Love this place and spent a lot of good time there❤️Except latest episode when my toddler had fell down scootering on law speed😢look at this uneven coverage with new grass - its deeper and more dangerous than seems first. Always put his helmet on but he was so scared and got some abrasions and bruises. Both of us didnt expect it.
Undoubtedly better in fairer weather, but still a relaxing destination for a stroll. There is also a playground, basketball courts and picnic tables. The curious feature of this park are its acoustics. You hear the diffusion of sound as at a beach (with the surf’s sound nearby), yet the cobblestones allow for some reverberation, which makes for an intriguingly eery combination.
Looking for a place for good all round leisure and fun activities ? It is here in this popular comprehensive beach location. Childrens play grounds with jungle gyms and swings, ball game courts, ample tables for alfresco dining and of course, necessary restrooms. Perfect for day long family visits or for those citizens who may prefer to just chill out and enjoy the coastal views.
Beach was nice, they have parking. It isnt free but it was very helpful. Life guards were there, it was a nice beach. Went there for the first time during this whole covid situation, the kids had fun. The only reason it is four stars is because the out door showers they have SUCKED. Plain an simple no water pressure feel like we were there for 30mins just trying to take the sand off ourselves 🤷🏾
It was January /01/2019 in the Manhattan Beach I was visiting. I would like coming take look again at spring and following the summer time. Because is so gorgeous beach .Manhattan Beach is a residential neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the south and east, by Sheepshead Bay on the north, and Brighton Beach to the west.
This place is an ethnographers dream. The beach is smaller than most of the other NYC beaches and the water is quite calm as it is sheltered from the open ocean by Breezy Point. This makes it quite popular for families with children. Many spaces for outdoor grilling, large bathrooms and a concession stand are present. Basketball and handball courts are adjacent. Parking in the lot is $20 for cars. Also nearby to many excellent restaurants in Sheepshead Bay.
Gets really crowded. With recent storms, water had more trash than usual. Despite all of the children around, people smoking really skunky marijuana. Some trash on the beach, but not as bad as some beaches in the area. Dont plan on using BBQ or picnic tables unless you get there really early and stake it out.
Life guards were on duty until 7pm this July evening. I appreciated the clean beach. There were restroom houses. Parking and Medic on site. Although not the best weather when I went - it was still a good experience overall. There were cops around for security. It felt good to wade in the water.
The beach is nice and clean and there is a place for kids around, a parking lot and a place to buy food from. The downside is that parking is expensive $22 per day during weekend and if you leave the parking spot, you cant re-enter. The only food place has only a few choices and works very short hours.
Amazing park with new basketball and tennis courts added about a year ago, so very brand new. The kids will definitely find what to do. Theres also a huge field, just be prepared to bring all necessary items with you. Theres two parks, for the second one you can walk down the beach and enjoy the breeze. I might be a bit biased but in my opinion this is a great place to go.
They are working on the communal park area. It had just rained prior to going so the sand was wet. Not many people which was good and peaceful. The water was warm but a lot of algae and belly fish in the water. Dont know if that was the tide or just how it is. Well go back again with better weather and see
Lots of benches, easily accessable restrooms, parking is NOT free be prepared to spend up to $22 for cars on holidays and weekends for parking. Limited food and drink options on site, only one concession stand at the beach. Sand is pretty clean and water is decent and good for kids and not so strong swimmers.
The location has everything you could ask for. Picnic tables, bathrooms, basketball courts, softball field, kids park with swings and a jungle gym in addition to the beach. It is easily accessible by bus. If youre driving parking can be a little tough but that might be the only drawback I can think of.
I totally ENJOY going there I go during the week its not crowded, theres benches if YOU dont want to be in the sand and there are tables for picnicking and grilling. Theres a nice park an basketball courts also, lots of fun but SO calm and ENJOYABLE on those hot n humid days weve had. The best thing is its easily assesable from PUBLIC transportation💜💜💜😍😍😊😊👍👍
By far the best dog park in NY. There are different textures like the k9 grass, real grass and pebbles. I also love that there is a small dog park and an all dog park so you can choose where you are more comfortable. The crowd here is also very pleasant so thats an added bonus.
