Mavis Discount Tire in other cities:
They changed the tire quickly than I expected and made me happy in a sad situation I was facing. The guys working at the workshop were very cooperative and friendly. They behave very nice and professional. I liked my visit there and the service made me satisfy. I don’t like to visit auto stores because it cost money lol 😜, but if I need I will go there. Keep the great work up, guys.
Have purchased tires from this location several times. Had a positive customer experience with Travis yesterday, when I had a screw in one of the tires. He was able to get my vehicle in promptly and have me back on the road. Thank you for taking care of a loyal customer.
I went there because I had a flat. Unfortunately it couldn’t be fixed because it was the side wall but they threw the donut on and when I went to pay he told me to not worry about it. I don’t know if that’s standard practice or not, but just expect the kindest people over there. I’d give 6 stars if I could
Hats off to my man Jon @ Mavis on Central Ave. I spent almost 2 hours trying to get 1 warped lug off, so I rode in on a flat(down to the rim). He took my truck right in and put my spare tire on for me, cause its too cold to have you stuck out there. I asked for help and didnt expect such fast service let alone for that price. I was in/out in 5 min. Thank you Jon. After the week ive had; your kindness made my day bro
On January 20, 2022. It was a extremely stressful day for my mother and I. We came all the way from Kingston New York to Albany for a visit, and got a flat on the Thruway. Dawsons towing picked us up and took us to the nearest Mavis tire. Before my mother or I could get into the store, this wonderful man by the name of John GUERMERO, was already outside looking for the tire number and then back inside to see if they had the tire in stock. They had the tire in stock, which is shocking to me as we usually have to wait 2 to 3 days for tires for our specific vehicle . Even during these unprecedented times the tire technicians John and the entire staff were extremely pleasant to us.They put the wheel on and we were on our way. We actually came right before it started to get extremely busy. John was so polite, helpful, insightful, gentle and so warm and friendly on that cold better day.Sometimes when you’re in a situation that you cannot control, and you’re already stressed out about some things that you also can’t control you just need somebody to be KIND. John G. was kind, pleasant, patient, assuring that we got in and out in a timely manner . I’ve never had a tire be put on as quickly as it was put on. I honestly was skeptical thinking that we were going to have another issue on the way home. But we did not! I must say that John G, this older gentleman made it so much easier , for us to navigate through a stressful day that we were already having. Again sometimes all the person needs is for you to be patient with them, listen, and be kind! Thank you John Guerrriero ASM STORE 69
Very bad experience to get some new tires here. I had made an appointment through the phone, the guy told me tires I need will come in the day after and total is 286 include tax. So when I came into their shop day after, they told me tires got delayed and I need to come back tomorrow. I waited for another day and brought my car in like 1 P.M. .Front desk guy said it could be done by 6PM and they would call me. I never received any call until they closed the shop. So I had to wait for one more day. When I can finally pick up my car, the total I need to pay went up to 316 dollars( old tires recycle fee and extended warranty on new tires). There was nobody mentioned those fees to me until the moment I check out. This is a place full of lies, so watch out! Hopefully this is not because I am an Asian.
Stopped in today to inquire about getting new tires. Jon was very helpful and was able to give me a awesome deal. Ill be back next week to get tires for my wifes car. Highly recommend mavis. They were very busy and the wait time was long but thats to be expected this time of the year.
Moved here before last winter and needed new tires, staff were very knowledgeable and helped me figure out what I needed that fit the weather and my budget. Came in again to get my car inspected this week. The manager, Cory, took the time to explain some mechanics to me (like many, I’m a bit clueless about cars) to help me better understand the process and know what to do. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, highly recommend this location! They want what’s best for you and your vehicle.
I came in today with a blow out tire and the staff was very helpful getting me in and out I was unaware of my oil cap missing under my hood of the car I also received assistance with that I was in and out with in 45 minutes with two tires replaced one tire repaired and a new oil cap thank you mavis staff and I will see you soon
Corey does it again! Not only did he save my life (tire was literally about to fall off) he was geniune and honest of his assessment and most importantly he was correct about what I needed. He got the work performed quickly and correctly. I cant speak highly enough of corey and his team! Highly recommended! Thank you again! Update 2-17-22 corey is the man saved my life again! My brakes needed doing and he saved me! He is above reproach!
Two plus hours wait to have a couple tires/stem valves checked. As I sat waiting patiently, I observed at least one person slip in get serviced and slip out ahead of us.I then ask for my keys and as I begin to walk away the manager of the store says to me if you would like air put in your tires just pull up to the pump and I will put it in for you. So, I pulled up to the pump and I wait…After 15 more minutes, I decide my day will be much better spent finishing making bags of warmth to hand out to the homeless containing a pair of gloves, a hat, a scarf and encouraging materials. God will sustain my tires for now. God Bless You All
They accommodated my last minute oil change with excellent service and helped answer all my questions (I always have a lot of questions). They were straight forward, I didnt once feel like they were trying to upsell me, even with me barely being able to recall my car year (its been a long week....) they treated me with respect. Im confident that Ill be back when needed, which no offense I hope isnt soon.
We had a number of problems with Mavis. For one they failed to write the mileage on the invoice so there was no record for the tire warranty. They continued to not fill in the mileage on the service slip at the free 6K tire rotations so it was hard to document that we had them rotated. Later they did document this problem on our record, but it took time and talking to a few reps to get it straight. Other problems: their prices were not any cheaper than a less crowded full service tire store in our area; you cannot schedule tire rotations-first come first serve usually with a 2+ hour wait; and they keep trying to sell you batteries and break pads when not needed. We ended up replacing these tires long before the warranty was over because they were worn down. We had enough of dealing with Mavis to try to bother getting them to honor the warranty.
