Market 32 in other cities:
Awful customer service.Managers are awesome. Very helpful. Stickers, very polite and knowledgeable about merchandise. However, front end people are very rude, even if you ask them a simple questions, they answer back to you in away that you dont want to return again. No long time ago, I was Ready to pay, and this guy that always seat behind the cashier pointed me and referring to me like I dont deserve the same respect as other people. A business with awful customer service should not be open for business. From one, being to worst, and number ten , the best, this Price Chopper still have a zero in customer service.I would love to rate it better, but as a resident of Albany I expect the best customer service toward the residents of Albany and visitors as well. We can do it.
This is just an utter fail. Perhaps the rename is meant to distance the Golub name from its Price Chopper heritage, but Market 32 is a proverbial (stinking) rose, and going by another name doesnt make the smell any less intolerable. (I dont mean to impugn garlic, but to deny its odor is to destroy credibility.)The store is understaffed, and what staff there is–with a couple of notable exceptions–make it worse rather than better. The (astronomical) prices are almost beyond belief. The selections are pitiful and buy into horrid tropes about the clientele. And any hope of using this grocer as a complete solution to your grocery needs is to fail to notice it is little more than a non- resident-owned bodega, unconcernedly extracting from the neighborhood and putting nothing back into it.I gave this place several tries over several months to allow for some indication that it was a temporary problem that might get solved. Nothing of the sort happened, nor do I ever expect it given what Ive seen.Go elsewhere. Buy elsewhere. Believe nothing to the contrary; it will avail you. This is rancid, dehumanizing, solely profit-centered enterprise that should never see your hard-earned money.
The market itself continues to surprise me with its variety and general service of staff is good. However, the service is not perfect. They often have long lines frim running only a few registers. This often leads to longer wait times at check out. Plus little care is given to whats happening just outside the store; cleanliness is big issue from people hanging out outside. Plus bathroom could use a proper cleanup.
Its okay. They will probably have what you need. It feels like this store caters to the Snap benefits crowd. Because the prices are OUTRAGEOUS! They are ridiculous with their prices. I would blame covid, but even before that they were expensive. Thats why I frequent Shop Rite. The best store in Albany. I wish it was them up the block.
I just want to give a complement to the person who takes care of the lot - his name is Chris - and I think he does an excellent job - he not only puts the carts where they belong but he cleans the lot of trash, pulls the weeks around the poles waters down the walkway- and I just think he’s awesome 👏 👍🏼
I hear the various responses ranging from disappointed altogether as well as signs of brighter qualities. it is valid to express ones unhappy experiences. I feel they do a fair job here and I am always greeted and dealt with in a courteous and cheerful manner. Not every place will be award-winning, but I am happy they are here and nearby when I dont feel like venturing further north to another store. Thank you for how you all try to make it a pleasant experience. I do wish things were stocked more regularly. I too wish at times things were more frequently replaced to the shelves. Given I know little of the inner gears of supply and availability, I shall not have this reflect in my rating. Thank you for working to do your best. Stay well. Market 32 is basically a favorite place to shop.
Literally, the worst and rudest deli staff! Like, instead of saying pardon me or excuse the girl says I need to open this case now. SMH! Then the lady cutting got the order wrong twice. Politeness and professionalism is still a thing ya know. Not to mention, 20 minutes to cut less than 1 pound of 2 types cold cuts.
On the plus side I really enjoy shopping here because they have fresh produce and the people are really friendly. If that was a manager that helped bag my stuff today she was really dope. She bag exactly how I would bag my groceries.Pros would be that things are pricey I spent at least 80 more dollars in there then I would at C-Town. But then again I am in Albany 🤷
My experience was OK, but at check out the lady did not apply the discounts on the meat i picked out. She peeled of the discount label and stuck them on the side an only later when i looked at the receipt i saw that she never applied the discount. Next time i will definitely check the receipt before leaving the store.
I love this branch!! Always clean and the employees are always nice and courteous!! 10/10 experience always have what’s needed in stock during a time of need and I frequent here as well!!!! Great place to shop!! Please follow it’s free and you can watch videos on YouTube? Maybe live streams on twitch? Let’s go I’ll see you there goodie/gamer
I go to this store all the time. A loyal frequent shopper, and I use my college’s reusable bag to shop. Tell me why today 6/29/2020 I go in there to get my groceries and I put them in the bag, like I always do.There were 3-4 employees tailing me in every aisle. It was so uncomfortable, I couldn’t even get everything I needed. This is the only store I shop at because it’s right across from my house. It was such an unpleasant experience and it bothers me because I have never stolen a day in my life. My conscience won’t allow me to do that. They were probably new employees because I’ve never experienced this before ,but Do better!
