Mavis Discount Tire in other cities:
Made an appointment online (in advance) to get my tire checked out as it has been going flat. The day of the appointment I get there 10 mins early and no one comes out for some time.. Finally a man came to the desk and I told him I had an appointment that I had booked online for 2 pm. He didn’t even ask my name or any info before telling me that he was booked and couldn’t do it. Even with the appointment that I made in advance? It’s not like I made the appointment an hour beforehand or something. He couldn’t have even checked to see if my name was on there at all? I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s ever made an appointment online.. No where on the website does it say you have to call to confirm your appointment but the guy told me I should have called so he could have told me they’re booked, like how would I have known that? I’ve never been to another place that I’ve made an appointment online and they tell me it doesn’t update in their system. I realize that the system not updating is not the employees fault however this man’s tone was extremely rude and unwelcoming. I would not return to this location solely based on the fact that this man was extremely rude from our first interaction. If you do choose to use this place I would recommend only making appointments over the phone.
I made a silly mistake & went to the wrong Mavis, but this Mavis took me right in & they were very understanding. I loved the quality of services I received, and my car was completed in a timely fashion..Thank you so much to the employees at Mavis on south road! My children & I thank you tremendously, as we are now galavanting around safely for the holidays!
Worst experience ever. I had an appointment at 11:00 for my car to be inspected. Two hours later it still was not done. I tried to find out what was going on and was spoken to with a horrible attitude and totally disrespectful. The guy tried to say they called to leave a message to just drop the car off but I did not have a missed call or voice mail and neither did my husband which again was said to me with an attitude and then proceeded to go into the garage where they continued to talk like it was my fault in some way.
I received quality service from Mavis tires. The customer service was very professional. They took time to find out exactly what I wanted and needed, then got me in and out in a reasonable time so I could get ready for my vacation. I highly recommend this company. They do a great job and keep you informed of issues so you can always make a decision, when necessary to keep your repair on track and on time. Keep up the good work Mavis Tires, and I’ll be back when I need something else!!
Warning make sure you always get a second opinion! I had power steering fluid leaking and was told it’s my rack and pisson which is an expensive part. Was told it would cost $2,500 to fix! Bought the part and took it to a mechanic I trusted only for him to tell me that part was fine and it was just a hose leaking (much cheaper fix) So either they are terrible at their jobs and couldn’t identify the problem or they were trying to rip me off!!!! Have been ripped off at other mavis in wappingers falls as well which is why I didn’t trust them.
Such a pleasant experience at this Mavis location!! Mike assisted me from the moment I called to inquire about services I required, to the moment I left after the services were completed. He was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in explaining everything in great detail as to ensure I understood and was satisfied with all of the work required on my vehicle. I got all 4 tires replaced as well as breaks and it was completed in a timely manor at a great price. The location was clean I was treated with great respect. I felt very safe with covid regulations in place, all staff being masked. Mike was beyond helpful in this entire process and I could not be happier with my experience!! I highly recommend this location and will be returning for scheduled maintenance in the future!
My experience was one of the worst. Got warranty on all 4 tires. I came in for a patch on my tire. They ended up plugging it. Lazy people. Also, They Tried to steal from me, plus tried to play me by trying to make me buy rotors which I did not need whatsoever. Still have 60% life left in them and lied to me about “oh your rotors are shot” they don’t even know what shot is. It’s just disgusting to see how selfish and greedy people are in the world.
Came here today for your basic tire on rim situation. Called before hand they said the job would be done by the end of the day ! I was already on the way and the gentleman on the phone was very nice and helpful. When we arrived they already had the tire ready to replace the old ! We were in and out within 20 minutes ! So not only did they get it done way before expected but they also fixed it right there and then. Both gentlemen were very helpful and professional within the service they provided. Everything was fast, simple and we couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend this mavis over the others in the area. The service is just outstanding at this location you can clearly tell they take pride in their work and want the customer to be fully satisfied with their service. They also have over night shipping in case they do not have what you need in stock at that particular time which is great when you are in a pickle. Overall this was the best service I have ever received within anything automotive.
Went in last week with a apointment to get tires and alinement. Told me they was to busy. Then today I went in there with a apointment. He told me wait around should be finished in hour and half. I was waiting 3 and half hours. Asked the manager Matthew whats taken so long as my car still has not even been pulled he. He got nasty and told me to go else where and through my keys at me when i questioned why it was taken so long. Will never go to mavis again .
Have had some less than stellar experiences at other Maviss over the years but this was different.Craig was awesome. Got me in on a Saturday when other repair shops told me to wait and try Monday. He was very friendly and reassuring on the phone and then in person. My car was fixed and I am very happy. Thanks guys.
I had an 8am appointment for an inspection and I’m still here at 11am. What good is an appointment. I kept checking on it and it was in the same position with the hood open and 1 tire off but no one even near it for over an hour. I definitely do not recommend the Mavis near price chopper in Poughkeepsie. It’s awful!