Great customer service even if you don’t purchase anything. I was there with my trailer with a flat however due to company policy they cannot work on trailers, that did not stop the manager of the store to give me a hand with what he could at the time. Im so grateful he was able to help i was able to deliver the on time and still rolling! Thank you to everyone else in the store that helped out
I was 50+ miles from home (as well as my usual Mavis location) and had picked up a bolt in my tire. The tire was losing pressure as I was heading to the Mavis at 935 Central Ave in Albany. I pulled in and the parking lot was full. I went in and asked how long to get it taken care of and at first, I was told it would be 2-3 hours potentially but that they would do their best to get me in. A few minutes later, Travis told me he could pull it in and fix the tire right then. Very happy that I have chosen Mavis to handle my tires and brakes. Thank you Travis for getting me back on the road in a short amount of time and not the hours long wait I was anticipating.
Actually went to Mavis initially for my 05 mountaineer. Went there get my abs serviced and inspected. Abs work was in fact not necessary and the gentleman explained exactly why which saved me money on the spot. Past experiences shops would have said yeah I needed the work just for the money so that was appreciated! Also took my 13 Rouge today for inspection. Dropped it off and picked up within 1-2 hours. Have not one bad thing to say. Great service!
I called at 8:00am to make an appointment for a flat tire and was told I was able to bring my car in at 1:00pm . Brought my car in at 12:45 went inside to check in and was told it’d be a 2 hr wait. I was okay with that just wanted to make sure if I bring my car back in 2 hrs that I will definitely get the work done today. Guy up front was extremely rude and basically told me there’s no guarantee my car would be repaired today. Overall just seemed as if there was no care regarding my car repair even though I was schedule at 1:00pm .
This place is great to get service on your car. I had a simple inspection due to my registration, and the particular model for my car has the locking nut bolts on my tires, every other service store I went to said they couldn’t get it off because it required a key bolt to take my tires off.. so I went and checked out Mavis tire the staff here gave me straight forward advice with no bs, and we’re able to take my tires off and inspect my vehicle with no problem! Two thumps up!
Sabastian was very helpful. I myself am not confident when it comes to bringing my car into shops. Sabastian, Mike and the other staff helped make me feel comfortable and at ease. I will forever come back to this Mavis due to the amazing service that was provided to me.
DO NOT GO HERE. Their extended warranty is a joke, they just lie to you and clearly don’t know what they’re doing or care about their customers. I’m surprised I didn’t crash yet with how quick their garbage tires wear down. Bring it up to them and expect condescending remarks from their management. Extremely dissatisfied, will never recommend.
Went here after a bad experience at Mr. Tire. They were able to get me in without an appointment immediately after I called and got my tires mounted and balanced within about an hour. They also gave me the same price that Mr. Tire was going to give me as a discount. All in all I got great service in a short period of time under a time crunch. I will be using them again and recommend them to anyone needing tire service in the area.
Profesional staff and good work over all, i would given a 5 star but when i did my tires rotation, balancing and alignment and when back to the road my steering wheel was crooked, i went right back and explained issue to the gentleman that was taking care of me, he told me its gonna take some time to fix it since everyone was working on other cars already, well let me tell you that within 15 mins the problem was correct and i was on my way. I appreciate the fact that they focused on my issue to get it resolved ASAP.
Mike at this location amongst other staff are truly amazing. They get you in regardless how busy they are. They really care for your needs and make sure your satisfied and safe. Thanks so much guys I will always go to you guys over any other Mavis in the county! -Traci
I made an appointment for an inspection on their website for a Wednesday at 10am. I showed up at 9:50 for my appointment. I was told We dont do inspections on Wednesday. I said so why did the website let me schedule it. His reply I dont know. Im sure Im not the only person who this has happened to. Quality customer service right there. I wont be back.Update. I got an email the next day saying, sorry you missed your appointment, reschedule now. Awesome customer service.
Travis and Cory and chat are just the best very professional went there and in a matter of 30 minutes I was in and out very honest fellas will definitely recommend everyone I know and I don’t know to go over there and I’ll tell you that definitely you’re going to the right mavis.5 stars ⭐️
4 hour state inspection.Do not bother making reservations as they dont care about them. I booked a 9am state inspection and came ten minutes before. I waited 1 hour before I asked if my car was next. They said it was still 1.5 hours before my car would be seen so I went home. I ended up getting my car at 1pm, a full 4 hours after I initially came in with a reservation.I also asked to get my brakes checked because I occasionally feel vibration when I press the brake pedal. I was told it was fine but Im not sure if it was looked at it closely. Will definitely not come to this place again.
Great experience!!! Recommend for good , friendly service... the manager Mike Hotaling really knows his customers.... like I said, AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!!! once again the team at Mavis did it again... the manager mike and his service department went far and beyond and made me a customer for life... Thanks again guys!!! and FYI where ever you go Mike you made myself and about 15 of my friends are coming where you are... all about trust brother and you have earned it!!!
Went in for a scheduled appointment at 4:30 on Friday. I get there 10 minutes early and the front desk tells me theyre not taking anymore appointments. I tell him I have one already and he replies that all the ones in the garage are appointments too and that they cant get to mine today. He stands there blank and doesnt offer any rescheduling or options. So I just say OK and leave. Im pretty sure it was the manager also. I get that theyre busy, but seriously, are there no consequences for wasting other peoples time and not trying to provide some type of remedy?! Why schedule an appointment at all if its not guaranteed...
