This place is the best. So many healthy options, it’s been my go to lunch spot for years. I have used them to do catering before but did my first breakfast catering order today and was very impressed. Everything was wonderful and good amount for price. Bonus points cause I put the wrong address and the delivery guy called me, redelivered to the correct spot + set up the food for me. Additional bonus points for the undying consistency over the past 4+ years! 🤗
My morning ritual would not be the same without this place! This is my favorite breakfast and lunch spot!! The quality of good, rich healthy food for the price is unbelievable---and the service is amazing. The staff treats you like its your neighborhood coffee shop, and even when its crazy busy, everything is super quick and efficient. Hewayda and Mario are especially wonderful! They will take great care of you!!They also take catering orders which our company takes advantage of quite often! Theyve never disappointed and are very accommodating. The presentation is beautiful, and as always, the food is very fresh! Our office loves it.There is such a variety to choose from, and again the staff is quick to make sure youre genuinely satisfied. Enjoy!!!
A variety of hot and fresh options! So many delis have that everything-tastes-like-refrigeration flavor. Market Crates is a stealth great option in a neighborhood where there arent many. Once my ordered-ahead food wasnt ready when I arrived, and the staff gave me a coffee while I waited. Ill certainly be back.
Market Crates has become my go-to spot - the food is super (I especially love their soups) and they have such friendly staff. Theyve even taken the time to remember my name - very rare in NYC! You can always trust them to deliver an amazing selection of food and new varieties each day. Its clear they place a lot of attention on creating new offerings, using delicious combinations of ingredients that you definitely wont find at your average lunch spot. I also use them for catering work meetings and every time my coworkers compliment the food selection. They take pride in what they do and it truly shows. Definitely recommend a visit!
They have so much to choose to enjoy. I have tried salad couple times and also hot food table. They were delicious. Today I went there for breakfast. It was of the hook. Offered me FREE COFFEE :))) It was very nice of them. Place is super clean. Thats the first thing that caught my eye. I am a very picky person and I absolutely enjoyed my food and overall experience at Market Crates.
I cant highlight how much of a godsend this place has been for me and my co-workers, especially being a vegetarian.Pros-Excellent and Efficient Service-Very very economical : Costs 8.99 bucks for a salad.-Fantastic Selection : You name it, you shall get it . Theres salads, pastas, sandwiches, quinoa bowls as well as entrees. This place also has numerous fruit bowls- Theres limited seating available at this place as wellCons- The waiting line can be long during peak hours- I tried the pasta after ordering it online and found it to be too greasy for my comfort.I think amongst the numerous food options, the quinoa bowl and salad bowl beat all others by a mile. Theyre economical, healthy and substantial quantity wise. They also have a ton of breakfast options and Ive tried the scrambled eggs here on numerous occasions.Pro-TipIf you create an online account and order online youll get a 10% discount on your order. Theres a column indicating that on the page.
Been eating here, breakfast and lunches, as well as catering many functions from them since they opened. Staff is always warm and friendly, and place is immaculate. Most of my fellow employees eat here as well, and all have same feelings; Great Food, Great People and Very Clean, fairly priced for NYC.
While visiting NYC I made this spot my go to for breakfast because of the variety of breakfast options they offer. From pancakes, waffles, bagel with cream cheese, pastries and make your own omelette and a selection of fresh fruit. Their service is great as well. They are welcoming and friendly! I highly recommend this place.
I have never written a review in my life, so this should tell you something. This place is amazing and the workers are too. The food is good and fairly priced. I work right near it so I go there fairly often and haven’t gotten tired of it yet. I would give 10 stars if possible. There’s one worker who stands out, her name is Amal I believe and she is amazing. Like i said I don’t do these so this should hold some weight.
I am totally in love with the service and quality of the food at market crates! I even walk 2 blocks out of the way to go here. The cashiers are ALWAYS friendly and smiling and the best part is that they help speed up the check out line. This is really important when you have limited time for lunch. Market Crates offers healthy food at an efficient rate! I really hope they open more…hopefully next to my home!
I love this place and Ive been coming in since it opened. The staff are all super kind and friendly and I deal very well with how busy it gets in there. If you go in at peak breakfast/lunch time, be prepared for a lot of people, but it really does move fast. The food is varied and nice to have some healthy options available. I think ive tried most if not everything in there and its all really good!Would highly recommend
Great spot for a quick breakfast in Midtown. The food is really high quality, and I especially recommend the bagel sandwiches. The interior is fresh and clean, and therere some tables to eat at by the door. (And if you cant grab a spot to sit down, try walking over to Greeley Square Park half a block away.)
I work right around the corner from Market Crates, and it is my #1 go-to for a quick lunch. My absolute favorite is the matzo ball soup (although, split pea is a close second). It is by far the best matzo ball soup Ive ever had, even compared to the classic Jewish Delis in the city. And, of course, its important to note that the staff is phenomenal. Quick, attentive, and always friendly. Amal, in particular, is a doll :)
Food is healthy and delicious, prices are reasonable, place to check if you work in midtown. Ordering and checking out process is a little confusing - I wasnt sure what kind of wrap Ive got at the end and it was a challenge to explain to cashier (which I was supposed to do). Once you are a regular customer, Im sure things get easy :)