Very disappointed. I made an appointment for 9 am. I was the first one at the door, the first one on the line and the first one to hand in their keys. I expected somewhat of a wait. I mean, it IS Mavis. However, I did NOT expect to be sitting there while people who came in AFTER me got seen first and left. When I questioned why people who were coming in after me were leaving before me, I was told that many people make appointments for 9 a.m., and the men were just taking keys and bringing cars in.Unacceptable. First off, whats the point of an appointment. Second, even if someone else HAD an appointment for 9 a.m., why isnt the first person on the line who handed in their keys the first person that gets seen? Common sense would be to take first who came first, otherwise, dont overbook for a specific time.I watched about 7 people go in and out before me, ALL of who came MUCH later in the morning (definitely without a 9 a.m. appointment leave before me.)Finally, about an hour and a half later, my car gets put into the bay and onto the lift.Of course, they tried to sell me something but in the same breath tell me that I take very good care of my car.Needless to say, I will NOT be coming back to this Mavis, nor would I recommend it to a friend. Being the first one in and the last one to leave is completely unacceptable. The only good thing I will say is that Greg was extremely pleasant.
I went to the Mavis on route 9 off south road in Poughkeepsie in the price chopper parking lot... I initially went in for an oil change but found out I needed new brakes, tire rotation and wipers as well. Michael who I believe was the manager of the store, had been the one who had helped me. Never in my life have I had good experiences with car shops...being a female I feel I usually get the run around or am told I need things that I don’t really need, however this time around was absolutely nothing like that. He greeted me right away and was completely honest about everything and didn’t overcharge me or try and push anything on me. I was very pleased with the work they did as well along with how fast and efficient everything was done. If anyone ever needs work done on their car I highly suggest going to that Mavis location ! Thanks again Michael for everything :)
I was very happy to have my vehicle serviced with Mavis Discount Tire in Poughkeepsie NY. I was in need of emergency service and had no problem getting everything done that was needed, which was quite a bit considering i was not from this area. Staff is kind and courteous as well as take the time to explain whats going on with your vehicle. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone needing any type of service for their vehicle. Michael, you are the best! Thank you so much! Thank you to the rest of the staff as well.
I think that the Poughkeepsie Mavis did a better job with my cars alignment bc at other Mavis every six months I need an alignment. This time the tech who was an older guy, in his 50s had to free up the bolts bc he said that after a while they get seized up. COME ON, REALLY? I dont think the other places ever did my alignment properly. I cant believe that from May to October my bolts were that seized up. I am happy for now. Maybe its my car. And no I didnt hit potholes and curbs. This car is not an everyday driver.
I made an 11am appointment today for a NY state inspection, and when I arrived (early) the unmasked attendant told me they were backed up for at least 4 hours because of walk-ins. 11am is the first time available any day for an appointment, so Im not sure how they were backed up for four hours. Also, when. I asked why I bothered to make an appointment if walk-ins were taken, the unmasked gentleman told me that they had no control over appointments. I would take my business basically anywhere else.
I recently visited this location to replace my tires and I was so impressed I needed to let everyone know about my experience. The service was absolutely amazing! I was able to get replacement tires faster than I thought possible. Super hospitable team members at this location. Mike took care of me and was super knowledgable! He steered me in the right direction and turned what could of been a bad day ( getting a flat tire) into a good one. All fixed and ready for the road! Thank you for all that you do here. Highly recommend and will be back in the future!
I don’t usually make reviews, but I feel like I absolutely need to recognize this Mavis for the outstanding service!! They are doing an awesome job of following safety protocol and yet still took the time to explain to me what I needed to get my car in tip top shape. And the prices were so reasonable, I have definitely felt taken advantage of at other places but that is so not the case here! I highly recommend a visit here if you are in need of servicing for your vehicle, I will definitely be back!!
Terrible service. I brought 3 cars in there and they blame that I needed calipers and rotors replaced every single time. At the third car I just said goodbye and left. I brought the car to a different meccanic and they told me that the rotors and calipers are totally fine. 6 months later I have no problem with my car. I saved $600. They try to get as much money as possible. I will no go to Mavis anymore.
Thank you Manager Miguel for your friendly and professional service. The staff were very knowledgeable of the service that was provided. The waiting time was reasonable and you kept me posted on the service progress stages. I recommend that you go to Mavis Tires for your vehicle needs. You will be so pleased as I was.
I have been here multiple times since getting my Nissan. Craig and others have been very kind and helpful through this all. From inspection to the new tires, even checking to make sure it’s good before driving! I appreciate all that they have done and will continue to come back.
I went their for an inspection...had 2 questions...1 about jacking points for my Smart car and the other about removing my wheel lug caps....the old cratch inspector said are you saying I dont know how to inspect a car?.....and he refused to inspect it...I filed a complaint with the NYS DMV....I just read Mavis response to my review, and they are liars....The video will show me asking about their jacking procedures and that I preferred them to use a floor jack rather than a lift, but would go with the drive on lift.....The next day, after Mavis refused to do my inspection, I went to another inspection station with the same concerns and got an inspection...See Photo
This place has a GREAT customer service and a really fair price. I was a walk-in customer and they did everything to help me with my car that had died across the street. While waiting I noticed the respect that they give to each customer, approaching each one to talk to them about their cars and being clear and friendly. I was really grateful for founding Mavis with the Manager Michael in a such stressful moment. Totally recommend!!!
