We stopped here for breakfast. It was delicious! Friendly staff, good food, and super cute country decor. The cows made us smile. This place makes you feel at home. Definitely recommend stopping in for a bite to eat if you are near the Waterloo thru way exit/entrance👍👍
The food is really good. I stop in just for the chicken parmesan and I tip generously--I even picked up the bill for a mother who had her hands full with two toddlers.I give it two stars because I have walked out twice of the five times I dined there. The service is inconsistent. I either sit at the counter or a booth. They give me my drink and then just forget about me. I have sat there for fifteen minutes and still no one even takes my order. They think just because I have a drink I am being taken care of. Besides the one waitress wore a distasteful pair of leggings.Ill be back because the food is good and maybe next time I will be lucky to have adequate service.
We used to love going to this diner but we just cant anymore. The last 3 times the food has been either cold or undercooked. This last time we went I ordered their famous burger and it was literally raw in the middle. They cooked me a new one and it was cooked but the meat tasted like it was going bad. Plus this burger used to be loaded with bacon and blue cheese but not anymore. Magee Diner is just to big of a disappointment anymore.
Sorry but the service was bad . Last time going there. The food was just ok. We thought it was going to be good due to the reviews and there ad online .They had nothing homemade as advertised online.First the waitress totally Ignore us for about 15 minutes or so Before she even brought us anything to drink. The food was OK I had a Belgium waffle which was OK my wife just had eggs and and home fries and she barely touched her food because it tasted Greasy . The waitress brought the food and never came back again. Had to go to the counter to get our check.
Waitress with a bad attitude. Hurry and give me your order, I have something else to do. Literally dropped the menus, coffee and never returned. I can not remember walking out of a restaurant but I did today. 45 minutes later the second waitress confirmed our order was never turned in. Seems out of towners are not welcomed here, just a locals only place. Wait staff never came to check on us, walked around so not to make eye contact with us. Avoided us completely. Dont worry, Ill never be back.
We just stumbled upon this place looking for a Tim Hortons for coffee on our ride home. So glad we did. We saw friends we met at the Engelbert concert and the food was good ol home cooked. Very delicious!! Waitress was so pleasant & friendly....cant remember her name.
As a trucker I’ve long been aware of this diner… and as a former restaurant operator I’ve noted that it always looks busy. So I convinced my wife to take a 50-mile drive with me to try it out. The food was perfectly okay, but our experience was ruined when we were greeted by a nasty and hostile woman making bogus legal claims about mask-wearing. As we ate, we overheard her loudly and profanely complaining about customers. OUR waitress was great and we tipped her generously, but we will never go back.
Are 1st time eating out at a restaurant post Co vid reopening we were surprised very few people inside on the 4th of JulyWe ordered are fish dinners and they were delivered to are table 5 minutes later smoked BbQ ribs and chicken also availableFresh Haddock beer bater was the best I had in a long time awesome
Went to have breakfast. Terrible terrible. Asked for hard fried eggs they came out not only once but twice runny. The home fries were so burnt and cold you could not eat them. The tomato soup was gross but still charged. Ok I ordered it so whatever. The waitress was a bit rude. Two of us plus a 3 yr old. Didn’t eat much. Didn’t offer more to drink.
Very burnt inside my chicken ceaser wrap, very dry, no sauce, all I taste was char. Completely lost my appetite after first bite. Thought side of ranch would help..I was wrong. Actually got sick after the second bite....I regret swallowing. Now Im dealing with a fever and stomach pains..... although my family got the specials and theres came out great nothing wrong with it. Lucky them..
Their food is usually really good. A few times I’ve eaten here they served me really burnt food. Breakfast is great! I was so so so disappointed tonight. The main reason that I eat here is because of the raspberry cobbler (which is my favorite dessert specifically from here. It’s to die for) and they didn’t even have it!! On top of that, they have great chili but no cornbread!?
Well didnt get a chance to eat there there were more than 5 open tables sat there for fifteen still didnt get seated so I decided not to eat there and go someplace else ridiculous when they have open tables and they dont seat you dont know whos running this place but it seems kind of stupid that open tables and not seat people in them
Huge menu full of delicious hearty meals. Spacious, friendly and comfortable. But zero points in the bathroom. The urinal is plasticized because its not working and all of the plumbing is exposed to the only toilet. Nor was it well lit. Hopefully they renovate before I return.
