We love going to Marti Martial Arts. Sensei is amazing with children of all ages - he commands respect and hard work in a supportive, positive way. Our son looks forward to going to karate, and I appreciate the flexible schedule and daily classes.
Marti Martial Arts Academy has been instrumental in providing my daughter Lauren with solid martial arts instruction but more importantly how to be respectful, courteous and thoughtful to others. Over the past 6 years Sensei Marti has run an exceptional school that is enables children of all ages to tap into their potential and build the confidence they need to succeed. Using a tough work ethic and positive reinforcement, Sensei Marti has established a best in class martial arts academy. I highly recommend this school both for children and for adults looking to reestablish core strength.
My son has been with Marti MMA since Sept 2017 and continues to mature and get stronger in the martial arts. I love seeing him practice his kata at home so I know hes really enjoying it. Sensei and his staff have been great since day 1 taking my son in and making him feel at home. Even though hes only 8, he volunteered to be a class assistant all on his own. If youre looking for a good dojo with a great Sensei and staff look no further than Marti MMA. Weve already referred our good friends there and you wont be disappointed.
We are so grateful that we found Marti Martial Arts Academy for our son. He has practiced at other martial arts centers before, but this is the first time that he is motivated to go multiple times a week and enthusiastically demonstrates all that he has learned to anyone who will watch! We LOVE Marti Martial Arts Academy! My older son is seven and we switched from another dojo about 2 years ago and could not be happier! Sensei Jose and his sempais are absolutely amazing with the kids. Sensei incorporates character development and discipline into each session so while the kids are learning karate, they are also gaining invaluable lessons they can apply outside of the dojo. We have seen improvement in our son’s fitness level, self-confidence and discipline.Sensei Jose loves what he does and it shows! The kids are always excited for class, and he makes sure each child gets the attention and instruction they need.Our son is always so honored when Sensei asks him to demonstrate a technique for the class and especially when he is asked to sempai for a younger class. Sensei Jose does a great job at boosting the kids’ self esteem; he is constantly praising them which encourages them to work even harder.Lucy, the dojo manager is so friendly and helpful, she adds such a warm, family feeling to the dojo.There are so many wonderful things about this dojo. This place is a hidden gem! No surprise that they won the Best of Westchester Award!
Look no further, this is hands down the BEST martial arts academy! Our son Lucas has been enrolled in Marti Martial Arts Academy for the past year and a half and we could not be happier with the results! Sensei is extremely dedicated to his students, providing them with excellent martial arts training, as well as fostering positive attitudes and behavior. Lucas loves going to classes and looks forward to the different challenges each week. We have definitely noticed improved self confidence and increased focus both at home and at school. Both my son and I started training at Marti Martial Arts Academy early this year. My son was involved in other sporting activities prior to joining this program but nothing has held his excitement as much as being a part of this amazing dojo. I can also say the exact same thing for myself, as I have spent many years at the gym, but have never achieved the milestones (both mentally and physically) that I have achieved now since joining this program.Sensei Jose Marti is not only a highly skilled and exceptional martial artist, but he also has a way of connecting with each and every child (and parent) that walks through the doors. He’s kind and understanding, and gives his all to each student. He sets a high standard for what he expects from his students; respect, dignity, integrity, but achieves that by connecting to his students, and taking the time to be a guide imparting life lessons. Teaching integrity and respect is a huge part of his program.The classes are taught in a way that’s fun for children of all ages and yet challenging enough that they reap the benefits of the physical aspect of the program by becoming stronger, and developing self confidence once conquering those challenges. I’ve seen such a tremendous change in my son’s behavior, in his physical activity level, and in his self confidence. He now aspires to achieve his black belt as he’s been inspired by Sensei and all of his fellow students to reach that goal. The atmosphere is one of belonging, where he has bonded with other children who have the same aspirations and has formed friendships.I am so grateful we walked through those doors, and both my son and I are proud and excited to see what we will be able to achieve by being a part of Marti Martial Arts Academys program.
