Well the food was great large portion fresh the bill was about 250 for four people and a child hard to find must use your GPS or youll miss it I will definitely be coming back wait staff was great also you do need to make a reservation here they accommodated us even without a reservation however we were told that in the future its always better to make the reservation especially if you come in late afternoon or evening
First time here and absolutely loved it. Went in on St Patricks day early, after a long day of snowboarding. Our waitress was excellent and was around anytime we needed anything and even helped with food recommendations. My son and I split the frickles (fried pickles) and the brown sugar Sriracha wings. Both were excellent but the wings were some of the best Ive ever had and my son agreed. Dinner I had the shepherds pie and he had the corned beef sandwich. Mine was outstanding and on the verge of way too much food but I still loved every bite. Sandwich had a little too much mustard for his liking but excellent otherwise. For dessert we had the best cheesecake Ive had in a very long time. Baileys cheesecake is a must have. Other than food the place was very nice and seemed very family friendly. I think what was the owner seemed to know almost everyone that came through the door and greeted accordingly. Definitely worth checking out I cant see how you could be disappointed here.
This is place looks like you’re about to step into someone’s living room lols but it’s so worth it. The bar tender scary Mary is AMAZING 😍 she so funny and nice. This place is quiet too the place had all tables full and it was still so nice and quiet. Laid back music and sports at the bar. It is in a residential area and has a cute outdoor area. 10/10
We had a lovely and safe group dining experience here outdoors in the time of COVID. Tables were a good distance apart, and covered in plastic. Use of disposable paper menus. Serving staff wearing masks. Plenty of hand sanitizer. One at a time bathroom signage.Food was very good, comfy upscale diner type. Lovely setting in a beautiful residential area. Feels literally like sitting in a backyard being served from someones home kitchen. The only point of warning I would offer is that a few items we ordered were unexpectedly peppery/spicy, like the watermelon gaspacho. No indication of the spice on the menu and surprising for an American comfort-food kind of place.So- very highly recommended all around, but if you have sensitive palettes, ask about an item before you order. Cheers.
Wanted to enjoy a nice family dinner. I went in first and told the hostess that we were a party of 8. She said she would be happy to seat us.I said we would prefer to sit outside because of the kids but would take whatever was available. As soon as I mentioned kids her whole demeanor changed. She asked how many kids were in our group. I informed her there were 6 kids. (All well behaved children)She then told me that she couldnt offer us a table and told me to look in town for someplace that could accommodate us better.
We had an excellent lunch at Mauras. We went on a day after it snowed and we were pleasantly surprised to be the first ones there, though the place picked up later. Our server was great. I dont know if they were short staffed due to the weather, but the server and bartender were a perfect pair to keep things moving nicely. It was so refreshing to be in an establishment where the staff happily worked well together and with courtesy and a smile. We all ordered a different sandwich. I can only speak for my order, a salmon blt with sweet potato fries. They were able to accommodate my choice of bread. I would have liked a little bit bigger piece if salmon on the sandwich, but it was cooked well. The fries were slightly oily, but I dont usually order fried foods so maybe that was my mistake. All in all the experience was good and we had a nice relaxing meal. We will return to try out some entrees on the menu. Thank you Mauras for your hospitality!
Fantastic food and ambiance. We always have a great time when we come here. We just want to give a massive shout out to pretty little waitress Chrissy. What a lovely, well mannered, and sweet young woman. I strongly recommend ANY pasta, they always cook it to perfection.