We were finishing up our weekend at Cayuga and decided to stop in for breakfast. GLAD WE DID! Reminded me of a diner growing up with my grand parents....Being a southern boy, I couldnt pass up the biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns....deeliiicious! Hidden gem...
Unreasonably expensive given food quality. Burger undercooked and club sandwich toast was burnt. Fries were good. The Service was fine and food came fast but there was a long wait for a table although the restaurant was empty and then we asked for a booth but were given a table in the center of the room although there were a few booths open. snappy, rude, mean manager.
Stopped in for some comfort food, it was very busy in there, but we didn’t wait long. Our waitress was Ciera (Spelling?). She was awesome, fast, made all of us laugh and was patient with my father in law who is extremely particular with his order. When we come back next year I hope she’s still there!
We have driven by many times but decided to try it for the first time today. We got seated right away. Our waitress was friendly and seemed to be working very hard to get everyone taken care of. The omelettes were good but the pancakes were all really dark and just not good. I even asked for mine light. The other waitresses didn’t seem like they were very happy when customers came in. Maybe they are tired out from being short staffed? Either way they seem burnt out.
We loved this place! Country home charm inside. Bonnie greeted us and we promptly went on a waiting list. That always tells me the food and the service is worth the wait! It was their lunch rush. We didnt wait long at all. The food was perfect. The staff was friendly. The bathrooms were clean. Everyone we saw going in and out were so friendly too. Right off the thruway. We will be back!
Id give this a zero if I could...went there had horrible service, food was not good ,still paid and left. No biggie it happens. Got home and the waitress added more to my debit card then I left. I contacted the owner who apologized and said hed refund the $. After weeks of a runaround he started to not respond to my messages. Its been months and I still havent received my money back. Thats fraud! I would never go back and because I gave the owner multiple chances to correct this since he didnt I will let everyone know about my experience.
We stopped here after our trip to the outlets for back to school shopping. We wanted to check out the little diner. The day we were there they were having an issue with the credit card machine. They did tty to advise people but not everyone was told. We were not told but luckily we did have cash on hand. the food was good. Portions were big! Overall i would go again.
Neatly decorated diner. I ordered the bbq chicken which came with corn bread and bbq beans. It was delicious. Theres a notice out front that the restuarant is short staffed and may result in a delay. The staff were welcoming and friendly. One waitress humorously challenged me to a rap off contest.
Food is beyond disgusting, cold not cooked as asked. Making more excuses why they cant complete your order, because it would talk to long to cook. Staff excluding Jessica, is horrendous. Including the full staff was talking about and disrespectful about another customer, while others were still in the establishment. This would explain why they are selling. Not impressed and we wont be back!!!
I stopped on my way home from niagra falls...I could tell that they were not used to having many people which was sad because the restaurantwas half empty... I will say that it wasnt worth the money and the infamous cornbread that I was so excited to get was extremely disappointing it was brown and tasted like spiced cake or carrot cake without the carrots or cream cheese frosting.... my partner and I were extremely disappointed. Especially when he Google photos of the cornbread and it usually looks like cornbread.... the food was mediocre at best. .. they need to hire staff that knows something more than hi someone will be with u shortly I cant do that Im sorry this was the ladys response to taking a name on a waitlist for seating, answering calls, taking an order, or answering any questions to he honest Im not sure what she did know
Stopped here with my wife and son before hitting the Waterloo Outlet Mall. Heard by word of mouth how good this place is. In spite of all this pandemic nonsense, the staff is doing everything possible to accommodate their customers.Warm inviting staff, good hot fresh food, reasonable prices. I judge a breakfast place on their sausage biscuits and gravy; and Magee Country Diner delivers!I recommend a stop over if youre in the area.
The food was ok. Waitress we had was very rude to the point I had to say something to her, she then had someone else wait on us and continued to be rude. I have waitressed in my past so I do understand how it can be, however her demeanor to us 4 older women was uncalled for.Never an apology from her even once I said something to her.
The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. The fries had been definitely sitting around for while prior to eating. They were cold. For over $3 as a side instead of chips they should have been hot. He bread on the grilled sandwich was burned.. Ive always wanted to try McGee out over the years and after a very long not so good day we did..... we will pribably not be back.
