I have been renting from them since June of this year and so far I have nothing but praise for them. No, no one ever answer the phone in the office and that’s ok because each and every time I have left a message my message has always been returned. I also have cell phone numbers to a few of the employees. Anthony moved me into the beautiful town home that I rent now and Rebecca moved my daughter into her apartment. She signed her lease today. I can reach either of these two directly by work email or their cell phone. They always respond. They have never became frustrated with me and I am going to be honest I can be very frustrating. The property is beautiful and me as well as my daughter are very happy and grateful. If there is an issue I put in a service request and it’s taken care of. They have been nothing but beautiful to me and my family so I give them 100 stars. Go Maddalone.... yayyy!!! Thank you.
I couldn’t have asked for more! Rebecca helped me find the perfect apartment quickly and efficiently! She was absolutely wonderful & extremely helpful in this process. I haven’t rented in over 10 years and had previously only rented in large complexes. I was relieved & excited to find that Maddalone & Associates uses the same process for showing, screening & also has available the same conveniences like online payments, maintenence, etc. No chasing your “landlord” around to get something done. Thank you & God Bless :)
Having been in my apartment for a few months now, I personally can say I love it. Maddalone & Associates has been responsive to any maintenance requests I’ve had and they’ve always been friendly. I’m really satisfied with how they’ve been so far. Jessica and Lauren have consistently been available to answer my questions or help me out with any issues and it just reinforces the fact that I made a good decision moving to where I am now.
Avoid at all costs, this company is terrible. Our apartments basement flooded with a fuel-oil/water mixture from a broken fuel oil tank in the backyard. We reported the smell to Maddalone, they advised us to open the basement to air it out and crack our windows (in the winter). They hired a cleaning crew for the oil but did not report the incident to the department of health or environmental conservation until we came back and started asking about it. They opened all the windows and aired the place out before declaring the home safe to occupy. However the strong odors from the basement continued to penetrate the whole building, and it remained completely un-inhabitable due to the nauseating, headache-inducing smell for the entire last month we paid rent there.Their employees also entered our apartment without good reason and without notifying us. When we came back to collect our belongings and clean the apartment after not living there for a month, we found that someone had smoked marijuana in our kitchen and dumped partially burned bits of marijuana in our sink. This made sense though, since we had witnessed their maintenance workers smoking marijuana in the backyard before. Then they had the nerve to take $100 out of our deposit for cleaning supplies, after we thoroughly cleaned the place. Also, when we first moved in, they neglected to tell us the building was already for sale. They then showed the building to buyers (and let buyers into our apartment) repeatedly throughout the first several months of our lease, Im talking almost every week, sometimes two times a week. One of the first times it happened they didnt even notify us and walked in on my fiance sleeping in bed. Also, they were lying to National Grid by claiming we had gas heaters, when all we had were electric baseboard heaters (which were extremely expensive, and the drafty windows didnt help). This resulted in us losing over $200 of heating assistance benefits throughout the year we lived there. Luckily DSS eventually noticed the mistake.