I bought 4 new tires and had the mounted on my brand new rims. The manager was reluctant to do the mounting but it came out finr. The problem was when I went to put the rims on the car, I noticed that they had given me 1 tire that was used, not new. It was on slightly used, but it was clearly not new. The stripping was gone and the little rubber pieces that are on new tires were gone. And there was gravel in the treads. So I brought it back and convinced the manager that it was in fact not a new tire. He gave me a new tire but when the put it on my brand new rim, they scratched and gouged the rim.. So I would say if you are going to use this store, be very careful. They seem like nice guys but it was a pretty skanky move selling me a slightly used tire when I paid for all new ones. Plus they damaged my new rim and it was a pain to have to make another trip there just to get the used tire issue resolved.UPDATE: I was contacted by the Mavis Regional Manager who apologized and said he would investigate the situation and make sure it doesnt happen again. He affirmed that Mavis does not sell used tires and agreed that I should have been given 4 brand new tires. I feel he is taking care of this situation and I thank him for his diligence.
I bought a tire from mr tire 2 years ago and they tried rip me off . I had a puncture, they said they couldn’t fix it and I needed another tire . Yeah ok . So I went to mavis discount at 935 central Ave. Sebastian he was awesome . Got my tire patched and on the road back to Md . I will be back and refer a friend .
Used to go to pep boys, went here today instead. Dominic took great care of me and was straight to the point. I will definitely be coming back here from now on. I was there a little longer than expected, he knocked the price down for it. This place actually cares about their work. Would highly recommend.
Mavis Tire of 935 Central Ave in Albany really knows how to help a stranded traveler. Im in Albany NY visiting my mom, I flew in form South Carolina to NJ , rented a car in NJ drove to Albany NY and got a slow leaking tire. My moms 90 and I got nobody here to help. I stopped at Mavis 935 central avenue and I taken a back by how kind and helpful these people were to my problem. The fixed my on the spot in less than a half hour Im back on the road. Thank you Mavis ! Joan Agneta Surfside beach SC
Dominic, Anthony, Aaron and the rest of the guys at Mavis are awesome! They are so helpful and really take the time to explain what is going on with your car. Even when the place is super busy they are kind and always have smiles on their faces. I highly recommend using their location and getting superior service from a great group of guys!
I called at 935 central ave for tires on my 2014 Cadillac. I was given a quote, and told to come in anytime today. I got there at 4pm. Within 10 minutes my car was in shop. Out the door in 40 minutes with price I was told on phone. All with great attitude from store manager Dominick. I will be going back for two more tires next month and this is the place for me. Great job guys and Dominick.
Had a slice in one of my tires so I decided to get both front tires replaced as a precaution. Researched prices and services online before coming in to be sure I knew what I wanted beforehand. It was super busy (as expected before a huge snow storm) but the staff made sure to greet each person in line offering their apologies for the wait. When I got up to the service desk I worked with Daniel who was wonderful and transparent about the wait time for what I needed to be done and with the amount of people in before me. He gave me a ballpark based on how busy they were when my car would be completed and told me he would call me once my car was finished. Recieved a call waaay sooner than I expected. I would recommend coming to Mavis based on my interaction with the staff and their complete professionalism. As always, wait times are expected at any auto shop you go to but it is how the staff handles it which matters the most. Kudos to you guys for working hard and remaining upbeat, positive, and professional through the rush!
1 star for the tire prices, because theyre competitively proceed, they dont charge to install and they have a veterans discount. I did take the remaining stars because I was quoted for leaky and worn shocks, and brakes all around. The dealership confirmed within days that shocks were fine, and only rear brakes needed immediate attention. This was a multi person effort... thats bad service and bad lying.
Amazing service at this location! I thought I had scheduled an inspection with another location only to find out I went to the wrong store, where they directed me to this Mavis. When I got there, I explained the situation and Tom was able to help me out immediately! They got me in and out right away and really went above and beyond.
Made a reservation 2 days ago online to have a vehicle inspection done thinking I would show up and wait a few minutes and they would bring my car in. The person behind the counter scoffed when I said I had a made a reservation online and proceeded to tell me I would have to leave my car for the rest of the day because they had alot of walk-ins. Now every time Ive ever made a reservation at any other business my reservation time was honored at or close to that time. It does not say anywhere on their website that the reservation time has a 3 hour window. I have used mavis a few times in the past but this was 100 percent my last dealing with them. BEWARE! reserving time doesnt mean a thing to this place.
Huge shout out to the Manager Matt, Donnae, and the Mechanical Manager along with the rest of the techs!!! THANK YOU!! Was there today. Had to have new exhaust system on my 2011 Kia, which Ive never had replaced before. Everyone did a GREAT job even though they were busy. You persevered and got it done!! Purrs like a kitten again. Your a great group of employees, and Matt is a GREAT manager, even under extreme pressure !! Thank you all for a job well done!! I highly recommend Mavis Tire Central Ave. Albany NY
Mavis has great prices. I will give them that. However, I have had more than one bad experience with the service. In my latest experience I bought two new tires from them and dropped off my vehicle to have the two tires installed on the rear of the vehicle because one of the rear tires had a screw in it and it couldnt be patched (too close to the sidewall). I very explicitly explained to the sales person that the two rear tires were being replaced because the left rear drivers side tire had a screw in it that couldnt be plugged. I watched him enter his notes in the computer. Low and behold somehow the rear tires were moved to the front and the screw was removed. It wasnt until a couple hours later that I went to get in my car at home did I now have a completely flat tire. I then realized what they did. The technicians basically removed a screw from a tire and put it back on my vehicle. This was complete incompetence and a safety issue.I had to return the next day to have old tire, without the hole, put back on, I provided my feedback to customer service and was told I would be contacted about my experience. Three days later and no contact.I wish the technicians would concentrate more on the work that you want done as opposed to trying to up-sell you on unnecessary work.
They don’t keep appointments. Arrived 10 minutes before and was told “at least an hour” before they could get to me, people ahead of me in line were already leaving. Also, someone was smoking a cigarette underneath a car they were working on, not sure if that’s a safety concern or not but seemed dodgy. Don’t waste your time. It’s too bad because I loved their other location.