Best dojo!My younger son is 4 1/2 years old and has been receiving physical therapy twice a week for over 2 years. When his PT recommended karate classes, I wasn’t sure if he would be able to keep up with the class due to his hypotonia and his shy personality. I have seen tremendous improvement in not only his strength and coordination but also his self confidence and social skills. His PT is so impressed with his progress as well!Sensei Jose and his sempais are absolutely outstanding with the children. The dojo manager, Lucy, is so sweet and friendly, the kids love her and she keeps the dojo running smoothly.The dojo is a nice, clean, large space and the classes have a good number of children which encourages teamwork and socialization. The sensei and sempais are always able to give each child the attention and direction they need, even if some children may require a little extra attention at times. Sensei Jose makes each child feel special and important and they absolutely adore him for that! My son cannot wait to get on the mat so he can show Sensei how strong he is getting. I highly recommend this dojo for parents seeking to improve their child’s strength, focus, self-confidence and overall well-being.
I love Marti Martial Arts Academy. We came here to learn Self Defense techniques after my son experienced bullying.Sensei Marti has welcomed my son with opened arms and I cant thank him and the team enough for what they have done for him so far. He has already learned SO MUCH and gained more confidence in being able to defend himself than I have thought would be possible in that short time. My son will continue to take part in several seminars and training and love the atmosphere and people a lot - you join a family here for sure!If you look for a place to learn Martial Arts, Self Defense or truly any kind of combat sports - look no further. My son has been going to Marti Martial Arts Academy for about two months and he absolutely loves it. This is the first time Ive seen him show this much consistent interest in an activity. He is enthusiastic about going to class every day, practices what he learns at home, and is so proud when he earns a stripe on his belt. He loves and respects Sensei. I have been very impressed with Senseis rapport with the students and appreciate the way he teaches them the importance of being a good, kind, caring, respectful person. I cant recommend the program enough!
Sensei Marti and his entire team are amazing. When we first signed up our son for karate class, I was a bit skeptical. My son is now in his 4th year, and loves class. Soccer, baseball, and other sports have come and gone, but he continues to love Sensei Marti and all the classes he takes. Sensei is incredibly patient with our wiggly, giggly little boy, and we see his patience and focus increasing. We HIGHLY recommend Marti Martial Arts!
Sensei and Senpai Molet are very supportive and patient to my son. My son is more confident now and have matured quickly because of the discipline he learned from his karate school. I receive more praise from my sons teacher and often gets alot of stars because of his hard work and cooperation in his academics. At home, my son is more of a big brother not only to his sibling but also to me and to my wife. He always reminds us about his future activities and work diligently towards his goal, which is to be the greatest student ever. Thank you and more power to Marti Martial Arts Academy.
We love Marti Martial Arts. Our kids Emma and Brendan have thoroughly enjoyed the classes (particularly kickboxing) and have really improved during their time at the school. Sensei does a great job of being serious but making it fun, which is hard to do with martial arts. Our kids have really learned a lot.
We cannot say enough great things about Marti Martial Arts Academy. We brought our son there to see if they could help us with some behavior challenges we were having with him. Sensei Marti and his team were extraordinary. Between the guiding principles and the life lessons taught our son quickly excelled and learned a lot about self discipline! 5 plus years later we still love the Academy and the staff and we especially love how they care about the students and their family!!
Marti Martial arts is great! My son looks forward to going everyday. Sensei José is amazing with the kids and teaches them valuable lessons with his sage-like words that applies to everyday life. My son is learning to listen, to be disciplined, and be respectful.
My son has been taking karate classes at Marti Martial Arts for seven months and I could not be happier with his development during that time. He is building self-confidence and learning how to be a better person, all while improving strength, focus, and coordination and mastering some amazing skills. The five principles of the Dojo are easy for young students to understand, yet very powerful and applicable to any person of any age. The program is well-rounded and the results are fantastic. More experienced students are given opportunities to help with the beginner classes and it is truly amazing to see these lessons come full circle. Sensei Marti is an amazing role model for his students (and their parents). He has an incredible amount of patience and is able to connect with every child that walks through the door, knowing that every child walks in for a different reason. He is able to show them, through his own actions, that having a positive attitude is a critical aspect in shaping experiences and dealing with challenges. The manager is extremely accommodating and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure unbeatable client service. Five stars and two thumbs up!!!
