Rude and unprofessional staff. I asked to add egg to the paneer roll and the chef response was soo rude. The guy at the front desk also cooking in the kitchen- imagine the hygiene factor! Go there if you wanna waste your money for below average food and pathetic service! ✌️
Great Small spot. Food was really good and really affordable. Hard to come by places with good food and low price this is one of those. Had the chicken saag which was very good. It was a bit spicy and I ate a piece of pepper which was very spicy but besides that was tasty. For some reason the gave plastic utensils not sure why not metal.
I walked in asked for a menu the kid in the cashier as you see in the picture doing nothing he gives me an attitude rushing me to place my order, said he dont have a menu barley speaks english.I still took the chance and ordered chicken tandoori and chicken tikka masala he gives me 15min Estimate time had me wait 45 min and more the food is not even worth it. As u can see in the picture they barely have customers but the person in the cashier has an attitude when I walked in to ask If my food was ready, when I waited 45min already, very unprofessional and cashier need to be changed asap if the want customers to return the kid has a problem I think his foreign Mentality hasnt changed ... I recommend people to think twice to before ordering here
Great food and excellent customer service. We got the Paneer Tikka Masala(family style)and Goan Shrimp Curry(box). Both meals very flavorful and filling.Still cant decide which one I prefer getting: a box has more sides veruss family style which comes with more delicious curry. The cherry on top was the Mango Lassi, you haveeeeee to have it. Super yummy.
Paneer Bhurji was very sweet. When we asked the guy at the counter to change it, he misheard may be and told us that “ Paneer Bhurji is supposed to be spicy”. We told him that it is sweet. Then he asked us to wait and after that he never came back to us even though we were sitting right infront of him. When we asked what is the status, he said this is what they make and they will not change it. Pathetic food and worst customer service.
The people here are very sweet, but unfortunately I wasnt in love with the food. With all the glowing reviews, I was thinking it was going to be spectacular. The chicken vindaloo was so bland and it wasnt spicy, not even a little. The naan was also way too tough/chewy. I like the idea of the curry box, but for what you pay for ($13), the portion size was too small and like I said, it just wasnt all that tasty and I was really let down by the 0 spice level especially for a dish thats supposed to be so spicy.
I love this place! I come here every time I want the best Indian food in Manhattan. I am sure there are other good places for Indian cuisine elsewhere but this one is really good and a must-try place! It’s located near the beautiful West Village and Soho. The place is small but they have a couple of tables if you want to stay there to eat! Try it if you are in the city.
They are open for take outs. They follow the standard norm, no mask no food. Order samosa pav here and their rolls. Pav Bhajji is also a favorite. End your meal with a mango lassi and paan to sweeten your palate for eating delicious Indian spicy food. Pandemic hours of operation. Check before you plan your late night snack.
It was good. I tried it because they were on Mealpal. The lunch portion was reasonable it was good but not the best Indian food I have had. Its also super spicy/hot so if you dont like hot food do not do it. It a quaint place like most in that area. Not a lot of seating but the service was good.
Really cool hole in the wall Indian restaurant. Food is fantastic, portioned well, and prices arent bad either. The decor is spot on with its humor and the atmosphere is very relaxed. There are only three tables though, so if it gets busy you may have to find somewhere else to eat.
Masala Times is right up there with respect to being one of the best drunk food places on Bleeker Mcdougal area. Over the years, it has been my go-to place after a night of bar-hopping in West Village and Ive hardly ever been disappointed with the food.Amongst the positives, the food stands out and rolls back the years if youve craved for street food during your early years in India. The Paneer Bhurji hits all the right notes while Anda Bhurji and the other rolls arent far behind. The feeling of soft and crispy paneer melting in your mouth along with buttered paav is pure bliss and will take you back to the streets of Mumbai. The wall is decorated with a ton of quirky comparisons between Bollywood movies and Hollywood movies further adding to the fast food joint feel of this place.Amongst the negatives, theres very limited seating and isnt particularly suited for groups more than 6 unless youre trying to just take out the food. Also, the owner should do much better with a lesson or two in hospitality. Im pretty sure his uptight attitude would have affected this places business if not for the food.
I feel like a bit of a traitor as a loyal fan of the Kati Roll Company, but the achar chicken Kati rolls at Masala Times are sooo good. Theyre also a good size with a surprising amount of meat for the price! We also got daal and samosa Chaat and had no complaints about either.