I would give zero stars if I could. Had an appointment for 4 tires. Showed up on time and waited 4 hours. 1 hr 45 mins before the car even went into the garage. After that, it spent over 2 hours on the lift to mount and balance 4 tires. Absolutely pitiful pace and staff management. The worst part was when they were done, the tire pressure monitoring system in the car showed that the tech(s) had over inflated the tires by 7-15 psi each! Nobody at Mavis had any idea! Thank god I caught it and brought it to their attention to fix, otherwise something horrible could have happened due to the excess pressure in the tire (supposed to be 33psi but was 48!). This type of thing is extremely DANGEROUS and would have been 100% preventable through a simple quality check. Please do NOT put your family in jeopardy by having your car serviced here!
Oh when I tell you Daniel is the best hands down got me the best price ever and was very kind Travis was so very communicative with me on questions and letting me know how long it will take I choose this mavis anyday over the one by Lark Street… They both got a faithful customer here.. thank you so much
Steve is literally amazing (& so are the rest of the staff)! Being a female I’m always SO skeptical of mechanics etc., as I don’t want to be taken advantage of. I do have enough knowledge regarding cars but still I take safety very seriously. I have two vehicles one newer and one older and EVERY time I come (it’s been about 5-7 times between both cars) and they always take the best care of me! They are so honest, take the time to explain things, and stay loyal to their customers! They are super flexible too! I have a crazy work schedule and even when I’m not able to call ahead they still find time to give me the BEST customer service!!!
I just wanted to give a shout out to Juan and the garage team at this location. I called on a Friday afternoon (after 4:30 pm) with concerns about a tire leak. Juan said that I could come in, right then! Fifteen minute later I pulled up, 5 minutes after that they took my baby in and assessed the situation. Only took a minute or two find the nail/screw in the tire that I couldnt find. Plugged her up so quick I barely had time to finish my phone conversation and had me out the door toot sweet. BTW, I am an extremely tough cookie to please and these guys not only did their job, but the did it correctly, fast and courteous! I have never been a fan of National companies (SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES), but this location has my loyal patronage from here on out, ESPECIALLY if this is the kind of service that they can provide, and especially at the end of a long week. Thank you guys!!!!
Ordered 4 tires made apt for 10 a.m. got there 945 waited 1 hour car still not taken in spoke to Eric (manager) said had had a lot of walk ins and 2 more cars were in front of us. Asked why appointments were not done before walkins he had no answer We left and went to another place had same tire put on 100.00 less If they dont want to value customers in the economy today they will lose a lot of business Would not recommend at all I also called the 800 customer service number and all they did was transfer me back to store. Less than helpful non customer friendlycompany all around So do not go here unless you do not value your time
I drop off car night before so can be done early next day I was told be first in, well 1231pm got call asking if I want other work done no ! Just my tires ok 2pm call back said my car done now why did it take 6hrs to put on 4 tiers? And to boot over charge me 18 bucks! I called back asked him about this nothing came out his mouth wow bad business terrible never go there again.
On June 8th we were driving our car back from Glenmont and about a block from home something broke, we thought it was the strut since we were told by another company it needed to be replaced, called around and landed on Mavis because the price to repair was very fair. The car was unable to be driven so we paid to have it towed to Mavis, I called 2 - 3 hours ahead when it occurred; but it took awhile for a tow. Nonetheless we get it there around 1:30 - 2:00pm and waited until around 4:30 for them to look at it and tell us that was the subframe and that it would be an extremely expensive repair, with an expensive part and 2 days of labor, and that we should probably just look into getting another car; but they would find the part and give us an estimate so we could then decide. We waited another hour and were then told they couldn’t get into contact with any part dealers because it was Saturday, and that they would call me back Monday with an estimate. I waited all day and never received a call, called them myself to be told they still didn’t have an estimate. We ended up looking into another vehicle but our car was there for a week without an estimate ever provided. We cleaned out some of our things from our vehicle, while they completely ignored us. Finally got a call on Saturday 06/15/19 asking to have our car removed, no estimate given still. Myself and my boyfriend are completely disgusted with the service provided. If an estimate was provided when promised we may not have had to get another vehicle, or we at least would have done so being fully informed about the cost to fix the old one. Very unhappy customer.
Rate my visit? Is what I was asked! Friendly greeting upon arrival, the wait was 4hours. I must say that was pretty good for myself and my client didnt have an appointment. These men r respectful and very kind. We have come to Mavis on many occasions for my client van each time I feel the service is really good. Thanks to all the Mavis workers ur kindness has been noticed.
This place is awesome. I came in last minute to get a tire fix, had to keep the car on the side of the road in the most unconventional place. The manager himself stayed behind to change the tire and make sure I can move the car. Very respectful, very caring, and very professional establishment.
Not taking away from anyone’s positive experience, but I can only wish that my experience was the same.I made an appointment 11/28 for a set of new snow tires to be installed on 11/30. I arrived at my appointment time of 9:00 a.m. I was told there would be a 4 hour wait (even though a made an appointment two days before) so I made arrangements to pick the vehicle up the following morning. So I arrived 12/1 to pick up the vehicle and the vehicle had not been done ... they never even took the tires off ..... not to mention I was told it would be done in a couple of hours.... so I felt that they wasn’t worthy of the 700 plus dollars that I was about to pay #extremelyunprofessional that day!!!!!!
I went to 4 different shops to have my tire changed that had a broken lug nut. Due to my car being a Jag XJ they all recommend that I take it to the dealer. Knowing the dealer would charge 3xs as much. I avoided that at all cost. Needless to say all the guys up at Mavis treated me nice and showed me the issue and resolved it! Thanks Juan, Tom, and Dominic! These guys are awesome! I am so relieved.Ps. being a woman i did not feel like they tried to get over on me! Great job guys!
