Another restaurant I returned to after many years. The experience was still the same, wonderful! I always look forward to having their Kir Royale. The shrimp beignets are highly recommended. Delicious! I stayed with my favorite for the main course, moules molinieres and pommes frites. Wasnt disappointed at all. Restaurant wasnt overcrowded. Wait staff was very courteous and friendly! Hope it wont be a long time before I return again!
We had a pretty average experience with this place. We ordered a variety of dishes (salmon, organic chicken, branzino, and short ribs) and all of them except for the short ribs were below average in terms of flavor. The only dish that was very tasty without being remarkable, was the short ribs. The service was very good, but we had high expectations based on the some of the reviews and their website.
This is our waitress! We were seated at 2:44pm. She gave us our drinks took our order basically got us out of the way then proceeded to make her eat outside to chit chat. Based on the color of our skin she assumed we wouldn’t spend and or tip. When I asked how was the waffle she said “it’s a waffle”. Worst service. Racism is groomed and nurtured in this place.
I was looking forward to this dinner but ended up pretty disappointed. The restaurant is very nice inside with an upscale ambiance. We started off with two glasses of wine and the escargot (picture). Ive never had snails before but thoroughly enjoyed them. The wine was served with appropriate glasses and served via mini carafes, so you can pour small glasses at a time to allow the wine to breathe. For dinner we had the branzino and classic bouillabaisse, and I wouldnt recommend either. The branzino dish was very small, and my fiance described it as nothing special, and my bouillabaisse was very bland, and the shrimp were massively overcooked. The amount of seafood was plenty for me, but it was served in such a large bowl that it looked sparce. It came with three tiny pieces of toast, supposedly to lap up the broth, but I found the broth so tasteless that I didnt bother. I was not asked if I wanted any more wine during dinner, which was fine because my meal was so bland and underseasoned that I didnt see it worth it to spend more money on wine when there was no flavor to enhance. We did order the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and enjoyed it. The appetizer, dessert, and staff is why Im giving this 3/5 stars instead of something lower. Perhaps the two entrees we ordered were just off compared to the rest of the menu.
Tonight was my best friends bachelor party. Hes a big foodie and has been to many fine dining establishments in NYC, but had never been here before. He loved the food, and was very happy that they were accommodating for his food allergies. All our food was delectable, and I nearly cried from how good my meal tasted. Our waitress Jennifer was fantastic, super attentive and lovely. When we said we wanted to skip dessert because we were worried about running late for the Broadway show we were going to see, she gave us 2 complimentary desserts, rush ordered so we could be on time. A memorable night that met the grooms high expectations.
As soon as you step in, you feel you are in a beautiful environment. Everything is bright, open, inviting and feels positive. I took a group here for lunch and we had the best restaurant experience at this very restaurant Marseille during their stay. The staff, including the manager David, is outstanding. They accomplished to speed up our lunch without us feeling rushed, since we were running very late. Each and every server was wonderful, efficient and smiling. The food is super delicious!! Everyone loved it. I had the Skate and for desert the Creme Brulée. They use quality ingredients and both was excellent. I cant wait to be back.Merci.
My husband and I found this amazing restaurant by accident. What a wonderful time we had! The food was beyond delicious!! The atmosphere was cozy and intimate. We dined by candlelight as if our 34 years together were just like our first date. We are looking to go back each year for our anniversary. We highly recommend adding this restaurant to your bucket list. I especially recommend the gin and tonic cocktail! :)
Had a great brunch and tasty bottomless mimosas. Goat cheese tart was flaky flavorful and light. It was delicious. Salads were perfectly dressed, not too much but full of flavor. Would high recommend.Back for a second visit and enjoyed as much as the first time. Tartar was very good, great flavor and texture. Cheeses on cheese board were very different and so good. Might be one of the best Bries I have ever tasted.
The food was great but the real treat was our server Madeline M. She provided a level of service I have not seen in the United States. My grandmother and I have been to restaurants who send their servers to Switzerland for special training. Madeline outdid them all. Really a great job by her and her manager who handpicked her to serve. It was a great meal and my grandmother and I hope to return to eat and see Madeline soon.
The food was okay. As someone who has been to France, I was a little disappointed at the menu. I also found the salmon Benedict and the sandwich a little bland. But my favorite food on the menu was their chips that comes with the sandwich. Also their crème brûle is very delicious.
My experience at this place was not that great. The waffles were cold on the inside and we had them bring us a new waffle and it was also cold on the inside. We asked for powdered sugar and the waiter told us they didn’t have any when we clearly saw the table next to use put powdered sugar on their waffles. The omelet was alright but nothing special. The best thing they had that we got was the Basil Lemonade which was surprisingly good.
