We can’t resist bbq places, so we stopped here driving through Riverhead. The place is nice, there is a huge menu on the wall so you need to order the food and then go to your table where staff will bring your food. The menu is really interesting and prices are good. We ordered a pulled pork platter with potatoes salad and smoked beans, and a cheese sandwich with mac and cheese. Everything was good, the pulled pork could be better honestly. There are tables inside and outside, we sat outside under a tree and we really enjoyed our meal
BEWARE! ate here Sunday night, My family and I now have food poisoning. We had the pulled pork. All three of us are so sick. Im so disappointed we liked eating here. After talking to the owner, he handled the situation, responsible, honest and so caring. I really hope it wasnt the food. And I will come back and try it again when Im ready Thank you!
This place used to be good, but this past time was not great. Ordered the SW Turkey sandwich and asked if they could make a BLT sandwich, which I was told yes, they could. The turkey was ok, Ive had better there before, the turkey was kinda dry. The BLT was ridiculous. A mound of chopped lettuce, no mayo, 4 pieces of bacon across the whole sandwich, then cut in half. Very sad sandwich for $14. When I asked for mayo, another cashier said sorry they [the kitchen staff] are Spanish, they dont know how to make a BLT. I didnt argue anymore or ask for money back because they already had another customer that came in twice to complain about stuff. Guess its ok as long as you dont order something thats not on the menu, but we wont be back.
Their sauces were amazing. Right amount of spice and I love spicy food. The brisket was tender as I liked. Bread pudding was on the dry side, but I prefer moist like a tres leches cake, it was still super flavorful and sweet. Mac n cheese was just right. Coleslaw was just ok.Cornbread isnt my fav to begin with so not a fan and it was dry. The sides were yummy. Some of the better BBQ Ive had in remote areas around the country. Would return and recommend.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I went in one night to get pork sliders and brisket chili and I just ended up walking out before I ordered because I heard the boss being very nasty to his workers and the poor girl was on the verge of crying. Im sorry but I can’t give you my money no matter how good your food is if the workers are being treated like slaves. I work in food service myself and if my boss ever spoke to me the way this man did I would simply walk out and never show up again.
Great cozy little place! The food was delicious and the outdoor seating during quarantine was quite nice. I wish they served buckets of that bbq!! It was sooo good. I had the brisket & the Cuban sandwich. Can’t wait to return for some more great food. Also definitely recommend the bourbon lemonade.
As they say on the little rascals....YUM YUM EAT EM UP Ive decided to try the Maple Tree Smokehouse after getting an email yesterday from Newsday about the top smokehouse on Long Island..... boy I am glad I did!!!I came with my wife and daughter for our first experience, which was awesome!!!The place is small and casual. Their menu is on the chalkboard and is extensive including ribs, chicken, brisket sides etc.We ordered 2 southwest salads with chipotle dressing with a side of pulled pork and pulled chicken. The ladies enjoyed them fully. I had the half rack of ribs which were nice and large and fell off the bone. Their smokey flavor was amazing with their dry rub.We also ordered medium stuffed of baked beans and mac n cheese. Both were delicious and enough to share between the 3 of us.The total came to around $63 which included 2 craft beers, and was worth it!I highly recommend Maple Tree.Gwendolen and her counterpart (Im sorry I did not get your name) were some!
We had gone to Tanger & didnt want fast food, so we tried thisglad we did, all freshly made, in house {&anyplace where the police or firemen eat is usually ok)had a cubano w coleslaw & BBQ pork ribs (St Louis) w cole slaw & potato salad, with a bottle of soda made a good luncheat in or take out they do both, place gets noisy when busy, nice people, good food & service
Stopped in yesterday to try the pulled pork tacos. Maybe they were having an off day...the tacos were presented great, but they had no sauce offering nor did the waitperson offer any. My Jalapeño margarita was great, but it came out with the meal — it would have been great to sip while waiting. We ate outside. My husband’s sandwich came out with the wrong side...just an off day all around. We came on the recommendation of a friend. We will try again...maybe it’s just COVID that is causing a lack of attention.