Summer time very crowded, no air, lot of people do barbeque, smoke everywhere, water in ocean is very dirty, boardwalk is under construction. I am going there starting from middle September to October, this time is not crowded and water is very clean, sweem and enjoy. It is nice dog play groung there, it is splited- little dogs and puppies one side, big dogs another side, take your door there..
It was 3 days ago when I visited, again, this beach. I always love this beach as I have said before, but, that day was different_I saw a huge dog as a beach goer! Much like a Clifford the big red dog except he wasnt red! And, also I saw a Taebo class going on in the beach! And it was already 6pm when I reached there to attend a friends birthday beach party___but, the beach still crowded till at 9:30pm! The time we left.
This beach is really nice especially for a nice weekend. They have a concession stand which I like but you gotta get there before 4pm so plan your trip early unless your bringing your own food. The waves aren’t too crazy and the wind is calm for the most part but this is a nice Brooklyn find for a little get away or to just have some fun with the family. Enjoy 😊!
Its a nice beach area, a little small when you compare it to far Rockaway Beach, Brighton beach or Jacob Riis beach. When you go to Riis beach the park rangers (or whatever you call them 🙄) Like to come and disturb you, talking about No glass bottles bottles (which is fair I guess) then later we couldnt have balloons in our area due to wildlife 🙃. Its a bit uncomfortable. But Manhattan Beach The park rangers dont bother you, if anything theyll update you on something and keep it moving. Manhattan beach is very a comfortable and inviting place to be.
Very small beach with expensive parking, with a food spot, restrooms, and police patrol car non stop. The bbq area was frequented by many mobs of people who were treating it like an outdoor party hall - even on a rainy day. But what can you ask from a beach inside the 5 boroughs?
One of the better beaches in Brooklyn. Brighton and Coney Island can be a bit raunchy because it is so big. But in this pandemic still going on not a bad thing. Manhattan beach is expensive in the weekends as opposed to weekdays for parking, however it is a nice cleaner beach and its a bit more calmer than other beaches in NYC.
I don’t wanna say too many good things about this beach because I wanted to stay the nice peaceful quiet place that I enjoy my Sunday with my family clean restrooms great concession stands with variety of food and sufficient parking beach was clean the water was just enough
There is one thing I really liked about the beach. When its low tide you can walk way way out in the water with your feet touching the ground and your head is still above the water. But otherwise it was a bad experience. The water is very dirty I kept finding bottles and various junk either floating or below. I kept hitting my knees large stones in the water you couldnt see. The beach was way overpacked. The bathrooms are incredibly disgusting and there is no place to change after. Will probably never go again.
This beach is the bougie version of Brighton and Coney Island! 😉Its quiet, the Life Guards are visible on their posts. The public restroom is just standard smelly not filthy. Its stocked with Sunblock dispensers?! The Barbecue Area has enough benches well spaced for various family or friend groups to enjoy separately. The crowd is racially and religiously mixed. Feels low-key New York!
Ive only gone during the week, so it was not very crowded. But it was small, clean, and has a beautiful view. There are picnic tables and a large childrens playground. Also, be sure to walk around the neighborhood and check out some truly amazing architecture, you wont feel like youre in the city.
It wasnt too full. Plenty of parking (a bit steep at $22 on the weekends for non commercial vehicles). The beach was not packed like Jones Beach in Long Island. The beach was a lot calmer but I didnt go in. The crowd didnt seem too rowdy which is a plus. The park with a fountain was cool if you dont want to dip into the beach.
Have been coming here for years. The beach is small so it gets crowded during the summer weekends. Best time is on weekday mornings. No shade on the sand, but there are picnic tables available near the playground. Street parking is possible if you get there early enough otherwise youll have to park at the lot. But I love that beach.
