Where to start… Rich. Started out as a very nice guy, and Still is, but business wise- we have a disagreement and I feel the need to share it to protect the consumer. We agreed on a price. Nothing in writing…. All verbal (which is my mistake). Installed my two garage openers and they both work, well. He had forgotten to order the strips for the bottom of the door he told me. I have a gap on the bottom of my three doors, so I needed a new strip. He left me a bill which was inclusive of the strips (when told to me verbally- but when the bill was left with me, they claim it wasn’t inclusive of that). I didn’t really look at the bill, because I was hoping to trust what I was told, but they claim, the strips were a separate charge. I called the office to follow up a week later on when the strips would be installed and the office worker (who doesn’t return calls, you have to follow up multiple times) she said she had to make sure it was ordered. Never heard, I call again twice, then she says it will be here the next week. I call again, next week… call again, they don’t have them in stock, they are on back order. I was told they were on the truck.. but then nothing. So I said I found them elsewhere please give me a refund. They won’t give it because I never paid for them they claim. Yes the bill says one thing, but I had a handshake agreement of $1065 all inclusive, and then the messy bill they claim said otherwise. Additionally, they kept pushing me weeks out to get an appointment originally. That’s fine- but the only way I was able to know that was because I had to follow up with phone calls. If you read other reviews online, you will see that the communication can be pretty poor, and I agree. Over $97.25, the past business I’ve given them, and the referrals I’ve given them, I cannot say I’d work with them in the future. Something changed recently within the company I can tell, because it’s not the same service or communication I remember. Stay clear and find another garage store to work with.

I used Mark Mays Garage Door Store for many years. Their are very professional both the owner and the staff. The prices are fair and their services are great, too. I highly recommend this business to you, your family, and your friends. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest), the score for this company and their staff is a 10.

Title: An insiders viewpoint.I used to work for Mark for about 10 years. From my point of view the business is a good one. Anyone who complains about the service doesnt see the other side of it. Yes, there are times when calls arent returned.The reasons are numerous however, Mark runs a small business.With all of the instant communications (read, instant gratification),Many expect immediate service. Ordering a product especially a custom garage door thats only in stock at the supply warehouse or is custom built at the factory isnt instant and many times beyond Marks control. The final results of a job well done are the hallmarks of a skilled installer and business. Marks custom door shop puts out a high quality door. Ive watched the man building them, he is a top notch cabinet maker. The products he sells are high quality as they should be. From where I stood with the company, I saw many of the issues handled by the staff. They are knowledgeable and skilled in what they do. Mark was trained by another good garage door man before he went into business for himself, I worked for him too, for about 9 years. I worked with Rich mentioned in another entry above. He is excellent in his work. Remember, its a small business with one on one, face to face dealings. The big box stores dont compare, I know, Mark used to work with them. I was the installer doing that work. I was also called in to repair and reinstall some of the other installers attempts. The instant expectations of some of his customers were incredibly uninformed sometimes, not to disparage anyone, just some dont conceive what the company and installer need to do to provide quality service even though it may take longer than expected. Garage doors are a major part of a home like roofing, siding, landscaping and etc. They take design, planning and coordination to produce homeowners and builders approved results. Garage doors are in this category.Sometimes patience is a virtue needed to get a great result. I give the company 5 stars.

Nobody answers the phone, seems to be one worker running around like a chicken without a head. Comes to do a repair then says I have to leave to go to another job yet hasnt fixed my issue. Has to come back 3 days later and upsold me a new garage door motor rather than fixing the original issue. Was told the owner is retired, so who is running this place ?

I had an appointment set up for 8am. Tech showed up on time, looked at job and begged off saying it was a lot of work and he wanted to come back with another guy, can he reschedule...I said yes, he told me someone would call later. I didnt get a call until 2 days later. Guess they didnt want or need the work.

Made an appointment, no one showed up. Called and was told the tech was running late and would be there soon. 3 hours later called and no one picked up. Left a message and now a few days later still havent heard anything. Will be finding another company.

Our garage door was not working so I called the store. They explained over the phone how to troubleshoot it and I was able to easily and safely solve the problem myself with guidance. It turned out to be a very minor issue but we hadnt been able to figure it out ourselves. They were very friendly and helpful.

They are rude and unhelpful. After installing and new door for me and selling me a new remote, which interfered with my neighbors garage door opener; and after my system broke for the first time in 25 years, they failed to keep an appointment, failed to call to leave any message, and then were intolerably rude to me on the phone. Avoid them.

Replaced 2 garage doors. One of the glass sections was cracked and they came back in less than one week and replaced. Great customer service. I would use them again.