The food was good, but the service was lacking. Our waitress, Autumn, was quite rude to us. She was nowhere to be found when our drinks and some of our sides did not arrive with our food. When we asked another server to call for her about the missing items, she came over and was quite rude and passive aggressive in her response just because we had called her. It definitely affected our experience at an otherwise pleasant dining establishment. All the other servers and members of the staff were great and pleasant as after that experience we tried not to bother Autumn since she was so busy and overwhelmed.
I pass in front of Marseille’s everyday and it’s always full of people. I thought “this restaurant must be really good!” so I ordered. Indeed the food is good but is overpriced for the size of the dishes, anyway! What really bothered me was the DISGUSTING BEARD-HEAD-PUBIC hair I found in the middle of my salad. GROOOOOSSSSS 🤢
Apps, dessert, wine and service (thank you, Nicole!)were all excellent. We loved the shrimp beignets and white asparagus appetizers as well as the glasses of wine (Pinot Blanc and Cote du Rhone by the glass) in addition to the lovely rolls and butter and strawberry tart w/basil ice cream dessert (yum!). But the entrees were really sub-par, and considering the price. . .we shouldve returned them. My companions skate fish was dry and under-seasoned and my duck entree was rubbery and needed salt as well. No one wants flabby duck skin. Not the fault of Nicole, our excellent server who accommodated our requests.
Overall, had a really great meal here. Though I wasn’t super impressed with the drinks available at brunch, all of the food was really delicious. The French onion soup is to die for, and the lobster tails, though very expensive, are delicious and well prepared. The lox bagel was very fresh and tasty, and the steak and eggs wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t order it again. The desserts were delightful- especially the creme brulee!Service was prompt and friendly, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is really beautiful, with people bustling inside and out, it’s an awesome place to sit and enjoy a meal.I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area!
Bad behavior and racism is groomed, nurtured and allowed at this establishment. DONT BANK on location to keep you afloat. People talk and this will not go unnoticed.Horrid behavior. When the waitress noticed we were Black she began to pay us no kind and proceeded to leave us alone for 45mins to enjoy the street fair. When she noticed we were leaving she and the manager smiled and brushed the concern and complaint off.
Came here for restaurant week with 4 friends. Staff is extremely nice. The ambiance of this cute French restaurant was comfortable and classy. The portions are big! The French onion soup was amazing! Best I’ve ever had. I also order fried lamb chops which were okay. I expected better from all the rave. All the deserts were amazing! Overall Marseille left a great impression with drinks, onion soup and deserts.
Came for a late dinner. I’ve been before. Love the vibe and the decor, and that it’s not a chain. We ordered light: I did French onion soup to start and the beef tartare as my main. He did tartare and the gnocchi as his main. You can’t serve an Onion soup unless you have good stock. This soup was watery and bland with the cheese doing all the work. The steak tartar was my main and his appetizer. I was fine. They must have been understaffed this night because service was erratic. First course was rushed. Second course and water service was hard to come by and slow. The gnocchi came out tasting manufactured and bland. Atmosphere and proximity to the hell that is Times Square is the only reason I’d come to this mediocre 1950s brasserie.
First time coming here for brunch and it was amazing. The staff were super friendly. Brunch was so yummy. We order Escargot and wow it had so much flavor had me wanting me more. Also, ordered steak and eggs with fries. The steak was so juicy and eggs cooked perfectly!
I visited rather at a later time- around 9pm. Staffs are very friendly and accommodating. I did order steak that was medium but it came out closer to medium rare.. and the meat smelled a little. The cocktail was nice and refreshing and loved the glass it was served with. For the price and the quality of food I am not sure if I would go back.. may give one more try.
Went for brunch. Food was good. Service was good. But it was way too hot to sit outside and the awning did not cover enough for all of us to be in the shade. I heard mixed reviews of this place but i would come back. Also make sure to tip over 30% since the workers are risking their life to serve you food!!!!
This was the coolest French Restaurant I’ve ever been to. This was not your stereotypical French Restaurant that was stiff & formal. The food was refreshing & fun to eat. The servers make you feel as if you’ve known them forever. The prices were reasonable & my pork was great.
A great french experience in the heart of the city, simple but very effective. The food is good, the service is attentive, they are great amounts of French items in the restaurants, misleading you in believing for a few minutes you could be in a Paris Bistro. they also have a great front outdoor space for the warmer days.
I tried escargot for the first time, reluctantly, & it was amazing. The beet salad with goat cheese was also perfect, as was their salmon, i had fresh fruit for dessert , everything was perfect ,the wine was perfect, the wait staff warm & inviting. Ive lost count how many times Ive been there over the years but it was the first time for my guest & she loved it as well. Highly recommend
Marseille never dissappints. Great for brunch, lunch and dinner. Fast for pre-theater. Great wine list, awesome cocktails, but the food is the the real showstopper. Classic authentic preparations of standard classics that somehow feel modern and new. Friendly service, great lighting, airy ambience. There are so many places to eat in NYC, but I find myself coming back here over and over again.