I have been a customer of Mauras Kitchen since they opened in 2016. I have always enjoyed my experience at Mauras and the food has always been amazing, but after last nights events I will never return to this establishment. Last evening, myself and 5 of my girlfriends went to Mauras to enjoy a nice dinner together, we are all professional, essential workers and after a long week we arrived with an appetite and ready to eat. Shortly after our arrival we ordered appetizers and our meals, while waiting for them to come out 3 other parties arrived, sat down, ordered their food, and were being served their meals before our appetizers had been served. After an hour of waiting we asked about our food, moments later our appetizers came out. About 30 minutes later we asked about our meals and had stated that if they were not done we would like to cancel the rest of our order, at this point we had already waited an hour and a half and our food had still not been served. The server was back within minutes and stated that our order was already prepared, at this point we then asked to speak to Maura herself. The waitress returned to the table and stated that Maura said shes not coming out, shes busy. We had now waited an hour and 45 minutes for our food. About 5 minutes later, Maura came to our table with her hands on her hips and said yes?, we began explaining the issue at hand and at that time she stated that our food was done and being put in to-go containers, which we had not asked for. At this point Mauras daughter had come out to our table and was being belligerent. We stated to Maura that we would gladly pay for the food and drinks we consumed, but were not willing to pay for the food we did not receive. Maura stated that we were going to pay for all of the food that was ordered. Moments later the full bill came along with the rest of the food we ordered, but packed in to-go bags. We not only paid for the food and drinks we consumed, we added NYS tax, and left a tip for the poor service. Following this experience, Mauras Kitchen proceeded to post a public Facebook post that was untruthful and misleading then allowed the community to publicly demean and threaten us in the comments, as well as share the post with the entire social media community. Shortly following a review on Yelp, her Facebook post was deleted. Im unable to post a photo here, but it can be viewed on my Yelp review. Ive never in my life seen such lack of professionalism come from a small, family owned business in a close-knit community. There are plenty of other great restaurants in the area to choose from if youre looking for good food, efficient service, and a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend The Iron Furnace as an alternate option.
Iv never felt strongly enough to ever post a review but i guess theres a first for everything. Iv been coming to this place for years and for the most part the food is always wonderful. I havent dined in anytime recently but they are doing a very good job at following the COVID guidelines. The one thing that i think has been improved atleast for now is that i havent witnessed all the waiters and bartenders drinking excessively. I dont mean to sound rude in anyway but it could be offputting at times to just want to come in and enjoy a nice meal and look over and see your waiter other waiters the bartender and even the owners doing shots. Luckily atleast since the pandemic i havent seen any of that. Still though the staff are generally nice. Now for my most recent experience. Im not one to complain about the price if something is worth it but this is the first time where the food didnt taste very good and it was very exspensive. Their food is always top notch so i didnt think there would ever come a day where i would say the food didnt land. It was one of the specials. The ingredients didnt taste fresh and there was a bizarre aftertaste. I could only take a few bites before giving it to someone else to finish. They seemed to like the taste but after they finished eating it they complained of nausea and said they felt ill. As regular blue collar guy the most recent expereince comes off as a bit of a rip off.
My friend and I went for lunch this week and as advertised, the food was delicious. One of the Best crocks of French Onion Soup Ive ever had, equal to my own. My guest enjoyed her Italian Grilled Cheese loving the creativity as well as the flavors. The staff was welcoming and friendly too. I recommend Maura s Kitchen to anyone looking for a satisfying meal.
Loved the atmosphere- cute and cozy! The staff was very nice and welcoming and the food was beyond EXCELLENT!! Also a huge plus that this restaurant is off of the crowded Main Street! ! I wish I lived closer to be able to go more often! I hate not giving this place 5 stars because I loved it that much and the only reason I’m not is because the bathrooms could have been cleaned just a little better (and maybe they usually are this was my first time going.). But beside that this was the perfect choice and I definitely recommend going!!!
Went here for Taco Tuesday. Delicious! Think beyond ground beef, tomatoes and lettuce. Mine had veggies and goat cheese. There are fish and shrimp as well as chicken etc. Price was very reasonable. We had 8 in our party. Service was excellent. Waitress was on top of it. Definitely going again.
Came with another couple and had an excellent meal. Granted, we had an early table and the party nearby was a bit boisterous. But service (Asia? was spot on!) and food were top notch. Meals never fail. Loved the lime scallops and rice. The celery soup was satisfying and delicious. Thank you, for a pleasant meal. No rush....we really appreciated that. More than you know.
Food was okay, place was okay. They are still perfecting their breakfast service. The lunch food looked good but for breakfast on Memorial Day Weekend Sunday wasn’t very good. Have to ask for coffee refills and no jelly or jam provided. Crepes were good and so were the poached eggs but service was lack luster
Mauras never fails to impress with their incredible food and drinks. Orders are always as asked (even a black and blue steak/burger!) which is a huge this for my husband. We always go for our anniversary, birthdays and special occasions. Always the best service with a great attitude and sense of humor, no matter who you have. Do yourself a favor and find this hidden gem in Millbrook!
I got seated, thought I was being overlooked because I was a table of one. But the waitress eventually came up, apologized for the wait, said the capuccino machine was having an issue. Just that personal touch of hi, we know youve been waiting, thank you for your patience made all the difference for me. Great service and the food was exactly what I needed, truly comfort food. Extensive menu too. Thumbs up.
