Daves review is rather negative. I dont drive a BMW, but a 10 year old minivan. I found the shop to be a nice place where we were treated fairly. Good people, good selection of bikes. Good advice. Pay less by going elsewhere? Perhaps. Support a small local business. Why not?
Great bike shop with a very friendly and passionate staff. Carry a variety of quality bikes from mountain, to beach bikes to tandems and road bikes. Hold a used bikes sale every Saturday where you can find brand name bikes such as Jamis, Trek and Cannondale rebuilt by the shop and sold at a very reasonable price. Also sell second hand part at a reasonable rates. Great place!
Great service, reasonable prices. Have been coming here for bike service for years, and have never felt ripped off on service. Ive always gotten reasonable advice, and anything I had a problem with (like a tail light that broke after a week) has always been cheerfully replaced or fixed. I bought a new road bike recently and got good advice, several opportunities for test rides, and after a lot of looking around at all the shops in driving distance, found my ideal bike at Mad Dog for a great price. Also, they sell reconditioned used bikes on Saturdays in the spring and summer, if you dont want to pop for a new bike but want something better than a Wal-Mart special. Sorry, I have no vacation home, no beemer (and maybe Im missing the snotty attitude of other reviewers) but Im a satisfied repeat customer. Glad to have Mad Dog in my community!

Just stopped by Mad Dog Bicycles to thank them for the great job they did adding a few custom touches to the Jamis Beatnik I bought from Matt. He added faux wood aero rims and a racing saddle. Price was right, work was first rate, and I love traversing the city on my new bike. Ive also purchased a Jamis Commuter 4 which my wife loves, and two beach cruisers at Mad Dog. Even though they have primo racing bikes too, you never get talked down to at Mad Dog, Ive always gotten the best bike for what I need without getting oversold. We have been more than satisfied with all four purchases over the years. Best bike shop for the broadest range of customers from kids to club riders.

2022-07-09An excellent bike shop for anyone in the Capital Region. I called shortly after they opened and was answered in seconds. The guys here are knowledgeable about their products and excited to share that information with their customers! They were able to match me with a bike that was slightly cheaper and more suited to my needs than the one I initially was interested in, making my first venture into cycling a pleasurable, easy experience.

2021-09-24Really miss this place . Im in Tampa bike shop recommend go tubeless. The tires blew up like a bottle bomb. Then two days ago Im in Nashville buy two new tires and installation,220 dollars. Go to put them on and they are flat looks like damaged valve stem and no valve stem nuts that hold them in place.

2021-09-24Excellent reviews, unfortunately they do not put electric bikes together for a fee. The bike I ordered is 85% put together. It is a 1 speed bike that has a how to YouTube video to go by. Should be pretty simple.I was disappointed because this place has such great reviews🌸. Electric bikes are so popular now. This was not a repair just a put together.Guess I will have to use Freewheel Bike Shop on Railroad Avenue. They are the only shop I found to put together my E-Bike.They will gladly do it.

2018-09-19I got a couple of really nice bikes from a friend (thanks Ed!) for the little girls. one of them had a little problem from not being ridden for some time. I went to Mad Dog Bikes to buy the special tools I needed to try and fix it. Matt told me to just bring the wheel in and he would loosen the lock nut so I wouldnt have to buy the tools. he gave me a little free advice. he did mention if his advice didnt work, Id have to replace the hub and gear cluster because they dont make that particular free hub anymore. ($75 to $80 - still totally worth it, its a great bike!) Matt wishes me luck and sent me on my way. I took apart the axle and bearings and pulled off the free hub. I followed his suggestions, and got everything working beautifully.after putting the parts back together, I took both bikes back to the shop to get them tuned and adjusted.100 bucks to make both bikes look and work like brand new was money extremely well spent, not to mention the free advice that they happily gave that cost them (and saved me!) a 75 dollar repair.If you need a bike, or have one that needs repair, this shop is well worth the visit!

2018-08-30I love these guys. Theyre fun to chat with and are always ready to help. They carry very nice products at reasonable prices. Sometimes I go in just to take a look at their bikes and day dream. The used bikes they sell on saturdays are usually a bit on the older side but still very cool. Great place for a growing kid to select their next bike. I highly recommend going here. :)

2018-07-27Matt and his staff are great. They are very knowledgeable, super friendly and always can provide you with good advise. If you have an old Schwinn bike they are the guys to get it back to original riding condition. Jeff B.

2018-05-15Unbelievable customer service! Knew exactly which bike to recommend, gave great instructions, easy directions for a wonderful ride and had all of the equipment I needed: water, backpack, helmet and bike! Great price too and very accommodating. Would highly recommend.