I currently rent a unit from Maddalone and Associates in downtown Schenectady. It has an adjacent parking lot, which I was given a parking pass for and told that parking would be included as part of my rental payment each month in the designated lot.One evening three weeks ago I returned home to find that there were no available parking spots remaining (there are currently at least 17 issued parking passes for only 13 available spaces?), so I had to park on the street and was issued a parking ticket by the city.I emailed Jessica, the office manager for the Schenectady offices, explaining my situation and asking what could be done to ensure that I would be albe to park safely in the designated parking lot as I was promised when I moved in...no response.A week later, after not recieving any follow up, I sent a second email...no responseAnother week went by...no response stillI called and left a voice message on the office managers direct line...still no responseToday, now three weeks after my initial inquiry, I physically went to the Maddalone and Associates rental office in hopes of speaking directly with the office manager and see why my previous attempts to contact the office were never returned.I asked if the office manager was available, and if so could I speak with her...to which I was then told that the office manager was there however she was refusing to meet with me to discuss the issue; with no reason given other than the office manager just didnt want to.Could we try and work together to come up with a solution that would allow me to park in my designated parking lot and avoid another parking ticket on the street? Seems like a simple enough request. I wasnt looking for my own private spot with a gold name plate on it, just simply for a place to park my car at night as I was promised when I signed my lease. However, several attempts to contact the office manager regarding the situation via email and phone were ignored, as was my in person request to set up a meeting with her. From the other reviews you have read, I think it can be assumed that ignoring residents concerns and refusing to provide any type of remedy, seems to be a common trend among people who have had issues in the past with this company. If I could give one piece of advice, do not rent from Maddalone and Associates! They have some very beautiful properties, however the positives stop there. They ignore residents legitimate concerns and in my specific situation, flat out told me that they would do nothing about it and being in the middle of my lease Im pretty much trapped.I ignored the negative reviews when I signed my lease assuming that the bad ones were just another angry tenant that was evicted or something similar. However, now 5 months into my 12 month lease, I realize that all the negative reviews might not have been so far off from the truth...Hopefully this will help even one prospective renter! I have been renting for 8 years in the capital region and I have never been treated like I have by Maddalone and Associates. There is no shortage of beautiful properties in the area, so save yourself the headache and rent from ANYONE else!
Honestly wish I didnt have to leave a star at all because it defeats my purpose of this post. This company is terrible not only did they withhold my deposit (which was a hefty deposit might I add) because we turned in the keys 2 days late, we were also renting a 1 bedroom apartment and the bedroom had no window. My husband and I did not know at the time that this was in fact a code violation. They never fixed anything and the washer and dryer in the basement always flooded. Big company that loves to scam and withhold money from tenants. it has been 3 years and we never received our deposit.
Recently moved into a building in downtown Albany that just finished renovation. Although the contractors made a mistake when finishing up, maintenance from Maddalone was at my apartment and addressed it on the spot an hour after I called. This morning I received a message from Maddalone asking how my new apartment was, and if there was anything I needed. Ive never seen that kind of pro-activity from a property management company before. The other reviews do not reflect my experience at all.
Rebecca was very friendly and punctual! She made the process of finding our apartment effortless and stress free. We live our new place and have settled in nicely. Rebecca made sure to text us after the move to make sure we were happy and had an easy move. I’d recommend her to anyone!
I’m surprised to hear the negative reviews. I have leased multiple properties with Maddalone in the past few years and have always been satisfied. I have rented both high end and middle end apartments and never had any issues with maintenance requests, upkeep, etc. I was always able to communicate and get responses in a timely manner. I would continue to lease with Maddalone in the future, the bad reviews seem excessive.
They Provided no effort to help us when our mail was stolen on multiple occasions in Troy NY, the building has cameras but they dont work and they dont care to help you get necessary footage in such an event (I have documented at least several different excuses as to why). They let an entryway remain dark for months; so they dont care about you, your stuff, nor your personal safety. They only want money any way they can get it . They did not return our security deposit and called me once for the keys the day we were moving out. One was left under the doormat, the other was mailed. They only want you to call them because its not documented on paper. Dont fall for it.They havent sent mail to my forwarding address either.
I had been looking for an apartment for over a year and Maddalone is the one company I CAN TRUST! They were all super helpful and understanding of my situation and I now am in an awesome apartment. The maintenance team is always there if I run into an issue. Awesome company that I have recommend to all my friends!!
I myself had a great experience with Maddalone and associates. I was helped by one of their agents by the name of Rebecca Leverette. She made my relocation process easy. I relocated from Virginia about a month ago without a hitch. It was a pleasure working with her and she was also able to help a couple of my coworkers Find apartments.I had no issues at all.
NEVER RENT FROM THEM! I had seen the bad reviews online and chose not to believe them because we were desperate for a place to live and I lived to regret that decision. Among so many other terrible problems we had the house we lived in was roach infested from our nasty upstairs neighbors and they barely did anything about it. They let the home foreclose without telling us and kept taking our rent (for i dont know how long) and never gave us our deposit back. They do not care about maintaining the homes and care less about their tenants.Do not ignore... DO NOT rent from them!