I can only speak for take out menu, although I would love to dine in once they fully open. I got the Carolina pulled pork and the burnt ends. The burnt ends were amazing. The pulled pork was good, but a little light on vinegar for a true Carolina taste. Tremendous portion sizes for the price. Mac and cheese was great, as well as the cornbread, but we felt the beans were a little lackluster. Cocktails were good too and made fresh upon pickup.
Absolutely Loved maple tree. The prices and portions are fair, the people are extremely friendly, but what got it 5 stars was the food. I cannot say enough about the food. Highly recommend to anyone in riverhead, especially after a day at the aquarium as it’s about a 5 minutes drive. Brisket was a+, and recommend getting a piece of cornbread as wellRestroom was clean & seating is wheelchair accessible. Looked like outdoor seating was available. There’s parking across the street but you can also park just in front of the building on the street itself
Nice little mom and pop place. Food was good and not over seasoned. Food comes out fast. While we were there they must have been having a meeting. One of the ladies was so attentive. She noticed all that was going on while in the meeting. Noticed my table and another needed wet naps, and when our drinks were low. Ill be back to try some more food.
We just LOVE this place. The food is great. So fresh, so juicy and the portions are a good size for sharing. The sauces they have are delicious add-ons. The people are so friendly. We recently moved away from the area and still make it a point to go back when we are in town.
Friendly staff at a nicely deisigned and comfortable place. My Dad really liked the ribs and I enjoyed the Salmon. The herb roasted potatoes was a real standout. The owner Dennis and really helpful and is very nice There is a nice large outdoor seating area in the back and accross the street by the river.
Came here on a weeknight for some BBQ. It started off a little rough at 6:00pm they were out of, or did not prepare, several items listed on the menu. (Two of which I was interested in)I had the brisket and pork shoulder and both were good. The sides were good to though all portion sizes were very controlled.Their Bourbon drink special may have been my favorite item of the evening! For the food portions v. the price, there is better out there but the food truely wasnt bad at all and I would consider going back.
Food is always good. Hard to find good smoked bbq and this place has got it. Not your typical setup for dining it but it works well. Order at the counter and then they bring you the food to the table of your choice. Nice outdoor seating area behind the building. Lines can get long on the weekends but its worth it and food came out not long after ordering.
If you fail to notice on their website whether they are open, the website will nevertheless except your takeout order and process the payment. Assuming that your order has been placed, you go to pick up only to find out that they are closed. Poorly designed website allowing ordering when they are not open. Should be red flagged or some other software alert feature.
My family and I asked Maple Tree to cater a Memorial Party for my dad and every single guest was RAVING about the food. Our gluten free guests were excited about the sheer amount of options they had. All of the kids chowed down on the sides. With such a large number of people, I was pleasantly surprised that all were happy! Dennis was wonderful to work with, food was delivered on time and without anything missing. Hosting a large gathering can be stressful but working with Maple Tree was literally a breeze!! I cannot recommend them highly enough!!
I recently went to this place with my boyfriend. My boyfriend and I were very impressed with the food we got. The two sandwiches we ordered were out of this world! The decor is very cute and very country style and homie! We rate it 10/10! We will be coming again very soon! Thanks!
I loved the look of the place, very cozy and casual. Big selection but overall the food wasnt that great. The mac and cheese is a bit watery, cornbread very dry, coleslaw was bland and the ribs were very overcooked. Overall I wish I liked it more because I loved so much of everything else, the food just wasnt there for me. Id go in there for a sandwich maybe but if Im in the mood for BBQ I would consider a different spot
Here now! Skipppp it!!!!! Baked beans uncooked, sweet potatoes uncooked, brisket all fat, burnt ends burnt to a crisp. Supposed to be amazing, I am not sure what these people are eating! Expensive and not worth the price! Several other places on Long Island that are better for bbq!