Their warranty is a joke, after a few months, my tire went flat and they promised a discount based on tread depth. A friend called and got a quote for the same tire and they quoted them the exact same price I was given with the discount. Additionally, they ordered and put on the wrong tire causing a mismatched set. Their prices are outrageous and I would never set foot in this or any other Mavis store again
From start to finish, Mavis handled my daughters flat tire with care and expertise. Reasonably priced, quick and efficient service, and the personal touch of scheduling and follow up calls made for an easy fix. Shes back on the road and this mom can rest assured she is safe even while far from home. Thank you.
Nobody wanted to work. Spoke to one guy and one female worker that were respectable, but the supvr kept ignoring and talking on his cell phone, turning his back and not even asking the customer ANYTHING. Totally rude. So tomorrow my rude money goes to another business. Approx $500-700 worth. This was my experience with him.
I was stuck driving around with my spare tire on due to a nail that was in my tire. The business where I purchased my tires was temporarily closed due to Covid19 so I was unable to get the tire repaired/replaced under the road hazard warranty. I stopped into Mavis without an appointment and asked if the tire could be looked at. Within a short period of time I was back on the road again with my tire repaired!!!! Awesome crew working there!!!!!
I brought my car in for four new tires and unfourtainatly, there was a minor issue while it was in the bay. Such is life. What truely defines a business is how they handle the situation when things dont go as expected. The staff at Mavis was professional, prompt, courteous, and understanding. The situation was remedied immediately. Well done. I will be back in the future and continue to refer my customers.
Needed 2 front tires. Initially they thought we would have to order them and set up an appointment for Saturday. Service advisor found me 2 Goodyears, right size, in stock, and bumped me up to get me in and out less than one hour after I walked in. A bit more expensive than I wanted, but higher quality. I left mostly pleased.
I used to really love this place, 2017- Summer 2018.... had a really great bunch of technicians, friendly, didnt try to sell you extra nonsense, they remembered who you were, they appreciated people who held on to older vehicles, and they were fair. Then a whole new crew came in, suddenly, first thing they did was try to sell me wiper blades, didnt need them, I had a new truck and all I needed my first oil change, guy alters another vehicle on my account in the computer and mixes them up, then couldnt find my truck keys for 40 min when I went back. When I had asked if my truck got the right oil since they mixed up the account, they chuckled and said yes, they caught it earlier they just didnt update the paperwork the keys were attached to.Ok so it was a mistake, fine, I bring my other truck over early, empty parking lot, for an oil change and a power steering pump. Same guy at the counter goes out to take the information from my truck to fix it in the computer, since he deleted my history or something.... seven hours later I call, they just started the oil change, and I was told they were replacing the pump. Two hours after that I go get the truck, oil change is done but pump wasnt replaced. The manager said the guy at the register was an a-hole, he wouldnt be there much longer, and he hopes he just quits before they fire him. He then told me my truck was junk, I should just buy a new one since it was going to be a ton more money to just fix it and that it wasnt worth the trouble. He quoted me this outrageous price for the power steering repair which apparently wasnt the pump, it was the rack, its leaking, nightmare this that, buy a new vehicle. So I took it to another mechanic that liked money, he replaced the parts for 1/3 the price, lesson learned. Either way it was cheaper than buying a new half ton, quad cab pickup with four wheel drive regardless of what he said, he just didnt want to work on it.I have not been back, I just got an email from Mavis the other day for a wheel alignment thats due... on a third vehicle thats a combo of the two I actually own so apparently the stupidity is here to stay. I recommended them to everyone at one point too, they really took care of me I wish I knew where those other guys went, I would go out of my way to bring my vehicles to them, I wouldnt bring my bycicle here.... if I had one.
Where do I start. If youre coming here for tires, fine. Youll get a decent service, and buy the warranty on them because its worth it. Other than that, I cant implore you enough to not bring your vehicle here for anything else. I cant tell you how many times I have had to bring my or my wifes vehicle back here because either the wheels werent set right, or the brake rotors werent set right and there was a large rumble, or there was a piece of my battery cover hanging down and causing an issue when I accelerated by hitting my transmission shaft (yes that really is what happened). My wife and I began starting calling them our romantic weekends at mavis because it would either be an all weekend affair, or multiple weekends to have a simple job completed. The fact that they cross threaded the lug nuts and studs on my wifes car the last time we were in is the last straw. 300 dollars later to fix that. I will NEVER be bringing our vehicles back here again, and I implore you to do the same.
While there....I had a 2pm appointment and dropped the car off purposely to have 4 tires put on and an alignment.......I show up there at 3, waited 3 and a half hours cause there was NO STAFF!!!!! Everyone is on a time schedule and vehicles were bought in after mine and mine was on the lift for hours...unacceptable to have a place like that....
I got a flat on my way to work right near Mavis. They were very busy and one guy said it would be an hour or more before they could even pull it inside to look at it. When I explained I was an ER nurse and needed to get to work one of the mechanics whos name was Aaron overheard me and went outside to look at it. He found a nail and fixed it in 5 minutes right in the parking lot. He also saw my brakes low and said I should come back soon and he will give me a great deal. I went back the next day and got new brakes for less than $300!!!! I could not be happier with my experience. Ill be back.
No parking and rude management who seemed to support unequal race based treatment and level of service at Westgate location. I am an American, a USA citizen. Yes, my family are Chinese immigrants but we are human and deserve fair equal treatment. We can vote with our dollars by getting service elsewhere.
I can’t say enough nice things about the people who worked with me there. I was totally stressed, just thought I needed air in my tire, but I needed a new one and they were kind enough to explain everything and even borrow a phone charger so I could call my friend to ask advice. They even got on the phone with him. I was the stressed out one, but they couldn’t have been more kind or patient. Tire is great and I will definitely return.
