This take out only fish spot is on my list of favorite spots in Harlem. Make my fish hands down has earned my fried seafood cravings money.I ordered the whiting and chips. The cost, portion size and quality of food makes this the biggest steal in Harlem. I order at least once a week. The whiting fish is always fresh, crispy and perfectly seasoned. The crinkle cut fries does a perfect job to compliment the fish. The 4 piece fish and chips has enough portion size that I am always able to save some for later. Then Make my fish makes my day.
Everytime I come to NY I make sure I go to Make My Fish for a shrimp dinner! The shrimp is fried to perfection, the collard greens and mac and cheese is GREAT, everything taste like it was made right in Nanas kitchen!!! I tell everyone about this place, it comes HIGHLY recommended by me!
Totally Seasoned to Perfection and Fried Crispy enough to satisfy any pallet.I have ordered it both in person as well as through Uber Eats and never been disappointed. They give you plenty of fish and its well worth the minimal price.Excellent!!In the picture is the fried catfish.
I happened to be in the area and noticed Make My Fish! So I had to check it out after Paint & Sip. The place is well lit, Cashier was professional and kind. She acknowledged me immediately to tell me shed be with me in a few as she was finishing up with a customer. I heard 2 customers talk about their catfish and how good it is. So Ill be trying that next time. I ordered a fish sandwich and my gawsssssh. It was sooo good. Seasoned well, good portion. I would definitely make the trip from the Bronx just for that fish again. The staff are pleasant and professional. I enjoyed my time in the establishment. P.S. Ill update more pics as I go😁
The only reason I m giving 3 stars isnt for the food...food is good the lady was very pleasant because I tried to order with her an was at the wrong counter....The order young lady was clearly on her cell phone that the young pleasant lady who gives your food had to tell her to take the order an get off your phone....its a shame someone else has to tell u to get off the phone when clearly you are in the service industry....
This was some of the best tasting fish and shrimp I’ve had in a long time. We ordered the Triple Play, Mac&Cheese and Candied Yams. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! The prices are fair and the food is yummy. It’s worth it. The portions are surprisingly large for what you pay! They give you your money’s worth. I’m definitely going back for more.
This was my first time at Make my fish and I was not disappointed. This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend a while ago. This morning I was in the mood for fish and grits and decided to give this place a shot. I’m glad I did. The fried whiting were perfect, crispy, flaky on the inside and seasoned just right. The shrimp are crunchy and the batter has a sweet kick to it which is very pleasing. The wait time was little to none and I received my order in under five minutes. Everything was hot and fresh! The cheese grits has bit too much cheese in it but once you eat it with the fish it kinds of balance out. I gave 4 stars because of the cheese if there was a little less it would be perfect. I will be there again, maybe sometimes this week.
It must be their mother’s recipe! OMG!!!!!!I went there for the 1st time (fish, shrimp, greens &Mac & cheese). I had to pull over in the car, just soI could dig in! The sides were ok but those shrimp!!they were freshly made with a sweet taste. The fishSo good and crispy as a potato chip! Love it!Same as the Fish on 145th…
The person at the register greeted me & took my order. The service was swift and seemless. Although there was an unprofessional playful bantor, to me it felt like my familys kitchen. The food . . . . . .BANGIN!!! (Side note: Slim tall brother in the back care for your hygiene in the restroom and wash your hands)
Attention Brooklyn Make My Fish is the TRUTH!! I ordered the fish with shrimp oh my goodness. I also had the lemonade and the ice tea. Oh my goodness, listen this is DEFINITELY the spot I promise you. We need them to come to Brooklyn like yesterday. Tell your family, friends, neighbor, pastor, co worker, lawyer take that ride up there its DEFINITELY worth it you wont be disappointed. Make My Fish will make its way to Brooklyn but for now make your way there....
Honesty is their best policy! I inadvertently ordered twice on Uber Eats, and not only did they offer to give me the extra order for free, they also called Uber Eats right away to cancel it. Food wise: it’s consistently good and I’ve never been disappointed at this place. Please support our local Harlem fish place. And yes, New Yorkers are kind.
