Macys in other cities:
We chided during their annual ode to springtime is in full bloom at Macy’s Herald Square in 2022, with thousands of stunning flowers & lush plants transforming their flagship store into one of the most colorful destinations in NYC. This can’t-miss show spotlights beautiful blossoms & the fresh fragrances they evoke—it’s a scent-sational way to usher in the new season. They have a Starbucks on 1 1/2 floor where you can sit at the window view.
This is THE classic NYC store 💖. People come for the fashion and the cosmetic and perfume displays. I come for the escalators. The wooden ones. Just like I did when I was a kid. The R.H. Macy story is epic in itself, but its the iconic experience that keeps you coming back. There is even a Carvel inside the store now. 😁
Macys on 34th Street is exactly what youd expected to be. A magical place. From all the window displays to all the lighted advertisements within the place, all the restaurants and cafes scattered throughout the building, the wooden escalators, as well as the flower displays outside during the spring flower season. Its a whole experience to be here and Macys does it well.
I was amazed at how huge this place was. It literally has nine floors of any and everything you could possibly want. Its the biggest Macys in the world I believe. My biggest frustration was there were hardly any employees besides the ones who were trying to get you to buy every perfume and cologne there was. I also felt alittle anxious because of so many people were there but there was one little thing that I really appreciated that gave me a nostalgic feeling... Going toward the higher floors they had the original escalators that gave such an authentic and original feel of what this location felt like many years ago. If you enjoy shopping at Macys then youll absolutely go crazy over this location.
The largest Macys department store located in New York City, prepare to spend hours in the department store if you want to shop. There are levels and levels of items categorized in brand and style. you may take the escalator upward or downward in One Direction continuously shopping non-stop until you drop. The male section is located in the corner of the shop, you will not be needing to go back and forth finding the right section you want to shop in.Every now and then there are some discount offer for you to get the same item for way better price than expected make sure you check out with the staff to see the final price
The clearance area on floor 8 was full of incredible bargains. Would have bought a lot more except for worries about luggage weight..🥺 was great to be able to stop for a break to get a fantastic pretzel, could also have had McDonalds in-store but was too early in the day!!
Ok, we get it. This is the biggest Macys store, right? Which is exactly why I needed to sit down after walking several blocks from the hotel and around the city. So, while in the mens section my son wanted to look around while me and my 8 year old wait for him. As we approached the sitting/waiting area I immediately notice a man laid back with his legs up watching something on his cell phone. As were walking closer I then notice discarded food packages on the floor and then to my shock I realize that the mans pants are so far down I can see his entire boxers👀😳. Without taking another step forward, I immediately take my 8 year old child and leave to find a store associate. As I approach the register, I observed 3 woman and immediately identify one as a store associate who appeared to be helping one of the other 2 women. After several minutes of standing at the counter and no one acknowledging me, I realize that the third women is also a store associate. After getting their attention by asking, do you work here? They both confirm that they do and at this point, Im not even sure where the customer walked off to, so I discreetly explain what I saw in the waiting/sitting area. Their response, yes, we know. 🤷🏽♀️Truth be told, I have no idea what that man intended to do or had already done with his pants down. But those associates seemed the least bit concerned🤔. So, as any parent would do, I took my boys and walked to another section of the store.
Flagship store. They are decorated for the holidays. Store looks beautiful. If you havent been there in a while, lots of changes, things moved around. Nice to go to a big department store where they have everything. They have a mini Apple store on the main level, Starbucks, every brand name you can think of. Take a ride on the original wooden escalator to the basement. Not too many employees to help you out, they have signs all around encouraging you to go on their app. They also have many signs to remind you to wear masks, distance yourself 6ft, but was not enforced, or do you see any staff members cleaning.
PROS: This Macys puts all other Macys into shame! Very big, and renovated. Best Xmas windows and inside decorations in town too. Staff is semi nice and they even have the only wooden escalator in the country.CONS: With a store as big as that theres no directory which makes it confusing to find a certain sectionOVERALL: If youre in the area, you have to check this out. Even if you dont like Macys, this one is the exception
Theres a hidden corner to this gem of a store that is vastly unknown. The original founder and his wife sadly lost their lives on the Titanic (look up the story, I wont ruin the tale of true love for you). Underneath the Starbucks is an entrance with these memorials and its well worth a look
The Annual Flower Show @ Macys is Yet again 🌺🌸🌼🌻...From the minute You Step in the Door...The Sweet Aroma of All kinds of Exotic Flowers Greets Your sense of Smell & What a Wonderful sight -breathtaking ...I dont always have a chance to catch the Annual Macys Flower Show and Christmas 🎄 windows display .but when I do catch it...Im Never Disappointed, Highly recommend it ‼️‼️
This is one giant store! This place is loaded with merchandise. There are restaurants here also. A person could easily spend many hours shopping. I didnt see much in the way of bargains. It is kind of annoying that the mens restroom is all the way in the basement. I havent seen wooden escalators in a long time.