Stopped here for an early dinner as me and my companion love the small time diners, plus love to help locally in this trying time, the hostess seemed annoyed when we first got there, however our waitress Jamie was terrific! She was very attentive and friendly and gave us great recommendations! I definitely recommend this country diner!
Always a good meal!! Their breakfast is awesome and is served until 2PM daily. Their Strawberry Shortcake is my favorite dessert and served on a homemade biscuit. They put on an addition to accommodate larger parties which is nice, since the main part could only hold one party of 6 or more. Extremely busy on Sunday mornings. They do take reservations. Conveniently located right off the NYS thruway.
We discovered this cozy diner by chance on our way back from niagara falls to New York City. We really wanted to eat in an authentic Highway Diner once. Food was great. Service very nice. Everything is really cozy and absolutely authentic. Definitely worth a stop.Simon and Dani from Germany.
Stumbled upon this diner by chance while on our trip around Seneca lake. My husband ordered a burger & I got the Pig wing platter. Never in my life have I heard of pig wings, nonetheless deep fried!! These are to die for! One of the sauce options is their homemade sweet & sour, the only con is they do not sale it by the jar! I would have bought several to stock up. Good sweet country cornbread too! Our waitress was exceptional! Excellent service, which is hard to find. Would travel to eat here again. Highly recommend.
I usually go in the evening. I am knitting a green sweater and the staff is usually fantastic. However, I showed up for lunch today and the service was terrible. The hostess acted like she was bothered by my presence; my waitress was very inattentive and after 25 minutes waiting for a cheeseburger that still did not arrive--I left. I usually tip $10 because I try to help where I am able because so many people have been out of work. Its a different place at dinner. She never even asked me if I wanted to hear the specials. My waitress at night has twins and she is fantastic.
Ordered their sausage gravy and biscuits. It was fantastic. Gravy wasnt too thick or overly runny and the biscuits were light and fluffy. Staff personnel were very friendly and accommodating. It is a clean place with a comfortable atmosphere. My wife, kids, and I will add this place as a regular spot for us.
I had to wait for a table about 10 minutes only to find around the corner was about 6 tables clean and ready to go. Service was bad, all I heard any of the staff do was complain the whole time I was there. A long wait for the food, guessing about 30 minutes. Food was excellent though. A little expensive too but not extraordinarly so
Homemade bread, huge omelettes, best homemade cinnamon rolls Ive ever tasted, like melt in your mouth delicious, all the staff is extremely friendly, the customers are friendly.. the entire vibe is wonderful, warm and homey. Nice place to relax and eat. Theyre wasnt a huge wait either and they were packed!
This place really did an excellent job accommodating a large party of 20 with short notice. I did not hear one bad thing from anyone in our party. The food was excellent and served quickly. The staff was attentive to us and everyone in the restaurant. I cant say enough about this place I had the cheeseburger wrap which was very good.
The Magee Diner is a staple for the area. Anyone who is local knows this is an excellent place, with wonderful staff and amazing comfort food style cooking. The decor is very welcoming, it feels like your eating at your grandmothers. When we went there, the place was packed nearly out the door but its worth the wait because the quality of food here is exceptional. If you are in the area, I highly recommend a stop here. Im fairly certain you wont regret this small town stop with delicious food. & Please remember to tip your waitress, those ladies work very hard with a smile.
I like this place, its good. Our waitress forgot to put our order in and it was Easter Sunday so we had places to be. When she realized this she did quickly put our order in and couldnt apologize enough. She was sweet. I would have taken maybe the coffee off the bill for the inconvenience 🥴. Ill return again!
Stopped in to grab a cheeseburger before getting on the thruway. Not sure what they gave me, but it certainly didnt taste like a cheeseburger. And, the french fries were not cooked long enough. I ate at this diner 2 years ago and it was amazing, so Im not sure what happened this time.
Just average. Waited 5 minutes even before a waitress would acknowledge my wife and I. When we were acknowledged, the waitress was pretty gruff stating Were full, you need to take a seat No pleasantness at all. The food was served quickly (hot sandwiches) and was OK, nothing special and nothing to complain about. This was a Saturday evening around 7 pm.