Worst customer service Ive ever experienced, the cashiers dont pay attention and are always in their phones, they dont bag your items but they get extremely impatient and dont wanna wait for you to bag your own purchased items before sending the next customers items down the belt. The last time I was there I paid cash for my items, when handing back my change the cashier was staring at her phone as she tried to hand me my money and dropped all my change on the floor. Then she looked at me like it was my fault and huffed and puffed when I asked her to pick it up... She also made sure to finish her text message before doing so. Are we not the reason they get a paycheck?
This place is...okay. The shelves are usually fully stocked, the selection is better than most small town supermarkets, but it certainly is lacking in areas such as restroom cleanliness. In no fewer than twice in the last three uses of said restroom was the toilet paper roll empty. Never is there any hand soap. To say that no staff seem to care about their jobs there would be an understatement. 3 stars.
The place is pretty decent. The selection is okay. There are a lot of items I I would recommend that they stock, that they dont. However, the staff is semi friendly depending on when you catch them. For being called the ghetto Chopper Its relatively clean. Three stars
Unfortunately as we all know zero stars is not an electable option. With a grave understanding of the same, the poor and pathetic service I received at the hands of the “store manager” Mike was despicable for a lack of better words. Not only was this Mickey Mouse clown unable to address and resolve a relatively simple question I had; the manner in which he conducted himself was unacceptable and the appropriate senior level management team needs to explicitly be aware of the same. Not only did I feel publicly ostracized, he embarrassed me and left me with an extremely sour taste in my mouth.I am presently traveling for work this week and reside out of state in San Diego. Thankfully I am only in town for the week however; I now have to grossly inconvenience myself and go out of my way and find another local grocery store as it’s blatantly apparent this gentleman does not have a thorough understanding on how to do his job and if this one simple and routine aspect of his responsibilitiesis overlooked and neglected, I fear for my safety and that of the neighborhood patrons who frequent this store as I can only imagine the corners this individual is likely cutting and extending misinformation to his employees and other direct reports.Market 32 please do yourself a favor in the spirit of avoiding potential litigation and sever ties with this knucklehead. Based on my limited exposure, it’s evident he lacks the needed skills to properly manage a store and his continued employment within the capacity of a manager will ultimately end adversely for your organization and considerations for a change should not be ignored. Thanks for nothing Mike. I know your job requires the skills of a rocket scientist, but it’s time to hang up your smock and punch out chief.
It ISNT overpriced, it actually is very fair. Anyone who has to do household groceries can get a lot for their money. Its newly renovated, and though theres no butcher or seafood counter, you can get quality meats and produce for little money. Its clean, and the staff are pleasant. Groceries arent cheap these days but this store has a decent variety so you can go from cheap to name brand and it wont empty the wallet. And if you have to get stuff at three am its open.
90% of the staff seem completely indifferent in providing quality customer service and often one is made to feel as though they are inconveniencing the cashiers (who are rarely actually staffed at the full service check out lines) The prices are frequently inaccurate and if pricing is correct they are astronomical and seem to be out of sync with other similar stores. The fact that this is the only accessible grocery store for many of the residents of Albany it’s rather disheartening to see. Otherwise you should be aware of the frequency of sale items conveniently and often not in stock, the lack of rotation of product resulting in expired products remaining on shelves, finally be prepared to check your own groceries out even when the store is extremely busy. You’d think that given the ridiculously high prices that they could at the very least not insist that you be responsible for checking and bagging your groceries. SMH 🤦♂️ I’m certain this is not the image the Golub family ever envisioned for the business. I shop here out of convenience but proceed with caution.
Bakery manager lied to my face when asked “ when was the the “fresh” French bread last baked and stated “ we bake our bread every am fresh”. Going against my better judgement I bought the bread, 2 4 1 deal in the middle of the week, and realized I was right. The packaging did not match the time sticker as it was oily from what ever on the back and was hard and moldy tasting on the ends. I called another baker I usually go to and asked general questions and she was disgusted as well. She said she will tell her manager and I stated I don’t want a $2 refund or anything I just wanted fresh made bread as it was marketed. Totally marking this location a do not enter.
The product is what you would typically find at any Market32, minus a few things because they dont have high square footage. Customer service is HORRIBLE! I can never find someone when I need them, the cashiers are all teenagers who love to gossip openly about drama, and they often ignore a guest or make them feel uncomfortable.