We made a reservation at Marseille for tonight because we had such a nice dinner there in November for our anniversary. Arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately. Then we sat at our table for 20 minutes while several servers passed by, ignoring us. We did not even get offered a glass of water. We finally got up and left and headed to Joe Allen where we were treated with respect and enjoyed a wonderful dinner.
Don’t recommend brunch. Doesn’t open till noon. Was sat out by the trash, fresh smell of feces while you dine. Waiters seemed to be sleep walking. Didn’t even bother providing things like butter for bread or salt and pepper for eggs. They make a brief appearance at the very end of the meal to see how it’s going. The brunch menu is a pretty middling offering for a bistro. Was extremely disappointed.
I had the most wonderful experience at Marseille! We were seated immediately when we arrived around 5pm at a gorgeous spot near the windows. We ordered the sangria and rosé spritz to start which came almost immediately. The sangria was strong and the rosé was light and well... spritzy! We got two breadsticks covered in everything bagel seasoning with butter in EVOO literally two seconds before our risotto appetizer came. Unfortunately the breadsticks were a bit too rough for me to eat but my friend didnt seem to mind. The risotto came out, with a beautiful yellow colored cream surrounding the risotto. I complemented the dish to the server because it was so amazing, and he told me that the dish changes with the season but the saffron always remain an integral part of the dish. Next we got our chicken grand-mere and spring pasta. YOU GUYS. MY GOD THIS WAS SO GOOD. The chicken was beautifully crisped, the potato gratin was delicious, the string beans were buttery, and the roasted garlic wasnt too strong in flavor so we even ate the cloves! The spring pasta was a light dish with a hint of spicyness. We actually realized it has pancetta, and I had mentioned to the server that the only meat I ate was chicken. We asked if it was indeed pancetta and he immediately took it back and brought out a fresh dish and the kitchen was so kind as to add chicken into it instead. For dessert, we ordered the profiterole which was huge and came with chocolate sauce on the side for us to pour over. The ice cream was delicious and it was soft and flaky! It was my first time having profiteroles and this was truly phenomenal. All in all a great meal and a great time.
Goodbye Old Friend:Was once a reliably solid dining experience in HK. Food and service are now spotty at best. At this price point, spotty is not acceptable. You can do better elsewhere in HK for dining and if you want a French bistro experience, head downtown to Odeon for better food and service. Never order the goat cheese tart. It will be lukewarm on the outside and cold in the middle. When you dont eat it, dont expect your server to ask why or to expect a refund.A sad diminishment of a once stand out restaurant in the HK neighborhood. Limited menu, potentially good service, unreliable quality.
They have a nice atmosphere and good food. The quality of the food is by far better than most in the area. The steak is a must . Once their fries were not up to par with what they normally serve, the waiter didn’t address the issue correctly but the manager made up for it in a dessert. Which was acceptable.
They are open for breakfast! I stumbled upon this place by total mistake and am so glad I did! The savory quinoa bowl I ordered was one of the best things I’ve EVER eaten for breakfast. The toast and strawberry jam, as well as the coffee, was also fantastic. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Johnny, my waiter. So attentive and sweet, he took care of everything I needed without me having to ask. All of the staff was very kind. If you want a nice, quiet place to eat breakfast and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the hidden gem you’re looking for!
Worst service ever. The lady ignored all of our requests, gave us the wrong dish, and rarely came to our table. We didn’t appreciate her service and gave her a 13% tip. She ran to us asking for more tip, asserting 18% is the bare minimum. Yea, but that’s for good service right? She also said something that are extremely discriminatory and rude (knowing that we are foreigners). This must be the worst servant I have ever ran into in my life.
Came here looking for a nice quiet spot for Saturday brunch -- a lot of the brunch spots in Hells Kitchen tend to be very lively but we wanted something more sedate and conversation-friendly. We were very pleased with the result: the food was tasty, fresh and well-prepared, and the service was courteous, professional and speedy. We live in the neighborhood and will keep Marseille in mind more often.
We’d been excited to try this place for a while. Unfortunately it was just Okay. Food was fine but the onion soup came out lukewarm. Service was not very good. Our server did not ask at any time during the meal how the food was or if we needed anything more. She also didn’t ask if we wanted another drink. Compared to the attentive service she gave to the table behind us, it was quite disappointing. Too many places in NYC to go back here again.
Atmosphere, service, and menu were great for a pre-show brunch. Though most of our food was good, the Eggs Benedict came out with way over-cooked poached eggs, which is a big no-no in my book, especially when your paying over $20 for the dish. Waiter replaced one of them and offered to take half off the item off the bill. Check came with the full item price. Decided not to push it since we had to get to the show. Will go elsewhere next time.