Sort of disappointed with the Christmas display windows on Macys this year (2021). Our family shops and visits west 34th street Macys every year. It is part of our family tradition to take photos in front of the Christmas displays because the mechanical displays and details were amazing. This year the side displays between West 33rd and 34th street side is lack of traditional mechanical detailed displays and some even only display brand advertisements only. Disappointed... The tradition is going away... =(
Hugo at Jo Malone was amazing. I just came back to the states the day before. I was on my way back home to the Burgh. I immediately connected to him because of the love he had for the brand and his love of traveling around the world. The attentiveness and care for his clients is exceeding expectations. Hugo is amazing and deserves to get a promotion because he gave me the best experience I ever had. I have been working with amazing people at Jo Malone for years, everyone is great and positive. But Hugo stood out to me because he exceeded my experience; and he was so passionate about the brand and the people who visit. He creates the ideal customer experience and you can tell he loves people and loves what he does.
Awsome... great deals and varieties....number one shopping destination...love it....you get whatever in clothings to perfumes to make up to to shoes to sportswear to watches to all best brands and huge choices....convinent shopping but one needs to have lots of time or pre decided list to shop or else you get lost in shopping heaven...
Excellent store, even they have a full level for plus size. I was impressed. However I was surprised that all the employees in level 7 in plus size section refused to purchase for us on Wednesday 23/2/2022 at 8 pm and said go to level 6 or level 4 to pay! I asked one of them for a bag to put my stuff as they were heavy but she said we don’t have!Mrs Virginia helped us and was very patient I loved her. Also her supervisor was of great help.
Visited this huge store (it covers a whole block!) to purchase a red dress for a themed party. I found a huge selection and found my perfect look. The reason for the 5 stars however, is due to the customer service. Being from the UK I was not 100% sure re sizes and was confused with the P on the label. The saleslady was very patient with me, explained that P means petite as assured me that the dress I had chosen would fit perfectly, which it did. Thank you so much Macys!
This may be the flagship store, but the way watches are treated is anything but. I went to this store at 9:00pm on Thursday, December 16, 2021, and saw a Casio MR-G B1000 D-1A; a $2,600, all-titanium, G-Shock. I asked to see it, and I was shown the watch. The watch was on LAST ACT! and marked down 60% off. I told the woman behind the counter that if there was any discount via a Macys Store card that could be stacked, I would buy the watch. Little did I know that this would be the start of a mess. While I was waiting and filling out the paperwork, several other persons that I could only piece together were security, a floor manager, and a higher manager were debating what to do with this watch. I can only gather that they felt that either someone had pulled an inside job, or the place was cased. Thankfully, I had brought with me one of my best friends (we had just finished dinner at a lovely Persian Restaurant nearby), and he witnessed the entire thing. It took about 20 minutes of the sales rep, the security person, the floor manager, and I assume the higher up manager, to verify nothing wrong had been done, and to complete the sale.I purchased the watch, which was a LOVELY watch, but upon arriving home, made the discovery that the wrong case and box was given to me. The case I was given was the hexagonal generic G-Shock case used for normal G-Shocks, and the box was for an equally entry-level G-Shock. On December 18, 2021, I went to the Macys in Roosevelt Field with watch and receipts in-hand to see if anything could be done with acquiring the box from the Herald Square store. I was told by Joe in the Roosevelt Field Macys that most likely it was thrown out by the fashion watch departments it was a box, or someone returned the watch, and kept the box with the various paperwork. If the latter is the case, then why would someone at Macys take back a watch without full accoutrement? It is a shame, because the watch itself is absolutely stunning; its solid Titanium with a DLC bezel, and it links right up to my Pixel 6. Thankfully, the watchs back plate serial # matches what came up on the MR-G Connected app - the G-Shock App for MR-G watches that verifies the watchs ID, but for a $2,600 watch, Id like all the accessories and case candy. If this was a $2,600 Tag Heuer, Longines, Montblanc, or any fine watch, would the display box and paperwork be discarded? I think not.I have been trying to contact Macys via their email service, live chat, and phone, to no avail. It seems nobody is willing to deal with an upset customer this time of year that want to buy a beautiful gift for himself. But they are at once very happy to unload a nice watch, and in the process make you embarrassed if you blindly pick the ONE watch that is on deep discount. Macys Herald Square - and corporates - poor customer service and handling of this, has forced me to have to talk to the Manufacturer (Casio) to see if they can send a box and full paperwork for this watch as a courtesy to help clean up Macys mess.If this is how Macys Herald Square permits workers to operate, by throwing out the presentation boxes that come with high-end G-Shocks because they take up space, or it costs too much to train these people beyond sell sell sell!, then perhaps brands that have a distinct low-end and high-end need to be divided up. G-Shocks are commonly associated with the $50 to $500 market of sports and lifestyle watches, but there are quite a few that go from $800 to $1900 (MT-G line, which I have seen at several Macys); and from $2600 to $7400 (MR-G line, which I found at this Macys) that can compete with some of the best. Were there not a SUBSTANTIAL discount on this watch when all was said and done, this watch would have been returned the next day, even though it would have taken me an hour to get from where I live to Herald Square, and for all I know, theyd try again to flip it on someone who knows what an MR-G watch is, and would be starry-eyed at the discount... only to find an incomplete watch.