Customer service was very poor, attitudes and not professionalIt is a shame that even with the upgrade of the store, the company kept some of the same employees. After standing in line for a long period of time, a customer came in found an employee that was some how connected with her. They cut the entire line for her to go first. That is one price chopper have always dreaded visiting.
Smells like dead fish everytime I go in here. They obviously dont care about this place. Why? So sad.I will never buy deli meat or hot/cold foods here, as the smell turns me away. Its dirty. I dont trust that food products here are up to date. The smell ruins my shopping experience here.
The bathroom is filthy all the time. They never have the self-checkout opened in the morning when its needed very much. They only have one cashier in the morning and the line is always extremely long. I stopped there Monday through Friday every morning during my break at 7:30 in the morning and never can I get out fast. The entire store is in dire need of a makeover.
They barely have anything here and it is way overpriced. Ive went to nicer neighborhoods and spent less at those Price Choppers in high income vicinities . Its in a low income area but priced for the rich. Skinny ass steak slices for $7.75 ...ridiculous. Mop and Buff your floors, it smells like dying shark balls in there and get more cashiers at the register. Stop being cheap, youre making a killing already!!
Great for after work or middle of the night runs. But I wouldnt make a point to do my weekly shopping here. Has a pretty good stock of basics and things you would find in bigger stores but on more than one occasion I have come to this store for an item and to go elsewhere to find it.
I figured I would go to the nearest PC to get nasal spray at 2am in morning. I get there and the aisle is gated off. I get why one may do this, but the community shouldnt have to suffer. Im aware of there being security but not at night? I see why they call it the ghetto chopper.
Visiting the Capital Region, I stopped in at this Market 32 location to purchase bottled water, and also checked the fresh produce dept. for fruits. I got water and guavas. It’s my second time shopping at a Market 32, all due to its location and convenience as I passed through the area.Their selection is not extensive, and also I can’t fathom why the words ‘Price Chopper’ is part of their name/brand.In conclusion, going forward... I’ll skip Market32 altogether.@SweetFaceGypsy
Horrid. Dogs running loose unsupervised. Ungracious cashiers. Pricing higher then on shelves. Stocking done late..so stuff in isles blocking. But its 24 hours for emergencies...except pharmacy isles...they are closed off.Worst Price Chopper Market 32...high prices bad unsanitary service. Bad attitude!
Was in the store on Delaware at 9 p.m bought produce went to check out no registers were open only self checkout asked if there was a register open a rude employee said he went to the bathroom we struggled to try and get self checkout to put in prices and weight for produce as four female employees stood not five feet away talking about there baby daddy and complaining about there dss caseworker making them get a job we asked for help after about 15 minutes of trying to get self checkout to work employees started yelling at us saying we told you he went to the bathroom. My question why couldnt one of the four help us anyway we ended up leaving groceries on self checkout Lane and walked out
Like another commenter said, there must be something horribly wrong with this store. Yes, it is undeniably a ghetto chopper, but they do not carry SIMPLE ITEMS that every other store has, such as unflavored gelatin, cake flour, kerrygold butter, etc! This store is a hot mess and never has what I need. I absolutely agree that they advertise items that they dont even carry. So frustrating. At least the employees have improved...somewhat
I gave you 5 stars because it was very clean in there check out was very fast maybe I didnt come on today when its busy food look pretty well I dont know about the meat but Im talking about life box food canned goods snacks drinks and water so next time I go there Im going to check out the seafood and check out the meat but so far I gave you 5 stars for the neatness of the star and the fast check out keep you posted
This is not what I really called Mark 32 I dont know why they call it market 32 I cant figure it out every other market 32 Ive been to in Clifton park-halfmoon Latham has a Starbucks in it and other things in his such as a meat counter fish counter deli if they do have their but many other items that they have in this particular so-called market 32 this is not a market 32 its a Price Chopper and thats that they have things shipped in from other 32 for this particular store on Delaware Ave which they assume is the market 32 and its not no where close to 1 is it okay store. The prices are way above normal for many of things and as for my shopping needs thats not really there its just not my type of market 32 maybe for other people it is but for me it is not. Far as Im concerned they can have the parking lot redone. And they should have places where people can sit down like every other market 32 has and that is not available there but one bench in the front unbelievable