I do not recommend anyone make a point of going specifically to this restaurant unless you’re nearby for a show and it’s out of necessity. I was sincerely surprised at how little flavor there was in both of our appetizers (pâté and salad) - overwhelming water and salt was all we could taste. I dined at restaurants throughout the pandemic under less than ideal circumstances and experienced a variety of shortcomings but it was very daring of a restaurant to serve such tasteless food in a fully reopened state. There are much better restaurants that try much harder to be great places to dine - this place is just lazy. The food here is shockingly overpriced and under portioned - you’re much better off finding any other French restaurant north or south of this one. This is a restaurant sustained by the high volume of foot traffic nearby, not by good ingredients, menu options, or preparation. One star for a kind server, and one star because we didn’t get sick.
Came here for Christmas dinner and got Grinch’d. Our server barely spoke to us, admonished us that we needed to order everything at once, then completely disappeared until we called the manager. We had to call the manager because 1) the couple next to us ordered after us and was served first despite the fact that we ordered rare steak 2) our first course of lobster bisque and mushroom pasta was the water they boiled the lobsters in and pasta with no flavor and 3) both our our steaks came out cold and missing their sauces and my husband’s steak was 75% fat and gristle and burned on the actual steak part.Bottom line: stay away. This is a tourist trap that doesn’t care about the quality of your experience.
I visited this restaurant during restaurant week, Im giving them 1 star because the waitress was nice and the Manager quickly tried to rectify an issue with my food. The restaurant week menu was decent list and gave options. The food wasnt full of flavor. My roasted chicken had a piece of broken blue ceramic from one of their ceramic bowls, which lead me to believe their kitchen staff wasnt paying attention to the food prep. I didnt like the taste of the Froze which was recommended by the waitress. The goat cheese tart was good. My friend enjoyed her Sea Scallops (small portion), and said they were delicious. I do not recommend eating here and I wont be back.
We have eaten here multiple times on weekends and the service is stellar. We went on a Monday, half full dining room and the service was atrocious. Our table and two others had to ask for drinks after sitting there 20 minutes, had to find someone and asked to order, were handed off to 2 different waitresses, and the manager was sitting down despite coming over to apologize three times. Not what I would expect from here.
Hoping they were just having an off night: 0 star for service (waited *forever*, orders wrong, water glasses left empty, both server and helper *touched our silverware* while we were eating, overall sloppy service) and a solid 3.5 stars for the food (which is normally a 5), which arrived lukewarm on hot plates. The piece de resistance: being given the bums rush out the door bc they were suddenly closing early due to an alleged gas smell in the kitchen.Ive enjoyed Marseille before and hope to again, but if this were my first time, it wouldve been my last. $260 is too much to pay for mediocrity.
We went yesterday for restaurant week dinner, party of 5. Service was too bad, food average. 2 of us ordered Goat cheese tart as an appetizer, we got the dish and 5 min later they realized that was for another table… they didn’t hesitate to take those away and served them directly 2 tables near us!!!! After we have put the cutlery in the dish, and talk and breathe without mask on top of the food…. Are we crazy? In the middle of the pandemic? Then they run out of bread, we were short of water all the time…And the waiter didn’t speak a word of English. We expected a high end dinner and we were very disappointed, it seems they just want to make money on Rest Week, quality and service were poor….
Excellent food, beautiful atmosphere and amazing service! This experience was a real treat. They were able to create a socially distanced space while maintaining an elegant experience. The food was delicious and wonderfully made. From the moment you enter, the hostesses, wait staff, menu selection, to the meals cooked to perfection, you can’t help but fall in love with this restaurant. We will definitely be back!
Marseille is a wonderful place under normal circumstances: food is always tasty, staff friendly, andbthe warth and charm of the place makes you want to settle in to your chair and stay a little longer than usual. My visit the other day was a little different. They are a little understaffed (but what restaurant isnt these days). It did take multiple requests to just receive the beers that were ordered. Food took a bit longer than usual: short staffing issues evidently affect the kitchen as well as front of house. When we did finally get our food it was good, but not quite up to the usual standards. I can only speak for myself: I tried the Restaurant Week menu. The summer fruit/ melon salad was fresh and tasty but I really wanted more fruit and melon and less lettuce greens, but a very good start. I chose the scallops as the entree, and was disappointed. They were small (about 1.5 in diameter) and a little over cooked. Not to the point of being dried out, but with a solid search to the top and bottom. Some may like that hard edge, but I prefer a softer bite. The manager did serve us a complimentary round of rose Cava to finish our meal, and that was a great touch. He is very aware of what he is facing, and clearly wants people to have a good ending impression. I will go back, for sure. Not because of the Cava, but because I know what the place is like when running on all cylinders and delivering what we want.