I would STRONGLY advise anyone to stay clear from this company. I’ve been a tenant for almost 5 years and my apartment was found with illegal shared metering. My national grid bill averaged around $400 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment not knowing my heat was also being used by my upstairs neighbor- National grid did an investigation and found with the 4 units that were in the house only 2 thermostats were connected meaning when I turned on my heat- my neighbor got heat! Today they call me on the spot telling me they have a “scheduled” appointment but failed to alert any tenants and with no 24 hour notice given at all- I was unable to make the appointment due to I was at work and had no time to plan it so Jeff Morlang the company maintenance manager an unprofessional complete degenerate BROKE my bolt lock and gained access to my apartment illegally- The police were contacted because I saw their maintenance crew walking around my apartment with my security camera and of course magically my money is missing that was on my speaker exactly where all the guys were hanging out in my living room. As a tenant I shouldn’t have to worry about my apartment getting broken into by my landlord with no notice or my money being stolen in my apartment. If it wasn’t for my security camera they would’ve never have told me they gained access into my apartment and would’ve left with my apartment unsecured with a broken lock. again.
Ive lived her for 2 years and I have asked that they come and take care of the mold in my closet for a year now. The maintenance guy came and looked at it last summer (between June-July 2016), said he would take care of it, and never came back. Also, they JUST sent us a letter stating that we had a late fee of $50 from February 2016 that needs to be paid but since this is the first time weve ever heard about this late fee it has tripled and is now $150. We contacted them to tell them that they never sent us any sort of noticed about this late fee and they basically told us to suck an egg. Its extremely unprofessional to keep this late fee a secret from us for a year (for the record we were apparently only late by 4 days) and then expect us to pay triple the late fee because they messed up and didnt alert us to the problem in the first place. If we had known last year that we owed a late fee we would have paid it right away. The apartment itself is nice but the management team is pretty inattentive unfortunately.
Maddalone and Associates actually made good on many of the shortcomings and obstacles that exist with our rental due to the fact the owner they manage it for is an absentee landlord. Though the house we rent can use some serious updating I do now believe they do the best they can to manage properties with limitations set by the actual homeowners.
Im on the 3rd year of my lease pay my rent on time or even early! and when I came in I asked for the front porch to be fixed my elderly grandparents can not even walk on the porch. My screen door is falling apart and there are dead birds in my basement! I have placed many maintenance requests and I even called the property manager! and its been a 2 weeks with no call back. Very fed up with this leasing company never again!
We have been living in one of the rental properties from Maddalone and Associates for over a year now. Whenever a problem arose an answer to that problem was answered in a timely manner., and done correctly. Have no complaints with this company. If ever we needed to move, we would definitely consider renting from this company again.
First off to anyone renting from this company no matter how nice the appartment is or how good the rent may be just turn around and look at something else. I rented from from this conpany for 2 years and service started bad and ended even worse.First off when looking at the house we were told that the garbage was included, the the house had central air, and that lawn and driveway care was done by them. Two weeks in we had to call to find out when garbage was picked up because we were building up. We were told we have to pay for our own garbage pick up. Lie 1. Not a huge deal. The first winter we had our driveway plowed zero times. I had to shovel the entire season. Lie 2. Summer time we go to turn on central air but nothing happens. Go into the attic to see what may have been wrong and see there is no compressor on the unit. There was no central air. Call and say something. Nothing happened. Lie 3.First fall. Leaves get raked a total of zero times. During the 2 years there we had water leaking into the basement for the downstairs apartment and was told not to use water until it was fixed. Took days and was never told when it was fixed so went days without water and most likely didnt need to. My wife and I decide we need to leave and went to buy a house. Talked to office manager and found out that if we left in the middle of the month we could be prorated and pay less rent for the final month and in doing so we would have to have the house available for show while we were still in. So because I had a 130 pound dog and could not afford to just let people come and go while I wasnt home I told them I would pay for the whole month so it would give me time to close on my house move out and clean up. I was closing on Valentines day and had plans to be out by the 18th leaving them 2 weeks to show the apartment with us out. But me paying until March. I get a message saying they had planned a showing of the apartment on the 8th of February and to have the house ready for show. I had to call and get into argument because of the blatant disrespect trying to push me out and go against everything we agreed on a month prior. After I leafy and dropped off my keys I was told my deposit would be mailed to the house I put on file 45 days after we left. We have been out of the house for over 2 months now and I have received no check. No phone call despite numerous messages left. I havent even received the 50 dollar key deposit. This company lied to get me in and doesnt maintain what they are suppose to. Their customer service is terrible and until the day I die I will continuously tell my story to try and help anyone from having to deal with what I and, as I can see in this review page, many others had to deal with renting from this property management company.