I expected more from a moms and pops. 20 bucks got the chicken fried steak meal, was 2 small steaks taste like they had been thawed, mash potatoes no flavor and was cold. Burger buns cheap, did not look like a burger bread, and it was small french fries looked like they were the last of the bag, you know the small ones. Coke was 3 bucks!! Our waitress was cool thou.
I really appreciate this restaurant in following covid-19 guidelines to the T. I felt very safe, well as safe as one could think they are. Coffee is good, thats always important to me. Waitress was very welcoming and the food was delicious. (Even IF the food would have been horrible the waitress would have made up for it) and no im not related to her, she was just that genuinely nice. So kudos to Magees Country Diner.
My girlfriend and I stopped here after shopping at the outlets all day. We were staying at del Lago and were very hungry after not eating since breakfast. The restaurant was very clean, following covid regulations. We both ordered the chicken parm and were very surprised by our meal when it was delivered to our table. It was 2 pieces of chicken parm that was to big for the platter it came on on top of a bed of spaghetti. We could have ordered 1 meal and split it and still would have left stuffed. The meal was delicious, the staff very friendly. I know when I am that way again I will be stopping at the Magee Diner. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to stop and eat.
I stopped here for a quick lunch. The service was great and the food was outstanding! I had the bacon cheeseburger, and wish I had tasted it before adding condiments. The flavor of the burger could stand alone without those extras! If you are driving on 90 through NYS and get to this area of the state, do yourself a favor and forget the rest stop food where youll pay extra for a dried up hockey puck disguised as a burger. Instead, get off at exit 41 and treat yourself to a real meal at this diner!
Dont go out often, especially for breakfast. My sister-in-law and I came for a treat. Our potatoes were not cooked and almost all the food was cold! Two tables next to us were complaining, also. One even returned oatmeal because wasnt cooked and cold (wow). Then made comment let us know if need to microwave more.Highly disappointed
The waitress was amazing. The food well. I only ate it because I was hungry and sent back once already. It was a dish that cost. With artichoke and chicken black olives mushrooms and onion. The chicken was over cooked to the point that it was hard. There wasnt any really sauce consitancy to it at all with little taste. My husband had a club sandwich. And Fries that was good. So I would stick to burgers and fries etc. When eating here.
We have dropped in occasionally when in the area. Much better than chains. Friendly fast service. All day breakfast and their unique Deep Fried Pig Wings. A tad greasy but didn’t know what to expect? Quirky cow decor that makes the space interesting. Seating is hard benches so not a place you would hang out for an extended time.
We had just left the casino and wanted a quick bite. I am very glad we stopped at Magees! Both of us ordered the fish and chips and even though the dining room was 80% full the waitress quickly returned with our meal. It was delicious food and the fries were perfect. Nice large servings, I was impressed and satisfied with our quick stop. Next time I am in the area Magee County Diner is on my list of places to eat.
The restaurant was nice and clean, we only had to wait 2 mins to be seated. The food was excellent, and you got your moneys worth, I couldnt even eat all mine in a matter of fact I had to bring the rest of it home. The waitress was so kind and polite, she treated my mom and I really nice. My mom and I were at Waterloo Premium Outlet Mall so we did lunch at Maggies.Everytime we do are shopping thats were we have our lunch.I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.NICE JOB TO EVERYONE AT MAGGIES RESTURANT.THANK YOU ALL.TIM BABCOCK.(OSWEGO, NEW YORK)
The menu did not reflect accurately how a salad was made. We were told they just changed the type of lettuce used and the menu didnt state the new type yet. Not a big deal to many people but I ordered the salad BECAUSE of the type of lettuce the menu said. I was stared at like I had three heads when I mentioned this. Also, the waitress was not friendly to us at all, and glared at us when we asked for ice cream. Dont worry, waitress - we wont bother you again for a very long time.
Had to change my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars. Everything was great, food was delicious, waitress (Rachel) was awesome, but about 2 hours after eating I got very sick. This was the 1st time in my life I have gotten food poisoning. Was not a fun experience. Judging from other reviews, this was probably a fluke, but to be safe I will not be going back anytime soon.