Market Crates is by far my favorite place to go for breakfast and lunch. I go there everyday because they have so many different options and varieties. The food is always fresh and top quality. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable. I highly recommend this place to everyone! :)
I almost always go for the market place stand, and they have a bunch of classics that always deliver on taste - the golden jewel base, meatballs, and mac & cheese (not the healthiest selection, though). The vegetable dishes are hit or miss though, more often than not miss, and service is brusque.
Just got my regular salad with arugula and turkey. I have been going to this place for years, but todays salad is spoiled and turkey smells so bad that even after I threw it in the garbage it still smells. I hope I am not going to get food poisoning. Its crazy that they can serve something that smells bad from a mile away. Today was my last visit - never again.
I would have given Market Crates a 5 star rating because the food is very good. I would say that the morning crew needs a lesson on how to prepare eggs and to listen to what the customer wants. This morning in particular, I ordered two eggs over easy with bacon (whats the deal with only turkey bacon?), no potatoes, no toast. I received my food only to find when I got to my office that there were potatoes and both yolks were broken... I couldnt eat most of my breakfast and had no time to go back. I realize that this is a first world problem, but a problem just the same.
A place where you can find quality food of your choice at an affordable price. The employees are very cordial. The foods taste really well. How do you guys do this day in and day out?Keep up the job guys!P.S. I have no interest -- financial or otherwise -- in the company.
The food here is good. My low rating is for their inconsistency in delivery. Every time I have asked for delivery they mess something up or forget an item in your order. You are better off walking in and ordering and eating there, this way you know you’re getting exactly what you want
I entered with my family into this restaurant and saw a great assortment of food here. I went over to the pasta grill and I asked one of the employees if I can make my own pasta and they said yes. So, I was making my own pasta. Problem was that the employee did not hear anything at all I was telling him. I had to repeat myself 10 times before he finally took notice. Not just that, he also kept goofing around with the woman next to me about how salty the soup was. While the woman did complain how salty the soup was, the employee did not handle it professionally. The only thing that made up for it was the delicious food.
Im giving one star becouse my own experience . The food is decent and the prices are not bad . But that doesnt mean anything when the custoner service is very bad. I order eggs omelette usually comes with home potato or home fries and a toast. I decide to change both sides for a bowl of quinoa. The lady that took care of me in the phone seens to understand my request. But when i get the food delivered to me they sent me the eggs omelette with a super small quinoa like to spoom of quinoa literally. And still charged me for the full price of the food with out the sides. I order food 2 times a day but this in one of the places i wont leave my money .
This place has become my go to stop before getting on the PATH train back to Jersey City. Amal is always here to greet me with a smile along with the rest of the staff. Recently she noticed that I was only purchasing tea and asked me if I had eaten here as well. I informed her that I tended not to eat out due to recently being diagnosed with Celiacs disease (gluten allergy). She took me around the store and showed me all of the GF products they sell and food they prepare. I was taken back by her kindness. Rarely people scoff when you tell them you have to eat gluten free but she made me feel welcome and safe with ordering food. Thank you Amal!
Food is good but their hours are not posted correctly on the website. Says they are open til 5pm on weekends but they close at 3Pm.For weekends they typically close at 7 even though it says 9pm.Will update review to four stars once hours are fixed on the site and google.
It is very interesting to me how all the 1 star reviews are from people who have no other reviews or contributions on Google! Hmmmm...makes you think huh? Whoever you are, whether youre a bitter competitor or simply a Jack Ass, get a life! Instead of hating on a great place, with excellent service, and outstanding quality of food, learn from them and maybe youll be more successful and have less time to hide behind your computer screens!
I got a salad which for the most part was good but the salad dressing guy put way too much in it and didnt shake it so the first long squirt was just oil. I was not able to finish the salad because of this. Also I was not asked about the option 2 grain I wanted.Despite this I would come back and try the quinoa bowl and other options.
Too expensive! The poor customer service. The first time I went, I asked two of the employees for a recommendation and one of them began to laugh as if I had made a joke. And if that were not enough I ordered this meal and the girl asked me if I wanted a receipt and I dont know why but the Zucchini were burned!
Excellent place, with a modern aesthetic salad bar type, but it includes not only salads but various dishes that prepare you in the minute, with excellent quality ingredients and a delicious result. Very good attention, concerned to advise you so that you are comfortable. And the best, the price-quality ratio, not forgetting the exquisite desserts. You can eat a very rich and healthy dish for 12 dollars with tax included.
Very good experience, cooks who take pleasure in preparing their products, and who are attentive to customers requests, and a very wide range of products, from salads to pancakes and smoothies. Very good experience coming out of the Empire State Building. Even if it is clearly lacking in space, a park with seats and tables is at the end of the block