Since renting an apartment under maddalone and associates theyve illegally entered my apartment without permission in a global health pandemic 3-5 times (Im not actually sure cause sometimes I just come home to stuff different such as outlets pipes the front of my oven being off) and sometimes I come home to people. They knocked and began to walk in while I was in a towel and hadnt answered yet I had just gotten out the shower cause I heard someone knocking. They dont even TRY to contact me. Ive also tried to discuss this with jessica rebeck and Omar at maddalone and associates and no one seems to take me seriously or care.
Though I didnt end up renting from Maddalone and cant speak for that experience, I asked for a viewing at 99 Pine, and it was great. The units were great, and Sam Thompson was very helpful and resourceful. Klarisse was our original contact person, and she was very kind and clear about the whole process. Ill definitely be keeping them in my back pocket in case Im in need of an apartment in the future.
I wish I could give less than one star! After being evicted the locks on the door were changed we were told to call and schedule a day to take everything out of the apartment. We called for weeks and even stopped at the office where we were told that everybody was busy. We finally were given a call back where I was told they threw everything out except for the furniture then was told they only threw out trash. We then was able to schedule a day and when we got there a numerous amount of our valuables were stolen and the apartment was trashed. They stole the tv, jewelry, the Xbox, radio, and clothes. I just had a baby they stole her stuff as well and even her Piggy Bank I was saving money for her in. Then when we confronted them about it and asked who was in the apartment they told us the maintenance crew was there but nobody touched anything and there is nothing they could do about it. So we have to just take the loss and move on.Our ceiling also fell down from a leak in our bedroom and we had to sleep with a big ass hole in the ceiling for 2 whole months and after complaining as much as we did they came and halfway fixed it... Dont rent from them they are not good people
8/25 Update - Check for deposit arrived between Aug 17 and Aug 24. Confirmation of Aug 4 postmark date provided today after doing my part since vacating the property on 6/30, being told by Michelle that the check was sent to the wrong address with no tracking number, then learning today that it was sent to the correct forwarding address (initially, there was no when or where about the check in their database according to Michelle, afterwhich about 10 days, a couple of emails, and a few phone phone calls followed - and I wouldve had to pay for the stop payment on the check had I not received it.) Total wait time: too effing long...and wee bit too much effort from someone whos not on payroll.Just posting here to see if anyone will respond (My yelp was ignored while you were pretty active over here suggesting people call your office).I vacated 426 Lark St. #4 on June 30, 2017 and returned my key before 12 noon on the same day. I emailed Michelle on 7/25 and left a voicemail for here on 8/2 with an updated change of address should your office need to send me anything (like info on my deposit or the actual deposit), but no ones gotten back to me.If I could a hypothesis, not acknowledging what Ive said/explained on 7/25 and on 8/2 is most likely how I was offered a lease extension I never wanted (which never got to me btw, was returned to your office, and about which I was contacted 59 days before my move-out date): I included in an maintenance email - about 6 weeks after I moved into #4 - that Id be vacating #4 at the end of my 12 month lease, but I was sent a lease extension anyway due to a gross lack of communication on the part of your staff. Ludicrous.Im leaving my updated address here: 2214 Frederick Douglass Blvd. #307, New York, NY 10027. As I stated in my email and voicemail to Michelle, the address I gave her after the lease extension mix up can no longer accept and forward my mail to me as they only provide forwarding for one month after a customer doesnt renew their mailbox rental. Thanks (not.),K. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Do NOT rent from Maddalone. Company is a complete joke. As soon as they get you signed on the dotted line, forget about it. They lie, try to appease you, but never fix anything or actually make it better. Luxury style apartments in Albany= disgusting grounds, building smelling like rotting garbage, bugs, unkempt stairways, malfunctioning fire alarm systems, etc, etc. DO NOT RENT from these people, consider yourself warned.