Went there with my hubby on his birthday and we ordered family meal #4 and the food did not disappoint. The ribs were falling off the bones and it was juicy and tender, the chicken wings are nice too! It came with 2 big sides plus corn bread and brownie bites...oh the brownies were heavenly! We went with 3 young children and they were attentive and checked on us even though we were sitting at the outdoor dining area after the food came. This is our first and surely we will be back for more with a friend or two next time.
1st time there , service was none , register person takes orders and suggests nothing . Received food quickly , food was good would of been better if it had barbecue sauce, register person didnt inform us either way. So service needs to be better with more communication . Then I think a 1st time visit could be better.
1 star for friendliness, clean bathroom and convenient location after a North Fork day trip1 star for food:Burnt ends: BBQ sauce tasted like a cross between ketchup and tomato sauce. On top of that, I selected the spicy version - which was decidedly unspicy. Meat was cooked fine, but the sauce problems ruined the meal.Pulled pork sandwich: literally unsauced meat on sourdough slices - no sauce, no nothing elseSmoked beans side: super sweet, not smoky. Couldnt eat.kallards: kale cooked with pork. Not great, but not bad.Bread pudding: delicious! And the source of the single star.Maybe it was an off day. Other people on Yelp seemed to like the place, which is why we chose it. Unfortunately, we found the barbecue inedible (for one in our party) and deeply unsatisfying for the rest of us.
This review is for a takeout order on 6/6/20Overall, this whole experience left much to be desired. The food was incredibly bland; the order took over 35 minutes to receive (after being told it would take 15 minutes), and the owner(?) was yelling at employees in front of all of the customers for accidentally sending out the wrong DoorDash order. As for specifics, here we go...FOOD: We ordered the Tar Heel Sandwich, Pulled Pork Platter with baked beans and corn bread, and Brisket platter with mac & cheese and potato salad. Like I said before, all of the food was incredibly bland. Both the brisket and the pork lacked any sort of smokey flavor - in fact, they tasted like they were made in a crockpot. We thought maybe adding some sweet or “Alabama” sauce would help, but those were both very runny and lacking any sort of distinguished flavor. The sides were all basic - not bad, but nothing stood out.SERVICE: We ordered at 6:25pm and didn’t walk out with our food until after 7pm...and that was *after* I asked for them to check in on my order to figure out what was taking so long. Add to it that several of the employees were arguing and bickering with each other about who was at fault. And to top it off, the owner was chewing out his staff with no regard for who was around. To be honest, I cannot believe this place is rated as highly as it is. I would never go back nor would I recommend it.
This place was amazing! I am from the south and they picked the greatest hits of BBQ varieties for their menu and did them all well. I tried the Alabama and Texas style (which were great) and settled on the pastrami as a favorite. The service was fast and friendly too.
This is the best BBQ on Long Island. No contest. You’ll know I’m not kidding when you walk in the door and get a whiff of what’s cooking. The aesthetics is spot on, the employees are pleasant and kind, and the meat is insane. I’m a big fan of their Cuban, but you really can’t make a bad choice.
Nice place, but the BBQ is lackluster. Maybe it is good for Long Island BBQ, but as someone who makes their own, I wont be back. My biggest complaint is that there is just not enough smoke. I got the Texan brisket sandwich and smoked baked beans. You really have to struggle to taste the smoke in the brisket, and in the beans it wasnt existent. It was a good sandwich but not a good BBQ sandwich. When you have to drown everything in sauce, its just not worth it.
The presentation of this restaurant looks very nice and the whole thing is super clean, including the cleanest restaurant bathroom i have ever seen. The staff were very friendly and best of all, the food was absolutely delicious. I go here every time i am in riverhead, and will continue to do so!
Pleasantly surprised! I had gone to eat there years ago when it was under different ownership and was just a deli. I walked in to promptly walk right out it had been a ver gross dirty deli. But now you cant even recognize the place. Its been completely gutted and looks great! Good food and an outdoor seating area as well.
Always Great BBQ here. Had the Bama sandwich with baked beans and cole slaw. Slaw was a little boring tonight but everything else was spot on. 16 oz Coke was a little pricey at $2.50 + tax but it is what it is.Happy to eat inside and staff is really personable and conversant.