Make My Fish came highly recommended by my Uncle Charlie, The King of Charles Pan Fried Chicken. Let me tell you.... When I say the CATFISH WAS GOOD I MEANT EVERY WORD OF IT... HUNTEE... the catfish was to die for! Thanks Alex!!! You’re super kind and professional!!! It was a sincere pleasure meeting you! Wishing you the very best success in this business! I thank you for the great advice on my own grab and go, which will be coming very soon in the Bronx! Please recommend some of those great employees you have!! Everyone is so kind, hard working and NOT ON THEIR CELL PHONES!!! I am looking forward to seeing you again real soon! Thanks for everything!!! Last but not least, my family loved, loved all of the whiting, catfish, shrimp and the sweet potato salad!!! MAKE MY FISH IS ADDICTING!!! Support SUPPORT and most importantly ENJOY YOUR FOOD!~GEORGETTE
I live 2 hours away. Everyytime I try to get there, either they closed or closing. Well I made it for thr first time this weekend. BAAAABY. THE CATFISH NUGGETS the shrimp the all fish. And the sides. 😋😋😋 I love supporting my people. I will definitely be back. The only downside was the smell when I entered. Buy my mask helped somewhat with that. It was all worth it. 🥰
Customer service is far from great and If youre accustomed to southern style fried fish this is not the place for you. Your better off ordering from the place across the street if southern is your style. The fish here wasnt nasty just also wasnt good. I have never ate catfish that taste the way theirs do. It tasted like rubber.
Not too many places I will rate 5 stars but MMF exceeded my expectations. Its like those old back in the day fish and chips places in Harlem that evolved. The food was good and the fish was fresh and nicely seasoned. I chose the Mac and cheese with greens as sides and was not disappointed...at all. Customer service was courtesy and welcoming 👍
I’m a regular here, however the girl cashier who answered the phone yesterday is ratchet. Turned me off completely aside from my order being messed up. Spent $38 on shrimp and got the complete opposite. Mac & cheese was spoil (tangy) taste and the candy yams was about the ONLY edible thing. I’m disappointed because when I’ve went in person things were better. It was good while it last!

First and foremost i have to give you yall props.. the food was delicious catfish/shrimp and chips was everything. I wouldve gave a five start review, however i have to respectfully say.. can yall change the floor mat or wash it because it doesnt smell good.ThanksOne love Peace and blessings
This is the perfect example of an amazing hole in the wall fish fry spot. It looks kind of janky, but the fish is outstanding. Might be the best fried catfish Ive ever had. My only negative is that the catfish sandwich is just a regular order of catfish with two slices of sandwich bread. Just putting the fish on a bun with sauce would be amazing, but its a little weird that the bread came in a ziploc bag. It was still incredible fish and Id definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for fried fish in Harlem. Also, the fried shrimp is on point as well.
The fish is great AND THE FOOD but the owner very unprofessional. He should be careful what come out his mouth the neighborhood is looking. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL YOU CAN RUN A BUSINESS BUT YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ZERO VERY INPATIENT AND HE TOTALLY BELLIGERENT. DONT FORGET WHERE YOU COME FROM.
Nice clean place. Great service. The workers there are friendly. The wait for my food was quick and the food was also delicious. I have no complaints. I ordered shrimp & grits for myself and tasted the fish dinner i purchased for my friend. Both meals were perfect. Ill definitely return to this establishment when im craving fried seafood.
I have only tasted the catfish and chips. And each time the catfish was well seasoned and delicious . They give a good portion , enough to split with another person but once you eat it you may want it back.Update : besides the catfish their shrimp is omg!!! Best I’ve ever tasted . The sides are decent . Beware ordering thru Uber eats . The prices are more online than in store .
The fried Whiting is deliciously seasoned with a peppery(not overly...a bit more than a hint), batter. It is freshly made (high turnover) and never oily. The shrimp are xl and seasoned well too. Shrimp and Whiting combo gets you about 5-6 medium sized Whiting along with about 6 of the shrimp all of this for $16. The tartar sauce is even good. It adds to the flavor but never distracts from the flavor of the food. If you ever went to a southern fish fry and enjoyed it-its like that. There is a bit of a wait but you can call in your order too. They have mac and cheese, collards, candied yams. All of the food is very very tasty. The staff is friendly and professional. I wish they would open a spot on the lower east side. We like fried fish too. Lol.
Honestly, I cant think of anything thats really special about MMF, but its one of the best fried fish places in NYC thus far. Thier sides are a little suspect, but thankfully their seafood never disappoints. Oh, and their lemonade is bomb - Just mad sweet. Definitely recommend.
Jut went there last night with my dad. I ordered the chicken and chips. I absolutely loved it! That meal was delicious and it certainly filled me up on the train ride back home. The food took a little while to cook but it was worth the wait. The food there is cooked fresh and the workers there have a positive attitude towards their costumers. So go on and visit the make my fish restaurant in Harlem!