This Bollywood themed restaurant is a unique and interesting find. The prices are good and serving sizes are large, but the food isnt very good. The best didnt resemble naan, but a defrosted slab of dough. The rice was also a little dry - I expected more from an Indian restaurant.
This is my absolute favorite Indian roll place. And its open till late too! Try their paneer bhurji roll: the paneer and masalas lend the filling great texture, its packed with oodles of flavor, and barely contained in the whole wheat (atta) paratha (a preference youll have to mention when you place your order). At the end of a long and tiring day - even caught in the snow that currently envelopes NYC - its just what I need. Members of the staff are always cordial. Their Bollywood-heavy playlist and decor doesnt hurt either. :)
Great and authentic flavors in all preparations and curries, the drinks are good and the chicken curry roll is far far ahead of anything that Kati Roll Company serves. You may be a tad dissapointed with the Paav (the Indian bakery buns) that comes with paav bhaji since there is no supply of that in the whole of United States any way, so dont factor that in( but if someone can bake it fresh that could a gamechanger in itself). The Bhaaji and the Mutton keema are good. Service is very polite. All in all the place would satisfy your desi cravings for sure.
Great food. Probably one of the best places to have Indian street food. Chicken bhuna roll is my personal favorite. They even have good vegetarian options. The only problem is shortage of space if you want to dine in. Especially on weekends its difficult to get a place to sit.
Ok, no ones going to win any points for ambiance here (many people do takeaway, probably for this reason). But the food is seriously legit. And cheap. Dont believe the guy who says the rolls are small; if youre an average-size adult youll be full with one roll and half an appetizer. Fantastic.
Self service Indian joint. Looks like fast food, but the preparation took as long as in a more upscale restaurant, if not longer. The food was good for the price, but not exceptional. The menu is pretty confusing, as its different from every other Indian restaurants menu, and they dont bother explaining things in detail.
Been wanting to try chicken tikka masala for awhile. Came here with my cousin for the Masala Times Greenwich Village (11am-3pm everyday) and it did not disappoint! The chicken and rice was everything! And the garlic naan! Omg! Soo good!! Sharan was so nice and helpful!! I definitely will be back!
I specifically told the cashier that I have a allergies towards spicy food. I understand Indian cuisine is spicy in general, but I asked him if there’s *anything* with meat that is not spicy, and he said he can make any dish not spicy. I told him again how I’m allergic and tried to be as sure as possible that he can make the food not spicy.I bought two wraps. Had one bite of each and returned both and when I explained that this was still spicy, even if it’s not spicy to him, he still tried to convince me that the food is not spicy.Over 24 hours later, I still have a red face, swollen face, and swollen mouth and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. The food might be good for people who can tolerate it, but do not lie to me just to sell me, especially with allergies present.
Came here for takeout. Absolutely horrid service, waited 30 minutes for a lamb burger before being told that they were out of lamb. They told us they’d give chicken instead, but that’d be another ten minutes. We ended up waiting forty minutes for a single burger that tasted mediocre and had bone in it. Would have been quicker to go to a sit down restaurant.
Just loved this place for the food, ambience and the fact that it is open till 5 am in the morning. We had the fish tikka, chicken malai tikka and lamb sheekh kebabs.Everything was very delicious, the chicken and fish were very tender and well cooked. Each starter is served with rice bread and some pickled onions which makes it more fulfilling. This place just gives you a total value for the money.
This place has become our favorite place for late late late night food grabs. Ive tried way too much on the menu now to be scared about what might not be good.We have tried: pav bhaji, bhuna chicken roll, mutton combo, chicken combo, tandoori combo, paneer bhurji roll and sides of dal chawal. Everything is good but dal chawal stole the show for me!They could probably do a lil better on more seating and a cleaner/well lit restroom.
Second time here in as many weeks, does not disappoint. They dont go crazy with their menu, but whatever they serve is delish! Have tried 5-6 different menu items - Samosa, Pav Bhanu, veg box, rolls all awesome and not watered down to suit the American palate.Highly recommend a visit or two if you are in the area.
Great food, but disorganized. After waiting for an hour, I didnt get a simple roll, even after multiple complaints where rest of the people in the group finished their meals. Apparently, the lender let someone else take my roll, and then spent 40 min to try and resolve it. Eventually, I had to take my voice and get a refund