DO NOT go to this Mavis. Ive been 4 times within a year. Ive spent close to $2000 and they are still telling me my issue from a year ago is not resolved. I purchase 4 tires which has a warranty. I was told even if a tire was flatten for whatever reason I would get it replaced at NO cost. It has not been a full year and they are telling me another issue (which they said was resolved months ago) resulted in me needing two new front tires and I would have to pay for them AGAIN.
DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS. I went here to replace my REAR tires because they were bald and I needed them to pass inspection. First off they didnt even call me once they were done inspecting. So, I called around 3pm and they told me I would need all 4 tires replaced. I knew this wasnt true as I had had several people check my tires to confirm what needed to be done. I told them dont replace all 4, just replace the REAR tires and I would take it elsewhere for an inspection. I come to get my car after work, drive it to the garage next door (Midas) only to be told Mavis had replaced my FRONT tires. I drive back over to Mavis and make them aware of their mistake, they ask if I just want the front switched to the back.. are you serious? No, I dont because they are BALD. They tell me ill have to wait til the next day for them to fix it. No apology at all for their mistake. I took it to Midas after they corrected the situation and SHOCK SHOCK my car passed because my front tires are FINE. I repeat, do not go here for anything. They are a bunch of money hungry people.
After having a very difficult and unpleasant experience and the Kingston Mavis Discount Tire I requested that the tire that I just purchased on April 26th 2021 be replaced in the 935 Central Avenue store there are two gentlemen here that have gone above and beyond to not only fix what is wrong with my tire but change my opinion of the store name as a whole, they are so friendly and helpful and have big smiles and are super welcoming they did not want me to leave until they were able to get to the bottom of what was wrong and for that I am extremely grateful the one young mans name is sabastian Lanier and a gentleman named Mike hotaling.
I ended up going with Mavis for new tires because they had the best price around. I was a little wary of using a chain but it went well. I selected tires made an appointment online. Even though they were short staffed they were done in about 2.5 hours including a new battery, brake fluid flush, and alignment. Waiting room has WiFi. They do free tire rotation so I will probably go back in the future.
Dont waste your time.Ive had two fairly awful experiences with this Mavis in the past month:1st experience - I went in during an extended lunch break to have my tires changed and was told that the service would take about an hour. When it looked like they were running behind schedule I asked if it would be better to reschedule an appointment so I could get back to work on time. I was assured they would get my car through in a timely manner, 4 hours later my car was finally ready. I noticed most people in the waiting room saying they had been there for nearly 4 hours as well, and on my way out I heard them tell another customer that the wait time was an hour. Not only were they clearly being dishonest about the wait time of their service, I noticed later that week that my tires had not been balanced correctly.2nd - I scheduled a follow up appointment for today to have my tires re-balanced since they hadnt been done correctly the first time. I was scheduled to come in at 10:30 and again I was told my wait time would be about an hour. At 11:35 my car hadnt been brought into the garage, I asked the person at the counter when they would be able to bring it in and was told there were still a number of cars in line before mine. What is the purpose of scheduling an appointment then? They told me that once my car was in it would be at least another hour for the service. So once again I was told my wait time would be an hour and I was realistically looking at 3+ hours of being in Mavis, when the only reason I had come back was because they didnt do the work properly the first time.I didnt have time for 3+ hours in Mavis again so I am now still riding on tires that havent been properly balanced, which is causing uneven wear on the tires I just spent $480 on. I was told that if I had them balanced elsewhere they would not reimburse me for the cost.I have now spent a grand total of 5.5 hours and $480 dollars at Mavis Discount Tire and I still have yet to receive a job well done. Heres a tip to Mavis: Dont lie about your wait time so your customers can schedule accordingly. If the work is going to take 3-4 hours thats fine, just tell me so I can work out a ride and get on with my day while youre fixing my car.
I made a reservation for 11:00 am and was told on the phone it would be 1-1.5 hours for service time. I was getting 4 tires and a alignment its now 1:00pm and my car isnt even being worked on. I tried speaking to a man at the desk and he told me its a 3 hour window, its a busy time of the year, next time arrange the car to be dropped off. Well there wont be a next time. Whats the waiting room for? Looks? I just wish they would have made the expectatations clear because I asked all these questions before coming for a reason. I could have came at another time but they said 11:00 would work. They even called me back to verify the time because the first person I spoke to did not note the time even when I said 11:00 twice and he said it back to me. In addition I wanted to pay for the work upfront and they told me I couldnt because if they messed anything up they wouldnt want to process a credit... well ok thats real reassuring.UPDATE: Once my car was put up and began being worked on it only took 20 minutes before it was down and out. I spoke a checked out with the owner and he was very professional.
I went to Mavis after my brakes gave out. They actually showed me the problems by taking me inside the garage so I could see what was going on when the car was on the lift. Everything they showed me was true down to a tee. I had a blown brake line caused by extra pressure needed to apply the brakes. The brakes pads themselves were riding on bare metal of worn rotors. The front end suspension was pulling out at the ball joints of the wheels, causing the front end of the frame to start to bend. All four rotors wore shot, along with the pads and brake lines. The wheel bearings of all four tires were also shot, due to play in them, which I knew about before they said anything to me. The front end was out of alignment, I also knew about because I just replaced the front two tires. The front end lower steering control arms were also shot and needed to be replaced. Mavis did all this work, which should have cost me about $1700 and only charge $1200. My 2001 Pontiac GTP Gran Prix now drives like its fresh off the showroom floor. Thanks Guys you did great work for a great price knowing that there was at least 10 hours labor involved. I highly recommend Mavis at 935 Central Avenue. Fast and friendly service. They will treat you right.