Mr Michael is a great and knowledgeable point man. He is kind attentive and helpful. He surpassed my expectations in the customer service area. He explained in simple terms what was needed then proceeded to check for any discount or coupons . He did that !! The technicians are also amazing .Thank you for keeping our vehicles running .My Rock Star is MR Michael⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👌👌👌👌
I went to the Mavis near price chopper in poughkeepsie. I just needed an inspection, cause i was getting ready to pull a travel trailer for vacation. The manager Michael had pointed out some saftey issues on my vehicle that I was unaware of. They were able to fix everything in a timely manner, and Michael worked with me to keep it under my budget. My wallet thanks you, and my family thanks you for a safe ride to vacation!!
Car dealership reported my back brakes were 2cm. After purchasing rear brake pads went to Mavis for installation. Very kind staff showed me both brakes were like brand new. This is were I will always take my car for service. Ecstatic, Wonderful, Honest, Knowledgeable!!!!!!
I’ve always left after getting my car serviced with no worries. This shop and its manager (Mike) have never attempted to sell me any services that were not necessary. In fact, the last time I took my car to my dealership, the dealership tried to convince me that I required work that would have cost me $950. Mavis Discount Tire at this location told me that I did not need that service at all. They were right. I have driven my car an additional 20,000 miles since and no issue! I trust the team and manager at this location.
Went in to get struts replaced on the car, only to find out that they did not do a complete job and decided to not include parts necessary for the job and have it held together by zip ties. Only found this out after taking the car to another garage after still hearing a rattling noise. We could not simply take it back to Mavis to have it fixed because we needed a loaner car as the job would took longer than a day to fix. Couldnt get refunded after it was fixed elsewhere because corporate only cares about their bottom dollar and would rather have the same people put zip ties to fix it, to fix their own mistake. In other words, do your research everywhere when getting a job done on your car and avoid mavis if you want to ensure your car is fixed correctly.
Called ahead for my sister in law to take our car in and have the wheels changed. Thats right. literally the easiest possible thing. Take one set of wheels with winter tires off and put on a separate set of wheels with summer tires. They told me to send her right in and that they werent very busy. Three hours later she was still sitting there waiting for them to do a ten minute job. The place is HUGE and has tons of guys working there. why isnt one of these guys just churning out the quick and easy jobs to get people out of the door. This would have taken me a third less time to do by hand in my driveway. Also $90???? Are you kidding me. Must have a really inflated concept of what you think this job is worth. We have 3 vehicles at home and I operate another 6 a work and not one of them will be going back to Mavis
Got new tires installed and balanced. Car shook after I drove off so balance was off. Went back the next day to have it balanced again. Same issue. They told me to bring it by the next day again and then they wouldnt take my vehicle in right away to fix the issue though it was something they should be correction. I needed my car right away and now have to drive with a vehicle shaking. They know Im a first responder and this is how I was treated. Im going to take it somewhere that knows what they are doing. Never going back to any mavis again. UPDATE AS OF 9/27/21: so on may of last year is when I purchased these tires I had an issue with. Now a new issue. This Nikishi tires were either defective or I was sold older tires then was told to me. I went to mavis a couple weeks ago and was told I need new tires. Wait a minute, I’ve only driven the tires 25k miles since I bought them. I was told they were good for 45-55k miles. That’s only half the life of the tires. How can they possibly be balding? Well just today I brought this issue up with them and was assured a manager will be calling me back. That never happened. I will never ever purchase tires at any mavis again, especially this one. Not only was I sold faulty tires, but they didn’t even try to correct the issue. I will be contacting corporate in regards to this. I had a bad experience with the mavis on freedom plains rd in Poughkeepsie recently as well. Mavis discount tire= crooks. They will take your money
Over the past several years, I have found myself in need of the services provided by Mavis Discount Tires. My experience with my local branch at Hudson Plaza, Route 9 Poughkeepsie, NY has been truly outstanding. I am very impressed with the professionalism from the customer rep who greets me at the sign-in desk, to the expert skills of the mechanics who work on my car. I have always been extremely pleased with the service, the outcome of my needs, and have returned to Mavis in Poughkeepsie whenever I have a tire problem because I know the job will be done right by the professionals, and done right the first time.
Jason’s communication was straight forward and the service was timely as promised. I called last minute expecting a long wait but they reassured me I could be in and out in good time. I was back on the road in no time! Thank you to the management and the crew for excellent service. I’ll happily be returning for anything I need.