Terrible service. Just terrible. I used to love this place, but now theyre a mess. I know its Covid times, but servers were literally wandering around with food in their hands not knowing which table to take them, there was a hair in our butter, and the mediocre, pricey food took forever. The manager was also inept. Will not go again.
I’ve been to the restaurant several times from October 2020 until 3/21/21. The food is good, but I loved the unlimited mimosas. However, the last time that me and my boyfriend went for brunch; we had a not so good waiter. This waiter passed our table multiple times, knowing we had empty glasses. We continued to watch and observe him, we even tried getting his attention. We eventually called the manger over, and told him the situation. The manager ended up serving us our drinks the entire time we had left. My boyfriend and I did end up leaving. The energy was awkward to be in. We even tipped the waiter, and he returned the tip. I kindly returned the money to my wallet.
A lot of other reviews MUST BE A LIE… There is no way in hell this food is delicious. This place is a joke. The 1 star is an over achievement. Do not waste your time here.We ate the Turkey and Salman, along with Cesar and Tuna tartare (which was salmon because they ran out of tuna… smh) and WHO THE HELL GRILLS ROMAINE LETTUCE FOR CESAR?!? Disgusting!!!!The salmon was tasteless, literally no seasoning on the salmon, just placed into some oily green sauce which didn’t help it either. It’s disappointing when you have Culinary Institute of America in NY… An embarrassment to NY!The Turkey was dry and the sides it came with were also not seasoned. It looked like they really didn’t care about anything or anyone bedsides themselves and trying to make a dollar or two… NEVER IN MY LIFE WILL I EVER COME BACK TO THIS PLACE!!!!!
What a gem of a place in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen in NYC. It was raining and my husband and I wanted to stop to stay dry and have lunch in the meantime…WOW we are so glad we did. The food was wonderful! I had the croque madame and my husband had the steak frites. Both absolutely delicious (we both have spent a significant time in the south of France) Our waiter Istvan was PERFECT! Andrew the barboy was also excellent. They were both Attentive, friendly and super nice. Would definitely recommend!
We had booked for restaurant week. After we were seated and after much confusion from several staff members, we were told the restaurant week offer was not available at the time we had chosen and were directed to more expensive options. There was no reference to these restrictions on the restaurant week website, Open Table or indeed Marseille’s own online restaurant week menu.
Indoor dining is back in nyc and this beautiful restaurant was perfect for us to dine in after really long time in nyc! Oyster happy hour was great, oysters were super fresh and can’t beat the price. Ordered appetizers and entrees were incredible and wine by the glass selection is great. Prices are great for the quality and ambiance, service is top notch. Must for fine dining at affordable prices in NYC!
Dinner last night before seeing Come From Away was above average. The wait staff is courteous attentive but never over bearing. The food was excellent, we had the Salmon special. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere lively but not noisy. We loved it there and will go again.
My wife and I came here for Valentines day where they had a prix fixe menu. The atmosphere was perfect with classy decorations, dim lighting, and candles with flowers on every table. They also took good precautions for COVID with temperature checks at the door and plexiglass dividers between all tables. We both got the scallops appetizer and filet entree. The food was incredible. Each dish was thoughtful and creative. They also had a good cocktail and wine menu.We will definitely come back as the food, service, and experience were very memorable.
Im french and it’s the worst restaurant in NYC ! Dont go there it’s overpriced. The customers think it’s good because they feel like it’s a fancy restaurant with good french food but it’s not, and they like to act like they know something, but really the food is disgusting. I always finish what i eat but this time it wasn’t possible. They really don’t know how to make french food except the desserts. This restaurant only works because Americans dont know what real french food is like, and they go there to act like fancy people. I swear that nobody in france would recommend this restaurant, dont go there if you like good food, save your money
Excellent! My wife and I got to the restaurant early, had drinks at the bar while we waited for the rest of our family to arrive. The bartender could not have been nicer very engaging and helpful. Once seated our waiter was great guiding us through our meal choices and wine pairings. Needless to say the food was fantastic, perfect portions of, Trout, Salmon, Hanger Steak, Mussels are all excellent dishes. Enjoy!
If you are looking for excellent casual French cuisine you couldnt ask for better than Marseille. The food is delicious and expertly prepared giving it a deliciously authentic taste. The wine list is not extensive but there is more than enough selections to find a perfect pairing. There is also a full bar and specialty drinks available so there is more than enough drink options to suit any taste. And if you have any room left there is a small, but delicious dessert menu. All this plus the outside seating and youre as close to being on Paris as you can get without leaving the city!
Great spot for a lovely breakfast. Excellent baked goods, particularly the orange scone. Many restaurants these days suffer from service that doesnt live up to their food, but that was certainly not the case at Marseille. The staff was most attentive and friendly. Will most definitely be back.