I like market 32 I like a lot of their products a lot of The Price choppers have cleaned up their act the stores are looking much better than they once did the staff is more courteous and polite and willing to help and that makes a lot of difference especially the store and Price chopper in Westgate theyre very good at what you do say do I cannot speak highly enough of your front end management I wish I could remember the one young ladys name who whenever help is needed shes just automatically there hes definitely definitely an added bonus very good people skills and very good at what she does next time I will make sure I get her name so I can put it up there
At Price Chopper on Delaware Avenue in Albany at 10:30 PM the night of the Madison Ave fire, an older adult woman and an younger adult man were observed rushing down the produce aisle arm-in-arm to exit the PC store through the front entranceway. Once outside the store they were stopped by the pursuing store manager, as I was walking into the store. Upon appropriate confrontation, they gave-up the several large ounce cans of beer they were concealing. They pleaded and excused their own behavior with their statements to the store manager. When he asked the older adult female to please empty her handbag she appeared angry and spewed verbal abuse at the store manager, but then another large can of beer exposed itself. Unfortunately, the police were not notified, and these 30-something adults were allowed to walk away. This suggests to me that local management is trying to contain the chronic theft problem with which they may confront all day. It makes me wonder IF corporate Price Chopper turns a blind eye to the facts of store theft they clearly must know occurs at this business location. Thats not good news for the Hudson Park, Washington Park, and other contiguous neighborhoods of the Delaware Avenue Albany Price Chopper. Allowing this criminal behavior to go undetected and unreported has counterproductive consequences. The Delaware Avenue Price Chopper store location is the destination of choice for the lie, cheat, and steal class of lowlifes endemic within Albany and all our modern cities. Shame on you Corporate Price Chopper for your neglectful and irresponsible neighborhood citizenship!
Pretty sure they doubled all the prices in the store knowing most people that live in the area are poor and without transportation leaving them forced to shop there .I also believe they depend highly on food stamps given its location knowing most people who receive those services are less likely to complain about the price .. Hannaford is so much cheaper and better deals
Cashier packed gooey chicken meat with club soda bottles.I ask bagger for an extra Sach. Dahhhhh is his response.I asked. I need another plastic bag. This needs re-bagged. Ahhh daaa.I had to stand at baggage end if cashier isle. Get the plastic bag. Re-bag the items. Why use cashiers and baggers?Automat!Worst management.Worst employees.Tripled water prices during massive summer heat wave!Go elsewhere. This store has a negative nickname for a reason!
Nice selection of apples pears Bagels digs chickens carrots peas tomatoes green beans tomatoes potatoes they ra very helpful in finding my adult diapers and other artifacts like that they also have a great rotisserie chicken that is delicious you get that with some rice
Last night was the first time that I have been in this particular store in almost 17 years, and I can say, what a difference. Not just in the Major overhaul of appearance that Price Chopper, now Market 32, (it will always be PC to me...lol). but in the products they stock, and the cleanliness of the store. The neighborhood, is still the neighborhood. Its a lot better than what it used to be, but some things do stay the same. that is part of the charm of this little store. They are not in the best neighborhood, but they deliver convenience of a full grocery store, in an area where most of the available food is prepackaged, and manufactured, which is not good for any community.#EndFoodDeserts
When this store was marketed as Price Chopper, the store itself constantly smelled of garbage upon walking in. Day after day, week after week, month after month it smelled like garbage. It was a putrid & disgusting smell especially in the hot summer months. Because the smell never dissipated, people stop going there. When people stopped going there, Price Chopper rebranded it as Market 32. With this rebranding came along a renovation to the look of the store but, the smell remained. This Market 32 is vile & disgusting. The smell will make you nauseous upon entering. In addition to the smell, the customer service is horrendous & there is never more than 1 or 2 checkout lines open causing a 15 to 20 minute wait regardless of how many items you have. I wouldnt shop there if you paid me.
Market 32 is the place I shop most of veggies and meat along with bakery products and deli meat and cheese. Theyve got wide range of products to choose from and the staff are way friendlier compared to other market 32s or price choppers.I love the apple custard pastry from the bagels section. Also the pound butter cake from the bakery.
Steer clear of the produce here. it often smells like something has begun to rot in the produce section. There isnt an on site butcher so i wouldnt necessarily trust the meat either. The rest of the store is alright. Some of the patrons are a bit crazy sometimes and its not uncommon to hear someone yelling at someone else out in front of the store.