Asked for two tires to be put on my SUV and that was all. They tried to sell me new brakes after I told them I do them myself do not offer. Also told them I needed to be out of there by two oclock if it was going to be an issue let me know. The car was on the lift at oclock but took an hour and a half to put two tires on and offer a service I explained from the beginning I would not need. Proceeded to call the customer service number and spoke with someone who told me a district manager would call me back. Two weeks later and I have not received any response.
I came in with a flat tire before I had to go into work. I had the one tire replaced and bought the other three and came in next morning to have the other tires put on. Always remember to either drop off car or just wait. If you wait understand you may have to wait. I am happy with my new tires.
I am using this Mavis location since 1994. So, we are talking about 25 years. Would you imagine how many different employees i saw there for this period of time. ? 04/062019 i tried to get inspection of my car which drove perfectly normal!! They told me that car has front lower control arm excessive play on both sides, and immediately offer me to fix it for $369. 99 each . I already had issues in the past in this location for doing non necessary work and overcharge me because of it. At that time i contacted in main office and i was reimbursed. So, i was cautious at this time and said that will go to my mechanic to fix it. When my mechanic looked at the car he said that there is NO issues whatsoever!!!!! Then i pulled to another mechanic and was told the same: You do not have excessive play which may prevent you from get car inspected. But because sticker was removed i asked my mechanic to fix it He said that price will be $245 with tax. I get it done and brought car back for re inspection. I said that i will wait . Usually it takes up to an hour . In this case it took 2,5 hours, and they even did not put car inside in the shop. They simply put new sticker and it was end of story. So, my household has 5 cars, also i told this story in my neighborhood. I told my children do not use this place anymore and will not go over there again. After supporting them for 25 years, i am dumping them, unless they reimburse me for not necessary done work on my car!!!! And i also will headquarters know about it. This place simply uses to do unnecessary work before to pass inspection.
The manager Tyson and the staff there go above and beyond helping you out. They’re trust worthy and dont try to sell you something you dont need aka...take advantage of you. They’re honesty and quality control keeps me coming back. I work for a small business locally and even convinced my GM to start bringing our work vehicles there. Keep up the good work guys.
I called this morning to see how long it would be for my car to be taken in for an oil change. They told me if I got my car there in 15 minutes from when i called theyd be able to take it right in. They also told me to come back to pick it up and hour and half later. I dropped my car off at 9:30 and called 3 and half hours later at 1pm to see if it was finished yet. The manager said theres one ticket ahead of mine and that my car would be taken in after that. Then once I told them dont worry about my car Ill be there to pick it up the manager says oh we can take it in now.
They tried over charging me multiple times on state inspection on 2 brand new vehicles. I caught this each time and they have corrected the issue. But what about the customers that are not aware of this. I believe they over charge then after customers leave they cancel the order and input the actual price and pocket the difference. 4 x they tried charging me 21 dollars. It should have been 10 dollars. They do this to unexpecting customers and pocket 11 dollars. They also told me they had to jump start my truck 3x and that I needed a new battery. I had zero battery issues going in. I did not get a battery. I went to autozone to have it tested. It tested perfect. If I could give negative stars I would. Do not go here. Crooks. UPDATE: Battery is still working just fine. Almost 2 years later. CROOKS!!
So my mom went in to get my mothers brakes and rotors replaced. I told her specifically what she needed because i used to work on cars for a living but sold my tools and changed careers. Next thing you know they start doing a full system flush behind her back, replaced oil filter...etc. Next thing you know not even 3 days later she has a serious exhaust leak, and the catalytic converter was broken and the brackets that hold her exhaust and keep it from vibrating and rattling were missing. Now i was starting to think something was fishy. So she goes back to get it fixed and they used the cheapest glue ever and did a childs job in fixing it but it isnt having any issues yet but will soon enough. So she comes home and next thing you know her other pipe is messed up in the front. I see hammer dings or something and almost like spray paint with dirt with the bolts undone, but in just enough to keep it attached. Long story short, these mechanics are hacks and completely new to their line of work. Go to the professional locations if you want something done, do not and i mean DO NOT go to mavis ever!! If you call cooperate they just say theyll meet up with you next week, and then defend their company and mechanics and wont make good. Horrible company, horrible mechanics, horrible customer service. Law suits will be coming shortly.
I was out with my mom and sister and was in desperate need of tires, I really didnt know exactly how bad until the salesman told me that if I hadnt got them now it would have only been a matter of time before they blew.... imagine my surprise!! So it took around an hour and they put two new tires on, rotated the old ones and we were off, the price was very reasonable!
I had taken my truck to Mavis because a tire was loosing air. A nail was found and the put a plug in. The following morning I went to leave and the low tire pressure light was on. I looked at the tire and it was low again. I went back down to Mavis. I didnt wait very long before they took the truck in. The mechanic couldnt find any leaks. He took the tire off the rim, cleaned the bead and the rim. He also replaced the valve. Hopefully this issue has been resolved.