If youre expecting this place to be a sit down nice restaurant, you are wrong. Its a place where you order your dinner box at the front and eat it for a few minutes and get out of there. The man at the front is not very nice at all, but the food is great. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and it was amazing. The naan is not as fluffy as you may be used to, but its still excellent.Read the wall about Hollywood v. Bollywood for some good entertainment.
We were not greeted on arrival or told whether it was table service or not. Was told food would be 15 mins tops, waited 40 mins and still was not served. Seemed more concerned with fulfilling delivery orders than the people sat in their restaurant. Asked for a refund and was given it.
Great Place. So far the best wrap Indian snack joint I have found in Manhattan. Believe me I am a cook and big foodie so you can take it seriously. If you are vegetarian - Paneer kati roll and Mango lassi finger licking good. But if you dont mind meat, their Keema Paav is THE dish to try.
Masala Times, a bollywood-themed, casual Indian restaurant offers exceptional food with cheesy names. The chicken malai kebab is my favorite, and amongst the best Ive had anywhere. The prices are very reasonable, there is sufficient seating, and they have all your favorites. The chicken box is a good value, if you want dal. I prefer to skip the sides and focus on the delicious meats and naan.
I was roaming the streets near my apartment the other day searching for some good take out. I was just on maps seeing what was nearby when I walked by this place. I walked by the door just as it opened and was turned into a cartoon character after smelling a pie resting on a windowsill. It smelled like the kitchen at my parents house after my mom was done cooking.I ordered the chicken tikka masala box which comes with rice, dhaal, and naan. The dhaal is pretty spicy so dont say you werent warned. The chicken tikka masala was delicious and was well balanced. It wasnt too spicy and the sauce was on the creamier side. The restaurant is well decorated and a decent size by NYC standards. The staff is also very friendly. My only issue with this place was that it is a bit pricey for what it is. I spent around $15 for the box and an extra naan.
Waited for 40 minutes. Did not have food, got a refund a left. Piss poor service. No one told us where to order or how long it would take and when asked said it would take 2 more minutes for a period of 20 minutes. If you want to waste an evening, be hungry and annoyed, go on down there.
His is our favorite food in New York during the vacation. We got take out twice, great salads, terrific soups, loved the yogurt cups and the fruit. Both of us are working our BMI back into the healthy range. With the help of Pret a Manger we have been able to keep our calorie intake in the desired range. Too bad we cant find these guys in California yet. Highly recommended.
Overpriced and plain. I ordered a chicken tikka masala for $13 and all I got were 3 small chicken pieces and a whole plate of rice with chickpea soup. The food was served in a plastic contained that was most likely frozen and microwaved. Now Im a huge fan of Indian food but unfortunately this place was a disappointment.
Review for Veg only -Food is not as good as Indian restaurants tried around New York. For me, it was the worst. But if you want to try Indian Food or dont have any other option, go to this place.I have been twice here.First time tried veg paneer bhurji but really I can make better than that.Next time I tried Lunch box.But Paneer was worst. It was hard. Roti/Chapati made of Maida or plane flour its hard to eat after some time.Paneer Tikka Masala was SWEET !Rice was also bad not in taste but there was nothing in it. Just plane yellow rice.I will not recommend this place for Veg at least !
Being a guy, I like food. In fact, when Im eating I barely notice anything else. A giraffe walked past the table? The waiter slapped my date with a swordfish? Missed it. Sorry. You know, this chicken bhuna roll is REALLY good. There are things you want to miss at Masala Times. While it must have been gorgeous at some time in the past, with bright colors and stylish decor, its a bit rundown now. A little dirty. Patrons have peeled a lot of the vinyl letters off a sign. (A sign that actually talks about VOMIT, which is something else youll want to miss.)But I loved, loved, loved the food. They do not pull the spices here: when you leave, your lips will be burning and your fingers will be stained yellow with turmeric. That chicken bhuna roll was chock-full of white-meat chicken, and had a great deep almost fruity taste. The Batata Vada roll was gorgeously seasoned curried potatoes, though I didnt need quite so much grease. The tandoori vegetables were delicious. With a few small changes, this place could have a line out the door, could be a worldwide chain. Heck, its already better than Chipotle.
Seriously never everrrrrrr order food here!!!! 30-45 min delivery time my asssss! Took them 1,5 hour to deliver, while they are about 5 blocks removed from my office and the food was cold and ridiculous. Was no more then a bit of rice and 4 small pieces of chicken for $10.00. This is by far the worst food I have ever eaten!
Attitude Sucks. They do not have the right people on the telephone. Havent tried their food, but I will give them the.benefit of doubt. Overall pathetic experience on the telephone therefore this comment. Maybe it was a bad day, maybe they are normally better than this.

