Marshalls & HomeGoods in other cities:
The Camillus location is near our real estate brokerage so we visit this location often to put together baskets for our home buyers and sellers closing gifts. As a realtor this place is the best. They always have a unique and create of array of products available. The store is clean clean the staff is friendly. This place is #1 in our book.
Marshalls has really great finds. The staff is youthful and friendly and unlike most retail stores, I dont feel like Im inconveniencing them by asking them a question. I understand that working in retail is difficult but you can at least put a smile on your face while youre thinking in the back of your head that you hate me LOL and the people that work at Marshalls are very good at making it seem like Im not annoying them even though I know I am because I similarly hate people. Anyway, they are good people!
I visited Marshalls on weekday at noon, for the purpose of returning two online purchases. There was a very long line, but I admit that it moved quickly. Before long, I was in front of a cashier, who immediately called for assistance, as she had no experience with online returns. The service I received was quick and efficient.
Great Marshall always have lots of new items there Italian foods and health food section are great you can even get really good quality supplements here to great discount. Also pet friendly. I believe that this location is much higher quality with much better staff than the Erie Boulevard location.
To be clear, this isnt a Marshalls, it is a Homegoods. This means higher prices as well as the same general selection of what Marshalls has but at 20% more than what youd find at Marshalls. They also dont check returns it seems. I had a weird situation yesterday where we wanted a lamp but it didnt have a price tag. After pressing the get assistance kiosk several times and getting no response I found a floor worker, who then found another floor worker who actually wanted to help but needed a manager. The manager said to check the bottom and they then stated it was priced underneath. It wasnt, and we got accosted by the checkout child as to who priced it, with a manager apparently not being enough. The 14 year old cashier then barely knows how to scan an item, requires training during checkout on how to bag an item and then scoffs at us for not getting a credit card with them after we checkout. We finally get out of the store and bring it home to find out it doesnt work, immediately tripping our breaker, getting extremely hot and smelling like burning. During the pricing process we found out it was a return from the Dewitt store, and no one seemed to care enough to test it out before putting it on the floor again.
This was my first visit and I had a good experience. I was looking for a good quality picture frame that could hold three 4x6 photos. They had many more options than stores such as target, walmart, and Michaels. The prices were much better that at the craft stores for good quality products.
Im finding that the Marshalls store in Fairmount fair is carrying less and less in the departments that I usually want to shop in. Their shoe department has declined as has womens clothes. I seem to end up just buying Knick knacks or household goods there lately. Their prices are great, so I do keep going back. I also used to be able to find purses but that department seems to have diminished also.
If I could give their customer service a zero o would but a 1 is the lowest to score. Horrific for so many reasons let me begin by describing on November 10th a 200 lb. Dog was being walked into the store with his owner. I know what you are thinking..it must be a service dog....well no it was not. The dog was barking at the patrons and at one point the owner took the dog outside. He proceeded to come back into the store with the dog which once again began to aggressively bark. This was not a service dog..no tags... no badges and certainly not calm. I asked the clerk if dogs were allowed..she said oh yes marshalls allows dogs its their policy. Dogs? I said ..hmmm no I dont see bring your dog to Marshalls. I am highly allergic to dogs and the fact that this was taken lightly is upsetting. I later called into the store to speak with a manager and she said the other manager asked if the dog was a service dog and the owner said yes. Well saying yes is easy...shouldnt they be marked with tags? I dont believe that was a service dog not for one minute. The story goes on with just a lot of back and forth basically they were covering up the issue of allowing the dog to bark at customers..child and stay without proper tagging. What a shame. I hope the dog can pay their salary because they just showed me who was more important. Please bring back customer service and stop and put procedures in place and follow them. Your truly...

2022-06-29Returned a $90 kitchen trash can (I kid you not) my Mom bought earlier that was too big for her kitchen & too heavy for her to lift (I kid you not). We were greeted as soon as we walked in by the cashier closest to the doors. Very friendly, courteous & helpful. She let us deposit the mini-dumpster by the register & let us go back to pick out a more practical waste receptacle. We found what we needed (lots to choose from) & when we got back to the registers the same wonderful employee helped us right away, allowing us to skip the long line (Moms on her mind 80s & walking & standing are getting more difficult). Anyway, she refunded the difference and sent us on our way with a smile and a song (kidding, no actual song). I was quite impressed with the customer care we received. Ive found its not the norm in a lot of retail establishments. Whoever is running the show in the Fairmount Marshalls is doing a bang up job. Ill now shop there in the future & I freakin hate shopping.

2022-04-20Love Marshalls, but today I witnessed a robbery in progress. Two men leaving the store with hundreds of clothes in a cart. No one did a thing! Women shopping like its normal.. right in front of us this took place and the workers just have to let them go out the door. Is this what our society is coming to, just put up with bad behavior. Im so sad to today, this is not the world I want to live in. I was so upset I couldnt shop.

2022-05-29We go there for the dog toys, almost half the price compared to Petsmart. When you have an anxious chewer, this is a savings. Not crazy about the checkout process. Everybody waits in long line and waits for the next available cashier

2022-05-05Store is large and open. Lines are very long and the check-out time was longer than most Marshalls/HomeGoods locations but the staff was friendly and apologized for the long wait.

2022-04-05Great store, with some awesome deals. The odd thing is that my account shows me enter the store 2 times spaced 55minutes apart. Weird because I only entered one time.

2021-12-20Prices seem super high for the quality youre getting. I stopped in looking for a couple small tables for the living room. The quality of the furniture is very low. A good amount of the things they had on the floor were already broken, chipped, scratched, wobbly, dented, or flimsy. An upholstered chair that I sat in to test it wobbled and creeked like it was going to collapse at any second. It was a fully upholstered accent chair with arms and weighed all of maybe 10 pounds, if that. It cost $350!? It looked nice but for that price, I would actually want to sit in it and not have to throw it out after a few months. There are so many quality options out there at that price point. Every end table they had was either fake plastic wood or already chipped, scratched, or busted (at least rickitty enough that it would have been broken after a couple uses). One table with a marble top almost broke my foot. It was a small table and the top was flush with the frame and a reasonable person would have assumed it was securely attached. I tilted it to find the price sticker and the glue holding the top onto the frame gave out (no screws or fasteners) and the slab slid off the frame. I caught it before it hit the floor (or my foot) and got chipped. I tried to find a staff person to let them know but couldnt find anyone. I just leaned it against the frame on the floor so the next person didnt make the same mistake. The styles they had were on point for current trends but everything was so cheaply made.To be clear, I know some folks cant afford high end furniture and its great that there are options for lower prices for contemporary trends out there. But the prices here are way out of whack for what youre getting imo. At least on the furniture. I dont make a lot of money so I cant afford to pay those prices and then have to replace stuff every couple months. Maybe if I had a lot of disposable income and wasnt concerned with quality, I would cycle through furniture like that but thats not the case. Now the good stuff. The kitchen section was amazing! Tons of quality utinsels, oils, condiments etc. They even had stuff I usually have difficulty finding like allulose. All at reasonable prices. Ill definitely be back to spend time in that department when the holiday crush is over. Name brand and good quality items. I found a bunch of stocking stuffers but when I saw the checkout line of, maybe 30 people, winding back and forth through a huge maze of impulse buy racks, I left my cart and walked out but Ill be back after the holidays.