The woman who waited on me was pushy, rude and inaccurate in her physical observations. She pawned me off on her male co-worker when I finally told her, frankly, that I felt as if I was getting a hard sell from her. Although he was courteous, I had to wait the entire 3 hours from my arrival to closing for the simple new tire application and rotation. There was no time for an alignment even though the steering pulled to the left when they were finished. A gifted mechanic I know who wasnt available until a day later told me that the tires may have been unevenly inflated on purpose to create the pull and hence need for an alignment. If so, they may have felt it could work on me as I am a woman.
Great online deals. Quality service in a reasonable time. Mechanics were very honest and took the time to show everything that was wrong. They worked to give us the best deal and only recommended what needed to done. I didnt feel like I was being taken advantage of. Ill definitely go back.
I was told it would be 1 hour to take the tire from my trunk and put it on my driver front. I knew the job would take all of 10 minutes, but there were people who got there first so an hour didnt seem bad. 2 hours later my car was still sitting outside. So I went up to inquire and was told cars were there first yada yada. Long story short it took 3 hours for LITERALLY a 10 minute job. BUT the manager didnt charge me for the job due to the inconvenience, which I thought was very commendable.
Although I have used this place before and had an ok experience, today was different. We could not get in or start our car after the work was complete. When we tried to speak with the customer service rep the only response we got back was that it was fine when they pulled it out. It seemed as if they did not care that this was how we were getting our car back. I spent approximately 30 min right in front of the store trying to diagnose the problem myself before I went back in and complained. We looked at the key fob to the car and one of the mechanics had said it was dead. I said that was unlikely because I tried to start the car with a way that I found to do so in that situation and that did not work. Finally a mechanic came out and looked at it. After a little bit he realized they had left the car in neutral and that was why they key fob was not working. Im a little embarrassed I did not notice this myself but why would I check it? The car was parked and I figured it would be left in park. So not only did no one seem to care that we couldn’t get the key fob to work but the car was left in neutral with no ebrake on in the parking lot. This is not the way to treat a customer or a customers property and certainly does not show me that this place takes pride in their work or the satisfaction of their customers. Oh and also the key fob is fine. It is not and was not dead. I even made a trip home to get the back key but it didnt make a difference.
Unethical business practice. Will tell you need things you don’t need to simply profit. Went in for 2 new tires and was told essentially couldn’t leave unless I get this and that. I was told the extra stuff would take 10 minutes. I was there for 3 hours to get 2 new tires and I was one of the first people there at opening. Not to mention I needed an oil change that was over due by a few hundred miles but they wouldn’t bring that up cause it won’t line their pockets. It took them 45 minutes to find the correct battery for my car.Checkout I was told to pay the wrong invoice and they voided it with no receipt or confirmation to me and then I was charged for the correct amount.Just let your dog fix your car, you’ll have a better experience.
Arrived at 7:50. Walk-in customer 2nd person in door. Service person knowledgeable about cars and tires. Not so good with computer. Finally got order done. After waiting 2houts and 15 minutes asked where I was in line for work. Was told I was second in line. Mentioned I was 2 nd customer in building that morning and had waited patiently for over 2 hours. Told by manager my car would be in soon but online appt got priority. Left with my car because I was pretty sure I would not be done for another 11/2 hours and I had an appointment else where. Turns out 3 hours was not enough time to get a new tire
I am very surprised by some of the negative comments I have just read about Mavis. I have been going to the same Mavis for decades now (on Route 9 South Road - next to Price Chopper) and have really NEVER had a bad experience. As a repeat customer, the guys have always given me GREAT pricing. And the guys at this location appear to have a lot of experience, and as I said in my opening, I have never had a bad experience. I had built relationships with front desk guys like Fred, and Dave when they were there, and have now built a relationship with Mike, and he has been super with me and my sister. Ive seen many of the maintenance guys like Vince, Gilbert, Jose, and so on, that have been there for years, and are very experienced. And the lead - Angelo knows his stuff. Again, I can only comment about the Route 9 South Road location next to Price Chopper. In closing I would recommend this Mavis location to anyone.regards,J. Louis Scivolette
Made an appointment yesterday to be there today at 10:00 I was there at 5:00 after and their approximately 10 cars already parked proceeded to the front desk and sign in and then waited it was almost exactly 2 hours after I signed in when they finally took the car and all it was was a flat tire but they were pretty busy so I use the time to read some scriptures.
I agree with the previous comments.....unethical business practices and terrible customer service. Ive taken all three of my vehicles there for years, unfortunately the last time I took my vehicle they did not re-install the oil housing correctly. After I noticed it was leaking oil all over my garage I took it to the dealership. They said the entire oil housing needed to be replaced due to the filter housing threads being striped (ie. not being reinstalled properly) after the last oil change. I called Mavis and they said the prefer to repair it themselves but understood it was already at the dealership and agreed to reimburse me for the out of pocket costs. Per Mavis direction I took the damaged parts to them in order to get my reimbursement and was told that Id only be reimburse for a fraction of the repair costs. The manager questioned my integrity saying he didnt see the damaged parts on my vehicle. Bottom line, they would rather lose a loyal customer than paying for the full cost of the damage they directly caused.