Super busy and large Macys, it’s normal for places like this in the middle of NYC 😁Lil pricey if you wana compare to other locations and I think it’s normal 🙂 welcome to NYC. 😎I am surprised that this place wasnt run down like everything else in the Times Square. Whole building maintained well.
The store is large. Kids clothes on the 7th . There is an It’s Sugar Store in the back middle of the 1st floor- behind the Starbucks which has some interesting Sweet’s. 🍭Love this macys. It never disappoints. The selection of brands and never ending sales always make this macys my go to department store.
The department store to end all department stores, one of (used to be) the biggest in the world. Lots of designer brands along with more accessible ones scattered throughout. Bathrooms and departments scattered across different floors, you definitely needs to check out the map. Online pickup had signs that were pretty easy to spot. Customer service was curt but not impolite.
Very large and has ample collections and offerings of different kinds. Staff is incredibly helpful but very difficult to find. None of the price check scanners etc work. Otherwise displays and layouts are very well done and organized. Options for eateries are available within too!
From Clothing to cologne, furniture to fashion, Macys has it all. Growing up Macys always had a reputation as one of those expensive department stores, but as Ive grown up Ive come to know that Macys sells QUALITY goods, and like most things in life, you get what you pay for. That statement alone could justify shopping at Macys, but its so much more of a store than just that. The sales associates all know their departments and their products, so they can answer your questions, and point you in the right direction. And, if you have a problem with a purchase, of find an item doesnt fit, or no longer fancy, their return policy is quick, fair and efficient. Lastly, they have the best and most frequent sales! I have become a regular customer, in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and have never had a bad experience with a purchase or employee. 5 well deserved Stars.
I like Macys and know this location has significant importance. However, walking the cosmetics/perfume floor was like walking through an attack zone. There was such a cacophony of smells and all-black, cutting-edge dressed folks here that I did not just abhor walking through but also dreaded having to retreat through the area later. The rest of the store has unique features that may or may not resonate with customers.*Get your duct tape and phone books and tape up before walking the main floor.
I just stepped out from my beloved store Macys Herald Square and my shopping experience was AWFUL for the last associate I dealt with in the women shoe department Aerosoles section (register location). That dark skin woman with blonde dyed hair was NASTY! She mentioned too many years experience, I told her she had poor customer service skills. I tried to understand her feelings by validating and saying you are tired, I understand, she went off in a worst rude tone. Cleaning young gentleman so close hearing everything, minutes before closing, SHE WAS WORST! I did not got upset, I just smiled under my mask fully astonished! I noticed that the young gentlemans body language was pretty welcoming, to me, translated into youre right, I can be wrong, but his expression reassured my feelings. I am customer service in a huge retail business and my position is challenging, I would never treat a customer like that even if the store is already closed and the customer is in front of me. I would rephrase for the customer to understand we need to hurry up, scenario that did not apply to me, I had my shoes and ready to check out. In her NASTY tone she yelled its a final sale!, still smiling in surprise I replied respectfully I know and kept smiling to myself, she added she had to say that, I agreed mentioning I knew (I read the label, reduced price and my size!). At the end she wished me safe travels home in less nasty way. Let me tell you, Management, I dont care if this woman has 60 years working for Macys (7 years I guess she mentioned), the associate is nasty and cannot forget what Macys protocols are: Great Customer Service To Exceed Customers Expectations! That is what retail industry expects from we all, employees, to meet our metrics. Name tag not displayed, but here you you have a pic of my receipt. Please address my horrible experience accordingly while checking out for my third pair of shoes, the other two female associates I dealt with were awesome, the nasty one ruined my shopping experience!
Macys is a reliable store both online and in-store. I was at the Flagship one on 7th Avenue in NYC last week. It opens at 11 AM nowadays, but it is worth waiting for, being well-organized and a pleasant environment in which to shop. I enjoyed being there, as I always have, and I found the handbag I needed. They have a comfortable McDonalds, too.
Im a native New Yorker. Out of the hundreds of store within my reach, I come to Macys first before looking anywhere else.If you need to buy apparel or household items, check Macys first in the flagship store. Best of all there is always a sale going on. I am never disappointed with their prices.