I would be hesitant to go here. To make a long story short, they put 2 faulty parts on my car. First time I drove away and came back the next day because I heard rattling. Told me the part was faulty and put another on. Drove away again, heard rattling again. Came back and they told me the 2nd part was faulty. Finally the third try it worked. It should have taken an hour to fix but instead it was back and forth for 2 days. Lots of shuffling my schedule for work and kids to accommodate this. Was told it wasnt their fault, but their distributors for sending faulty parts. The regional director Lee has blown off my calls asking for partial reimbursements. The guys are nice there, but it ends there.
I gave this business one star because I needed one to complete the survey but this is a poor business. I went there for brake work, and the representative decided to try and sell me $1000 worth of work on an obviously old car. they finally agreed to brake work at a decent price but clearly didnt finish the job well, as halfway driving home my brake light came on and i realized i had no control of my car. no breaks! very very poor job and customer service. Do not recommend.
Took my car in because I needed tires, oil change, and an inspection. They put the tires on, only put air in three of them. My car is now leaking oil (2016 Honda Civic) less than a month later. Pretty sure they didn’t inspect my car considering my wipers were shot and I was missing a few things that would fail an inspection. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS
I WILL NEVER GO BACK. I went to Mavis in need of 2 tires.(I had all 4 put on at this location a year ago, but since then, the front two have gone bald.) They checked out the car and quoted me a bunch of things supposedly wrong with it for almost $1000. THEN said the warranty I PAID FOR on each tire was void because I never got an alignment. Then when I said I was going to get a second opinion, they tried so hard to get me to stay, saying they would work on the price with me and INSISTED i open a Mavis Credit Card. Needless to say, I took my car to another reliable shop that my dad uses.....After they checked my car over I was shocked. I didnt need a single thing that Mavis told me I needed. PLUS they told me that the tires they put on last year were all from China and the lowest grade of tire that you can possibly get. (A.K.A. NOT WHAT I PAID FOR!!!!) THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I will NEVER go back and will tell everyone I know to NEVER GO HERE.
ONCE UPON A TIME this place was great. Now... it’s a HORROR AND A HALF. An oil change took 7 1/2 hours!! I dropped my car off at 9:15AM and did not have my car back till 4:30PM... an oil change. I also requested a tire rotation (with brand new tires I purchased the year before... I guess being a loyal customer for 4 years doesn’t mean anything to Mavis) and the tire rotation never happened. Want to know why this became a horror and half? Because the mechanic LIED TO ME. How uncomfortable? Where is the integrity? This is my car and you’re going to lie to me? Why would I EVER TRUST MAVIS AGAIN? The guy working on my car called at 1:45 asking for the wheel key to rotate my tires, I said it should be in the car, never leaves the car. I’ve never been asked this question at Mavis because the crew that has always been there has had the common sense to look and KNOWS ME as a customer where I keep it. HEY MAVIS CORPORATION, ESTABLISHING RELATIONSHIPS WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS MATTERS. Said he was not going to rotate my tires, would just “check out my car” - whatever that means. I get there to pick up car at 3:30, still not done, and the mechanic said he could not find the wheel key, looked throughout the car and it was nowhere to be found. I said it was in the glove compartment. Return at 4:30 and receipt says a tire rotation was done on the car and it wasn’t. I go into my car and lo and behold the wheel key is in my glove compartment. So, thus far: I’ve waited 7 1/2 hours for an oil change, a service is on my receipt that never happened and the mechanic just didn’t do the tire rotation. I go back into the garage and show the crew the wheel key and ask why the service was not completed. The mechanic who worked on my car said by corporate policy he was not allowed to go into my car and look for the key. ANOTHER LIE. He just said he looked and couldn’t find it, now it was against corporate policy altogether? I then call him out on his lie and it goes deeper. His third response is: we can only look on the surface level of your car.So which is it Mavis? Which version do I believe? The mechanic went through my car and chose not to do a tire rotation then put it on my receipt anyways? Never looked at all and never planned on doing the rotation? Is there really a policy and if so why did the mechanic go through my car? Why wasn’t I informed prior? The price of the oil change also increased DRAMATICALLY since my last visit which was only three months prior. Oh. And Mavis ran out of oil change stickers and an AUTOZONE oil change sticker was put on. I didn’t get an oil change at AUTOZONE, it was at MAVIS and REGRETTABLY SO.I’ve been a loyal customer for four years, have waited patiently many times, had credit cards, new brakes, tires, you name it with Mavis. But after today, the blatant dishonesty and atrocious customer service has me looking elsewhere. I will never step into a MAVIS DISCOUNT TIRE STORE AGAIN.The only discount I received was on customer service.
Left this location after getting four tires put on and after 20 miles heard a Big Bang and something went flying off the vehicle. I stopped and in the road was a 10lb piece of metal that was part of the lift from the garage. Called and complained was told that district manager would call me regarding the issue and I never received a call. Very unsafe situation
Went here to get some Blizzaks snow tires (purchased elsewhere) mounted on my car. It wasnt too busy so it only took about 45 minutes. What I appreciated the most was that when they did the complimentary inspection - fluids, struts, etc, whoever was in charge there was not pushy about selling me these extra services.I know its pretty standard practice at a service center to check out other things on the car and Im not crazy about that, but this instance did not rub me the wrong way because the manager made a point to offer it as a safety thing. Price was also reasonable for the service.
Recently did some work on my car and it needed alignment, so I brought my car in. Recommended that the inner tie rod be replaced, which was bent (despite having been aligned that way at this same store at least twice). Manager Virgil recommended I pick up appropriate part and return and they would put it on during alignment, which I did. Ive had a number of positive experiences at this store with both Virgil and previous manager Bryan. Theyve been fair and shoot straight and take care of their customers pretty well.
Arrived at 2:00 pm with a 15 passenger van. Rear tire had slow leak, was told it would be five hours . We waited . Three hours later they told us that the equipment they had couldnt lift the vehicle. Three hours later. As I sat .and fumed, in recollected the number of complaints that I heard during my three hour visit. The level of incompetence is unimaginable. Today is Tuesday .May 28, 2019.
