I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for a bite to eat! Tasty, fresh food and friendly staff! I’ll definitely be going again soon! SO yummy!!!! Good for a quick bite, date night, bring the kiddos for a tacos or just picking up some food on your way home! Cash and card accepted!
I had to share my review of this lovely taco place bc of how they handled my order. I made a complex order bc i have eating restrictions which i always feel terrible about. But they were kind and agreed to my substitutions. Unfortunately my order came out covered in cheese and sour cream which i can’t eat and specifically asked not the include. I waited a while to find the main guy but when he realized he got my order corrected and out ASAP and comped my order which was very kind. So i am here writing this review as thanks 🙏 also i have to say they have the KINDEST customers. I had a lovely conversation with strangers which i never ever do. And when one customer realized j had been looking for the manager for a while he took it upon himself to help find someone for me. Beautiful little slice of humanity right here and the food is delicious 🥰
Yum, yum!! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this exceeded expectations! We got a pulled pork burrito, three tacos and a fully loaded nachos all for $29, and we were not hungry after! Great price for the quality and quantity. Parking is easy and so is the take out. Seating in the deck looks fun but it was raining hard when we were there. Yeah, I’ll be back!
I ordered the chorizo burrito and it was delicious. I love how it was grilled and did not fall apart while I was eating it. I also got the chips and guacamole which was tasty and fresh. My food came out within a few minutes of my order as well. I look forward to trying more food from here in the future.
MUST TRY ! Everything was delicious! I’m from Brooklyn and surrounded by tacos. I eat tacos all the time and I can honestly say THESE ARE SOME OF THE BEST TACOS I HAVE EVER HAD! Everything was fresh and delicious! I had the beef tacos one regular one Gordita style and they were both good ! Very juicy and flavorful! My husband had the vegan impossible tacos and he LOVED them!
Delicious food. Affordable menu. Fair and optimal prices.Staff spent majority of the time during our visit behind the bar talking to their friends. Forgot to order our chips and salsa and then recharged us $3.00 for it after our meal already came. Much less concerned with their customers then their friends.
First visit - loved it. Small, but comfortable and they are managing indoor and outdoor dining currently. Order at the bar, but everything is brought to your table. Limited menu, but what they do, they do very well. Seriously, the best tacos I have had. Good selection of sauces. Nice selection of craft beers. Family friendly. Reasonable prices and friendly staff.
Hands down the best tacos! My son wont eat traditional tacos with sour cream ever but one trip here and he ate ALL of his brothers tacos with sour cream and wanted to go back for another round. My personal favorites are the honey lime and the peanut chicken (Thai one). They are wonderful, unexpected and hit the spot every time. Not horribly pricey (I guess maybe for tacos but not for Caz food in general) at 3 tacos for 11.
My boyfriend and I wanted to try a new place for takeout and we will never be going here again. His burrito was alright but nothing special and I ordered the nachos which were so bad that I couldnt even eat half of them before throwing them in the garbage. They tasted like I had already thrown them up after a night of drinking. I didnt think it was possible to mess up nachos that bad.
The guy that took our order was nice. I wasnt thrilled with having to give gratuity at the same time as payment. We got chips and salsa which I was very excited for but the chips were all little pieces, like we got the end of the bag but the salsa was good. I got 3 tacos- 2 beef and 1 chicken. Size was ok for me. Lettuce was fresh and crisp. The meat had NO flavor and the beef was way to greasy and very mealy-YUCK. The place looks cool! Overall, I didnt like it much. The flavor just was not the there and I was disappointed.
Very good food, the salsa was very good. I had the mad burrito and I think it could do with some sort of flavoring for the rice and beans, maybe some cilantro lime or something with more taco seasoning flavor but over all it was the best Mexican Ive had this close. Also I loved the churros ❤
The food here is great and the beer selection is wide and always changing. The staff was great with bringing food out to your table. Our tacos took a little longer than I expected but they are still growing so I hope they will work to streamline the planting. The only big issue I have with the restaurant is their lack of seating and the location doesnt allow for more seating. My wife and I got lucky that a couple was getting up just as we turned around from ordering otherwise we would have had to stand. They may want to look at putting a drink rail along the wall to offer standing room when they are busy.
We tried the pork, chicken, and fish tacos. All of them were really lacking in flavor. The texture of the tortilla was a little tough. The fish taco was a nice quality piece of fried fish, but didn’t have any flavor you’d expect from a Mexican or Mexican-inspired dish. A far cry from authentic tacos.
I stopped after a gruelling 😂😅 hike at Stoney Pond State Park. I picked up some “Pineapple,Mango Pulled Pork Tacos”TO GO! The service was prompt, friendly, and the price was excellent.... THE TACOS WERE DELICIOUS!!!! (Thank you!!). Do not hesitate to try this place! You WILL L❤️VE IT!!!
HOLY BLAND! I got three beef tacos and my wife got the pulled pork burrito. Both were SO bland. Zero seasoning. I could literally have made a better taco at home for a fraction of the price With a little Taco Bell seasoning. I am still a little in disbelief how unseasoned our meals were. What a massive disappointment. The queso was really very good which is why it gets two stars. But if you want a terrible meal and good queso go to Moes and pay half the price.
Excellent tacos at a really reasonable price! ($4 ea or 3/$10, and they dont have to be the same kind.) Something for everyone, too - vegetarian options and gluten free for sure, and you could probably work out a vegan meal. Wine list is minimal ($6 or $7/glass) but lots of beers on tap ($4-9) and in cans. Id skip the chips and salsa - nothing special, and that way you might have room for an extra taco!