This place is huge, a shopping 🛍 mall in its self. Takes up a whole NYC block, eye 👀 grabbing window displays. Once inside more delightful displays. Macys 🌟 is at least 8 stories high 🏬 with many entrance/exits, so getting to the departments you seek is an experience because youll stop to see other unexpected attractive items buying 😉 your attention. Seems all the dept. employees really know about the merchandise you wanting to purchase, also has knowledge of all floors layout & able direct you ... & Im always asking. I only complain because I have to return & exchange a size or color
One-Stop shop for all shopping needs in the heart of Manhattan, but otherwise, fittings rooms are all closed mostly on all floors. After spending half an hour looking for a fitting room, we found one. The fitting room was open but allowed only six clothing items per customer which I had never heard of as Macys Policy. Apart from that, the staff in the fitting room was rude and doing their job poorly. They were just not polite to talk to customers. They are mainly not helpful or guide you when you ask questions. One of the staff said to me today, “if fitting rooms are closed, then take it to Macys for their policy; I am just doing my job!” this is just appalling that the staff is not helpful to the customer who is bringing business. Isnt it their job to at least understand customers concerns and try to resolve issues( at least pretend to!)Usually, I do shop online for this exact reason where its hard to find staff, ask questions, correct size items of clothing, pricing, and deals but compare to online (where you find everything you need)If you can shop online, do it online otherwise, visiting this location is a pain and a waste of time.
I had good experience coming to Macys before. There were great discounts on some decent brands items. This te when I cam in May 2022, half shelves were empty, stock seemed to be really outdated, there was not much to look at. My assumption was that store is more focused on the online store at the moment.
Always liked Macys, staff are always helpful, well mostly. Will mention John in the Ralph Lauren outlet in Macys store. Very attentive & could not help me enough. Bought 2 shirts saving me many £s compared to buying in England. Will always visit this store when on a visit to New York.
Returns must be made in the same department the item was purchased. The personnel dont often know how to give directions to find the different departments. When I asked to speak to a manager, she only showed up after 20 minutes. Two cashiers asked me to go to a different place to make the return when in fact I was on the correct floor.
Nice big store, although not as many options as there used to be (I for instance, could not find a large duffle bag, which I really needed). Also - this is such a magnet for international shoppers, but sadly the only discounts which are offered are through their own credit card, which is not available for non Americans, meaning there are no discounts to tourists. Too bad
Macys department store has something for everybody on your list and every room in your home. The mens sections have drastically improved over the past several years and the prices remain reasonable for the higher end products. There now dedicated sections for those interested in purchasing the latest technology products from Apple and many other brands. Those looking to purchase New York memorabilia are in luck as they have shirts, charms and more throughout the store. They even have an area where they personalize apparel from New Yorks sport teams.Covid Update: All employees are wearing masks and they kindly ask that shoppers do the same to help reduce infection rates.
I was visiting last week. I happened to see on the television that Macys was having a bouquet of beautiful flowers displayed throughout the store. So I was in Manhattan and stopped by and it was a beautiful sight to see. Highly recommend you go to Macys in Manhattan, New York before the flowers are removed.
We came for the flower Show. We are from Minnesota where an entire dedicated floor where they did santaland during the holidays was used for the flower Show. We were expecting something similar to that. The flowers were pretty at Macys NY, but it felt like a perfume ad and distracted from the flowers. Maybe if it would have been a true flower display away from the retail area and towards the exit had a few displays of perfume with flowers I would not have been a little disappointed. Minneapolis did such a great job, it was hard not to compare to that.
The customer service in the Macy Backstage floor left much to be desired. Specifically, the lady in the dressing room was less than helpful. I had TONS of items to try on, and I made a substantial purchase. When informed her that my unwanted items (almost too many to carry) were in the dressing room, she instructed me ti bring them to her. Keep in mind that I had hung everything up. Well, call me passive aggressive, but my next trip into the dressing room did not involved me politely telling her that my unwanted items were still in the room. Before you judge me, know that I did ask her where I could get a cart, she dismissed me saying well if there were none at the front, they must be out. All the while, she had an empty on which EASILY could have been offered to me.
Beautiful holiday displays as usual. The staff and main entrance greeter was very accommodating. Even at 6:30 am on Black Friday. They even pointed out all the moving displays in the store. A squirrel and an owl.Update: I happened upon the Apple store within Macy’s on the main floor. In the middle of the cosmetics. I approached the woman working there thinking that she was knowledgeable about the Apple products. Not!! She was lackluster and annoyed that I asked a question. I was looking for an iPad and she told me that they didn’t have any. Lie!! It was on the far end. Just a nasty attitude. I had a horrible experience. I rather stand in line with the crowd at an Apple Store. I will never go back there again. Now I know why I was the only one shopping there.