This little nugget on 25 is a hidden gem. It is cozy and excellent, unique food, with a great atmosphere. Great place with delicious food, and a nice place to just hang with a friend or a few, they even have a small bar. Highly recommend instead of the endless fast food restaurants in the area, but not as overdone like the cookie cutter franchise restaurants. You will really enjoy eating here, they are friendly and bend over backwards to serve you and make you happy and comfortable. We are definitely repeat customers whenever we come to Riverhead.
Such good BBQ food and friendly staff! You dont expect the inside to be so nice. You order at the register and they bring the food to your table. Lots of great BBQ choices. I have tried something different on all three visits and was fully satisfied with each choice. I am a huge fan of the Texan sandwich.
The atmosphere and people who work there are amazing!!!! The food exceeded my expectations! We ordered full rack of ribs and the brisket burnt ends with sides. Everything was amazing. Our first time there but definitely not our last!!! If youre looking for great BBQ this is the place to go.
After playing some cousin paintball we decided to come to maple tree bbq to have some grub. And man I tell u it hit the spot n needed a nap after. Food was great. I had the cuabano sandwich n hit the spot. Staff was friendly n great service also. Definitely will come back if im ever in the area again.
One of my favorite BBQ spots on Long Island. It has become a tradition for my friends and I to stop here and grab lunch when out in Calverton area. Its a bit small in terms of seating but not bad and there is plenty of parking spaces across the street. The food here is phenomenal with all their meats being smoked out back. The owner and the staff are very friendly and nice. I always get the Tar Heel sandwich which is the pulled pork and a side of mac n cheese. Everyone I bring here loves it and they usually bring their friends and family. No one ever complained when I recommended this restaurant to them.
Food is AMAZING. Had Dennis go over options with me. He was Excellent, informative & even delivered the food with everything you need from paper plates & utensils to different BBQ flavors in bottles all the way to selden from riverhead 😃. The Pulled pork, Mac & cheese, ribs & chicken wings were off the Hook!!! Highly recommended. Will tell all my friends and Family. Was such a hit at our 4th of July get together. Thank you Dennis & company.
Nice fine after day of shopping. Good food at reasonable prices. Get there early. Limited seating and line builds fast. Had the brisket and pulled pork. Family also had the mac & cheese. All had nice flavors and smoke. Would go back next time were out that way. Great addition to the Riverhead community. Would love to see them expand but keeping the food quality!
Was here pre-covid. Great food, service, atmosphere. Took a drive by after reopenings, and yes, they were open! STILL, GREAT FOOD, SERVICE, ATMOSPHERE.Wear your masks in, order, take a seat, (safe distance marked seating)your food will be served, take off your mask and enjoy your meal! Food is outstanding. Love the North Carolina pork sliders! Pics next time! Will be back.
Edit: We went back yesterday to try their all you can eat Fridays and as good as it sounds on paper, it was NOT the best deal.. it’s $26 PER PERSON and I even think the workers were kind of confused how it works as I didn’t get more for my order, but my boyfriend was brought his seconds (it was hard to keep track of I get it). A better deal would be 2 for $40 all you can eat and share the 4 sides as you’ll get more than enough to fill you up without eating them out of all their food. I ended up paying almost $70 for 2 all you can eat and we probably ate about $30 worth..However this IS THE Best BBQ!! Will definitely be making the hour drive out again for more, Cuban was awesome and The ribs are the best ribs you’ll ever have! Finally found the BBQ we’ve been looking for.
I havent been here in a few years and wow!! What an improvement!!! Super cute and clean!!I had sangria, brisket, Korean wings with House made ranch!! Yum!! and herb potatoes.I love the taste of all the fresh garden herbs. The brisket was delicious!!It was like a slice of Texas in NY!!