Dropped car off at 9AM because they have good break deals. We have been working with another mechanic for weeks fixing up the car, and they try to upsell us by three times the price for an unnecessary set of parts, we refuse because the mechanic we have had for years knows it is unnecessary. They then kept my car, on the lift, for 2 hours, eventually the shop closes at 6PM and we continue to sit here. They are irresponsible and quite happy to lie to their customers for personal gain. They will then trap you into a sale, regardless of whether it is needed.Do not use this shop if you do not have experience with vehicles. It is a game to them.
They DO NOT test drive your car....So got my tie rods replaced and I needed an alignment because of this. After leaving, I was told the alignment was done with no issues. On the way home I realize the steering wheel is really off center. I go back to Mavis and they assure me the alignment was done properly! After trusting this, 10,000 miles later, Im shown the completely bald insides of 2 front tires that wont pass inspection!!They have lost a customer as I will NEVER go back to them for any work. This is the first time I have ever gotten only 10,000 miles out of BRAND NEW tires. They lied to me about doing the alignment and how can I trust them with anything else?.
Had an appointment for an inspection and was there for over 2 hours. But being a woman owing a car I havent experienced them trying to rip me off so I would recommend for women who own cars to check it out.UPDATED: spent 1400 dollars on a 2012 impala to be fixed. Took them 2 days to fix the car. Took the car on a road trip and it sounded like something was rubbing and grinding when you turned the wheel, accelerated etc. Took it back they had the car for 2 days to say the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE DONE 2 WEEKS AGO. For 1400 dollars the work should have been done the first time. The technician was helpful but the manager Erin (White dude with horrible teeth) only solution was to call the cops because I was yelling. Go ahead like i care i had kids in that car. I would not recommend this place unless certain people are working .
I went to location next to Price Chopper yesterday morning to have all four of my tires replaced and I did agree to have an alignment. While they had my car up, I was showed where my links were loose. I stress loose because I told the guy Im already spending a lot and if possible I would like to come back in a week or two. He told me its something I would want to get repaired sooner rather than later before they break. $700+ later, Im on my way home and hear weird noises whenever I turn. When I get home, low and behold the links on the front driver and passenger sides are, guess what, broken. Thayre actually hanging from underneath my car now, when they werent before. So I bring my vehicle back up there this afternoon and now both guys I dealt with are no longer the friendly, professional guys I dealt with just yesterday. They both were rude and basically smirked and waved me off and told me whatever. Neither one wanted to hear what I had to say. I showed him the receipt and they both pointed out that the links stated they were broken. But thats not what I saw and thats NOT what the guy said. He used the term loose and agreed that it was not an emergency to have repaired at the time I was there. Now they are telling me that actually since they were broken I needed to have REPLACED right away but I declined so its my fault. It is my fault for not really looking over my receipt though. I just didnt think theyd actually try to pull a fast one. I just feel like I was deceived and they intentionally misled me. I was hoping they would hear me out but i was told they dont have the time as they were busy. I will never do business with them again. And if anyone tells me theyre thinking of doing business with them, I will definitely tell them to steer clear ofMavis.
You should never have to worry that a mechanic lost your hub cap. Even if they ended up finding it, it caused so much stress.I have had problems here before (such as using the wrong tool to remove tires on my other, classic vehicle with tire locks, breaking the tire locks), but friendly staff kept me going back when my normal mechanic couldnt see me in time.Even if you are in a pinch, I suggest going else where

2022-01-25Called these guys in a Monday around noon after finding one of tires completely flat. They were quick to get it checked, and called me to advise it needed replacing. Even went so far as to go to Troy to get the correct tire for me. The gentleman that works the desk is incredible friendly and accommodating - even gave a discount for my “troubles” (which there were none). I was in and out quickly and the service was awesome. Highly recommend this location to anyone! I will definitely be back!

2022-02-13My wifes car front tire blew out, we needed it fixed today so she could go to work tomorrow. It was a painless and efficient process. John was very helpful and gave a very fair price. We will be back for any other car maintenance/repair needs.

2022-05-01Mavis did a great job. Kudos to all of them. The manager Cory and the employees John, as well as the others, went above and beyond for me. I got shocks and they took care of everything. My car was shaking..front end. Not anymore. Thank you so much for everything. In and out without any issues. I highly recommend them. They all deserve raises.

2022-05-28Had to get a new battery. Luckily it was covered under warranty. They had notified me that my positive terminal was in need of replacing and that they could get it done quick and easy. Had one of their guys run over to advance to grab the terminal and installed within a few minutes. Very quick and communicative team.

2022-04-23I took my car to Mavis Tire at 935 Central Avenue in Albany NY for new tires, an alignment and an inspection. Their customer service was EXCEPTIONAL! I brought in a copy of the tires I wanted that I printed off their website and the rep ordered them for me and I had them put on my car on Saturday. This shop is spotlessly clean and the customer service reps are very professional. This will be my place to go for my car needs.

2022-06-10I am so grateful for how kind, professional and knowledgeable these guys were in Albany. I went to the Mavis in Schenecdaty after work today but all of them had a 1.5-2hr wait. I was overdue for an oil change . I came in hoping I’d just get my tires fix ( it was slowly going flat) but it turns up I had a puncture in the tires and needed new ones. I didn’t know how I was going to pay for new tires (instead of $27 to fix) and Full synthetic oil change. He worked his magic found me a coupon and I was able to pay both. And I was in and out pretty quick. Thank you so much.

2022-04-15The folks here saved me when I was in a real bind. I needed an inspection and tires, but I was short on funds. Korey told me about their financing options, it was super easy to apply and got approved, got the work done and back on the road the same day so I could keep making money in my business.