Ive been a student at the academy for three years now and its one of the best experiences Ive ever had. The classes are fun yet push you to achieve your best, and the things Ive learned (self defense, karate skills) will definitely transfer to real life. The teachers are some of the best people Ive met - especially Sensei Marti - and always help you achieve your full potential. I really enjoy being a student at Marti Martial Arts.
Sensei Marti is an absolute professional, yet so down to earth and approachable! After watching him set such a great example for my son and for the other young students, I decided to sign up myself. Even though we live in Yorktown, we make the drive to Bedford Hills because we were impressed with the Sensei, his facility, and his principles. From the second we met him, we were impressed with his dedication to not only the martial arts, but the student as well. He took the time to get our son acclimated and comfortable with the dojo. Sensei measured our sons ability and motivation and even placed him in a more advanced class due to his maturity despite having never taken any classes before. He saw our sons potential and worked to nurture it, not contain it. Sensei is very dedicated to the growth of every student and greets each one and their parent(s) by name and with a smile. Our son has learned a lot in the last 3 months- coming home each time to eagerly demonstrate the new technique he has learned that day. He recently received his yellow belt and is excited to work towards his next one. We look forward to our son growing in strength and character at Marti Martial Arts Academy- a true gem in the community.
I am completely satisfied with this school. The environment is nurturing and focused. It is the place to come to learn not just martial arts but a multitude of other areas (like self-esteem, courage, self-control, strength, etc.) that are naturally embedded in the routines. The teachers are caring and extremely student-centered. There is a personal touch second to none. The Marti Martial Arts Academy definitely gets my vote for an Academy Award!! Thank you!!
My Son is in Kindergarten and started this year in the Dragon group. It is a wonderful program for the kids to learn about Martial arts but the goal of the program is far more reaching, Senseis highest priority is to teach self control, give respect to yourself and others, be positive and have good character.
Sensei Marti and his terrific staff (all trained by Marti himself) make Marti Martial Arts a top-notch facility. Beyond expert technique, Sensei teaches his students lifelong skills of self-control, discipline, respect, courtesy, and spirit. Beyond skills alone, children that train here walk away with self-confidence and a great community experience.
Sadie has found a perfect fit at Marti Martial Arts. She has always been strong, but Sensei has taught her to focus her strength, strengthen her core, and increase her awareness of her body and how it works.She has never been so excited and disciplined about an after school activity. Sadie is always excited to go to karate, and is incredibly motivated to excel. The connections Sensei shows his students between mind and body, and the way that translates into their lives outside of Karate, has been an invaluable lesson for Sadie.Sadie is a stronger, more focused, more disciplined, and most importantly more aware person since she has started. We cannot wait to continue to watch her grow. We are so grateful to have found such a special place and a passionate and caring instructor.
Sensei Marti has found the perfect formula for training in karate. My son has been attending the dojo for 5 years and in those 5 years has learned and had reinforced the importance of hard work, respect and goals. He used to be afraid to try new physical challenges and the physical conditioning from karate has strengthened his body and he is now surfing and snowboarding - two things he was always afraid to try. He knows that with commitment and practice he can accomplish anything.I kickbox at the dojo for cardio exercise. I have found kickboxing to be the best overall cardio and core conditioning. I would recommend Marti Martial Arts to all!
Sensei and his team have been great in running a well organized program focusing on critical issues that our young generation faces! My son has improved a lot with his concentration and mainly his ability to think before he acts! Good job MMA team!
Marti Martial Arts Academy is the best around. Ranging from the facility to the instruction of classic karate, no one is better. Sensei Marti is one of the, if not the most moral and strong man I know and I couldn t even begin to think of a better person that I would want to teach me or a friend. At the highest of levels, the best of the dojo are at the top of the pack with technical skill, technique, and respect. The level of dedication by sensei marti, sempi kim, sempi ryan, and all others in the dojo is uncomparable to any school you will find. I recommend his school over any other for karate.