Good food, wonderful waitstaff, never rushed. Everything I have had here from brunch to dinner: oysters, French onion soup, Grilled octopus, scones, mushroom and eggs in a light brown sauce over bread, french toast, everything-was amazing. The price is reasonable. You leave looking forward to your next visit.
Great location, food, and staff especially Prince.Loved the steak frites and oysters and le pomplemouse.Very fun Sunday brunch!!Update: Just ate at marseille last weekend. Def not up to their usual standards. The bouillabaisse for two needed something and the arrangement was awkward.
A friend recommended we try dinner at Marseille, but when stumped for a spot for breakfast in Time Square we thought we’d give it a try. We were not disappointed! Marseille is a 5 star restaurant in every way. White tablecloths, bright, airy, comfortable seating. Johnny M provided us with outstanding service, and gave us wonderful suggestions. Be sure to try the fresh croissants. We also enjoyed our fluffy French omelettes, bacon, and plenty of delicious coffee. All at a surprisingly reasonable price. We will certainly be back for dinner! Hope Johnny will be there to wait on us.
I thought this was going to be a tourist trap pre theatre restaurant, but I was so wrong. It was great! They did everything right - delicious fresh oysters, perfectly medium rare steak, fresh bread, buttery but not soggy escargots, good wine list, good service. Even the ambiance was right - buzzing but not loud, not crowded. It’s a traditional place, with traditional french bistro food, delivered flawlessly. Highly recommend.
Be sure to put this on your restaurant list when youre in Manhattan. An amazing wine list, great service, and the food is wonderful. The atmosphere is comfortable and unpretentious, but still respectable. Give yourself enough time to enjoy the food....this isnt the place to scarf down a plate if youre in a hurry. Reservations are recommended for evening dining.
The best food I have ever tasted. My first taste of escargot set an extremely high bar which I doubt any restaurant will ever exceed. My main course of Smoked Salmon Tartine totally satiated my all of my senses. Visually a beautiful presentation, a medley of delectable flavors perfectly orchestrated to satisfy my palate. The attentive waiter worked extremely diligently to meet all of our need. The general manager visited our table and other tables to assess our satisfaction.
Great French bistro. We ate outside, but the interior looked like it was modeled after an everyday French cafe. The service was impeccable, and the food was perfect. My chicken was juicy and moist, the skin was just rught, but the highlight was the roasted garlic. Also great escargot. And the seeded bread rolls at the top of the meal, with the butter and oil to dip into, were tasty.
I had the best croissant of my life here and the waiter Johnny,as well as all the staff but especially Johnny, was a sweetheart! We had mimosas, which are made with freshly squeezed OJ, Lorraine omelet(delicious) and please dont forget to order the ginger cookies. I promise you wont be disappointed. Coffee is great too.
Just moved to the neighborhood and stopped by Marseilles for breakfast. Let’s just say it’s a MUST! I ordered the Frittata Americaine with a cappuccino and it was exceptional. I might opt out of making breakfast at home! Amazing environment as well and comfortable as I sometimes eat out alone. The staff is incredibly warming and attentive.
We went there for a nice Sunday brunch and we werent disappointed. We were seated outside but it was just too hot of the sun beating on us. They quickly satis at an indoor table with plenty of air conditioning. The coffee waa delicious and the omelets we ordered were exceptional! Didnt think you could do much with an omelette but every single bite was just delicious. Great place for brunch!
Although from outside it looks like mediocre diner, once I got inside I was pleasantly surprised. Very nice classical French restaurant with a hint of Mediterranean cuisine. We got some items from brunch menu and some from the regular menu. Everything was quite good and served in reasonable time.
Had brunch at the bar. The service was terrible. The bartender blamed everyone and didn’t take responsibility when the order was wrong. My partner had to wait a good 20 minutes for her food to be recooked. When the bill came there was no compensation for the trouble. The food was good but the service is not worth it.
Comment dit-on “Ah-mazing”?!? Second time visiting New York | 1st time at Marseille. My girlfriend and I dined in for Valentines Day and LOVED it! Food was delicious, service was outstanding and the host even greeted you with roses at the doorway! 5 Stars Highly Recommend!
Great oysters with a happy hour special from (I believe) 3-5, and 9-close. Try the jalapeno sauce for the oysters for sure.We sat at the bar and the staff was friendly and helpful. The place looks a bit fancy but it seems very laid back but with great service.Cant comment on the other food or drinks.
Staying at the Marriott Marquis... asked the Concierge for a brunch recommendation .... they suggested Marseille ....so off we went. Food was good .... service also good. We didnt get anything authentically French to give it a fair 5 star rating but the omelettes and French toast were great. The atmosphere was typical NYC and packed ....as all the good restaurants are! Definitely should try it if ya havent yet!