At least twice now, my boyfriend and I have spotted spoiled meat being sold at Market 32. They re-stickered the dates to make them look safe. We now make the trek to farther grocery stores(usually Whole Foods even though its kind of a long bus ride away) to buy our meats and our fruits.Ive also never seen fair trade bananas at Market 32 or any Price Chopper. I guess thats a mild complaint in comparison to the first, but Id like to not support banana wars if possible. :/
The Delaware manager was very rude to me when I called regardingBottle recycling ctr. I told him, that I will be contacting Neil Golub. He said, go ahead, I dont care. Do you want his number? I said no. I met Neil Golub a while back in person. He is such a nice man, that would not tolerate a managers attitude, like the one I talked to at the Delaware store. I will be contacting Neil soon.
You can paint and remodel the ghetto chopper all you want, but when you look at the selection of the delaware store to the madison store, its obvious that the company still thinks the area isnt worth maintaining a fully stocked store. The WIC and food stamp ratio is the only thing that selection is based off. The neighborhood is a very mixed socioeconomic area; they lose a lot of business, because of how they misrun that store. If im going to run to a second store for something that isnt there, I wont be running to another market/chopper.
A customer everybody knows what rush hour is it should not be one person serving customer service should not be one person during rush hour maybe after rush hour one person Westgate Price chopper has a Delaware Price chopper I know you dont really care Rush hour so people can get in and out take breaks after before rush hour and after Rush hour that way everyone gets a turn to come in and go it would help business in the of money would go quicker
I only like the market 32 🆙 in clifton park. The other ones such as on Delaware ave in Albany shouldnt be called a market32 because its nothing like the others. It needs to be expanded and no meat dept or counter no fish department they have fish only in a small place in this store and most of their food and other items are OVER PRICED
Ghetto as always...clerk tried to cheat..Me out $10!..I was due back $11....He gave me $2 back..When I brought it to his attention....He said. My bad bro....Sooooooo professional...Not....Work on ur customer service at the Delaware ave location....Its still ran like the Ghetto Chopper its always been
Theres this one girl her name is diamonique I hope I spelled it right every time I come in its a joy to be around her shes very helpful and I was having a bad day and she made my day she knew the right aisle to tell me where to get my baking soda and clam chowder she has excellent customer service

2022-06-11Was there shopping and while at the self checkout, a customer forgot his change after his transaction. The customer service attendant Marcus acknowledged that the customer left his change behind was very polite in letting the customers in line he had to tell the customer he left his change behind in the change well, which was a large amount of money. Talk about honesty, Marcus who is a young gentleman always courteous to the customers in my opinion deserves recognition for his honesty and dedication to the community.

2022-06-08Understocked and understaffed. Self checkout lines were not available either for some reason. Not the employees fault just horribly managed, almost seems like a forgotten store.

2022-05-31I can to the grocery store, to pick up a few things. I don’t usually come to this grocery store. I was in self check out, the monitor just said to wait for cashier assistance after I tried to process my payment twice with the same card. Nobody clarified why I wouldn’t process, they just stared at me. Then the cashier on self check out proceeded to yell across the check out station that my EBT card declined. I did a full double take like WHAT?? I’m using a debit card and I just realized I was using the wrong one to pay for my groceries. I felt so humiliated and degraded for him to assume I’m paying with EBT because I’m black. He could have just told me your payment declined. However when a white couple came to cash out he did everything but let them step on him to help them check out 😟. Safe to say I’ll never come back again, I’d rather travel all the way to Glenmont then ever come here again. I will let everyone I know locally about this experience so they don’t shop here.

2021-12-09This is a smaller version of the Market 32s in the burbs, they may not have every single item (brand) youre looking for, but what they do have is always well stocked and the produce section is very well maintained (thank goodness!).Unfortunately, the cashiers run the gambit from outstandingly amazing and super friendly (shout out to the ladies working the morning shifts!!!) to texting while cashing you out and catching an attitude with elderly customers who require a bit of assistance.

2022-02-12The store is clean and well organized. I was a bit surprised that they did not have some - what I consider, common - produce items such as green onions or chives. Perhaps its due to supply chain issues. Some produce, such as the herbs, was past its prime.Ive read that some have concerns about their safety in this store; I felt safe up until two women started shouting at each other at the entrance with one screaming, Ill cut you! and the security guard just smiled and waved at them. ...they might want to reconsider their security team.My cashier couldnt have been more pleasant. That was a nice way to end my first of many visits to the neighborhood market.

2022-02-08It can be strange at times, like strange people hanging around outside and half of the store is going through stocking issues, some of the employees can be very rude. If its your only option it works... But I recommend a different Market32

2022-05-12I like the place. The staff are very friendly. A lot of thought and consideration, and Care is put into that store.