2022-06-21Their food has very authentic flavor Mts, especially the murg masala roll.I also tried the very famous keema pav ( it was good but not for me)I loved their masala chai and masala sodaI’d also recommend their chicken biryaniThe place is small but they have enough seating space, and since it’s so close to the Washington square park, you can always do a takeawayIt costed us $80 for 2, but we ordered a lot of food.

2022-01-01I absolutely love the mango lassi they sell here. Anytime I’m in NYC I try to stop by for two of them. They taste amazing and honestly even though the location is very quaint the food is phenomenal and worth it.It is very small inside so I typically take food to go.

2021-10-11Great quick serve Indian option in West village. Food was fresh and good, but the flavors are inconsistent. It gets really busy and the food couriers swarm the cashier desk making it a rather uncomfortable and crammed situation. It definitely worth going and you wont be disappointed, but in all fairness, you get what you pay for.

2021-06-01Great customer service. Food was just okay, but expected it to be better honestly. Was visiting NYC and arrived late, this was the only place with reasonable food and an affordable price. Called in to get more information about the food and the staff where really nice and friendly.PS- if you are hungry and getting the plate like the one you see above, order an extra side of rice. You will need it.

2022-07-04Decent food. We ordered Pav bhaji , samosa chat and paneer kaathi roll. Chats were okay. Good be a lil bit more spicy imo. Din like the kathi rolls though. Their chai was really good. Not so good mango lassi . Good place to eat something in nyc if u want to grab something quick to eat.

2021-07-18One of the worst employee services ever.We ordered Pav Bhaji , the bhaji was very bland, very less taste, when we asked to do something about it they told this is as is we can’t do anything about this, and they compensated with a Paneer Bhurji roll - I asked him to make it spicy and they added more than 8 solid spicy green chilies to take a return revenge indirectly. My tongue was burning after the first bite and when I asked what did they add so many chilies - they had a blank face and subtly said we add this much once a customer asks to make it spicy.I will never recommend this place to anyone.

2021-07-17Delicious paneer tikka masala with the vegetable curry box! There was also rice, naan bread, and another type of veggie/sauce in the box. Was ready in 10 minutes and the cashier was very nice.