I stop bye and bought 3 different orders and my favorite was the shrimps. They fish and chips was on point. Shrimp and fries last was the all shrimps lawd since I left the store been eating the shrimp while on my journey back home. Thank you Ray Grind for the recommendation it was worth the trip
I went there last Friday (11/1) after many many months of procrastinating. The food was delicious! I ordered catfish and fries and just fish (whiting). We totally enjoyed our meals. Next time I will order mac and cheese and collards! Looking forward to going back, and Im telling all my neighborhood friends as well!
When I pay Uber prices somehow I am expecting the whole experience. But this establishment at times 4gets to send u ALL ur food that u ordered so you have to call and discover that ur order was not read correctly. I was trying the Uber Special of supporting local black merchants. Always a problem here. Sometimes they cheat u outta ur $13.00 shrimp order . You should get 8 sometimes only 6 will make it. But when they are on they are on.
Food is good, but they are slow as hell. How you going to be slow getting the food out during peak dinner hours.......Its been a while since Ive posted the first part of the review. Theyve improved on getting the food out faster and the fish is still good and the customer service is good too. Ill re-post if that changes.
Best Fried Fish in Harlem. The fish is so fresh tasting, the shrimp was perfect in size and so fresh you could taste the sweetness of fresh shell fish. Little or no salt is used in the fry batter, which allows you to taste the fish. Pricing is excellent for the quantity you received.I would recommend this restaurant!!!
My 1st time eating here was today! A few coworkers & I made a big order... and EVERYTHING was great!!!!!! I got the triple play ( catfish, fried shrimp and fried whiting) and a Whiting fish sandwich. For my sides I got potatoe salad, mac & cheese and yams! 1st but wont be my last time ordering! Thx to Mr. Pat & Alex! Your patience & professionalism is greatly appreciated!!
Oh my heavens. This place is unfathomable. The fish is so fresh, so crunchy, so delectable. The batter on the fish n chips is barely there, so it’s not “over battered” where it feels like you’re just eating a chicken nugget, no. This batter is PERFECT.If you “claim” to like food at all? Then you must try Make My Fish atleast once in your life. Otherwise, why are you even here?
The mac and cheese was bland and taste like black pepper, the yams were under cooked and had way to much cinnamon and not enough sugar. I mean the fish was ok, so its not a place Ill be returning. Oh and the guy fishing the fish is on the and cooking at the same time, thats definitely a health code violation.
Literally just got my food from there 20 minutes ago the wait was nothing at all and the food is absolutely to die for I come here from Jersey and everybody was very professional, the restaurant was very clean the only issue that I had was that it’s all cash so other than that it’s not really an issue just a little bit inconvenient ! Fish with fried too perfection and the french fries absolutely perfect!!! If you’re looking for a quick bite thats quality and quantity and not too overly expensive this is your best bet ! THANK ME LATER❤️
I didnt think the ppl handling the food were clean enough around the food. A guy that walked in from outside walked in and hugged a guy. They guy he hugged had on gloves, hugged him back and continued fixing food for the customers without changing the gloves. The guy that came in with his coat on fixed himself 2 side dishes of Mac and cheese and collard greens, wrapped it up and started talking. The guy also was walking funny when asked why he said it was sciatica disc problems. When I did receive my food after about 28 minutes later, I did not like it. It didnt seem to be too seasoned. I ordered shrimp and fish along with clams. I got home and threw the majority of the food in the garbage. I traveled all the way from Queens. I will never go to Make My Fish on 116th again.
The catfish nuggets is to die for literally, I would give them a full 5 stars but when you walk in & you see the young folks (20s-mid) behind the counter preparing the food they always gyp you in the amount that you are supposed to get for the price you spend. When you see the older folks (40s-mid) then you know that you are getting your monies worth. So every time Im around that neighborhood I will take a peek inside to see who is doing the cooking which dictates will I buy or not.
Terrible customer service, I call several times to try to place an order. However, the person that was taking my order was not paying any attention to what I was trying to order. I called three times after that trying to place the order I was placed on hold for a long period of time and forgotten about. However once the young man picked up the phone again .He informed that I should just come in and place my order instead of placing an order for pick up because it wasn’t a big order. Also he stated that it wasn’t busy , this is not how you treat customers that are trying to support your businesses...(SMH)
I love the little place I wasnt sure about how the food, fish would be it can be crowded with people standing around the order line was never soo long its the people waiting for their orders that creates the crowd I thoroughly enjoyed my fish and shrimp order this was my third time there and the fish was pretty good each time
My BFF and I were just talking about needing a fish spot. My daughter told us about Make My Fish on 116st btw 7th & Lenox Ave. I loved the fish and collard greens. My BFF said he definitely enjoyed his dinner too. He had fish, mac & cheese and yams. We will definitely go back for fish and a sample of their cheese grits. I dont eat cheese grits, but honey it was really good. I definitely will be getting some to go with my fish the next time we go back.