2022-05-16My stay in Manhattan was short but oh how happy I was to have discovered Market Crates. I bought lunch here twice and I was not disappointed at all. The food was fresh and the options were almost limitless. I did not get to try their salads and quinoa bowls but will definitely, without a doubt be stopping by again whenever I’m in the city. There is this grain that I ordered which was also sooo good. I highly recommend this place. The staff was also very friendly 🙂

2022-03-27I end up eating here at least once a week and absolutely love the custom salads. My favorite dressing is the lemon tahini -- fresh, tasty, and full of flavor (though apparently low in calories!). Ive sampled a few of the baked goods and all have been quite good. The best part of Market Crates is the service -- everyone is always smiling, friendly, and makes you feel like a regular.

2019-03-19Absolutely delicious! I never heard of this restuarant until visiting a potential vendor at his midtown office. Market Crates offers an incredible variety of choices to accommodate practically everyone..( carnivorous, vegan, vegetarian, ova-lactose, or whatever you might be). Everything is fresh and ready to go. They have numerous beverage choices, and a large variety of elite pastries. I was pleasantly surprised to find everything reasonably priced ; and the portion sizes are correct. Very friendly staff,.. polite and professional. The only negative about Market Crates is that its not close to my company☹️. Im jealous!

2021-12-17Surprisingly good! I usually steer clear from these types of places but hunger overruled. I got a special quinoa bowl with 2 soft fried eggs, kale, feta and olive. It was perfect, warm, very light and delicious. My partner had a breakfast omelet special and cinnamon roll and both were very good. I also had a soy capp which was nice and frothy. They had outside seating and let me use the bathroom. The price is right, the people are friendly, great experience overall.

2021-11-09I ordered a large latte for 3.49 as it says, but they wanted to charge me $4.99 saying that the price changed but they didn’t fix it in the menu. However, the omelette was very well done.

2021-06-02Ok service - it was early in the morning and I think they just didn’t see me. Disappointed in the chai latte - didn’t taste very good. Blueberry scone was decent. I imagine their other food and drinks are good, they are a very popular place to eat. I’ll have to give them another try down the road.