Love Macys 34th StreetMacy, their products are very fashionable as well as economical. Always making special trips from Long Island just to shop here. I can easily spend hours at this store. Who doesnt love a good sale! Grateful for the helpful staff. Store is clean (even the restrooms) and well- stocked. Worth the trip to Manhattan. I went there yesterday to shop and to and I was pleasantly surprised at how much of a selection of great things they have now. HUGE store with a a phenomenal variety of EVERYTHING! You can easily spend hours here shopping. I believe it has 7-8 floors!! I went in one entrance and ended up on a whole different block! I really liked the antique escalator! It ran so well too! Very smooth! They really did something much better. Im gonna stop shopping online and start coming here because theyve really improved on selection, price and also they have great customer service. So I would like to thank whoever made these great changes to macys herald Square and compliment you people on a job well done!
The number of staff has significantly reduced so looking for ppl to show us jewelry and watches was challenging. Two ladies and a gentleman was really nice in the watch section. The perfume section ppl were really nice!!! Had a good time and got what I wanted! Really happy- hopefully they increase their staff soon :)
My favorite store in the entire world!!!! And fyi this is the biggest store in the world. Macys does the best shows, from the 4th of July fireworks, to flower shows, to the north pole, e.t.c. and ive been blessed to experience all. Love the amazing deals here. Im a platinum member, so if that doesnt say enough...I dont know what does. You can find clothes, shoes, perfumes/ colognes , jewelry , e.t.c for all occasions. Theres a Starbucks in here and other places to eat and drink. And many photo taking places. Do make yourself here, I highly recommend it here.
Not that my opinion would matter, however I have placed an order online with this company twice only to have my order cancelled even after customer service gave me two dates in which I would be receiving my order. I have had reservations on ordering from them and now I see why. And customer service for this third time yup no help. Very dissatisfied and no I will not try ordering anything else from them online. Rude customer service and to constantly have my order cancelled definitely will not return. Good luck to whomever orders from them, I do not recommend it.
I hate the shopping experience here. The signs are unhelpful and incomplete, often leading me to go back and forth, up and down, trying to find things. Despite its vast size, much of the online catalog isnt available here. And when it is, it is impossible to find it. The store directory is confusing. There ought to be an electronic lookup that tells you exactly where to go for any item. I eventually gave up and bought what I needed elsewhere.
Some of the sales staff in the perfume section is completely disinterested in helping you or answering any questions. They talk to you like they are doing a favor. I walked in wanting to buying a Dior perfume and walked out empty handed vowing never to come back here for perfumes.
Macys on 34th Street in Manhattan is one of the last of the upscale department stores left in Manhattan. The reopening of the store after being closed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic was a sign for many New Yorkers that the city was on its way back.Macys annual Flower Show closed last week. Its always a great place to see flowers -if you are in New York when the show i son, you should definitely go there. Visiting the store itself is something everyone should do at least once, even if you have no intention of buying anything.
Turn the heating down, was roasting in there. Some bargains in womens clothing, nothing for men. Some parts of the store were a right mess and needed tidying up. Clothes on the floor and nothing sorted in order. Wasnt what I was expecting.Staff friendly and polite but could do with a uniform or way of identifying them.
I absolutely adore this Macy’s that dwells in the heart of NYC. Starting with the architecture and design. Each season, Macy’s windows are adorned with murals that are encompassed with morals, color , and glamour. Moreover, it is extremely convenient. Say I’d like to purchase an item in the Gucci and in the Chanel. The usual occasion would require me to make separate trips. However, the Macy’s is filled with dozens of well known brands and labels. They have shoes, cosmetics, clothing. All-in-one! Additionally, they have a Starbucks in the store—what is more perfect than hibiscus tea while shopping? I would recommend the benefit brow bar- they do a great job at shaping, waxing, and tweezing your brow! Hope you enjoy your visit to Macy’s as much as I always do!
I LOVE ❤ the selections of clothing and the store is set up in a way that is not difficult to navigate. WHATEVER YOU DO...DONT end up on 8th ave or sit in the pedestrian seating area nextdoor...you will be hassled and assaulted by homeless..mental illed & druggies. Sometimes those type of ppl also wander inside the Macys as well. They need to tackle that issue because I rarely go to shop here because of that issue. 🙄
I was at Macys midtown today just browsing at bedroom sets, nothing definite yet just getting a ballpark feel for what I want. The best part was meeting Cindy in the rugs dept. we had a great chat about rugs, people and the economy she even liked my wishlist of beds. Nice person, Macys is still cool. edit was in Macys today looking for towels, got decent ones from Charter Club
Macy’s is a fantastic store, and I like to visit whenever I’m in New York. It’s particularly great because of it’s location and the variety of things for sale, which are often cheaper than the equivalent in the UK. The only disappointing thing is that the offer emails can be a bit misleading, because they say you can have 25% off, but it’s buried in the small print that you’d need a Macy’s card for that! However, I’d definitely suggest Macy’s to anyone coming to New York!