Originally gave 5 starts lived at 99 pine since June no issues, December they started constructions on new apartments located underneath current residents. They allow constructions worker to work as early as 7 am on the weekends while tenants are home and still sleep. They do not return phone calls or emails as I have left 3 for the director who would like to put a band aid on this situation rather than addressing it. NOONE WOULD HAD RENTED AN APARTMENT KNOWING THEY WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH CONSTRCUTIONS , SAWS AND CONSTANT YELLING FROM THE CONSTRUCTIONS EMPLOYEES. The company is not professional and should of listened to the reviews before renting. RENTERS BEWARE,
Not surprised to see so many other people have had negative experiences with this company. I set up a showing to view a house they had for rent, and was stood up by leasing agent Sam Thompson. He had confirmed the appointment just 2 hours before the showing, and didnt even show up. Very unprofessional and wasted an hour of my time. Didnt answer texts or calls, and their phone number it is impossible to talk to an actual person. Would give a 0/5 if possible.
If I could give less than a star I would. We invested A LOT of money into the house we moved into, in order for it to be inhabitable (I have receipts, pictures, and logs of all this work). The windows are dry rotting so bad the windows cant be opened and we need to constantly either have the heat on or air on to stabilize the air in the house obviously making the bills skyrocket, we cant use the shed or side door because its been broken in to too many times before us, the basement is so moldy and insulation is everywhere (which I requested to get taken care of before we moved in and it was never done) so we dont even use the whole floor, the paint and fix jobs done in between tenants is laughable, the bathroom and kitchen were so disgustingly dirty I had to take the shower doors out completely because you couldnt even see through the glass doors due to lime and soap scum caked on there and I had to re caulk everything. The pathway leading down to the basement has huge holes in the walls that were covered up by wallpaper only, the fence is falling apart in the backyard and theres at least two seasons of un raked leaves on the floor which prevented any grass to grow back there so its really nothing but a dust or mud pit depending on the weather, and the funniest story has to be that our oven was slowly leaking gas, eventually I caught on and got it looked at- apparently it was told to them the month before we moved in that the flex pipe needed to be changed and never was. We are miserable every day being here, If it wasnt for the money we barely were able to spend on fixing to be where we are today, we wouldve already left. Its so bad, our lease is up in a month and even though its hard financially to do this, we need to get out.
Today I and other neighbors called the police to a Maddalone property because an alarm continually went off. Firemen broke in and examined the property, calling in building and codes. A fireman confirmed how bad the breathing was downstairs, indicating the previous renters were entirely reasonable in departing. The next day a rep who manifests obvious signs of a clinically significant personality disorder came to the property but found out he could not enter because when the firemen had to break in the day before they must have messed with the locks. No remorse for the significant amount of trouble he caused the neighbors that we had to call the police. No remorse that approximately 8 firefighters had to arrive at his property to investigate his failure. Only concerned about his professional inconvenience; he was on the clock. Honestly one of the most disgusting things Ive heard in a while. This is who works for or owns Maddalone.
Just moved into a one bed room on 11 Fremont couldn’t be more happy with Maddalone & Associates, as well as the apartment itself. Rebecca Leverette was excellent straight forward no BS and very quick to respond with any questions or concerns I had. 5 stars across the board. 👍🏼
The worst management property company ever in life theyve left me with no heat for almost a year and a half now im going too court to break my lease its disgusting how the landlord and management company wont respond to service requests left me with no heat two winters in a row. Im done with these people are the worst scumlords
The worst experience I have ever had with a property management company. There is not enough room to write everything that is wrong about this company- their management, employees, and maintenance workers. They do not return emails or phone calls and grossly mismanage their record keeping and books. ZERO stars and avoid at all costs.