This is a better place then the annoyingly touristy Coney Island. There is a nice BBQ area. You could take MTA bus to this area, or use Uber or taxi from the sheepshead bay B or D station. Parking is either too experience, or non-existent on the street between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
One of the best places to watch sunset in Brooklyn. But... Absolutely would not go there for a swim, its like a bay, so all garbage accumulates there. Also, a VERY limited parking during summer season as there is residents parking only in a neighborhood during summer season and paid Beach parking is small. Also, very crowded in a summer. What adds to it is that it has tables for BBQ and picnics. Of season is another story, quite and beautiful, great for walk, run and just be there.
A safe and serene beach experience without the hustle and bustle of Coney Island or Brighton Beach. Spotless restrooms, shade covered benches, open air bbq areas and plenty of playgrounds and sports courts for the entire family. My only complaints are the limited parking and food concession options.
Been going to Manhattan Beach seen I was a baby for over thirty years now. I see the changes over the years some of them good some bad. As soon as you park your car and walk in theres tables, spaced out with trees that can give some shade. But towards one side, New trees are growing. They are currently small and doesnt give any shade at all. So to get the tables with the shade have to be there super early since there isnt many. You are allowed to grill in this area and its awesome for any occasion. The walk from the sidewalk to the water isnt bad at all. Love the sidewalk. Its simple but still nice to walk, kids bike ride, scooter, and some people go for a run. Viewing the water at the far left theres a nice end that people usually fish. As a kid my dad use to come super early to go fishing there. Not sure if thats still allowed. In recent years feel theres too many things in the water. But this has to do with the people that dont clean up after themselves. Theres plenty trash cans there so their shouldnt be any excuse. Another rule they added they dont let you have any water tubs or beach balls at the water. The bathroom (well womans, since never been to men) are kept in great shape. Theres always someone there being attentive, filling the toilet paper, soap etc. Currently is important to wear a mask when going in and theres usually a stand outside that provides mask. Growing up as a child I remeber the showers being right outside the bathroom wall. Now they only have one by the tables, more need to be added at least. The food servings size have gone down as the prices gone up at the food stand. As a child remember getting huge pieces of chicken, fresh nice and krispy with a huge cup full of fries for 6 dollars. Now its like 10 and theres only chicken tenders, very small pieces with a tiny cup with fries. I know times have changed but surely miss the chicken. The ices are good, they have plenty of flavors and they serve a lot in a cup that the little kids can share. The ice cream is vanilla or chocolate but plenty of toppings. Recently they never have chocolate so I stopped going over all. Theres also a park towards the left side of the parking lot. Right outside the park theres more tables and trees for shade. I still love this beach the way it is small and workers maintain clean as possible.
Manhattan Beach is clean and well kept. The waves and water itself were not a rough as Rockaway beach or Riis park. Obviously the water got rougher as tide came in around 6pm. There is good sidewalk type boardwalk and picnic area right near an adequate parking lot. You do have to pay to park and its cash only (7 dollars).
It would have been a nice day if the place doesnt lock your car in the whole day. They charge you 22 dollars CASH ONLY on weekends for parking and they dont give you a receipt. When I spoke to the security they said its the rule and if I leave and come back I pay again. You can stay on the beach until 9:30 but you gotta move your car from parking lot before 8 !!!!!!!!Id recommend paying a 12 dollar toll and go 30 minutes drive to a free park and beach in staten island.
Parking near east end of beach. $7 weekday and $22 weekends and holidays. Bay like beach made water warm (air temperature was 93). Good for kids as you can walk out 50 yds in beach and just reaches 4ft tall water. We parked on Oriental and Exeter for free. They have a concession too
Manhattan Beach wasnt Crowded, I guess its because of the day of the week we went. I didnt go into the water, my husband and daughter went in and they raved that the water was really warm. Very clean and social distancing was good. I will go back, but only during the week.