We saw great reviews and decided to try it out early on a Sunday. Not only is the food GREAT but the woman who helped us was the BEST. She was cashier, waitress, cleaned our tables, and anticipated our needs for water/ refills. She checked up on us and overall the whole experience was warm inviting and delicious. My wife and I live near Patchogue but we will be making special trips for this place in the future.
We stopped here for lunch on our way out to Montauk after reading good reviews. It did not disappoint. The brisket was very tender and juicy. The rib meat fell off the bone. The sweet wings were good but nothing special. The menu had gluten-free options. The silverware provided were biodegradable.Overall, the food was very delicious and definitely worth a stop if youre driving from NYC to Montauk. Our only disappointment was not getting more brisket!
Nice staff and the food is delicious!!!! Me and my parents were searching for something to eat before going to tanger outlets and this popped up. When we arrived my dad didn’t like too much because it was probably a house before but after we tried the food I was so happy that I convinced him to stay. The meat is incredible and the side dishes are to die for. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap yet delicious option.
Nice little BBQ place in Riverhead. I had the 3 ribs with 2 sides lunch special. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious, as was the not too spicy sauce I put on them. For sides, I had the herb roasted potatoes, which were some of the best Ive had, and mac & cheese, which was creamy and yummy. I washed it all down with a New Belgium Fat Tire Ale on tap, a welcome plus to a great lunch. Ill be back for more!
Love this place, it has the best fresh barbeque that they smoke and cook right in the back! Amazing array of sauces, a full list of gluten free options, friendly service and a cute American style interior. I am willing to drive over 45 minutes just to get it, thats how amazing it is.
Not the worst, but far from great. I was so excited by the thought of freshly smoked meats and the inviting ambiance.. however, my chicken somehow managed to be both wet and dry.. with no taste. Corn bread cold and bland. Also pretty expensive for the amount of food you get.
This was an amazing find! I have never had beef brisket as tender and juicy as maple tree BBQ. Good BBQ is hard to find, especially on long Island. This place puts some places in the south to shame. The pastrami was out of this world. If it wasnt so far for me, I would be a regular. Dreaming about it still... Ill be back soon.
Hands down the best bbq food! The ribs and brisket are incredible, melt in your mouth fall off the bone great quality meat. We catered our sons 1st bday from Maple Tree and it was a wonderful experience. We’ve been back many times for lunch or dinner and there will be many more visits in our future. The staff is great, especially the owner. Amazing hospitality and the food is EXCELLENT! 5 stars all around!
I have taken my son and his friend and now my wife and my other son and each time I order something different. I cant tell you how worth while going to this place is. I love it. After lunch there yesterday I decided to order their St. Louis Ribs and take them home for the rest of my family for dinner and we had a rack and a 1/2 and there was not one left 4 people. They all loved it. Said it was better than having gone out to eat Sunday evening. I think says it all. Please Keep on smoking guys we will be back.
One of the best and reasonable price BBQ in LI. The best ones are usually in the middle of the road or youll just missed it. Their smoke wings are just amazing. Also afterward or beforehand just around the corner is Long Ireland Brewery, another great stop w/ a scrumptious pumpkin beer.
I thought it was okay not the best but my wife and daughter did not like it at all. No flavor on the sides like cole slaw and smash potatoes. Pulled pork was a bit on the fatty side as well as the ribs. I like it a bit fatty though. I would go back for a bbq fix but probably by myself. Oh yes small portions so you may need to order more if you like to eat. Staff isnt friendly either. Not very organized.
Really really good food. Like most great bbq places, you feel at home here. Its like eating at a good friends house. They have 3 very different sauces that they make. All are very good alone but mix them on the oak smoked brisket and it is amazing. Instead of trying to be a big Texas style place they focus on more local flavors. Perfect bbq for the region.
They had me at the smell of smoking meat! The best smoked meats I have ever had. Took some take out of the pastrami, smoked wings, ribs and a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and cheddar. All had great flavor- ribs were fall off the bone and pastrami was tasty and not dry. Also had the mac and cheese and potato salad sides which perfectly complimented the meal. The look of the dining room was cute, clean and welcoming while the service was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will be back!