We were a party of 6, requesting a 7:30pm dinner. The restaurant impressed us with their professionalism by calling us to reconfirm, and to make sure we didnt need expedited service for the theatre. The service was attentive, not rushed or intrusive, the food delicious. We were able to enjoy our meal, and our own company.
Fabulous experience! Birthday luncheon at Marseille was a true delight. Lovely dining space, delicious food, but mostly it was Johnny, our waiter, who made for such a special day. Attentive, kind, helpful with wine selection and patient with our group. We will definitely be back again!!
Another excellent meal at Marseille! Im not a seafood enthusiast but I stepped out of my comfort zone and had the tuna tartare with avocado and the grilled octopus appetizers. The octopus was tender and very well seasoned; the tuna melted in my mouth. My entree was roasted chicken with pistachios swiss chard and a raisin sauce. Delectable!I finished my meal with the goat milk cheesecake. The accompanying fig and blueberry melange was the only off note- it was salty. The service and ambiance were excellent. I would recommend it for a special occasion, for groups or a romantic dinner. The noise level can make conversation a bit challenging but the experience is worth it!
What an incredible find! Lovely candlelit ambiance, not too noisy. Moules and frites my companion ordered was very good, my pasta dish with Fall mushrooms was excellent. Desserts are worth saving some room for! Top notch, excellent service. Great place for a group or a date- a must try!
We had breakfast here on a rainy day where all the diners around were packed. I’m so glad we ran into it. Incredible food. Attention to detail in every item served. Great bread, fresh croissants, buttery and warm brioche, perfectly cooked eggs, potatoes are to die for with caramelized vegetables. Espresso is a must. Don’t miss it, truly a gem for brunch.
This could be one of the best restaurants in Manhattan. This place is hard to get in to make a reservation. Its a highly exclusive place. My friend knew someone that knew the owner so we got a reservation. This place is probably one of the most highly acclaimed restaurants in NY city right now. They have one of the most delicious steaks I have ever eaten. And they are known to be one of the best steak places in NY city right now. You may have to know someone to get a reservation, as someone said it may be invite only for now. The place is small and its like sitting in someones personal home.
This is a typical touristy Theatre district restaurant. The service is great. They do an excellent job of keeping close attention to the tables while maintaining a distance so you can really enjoy your food and company. The scallop appetizer is not worth it I would definitely go for any other app. I had the Chicken Gran Mere and my friend had the Tuna Nicoise and both were really really good. There is enough to take home. The scalloped potatoes are devine. I would definitely get dessert.
Took my daughter and her friends here on a weekend for her 16th birthday - she wanted a French atmosphere and this fit the bill nicely. Not a bad walk from Times Square. We had the table right near the door, but had a view of the whole restaurant. Its a tight fit but the charming all the same. Food was very good and timing of the meal was well paced, we did not feel rushed or dragged out. Had an enjoyable time and would go again.
To be honest, it was just ok.. food was decent. But I got the raviolis, and the portion was very small. Like 9 raviolis. Other meals were much bigger. They tried to recreate a French brasserie look but they kind of didnt succeed. Then for a restaurant called Marseille, I was disappointed to not find any specialty from there such as Bouillabaisse on the menu.Last fault: photos from the Paris subway in the restroom. Really?!
I was there for my birthday. I liked a lot the food; the escargot were delicious. Our waiter was nice. But I dont like the hostess which show us the table where to sitt and told that you have only 2 hours to eat your food. Because other customers will come. And I dont like when someone there, maybe the busboy almost thrown in my face a plate with some cookies and a candle. At other restaurants ; the waiter will come with the plate and sing to you. But this behavior made me not wanted to go back there.
Came here during lunch hour to enjoy the Restaurant Week special. I have to say the food is decent but the service is lackluster.I had the beets with corn salad and it is light and refreshing. I also tried my coworkers Salmon Roulade and it was a unique combination but great. My entree is their Diver Scallops. I had 3 big scallops on nice puree sauce and spring carrots. I really like my dish and was full after it surprisingly. For dessert, I ended with a Chocolate Torte. It was not as good as most chocolate cakes I have had because the cake is too dry for me.Overall, the food is decent for a French Bistro type of restaurant. However, our waitress was kind of slow. Slow to bring food out and slow to give us the check. The restaurant was not even busy! Maybe she was trying to keep it like in France where everything is slow and relaxed?
We have eaten here many times, generally post-theater. Despite NY being the city that never sleeps, it can actually be limiting to find a place where the kitchen is open at least until midnight since we like to eat after the theater. Marseille fills the bill there. I find the food somewhat overpriced but not too bad considering the neighborhood. Decor is very nice. Cocktails are good and the food is generally very good as well, if not inspiring. On our most recent visit the server was excellent. Generally not crowded late and we can get right in.