Not been here for a few years but a little disappointing..the upstairs looks a little tired and the toilets not nice..we see a syringe on the floor behind the toilet..the queue for the instore starbucks was LONG..the staff in the shoe section couldnt be anymore helpful. Loved seeing some of the original escalators they are so cool.
I ordered a pyjama on Macy’s website last Monday. It’s already day 11 today and it still said the package is on the way to UPS. I emailed customer service for many times and every time different persons keep saying the same answers to ask me to wait and one of them even lied to me saying that the package has been shipped to UPS last Saturday. Until I called UPS and found out that they didnt receive the package yet. It made me so tired going and forth. I feel very disappointed and I just want a refund, of course, the client representative just replied the same answer using a template. They are not really helping at all and just told you to wait. It’s my first time to shop on Macy’s website and it will be my last. I suggest you dont shop from Macy’s, cos you will never receive your package.
On Macys one below, I love getting my hair washed & blow dried at oneblowdrybar at Macy’s Herald Square! The blow dry bar customer service at oneblowdrybar is amazing worthy. just wish Macy’s Customer Service was that ImpressiveHorrible customer service at Macy’s! Horrible long lines to use their restroom after eating in there store! Homestore should had remain in the Macy’s cellar!
I havent visited HS in over five years and the post construction store is stunning, glamorous and amazing. The shoe dept an entire half block, the active floor moved from the basement to 4 is awesome. Every brand you covet is here, Gucci and more. Spend a couple of hours it will be worth it.
If I could give this store less than 1 star I would. Macys has really gone down hill from even a couple years ago. Also store hours are very limited and when went on a weeknight at 8:30 store is closing and waited a long time to checkout, plus selection is not that good.
Just love all the sale , you cant go wrong with the 25, 30 , 50 60% and star money , walked out paying very little for the items I purchased . In todays economy, you have to learn how to shop , and youll get that at Macys. I recommend you visit Macys on 34th street...
Racist and very rude staff at Coach department. The lady that sold me the bag today didn’t include the discount even though Coach was -30% off today. She was upset that I even asked her to see that bag. She also commented on my bag - saying it was ugly. That lady shouldn’t work there at all. Rude rude rude
The store is great... Something for everyone and for your whole house. Right from clothes and perfume to dinner ware and diamonds.... The spring flower show is going on right now and is lovely to be there. It was very festive and the show has many visitors from all over the world just to see the flowers at Macys.
Terrible staff., especially the jackass that works in the Hugo boss part. He barely looked up to speak to me, and when he did his eyes rolled so far in the. Ask of his head I didn’t think they were coming back. His poor attitude was the reason that I purchased the garment I tried on. I wore it once and then returned it. Making sure that the woman knows the only reason I returned it is because the jackass that sold it to me doesn’t deserve my business.
I was able to get everything I needed fairly quickly. The staff was very nice and while downstairs was crowded, the upper floors were very light on people.I was able to get two high quality suit jackets by Ellie Tahari for only $120!! When Macys has a sale or clearance, its the best 😁
Con: I went to the mens floor with my mom on Saturday between 4:30-5:30. There was a white lady there at the register so nasty and rude to the customer before us as he was just trying to understand what she was saying (he didn’t speak English). Instead of helping she began to get frustrated and irritated with him. She called next (which was us) and my mom declined to be serviced by her and she got nasty. Listen if you hate your job stay home. Don’t be rude and nasty to people especially with older people. I HATED her and I’ll never forget her face and how she made that man and my mom feel. She needs to be FIRED. If you’re going to be mean, rude, nasty, and discriminate against foreigners STAY HOME. Karma never forgets how you treat others.PRO: THE BEST PART OF THIS STORY. My mom waited for the nicer lady named Collette. She was so sweet. She told my mom she’ll be with her in a second in a nice manner while she helped the other guest. She greeted my mom and was patient with her. She a great smile and a great positive attitude even though my mom was still frustrated. She patiently allowed my mom to make her exchange and then purchase in a smooth transaction. Honestly this is the BEST CUSTOMER service I’ve witnessed my mom get. She chatted with my mom in a small talk and when she gave her the receipt she explained her rewards to her. She was just really sweet. she even deloubled the bags for my mom so they wouldn’t break on her. She did all this with a smile and pleasant. Collette, I wish there were more people like you and I appreciate you kindness to my mom who’s an elder. Promote her give her a raise, at minimum the recognition that she much deserves. Thanks so much !!! (I hope I spelled ur name right) you’re the best and I hope you receive blessings on blessings. ❤️
We go to see Macy’s windows decor every year for the holidays it’s just an amazing experience but this year it seems to have fallen short of my expectations. The decoration or the theme was subpar and it seems to be missing enthusiasm. Usually we spend hours by the windows mesmerized by it, this time we were in and out within few minutes. There is always next year.