Our waitress was amazing! I didnt catch her name but I know she lives in Putnam county! I was served a raw Turkey burger - literally just the outside was browned and inside was mushy, our waitress took it back thankfully. Food didnt come out all at once as I believe they forgot my 2 year olds grilled cheese.. it came out as our guest was finishing up her meal. A+ for the waitress though, she was a doll.
My husband, his son, and grandson had dinner there Thursday, August 9, 2018. My husband said the Chili was outstanding and larger than expected.. The Manicotti was awesome with the Chicken Tortilla Soup good enough for a meal by itself. The kids had steamers, a steak sandwich, and a chicken sandwich, all that was delicious. Add to the dinner, a wonderful server, who was right there with whatever they needed. He is talking about going back when we go to visit our son again.
Always great comfort food at Mauras! The wings and build-a-burger are our family favorites and we highly suggest any of the grilled cheeses. The kids spaghetti and meatball is a go-to for our son. Be sure to check out Taco & Tallboy Tuesday for creative tacos and discounted tallboys.
One of the best burgers I have had in years. Good quality bleu cheese, enough to taste it, melted on top. The burger to bun ratio was spot on. Side salad of mixes greens, onion, tomato and peppers was fresh and clean tasting.and the soup. Big bowl. Chock full of vegetables great taste tooI also had the Newburgh Brown Ale. One of my new favourite beers.I will be back.
Quaint place with fabulous food and outstanding service. Our food came out quickly and our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive, he even gave us directions home! We would be lifelong customers if we lived closer. Would 100% recommend for a quick bite, date night or family outing.
There was six of us for dinner and everyone was very pleased with their entrees drinks and the wait staff. But there was a very annoying beep all night in the dining room. At first I thought it was someones phone but it was too often. As I was leaving I asked a waitress what was that sound coming from. She said it was an alarm indicating when someone either entered or left the restaurant. Instead of placing someone near the door to welcome guests or bid goodbye, there think the very anoyimg sound for the diners is better.
Tried calling an order in beginning at 7:15 pm on a Wednesday evening. Phone only continues to ring until it disconnects. No message. No answer. They advertise they are open until 8:00 pm and advertise it is wine and pasta night.Must be too busy, out of food or understaffed. Very disappointing. Trying to help bring business locally.
Hi Maura! Remember Bill and Caron from pleasant valley Mackay Pub days? We were there a lot! You made some amazing tarragon creamy linguini dish. And normally, Im called picky! Because of you, cant be without tarragon. Just found out about Mauras. Will stop by for sure very soon!!!

2022-04-01I was not very impresse. With that said the town is small and maybe I expected too much. The place was totally empty for lunch and the staff insisted that all the tables were reserved but for one small table. We ate had a drink, left and none one else walked in. Just my experience. I am sure it may be a nice place. I hope it was just my experience. The food was ok.

2022-05-01Homiest, coziest, place with delicious comfort food! I came for for lunch and found that the french onion soup is the best in the county that I have tasted so far. Everything is served with such care. You know how you get a salad as a side with a sandwich and its either the same lettuce they put in the sandwich or its just some random greens plopped on there like a garnish? Well not here, here even the side salad is made with the freshest mesclun and the tastiest original dressing, and the lettuce is thoughtfully paired with the sandwich. You can tell there is a lot of care put into the food. The sandwiches are really creative and have excellent ingredients. The salmon BLT was delicious and they have an assortment of homemade aiolis that you can choose from to really put it over the top. The beers on tap are excellent and they have a full bar that looks like a fun area to watch sports and meet up with friends. The wait staff was also very lovely and helpful. Im looking forward to trying dinner here in the future. Update: Dinner is fabulous and just as delicious as lunch. Make sure you call ahead as its usually packed!

2019-10-18Nice quiet place located off the main street in Millbrook. We ordered the cheesburger chowder and also a side salad. Ordered the special grilled eggplant with zuccini, feta cheese, spinach and red peppers in a spinach wrap. Came with a side of chick pea salad. Food was fresh and excellent. The waitress was very friendly. Would go back again.

2020-01-27Off Millbrooks main street, this gastronomic gem is hidden away behind what appears to be a residential house. Slumgullion by the crock or bowl! Hearty chili, and local microbrew on draft. Parking lot somewhat small for a place which attracts large crowds. Friendly waitress. Clean bathroom and full bar. Desserts to kill for!