Weve been coming here for years. Last year we noticed a downturn, smaller portions, food so-so. We were very pleasantly surprised by the bounce back. Blackened octopus was gorgeous with pureed carrots, favorite beans, peas and pickled garlic and basil. Huge portion of duck liver pate, and shrimp neglects so delicate it was basically a light tempura. Duck breast entree was a big beautiful breast with winter vegetables done just right. Service was efficient and polite. Lovely meal.
Have now had several brunches and several dinners here and I have to give it 5 stars. Ive only had seafood at dinner and egg dishes at brunch but they were all great. Its not a bargain but I think its worth it. If youre going pre-theatre, go earlier than you need to, its nicer when its not crowded and a little extra time between dinner and the show is a good thing. The entrées are all over $20, some over $30, which is a bit of a splurge for me, but I think it’s a worthwhile splurge.
I went here with friends back in 2015 and it was a fun place with great service and food. Just went this week and I was surprised at how bad the service was. The waiters were all in foul moods, wouldnt say more than a one or two word response to questions, and it felt like I had to work to get through my meal. One waiter started close to when we were about to leave and he was very nice to his table. We all said, how come we couldnt have had him as our waiter?. Food was still pretty good. Had the NY Steak and Frites.
Very nice place with some outdoor seating which I always love. I was with 3 friends and everything was enjoyable. I love to people watch at this location, the streets are very busy. Make sure to grab a cocktail or wine not really a beer spot. The chicken paillard was nice think and moist and I couldnt help but order some snails as well!Enjoy
This site is my number one site. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. Whenever I want to go to a delicious lunch, this place comes first to my mind. Great and food and a rich menu.professional staff, and great vibes. Also, the bill is affordable. I praise this place with no hesitation.

2022-02-12This place has $1.50 Oyster 🦪 Happy Hour from 3:30pm - 5:30pm and they are lovely! It’s a very quaint corner spot in Hells Kitchen. The interior has French, retro, parlor vibes. It feels like a great place for a high quality, reasonably priced date or meal with friends and family. Looks like they are doing some set up for Valentine’s Day too.

2021-12-26Went to Marseille for Christmas lunch and they didnt disappoint. Service was very attentive and super quick, but some of the atmosphere got lost due to the quick turnaround between courses. A minute or two between starters, mains and desserts would have made it feel more intimate. Can highly recommend the Onion Soup. Overall an enjoyable afternoon out.

2022-05-16The service was excellent and great. Everyone there was polite and professional. They prioritize your special needs if any. Fast order and you won’t be disappointed about their service.I ordered octopus as the appetizer but it was just fine. The main dish I had is LE GRANDE BOUILLABAISSE. It was very delicious and I’m glad I ordered it. Sangria was fine :) I think I’ll revisit this restaurant in the future.

2022-06-01Food was ok. The portion sizes were ridiculously small, considering how expensive each dish was. Service was kind and they were able to seat us without a reservation. I don’t think I would come back here again.

The food was ridiculously good! We were there around brunch and we were so lucky to be there at this time. I had their cappuccino and an omelette. So tasty! Now this spot is a staple for me when Im in the area.

2022-04-21Outstanding, delicious food. Love the oyster happy hour, they were huge! The goat cheese tart was decadent. The branzino is perfect portion and the grilled octopus was cooked and seasoned flawlessly.Definitely save room for dessert, the yuzu basil panna cotta was ordered because it sounded so unique, and it did not disappoint. A surprising blend of flavor and texture.Louis A was our waiter and couldn’t have been more attentive and welcoming. A++ to him, he was wonderful. Thanks, Louis!

2022-01-27Came here for restaurant week, would love to give it a 4 star for good service and decent food BUT at the end of my meal there was a piece of GLASS the size of my thumb in my dessert. Thank got it was not sharp; I already had it in my mouth, thought it was part of the dessert but when I spit it out it was a glass, How dangerous it is. The manager came and apologized and waived my portion of bill but it definitely ruined the whole mood, still wondering if I had swallowed any small piece already.Apart from the bad experience; the food is a little blend, tuna tartare is not salty at all, the aioli basically just cream it doesnt complement the tuna well. Branzino is crispy on the skin but still not salty, cauliflower was a bit undercooked still taste raw in the middle. I had the Panna Cotta for dessert, well it was good until I had the piece of glass in my mouth.Overall not a good experience except the service. Prob wont come back again.

2022-06-14Delicious French food served in a restaurant that feels like a real Parisian bistro. Love that they had a pastis service on offer with the ice and everything. Steak was delicious and the creme brulee was on point.

2022-06-17Every time I visit the city in June I take advantage of their happy hour blue point oysters. What a deal. I gorge myself on them! I’ve also had their escargot and onion soup and have always been pleased.