MUST SEE DURING THE HOLIDAYS! The decorations are beautiful and the store is a-buzz with life. The outside windows are well planned out and very creative. It may be crowded but take time to walk around history. You must see the old wood escalators that are history themselves - the top two floors still have wooden treads.
Something for ANYONE! Some of the sales people selling perfume are very obnoxious or pushy. They have a fun big piano here by the food court area. Finding the washroom in here is very hard! The men’s and women’s are in separate areas which doesn’t make the most sense. Other than that very clean store for being so large!
Try though it did, the ‘Rona stopped nothing with this economic powerhouse. Still people from near and far flock to this department store, not having yet discovered e-commerce. I suppose that the salesmen in the lobby spraying samples of perfume into the air render inert any trifling virus which may waft in.
Today this afternoon I went to pay off my credit card at the coach counter. All three ladies who worked there were standing together gossiping, I stood there for 10 min waiting for them to finish. I made eye contact with two but neither moved to help me until I guess they finished talking one came over and rudely asked me what I wanted. I told her I needed to pay off my card and she informed me I can’t make a payment at the counter and said I need to go somewhere else to pay. I asked her where should I go to pay she just told me any other counter which was weird. I never encountered a counter who cant help pay off my macys card. I went to kate spade and the employee there was polite and kind enough to help me.

Really beautiful store! I went there during the Christmas holidays. The decorations and the light fixtures were gorgeous.A lot of people were there but the store is so spacious that you don’t really mind.It has a wide selection of different things: clothes, perfumes, accessories, bedding, etc. It’s definitely worth a visit whether you plan to purchase something or simply go for a tour.
If I could choose 0, I would give 0! The Chinese woman in Louis Vuitton was very rude and impolite! I was looking for a handbag , I didn’t like the color and asked her to show me another color, she was very impatient and said very loudly “ I thought you like this! “ that was a very bad experience! Louis Vuitton is a famous and beautiful brand , this time ruined my feelings! She should be kicked out!!!
Disgraceful service, bought a pair of sunglasses in macys nyc, but when paying for them told not in the store, I told them I was flying to vegas the next day, they said no problem you can pick them up at a store in vegas, thought a great service, said I need to have them on specific days, gave them the 2 days I would be there and they guaranteed to me they would be ready for me paid for them at nyc store, but surprise surprise no glasses ready for me in vegas, store manager in vegas said they do this all the time to international customers, I have contacted macys now over 6 times, to get a refund as no goods recieved, numerous excuses and delay tactics from rude staff, and still no refund, so disappointed as shopped many times but this is Disgraceful
A department store that has everything you need from cosmetics, formal wear, sports wear, casual wear, furniture and appliances. This shop has 10 floors and also has restaurants inside u can take a break while u shopping and grab a bite. Friendly staff and if you are a tourist they offer discounts you will need to produce your passport to qualify for that.
A lot of expensive brands just like Harrods at London but at the nice discount price comparing to Europe. It’s very busy and it’s a huge store for everyone (kid, male and female). They got seasonal decorations as well and sell decorations at upper floors. If you want to wrap some of the items you then there is wrapping store as well. They got restaurants (eating areas) as well even though I didn’t visit it they have indicate it well (including bathroom). At certain moment (escalator) it becomes wooden design and I find it very unique experience as it’s so different from regular one.Overall it’s well sorted (by designs) and sections (one side are women and other side are men and so on).
I grew up in New York so Ive been going to Macys for many many many years, like probably since the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. However, Id like to write about todays experience because I had someone help me who was really great. I walked in on the 34th Street entrance and a woman named Zoe in the Concierge Department assisted me in finding the perfect gift for my stepmom. She not only directed me to the department best suited for my needs, but also physically escorted me there due to my confusion in finding it because things have been moved around since the last time I visited. She also recommended a few items on the way, and it was all so incredibly helpful. So if this review helps management recognize good customer service, then cheers, please give this lady a raise. 👊🏻👊🏻
An amazing store who sells absolutely everything you can think of! The Christmas decor is stunning and staff seemed helpful enough. If your in New York it’s a must visit, wear comfortable shoes as the story is soooo huge!I would recommend a visit and will visit again myself.
This store occupies entire block on herald square, I guess this is the world’s largest department store. one will certainly lost in here while shopping and can spend entire day here, great verities of all the items, you will find all the brands here. Good discounts if you know how and when to shop, there is 10% travelers discount all the time. Some staff is rude and some are very helpful. Bathrooms are problem and no drinking water fountains. Nice seating outside and amazing creative displays and indoor theme decorations. I visit the store more often and I like shopping here.