My spouse and I went there last night to the mad co tacos on route 20 in Nelson. we had ordered one of everything on the menu in the line of tacos and were able to taste them all. Of the best was the bean taco followed by the fish taco then the chicken taco lastly the pulled pork taco which out of all of them had the least amount of flavor. all were good Ill tasted fresh & crispy the beer-battered taco was in a soft taco shell and their sauces were very good the hot sauce was hot very spicy and the creamy jalapens very delicious as well the other two three sauces were average
Probably the best tacos Ive had in the area so far. I tried all five of their tacos. The best had to be the chicken, tender shredded chicken, tasty sauce and slaw. The next best was the veggie. A little spice was nice but there was a little too much quinoa. The cod was a little mushy inside but the flavor was pretty great. Beef seemed promising, had some nice spice to it as well but was a bit wet. I was most excited by the pork taco but least impressed. Didnt really taste much of the pineapple and mango and the pork was saltier than expected. All in all though I would definitely go back. The quesadillas and burritos I saw looked good and filling. Oh the other down side was it took me 5 tacos to feel full so tacos definitely are more an appetizer than a main dish unless you get a bunch of add sides.
I have been in NY for about two years. In two years I havent been able to find a good place to get tacos. On my way to Syracuse I found this awesome little taco place. Now walking in I didnt have high hopes, because most of the places Ive been for tacos have been not so great. But the chorizo burritos, honey lime chicken tacos, beer battered cod tacos, and chicken quesadillas are amazing! Their house salsa is really good too.
The quesadilla and tacos taste okay, but the chips and salsa and queso are awful. its literally store bought chips and Salsa, basically tasted like tostitos stuff. super disappointed for a place called mad tacos. and for how much money I spent I feel robed. definitely wont be going back. if you want actual good Mexican food/tacos go to papa gallos.
Best sevice, very attentive! I feel like they will be needing a larger venue very soon as it is very good food and excellent selection of beers. The pineapple mango pulled pork taco was very good, as was the cod taco. The chicken was lacking flavor and bland. I am sure it would be good to others who have not had west coast tacos but flavor could definitely have been added. Best fish taco I have had in CNY but not comparable to ones we have had on the west coast. Great date night spot and we will be back to enjoy some more of those pulled pork tacos!
A great addition to the Cazenovia area for lunch or a quick bite! The food was wonderful with the selection of meats, sauces, and combinations, and of course their flavor was spot on. I got the Ray Bros Burrito and the combination of pulled pork with the sauce was unreal, it was listed as spicy but personally it could have been a bit spicier. Overall a great place for quick Mexican food, and I cannot wait until they get the taps filled with beer. Also note the parking entrance is on Route 20 not on the road perpendicular to Route 20.
This hidden gem was a delight. The food was nothing but deliciousness. I love tacos, like i have a taco problem and have to have something taco related at least once a week. I love trying new places and when i heard about this place, i just had to go. We went at 630pm on a Friday. It was very busy so we ordered chips/salsa/guac to hold us over until we got our tacos because that took over an hour. But boy was it worth the wait. Everything was very flavorful and filling. The staff was very polite and apologetic about having to wait as they were so busy. I am glad they are doing so well, its nice to have a good place to eat with great prices. They also help other local businesses out like Rays Bro BBQ fown the road, using their meat. Will definitely be returning for more..also hoping they add more to their menu, like housemade queso.id never leave!
Went to Mad Tacos with a family member, we each ordered the taco special of 3 for $11. What each of us received was 3 small, soggy tacos which were about half the size of what you would expect anywhere else. Also, when I got home and looked at my receipt, I noticed I had been charged $4 per taco and not the 3/$11 special listed at the top of the menu. $24 for 6 unsatisfying mini-tacos? $2 for a 12 oz. can soda, add another 15% or more for a tip that they ask for at the point of sale. No thanks, we will never be going back.
This couldn’t happen at a better time. Buy and eat local. With the Bro’s, Shane & Adam in the kitchen and Jonny out front you won’t be disappointed. The food is creatively offered, very tasty, ample and and affordable. Homey atmosphere, great beer selection and great location. Keep up the great work, Mad Tacos!!
A perfect little restaurant, really. Tucked away in the town of Nelson, just past Cazenovia, sits this affordable, clean cut, and absolutely to die for taco shop. The seating is limited, so going during lunch hour will ultimately have you standing to eat your tacos. While this place doesn’t have a ton of menu options, the items they have are unbelievably delicious, and are sold at a fair price. I mean, 3 hearty tacos for $10? Count me in. I personally had their Chorizo burrito with the “Mad Mac” sauce (which in my opinion added the perfect amount of heat to the burrito, and I love heat). The beer selection they have on tap and in cans is not your typical Bud Light, Blue Light, Guinness draft picks. The only name I recognized up there was Modelo, and the rest seemed to be very lively microbrews. The service was kind and considerate, even coming over to our table to ask us about the food and briefly discuss the origins of their “Mad Mac” sauce (which is named after one of the owner’s very hyper son), and to thank us for coming to their restaurant. They even thanked us when we were headed out the door, and it wasn’t a scripted “thank you, come again” you’d get from a fast food joint. It was a genuine statement that showed these guys really cared about the food they are making and the service they are providing. To make a long story short, I will be returning to this restaurant time and time again. Dates, meet ups, dinner with friends, family gatherings, you name it. I’m bringing everybody I know to Mad Tacos.
Nelson is one of those villages you could blink and miss it, so keep your eyes peeled, because you DO NOT want to miss this happening little taco spot. Great food and laid back, fun vibes. About a ten minute drive from Cazenovia or Morrisville. Always looking for an excuse to stop for a taco now!