I give them 5 stars because the food is ALWAYS on point...amazing customer service but when i call and pre order when i get there its still a wait.. I mean i get it made fresh!! But if i called and im on my way, shouldnt you start my order and not wait until i get there...but other than that i love love love the food
Their food is tasty, my first time ordering through uber eats (catfish and shrimp combo with two side) half of my order (shrimps) was missing I informed them via UE and I was refunded my entired order which I didnt complain about being that I did receive a portion of my meal... But the next time I ordered (bout a month later) I received my complete order with additional order of shrimps i dont know if they remember my order from before or it was because my order was about 15 minutes late either way Im pleased with their service
WARNING. HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. RESTAURANT OPERATING ILLEGALLY WITHOUT PERMITS FROM HEALTH DEPARTMENT. Not surprising considering the building is filthy and the food is disgusting. They dont have a working phone number and only take cash. Interesting, wonder what else they are hiding...

2021-08-17“Make My Fish” has the best tasting seafood in Harlem hands down! I always place my order through Uber Eats & this restaurant never disappoints! Their Whiting & Catfish are fresh, seasoned well & cooked crispy outside but tender inside! How delicious! The Shrimp is lightly breaded & seasoned to a crispy sweet taste! How delightful! They give a ton of French Fries & the Mac n Cheese is excellent as well! If you’re in Harlem, you must visit “Make My Fish”! Don’t miss out!

2021-03-21Ever since my favorite fish restaurant closed, I’ve been searching for a replacement. I’ve heard good reviews about Make My Fish and decided to give it a try. When I arrived to the restaurant it was a bit crowded which I took as a good sign. The staff member taking the orders did so quickly, I waited less than 5 minutes to place my order. The staff member who took my order was very polite and professional. It took me less than 10 minutes to receive my order. I was pleased with the fast service. While waiting on my food I noticed a staff member stepped outside. He then came in and used hand sanitizer than put on gloves and got right back to work. Make sure you have cash on you because the restaurant only accepts cash. There is an ATM in the restaurant as well in case you don’t have cash on you. I ordered the whiting fish dinner with baked macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and candied yams. I appreciated getting actual whiting fish as some places say they have whiting but gives tilapia instead. There were about 7 pieces of fish. The fish was filet in which I love because I don’t have the time or energy to pick through bones. The fish was seasoned with too much black pepper, I’m not a black pepper fan as I think it’s too spicy for me. My mom loves her food with lots of black pepper and she even said it was too much black pepper for her. The yams were bland, too hard and crunchy, they weren’t cooked long enough. The macaroni and cheese had a weird taste to it was very bland. The collard greens the best side out of the three. It was cooked well and had a lot of flavor to them. Out of 5 stars, I would give: the food a 2½, customer service a 5, wait time a 5, overall rating would be a 2 because the wait time and service was pleasant. I was hoping this would become one of my favorite spots after reading all the positive reviews. However, I wouldn’t return to the restaurant but give it a try you make like it.

2022-07-13Uggggg they fell off 🥲. Today the food was sooooooo bland. The cat fish had a little seasoning the whitings had zero seasoning. They serve crinkle dry/ greasy no taste French fries. I’m sooo mad at them. I always praise MMF & tell ppl about this place . Me & my man was so upset about the food. They lost us as a customer and probably more cause we telling everybody.

2020-07-25The spot is very close to Central Park north. Very convenient in this pandemic situation, you can just pick up your order and head to the park to enjoy your meal peacefully with a nice view* I ordered fish&chips and mac&cheese1- The fried fish was good, they have a tasty white sauce, the fries were flaky and not that great.2- I don’t understand all the recommendations about the mac&cheese, I couldn’t even eat a quart of it, too heavy and nothing special about it.

2019-11-03Sunday funday with the hun and had a taste for fish, a coworker recommended this spot as Ive NEVER had catfish until she gave me a piece of hers. So here I am! The catfish was amazing the macaroni and cheese was thick and gooey like i like, the collards were good and the yams sweet. The fried Whiting could be seasoned more, but I fixed it up with garlic pepper. Overall 4 stars I enjoyed the meal very much.