Dont waste your time trying to get a quick oil change. Stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon and three hours later still no oil change. Gave them a pass because hey maybe it was a busy day. Went back the next morning and dropped the truck off yet again in hopes that I would get my oil changed. Four hours later still no oil change. Two days wasted..... Never going back again.
Went in for tires; knew I had a problem with the front end; told them about it, and they found and fixed it. Total came out to way more than I wanted that day, and no Im not sure that I wasnt sold on stuff I didnt need. I do know that it was ridiculously cold outside, and I wasnt about to get under the car and check out all those parts. I also know that if those parts were bad, it would totally cause my problem, and I would have a hard time replacing them for much less than they did it. Very happy with the service; will definitely be going back when I dont feel like doing it myself. These are my new go to guys!
Very disappointing experience. I stopped in on a Tuesday morning to simply have my winter wheels/tires swapped with the summer set, and to have the TPMS sensors in the summer set paired to the car. While the lady at the counter was polite, the attempts at “upselling” started immediately. ”Are we doing an alignment”, “how are your wiper blades”, etc. I just need the tires swapped, thank you, and please don’t forget to pair the TPMS sensors..I waited a very long time (almost 3 hours) to get this work done. That’s too long. They didn’t look too busy, and should have warned me that it was going to take a while. They should have more respect for people’s time.Once the work was done, I asked again if they paired the TPMS sensors, and they assured me it was done. However, after I left and drove a few miles, the TPS light came on.. UGH.I went back and was met outside by the manager who told me that he couldn’t pair these sensors, but would be happy to sell me new ones ‘when I get new tires from them’.... (more upselling!)Its amazing that a national chain tire shop can’t successfully pair a TPS sensor on a common late model Subaru! I had to stop at a Subaru dealer, and pay them to pair the sensors.
If you like headaches, disloyal customer service and giving your money away...Mavis is a great place. They have no knowledge about rotors and brakes. They started adding more on my tab without me knowing. I am a woman and they took advantage of me. I have never had a bad experience with a car company than Mavis. Please learn from my experience and choose someone who knows what they are talking about and knows what they are doing. At the end of the day, I am the one with the last laugh.
Horrible customer service. I called 2 weeks ago and was quoted a price. I was told I needed to schedule an appointment in order to ensure that the tires I requested would be available. Upon arriving for my appointment I was informed that tickets expire and was I sure I called the right location. Dan was extremely non apologetic, and said the call center was not the same as calling the store. He let me know that the tires were not in stock because I had called two weeks ago and its first come first serve. Then what is the reasoning behind making an appointment. I will never go back there.
Service was mediocre at best. Needed 4 new tires put on. Asked for a time estimate, and was told between 1-1.5 hours. It took them 3 hours. Im not sure where the initial estimate came from. They also heavily scraped the entire edge of all four rims with the machine they used to pop the tire on and off the rim. Pretty pathetic.
If I could give them a zero star rating, I would. Both my husband and I have purchased new tires for our vehicles here and they DO NOT know what they are doing. If you have a car with TPMS (tire pressure monitoring) - run away from this place because they will mess them up and never fix the problem. This isnt the only issue weve had with them. They have told us that certain things needed to be fixed/repaired and when we brought the vehicle to the dealer - the issues was unfounded. They are money making scam artist....stay away!
Today I went to city Inspection for my 2017 CR-V, they said me I must change the caliper, I said I do not have that much money and I do not want to change the caliper. They told me they have to take off the inspection tag. I said if that the state law, you can take it off, however you need to show me the law or you need to give me on writing, that you take it off. I do not know if that is the NY state law. Hope you will advise me. They did not give me any list that what is the reason Car inspection was fail. I believe when you go for inspection, they give the list of item, why it was fail city inspection, or what work need to be done.
I was an old customer ever after their forgetting oil in oil change I still retured. Till last year when they failed my inspect citing loose wheel bearing, LIE. Truth they wanted to charge me $300 for work not needed or even part of inspection. If you buy tires do not get Tire Hazard it is useless. Brought back blown $250 tire with 5000 miles on it they tell me damage not covered to contact manufacturer about warranty. DO NOT WALK but RUN from any Mavis store.
Bought 4 new tires and had other work done to the tune of over $1300. Three of the tires went nearly flat within a week. Took vehicle back, they looked at them said they resealed them and sent me home. One week later, 2 tires going flat while sitting in driveway. Took vehicle back for a 2nd time, they worked on it again. Asked why this was happening, Mgr stated rims are old and sometimes tires dont adhere to older rims. Brought car home for 3rd time, tires went flat again. Took car to Norms on Hooker Avenue. Nothing at all wrong with the rims, rims were NEVER touched by Mavis in the 3 times it was there. Norm sanded the rims and put tires back on. Havent had a problem since. Hard to find incompetence on this level with a place that is supposed to specialize in tires
I brought my car here for the inspection and the guy tried to push me into getting brakes, saying it was metal on metal. I was told by several people that Mavis pushes services during inspections. I declined and took the car to Hudson View Auto Body. Surprisingly brakes dont need to be changed for at least another 5K miles. Mavis lost a customer because of their dishonesty!! And needless to say, Hudson View won one.