2022-05-22Great food, great atmosphere, great prices and great beer. Brought the dogs and kiddos for an early dinner, I even enjoyed some Orchard Party by Grow Brewing Co. Yum! Mad Tacos has never let us down. Weve been fans since the very beginning, even had them caterer our reception dinner.

2021-07-31Very cool spot. We found it just by chance driving by. Staff was friendly, inside has a cool vibe and has outside seating. Burrito and crunch wrap were both huge and delicious. The only problem we had was my girlfriend asked for no tomatoes (she cant stand the taste) and there was tomatoes. We didnt notice until we were driving away. We will definitely go back though. Very good food.

2022-06-25The place was a nice place inside and out. The guy behind the counter today was quick. Our first time In this area the food though was nothing special at all.My wife got the pineapple pork taco which for 5 dollars was small, close to street taco size but lacked the street taco taste. It was very bland and needed to be seasoned salt and pepper goes away. Taco sauce on top was the only flavor and it wasnt good.I got the chorizo and sour cream burrito. First off the size was decent. The burrito though was tasteless beans under cooked rice hard and the chorizo tasted as if it sat in a hotel pan on the steam table all day very dry and burnt.2 dollars for a 20oz can of soda very high priced. This will not be a place we stop at again I hope for a small business they take the advice and revisit their recipes because it needs it.

2022-04-26First time there was Sunday before adventuring parks and waterfalls nearby. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The inside is fun. The food was delicious and I can NOT wait to go back. I love how they use Impossible Meat, so I have a lot more options here than other places.Update: We now make a point to stop in once a month to get some food before our weekly Sunday adventures. Havent been disappointed at any point. Food is always delicious! The outdoor seating is pet friendly which makes it even better in my eyes.

2021-08-02Came for lunch today and was thoroughly impressed with Mad Tacos! Fresh ingredients, delicious combinations of flavour and it all comes out quickly. Great selection of craft beers and the churros were incredible. It’s exactly what this area of upstate New York needs and more people need to know about it!

2021-04-11This is a great place. Top of the list for Mexican food for the family. They also have a nice bar. The food is fantastic. There are a lot of gluten free options and a some beyond taco as well. Highly recommend this joint. Well worth the drive from Syracuse, Cortland and Morrisville. The crew is friendly and able to help with any questions. You can eat inside and outside.

2021-12-16Excellent food, everything is truly fine on the menu. Extensive draft and can list too. If youre going east or west, drop down to Route 20 just east of Cazenovia, trust me youll be happy. Went in wearing my Josh Allen hat and Bills sweatshirt, they took a little extra time on my takeout container.

2022-04-05We have driven by this place a handful of times on our way hunting. One day we just decided to stop. I wish I could give this place 10⭐ my mini dillas were fantastic and super reasonably priced. The craft beer selection is top notch. I dont even drink craft beer but I like some of the in house stuff. The GM is a super friendly and a great guy. Makes some amazing hot sauce as well. It has that small hometown feel. All the customers were very friendly even though Im dressed head to toe in camo lol. I live in Clay, NY and have every restaurant I can think of t my fingertips. I have been to Mad Taco twice this week! Havent been anywhere out by me at all. Wish I lived closer. This place is a gem and will be a mainstay for me long after hunting is over.

2021-08-27Highly recommend stopping here for some quick and delicious food! I had no idea what to expect and ordered two honey chicken tacos & a pulled pork taco and they were amazing. The flavors in the tacos were so good and they get the tortillas the perfect amount of toasty on the outside. You pick your own seat & order at the counter. Its super cute inside and the girl working was very friendly and helpful. Also tried a bite of my fiances mad crunch wrap with chorizo and it was delicious! Efficient and quick in a cute atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back!