My older child has attended MMAA from age 3. My younger child has literally grown up here. Martial Arts are about so much more than the physical (but, boy, are they fit). It teaches respect for self and others, responsibility, resilience and perseverance.
My son Ryan started as a 9 year old who was not good at sports and would become frustrated with himself since he didnt fit in with the suburban kids who were all active in various sports. He lacked confidence in himself and it was difficult to find an activity where he could progress at his own pace and be able to build self-confidence over time. Sensei got Ryan from Day 1 and helped him gain that confidence he was lacking and continues to help Ryan mature and remain grounded not only with martial arts training but also with discipline and respect for others. MMAA has been a wonderful part of Ryans life for almost two years and every week he looks forward to his sessions whereas when he tried soccer and basketball he often became frustrated and wouldnt want to continue. Ryan has found a place where he fits in and we are sincerely grateful to Sensei and the others who work so well not only with Ryan but all the other children who attend classes. I wish I could give 10 stars!

2022-01-06My almost 12 year old son started karate and kickboxing here a year ago and absolutely loves it. Sensei Jose is a fantastic instructor! He really helps the kids learn the techniques, teaches them discipline and builds their confidence. We’ve been very impressed. My son has added sparring and Brazilian Jiu jitsu and trains as much as he can. He enjoys it so much he even practices his katas at home on his own.

2021-08-17My son started coming to Marti Karate about a month ago. Sensei Jose is absolutely amazing. So great with the kids. His direction has helped my son with confidence and self control and it had shown outside karate. I am recommending this Karate studio to everyone who listens.

We love the positive environment where the are taught to seek good character, show strong spirit, practice courtesy and control their temper. They are learning that discipline now is freedom later. Thank you to Sensi and staff for giving our boys goals and confidence!! I earned a black belt years ago and I love the adult karate and kick box classes here. An amazing workout!!

2018-03-29My family enrolled my oldest son back in January 2018 and have loved going to Marti Martial Arts ever since. Sensei is amazing with the kids and teaches them how to be positive each and every day. Watching him build up our sons self esteem is one of my favorite parts of each class. 2017-06-16I cant say enough good things about Martis. This is the first organized class my son has taken and he is excelling at such a phenomenal rate. Not only has he become aware of his physical capabilities and improved his self confidence, he has also become more aware of important life lessons in building good character and showing courtesy and learning control.Sensei is a very special person who is absolutely amazing with the kids. 2015-02-02My young teen daughter has been doing karate here for over a year, and it has been a fantastic experience. The program offers great physical training and conditioning, and self-defense, and my daughter is much more confident. Even more important, though, Sensei Marti is an amazing leader. He stresses character development as much as physical training. He is a fabulous role model himself. He really cares about each student, and goes out of his way to help them grow. All of the staff are likewise excellent. I cannot recommend MMAA highly enough.

2020-09-25There is not enough that I can say about this establishment. I have a special needs son, who feels like this is the greatest place hes ever been. We had a terrible experience at a different school two years ago, and he was terrified to try again. Since meeting Sensei, my son has felt empowered, strong, and accepted into this establishment like hes been training for years. The other children are welcoming, and Sensei is skilled in art as well as delivery with everyone he interacts with. The students are incredibly receptive, and my son has focused like Ive never seen him do before. Sensei is also one of the best people Ive ever met, rich in values and knowledge. It is a highlight in my sons life. I highly recommend this establishment for children of all skill levels.

2017-04-08I am really happy that I enrolled my daughter at Marti Martial Arts. She was very hesitant in the beginning and now she loves going to Karate. She goes into class now with spirit and smiles. Her Sensei is phenomenal with these kids. It is apparent that his own life experiences drive him to really want to help his students thrive. The support staff are also kind and encouraging. I am starting to see positive changes in Gillians focus and confidence and she is really having fun. I look forward to seeing her test for yellow belt at the end of the month and watching her process continue.