For those who appreciate the art of smoking meat and BBQ. We had the pulled pork, Texas brisket, ribs and smoked wings. Everything was excellent and the staff was very friendly. Not to mention the home-made cole slaw and corn bread. If you are looking for a relaxed place to eat or take out quality BBQ, you have to check out the Maple Tree.
You would never know that this small 30 seater restaurant puts out some very good backyard style BBQ. Came by with the family on an early Saturday evening after a day shopping down the road and sampled some very tasty pulled pork and pastrami. The sides could use some remaining as they were mostly bland. But the star here truly is the meat.
For a barbecue food establishment, the food lacked barbecue flavor. The chicken sandwich I had was tasteless, dry, and the watery horseradish sauce didnt make getting it down any easier. Usually food out has to much salt but the baked beans needed it desperately. Having to eating out of paper bowls gave an amusement park feel. The ordering process was long and menu confusing.
I ordered the North Carolina pulled pork and mac and I waited maybe 6-9 minutes for my food and it came out smelling great and hot. Not only was the food delicious the staff were really friendly and inviting. I would 100% recomand this to any one who asks where to eat in riverhead. Cheers
Some good point and bad points, I will try to be concise as I review my visit to this place. I come from a place with a Dinosaur BBQ around the corner so I am spoiled. We arrived on a Friday around lunchtime, it was completely empty. Not necessarily bad but not a great sign.We placed our orders and I ordered the Texas Brisket platter with mac n cheese and kallards. I also ordered a jalapeno margarita and an ice water. My friend ordered brisket with burnt ends, mac n cheese and beans, and a beer. Our food came out very promptly. However as the food was set down I was told there were no more kallards and I could choose something else. Usually when something is 86d you are told at the point of order, not delivery. I chose the coleslaw.Upon viewing, everything looked wonderful. Brisket was perfectly cooked, if under seasoned, with a very small ring of smoke. Could probably have gone longer on the smoker but its up to the pitmaster. Mac n cheese was basic, creamy, and nicely done. A pop of mustard powder and some black pepper would have done wonders for it. The coleslaw was very mediocre. It was shredded cabbage, with a creamy dressing, it had little zing or flavor profile. My friend could not finish his beans. I tried them, and found out why. The beans were undercooked and the sauce had little flavor. The smoky flavor of pork butt or bacon was absent. No sausage, and hard beans. Even the two sauces couldnt save them.Speaking of which, both sauces are not that great. Not bad but Ive had better. My ice water never came. I went up to the counter to re-order, and was ignored by staff. So I took a bottle from the cooler. The margarita was perfect, the decor is charming, and the meat and other ingredients are of excellent quality. There needs to be more flavor in my opinion. In the food and demeanor of the staff. I got the impression that the employees were very new. This is fine but they do make an impression of inexperience front of house. Next time I go I will take pictures and hopefully get some of those kallards
This was my first time here and I will not be going back. I had read such great reviews maybe I just went at a bad time of the day. Went for dinner. They were all out of brisket, plus all out of sides like mac and cheese, smashed potatoes and the sweet potatoes. Nonetheless we decided to give it a try anyway. The sandwiches were ok but chicken was bland. The dressing for the salad was weird and tasteless. Disappointing.
Family vacation Friday night dinner, 24 people, Maple Tree BBQ exceeded our expectations! Ribs, pulled pork, smoked wings, pastrami for home made reubens, mac and cheese, coleslaw, potato salad. Everything was prepared and packed professionally and right on time! The food was awesone!! Thank you Dennis and team! Great job!! Highly recommend for your special family BBQ meal!!
Ive come here from time to time over the last couple of years and have always been satisfied, but today was the last time. Not only have the prices gone through the roof ($9 for soup) but the quality and taste were horrible. Both the clam chowder and shrimp chowder were so terrible we threw them out after only a few spoon fulls. Save yourself time and money and try someplace else. For that matter anything else!!