The water has too much algae its hard to enjoy because every second the algae is brushing against your legs, in between your toes and getting in your hairVery small beach and its over crowded, kids getting lost every 10 minutes and lifeguards were nonchalant. Paid for the parking but not worth the $22 weekend charge
Very clean family friendly park/ beach. It a beautiful location for cook outs, beach lounging, parties and good ol park fun. I really enjoyed my trip here and intend to return to fulfill some of my photography ambitions as this is a great location for that as well. The park does close at dusk though, and is enforced by patrolling officers. So plan daytime activities here and enjoy.
Great place to come in the summer or Winter, parking is a little bit difficult in summertime. Usually a lot less crowded than Brighton beach and cleaner. Also more activity there is barbecuing, playgrounds, yoga on the beach, and handball court only problem is the beach is not very big ,and the picnic tables get taken up early.
I like this place because everything is within walking distance and it is well maintained. The only down fall is the high parking fee and since it is small it get crowded fast. Also the concession stand is hardly ever open. They have the sunscreen dispenser in the bathroom which are always open and get pretty crowded too.
The couple times Ive been at this particular Beach it is relatively clean and a Hideaway Beach away from Coney Island and Brighton Beach. I definitely would recommend this beach for the locals and some visitors of Brooklyn, depending on where youre at. I would consider taking the bus rather than taking a car because the parking lots are almost always either crowded or closed. Still recommend.
Beach was clean and not too crowded. Go early in the morning if you wanna avoid the crowd. Had a great time. Only pitfall was that the concession stand was closed at that time of day lol. They claim to open at around 11 but was still closed at that time so had to leave to get food.
Great park, especially for BBQ. Bring your own food, coal and barbeque grill. pick a table earlier in the day, and fire it up! Ask the neighboring barbequers for anything that you might be missing. Bring towels and swimsuits for a nice swim in the ocean. Park rangers will always make sure you have a safe time. Special thanks to them! Had an awesome time there. 10/10
This park is the worst. Its incredibly dirty, with sand thats rocky and uncomfortable. The concession stand is terribly overpriced, and the trash cans seem to never be cleaned out. The water is gross, and the temperature is never comfortable.(Thats what we should tell people, any way. This little beach is the hidden gem of South Brooklyn. I love it. 5/5)
I have been playing basketball here for almost 40 years. The courts were long overdue for a makeover. They did it and it looks great. Nets and glass boards. Though I can do without the double rims. The competition is usually kids after school during the week. The weekends are a nice group of regulars ranging in a broad spectrum of people old and young.
Had a nice time with kids.the beach was clean .not crowded at all and people there were distant from one another.even tho no life guards were on duty the police were there making sure all were safe .kids were able to at least go down by the water and get their feet wet.
Besides the littering on the beach and a bit on the water, its a nice place to go to. They also have a basketball court, baseball field and even a playground for the kids. It does tend to get crowded on holidays so the police makes people left at a certain time but its still a great beach. I go there for the 4th of july for 2 years now
Nice beach. Diverse crowd. Theres alot to do. Theres a kids playground, basketball court, baseball field, parking (with fee), and an area to barbecue. There is a small shop to buy food and beverage however its cash only. Bus stops right in front. Find parking on the street is very hard.
I had visited this place more than 1000 times I guess.Always feels great .On a good Sunny day or when it’s raining .Playing in snow on the beach with my baby ...love it .I just go there to relax my mind while watching the horizon .One of my favorite places in New York City .Great playgrounds for kids .And the contingent of people is pleasant as well .It gets two crowded on the summer, but it’s ok .Everyone wants a part of the beach and sun .
This place was nice but people have to work on not putting trash in the water and to not have animals alive or dead in the water .Also add more showers around. Not to mention the girls bathroom is pretty far but overall the experience is nice and the people are very kind as well.