They rent apartment with bed bugs and no heat and refuse to fix anything or even EXTERMINATE they blame everything on the tenant and charge you for things that have nothing to do with you this is a scam company RUN RUN RUN!!!!! I called code and they were in violation on multiple accounts thier was a hole in my bathroom floor showing the tenant below me bedroom in full . I called the office and went into the office at least once a week for Jeff and michelle to accuse me of breaking the property after code violated them thats when mandoline termed thier agreement with the owner so if maddolone wants to speak on code or proof I have lots of paper work video pictures and emails from maddalone to back up what I have said.
I could take the time to retell the story of how well these guys did NOT handle responding to literal human waste flooding my apartment from my kitchen sink, due to a clog in the apartment above mes plumbing, but Ill refrain. Maddalone & Associates is a horrible excuse for a business. Dont waste your time. Ever.
Maddalone is an abusive, illegal, disgusting organization. Please beware. They left us to live in unsafe condition, illegally put clauses into their leases, and the upper management are abusive bullies who know that they can get away with their nonsense. FIGHT IT if they screw you- I guarantee they will.
The worst type of slum lords! I took them to court, won the case, and they still filed a credit claim even though the judge ruled in my favor. Im still dealing with the negative impacts of this on my credit report because of Maddalone Associates FOUR YEARS LATER!! Avoid this company like the plague
I have read some of the reviews here and I am surprised - I have had only the best experience with this company and their employees! My advice to anyone that has issues that you should work them out with the company - nothing is ever perfect but I am happy with them so far (over a year!)
Absolutely terrible experience signed a 12 month contract only to get illegally evicted no reason other than the landlord wanted the apartment evicted so because of this my pregnant wife and 3 other kids were on the street no thanks to these atrocious disgrace of human beings never go here they never return calls or emails either you go here at your own risk of knowing they will scam you out of your deposit
I currently rent from this company they have yet to fix anything in my apt i have bats an squirrels running around my home a back door that wont lock bugs mice squatters all kinds of dead smelling animals coming from the basement i have called code for the 2nd time this month save time money and energy bypass this company they are not worth it
Own property next to him and Chris and his team are the worst, they provide poor maintenance to the property they rent one bedroom apartments where adults and their children are herded in them like cattle a safety issue for sure and then garbage sits for weeks on the front porch where it brings animals and doesnt belong.on, the front porch should be condemned it is unsafe weak boards all over.

2021-06-28I have lived under this management for 3 years now and I feel like such a bother when addressing safety concerns or incidents that arise to them. One thing tenants want to ensure above all else is that they are safe where they live. Although they don’t have control over what happens in the community, they do have control over their properties. A multi-million dollar property management company and it has been a struggle working with them sometimes. Jeff has helped me tremendously since living here and Jessica has always been pleasant, and Sage seems pretty cool too, so I hate to include individuals who have done well by me, however something has to give when tenants address issues that arise within their control. I spoke to tenants all over the building and even the building they own next door and I have heard some very unpleasant things. We pay $1000 to live in these units, a lot of us hard working adults just trying to come home and enjoy the property we are paying to reside in, thats all. I am not one to make complaints and love to keep the peace because its who I am, I get along with everyone and always avoid conflict but when you feel like you are being gaslighted, ignored and not taken seriously it bothers tenants who pay money to them to keep their business thriving. I hope they internalize these honest ratings and come up with a strategic plan of how they can better monitor their property and ensure the safety of their tenants. The tenants literally look out for each more so because we don’t feel they will do that for us. We see things, hear things and end up just mostly sharing it with each other because when we do share it with management there isn’t much resolution. They need to hire more impressionable, respectful and nice staff members as individuals like property managers and front desk/assistants are the faces of the company and who people interact with the most. Those are the first and last impressions of a business and as a current manager, these are things you learn in business. The feedback people leave is extremely important to helping business grow and should always be taking into consideration of simply “how can we be better”.. and that doesn’t seem to happen here.

2020-03-05Overall a great experience! Rebecca was great when I wanted to see apartments a second time before making a decision about moving. She even helped me out with requesting a work order when things werent quite righto n my move in day. My only complaint was the fact that the offices for signing the lease were in Schenectady instead of Albany and were only open during business hours so I had to take an afternoon off from work in order to get out there. Nonetheless, the group deserves 5 stars!