Recently i got 3 tires on my car from your store and had unsatisfactory or disappointing experience. There is no synchronization between Mavis people at store and customer service on Mavis hotline. I was given a price quote by customer service on Mavis hotline for 3 Dunlop Signature II tires for my Camry. When i had discussion with customer service, they mentioned price quoted to me by them would be final price and I will have to just pay price quote given by them plus tax at store after tire service. Customer service guy mentioned price he is giving me included everything installation, Mounting, balancing with valves and any TPMS service. He told me he would push the price quote to local store near me. When i went to store, there was argument with people at store on price that they are seeing for me. It was totally a different price quote that was sent to store. I had to struggle by myself to call customer service again to reconfirm and conference store and customer service folks to bring them on same page. Store guys ( Parsippany store ) were least bothered to even talk to me properly on price. Finally after 5 to 6 calls to customer service, i was able to get price quote that was discussed and was pushed to store. I dropped my vehicle and went home thinking to pick it once tire service is done. But after 30 minutes, i get a call from Mavis guy at store telling me he need to put a new tpms service kit and that would cost $6.99 per tire. I had 3 new tires and he mentioned that would be additional $21 over what is called FINAL QUOTE given before service. I had again another argument with Mavis guy saying whatever final quote i got had everything in it ( which was the case ). I called customer service and now it is their turn to turn-down the discussion happened.Once sale is done, your customer service was least bothered to even talk to me properly. They dont keep words as per discussion happened. I was really disappointed with the experience interacting with people at store and customer service.I would think twice to go to Mavis again and would not recommend to anybody or will explain them my experience.
I came into mavis and I told the guys at the desk I need an oil change and tire rotation, they said sure well get it done, I also informed them that I bought the oil and filter I want on the center console and they said ok. When I came in at 10am, there were only 3 cars in the shop on a lift, since then Ive seen 5 different types cars go ahead of mine and my truck is still in the parking lot!, I went up and asked how many cars are still ahead of me and one of the guys at the front desk went to Joe and looked and some papers and started laughing, he then came back and told me youre next, its 12:30 and Im still here looking at my truck sitting there in the parking lot, this is the last time I come here because they obviously dont care and its not like I came here for a difficult job, just and oil change and tire rotation...
Called a couple days before and asked, How much would it be to have 4 snow tires mounted? with the response being, $14.99 per tire. After dropping my car off at 9am and waiting for over 2 hours(not sure why it takes that long to mount 4 tires when the shop has so many bays-but thats besides the point) I got my receipt and was charged $24.99 per tire PLUS labor. Granted, the labor wage is posted inside the shop, but when someone asks you how much a service will be, you dont NOT include the labor charge. You dont advertise an oil change for $25 but then tack on a $40 labor fee for the half hour worth of work that goes into it... However, my point still stands that I was charged $10 more PER tire than I was initially quoted and because of this, I will not be going back to Mavis again.Update: I was contacted the next day by the manager of the store and he explained to me how there must have been a miscommunication over the phone about pricing and he decided to grant me a refund based on what I believed I was expecting to pay. Ive increased my review to 3 stars because of the quickness and willingness to correct this error.
Went in for a tire balance and rotation everything was good in the car so didnt try to upsell me but my rims were damaged! There was chips in the outside part of the rim on two of them and all of them had some scratches inside were the lugnuts are. Now it may not be the worse damage on a rim Ive seen before but I still expect to get them back the way they were.I was told they would take care of two of them but thats not acceptable in my eyes as they are all damaged.Just to add to it the balance was worse then it was when I brought it in.
This place doesnt even deserve 1 star. I came here to get tires and to have them put on my car. When I got my car back it turns out they put a hole in my muffler when they put it on the lift. We talk to the guy at the front desk and he asks if we can come back tomorrow because they were closing...we said no and they took 1 look at the car and said there was nothing they could do.
My mother went in for 4 new tires. One of the mechanics tried to upsell a $350 brake caliper + rotor + pad job claiming that the calipers were getting locked and burning the rotors (how do you burn a solid piece of steel…?) and that the car wasnt safe to drive as the brakes could stick. I had her decline the brake job as it is on a 2013 acura and shouldnt need new calipers or rotors and just get the tires. When she gets home I notice the tires are almost 3 years old, covered in dirt, and the brakes were absolutely fine.We were lied to, scammed, and possibly sold used tires as new!!!I will be following this up with seeing that this gets dealt with from corporate.