Wow! Brilliant service, the most amazingly helpful staff. What a personal experience they all made this visit... the choice is incredible beyond belief! A definite must visit ... I visited last time 7 years ago .. wasnt going to visit again but crikey Macys have this totally on point now!!!!

2022-04-05This is my main Macys store to visit before going anywhere else. This store is where I know I can find anything from makeup to undergarments to home decor. Always top quality in their products, the staff is friendly and helpful if needed. They also allow you to roam around the store before purchasing anything. This store has a food court. I love the ambiance; always fun and inspiring windows to look at for all seasons. Depending on the times you visit, the main floor is a bit crowded, and I love when the store showcase FIT students work (see pictures). The store is clean, neat, and very organized, and I recommend it to any department store customer.

2022-06-26One of the must sees of NY. This place is nostalgia on steroids and my six year old loves this place. Highly recommend the ninth floor for great deals on furniture. Toys and the wonderful displays are on the eighth floor. Plus size section on the seventh is a lot of fun, as are the restaurants. My son could spend the day here easily!Minus one star for all the escalators out of operation.

2021-12-27I like the old time feel of this store. Youll see what I mean if you ride the escalators to any floor. There are still wooden elements to these electric stairways. Im sure they have been updated but you might get a sense of what it was like about 100 years ago to ride these. The store itself is always decorated fully for the Christmas season. The front window displays are always picture worthy, so bring your camera..or a cell phone. Youll get a beautiful view of the Empire State Building right outside the store as well. If you go in looking for the restroom, youll be better off asking a cleark for directions. You can get lost in here easily. This store is a must see if youre visiting around the holidays.

2022-01-08One of the most beautiful shops to visit in all of Manhattan. This is located near Penn Station, making it a prime location and easy to travel to.I went there during Christmas and the lighting and decor was amazing to watch. The interior of the shop is also beautiful although their clothes are quite expensive hence I opted not to purchase anything.

2021-12-16Super dope store. The customer service is great. Everything you need is right there. This store really brings the joy and fun of Christmas. I think this is by far one of the best Macy’s in New York City. Whenever I visit it here, I feel super happy with the Christmas spirit. Trains are nearby and this store is super easy to get to.

2022-06-19London, Paris, New York - each of this world metropolis has its own famous department stores, and they have many branches all over the countries, but only one is the main from which it all began.Thats the case with this Macys at Herald square on 34th St, just a block from the iconic Empire State bldg.We didnt come to shop, just entered and roamed this huge edifice occupying the entire block. You can find everything you might think of, however cannot comment the prices - I presume theyre higher than elsewhere. Therefore, it was a pure touristy visit for us after visiting the Empire.

2022-02-04Macy’s is THE hub of Herald Square. With so many departments and floors, you are guaranteed to find something to take home- even if you promise yourself that you’re just browsing the store.Although you can easily shop online, there’s nothing like actually touching the fabric of that great jacket, trying on those super cute boots, or having that great fragrance spritzed on you so you can smell extra fancy and high class while shopping for your children or your man. (FYI- the Men’s department is phenomenal!).Check online beforehand because the prices are unbeatable when shopping during a sale at Macy’s!As a native New Yorker, I make it a mission to bring my mom to Macy’s every year to view the Holiday window displays. Each year, there is a new theme- and they are as beautifully creative as mesmerizing- to both children and adults. If you’re visiting NYC, definitely stop by West 34th St, and swing by Macy’s. Especially during the Holiday season! They actually decorate the windows and interior for different seasons and occasions, so depending on when you visit, you’ll get a one-of-a-kind view of the store.Even if you don’t buy anything, there are cafés upstairs- tons of items to inspire- and the old wooden escalators that are definitely reminiscent of Macy’s younger days (my mom calls them the “Titanic Stairs.” 😂 🚢). They are eerily fascinating- and feel like you’re on a museum ride! ✨There is outdoor seating available. And lastly, there are restrooms throughout the store open to the public. Because when you’re shopping in NYC, these are ALWAYS important to locate. 😉

2022-02-08One of the last grand department stores in United States. Built over 120 years ago this store has been a prime shopping opportunity and history lesson wrapped into one 10.5 story building. As you transverse each level there are hundreds of brands, neat photo opportunities and quick bites to partake in. I Suggest riding the wooden escalators as long as you arent wearing heels. The gaps in the runs are wide. Also check out the BIG piano on the ground floor in its own enclosed room. A visit to Macys is a fun day activity for those looking to catch a bit of living New York history.

2021-12-30This is store is on the 34th Street of NYC and is the worlds largest store and is approximately 5 stories. You can get everything from a clothing and a accessory perspective. They have an awesome collection of winter coats and jackets and the staff is super helpful as well.
