not too sweet but enough to be even a dessert. Collard green is normal, classic.

2022-05-03Disappointed. Ribs burnt (hidden underneath). Mac n cheese looks like from the instant pack. Drinks not good. Watered mojito (had to change it to another drink). Happy hour pricing misleading and was not properly explained. Tolerated the food and drinks coz we wanted to enjoy the day. We ordered the deluxe platter. Charged extra for the fixins without informing that there was an extra charge. Did not even acknowledge that they are wrong. Even if it’s 1 cent the customer should know the charges. Did not show the receipt until asked. This establishment was flustered when a customer asked for explanation about the receipt and acted defensive. I bet most customer would just dismiss the small charge that would usually go unnoticed (esp if you are drunk to ask for the receipt). Needs improvement on customer service. Customer service sucks. Could have resolved the issue with a simple acknowledgment of their mistake. Manager/owner thinks highly of herself. Won’t be coming back and won’t definitely recommend. (Note: I was waiting for the police to come while enjoying a beer at the brewery nearby so I could tell them your violation).

2021-11-06Awesome place, great portions, no knives needed as meat is so tender and moist. Hannah is a great server, very tentative and observant to all customers. Definitely did not expect to find this gem in Brooklyn NY.

2021-06-25Do your taste buds a favor and visit this smokehouse BBQ spot. It was a mouth watering experience. My fav was the Chopped Beef Brisket and the Mint Lemonade. This place is great! The atmosphere was cool, and the BBQ aroma was even better. I chose to sit inside just so I can smell my food being prepared. Kinda like at grandmas house.