I had used several area Mavis over the years for new tires, and occasionally a NYS DMV saftey/emissions inspection. NEVER AGAIN!After talking with some current, an some former Mavis employees, and customers a larger picture has become clear. The entire Mavis chain is nothing more than a real estate holding company. They force all other smaller tire shops out of busness with price fixing, creating an illegal monopoly in the communities where they operate. Then when they are the only tire place in the area they increase prices, lower worker pay, and become more and more forcefull in thier upselling, and begin treating thier workers almost as poorly as their customers. There are numerous instances where Managers force lower tier employees to blatantly lie about New York State Law in order to force customers to buy items they now (falsely) believe they are required by law to purchase.Watch these reviews in the future, I guarantee that the complaints will increase, while satisfaction decreases. In the end, none of it matters to Mavis Corporate Operations because by the time the community catches on, Corporate will sell the property for a substantial profit having destroyed the Small Family Run tire businesses and community trust in the process.
LADIES BEWARE! This outfit will take advantage of you! I was there for a NYS Inspection and both myself and another woman were given a line of nonsense (more polite way of putting it) that our cars needed a particular repair when, in fact, they did not! Mavis Wappingers Falls is only looking for business so do not take your car there for a NYS Inspection!5/17/2013: UPDATE: I received a call this afternoon from a representative of Mavis about my truthful Google review. He continued to repeat that he wants to help me. I would not cooperate with a thief. LADIES BEWARE!! They will take advantage of you! Read the other reviews on Google and not their own company reviews. Both myself and another woman at the same time had to bear the burden of scare tactics. DO NOT GO TO ANY MAVIS TIRE FOR ANY NYS INSPECTION!
Currently sitting in the waiting area as I have been for over an hour for a TIRE ROTATION. My car is still on the lift with the wheels off where its been for 35+ minutes! I had a 9am appointment and its 10:30 now; how is this possible? Absolutely terrible service, save your time and have work done somewhere else!
When Mavis quote me a price, I KNOW that that will be the price out the door when I pick up my car. I hate being nickled and dimed about price. That does not happen at Mavis. I noticed that they cleaned the inside of my wheels to incure the new tires would seat properly. Nice touch.
Every 3 or 4 years I use these guys and vow to never do it again. Nobody really expects you can get your brakes done for $70, but my bill was over $300 for pads and rotors. $30 to push the calipers back, are you kidding me? How about another $30 to install the rotors, a part that falls off the car once the wheel is off. Save some money, skip the phoney coupon from mavis and go to your local indy, his rack rate will save you some money...
Generally good to get price match but not this time....person at the counter must have been new.....made people wait while she was talking with other employees for a good 20 minutes, 2 customers before me in line left and went to another Mavis.....then she proceeded to price matching the price I got that included taxes and insisted that they include the tax in the price matching and then wanted to charge taxes again on the total....had to get the manager to clarify and then they would not include the other vendor coupons in the price match.....

2022-02-27I had to come on here to let the community know how phenomenal my experience was today I went in for a routine inspection and oil change. I ended up being greeted my a guy named Trevor and he was extremely knowledgeable and polite. We shared some laughs, he gave me advice on things I need for my vehicle and was very upfront and honest. I didn’t feel pressured and felt he genuinely cared about my safety. Trevor was outstanding along with his team! Truly A++ experience and I will definitely be going back.

2022-02-27My first time going to mavis and I’m very satisfied. I was greeted by Trevor who was very nice and pleasant. I told him that I’m here without an appointment and I just need an oil change. It was slow at the time I came in and Trevor got my car handled right away. I was out of the shop in 15 minutes. I am very satisfied customer and hope Trevor continues to do great in the business

2022-06-03I had to get a tire replaced on my subaru. Not only did Mavis have the tire in stock, (which is tough due to it being a subaru and all wheel drive) they had the job done in a reasonable amount of time. They advised me of brake issues, but they didnt force me into anything, which as a women, is much appreciated. Evan was helpful and Friendly, and I will now be using them for auto needs in the future due to my Excellent Experience.

2022-04-30I went in the day before my inspection was due and was helped by Trevor, he was very friendly and a great help in getting my car in. He assured me that although there was a wait he could get it done, and was very communicative through out the process. I would definitely recommend this location to others.

2022-02-06Changing my review from 5 stars to 2. First of all, they ask you to give them 5 stars on the spot and walk you through the steps at the front desk. I had them put new tires on my car for the winter and they did, so I gave my review. Now 3 weeks later, a rhythmic noise from my driverside tire starts. Turns out they did not properly tighten the lug nuts on my driverside tire. They were nice guys but if tires are your business, leaving the lug nuts loose really should not be happening. Its dangerous.

2022-03-07I had a flat repair done on at the mavis on south road about 4 days ago. It was a day where it was super busy but I could not wait another day. 2022-04-30Called at 9:30am to make a 10 AM appointment just to have a tire patched...sat there for over an hour waiting and they had not even touched my car..when I called I let them know I needed to be back at work and they said that they would get me in-and-out in a 1/2 an hour .I had to leave without my car even being looked at .. All they said was that they were sorry that they were short staff but funny thing is is when I got there is there at 9:45 because I was early there was only 2 cars in the bays. So basically they overlooked my car and had me sitting there for over an hour without even looking at it.