Found this place on my way back from Taner it was amazing! My boyfriend and I ordered the Alabama quesadilla, pastrami, Tessa brisket, Mac and cheese, and the waitress gave us a small sample of their sweet potato fries, herb crushed potatoes, and smoked baked beans. Everything was amazing!!! The service was sooo nice and kind! They were closing but didnt rush us and told us not to worry about the time when will we were eating! I would definitely go back and would recommend this place!
The food was amazing. Service was friendly. I had the combo platter with brisket and pastrami with a side of mac and cheese and herb crushed potatoes. I added a portion of st louis ribs also. I had a pint of captain lawrence kolsh on tap. The meat was seasoned perfectly and was not overly salty. The sides were just what it sounds like. Mac and cheesw was creamy and velvty smooth with classic elbow macaroni. The crushed potatoes balanced well with the meat. Will return for sure!Only downside I could see though no fault of the restaurant; parking is across the street and crossing the street can be hectic at times because of traffic.
Im a recent transplant from NC, and this place blows our old local joint out of the water. Lots of Gluten-Free options for a barbecue place (all of their meats and most of their sauces), and they can tell you everything about whats in their food if you have allergy concerns.
Snobby, rude and impatient woman picked up the phone. She then hung up after asking her if they delivered? Only owners of establishments act that way. Sad excuse for a business. Overpriced for the serving sizes. Bobbique, although a good half hour in the opposite direction, has MUCH better food and serving sizes twice the size of this ungrateful place.
Well great BBQ here in riverhead. They did a small redesign now with beer on tap, cocktails and wine! If youre in riverhead, definitely worth a stop over for lunch. Maybe before your wine your, pick up some burnt ends and brisket. Great BBQ!I ordered the Reuben sandwich. Made with their own pastrami. As a native of Long Island I have to say the Reuben sandwich is something I know very well. This is the best one Ive had in my entire life.
A very nice place to grab a bite to eat if your a fan of bbq.on a nice day you can eat outside in the rear courtyard that has a very nice private setting or you can sit inside at one of the many tables in the restraunt area.it was very clean with a relaxed atmosphere. The owners are wonderful and truly care about thier buisness.mapletree bbq is a great addition to riverhead
...be VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU ORDER! i never had a problems with them UNTIL NOW ..so i went to get ribs for my clint today..but this time they sure..want to mess you up!! I order the $15 ribs and i was expected 6 ribs and then when i got my order there where only 3 i told them i just got three and..and his saying there are 6..its like am talking to some stupid person! But worse he give me a dirty look and didnt even apology for making a mistake!! So please people always check your ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!
Wings were the worst! Over smoked and thick fatty skin with a awful Korean sauce. Couldnt eat them! The pulled pork was ok but the potatoes and Mac n cheese had no flavor at all....soon after eating I had the worst stummoch ache! On top of all that it was expensive. I wont be back.
We have been eating at Maple tree for the last 3 years, whether it be take home dinners, or lunch breaks at work; even after transferring 30 minutes away for work still made it a point to drive out to Maple tree. After the restaurant changed hands a few months back, I had heard rumors of the food quality diminishing... I learned today, that is in fact has gone down SIGNIFICANTLY.Not only has the pricing changed, the decor, the quality of food but the homey feel is GONE. Walking in is no longer a warm welcome.Taking home 2 meals, 2 sodas and corn bread (no longer included) and a chicken chili (which looked like blended slop) I left with a near $50 bill. When arriving back to eat the food I picked up I was more than disappointed. The food was no longer the same, the burnt ends were fatty, the chili flavorless, and the staple sides; mac & Cheese and Herb-Smashed Potatoes.I will not be going back, I will be sure to let my coworkers who loved our group bbq meals know we need to look elsewhere
Initially just called to see if they were going to be open New years eve and the lady just repeatedly said i dont know, i dont know with an attitude and that really put me off from wanting to go there. The way you talk and the tone of your voice matters alot to customers.
I am literally sitting in the restaurant as I write this review. I really wanted to enjoy this place but as I write this my plate sits more than half full because the food came to me cold and most of it inedible. I hate to write a poor review for any food business but I couldnt believe how bad every single part of my meal was.