The beach is relatively small and they keep it mostly clean. Even during high tide, the ocean shelf goes out rather far so an adult, average height of 5 6 can walk out there for quite a considerable distance and the water will be at your waistline / stomach. The beach has lifeguards posted until about 6pm. Not many local stores so bring your own food and drinks
Its ok, $7 for parking, plenty of it.Bring your own BBQ and enjoy a nice family day out. The sitting and eating area is a bit of distance from the sea, so if you fancy a dip ensure someone looks after your stuff whilst you swim. We had a good day, 10 of us, BBQ Shrimp, Lamb and chicken, salad, lavash and cold Modelo.
This park (beach) is actually very nice. The picnic area is sizeable, plenty of tables and available trash cans. The beach itself was impressive and the water was not bad for Bay water, that is. Definitely worth a trip!!! Stay away from the concession stands, super expensive.
If youve seen my previous reviews, you know I have a thing for beaches. I paid Manhattan Beach Park a visit without much planning. Theres not much to do in the area but of course if youre looking for a sort of scenic location, it wouldnt hurt to pay this location a visit!
Its a nice park but the city really needs to inspect it and spray it down. This summer gave us a whole bunch of kids who got ticks playing in the grass.. for parent who dont know how if your kids God forbid get a tick dont try to forcefully remove it. Either seek medical help or fill a bottle cap with olive oil or any oil really and press it to the affected area so the tick is submerged and wait for it to pull itself out (better to use something clear). When its out take your child to the hospital along with the tick for it to be tested (dont discard it).

2022-07-02A true gem right here in Brooklyn. Great for families! There is a playground with sprinklers, basketball court, tennis court, and a lovely little boardwalk to stay out of the sand. This is an accessible beach to a point.**Lifeguards on site from 10am to 6pm daily.**Designated BBQ area with benches accessible by the parking lot. Get there early for the best spot. There is also a cafe to purchase food and drinks if needed.Paid parking facilities, $8 weekdays and $22 weekend and holidays. Parking lot closes at 8pm. Street parking is not allowed from May to September (cannot remember the exact dates.)Restrooms are available and are kept very clean. Outside showers are also available to get the sand off (these get pretty busy.)Manhattan Beach 🏖️ is definitely our preferred location. Please enjoy the facilities and remember to use trash cans or take your trash.Happy Summer!!🌞🌞

2021-08-06Beautiful scenery, water still ice cold despite being beginning of August. Lots of new tables added, so bring your own BBQ set. They took out the ones the park provided. All in all, crystal clear water and well- kept. A must for every summer.

2021-09-19It is pretty, small, secluded coves, lifeguards, food and ice cream, bathrooms, showers, picnic tables under shade trees, a playground with sprinklers, and a parking lot during the season. The beach is also accessible off season and is beautiful. There is a wonderful Russian restaurant across the street called Hot Potato for crepes, perogies and borscht to take out.

2021-05-23Wonderful place! The atmosphere was so calming and the water, so serene. The park leading up to the beach was very clean. There were benches that enabled me to watch the waves from a distance, without getting sandy. But don’t fret if you do! There are water sprinkler that you can shower your feet/ hands off. It was lovely to eat an açaí bowl with a book in hand, while taking in the pleasant ocean sounds. Definitely will be back!

2022-05-31Clean picnic area & tables!!! My family & friends had a barbaque for Memorial Day & a celebration of life for my, son who recently passed away. Great place to have a family reunion or other celebration. Parking lot very close by & good security!!!

2022-06-28The beach is nice enough. However, between may 15th and Sept 15 the rich owners in this neighborhood have managed to close down all streets surrounding the beach. The streets are completely empty of cars. Hundreds of parking spaces inaccessible. There is a parking lot but it costs $22 in the weekends and on holidays to park there. Its repulsive.

2021-07-07Awesome spot! Nice and clean all the people were chill and courteousness. Great picnic areas. 8 bucks for secure parking during the week (I heard prices go north on weekends but not sure).