2014-04-24Weve lived in (2) apartments managed by Maddalone & Associates. Our rental agent was great but the services provided and the condition of the apartments and complex were far from great. Lights would burn out in the Hallways and not be replaced after months, there was a hole in our front door (living on Lark street youd prefer to have a complete door for security reasons), the back stairwell was always cluttered with garbage and insulation which Im sure is against fire code. We then quickly transferred our lease within Maddalone to another newer property on Broadway. At first it was great until the washers above our apartment started leaking down into our living room cause the paint and ceiling to bubble. Calls were made to the emergency line and emails were sent to multiple people. After days turned into weeks finally and repair came to see the damage then went to fix the washers. Our ceiling was never fixed. To this day (we moved out in December 2013) the ceiling is probably still damaged. After we finally moved out and left Maddalone and Associates we werent sent our deposit check for 4 months which we then found out we were charged for late fees that didnt add up. We requested proof showing either our negligence paying late or proof that we hadnt already paid our late fees. No answer from them yet. Long story short they shorted us over $500 and I would not recommend leasing from them to ANYONE!

2020-12-03Im on the 2nd year of my lease in my apartment. 3 months into my renewed lease, my ceiling sprung a leak (aka the roof). At first they were very communicative, telling me that they were trying their best to fix it and that they would get someone to come out to take care of it. I was never home when they said they would be there, so I dont know if they ever actually were. Its been 3 months now since the initial leak and its still not fixed and it keeps getting worse. The building manager is ignoring my calls and e-mails. Im willing to live with this situation as I understand that it might be difficult to take care of in the middle of winter, but they will not grant me any leeway in the form of reduced rent as I am living in a construction zone (and a smaller space than I signed a lease to live in) and they will not hear my request to move into another one of their units for the rest of my lease. I have always been a good tenant and have paid my rent on time (up until this issue). Im in a constant state of stress every time it rains, as I dont know if my buckets will hold out or if another spot on the ceiling will start to let water through. My wall is cracked and brown and peeling and its disgusting. My renters insurance wont cover any property damage done as its an issue with their building and nothing that they insure. The only reason they get 2 stars is the first year of living there was fine (Minus the squirrels in the walls, which they eventually, after many requests, took care of) and they say they have been working on fixing the roof. Im about to have a nervous breakdown because of this and they just dont care. For the record: Even though they say it was fixed below, the roof continued to leak until the day I moved out. and I was never compensated (in reduced rent) for my poor living conditions. I only wish I could have warned the person that moved in after me.

2018-10-29Anyone reading these comments, please head the warnings. This company is the worst Ive ever done business with. When I went to sign the lease, 2 days before moving, I was told there isnt a washer and dryer any longer. Even though the apt was advertised with laundry facilities and I was told that there was a washer and dryer in the basement when I viewed the apt. Anyhow, I had no choice at that late date but to move. When I went to move in, it was a Friday evening, I couldnt access the apartment. The leasing agent gave me the wrong keys. I had professional movers coming in the morning so I called Maddalones emergency maintenance. The person who showed was great but warned me that any promises made to me at the time I saw the apartment wouldnt be upheld. He said that he sees it happen time and time again. Once I gained access to the apartment none of the maintenance that was promised to me during the time I saw the apartment had been done. I took pics of everything. I would have not moved in but I had movers coming in the AM, the house I was currently renting had sold so I needed to move and I have two dogs. I had no choice but to move in. Let me say, I moved in on 7/1/18 and moved out on 8/27/18. It wasnt the apt that had been promised and Maddalone knew it. They let me out of my lease because I have a boat load of evidence of promises made and upheld. Now, it is 10/29/18. I still have not received my security deposit back. On 10/16/18 I was told by the account manager, Samantha Short, that the check would be mailed by the end of the week. I still havent received it. I have tried reaching out to Samantha again but shes ignoring me. Now I must file a suit with small claims court. Please learn from my mistake and dont rent from Maddalone under any circumstance. If you do, trust me when I say, youll regret the decision.