Hands down the worst restaurant I have been to. Our app was supposed to be stuffed potato skins instead we got old baked potato cut in half with huge gobs of sour cream on them. My brother ordered the bacon cheeseburger witch he did not even eat it was so thin dry and overcooked I dont blame him. When we said something to our server Jessica she was very rude and would not come back to the table after that. Definitely the worst servive and the food was so bad we did not even eat it. But the check was still 68.40 they must mark up the prices for lack of business because as said,on multiple reviews a soda is over 3 dollars
The food was ok. What really bothered me was how the Diner handled an incident. The waitress dropped a plate while serving my food. The plate she was carrying fell and broke in front of our table. One of the pieces hit me in the elbow it really hurt. She did apologize. They broken glass was not cleaned properly. The waitress only picked up the large pieces. We watched several customers walk over it.This included a senior woman with a walker. The table we sat at was under a leaking air duct. I had to move my plate so the water would not get in my food. They could of accommodated the bill. This could have easily turned into a legal matter if pursued. I could express my thoughts regarding the outside dining environment but I wont. Never again nor would I recommend.
Having eaten here a couple times before, I was looking forward to my most recent visit. NOT disappointed. Five friends met me there for breakfast, on our way to an all day meeting. Everyone was pleased with the meal and the service. On our way home that evening, the person riding with me agreed that he would like to stop in for supper on our return trip. We enjoyed it every bit as much. They have recently replaced their tiny restrooms with new ones that could almost hold a squaredance. The new fixtures are great. We also enjoyed the cow atmosphere, the outstanding service and great food. I am already looking forward to my next visit to the Magee Country Diner.
The food is very good and generous servings, and desserts are fabulous - leave lots of room for the Strawberry Shortcake! Used to go every week for the Friday Fishfry, but since the new casino came in McGees upped their prices, though they still remain comparable to area eateries. My only criticism would be the waitstaff lack of more tidy and professional dress...the casual dresscode should be limited to the customers.
The service was horrible. We were served a bowl of cold macaroni & cheese. I sat at the table and watched our food sit up in the window for approximately 4 or 5 minutes while our server was no where around. If thats the best you got, you can keep it. A waste of an hour & 45 minutes waiting on so so food & a 43.00 dollar bill! So disappointed. 😠
The Mac and cheese tasted great but really? 8 dollars for a small bowl? And 3.50 for a soda? The restaurant was cramped, they need to rearrange the tables for better traffic flow. The staff was nice enough but seemed a bit overwhelmed, they did say they were shorthanded.

2022-06-16Stopped on our way home from Niagara Falls to Boston. Left Canada early 6am) to beat the lines at Customs so after a couple of hours into the ride home we were ready for breakfast. I had done a little research the night before and found Magee Country Diner might just fit the bill. Reviews were very good and it was easy on, easy off Rt. I90, so we decided to give it a try. We were glad we did. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our waitress was very pleasant and efficient. She took our drink orders first and the took breakfast orders from 4 gentleman seated near us. After putting their orders in she returned to us and the took our orders. No sooner had she put ours in did she return with the breakfast plates for the table next to us. We were pleased to see this as we were on the road and knew it meant we would not have to spend more time than we wanted to.Breakfast as expected came out quick and hot. In our group we had pancakes, a waffle, a bagel, poached eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage and a honey glazed cornbread. Breakfast did not disappoint. Everything was excellent. The cornbread was amazing, the best I’ve ever had. Bacon was very flavorful, although I would have like a little more. Home fries were good and eggs were poached exactly way I like them, soft not hard. Those with waffles, pancakes & bagels were very pleased with their selections. Magee’s has a really nice vibe. Very welcoming and homey. It has a country old time decor with some fun and interesting items to look at. I highly recommend Magee’s, especially if you are traveling through the area on the highway and wound like a great meal at a great price. My only regret about Magee’s is that I don’t live near it.

2021-07-24Wow! Just wow!!! Anything you get will definitely be delicious but you MUST try the honey glazed cornbread!!! Stayed in the area for a few days and came here each day for breakfast. The staff were all friendly and kind. They were super busy but the wait was reasonable and after you get in the food comes relatively fast! Would definitely go back!

2021-07-07Our waitress was super nice. The food was good, but would have been better if it was all home cooked. It has a bottles gravy taste and the pies were several days old. A lot of fun decor.

2022-02-20Came on a Sunday, the line was out the door but it was only a 10 minute wait. The service was fast and phenomenal. The food was superb! Eggs were fresh and cooked to perfection. The French toast was huge!!! 2 huge pieces 10/10