2022-01-16As always, the food was perfect! Their smoked meats are incredible! I just had a beef brisket sandwich (The Texan), and I can’t speak highly enough about it! Don’t pass this place by, it’s awesome!!

2021-07-09This is the BEST BBQ I’ve EVER HAD! The smoked wings were divine, the brisket melted like cotton candy & the North Carolina pulled pork was ethereal! Make sure to get the lemonade & try the bourbonade! I plan on going back to Long Island just for their food !

2021-06-14This place has great BBQ. we had the burnt ends and ribs (smoked twice), both was delicious. Especially the sauce covering the burnt ends, its the best! Outdoor dinning area is shaded by trees and a couple of umbrellas. 3 huge burner in the back near the outdoor dinning area. We also met the owner who greeted us with a smile while helping the staff cleaning the tables. He asked if we enjoy the food and I compliment him on that sauce. Parking is side street and a spacious parking lot across the street next to the river. Will come back just for that burnt end platter again!

2021-09-18The ribs were tender and cooked just right. The food here is flavorful and not too salty. There are additional parking space across from the restaurant.

2022-06-21We came in on a Sat for a late lunch. It was still a little busy. Service was pretty good, there was a mixup and they addressed it quickly. The owner himself came out and addressed it so i appreciate that. Food was delicious. The portions are small but thats typical for smoked BBQ.The three stars is because of the portions the chef chose to plate. For the brisket that we ordered, its portioned by weight and they threw in this large piece of fat that was not edible at all. For the ribs that we ordered, we got the end piece on the rack thats mostly bone. Maybe they were rushing and didnt think about it. I feel being conscientious about what your plating can make or break this kind of experience for a customer when food is being sold by weight and number of ribs. It doesnt sit right when it feels like youre paying full price for leftovers.

2022-06-20My second time coming to this place yesterday. I took my family here because the food and service were so great last time. The food is still great and everybody is wonderful except this African American girl at the register who was having some serious attitude problems. She has a straight face on this whole time when we place our order. When I went back and ordered a couple more things for our table, her attitude was worse. I asked her if it’s a lot of trouble to add orders to our table? She then immediately fix her face and forcefully put on a smile and said ‘’no.’’ My other family members feel the same way about this girl. She shouldn’t be working there if she hates her job so much.

2020-07-16Impeccable customer service and hospitality, even with limited traffic in light of the pandemic. As soon as you step on the property, the staff are ready to come out and greet you, one of the staff went as far as to sit us down and explain the entire menu. Very friendly and informative. Quality of the food is good, particularly the pulled pork and pulled chicken were great. Nice, spacious outdoor eating area that is dog friendly, as well as indoor seating if you prefer. Plus the price point is very cheap compared to other barbecue restaurants. Even when we left, the manager of the restaurant went out of his way to come out to our car to say goodbye to us and thank us for coming. Though a bit hidden from the main road and shopping centers, it is certainly worth the detour to come to this place!

2021-02-08Was out in Riverhead between appointments this past Friday and couldnt resist for lunch. During COVID, they are doing it all right: tables spaced out, masks and plexiglass at the register. They have a big menu but the woman who took my order was very helpful. Went with the combo of burnt ends and pastrami. She expertly recommended sauces for the meats. She was spot on. The meat and sauces were excellent. I had coleslaw and beans as my two sides. Again, they did not disappoint. The place has wonderful service, unbelievable barbecue meats and great choice of sides. Highly recommend! I will definitely be back again and againBurnt ends, pastrami, beans and coke slaw!

2022-06-20Some of the best BBQ Ive had in NY is at Maple Tree. The brisket is tender and flavorful. The herbed crushed potatoes are delicious. The ribs fall off the bone and need no sauce. The kallards (kale cooked in the style of collard greens) are as good a side of greens as Ive had outside the South. I can only bemoan the service, as the staff were continually mixing-up order details for us and others on a busy Sunday afternoon. I would definitely go again.