2019-10-12I recently rented from Maddalone and I’m extremely 😃 with my new place!Rebecca was my agent and she was Great! She showed us a couple of places and found us one that was the perfect fit. She’s always nice and she is the best for getting things done when we need something or have a question. The apartment is great for the price!

2019-10-09I was extremely happy with the leasing process w Maddalone. They have an organized process of screening to assure we would be a good fit for the places we were interested in. Or leasing agent was very professional and friendly. She suggested several other homes aside from the one we had inquired about and made time for us to tour each one. In fact, We decided on one she suggested instead. It took only a few days for approval and to sign the lease. She made the lease signing fun as well as very informative going over every detail to be sure we understood all the terms and answered all our questions to our satisfaction! Our new place has been very comfortable and any time we have had an issue or concern they have been very helpful. Its great that we can do everything online, including putting in requests for maintenance! We have only had to pt in one request but within 24 hours we were contacted by Omarie and she dispatched maintenance to come and fix the issue in no time! So far weve had a great experience and are happy we chose to rent from this company.

2019-09-26We were looking to find a new apartment that had more space and was closer to work. Anthony Burke was great; very nice, not at all pushy, easy to talk to, and attentive. We had a few hiccups in the process prior to signing the lease, but they were very accommodating. The building definitely has its quirks, but everything has been great so far with the apartment!

2016-10-11Should have known when i first moved in that the care level was not there when the new rug we were promised was just layed over the old one and not even stapled down. Had multiple issues with out door and other fixtures that were always haphazardly put back together. I guess for $750 a month in Saratoga we should have known better. Our living room carpets began to be soaked for months and black mold growing throughout the house, i went back and forth with the building manager emailing and playing phone tag and still no maintenance team to check out the problem. It wasnt until my roommate and myself called a city inspector to come look at the issue and he called the company that anyone came down to look at it. We decided to move out and break the lease due to their negligence, and we were promised our security deposit back as long as we cleaned the house. We passed the inspection, and then a week later was told that they changed their minds and not getting it back. Tried multiple times to talk to a manager or owner but was told that i couldnt, that all my messages to one got sent back to the property manager to handle. Was going to take legal action, but a lawyer would cost me just about what the security deposit was. Not the only person with issues like this, remember sometimes you must pay for quality!

2018-08-28I strongly recommend you find somewhere else, because if I could give negative stars I would. We had a repair that needed to be done that took 3 months, 4 different maintenance guys, 3 of which had no idea what they were doing. When I’d try to contact them they’d keep making excuses (it was a window replacement). The window was brought to our house but never put in and then they came and took then window back and we had to wait another 2+ weeks to get it replaced. They never answer the phone when you call. They seem super friendly when you’re in the process of moving in but once you get in, good luck getting help with anything. Things in the house are broken before you move in, and then once you move in you have to pay to fix them. They didn’t clean the house before move in like they said they would and like we requested and it was very dirty, and we had to clean it all ourselves after moving in. For repairs they just show up, no notice, they’ll bang on your door at 8am until someone opens it. They’re just hunting for money. They told us we couldn’t rent from them originally and when we said okay were coming to get our deposit back they immediately changed their mind. The house, as we requested to be cleaned because it was gross, never got cleaned and were told it’s not their problem. There was a bunch of items from previous tenants. They NEVER answer the phone when you call, you have to hope they call you back or you have to go there. Emails are rarely answered. They won’t tell you the cost of maintenance until you get a bill in the mail. Your only chance of getting things done is freaking out at the agent you work with, and then it MAY get done or they’ll tel you it’s not their problem. As we are now at the end of our lease, 3/4 people are leaving, and the other has been planing on staying and getting 3 new people. We got a letter notorized saying that was what happened prior to the 60 days notice they require. Now they are denying returning the security deposit, because they are denying the application of the one staying, and since he didn’t give 60 days of leaving (because up until now he was staying), we are all losing our deposits, when we have been told several times that our deposits are can be designated per person not as a whole.I could go on and on, all I can say is don’t rent from this company unless you want to be disappointed.
